0:02 you are now live streaming to Twitch Linus Tech click here to open a browser

0:12 Twitch they must have that there just for us yep cuz we do that like almost
0:18 every time welcome to the show everyone welcome to the show everyone we have
0:22 super cool We have a super cool topic i got it wrong
0:27 i was like I thought you were copying me but then you did it slightly different i
0:31 can't even screw that correctly and that's the kind of show this is folks
0:35 guys we got a lot of great topics for you the Fury X is sold out everywhere
0:41 why would that be i guess we'll find out won't we actually we're just going to be
0:44 speculating unless I have some insight i was actually I was gonna ping you for
0:49 that insight i have the insight okay anyways Batman Arkham Knight PC sales
0:54 have been suspended cuz because they
0:57 sprayed silly string at one of the teachers daughters yeah also Disney
1:03 Disney band selfie sticks probably also because of silly string yeah silly
1:07 string is for chumps and then I like silly string too but Xbox wants to give
1:12 silly stringers a chance or just people or people or people or ducks gamers or I
1:18 painted something last night your car no no i No i painted I painted a painting
1:24 oh I saw that that was actually pretty good yeah I painted a painting like
1:27 legitimately i I would troll you but it's it's actually pretty good that was
1:30 my painting it was It was literally
1:34 paint by numbers oh well sort of like
1:37 you free for you you did have to free form it but like there's instructions
1:41 it's like step by step it's like It's like I made this delicious roast duck
1:45 except that there's someone making roast duck right next to you so did they paint
1:49 the exact same painting but like but like So you you couldn't trace though no
1:54 you still had some skill then so I had So I had a hand in it but yeah it's not
1:59 like from a my Yeah but if it was your
2:03 That's like watching a recipe on YouTube and then recreating the recipe
2:09 except that in this case the person who is making the video you know the YouTube
2:14 video actually goes and obtains you like
2:18 the food that you need and the pot that you need and like the fresh water that
2:23 you need to clean your brush and a chair to sit in and a bunch of other people in
2:28 the room also making a duck i still think it's cool well thank you it
2:32 doesn't look as good in person oh I think that's kind of a thing with that
2:36 kind of stuff uh I guess we should roll the intro
2:40 yeah no okay one of these days we're going to
2:45 get this right it worked last week for the intro but not the outro did it i
2:50 thought I figured out what the problem was well that's cuz it tricks you it's
2:53 It's a It's a trust experiment it It pulls you in and then it throws you down
2:59 it's terrible okay well hold on a second i'm sure there's It's in the assets
3:03 folder right it's like chocolates you eat a whole bunch of them and your
3:08 body's like "Yeah this tastes good these are good for me." Oh man yesterday was
3:12 disgusting but you can't Can you say why
3:15 here we go
3:20 yay awesome people
3:35 Oh great oh sorry sorry squarespace it's
3:38 I fix it i fix it squarespace i fix it
3:43 all right guys so it's time to get this show on the road what were we starting
3:48 what were we talking our first one is nine R9 Fury X selling out everywhere
3:52 and you already spoiled i was going to ask you the question to bring you into
3:55 the thing but All right so first let's get the link to the forum up in there do
3:59 you have it do you have it okay i'm gonna bring up WCCF Tech everybody's
4:03 favorite new site for graphics cards sold
4:08 out now here's the thing sold out can
4:12 mean a lot of different things it can mean that there wasn't enough it can
4:16 mean that the demand was incredibly high
4:20 it can mean that you took a bunch of money and abandoned your values and
4:24 morals for the money sold out can mean a
4:27 lot of different things but what sold out means in this case I believe and the
4:33 the the the under headline here this is
4:36 interesting fury X selling like hot cakes have you ever even bought a hot
4:42 cake no so they must not sell that well I've never even seen a hot cake for sale
4:46 okay should we straw pull this how many people have bought a hot cake who has bought a hot cake what is a hot cake see
4:52 I don't even know so they're not marketed very well
4:55 okay let's We're straw this should be called the R9 hotcake we are straw
4:59 pulling the crap out of this hot cakes uh yes all the time
5:04 uh never heard of them well turnip maybe
5:09 maybe hot cakes are turnips uh never heard of them and oh let's go somewhere
5:13 in between so we need to hear from you guys about hot cakes well cuz I've heard
5:17 of them but I never purchased them but you don't know what they are exactly
5:21 that's fair which is part of why you like that's like me saying that I've
5:25 I've heard of you know um Clandiston
5:29 Destiny and like but I don't know what that
5:32 would be right exactly it's a pancake
5:36 it's a pancake wow i've had a lot of pancakes really why are they called
5:40 pancake hot hot cakes are pancakes hot cake noun a pancake why don't you just
5:45 call it a pancake well cuz it's hot
5:48 idiot what pancakes no I'm with you
5:53 i'm just trolling the crap out of you right now cuz I'm 100% on the same page
5:57 on the the first link Yahoo answers "What is a hot cake and if they're
6:02 selling so well wait for it why have I never seen one?"
