0:01 okay and we're back and hopefully the audio is fine it sounds fine to me it's
0:06 fine for some people yeah apparently it was fine to some people so I suspect it
0:09 was more of a twitch issue than anything else but since we're restarting the show
0:13 we have to do a very brief thing here so we're going to cover the Intel x99 chipset in their eight core brand new
0:17 extreme Edition 5960x Amazon purchased switch TV for $1 billion 970 million 1
0:24 billion is dollars all right uh Microsoft is cracking down on fake apps
0:29 in the Windows store Windows 9 will be free or quite cheap and boom here's the
0:41 intro no I haven't actually watched this
0:44 really yeah like not in a long time nicer than I thought it was yeah it's
0:49 really good except you need to make an Asian
0:53 smaller guy instead of the Luke on the right there all right so our sponsors
0:58 this week are what did I do oh that's
1:01 sort of terrible okay we're going to have to watch it again apparently no
1:06 don't worry I I got this and yay our sponsors this week are
1:13 54 Club they have actually slightly
1:17 revised their usual deal so I will be giving you guys more details but instead
1:23 of the old offer you may actually get
1:26 cash money in your box
1:30 which I think is pretty darn interesting also oh wow I I did it again that that
1:37 is something that is something all right
1:40 so also powering the show this week is
1:44 hyperx and um we've actually got the intro playing yeah the intro is playing
1:49 okay I got this i got this i got this under control this is what happens when
1:52 I don't sleep and the entire week is a complete disaster for me so this week
1:58 the show is also brought to you by hyperx we've actually got Luke and
2:03 Brandon down at PAX Prime they are powered by hyperx down there at the show
2:08 and they are going to be doing a great job of bringing you guys some great content from pack so one thing to keep
2:15 in mind guys is that hyperx asked for us
2:18 to mention their YouTube channel so that's youtube.com/ Kingston hyperx
2:23 they've got a lot of great gaming content on there so make sure that you
2:26 check that out all right so
2:31 uh all right twitch chat I'm sorry we're done with the technical
2:36 difficulties for now all right so our first news topic this week and this is
2:41 this was po this was removed from the Forum since the original post by
2:46 Marcus UK so the article here is from
2:50 Gamespot and Amazon acquires Twitch in A1 billion deal see Gamespot agrees with
2:55 me $1 billion now this flies in the face of
3:00 the original rumors that YouTube was going to acquire twitch and we were
3:06 actually talking about this in the car on the way back from the office the
3:09 other day and I think the Amazon
3:12 acquisition makes sense but I think you were saying that YouTube might have been
3:17 a more might have been a more sensible option depending on Whose perspective
3:22 we're talking about so I think it's better that Amazon bot
3:27 twitch just because you don't have that Consolidated of uh with regard to videoing I was just
3:34 playing Devil's Advocate because Google
3:37 has acquired a ton of things and they haven't really ruined them except for
3:42 like ways and what else I think there are people
3:46 who would argue that they've kind of ruined YouTube compared to the sort of
3:50 the Indie vibe that YouTube had going on at the beginning but honestly I think it
3:55 was going to go that direction eventually anyway because they were
3:58 going to have to figure out a monetization model it's just that Google
4:02 figured that out and YouTube might have come to a very similar conclusion on
4:06 their own if they had stayed independent except that they might not have been
4:09 able to ever build the kind of infrastructure to support you know HD
4:13 and now 4K that Google has managed to build to back it up IIT s you trying to
4:18 say that YouTube was ruined or wasn't I'm trying to say some people say it is
4:22 I personally don't think so yeah they're crazy yeah I mean I think that YouTube
4:26 has been great for Content creators and it's been pretty darn good with some
4:31 obvious hiccups like the recent go plus integration and that's not being
4:35 consumers yeah and the fact that we can't upload anything right now but by
4:41 and large it's better than it used to be I mean I used to have issues uploading
4:45 files all the time now it's like weird
4:48 when it happens apparently I look awkward you look awkward I think we both
4:52 look awkward because the camera is like super awkward and we far away and stuff
4:58 but so what would you have seen happening then if Google acquired twitch
5:04 instead of Amazon I think it would be largely the
5:10 same just because I don't think either of them want to ruin a good thing
5:15 because twitch is as big big as it is
5:19 just because that's what they do they've only been around three years Jus in TV
5:23 was longer that's true but the whole
5:27 game streaming thing has only been around for three years on
5:31 twitch.tv or twitch I guess is their it's their current brand which is more
5:36 reason not to tamper with anything just
5:40 because who else really understands game streaming besides switch and isubu TV
5:46 who else now that's it that's pretty much it so they can't really bring in
5:50 their own experience just because they don't have that experience so I think by
5:55 and large either company would would have left twitch alone
6:00 hard to say because even though twitch has so much more experience with live
6:04 game streaming I think that if if Google
6:07 acquired them and this was this was this was an opinion that I saw kind of echoed
6:12 in a number of different places I think had Google acquired twitch they would
6:16 have been the little brother of YouTube and the YouTube Team could claim to have
6:20 a lot of experience with game streamers because typically archived content even
6:26 from Big Game streamers will do better on YouTube over the long term than it
6:30 does on Twitch in fact twitch has even revised their archiving policies to
6:34 delete to well to try to delete most of people's old footage unless they're
6:38 saving it as a highlight reel cuz no one's really watching it it's just
6:42 taking up space I watch it okay you watch it but but would it kill you to go
6:48 on their YouTube channel to watch
6:52 it okay well from my perspective I watch
6:56 tournaments uh when they're not in the right time zone and or like if I just
7:01 miss it so I'll usually go to that twitch broadcast channel and watch the
7:08 the vods on there whereas I would have to like YouTube and
7:13 search some random channel to find
7:17 right you know this is the this is an interesting take on this I've got a few
7:21 people in the twitch chat suggesting that Amazon was actually buying the
7:25 streaming technology that twitch has been using I don't know if I buy that I
7:30 mean Amazon's already got their on demand video it's not like they don't
7:35 have the backbone to stream video um I I
7:41 really don't think that that's it I mean I think that there's probably a trick or
7:44 two that twitch has developed over the last few years here that is that is
7:48 helping them to do what they're doing but having actually chatted with someone
7:53 pretty high up at twitch around this time last year I mean they were they
7:58 were br forcing a lot of it at least a year ago and there isn't really a way
8:06 without building data centers all over
8:09 the place to make streaming much less
8:12 demanding which happens to be exactly what Amazon has and that's why that's a
8:17 marriage made in heaven and mind you it's much the in much the same way that
8:21 Google and twitch would have been as well because Google also has data
8:24 centers all over the place that would have been able to reduce the latency
8:28 that we all experience with twitch as well as potentially increase the
8:32 quity and reliability of the streams so
8:35 I I totally disagree that Amazon bought
8:38 them for the technology I don't think their technology is anything special
8:41 compared to what Amazon
8:44 does someone says edel stop staring at lonus he can't
8:49 resist oh okay fine I'll I'll stare at
8:52 that I'm trying to listen to you and that's the best way to listen you're
8:56 trying to listen to me that's your first mistake yeah I'm just going to to zoom this in a little
9:03 bit there we go hopefully that's a wow
9:07 because the camera's crooked I look super tall which is not the cas at all
9:12 I'm actually taller than lonus someone says now you have a baby
9:16 you look all grown up I actually have two two kids now and uh I probably look
9:22 grown up because I look old because I am
9:26 super super tired this week it has been a crazy week uh should we talk about it
9:31 a little bit your baby no not my baby
9:35 the the week we've had what would you know about my baby uh
9:40 no name yeah actually we have named her
9:43 now really yes I basically just gave up
9:48 and yvon went with it no I I'm not going to I don't reveal the kids names on uh I
9:53 don't reveal the kids names on the stream or anything it's wona yeah it's
9:57 not it's not wona but uh yeah been we
10:00 have named the baby so we came in on
10:05 Monday morning and since then it's been
10:09 pretty much a blur we have uh okay so
10:14 our main office room all the editing um I painted it while you guys were doing
10:18 arts and crafts wait Monday really yeah
10:22 yeah we got started Monday I think wait what no it's it was supposed to be 3
10:27 days and today was the fourth wasn't it
10:30 oh yeah you're right what did we do
10:34 Monday well Brandon wasn't back
10:38 yet whoa what did we this week feels like
10:43 it's been two weeks have we been at this for five days no no no no no I don't
10:48 think so okay anyway the point is let's say
10:53 Tuesday let's assume it was Tuesday Tuesday Morning um we tore apart the
10:59 office office so all the workstation PCS all the editing machines we tore them
11:04 out of the office and Scattered them throughout the building because there
11:08 was no space for anything we piled all the desks in the middle and Nick and I
11:13 painted the room then um so what were
11:16 you doing on the first day I don't remember like
