0:10 this is going to be a quick instructional video for anyone who bought a fractal design Define R2 case
0:16 and is affected by a problem with the wiring in the front USB port we've got a
0:21 forum thread going on in our Forum about how the wires are crossed which means
0:26 that if you plug any USB peripheral into the front USB port it won't work for one
0:31 thing and there is a chance that it will be damaged so uh what we recommend you
0:35 do is actually just wait fractal design
0:39 is addressing the problem they're sending us replacement cables which we
0:42 will be able to send out to every customer who bought one or who buys one
0:46 in the next little while here but if you want to Meyer yourself a solution there
0:51 is a way to do it all you have to do is take your side panel off okay so I've
0:57 taken the side panel off and then you you will have to pop off the front bezel
1:02 so that means that you just kind of get under it here pry it up from the bottom
1:06 there's a little grip at the bottom that you can hold on to I should probably show you that you see that Gap right
1:11 there so I'm just going to grab onto that and then pry it up if I have the
1:16 strength there we go okay so once you pry it up you just need to carefully
1:20 remove the front bezel from the case just like this there's a little Gap here
1:24 you'll need to pull all these connectors through and then you need to locate the
1:29 USB cable so this cable right here is the
1:34 one that fractal design is going to be replacing with ones that are wired
1:37 correctly the problem is that this USB
1:41 plug that goes into your motherboard is wired wrong the red cable here and the
1:46 green cable are not carrying the correct voltage and the correct signal and they
1:51 are actually carrying what is supposed to be the other so even though the
1:54 coloring should be red white green black
1:58 that is not correct in this case so we are we are telling users that while it's
2:03 not the best solution the best thing is to wait for fractal design to address
2:07 the issue uh what they can do is simply
2:10 swap the two cables so you need a little tiny flathead screwdriver or a needle or
2:15 a pin what you need to do is get it under the little tab I'm going to sort
2:20 of sorry I know the cameraman can't really see it okay so you get that under
2:24 the little tab you pull out the red cable then you go along to the green
2:28 cable you get under the little tab here you need to be very careful not to lift
2:32 these up too high because they're just little plastic tabs and you can damage
2:37 them once you've removed the green and red cable from the one side you can plug
2:42 it in make sure you push the tab back down and then check to make sure that
2:46 it's locked into place so I've put the green cable where the red one was and
2:51 then I'm putting the red wire in where the green one was just like that once
2:57 you've made this swap the case front panel USB will work and there's no need
3:02 to get a replacement cable if you're totally comfortable with this what
3:06 you've effectively done is made sure that the right cables are carrying the
3:10 right signals so I want you to compare the side that I have corrected it goes
3:15 green white red black to the side that I have not corrected which goes red white
3:21 green black or actually so that you can see them from the same from the same
3:24 angle here's what it looks like so the top one is the corrected one that I have
3:29 that I done with this case and the bottom one is the incorrect one even
3:33 though that is the official wiring coloring for USB so that was just a
3:39 quick guide on how to uh how to mver yourself a solution to this problem if
3:43 you don't want to wait for a new cable thank you for checking out my video blog