6:06 Okay all right anonymous poster what is your name you don't even have a profile
6:11 picture but I'm totally with you okay so
6:16 31% of you yes all the time with 27% of
6:19 you having never heard of them just like us is this an Americanism maybe oh uh I
6:25 don't know because everyone that I know something went wrong doesn't know who it
6:28 is damn earliest times in hot cakes cooked in bear grease or pork lard were
6:33 popular from earliest times in American in American first made of I'm thinking
6:38 they mean cornmeal the griddle something blah blah blah etc etc so maybe this is
6:43 an American thing but then again pancakes is that an
6:47 American thing i I I I I I feel like everyone that I know from the States
6:50 says pancakes everyone in the chat is saying American thing there's some
6:54 people saying it's an English thing but almost everybody's saying American thing
6:58 okay and and I've got people saying McDonald's calls them hot cakes not up
7:01 here mcdonald's had pancakes that was like 10 years ago or 15 years ago but
7:06 they had them they called them pancakes so I Oh I thought someone was going to
7:10 come in here and correct us and they're not welcome in this room pancakes are
7:13 not American well we've done some some solid research on this show yeah
7:18 obviously um so let's get into the stuff that we actually have any idea what
7:22 we're talking about with here so WCCF text article says uh selling like hot
7:28 cakes and out of stock at all major retailers on day one so I have a little
7:32 bit of special insight i can't let you guys know who my you know special
7:37 informant would happen to be but what I
7:41 heard from someone involved in the
7:45 retailer business is that on launch day
7:48 they had literally zero like not one not
7:52 a single one they could be selling like hot cakes if McDonald's didn't have any
7:56 that day cuz they screwed up their order right well but then they wouldn't have
7:59 screwed up their order and and I heard a rumor that the total inbound shipments
8:05 is somewhere in the neighborhood of um
8:08 you know what I don't want to say too much so let's say uh let's say I don't
8:14 think they're selling that well
8:18 i I suspect that in North
8:21 America in North America I suspect and
8:25 this is just based on things when you don't have them in North America I
8:29 suspect there are less than a thousand would be my guess that's a somewhat
8:34 educated guess basically the Fury X
8:38 doesn't even exist so there you go um I mean here
8:45 here's what I want to know let's straw pull the Let's straw pull this this
8:49 should be just just be straw pole day just straw pull everything straw pole
8:53 straw pole day today fury X the answers
8:56 are and I want Okay a lot of the time we we just we just like we troll you guys
9:00 okay I'm counting on you this time i do
9:04 want real answers this time because wrong thing to say to Twitch chat no no
9:08 no no no no no no no our our viewers they they got our back on this one
9:11 because this is actually pretty important it's for everyone's benefit to
9:15 know what's going on here so theory X
9:18 the answers are I have one
9:22 i know someone who has one
9:26 or other so like you don't have one and
9:30 you don't know anyone who has one so
9:33 we're going to go ahead we're going to create that straw and there no there is
9:37 no you're for real there is no troll turnip response because I want to know
9:42 what's going on are they selling like hot cakes or do they not exist let's go
9:48 ahead and fire these results up here really interesting um Lionus's
9:53 screen so
9:57 we don't count yeah we don't count we have one so reviewers okay guys if
10:02 you've already voted and you sort of uh anyone who didn't pay for it doesn't
10:06 count so if you happen to know like Ryan Smith from a non techch that doesn't
10:10 count he didn't buy it
10:15 so pretty much it looks like um it looks
10:20 like I was barking up the right tree there do you know what to give us some
10:24 context for this I'm going to go ahead i'm going to create a new straw pull
10:28 right now called 980 Ti i was See I was I was
10:36 I knew where you were going with this but I was thinking about saying uh Titan
10:39 X just cuz I know that 980 Ti is going to win this is going to make it a little
10:44 bit harder on that team but if you want like a price point comparison because 98
10:48 has been out longer too so long higher likeliness that someone is going to have