11:23 I what which was the first day was it Monday or Tuesday Tuesday let's say it
11:27 was Tuesday okay build any PCS on the
11:30 first day I thought on the first
11:34 day Luke was drilling holes into things
11:38 right so the cases we picked needed to
11:41 have two holes drilled in the top of each of them before we could actually
11:45 install any hardware because there was a clearance issue with the radiators in
11:48 spite of our pre-planning that we hoped was going to work so Luke spent a lot of
11:54 time doing that on the first day and then I started building some of the
11:58 computers putting processors on motherboards you helped with that
12:03 installing RAM power supply power supply that was first day yeah that was first
12:07 day and then second day we did we finish
12:11 the computers the second day I think second day we did liquid cooling yeah so
12:16 we finished building the PCS which when it's five PCS is actually somewhat timec
12:21 consuming especially when lonus gets abandoned by Luke so that he can test
12:27 Intel's new fourth gen processors that second day cuz lukee helped on the first
12:31 day yeah I think we're I think we're getting this it's all been a blur we've
12:35 taken so much video and you promised
12:39 that the videos about this are going to be awesome right uh now you're on the spot you
12:44 asked if they would be good not awesome and I said I would make it good okay I
12:51 guess that's what we're going to have to uh to go with we've got people
12:54 complaining about audio sync issues again but the reality of it is guys is I
12:58 think it's just just one of those things where yeah it's nothing to do with mine
13:03 is just broken da no no no those are out those were released today the all new
13:09 fourth gen 8 Core Extreme Edition all that good stuff so
13:15 um would it help if I put the computer here so
13:21 that I told you it looked like I was staring at your crotch okay if I put the
13:25 computer here maybe that'll maybe that'll help a little bit um so on the
13:31 second day we finished building the computers and I don't know whether it's
13:34 because Swift Tech's fittings are super tight or their tubing is a little bit
13:39 big when the weather's really hot but we were having a lot of trouble getting
13:44 fittings on and those computers took
13:47 more than a full day of working to
13:51 install fittings in and install tubing in so then after that that's when Nick
13:57 was working on redoing the to mount the radiator to the outside of
14:01 the house right I don't know about that part just because I was busy fiddling
14:06 with the fittings the entire time yeah Ed was the one we I actually didn't even
14:10 know how swift teex quick disconnects worked and Ed was the one who figured
14:14 out that we have to what does it come with it comes with a socket a G1 quarter
14:19 socket and then we have to put an end cap on instead right yeah yeah how did I
14:24 even figure that out I think I may have just been trying
14:29 to undo the quick disconnect and then I
14:32 couldn't figure that out and just twisting it things came off and I may
14:37 have picked up the wrong piece and tried to put that on but it worked out yeah
14:42 yeah so we figured that out and then through during that time Nick was uh
14:47 realizing along with me that our original plan for mounting the radiators
14:52 on the fascia board like under the roof overhang was not going to work it was
14:58 way too big big and way too heavy like
15:02 that Biz was not happening so Nick had
15:05 to figure out how to build a like a wooden frame around the whole thing and
15:10 then Mount the radiators to that and then we had to find a way to get that on
15:14 the roof and I think that was what we did on the third day we mounted the
15:18 radiator to the roof in the
15:21 morning third day was wasn't that
15:25 yesterday though yeah was that third day yeah we mounted the radiator yesterday
15:29 and then today four days what do on Monday the afternoon yesterday and
15:34 today we have filled the loop now a
15:38 total of three times due to various leaking and configuration
15:45 issues so that's been our week this week uh we can move on to actually I'm going
15:49 to try to uh I'm going to try to upload this file again just because you know I
15:54 can I can have a dream that maybe YouTube won't be broken uh the radiator
15:59 isn't actually on the roof right it's uh
16:04 in between the houses so here are the houses one house our house it's like
16:10 over here and no matter where the sun is
16:13 it's actually in the shade so it's not going to get
16:16 cooked yeah we were actually kind of fortunate that there was somewhere
16:20 sensible to put that because that wasn't
16:23 necessarily um a thing that we plannned
16:27 why is the piping not in the wall no way
16:31 Firefox is working and chrome isn't for
16:34 our upload
16:38 brilliant freaking jokes man jokes man
16:43 are we even using the Steed water no we're not right nope yeah it's just from
16:47 the hose yeah it's from the hose cuz that was how the only way we were able
16:50 to fill it um so lonus went up on the
16:55 ladder radiator we brought up a hose
16:59 into the bathroom and fill it that way this might
17:04 look wrong that definitely looks all
17:10 wrong yeah so that was the only way we could even get water into it because we
17:15 are not using a closed system it's not
17:18 sealed we actually have like a a fill
17:21 tube that goes up above the highest
17:24 level of the of the piping that's in the room so the only way to get any in there
17:29 cuz there's no room to even pour is to put the hose in because if we brought it
17:33 down any lower as soon as the pump stops
17:36 the system would back up and pour water
17:40 which we discovered the hard way once we discovered that it wasn't quite high
17:44 enough were you there for that no I I think I was outside oh no it poured
17:47 water all over me ah yeah I have gotten sprayed with water quite a few times in
17:53 the last few days it has been extremely exciting
17:59 all right so why don't we move on to our next topic here NVIDIA will allegedly
18:05 skip 800 Series Desktop cards and the
18:08 next generation will be called 900
18:11 series this was posted by Rock 1 M1
18:15 originally on the lus tech tips Forum so
18:18 I guess do you want to give the basic facts here why don't we just if you put
18:21 your leg down Wen really we can put this on both of our our legs then we can both
18:25 look like we're staring at each other it was just like room so there's not much
18:30 to talk about yeah so the fact is the rumor is that in order to align with
18:36 what was it the notebook naming scheme they were going to name the notebook
18:41 line G9 or was it GTX 900 yeah or 900m
18:46 but then they thought that it would be confusing because the desktop was still
18:50 on 700 and the notebooks are the
18:53 notebooks were rebranded 800 a little while ago so they're in this weird
18:58 position where they've they've done this at times I mean they've done it right
19:02 now where the notebook ones are a series
19:06 ahead of the desktop ones even though they're running this completely the same
19:11 architecture um but I guess if they
19:14 found themselves two gens ahead on mobile that might get extremely
19:19 confusing and then or if they're planning to refresh both at the same
19:23 time then now's a good time to just kind of skip one and catch up it's not the
19:27 first time they've done it there was never a GTX 380 was that just for mobile uh no there
19:33 was never I don't think there was ever a GTX 300 series at all cuz we got yeah
19:38 they scrapped that yeah yeah I think the the rumor was they just completely
19:41 scrapped the project entirely well the announcement will come
19:47 rumored come on September 9th wow that's
19:51 really soon we've got a lot of stuff going on right now with all the new
19:55 Intel stuff uh ddr4 so our first video
20:00 about the uh in the NVIDIA about the Intel Haswell e 8 Core Extreme Edition
20:06 will actually be coming I think Tuesday
20:09 night so Luke has run all the benchmarks I've scripted the video but we haven't
20:14 had a single video editing workstation up and running in order laptop to
20:19 actually make it so well there was a laptop but we were using that to make
20:24 the videos that we've released over the last couple days so yeah there's been no
20:28 time but guys this thing is a beast
20:33 Intel has finally done it they have
20:36 caught up to the mainstream platform I mean I don't know about the rest of you
20:41 but I have found it extremely frustrating that for must be about 5
20:46 years now you've been able to get better technology by buying into a mainstream
20:52 platform than by buying into an Enthusiast platform I mean what's the
20:57 deal with that and we're not even just talking about CPU architecture so ever
21:02 since the uh the LGA 1156 LGA 1366 days
21:07 ever since then you've been able to get you know things like um Quicks sync
21:13 technology for quick video transcoding you've been able to get more usb3 ports
21:19 native usb3 ports more native SATA 3
21:22 connectors or even native SATA 3 connectors at all back in the x58 days
21:27 like Thunderbolt all this new technology has been coming to the mainstream LGA
21:32 1155 and LGA 1150 platforms before we
21:36 get it on LGA 2011 well now all of that
21:40 changes there is actually a justifiable
21:43 reason to go LGA 20113 so the CPUs are all more course I
21:50 mean that was supposed to be a big selling point even back with x58 was it
21:55 can support more than four cores we had six cores the problem is that the only
21:58 one on the in the consumer space was the 980x it was a and the
22:03 990x and zons I guess but these are not
22:06 these are not really consumer grade price points they were thousand CPUs so
22:12 everyone just went with quad course on the mainstream platform because a few
22:17 more PCI Express Lanes in triple Channel or quad Channel memory is not enough to
22:21 justify a CPU architecture that is inherently anywhere from 8 to 15% slower
22:27 depending on which generational Gap we're looking at regardless of how much
22:32 memory bandwidth it has so now with LG
22:38 20113 we are getting the same CPU
