0:03 squarespace.com LTT we'll have that linked below
0:07 you have got to be kidding me l lg is showing off tvs in there boob
0:13 no way so they've got an update to the w7
0:17 signature from last year that we actually built into my office as a
0:21 window tv and in terms of the changes well quite frankly they couldn't have
0:26 made it any thinner they couldn't have made it any higher resolution until we
0:30 get a next generation display interface so it's mostly tweaks as far as that
0:35 goes with that said some of the tweaks are pretty significant it now has google
0:39 assistant integration and works with amazon alexa so you can ask it questions
0:44 like what's the weather today or what's the weather going to be like later or
0:47 tell it to dim the lights etc and it's also got lg's thin q
0:53 which they call thin q instead of think for some inexplicable reason that lets
0:57 you use voice control also to control tv functionality like screen brightness uh
1:02 pointer options changing the channel and telling the tv to go to sleep just so
1:06 that it doesn't sit there and maybe risk burning in when you pass out
1:10 on the couch the big thing though is what's under the hood so it's still got
1:15 that sound bar under the tv but the processor in it is different so the
1:19 alpha nine addresses five key aspects of image quality color so it has a lookup
1:24 table that is 7.3 times larger clarity so it's got twice as many steps of noise
1:28 reduction sharpness it increases depth by tracking
1:32 objects rather than edges necessarily
1:36 and then contrast and motion though contrast is a bit of a funny one because
1:40 if you can already turn your pixels off you're already technically infinite so
1:44 um maybe more brightness i'm just making things up now at this
1:48 point though so this chip is gonna appear in their c8 e8 g8 and w8 tvs for
1:54 2018. so that's all cool but one of the
1:58 most interesting things that lg is showing off this year is actually way
2:02 way deep under the hood and the demo behind me is being run in partnership
2:07 with a company that we've worked with in the past called spectra
2:11 sorry i mean a portrait portrait they changed the name a little while ago
2:15 anyway lg is changing the way that you can calibrate their tvs with third-party
2:20 hardware and software so behind me we've got an HDR tv with
2:25 portrait calman software and there's a new mode that they're rolling out called
2:30 autocal and okay technically autocal is not new but the way that it works is
2:35 really different so now on certain lg
2:38 tvs so the one behind me is a 2018 model you're going to be able to basically
2:42 click one button and instead of it taking an hour to calibrate your tv to a
2:47 professional level even HDR calibration it'll take just a
2:51 couple minutes and instead of your calibration software
2:55 having to fight with the pre-existing luts or any image settings that you
3:00 alter in the let's face it it's pretty confusing menu it just wipes all that
3:05 stuff out and does it fresh from scratch
3:09 not only that but you can even calibrate the image in multiple modes including
3:14 game mode so you no longer have to choose between higher latency and crap
3:20 your image quality wait and better image quality lower latency you can get lower
3:24 latency and better image quality at the same time speaking of things going
3:28 faster and looking better squarespace sponsored our trip to ces 2018 and if
3:32 you want a great looking website and you want to do it fast then they're the
3:36 place to go they've got tons of great features including their logo designer

3:43 matter of minutes and everything is managed through their intuitive
3:46 cloud-based interface so check them out over at squarespace.com LTT we've got