10:53 it okay all right okay no no okay what we need to do then but the Titan X has
10:57 been out even longer no let's revise Let's revise the question then okay so
11:02 980 Ti i got I got
11:07 one in launch week
11:10 i know someone who got one launch week okay
11:15 and other and other okay and again we
11:18 don't count and like reviewers don't count people that got it for free yeah we We want to hear from you guys we want
11:23 to know like what's going on here so Lionus is screen share we've got just
11:27 shy of 95% of you so with a whopping 34
11:32 so a whopping 60 of you either have one
11:36 or know someone who has one and since I suspect there's a little bit of
11:40 dishonesty at least basically out of the Lionus Tech Tips
11:45 audience if nobody has these cards I'm
11:49 I'm I'm straight up kind of calling yeah these actually don't exist so let's go
11:55 ahead and let's post that 980 Ti straw pull now and I want to see the results
12:00 from that from you guys this is going to be really interesting
12:04 so okay so we've got here 15% of you
12:09 saying they had got one in launch week or they know someone who got one in
12:13 launch week so with that said I know
12:16 that 980 Ti was quite supply constrained
12:19 as well in fact continues to be to be supply constrained we actually pitched
12:24 to a major graphics card maker that they send us 10 980 Ti not permanently so
12:30 that we could test um which ones would which ones would turbo boost the most we
12:35 talked about this on WAN Show last week that was your idea well was it my idea
12:39 it was your idea we We were talking about it and you were like "What if we
12:42 got like 10?" And I was like "Okay." Cuz I was talking about like two oh okay
12:47 well it was a group idea the Okay not the point anyway the point is they
12:51 basically went "No we don't have enough to even lend them to you for a week." Um
12:55 and I was like "Well what if you lent them to me and like you give me NCIX's
12:59 allocation and then I hand deliver them to NCIX." So they're going like they're
13:02 going straight to the retailer right we don't have any bro so when you compare
13:08 that to R9 Fury
13:13 X which is a little weird too because
13:16 the balance is off if you look at the two charts um on average the exact same
13:22 amount basically having one and knowing someone who has one for Fury X and then
13:28 almost twice as much which is expected someone knowing someone who has one
13:33 compared to having one for 980 Ti right so that means that the Fury X1 probably
13:38 is just full of trolls who are just picking anything well the 980 Ti one
13:42 probably has a lot of trolls too but that but that split actually makes a lot
13:45 more sense on the 980 Ti one having a lot more people knowing someone who has
13:49 one very very interesting especially with the percentage of people that are
13:53 watching the WAN Show probably having a very high percentage of people that are on the forum meaning that they very
13:58 likely know someone who owned one of those cards so that's very interesting
14:02 um now I have to run for a minute cuz speaking of the Fury X I think I might have left it in my car um so you're on
14:07 your own for the next topic okay well knowing that Lionus leaves his car
14:11 unlocked if someone can get to the outside of the Linus Tech Tips
14:15 headquarters before Lionus can you can get a Fury X for free
14:19 it's not really free it's stealing but you know anyways in other
14:25 news we have more AMD stuff which I'm sure Lionus will want to weigh in on AMD
14:30 says Granada Pro and XT are not rebrands of Hawaii
14:34 and they're a little bit right i was on
14:37 the call with AMD while they were talking about this and they were like
14:41 "No we spent a year working on these things we've improved stuff." Blah blah
14:45 blah blah blah so I will talk about what they've done they've increased memory
14:49 clock um from 1250 MHz to 1500 megahertz
14:54 on both 390 and 390X they've increased memory bandwidth from 320 GB per second
14:59 to 384 GB per second and there's an 8 GB
15:02 frame buffer on all their cars instead of a four uh so there isn't like the OC
15:07 version 8 GB and nonC version 4 GB setup
15:10 um they did a complete rewrite of the GPU's power management micro
15:14 architecture so that in worst case scenarios they're kind of the same in
15:19 terms of power and in typical gaming load the 300 series uh 390 and 390X will
15:25 draw less power than a 290X and perform a little bit better than a 290X