22:41 architecture so it's Haswell or Haswell e but basically Haswell e is just
22:46 Haswell with more Hells we are getting
22:50 ddr4 which right now is very expensive
22:53 for not much of a performance gain but in the future will give us much higher
22:57 speed memory we're getting sad Channel memory we're getting more PCI Express
23:01 Lanes so 40 on the highend chips and then I believe don't quote me on this I
23:05 believe it's either 26 or 28 PCI Express Lanes on the lower end chip we're
23:10 getting the same feature set so we can get Thunderbolt enabled motherboards
23:14 which is really awesome like the x99 deluxe from ASUS has that Thunderbolt
23:18 header so you can add their Thunderbolt 2 expansion card we are getting the
23:23 works and it is what's
23:27 up now are uh saying I'm quiet oh you're
23:30 quiet sorry kind of got on the whole Intel quation I'm on kind of a thing
23:36 because the problem with LGA 2011 was
23:39 there was one CPU that was Within Reach
23:43 for general consumers and it was either the 382k or the 4820k for the last
23:49 couple of generations the problem was that was a quad core chip it was a
23:54 quadcore chip that was more expensive on a more expensive platform form with more
23:59 expensive RAM for literally no performance Improvement unless you
24:04 really need the extra memory bandwidth or you really need a few more PCI
24:07 Express Lanes which most people don't need unless they also need more
24:11 processing cores so in order to even get
24:15 a sensible configuration on LGA 2011 you were spending $600 plus dollars on your
24:19 chip not exactly uh compelling sort of
24:24 you know gamer type of price point well
24:27 now on LGA 2011 3 for around 400 bucks
24:32 you can get a six core so all of a sudden the entire Intel lineup makes
24:37 sense again so on the mainstream you got quad cores up to nice high clocked ones
24:43 like their new Devil's Canyon the 4790k then you pay another I guess it's
24:49 around another $75 to $100 you get two
24:52 more cores plus a more robust more
24:56 Enthusiast grade platform and ddr4 support then beyond that you get a few
25:00 more PCI Express Lanes although I think that lower end one is going to be the
25:04 more appealing one for most enthusiasts and then at the very high end there's
25:07 the extreme Edition the whole thing finally makes sense again so that's what
25:13 I'm excited about and yeah we've got people talking
25:16 about it in twitch chat that six core for 389 looks like a good CPU for the
25:21 money damn right because even though single-threaded performance isn't going
25:25 to be any better overclocking is solid
25:28 ddr4 is going to help a little bit and if you need the extra cores like let's
25:33 say you want to I don't know output videos while you game then you will have
25:38 it someone says hire Luke back
25:41 please lonus everyone is ignoring you and staring at
25:46 edil Luke is not fired well not any more than he's
25:50 usually fired Luke is at packs so he was
25:53 driving last night and he's doing show coverage right now so he and Brandon are
25:59 are doing a great job of that presumably
26:03 they're asking him to poke me they always do this they do this with Luke
26:06 too Luke poke lus why is this room so hot as if I'm not also looking at the
26:10 twitch chat you know what this isn't nearly as hot as it usually is we have a
26:15 fan blowing and we have the window open window's not open the window's not
26:19 open oh you're going to want to open that window that explains why it's so hot in
26:25 here
26:30 oh I love this show all right so in other news that I
26:36 suspect almost nobody cared about origin
26:39 PC and AMD have officially made up so
26:42 origin will once again give buyers the option to use AMD cards in their origin
26:47 PCS this was posted by Juan Wu 26 on the
26:50 Forum um did you even hear about this no
26:55 but I read up on what the comments said and apparently origin PC just got butt
26:59 hurt is that right just because they didn't uh they weren't informed by AMD
27:05 about the Hawaii GPU launch okay so there's a couple of things
27:10 um so rumor number one is that NVIDIA
27:15 had a program where they paid origin
27:18 copious amounts of money to not sell AMD
27:22 but that's just a rumor but that is just a rumor um NVIDIA has come out and said
27:27 that's not true um so that's all we know about that uh
27:33 what I do know is that origin was not at the AMD Hawaii GPU
27:39 event and main gear PC had a demo
27:44 system up running Hawaii gpus at the
27:48 event when origin did not allegedly have any access
27:54 to said GPU so the rumor
27:58 is that origin basically was super upset about that and was like what you don't
28:02 want us to sell your gpus fine we're not going to sell your gpus anyway so
28:06 apparently they have kissed and made up and uh AMD apologized which you know I
28:13 think was probably merited cuz it's one thing if you invite
28:18 you know all your system builder Partners to come and showcase their rigs
28:23 it's another if you pick one favorite one and then leave all the others out or
28:28 even one of the budget concern I don't
28:31 think so I mean that Hawaii event cost a
28:35 fortune maybe that's why there was a budget issue just getting everyone there
28:40 they blew it all on lus wow I mean they had I think they had
28:46 over aund Tech journalists at that
28:49 event so they could have just not invited me and Austin and they could
28:54 have probably afforded to have origin there and then this whole thing could
28:57 have been avoided but who's more important really
29:02 like me and Austin yeah or origin PC I
29:06 think we have to do a straw pull straw pull time guys straw po do you want to
29:12 see what I'm typing you can look at my crotch there we go who okay this is me
29:17 looking at the laptop and this is me looking at his crotch this there's a
29:23 difference lonus and Austin origin PC
29:28 you know what's funny is we're actually going to be covering a really cool new
29:32 product from origin at the show I'm not I'm not down on Origin at all they're
29:35 cool guys they have great products it's just uh just having some fun at their
29:40 expense right now all right here we go here we go I'm
29:43 sorry you're not logged in yeah there you go what the
29:49 deuce all right guys I'm sharing this with you
29:53 now I'm trying to trying desperately to
29:57 you know I'm actually really excited about the technological improvements
30:01 that I think the Amazon acquisition is going to bring to Twitch what's what
30:05 what do you think is going to change I think it will improve reliability
30:08 because Amazon is reliable I mean
30:13 AWS yeah is reliable except for those times that it has gone down and led to
30:20 dozens of sites being offline okay when
30:24 when AWS has a problem I think the new
30:28 news about it gets Amplified I don't think that's because AWS has tons of
30:33 problems compared to other services I think it's just that because they host
30:37 so much it's a lot more noticeable when
30:41 there's some kind of an issue I
30:46 think I think that might be an issue in
30:50 itself just because if twitch goes down
30:53 with like abson hosting it and like 10 other sites that you
31:00 might go to also go down right you know what are you left with whereas if those
31:05 go down you still have twitch so you can you can watch us well I suspect that
31:10 they will be I mean unless you know an entire data center loses power and is
31:14 underwater or something like that I suspect you won't see an outright outage
31:18 of something like twitch you might see the service slow down in much the same
31:22 way that we often see happen now but it has happened right right hasn't it
31:28 pretty sure where it's like oh blah blah blah is
31:32 down and it's all leads to Amazon being
31:36 down very rare but I think the thing we can all agree on is that lonus and
31:41 Austin were much more important to invite to the Hawaii event than origin
31:44 PC so we're really sorry about that origin you know you guys uh you guys you
31:49 guys tried you know you tried to be as cool as me and Austin but unfortunately
31:53 that wasn't going to happen all right what do we got for our next topic
31:58 aha valve will optimize their streaming
32:01 service with NVIDIA Hardware so this is
32:05 from the NVIDIA blog let's go ahead and share my screen with you guys
32:09 here there we go valin NVIDIA just made
32:13 game streaming better than ever last week valve officially released support
32:16 for Hardware en coding on NVIDIA GeForce gpus in the steam client pair the
32:21 support with one of the latest GeForce GTX gpus and you can play remotely from
32:24 your PC connected to any steam enabled system in your home at resolutions of up
32:28 1080 60p
32:32 so I think this is kind of NVIDIA making
32:36 a lot of noise about something that was bound to happen eventually and really
32:39 not that different from much anything else anyhow but it's great I mean have
32:46 you tried steam in home streaming no no okay it is awesome and I've actually
32:53 spent a little bit of time on Steam Chat with the lead Dev for Ste in home
32:58 streaming um and he was I was chatting to him about sort of video encoding and
33:03 decoding and what they're doing with respect to lowering latency and it's
33:09 absolutely fascinating because they basically have to rackle it from a
33:15 different angle for every different combination of encoders and decoders in
33:20 order to make sure that everything is compatible and everything not only works
33:25 but is extremely low latency so you
33:28 don't feel that Network lag when you move the keyb and or when you press the
33:32 keybard move the mouse what do I play overing home streaming almost anything
33:36 I've even played FPS games is that to The Shield or no so one of the
33:45 potential problems with streaming within
33:49 the home so from a a more powerful PC to
33:52 a smaller device or a laptop or another PC was I saw potential competing
33:59 standards as a roadblock the fact that
34:02 NVIDIA had their own technology where it was like okay you need a GeForce GPU you
34:07 got to install GeForce experience on your PC you got to have an NVIDIA Shield