15:30 our new one yeah it was actually it wasn't even in my car it was in the
15:35 trailer behind my car oh my god
15:40 yeah I didn't see it cuz it was under something which is probably why no one
15:43 else saw it oh yeah so this is our new Fury X uh which is really funny cuz I
15:49 was at uh I was at NCX today shooting NCIX tech tips and um they were like
15:55 "You have two we didn't even get one."
15:59 And I was like "No no we only have two cuz our first one was DOA." And they're
16:02 like "Yeah but we didn't even get one." It's like "How did you get how'd you get
16:06 two?" I'm like "Well when we said it was dead they sent us a new one right now." And I think our performance after seeing
16:11 everyone else's reviews I think our performance on the first one might actually be fine it's just artifacting
16:15 all over the place right yeah cool which isn't like we can't report that cuz Yeah
16:20 exactly like we're not going to report those numbers but we we straight up were
16:24 like "Okay it's not performing as well as like you guys are saying it is." Yeah
16:29 and so we thought the reason for that was that it was artifacting we didn't
16:33 think the reason for that was that it just didn't perform as well as uh as
16:37 expected what I'm talking about is uh the rebrand stuff possibly not being as
16:41 rebrand as people might have thought blah blah blah have you read about that at all i have is that one of our news
16:46 topics today cuz if so we should jump right into it that's what we're doing oh that's what we're doing right now yeah
16:50 so my problem with the way that AMD is
16:54 spinning this and spin is really the right word here is that it's all about
17:00 presentation Intel did Haswell
17:04 refresh they did a
17:07 4790K which was basically a 4770K with a
17:10 clock speed bump and changed thermal interface material and a refinement of
17:15 the manufacturing process but they were straight up about it and they didn't
17:19 increase the first indention number exactly they didn't call it 5000 series
17:24 yeah yeah that was my main point this is a 300 series card if it was like the
17:29 29 something although that gets weird cuz they've already used some of those
17:33 numbers and and like here's here's the other issue
17:38 like what's the what's the code name.5 what's the what's the code name for it
17:41 it's um because they changed it from Hawaii to something else like they
17:45 actually gave it a new code name granada Pro yeah Granada so they changed it from
17:49 Hawaii to Granada whereas Intel even
17:52 their internal code name is Haswell
17:55 Refresh cuz that's what it is in fact it
17:58 is it's even it's even sort of unusual
18:02 for for Intel to do something like that and the only reason they did that was
18:06 because they changed the thermal interface material that was that was a
18:10 huge part of the reason for that otherwise they could have just called it 4790K and it would have just been a
18:15 higher speed bin in fact that's the way it used to work in the past if you guys
18:18 remember back to the like the Pennium 4 days you'd get an architecture whether
18:23 it's you know will or Northwood or Northwood B Northwood C like they used
18:28 to revise them like that and then you'd get like okay you know it's a 3.0 GHz
18:33 Northwood C and that would be the flagship and then 3 months down the line
18:36 or 6 months down the line they'd launch the 3.2 GHz Northwood C they would call
18:40 it a different thing you don't you don't have to call it a completely different
18:44 thing it's just like oh yeah it's a speed bump that's what it is and and we can recognize that it's better that's
18:48 fine that's cool i want to bench a 390X versus a 290X to like show what
18:54 potential improvements there could be probably mainly power but whatever um
18:57 and but but like don't call it don't make a layman think that it's a jump i
19:04 think that's the biggest problem because nobody in our audience is going to be
19:09 fooled is going to think that a 390X is a big upgrade over because there's
19:13 threads all over the forum and stuff but people are trying to be like "Oh yeah
19:16 you should get into PC gaming it's really not that hard to build a computer
19:20 all this kind of stuff it's super easy just pick some parts and like if you buy
19:24 within the right part price categories it's probably going to be fine." And
19:27 someone's going to go to the store and buy a 390X and be like "Yeah I'm going to rock all those dudes with a 290X."
19:31 Doesn't want to do a whole bunch of research that's fine you shouldn't have
19:35 to a higher number should be better yeah
19:40 and when it sounds a little and you know what but the thing the thing about all
19:44 of this though is that I don't want to ride AMD too hard about it because it's
19:50 super crappy it's a crappy thing to do there's much worse stuff but NVIDIA's
19:55 done it too it's not like it's not like
19:59 it happens all the time yes especially on the low end then you see the thing
20:04 about NVIDIA is they're kind of like they're savvy enough to not try to pull
20:09 the wool over the eyes of the enthusiast like NVIDIA is going to go "Okay yeah we
20:13 know we're re-releasing the 680 so we're just they're going to call it 770 we're
20:18 going to we're going to knock it down a peg at the very least when we at least
20:22 there's that because this is a 290X and a 390X." But when it comes to the
20:28 general the general consumer oriented
20:32 cards it's not like NVIDIA hasn't done that with I I believe the 300 series
20:37 many of you won't even know there was a 300 series because it was OEM only SKUs
20:42 was a straight rebrand of 200 series low-end cards straight rebrand they
20:47 changed it from a two to a three maybe that's what made AMD think it was okay
20:50 um and it's not for their two to three and I mean it's not like NVIDIA
20:55 hasn't milked a micro architecture before i mean um shoot I can't remember
21:00 what 8800 GT G92 G92 NVIDIA milked the
21:05 crap out of that thing that was the 8800
21:08 GTX or GT didn't they literally like
21:12 sticker pull and resticker cards yeah the 9800 GTX Plus or something became
21:19 the GTS 250 and so the 8800 GT somehow
21:24 turned into a 9800 GTX which turned into a 9800 GTX Plus which I think had more
21:29 RAM or something so that's pretty much what we're looking at here at least they
21:32 called it a plus instead of like a something you know higher number oh wait
21:37 except when they rebranded it GTS 250 so
21:40 let's not pretend that um let's not
21:43 pretend that AMD is the only one doing it it's just crappy no matter who does
21:47 it and AMD has done it most recently so they're the ones that we're going to
21:50 pull down our pants and take a big turd on for doing it this time
21:54 it's not Yeah it's not the worst thing in the world but it's not good and the
21:59 fact that they're sticking to their guns about this is like come on it's not a
22:03 rebrand because it has we worked on it for a year with one person part-time one
22:08 day a week like I shouldn't say that no
22:11 and that's not fair be nice um and like
22:15 like I get it like 290x 8 gig was actually limited in terms of which board
22:20 partners were making them not because AMD doesn't want to sell you a higher
22:24 ASP card but because yields were probably very limited either because
22:28 they were saving cores for this or because they really did have to retool
22:32 things fairly significantly in order to make it all happen and the the power
22:35 stuff is legitimately cool and may have taken a lot of work but there's a lot of
22:38 people speculating and I kind of think they might be right that the memory being faster is just because they put
22:43 better memory on it like nah that's why I said it didn't
22:47 really take any time the power stuff yeah okay could be a lot more difficult
22:51 all right speaking of We might be wrong about the memory stuff that are a lot
22:55 more difficult oh god uh here i'll go
22:58 ahead i'll post this do you want Do you want to Do you want to Do you want to lead us off on this one okay so Arkham
23:04 Gate don't screw with PC Masterate I
23:08 guess um Night Gate pc Master Race got
23:11 real mad and everyone that owns a computer and wanted to play Batman got
23:15 really mad uh because Batman Arkham
23:19 Knight was frame rate capped at 30 FPS did you see the funny photo where it was
23:23 like a speed limit sign in the background that said 30 did you see that
23:27 i didn't see that that was hilarious uh I don't know if we're going to be able
23:31 to find it but I can try maybe someone will post it in the Twitch chat someone