34:12 branded device so whether it's a portable handheld or the tablet and you
34:18 got to have a supported router and that is it you plug in all these things and
34:21 then all the check marks come on and it works so I kind of saw that as a
34:27 potential problem problem compared to valve solution which is okay do you have
34:32 a graphics card great do you have a CPU
34:36 also great do you have some other thing great it works except the other thing
34:42 has to run Steam and the first thing has to run Steam as well and then depending
34:47 on the hardware you were going to either have a really great experience if you
34:50 had nice fast Hardware encoding and decoding or you were going to have a
34:54 super crummy experience so for example LGA 11
34:58 1156 CPUs were available in either dual
35:01 core with onboard Graphics or quad core
35:05 with no onboard Graphics configurations the dual core would have
35:10 been able to support Hardware accelerated
35:13 decoding the quad core could not so there was some tricky stuff with
35:19 respect to making sure you had a configuration that was going to work with steam and home streaming so now
35:24 seeing NVIDIA and valve work together on this I now have complete confidence that
35:29 whether you're going to run Windows or you're going to run Steam OS people who
35:33 run AMD people who run AMD are still
35:36 going to be okay because valve is going to work with AMD as well Val because AMD
35:40 doesn't even have a competing solution they don't have free stream or whatever
35:45 it is they would call something like that you think they will so many people
35:51 have actually just gone with NVIDIA and
35:54 like completely abandoned AMD is it's funny you mention that
35:58 because the market share isn't that much different than it was 5 years ago AMD's
36:04 always kind of been in that 20 to 35%
36:08 range of the discret desktop GPU
36:11 Market that's all they really
36:15 got AMD free stream we have to start
36:18 that we have to make that happen we have to tell AMD that they have to have like
36:23 um like a a Freel handheld and then they
36:27 have to have like AMD free stream and and that should that should be
36:33 awesome for the AMD
36:36 people I'd be really interested to see valve I mean I'm I'm hoping that this is
36:41 an announcement they make in the next six months to a year but it would put
36:45 the final nail in the NVIDIA game stream coffin for me if valve released an
36:49 Android steam client and
36:53 I I see them potentially heading this
36:57 way already they ported portal to Android they ported halflife 2 to
37:02 Android they already have a steam
37:05 app so how far are we away from Steam
37:09 being your gaming Hub potentially on Android as well with all of these other
37:14 fantastic steam features running natively on Android or being streamed
37:19 running natively on Android that's what I'd like to see because then with valve
37:24 behind it I mean all the respect in the world world to the Limelight guys every
37:29 time I've used Limelight the latency has not been comparable to NVIDIA game
37:34 stream valve on the other hand I have faith that they could make that happen
37:39 and they could make streaming from your PC AMD powered Invidia powered Intel
37:46 onboard powered who cares I think they could make that a great experience
37:50 streaming to any device that has a beefy enough um h264 decoder chip on board
37:56 apparently NVIDIA did ports NVIDIA did the ports themselves
38:01 don't think so I know that NVIDIA was deeply involved in the ports but valve
38:06 was also involved in porting those games and even then I mean the fact that valve
38:10 was even willing to entertain
38:15 that I don't know we'll see I mean it's going to be it's going to be a big it's
38:21 going to be a big battle for what is the next gaming platform of choice Beyond on
38:27 the PC and Beyond really not so much the PC cuz I don't think the PC is going
38:31 anywhere but beyond the console it's either going to be some type of
38:36 lightweight PC something like an Alienware Alpha or something like uh any
38:40 other sort of lightweight desktop type machine running Steam OS or some other
38:45 Linux derivative or even Windows or it's
38:49 going to be Android and if you look at the overall strategy valve and NVIDIA
38:54 both obviously believe in different things here with valve thinking we're heading the direction of steam PCS or
38:59 whatever they want to call them and NVIDIA thinking we're headed towards Android but I don't think either of them
39:04 really Minds if it's the other one or some mix of the two because NVIDIA can
39:09 still sell you gpus over here and valve can still sell you games over
39:13 here so I wasn't listening at all I was
39:17 reading twitch chat did they say anything interesting or are they just
39:20 telling you to poke me more something about your crotch maybe
39:25 ah yes my crotch my crotch is is uh definitely one of the top subjects of
39:31 discussion on the stream today love it so originally posted by
39:37 Mech 777 the article from Hardware
39:40 360.com I'm just going to go ahead and fire this baby up here Witcher 3 Dev
39:46 promises only 30 FPS on
39:51 consoles what w although the funny thing
39:55 about this is that
39:58 uh they basically said okay we're going to be aiming for the highest resolution
40:03 possible but full HD 1080p would likely
40:07 not be possible and the only thing they could promise was 30 FPS so essentially
40:12 even though you know there have been some complaints about there being a
40:17 console release at least what the uh you
40:20 know PC Master race subreddit can uh
40:25 take some consolation in is the the fact that the experience on the console is
40:30 going to be significantly degraded is David still here David yeah yeah is can
40:36 you get the door when it rings in a minute thank you UPS is outside I think
40:42 they've got a uh Cooler Master power supply for edel's new dual Titan 12 core
40:48 editing workstation yeah that's your new power supply man and something else H yeah
40:53 David's gonna David's gonna grab it we should say hi to the UPS guy
40:57 I don't think you can hear me I think he's got his Bluetooth headset in have you ever really gotten into a
41:02 Witcher game yeah I love The Witcher games okay tell me what's appealing
41:07 about them I've tried both Witcher one and Witcher 2 enlighten me I find that
41:13 the character interactions
41:16 are above the standard that you might be
41:19 used to for most games uh the main character is actually kind of shitty he
41:24 like no offense no offense to the voice
41:28 actor or the writers but isn't that by
41:31 default isn't that who you just offended saying no offense doesn't make it
41:36 unoffensive okay fine full offense to
41:39 anyone involved but geralt is kind of a
41:44 shitty character he's always like dead pan and I don't know he's just not a
41:49 very good character but but everyone else is a good character and they
41:54 develop and like their interactions with uh you
41:57 are interesting and like it's all based on novels so like they are actually
42:03 fleshed out and uh just like playing in
42:07 that that world that actually exists in
42:10 detail somewhere uh is nicer than other games
42:16 that's that's what I like about it like how they create their creatures they
42:20 have a lore you can read up on them so on and so forth hey David could we
42:25 actually get those those things yeah do mind I just want to
42:29 find out what this is I'm hoping it's Dominator platinum ddr4 and we can show
42:35 that to you guys okay because I have
42:39 I've tried both times and within actually the funny thing is with Witcher
42:43 2 I even got like an hour and a half in
42:46 because I was looking for a consistent benchmarking spot and I just I did not
42:52 find it compelling at all thank you sir do you like fantasy
42:57 RPGs anyway I made it all the way through Dragon
43:02 Age one uh yeah Dragon Age 2 I did not find
43:08 nearly as compelling that was kind of shitty compared to uh this one Dragon
43:12 Age one was really great though I really enjoyed it I don't have a
43:16 knife I do what is this who's it
43:20 from oh it is from Corsair but I don't know what it is it
43:24 doesn't feel heavy enough to be dominator platinums wa chat guess what
43:28 it is let's play a guessing game live
43:35 unboxings
43:42 okay oh am I not supposed to swear I don't care okay try not to drop drop F
43:48 Bombs all over the place you know oh
43:51 it's the new um Corsair link thing cool
43:55 so this is supposed a pretty big improvement over the old one wow it's
44:00 much lower profile I don't know how much they've shown of this yet so I'm going
44:04 to just kind of put that back in the box for now but uh cool so we're definitely
44:09 going to check that out and then the other
44:13 one here you want to do the honors I like how you just toss things ah it's
44:18 It's Not Fragile it's Corsair it's made by Corsair so it's pretty
44:24 good unlikely to break we've actually thrown horse aair power supplies out of
44:28 out of cars and drop them off roofs speaking of great power supplies though
44:34 this is one of the finest power supplies available on the market 80 plus Platinum
44:40 1200 watt fully modular so this is a vs
44:43 series power supply from Cooler Master because we realized as we were building
44:49 the rigs for the whole room liquid cooling setup that we had asked Cooler
44:53 Master for 750 wat power supplies with the assumption that I was going to be
44:58 getting one of the Titan blacks well after much debate and much um
45:05 concealment of the actual are just like yeah let give me
45:11 the Titan yeah so I ended up with an old
45:14 GTX 285 that we had lying around
45:18 somewhere in my rig and Ed ended up with two Titans and we kind of went shoot is
45:24 750 watts even enough probably not so
45:28 cuz he's got three graphics cards in there uh what is it the two Titans and a
45:32 Quadro yeah two Titans and a Quadro plus the 10 gbit Ethernet card plus the 12
45:38 core processor so we're talking about
45:41 the kind of rig that these types of power supplies are legitimately made for
45:46 actually we should actually like measure how much it actually takes we should
45:50 measure like when you're when you're um dinking around in Cinema 4D we should
45:55 have a look at what kind of power consumption when you're hitting the RAM
45:58 the gpus and the CPU all same used that
46:01 much uh during octane oh that's right now so yeah it's
46:06 all it's all what I'm going to give the floor to you while I go get a drink of
46:10 water um would you like one too can you get my energy drink in the other room
46:14 sure yeah I'll grab your energy drink but I want you to justify because people
46:18 haven't really I think been able to
46:22 understand why anyone could possibly need a 12 core CPU 64 gigs of RAM dual
46:27 Titan blacks and a Quadro in one machine
46:30 can you justify what the heck it is you do around here that you need that kind
46:34 of power for I'll be right back justify that
46:38 okay where to start where to
46:46 start all right so for the the 12 core
46:51 processor um well I use after effects
46:54 pretty much exclusively these days no that's that's a lie uh most for the big
47:01 projects like the build guides I guess that's it these days um I use after
47:06 effects to do Motion Graphics for the intro the lower thirds and then I've
47:12 also started to use Cinema 4D and I have
47:17 the octane renderer engine which is
47:20 fully GPU accelerated so to put this
47:27 to I guess size this up against each other uh my six core processor would
47:32 render a frame in about six minutes one GPU would render one frame
47:39 in 1 minute 30 seconds I'll be back actually I'm not quite ready
47:43 yet two gpus would be around 45 seconds
47:47 I can't do math uh so three it's bound
47:52 to be what 20ish 25 seconds someone do
47:57 the math for me
48:02 please porn why are we talking about porn I don't get
48:11 this uh the yeah it's a one frame and
48:15 six second or 6 minutes because it's like 3D Ray tracing no it's actually
48:20 like Photon something or other but it's definitely more intensive than 2D video
48:25 would you like to sit back down yeah
48:29 sure I noticed in my absence you just completely took over the entire couch
48:35 awesome so had you made it through all of the components yet uh I don't think
48:39 I've Justified the RAM yet okay so in
48:43 After Effects to use multiprocessor rendering you have to assign each core
48:48 some RAM ideally you want to assign it
48:51 three gigs each I don't have enough for that so I so I assign it two G GS that's
48:58 what 2 * 12 no 24 because it counts the
49:02 separate threads as a core right 4 48
49:06 gigs so that's 48 I guess I could no
49:09 that brings it up to no you used to have no you did you didn't used to be able to
49:13 do it because you had six cores 12 threads 12 * 3 is
49:18 36 and you had 32 gigs whereas with the
49:21 new 64 gig config you'll have 24 threads time yeah
49:26 you still won't have yeah I can still only assign 12 gigs to it yeah but you
49:30 know what we could try as an experiment we could try turning off
49:34 hyperthreading because hyperthreading will give you a uh you know probably a
49:38 10 to 15% boost but you might get more
49:42 of a boost by being able to assign more RAM to your course interesting we should
49:45 play around with that that's going to be cool anyway sorry some mac users have
49:49 allegedly disabled some cores but that's not hyperthreading no
49:55 you can you can oh because the Mac Pro only has four memory slots but then you
50:00 can load it with ECC RAM so h t it I
50:04 still have more slots on there right yeah you have eight slots could get more
50:09 RAM um yes a uh ASUS has a beta BIOS for
50:13 the x79 deluxe that supports uh 16 gig
50:17 dims but only certain ones not the ones
50:20 that we originally obtained for the project okay so sorry you were
50:24 justifying why you need why you need all these uh I Justified the Cinema 4D just
50:29 because uh linear performance scaling
50:32 with graphics cards which is amazing I think I need two more Titans honestly
50:38 cuz Okay take the cost of a Titan right and
50:44 then ,000
50:47 take count how many hours an extra Titan
50:51 would save me in rendering in the one project we've everever done one so far
50:56 more it could be more if I could do things faster I could do more of those
51:02 and that's how I'm trying to justify two more Titans well you've got two why
51:06 don't we see how it goes from
51:11 there anyway so because of him I don't
51:15 even have a DisplayPort output so my LG monitor is running on a DVI to HDMI
51:21 adapter and HDMI in at 50 HZ so I'm
51:25 going to have to obtain some other kind of GPU for my system and when that
51:30 happens I guess around the same time we're going to add another pump to the
51:33 whole room setup so that bleeding air from the system is much much easier
51:38 because right now the only way to bleed the air from the lines that go down and
51:43 then up to each system from the top of the room is to disconnect all the other
51:48 systems so that the main pump is only pushing through one system so that we
51:52 can get all the air bubbles out but what's cool is the way we have it
51:57 working right now none of the systems
52:01 even have pumps on so if we could close
52:04 the door to the server room the fans are on the fans are running you still want
52:08 fans running but we wouldn't have to have them all running so the way that
52:11 it's set up right now if we could close the door to the server room we could actually have the room be extremely
52:17 quiet which uh how loud is the the red
52:20 not bad not bad but what I'm thinking is we might get um like a variable power
52:25 supply so we could dial it into 8 volts or something like that cuz with 20
52:30 Noctua industrial N2 fans and then five
52:34 quad radiators it's way more than enough for the systems that we have in there we
52:39 actually had it running passively for hours today with three of the systems
52:44 idling and Ed's 12 core priming and we
52:47 you managed to raise it what like two degrees what on passive yeah passive
52:52 without the fans even running 100% it was 40 8° C idle was 30 yeah I mean but
53:01 um when you had it priming it went up to about 50° C Max
53:06 right it's about the same was it about the same okay maybe we didn't even
53:10 manage to increase the temps but I'm thinking in the winter we may not have
53:14 to disconnect from the whole room system what we might do is just turn off all
53:19 the fans and then if we have enough or or turn on only a few of the fans so
53:25 what I'm thinking is as like a phase two if Luke and I
53:29 could find a way to have a temperature
53:32 controlled um switch for each Bank of fans so as
53:39 water temperature reaches X degre
53:43 another bank of fans turns on and as it reaches X degrees another bank turns on
53:47 and then they turn off to prevent the entire water cooling system from getting
53:52 so cold that we have condensation problems so that that could be like a
53:57 phase two where it actually intelligently maintains its temperature
54:01 at a specific setting can you set uh fan
54:05 curve without without a PC connected to it we yeah there would be a way actually
54:11 yes a t balancer can be configured with
54:17 extra mini controllers and those will run oh I geta
54:23 you you program them so you don't actually have to have the software
54:27 interacting with it that could even work
54:32 stupid it's it's so stupid it might just
54:35 be brilliant this is getting stupider and stupider I love
54:38 it oo I'm excited oh we had someone in
54:42 the twitch chat figure out the tea balancer thing before I said it so we got to give them a shout out for that
54:46 who is it who is it where are you I can't find it because I don't have that
54:50 stupid plugin installed in my browser so I can't scroll up anyway good job um you
54:55 know what we should probably do our spa spots before we completely run out of
54:58 time today so first up is 54 Club so
55:02 guys to be clear the 54 Club offer has
55:06 actually changed a little bit so now
55:10 instead of saving $15 on your first package they are actually going to send
55:16 you all the clothing that you ordered and they're just going to put cash money
55:20 in the Box for you $10 cash bo like actually cash like dollar bills or
55:26 whatever ever that is that is it so
55:29 rather than like an online discount
55:33 they're offering $10 cash back in the packaging that doesn't make any sense
55:37 like okay sure why not so guys the whole
55:41 thing with 54 Club is that it takes the effort out of shopping so I'm just going
55:46 to pull up their site so I can show you guys how the whole thing
55:50 works here we go line is to screen share
55:53 actually I should probably move that there we go shopping sucks let us take
55:57 care of making you look good now edel you enjoy shopping correct I love
56:02 shopping lonus you know me so well I thought you do like shopping you like
56:07 wearing nice clothes yeah I
56:11 guess okay so even even the ones who
56:14 like wearing nice clothes apparently I really I thought you enjoyed shopping
56:18 for clothes you wanted to go shopping in Vegas when we were there the first year
56:22 yeah but there's not there wasn't much else to do like outside outside of the
56:26 park fres just like what is in Vegas
56:29 besides gambling I hate gambling so the way 54 Club works is
56:34 every month they send you a package of clothes so you can look and feel great
56:39 you take a quick survey it takes literally less than a minute Luke and I
56:43 both actually timed it see I'm actually you know what that's what we're going to
56:47 do today we are going to do the survey in fact check this out they even put a
56:51 timer in the corner so that you can you can realize as you finish that you uh
56:58 took less than a minute to do it so what should we go
57:01 for okay I'm going to have you do the survey Ed do business casual here hold
57:05 on I actually really like the 54 system just because okay you want business
57:09 casual yeah okay all right can I get this I scroll down the page uh what's
57:14 your favorite color to wear H it's buil
57:18 fall now right so maybe a red or brown
57:21 no let's go with blue let's go with blue what does blue have to do with fall okay
57:25 what's your second favorite color to wear let's go with a gray let's go with