23:34 was like "Did did uh did they warn us?" and it was like a a Batman teaser photo
23:38 and he's coming towards the camera in the background there's a speed limit 30
23:41 sign sorry I just thought it was hilarious um so people were demanding
23:47 refunds like crazy i think a lot of people did get refunds through Steam and
23:50 then Steam actually suspended sales of the game or I don't know if it was
23:54 Warner Brothers or Warner Brothers warner Brothers suspended sales of the game um Steam ratings were sitting
23:59 around 35% positive holy crap that's
24:04 terrible anyways um that hurts
24:08 yeah so that's basically it to be
24:11 completely honest apparently it was able to be unlocked by editing an INI file
24:17 but like but like why
24:22 why like I I get it i like having the
24:26 INI file i had to use an INI file yesterday because I was trying to launch
24:30 Crisis 3 and I had copied over a save game and the last thing I had should be
24:36 there in like uh like last case like
24:39 last resort or or like if you're if you're 80 mods deep in Skyrim and you're
24:44 like I broke something but I can fix it like that's exactly so in this situation
24:49 the last computer I had used it on was the iMac Retina so it was a 5K display
24:55 so like when I opened the game it was like I was seeing like the corner of it
25:00 on a 1080p display so I couldn't actually navigate to the menu to change
25:04 my settings and I was like "Okay this is an unusual situation that pretty much
25:09 nobody would ever find themselves in." Yeah okay i'll I'll break out the INI
25:13 file to to just have to to need the INI
25:18 file in order to unlock the game from 30 FPS is
25:22 just totally unacceptable and the the
25:25 thing that I don't get is how do they
25:28 not learn check your hands how is it possible that
25:34 they cannot learn oh yeah here it is
25:37 this is awesome this is from uh the PC master race subreddit um have you So
25:42 you've seen this yeah in the background there's a 30 FPS like not 30 FPS but
25:47 it's a speed limit 30 30 m hour I guess speed limit FPS lock warning i love the
25:51 MS paint skills here yeah yeah is that what that is
25:55 the fact that they can look at
25:59 Assassin's Creed Unity and look at
26:02 Watchd Dogs and look at these titles where developers are being crucified for
26:08 these completely unnecessary limitations
26:13 if it works above 30 FPS why isn't that
26:17 the default and I mean I guess saying it works is is sort of generous because um
26:24 I mean Warner Brothers came out and said that AMD owners would experience
26:28 performance issues which really I mean
26:31 the the most frustrating thing about this is that whether NVIDIA is being
26:37 completely upfront or not whether they are or not like if NVIDIA is to be
26:42 believed GameWorks doesn't hurt anyone else's performance it's just extra eye
26:48 candy that happens to run great on NVIDIA because they designed it and
26:52 basically handed it to the game developer to put inside the game so for
26:56 a developer to come out and just say uh
26:59 yeah it um just like is it is going to work kind of crap on uh on AMD cards by
27:05 the way this is a Game Works title i mean I would love to know you know
27:10 what's going on in NVIDIA's sort of minds when they're sitting there going
27:14 "Okay so we're going to be getting a bunch of bad PR over something that in
27:19 theory is just the developer and AMD not
27:24 getting their crap sorted out." Yeah just because we have Game Works in
27:27 theory and you know what i haven't and I
27:31 will probably never have get a full
27:34 understanding of what exactly goes on behind the scenes with GameWorks but
27:37 what I do know and this was a really good point from Tom Peterson about uh
27:42 what was it uh Witcher 3 I think where when it came out Yeah yeah witcher 3
27:47 came out and AMD performance wasn't very good and a lot of it was getting blamed
27:51 on GameWorks and then AMD had a fixed driver and I think it was one or two
27:55 weeks and so Tom Peterson kind of went well hold on a second so they managed to