57:30 that let's go with a gray third favorite color let's go with brown okay Brown and
57:36 then what is your top size medium medium
57:40 what is your bottom size 32 all right 32
57:45 what does your bottom fit straight straight fit yep shoe size
57:50 H oh jeez nine what shoe you're probably about a nine yeah okay okay and then
57:57 which do you like
58:01 more striped go striped all right what
58:04 is your second favorite shirt type solid solid all right so you're not a plaid
58:08 guy is what you're trying to say raw or washed for your jeans uh raw Gotta Love
58:12 The Raw okay what kind of denim style do you prefer fashion fashion denim t-shirt
58:19 preference fashion fashion okay and
58:23 shoes oh they're both
58:27 now let good with b b all right so there
58:30 you go total time lapsed 101 seconds all right so it took us a little longer than
58:34 60 seconds but the main point is on your first time you get $10 cash back so sign
58:41 up at bit.ly Linus FFC and try it out we
58:45 actually had uh a 54 Club sponsorship spot that we did a while back that um
58:51 was a total disaster I got all of the
58:54 the pricing wrong got the offer for their July thing totally wrong but you
59:00 know what's hilarious is they actually reached out to us and said a whole bunch
59:04 of our viewers signed up so in the next couple minutes I'd like to hear from any
59:10 of you who signed up for 54 Club go ahead and tweet with # Linus
59:16 54 not because I'm 5'4 inches tall I'm
59:20 much taller than that what's the offer code um someone asked sorry someone
59:24 asked what the offer code was uh offer
59:28 code is lonus I believe 54 Linus let me
59:31 just double check I really love uh the
59:34 54 system just because
59:37 like I don't have time to go shopping
59:40 like during the weekdays just because I leave here at 6 no
59:45 5:30 oh apparently we've used hash Linus 54 before all righty
59:51 then um okay 54
59:58 for those of you just tuning in uh Luke
60:02 is off at packs I'm
60:05 edel edel Yago on Twitter I guess me
60:10 doing that doesn't really do anything does it I don't think so
60:13 yeah follow
60:17 me that I'm posting the link guys just make sure you use the link and I believe
60:22 offer code is lonus so give that a try
60:25 all right and then so yeah if I'm going to see if anyone has actually tweeted
60:29 with the hashtag hashtag I want to hear what you
60:33 guys think of it Linus
60:36 54 I did caps lock so 22 seconds ago all
60:42 you did was use the hashtag you didn't actually tell me what you think of it
60:46 okay so maybe we'll come back to this later but in the meantime Twitter is
60:50 hard our I know Twitter is so difficult our second sponsor this week is hyper X
60:55 memor so they are actually our gold sponsor for our P Prime coverage Luke
61:00 and Brandon are down there at the show
61:03 and hopefully having a ton of fun bringing you guys a ton of great coverage over the next um I guess it'll
61:09 be is Friday Saturday Saturday Sunday
61:12 Monday um all the packs Prime coverage should be landing so they're going to be
61:16 covering some game stuff they're going to be covering some of the hardware
61:19 stuff and you guys should definitely definitely get excited about that I
61:24 think Luke is going to be trying to get all of his work done in the
61:29 first uh I think what was he trying to
61:32 do trying to get all of his work done in the first two days and then try to spend
61:37 a bunch of time gaming so if you're going to be down in the byoc down at PA
61:41 Prime definitely go say hi to Luke and Brandon they're both going to be there
61:44 Nick's going to be there as well and Luke actually has my computer down there
61:51 so if you've ever wanted to see my personal rig in person and you're going
61:55 to be down at packs and you're going to be in the byoc that's basically going to
61:59 be the requirements he um didn't have time to fix up his Spotswood test bench
62:05 and he asked if uh if he could build up a rig from some of the parts around the
62:09 office and I was just like well I got a newborn I'm not gaming this weekend
62:14 so yeah I guess you can just take my rig
62:18 so I thought that was pretty darn cool all right so just someone did it in
62:24 14 seconds someone did what did the 54
62:28 thing in 14 seconds yeah I don't think they actually chose things right or they
62:33 might just be like I that's kind of fun
62:36 maybe for our next uh maybe for our next 54 integration thing we should actually
62:40 make that a contest let's see who can do the 54 survey in the least amount of
62:45 time um just so you know guys uh the pricing for 54 so per month is 60 bucks
62:51 they send you a sticker price of sorry what's up what's the 54 hash
62:56 oh oh sorry sorry sorry I'll post that
62:59 okay so # Linus 54 guys so hit us on
63:04 Twitter with that I want to hear what you think of the service now that you've
63:07 been using it so it's 60 bucks a month and then you get a total value of $100
63:13 worth of clothing and then the first month they're just going to send you $10
63:17 in the box so you get effectively a $10 discount on your first month oh and
63:22 something I should mention about um hyperx's sponsorship for PAX Prime is
63:27 they really wanted me to tell you guys yo check out their YouTube channel
63:31 because they've been doing a lot of really cool stuff on it lately so you
63:35 just go to youtube.com/ I think just
63:38 hyperx works now as well no it doesn't so youtube.com/ Kingston
63:45 hyperx and they've been doing a bunch of really cool stuff so aside from just
63:50 like yeah you know here's some really
63:53 great memory and headsets and USB drives and stuff you should probably you should
63:57 probably try it out they've also got a bunch of really cool content that's like
64:02 um bloggy style or skits or interviews
64:05 with pro orts athletes so um they're
64:08 doing a fantastic job of releasing a ton
64:12 of interesting content when you compare that to what other brand names tend to
64:16 do on their YouTube channels where it's like yet another place to put an ad um I
64:22 think their approach is really stands out from the crowd so I I like how uh
64:27 they've been doing a lot of a lot of videos or ads with actual Pro Gamers I
64:34 like they're they're not they're not
64:37 actors so so they're kind of terad I
64:41 wasn't sure if I could say that or not but that's fine it's genuine yeah it is
64:45 genuine and it does help the Esports scene so I I do really appreciate that
64:50 so I mean actually this is this is funny we uh check this out we we creeped them
64:55 on W show last week to have a look at how their YouTube channel is growing and
65:01 they had added let's look at their full monthly statistics they had added almost
65:05 half of their total subscriber count in the previous two weeks or rather month
65:10 and this time it looks like they've pretty much done it again they have
65:15 added 20,000 and they have a total of 44,000 subscribers so they're growing
65:19 extremely quickly so someone likes something that they're doing
65:27 this is this is funny I've got kgh HT 222 in the twitch chat saying that the
65:32 uh the $60 a month for 54 Club is an average of $2 a day for clothing I doubt
65:38 even Bill Gates spends $800 a year on clothing Bill Gates I don't think he
65:43 really on top of of that fashion thing
65:46 or I don't think he even cares I think Bill Gates probably spends more than
65:50 $800 a year on clothing I think he's he
65:54 might be one of those people who buys like really expensive uh polos that are
65:59 like bulletproof okay so I don't know I I wish I could meet
66:06 Bill Gates Bill Gates meet me please
66:09 yeah Bill Gates Bill if you're watching man you know we'd love to uh we'd love
66:14 to have you on the show
66:18 sometime people are really complaining about $60 a month for clothes like I no
66:24 offense to people but clothes are kind of expensive if you care about like keep
66:31 up well no you can look not homeless without spending all that much money but
66:37 to keep up with anything it's kind of a lot of work all
66:42 right so we are we are going to do it we are going to go unfiltered and have a
66:46 look at what you guys have to say about 54 this will either be a great endorsement for the service or if you
66:51 guys hate it then there'll be that um here we go
66:57 is better than anyone they sent me clothes in the box without the face of
67:01 Neptune got to love my socks all right
67:06 Timothy says they have great clothing Dana says like all things I
67:11 don't like the cost of shipping to Canada yes 54 is more expensive to ship
67:15 to Canada okay Jacob Ingram says I just
67:19 wanted to say you're pretty awesome edel I think you're skipping ahead Sam Palmer
67:23 says I wish it was available in Australia would love to use the system
67:27 ROM says love it thanks for recommending it and high
67:31 Linus Le suggests that lonus do the boiling water challenge thanks Lew I
67:37 jackass that's a thing um okay Amir says I really like
67:43 the system but sadly I'm only 14 and constantly changing sizes actually I
67:48 would see that as an advantage if you budget for it and you let cuz Okay the
67:53 way 54 works is they have like a style advis who you work with directly and who
67:58 handpicks your clothing every month so they actually have someone that you can
68:02 contact and be like yo dog I Chang sizes so just throwing that out there it's
68:07 interesting e0 says did it in 20
68:11 seconds all right Brien asks try to make
68:15 the service available in the UK short sweatpants and graphic T-shirts
68:20 they don't have my style I like shorts sweatpants and graphic t-shirts is that
68:24 a style I don't know that's sweatpants and graphic t-shirts are a style I think
68:28 that might be your issue Sam says the guy who wears socks and
68:34 sandwi I don't wear sweatpants have you ever seen me wear
68:38 sweatpants I want to say you have but I
68:42 think I did once I was really sick all
68:45 right oh sometime well sometimes you walk around in pajamas I think not here
68:50 recent oh at home yes I've actually done videos in my pajamas uh Jack says love
68:55 the surface Brett says come to Australia okay I think we've given 54 enough
68:59 screen time at this point they should be pretty they should be pretty happy cuz
69:02 we've like blabbed about them forever um
69:05 see this is the problem we always start talking about like the sponsor value ad
69:10 and then it's like this is a good discussion
69:13 topic clothes are overrated all right I'm letting you deal with this one it
69:17 was originally posted by Mushi on the Forum and the original article is from
69:21 computer andv video games.com but um Nintendo says goodbye
69:26 to casual gamers what exactly here I'm
69:30 just going to bring up the article before I hand you the laptop that's what it looks like what exactly do they mean
69:35 by that well who that didn't
69:39 work oh which didn't work the the article
69:44 thing up oh no no that's okay the article's gone well
69:48 apparently uh because smartphones and
69:51 apple in particular is taking
69:56 over the uh casual gaming Market they
69:59 don't really see a need to
70:03 to okay noad to uh keep to keep making
70:07 games for the Casual gaming Market which makes sense because you'd be competing
70:12 with people who don't really want to play games anyway unless it's convenient
70:18 so I like the direction they're going with this I don't like it at all why not
70:23 you look at one of their most SU successful products in the last 10 years
70:28 the DS the DS was all about the Casual
70:31 experience for me I played more bomber man on my DS than anything
70:36 else but you've also played games like
70:40 uh what is it Bravely Default yes how
70:43 did you like that bra default was good until it completely crapped the bed
70:49 okay but okay let's ask the chat how many of
70:53 you guys are or like casual
70:57 games on nintend okay here do you guys think Nintendo still has a contribution
71:03 to make to Casual games or should they
71:07 focus on the stuff that looks casual in terms of the art style like Mario Kart
71:11 and smash BRS but is actually extremely hardcore in terms of the game balancing
71:16 and the game playay so there why don't we do straw pull here do you want to
71:20 fire up do you know how straw pull works yeah yeah make up make up a straw pull I
71:23 want to I want to hear from you guys does Nintendo still have a contribution
71:26 to make or do you just want them to focus on what I mean really they're very
71:31 good at you know Zelda I would make the argument that in spite of how cartoony
71:36 something like okarina of time might have looked is definitely a gamer title
71:40 not a casual title
71:44 okay um go ahead and post that you just
71:47 have to kind of spam it a little bit and do the permissive vote yeah there you go
71:58 I'm totally I have I have one more straw poll in mind before the end of the show
72:02 that I'm totally going to Blindside you
72:05 with it's going to be fun all right spam
72:08 spam spam what people say okarina is cartoony uh yeah come on little
72:17 fairy where did I put that H disappeared
72:20 yeah the twitch chat just moves really fast I mean my straw tab
72:25 there we go boom JJJ says lonus do you
72:29 see this no all right let's go ahead and screen
72:33 share here so you mentioned Mario and Super Smash Brothers yeah I love Super
72:39 Mario Kart I play it with the ncx guys like every week and then like we go to
72:44 Chris's and then play it some more uh
72:47 that's definitely not a casual game just cuz I know it's freaking
72:52 hard and it's great love it I I probably
72:56 spend more play more time playing Super Mario Kart than Mario Mario Kart yeah
73:03 sorry that's what I started with the Super Mario Kart on
73:08 SNES I on consoles I've played that more
73:13 than any other game on a console really yes that much yeah so would you say that
73:19 okay so because the the wi's whole value ad was supposed to be we fit and wi
73:25 Sports terrible flinging the wi mode around okay so that that was the we so
73:29 so if Nintendo's direction is okay Wii U
73:33 we're going to go back to 1080p 60 FPS
73:37 and hardcore titles could you be sold a
73:41 Wii U if they made more hardcore titles yeah
73:46 if they did more Mario Kart class titles
73:51 on the Wii U would you consider buying one if no one else in my like group of
73:57 friends had a wiu then yes like honestly
74:02 for Mario Kart I would just buy a Wii U just for Mario Kart it's a really good
74:07 party game okay so that's so that's it that's
74:12 the issue then because okay from so from a business is kind of an issue because
74:16 from a business standpoint if the objective is to sell more copies of the
74:20 game and more consoles are they going to be doing themselves any favors by
74:25 eliminating casual games in favor of I
74:29 mean arguably the two examples that we came up with of great Nintendo hardcore
74:35 titles party
74:39 games
74:43 well so are you're asking whether or not
74:46 it's better for Nintendo to make party
74:49 games and sell fewer consoles than
74:52 casual games and sell more like yeah but
74:56 do you have any stats for that no no I don't no I don't I'm just saying that it
75:00 feels like a problem that the titles that you and I are discussing that could
75:04 sell the console to us are titles that
75:07 really only one person within a group of friends really needs to own unless
75:11 you're going to be unless you're going to be one of those people like Luke who sits and practices Mario Kart so that
75:16 when everyone comes and plays with him he just wrecks everybody those people
75:20 are bad people by the way people who practice party games no I think bad
75:25 people Anthony and Chris probably Jack
75:29 Me Maybe too probably better than uh Luke at uh Mario Kart really yeah even
75:37 though you didn't know the name of the game Mario Cart doesn't matter if
75:42 there's super on there or an eight on the end same thing same thing okay and
75:46 actually uh Chris's girlfriend amazing at Super Nintendo's uh Mario Kart really
75:51 yeah ridiculous all right all right well you
75:55 know what we will have to do we will have to do some game streaming sometime
75:59 uh sometime maybe we'll go over to Luke's house or something or um yeah we
76:03 could yeah we'll play some to bring all no we'll play some Mario Kart I have a
76:07 land PC no no Mario Kart oh marioart
76:10 you'll have to show us your you'll have to show us your skills we we'll have to see how that goes you know what's funny
76:15 though is we could actually do PC game
76:18 streaming from the office now everybody's work machine is now
76:24 legit a legit gaming rig I need to SLI
76:29 that oh yeah we never put an SLI bridge in your machine well in theory you
76:33 wouldn't need it whatever I
76:38 need have you played Battlefield have I played Battlefield 4
76:43 yeah not really I played a little bit of the single player and got Bor can I borrow those the Titans you want to
76:48 borrow the Titans how are you going to get them out of the machine scissors yeah that's what I
76:52 thought no absolutely not so ised the
76:57 first time uh last week with uh S Dual
77:00 770s Battlefield is running all right
77:03 but I am using a 2-year-old 8150 that
77:08 lonus gave me for free when I started interning for him at NCI ex Tech tip
77:13 that was like two years ago yeah it was wow yeah and apparently the 8150 is
77:18 bottled necking my two Sly cards yeah
77:21 that 8150 was uh that was like that was
77:25 like the uh the the the [ __ ] chip even
77:29 then and you gave it to me for for my hard work yeah thanks lonus hey you got
77:35 RAM and a motherboard and I'm pretty
77:39 sure a GPU at some point so yeah it
77:42 wasn't all it wasn't all terrible all right so Razer cortex their
77:48 Deal's video game tracker is now in this
77:52 is in Early Access right now correct yep all right so basically bye David bye
77:57 David so basically one of the best things about being a PC Gamer you know
78:02 just ask PC Gamers there is no
78:06 $59.99 I mean there is for like two days
78:10 or if it's South Park Stick of Truth man that hurt I didn't buy that till like
78:14 months after release and it was still $59.99 anyway there's no such thing as
78:19 sticker price there's always a deal so
78:22 Razer has their new cortex game Deal
78:26 tracker it scours the internet tirelessly to let you know of price drop
78:31 sweet deals and exciting promotions on your favorite game so you'll never miss
78:34 out on another bargain so you can sign
78:38 up for Early Access and check it out it's in beta and currently comparing
78:41 prices exclusively in the US region and other regions will come after launch but
78:46 that is something that you guys are definitely going to want to check out have you have you signed up no I haven't
78:51 really are you going to I have so many things running already
78:55 ready and I like I like steam uh that's
78:59 what I thought about it I thought you know looking at all these features it
79:04 looks like Steam and GeForce experience it has like
79:09 a the game optimizing tool yeah and it like defrags your system which I already
79:15 do it like prioritize prioritizes uh
79:20 things so would you even fire it up to
79:23 see if there was a deal before you bought a game on Steam or would you just blindly buy it on Steam because you find
79:28 the steam experience so much better well like depends on how it works is it going
79:33 to send me to any number of dozen sites
79:37 like I don't want to make a new account for for a site every time a deal comes
79:42 up and it's like on a different site like one reason I buy games off steam is
79:48 that it's on Steam yeah you know there's my steam wallet it's just right there or
79:54 EA origin store Ubisoft store I don't buy anything on
79:57 there uh you know it's like it's right
80:00 there it's convenient whereas Razer doesn't have their store like what how
80:04 are they going to do this I'm really interested to try it out I'm going to
80:08 install it I'm going to try it out and then I'll I'll see how it goes from there maybe it'll be a disaster but I
80:13 mean Razer has shown that they're pretty serious about building software that
80:17 makes gaming better I mean comms is a
80:21 great example of that they saw a gap and they're like okay we're going to build
80:25 something that legitimately addresses the need that people have so I'm
80:29 interested to check this out funny that you should mention comms Dolby axen uh
80:34 wasn't working like several times last week uh the crew and I use Dolby axen
80:40 yep so we actually used the Razer comms it's I think it has more features than I
80:46 remember and it's kind of nice now yeah
80:49 got to say yep they've improved a lot it's not bad um okay we've got a couple
80:54 more more topics Before We Say Goodbye because it's quarter after 6 already
80:57 here uh Microsoft claims they are starting to crack down on fake apps in
81:01 the Windows store this was originally posted by Sherman taker on the Forum and
81:06 the article's from The Verge and basically Microsoft says they reached
81:10 out to devs and told them that they have
81:13 to make their Dev their their apps compliant with their new guidelines
81:18 which or that it can't have an icon that's too close to something that is
81:22 not representative of what it is um I think there were a couple of other
81:27 things but basically there have been
81:30 devs that are just like swift key for
81:33 example if you go to the swift key you know what not the swift key devs I'm
81:38 going to yeah not the swift key devs but if you search for swift key in the
81:41 Windows store I'm going to try it now I've screenshotted it from before but
81:45 let's let's do a live test of whether a scam app that I
81:50 found um swift key keyboard has eight
81:53 ratings for one star that is a $4 app
81:57 the award-winning app for Android that replaces your onscreen keyboard giving
82:01 you the fastest and easiest way to type now in Windows phone uh let's have a look at the
82:06 reviews eight ratings where are the reviews here we go scam artist do not
82:11 purchase this this is fake very unhappy fake app for $4 this is fake this app
82:15 does nothing so apparently they've removed
82:20 1500 apps based on how many scam apps I
82:24 found over the last little bit um yeah
82:27 that's probably not enough uh developers who refuse to comply with Microsoft's
82:32 new guidelines are getting them removed but I think they've still got a lot more
82:36 work to do but they're taking steps forward so that's good they're
82:41 acknowledging the problem that's all I'm giving them credit for at this point
82:45 well they they're also dealing with it sort of I mean the one that the one I
82:51 tested is still there so we'll see um
82:56 originally posted by deliv on the Forum the original article here that he's
83:00 referring to is from Hardware 360 and allegedly Microsoft will offer the
83:06 Windows 9 upgrade either free or for
83:10 $20 so Microsoft will also have an
83:13 awesome offer for Windows XP users to be clear that price is for Windows 8.1
83:19 users another tidbit is that the Enterprise Windows 9 is rumored to be
83:24 completely metr free so Metro is the
83:28 modern UI you know this one yay I can
83:32 scroll back and forth except I don't want to do that okay um so cheap Windows
83:38 upgrade offers aren't unprecedented they have done this kind of thing before the
83:42 Windows store not the Windows phone store maybe uh I believe they are
83:47 actually integrating them uh moving
83:50 forward so I'm not sure I think there's some stuff that's in both or whatever
83:54 the case may be either way they have to address both of them they need to acknowledge the problem everywhere uh
83:59 you guys should put sponsors below the stream actually that's not a bad idea we
84:04 probably should do that at some point all right well I think that pretty much
84:08 wraps it up for the show today although I have one more straw poll for you guys
84:12 before we go I'm just going to create it
84:16 I'm going to put poor edel on the spot what did you think of
84:21 edel's guest co-host
84:25 spot all right let's come up with some options here I think it got better towards the end 10 out of 10 amazing
84:31 would uh would love to have him again okay
84:37 let's go with five out of 10 uh got better towards the
84:43 end and one out of 10 very why you doing it out of 10 if
84:49 there's if there are only three options and zero out of 10
84:55 L okay well so basically basically I'm
84:58 setting you up for I'm setting you up for failure here and I'm also saving you
85:03 from potentially their devastating negative feedback because you know
85:06 they're going to go with zero out of 10 just for the lws I've gotten used to
85:10 negative feedback yeah we all
85:16 have do you really just Spam it like that yeah that way everyone sees it
85:21 edzel is too autistic Ed is too autistic wow wow speaking of getting used to all
85:26 the negative feedback autism actually isn't a thing anymore apparently it's
85:30 been just brought back into the uh oh no
85:33 I'm thinking Asbergers you're thinking asers yeah as autism is definitely a
85:37 thing yeah that's definitely a thing I think Asbergers has been brought back
85:40 under the autism umbrella yeah lus
85:43 screen share 10 out of 10 amazing would love to have him again has half of the
85:48 votes with 21% of the votes being five out of 10 got better towards the end oh
85:54 there's a fair bit of zero out of 10
85:58 LW and 9% say one out of 10 very
86:01 unfortunate that Luke isn't here so it actually looks like the reaction to uh
86:06 to your co-hosting job today has been pretty darn positive so good job uh
86:12 thank you everyone for tuning to the W show huge thanks to our sponsors 54 Club

86:44 week I need a laptop yeah you really
86:48 need a laptop that that hurt you big time being able to see the topics and
86:53 like you could say like yeah I just forget how good
86:58 that looks I know I love this thing I did a good job with that oh should we uh
87:03 should we show them the uh the vinyl stickers oh yeah okay okay very short
87:09 very short after party here we're going to we're going to go get are you going
87:13 to grab them yeah okay I'll grab these ones if you want to grab at least one
87:16 from the other
87:21 room so we got these awesome
87:24 ah don't break please we got these awesome vinyl stickers for the walls
87:30 here uh this has a paper covering over the top of it so that's why it looks so
87:34 faded but it's like um I don't even
87:37 remember what color it is is this a is this white an orange are you sure I
87:43 think so no it's like a gray it's like an off-white oh it is white no it's
87:46 white it's white so it's a white and orange Linus Tech tips that we have for
87:51 one of the walls and then uh also did up
87:56 yeah baby when stealth
87:59 logo so we're going to put that on one of the walls in the office and finally
88:05 yeah bro fist can they see it yep
88:12 sweet there you go
88:15 um I actually have uh we've put up one
88:18 actually here do you want to take roist and W stealth away before they get
88:21 damaged it's not faded it just has like a sheet of paper yeah there's a paper
88:26 covering over it to keep the multiple pieces in place here I'm uh I got them
88:30 together there we go um actually I have uh an example of what they're going to
88:34 look like on the wall so check this out you guys it's freaking
88:39 awesome I think so anyway so this is a
88:42 sneak preview of what the whole room water cooling setup looks like so
88:49 far if my uh if my stupid
88:54 Dropbox would automatically upload okay
88:57 or we could just go to edel's Twitter uh or we could go to edel's
89:01 Twitter do you have a shot of the deal and the uh and the piping and the
89:05 systems in from just now I have like a bunch of features uh okay you try to do
89:10 that while I try to do this and whoever does it first is a
89:16 winner
89:19 okay um so I'm like mailing to myself
89:25 because Apple's I took the picture on my iPhone Apple's thing is like ah boom
89:30 super Broken Oh this is your Panorama oh okay
89:35 yeah that should be good okay oh you
89:38 broke it actually I might like my shot
89:41 better no I'm opening my picture okay I'll show this one first okay so there
89:47 we go uh do you want to just get rid of
89:51 us okay so that's a panorama shot of the office
89:54 um basically you can see this is edel's workstation Brandon's workstation here's
90:00 the copper piping coming down for each of the systems this one's going to be
90:04 for um the potential new employee who I'm going to hear back from this weekend
90:09 this is for taran's workstation this is an extra this is for my workstation and
90:13 here are the vinyl decal on the wall and then here I'm just going to switch back
90:18 to this so that I can go into my email
90:21 without oh I just heard from Chris from NC NC challenges lonus Tech tips to
90:27 Mario Kart they watching I guess we should have known that was
90:31 coming can I be on their team
90:35 no what do you think this is you're going to abandon us in our hour of need
90:40 they're better
90:43 wow wow it's not it this is about family
90:48 this is not well okay if we want to talk about family I do game with them pretty
90:54 much every night uhhuh with uh voice chant all
90:59 versus just working over
91:02 here yeah so someone says I should fire
91:05 edel actually no one said that that was just what I was
91:11 thinking oh I can't even believe you anyway so this is uh this is a not
91:15 panorama shot which I personally find a little bit easier to digest cuz I'm old
91:19 of uh this is teran's water cooled
91:23 system right here oh you took that like recently this is the extra uh here's my
91:28 machine over in the corner running off of this one and then we've got bro fist
91:32 and when stealth sort of centered look
91:35 at much extra space whatever uh sort of centered on the wall in there so yeah
91:41 love it those pipes look sketchy what
91:44 looks sketchy about them oh maybe that's stuff oh that's just a that's a label
91:49 yeah it's no big deal these are copper pipes that were soldered by Luke's dads
91:53 so need to be painted needs to be
91:57 painted I don't want to paint them I like the copper Co yeah we have um like
92:02 can we polish it somehow yes okay uh Luke's dad gave us this um this stuff
92:07 that we can use to polish it quite quickly and then we're planning to paint
92:12 uh a varnish layer over the top so that they really shine I'm uh I'm super
92:16 stoked going to look awesome all right guys thanks for watching peace out see
92:20 you next week