28:00 fix it in like two weeks so where was that development effort two weeks before
28:04 the launch it seems to me there's no problem here um and I kind of went yeah
28:08 if they can fix this in like two weeks what's the problem here exactly there's
28:12 there's questions as to and like whether it was fully released to them and stuff
28:16 yep so there's questions about that two days before the launch or if they've
28:20 actually been working on it for a month and they had two weeks before and two
28:24 weeks after whatever but AMD also does a lot of crying about how Game Works is a
28:29 black box and impossible to optimize for when it turns out that two weeks after a
28:33 launch they they can optimize for it just fine um that's true so so anyway so
28:40 Warner Brothers already came out and said "Yep well AMD users peace bro." And
28:44 then performance is
28:47 um uh having some issues on NVIDIA GPUs
28:51 as well so um there you go steam ratings
28:55 were sitting at 35% positive like you said and Warner Brothers Games
28:59 apparently listened this is kind of funny uh some of the textures um uh some
29:04 effects like ambient occlusion and rain that the NVIDIA GameWorks video showed
29:08 off are actually completely missing on the PC but present on the PlayStation 4
29:14 i noticed that too well I didn't notice it pc mastery subreddit told me
29:19 those guys they're like the they're like the guardians of Have you seen the
29:23 rating system this should have been in this topic they're they're making a like
29:26 PC master I'll try to find it the TC Master Race like official rating system
29:30 and they have a chart um so like if if
29:34 your game only runs at 1080p you can't get above a certain rating if your game
29:39 doesn't have mods I think you can't get the glorious rating um but you can get
29:43 like righteous if you have a whole bunch of stuff but like not technically
29:47 everything and like there's this whole crazy It's cool um all right well in the
29:52 meantime I'll do a really quick topic here so we we talked about this last
29:56 week and the I was just going to say I could be wrong but I think it was
30:00 actually Corsair George that made that rating system oh really really it was
30:05 like his username's like Ballistic George or something and it has a Corsair
30:09 tag beside the username so
30:12 okay well in the meantime here I'll do the uh I'll do the Fallout um the
30:16 Fallout pre-order here we go what sorry
30:20 magnetic okay i don't I don't know uh anyway in the meantime let me do this so
30:24 we talked about the guy who sent oh crap what was it 11.2 pounds of bottle caps
30:31 to Bethesda um to get a copy of Fallout
30:34 4 which actually ended up costing in shipping about half as much as just a
30:38 pre-order the game would have cost um and it turns out that they were very
30:43 careful about the wording because I guarantee you Bethesda
30:48 does straight up not want you know
30:51 10,000 people shipping them 10 pounds of bottle caps like every person that works
30:55 at a bottling place would be able to get so many so fast um so they they very
31:00 carefully said so he sent 2,240 caps
31:05 because he was the first person to do this he would be receiving a copy of the
31:10 game in November so it was Corsair
31:13 George was it yeah this is Ballistic George official Corsair Ballistic George
31:18 tag and this is the one I was looking for i had no idea it was him i think Oh
31:22 send me the link send me the link okay so let's move on take a sec cuz my laptop is slow as hell but yeah let's
31:27 move on to the the Corsair the Corsair George rating system oh my goodness oh
31:33 apparently it's a George from Corsair
31:36 not the George from Corsair it's Ballistic George so it's not our George
31:41 Mis it is a different George see they
31:44 have the same problem as us they do where we have many Nicks we call ours
31:49 different things well they call them Ballistic George so that's like a But
31:54 then they call the other one just George right so we have Nick and then we have
31:57 Burkelnick
32:01 but we just call him Burkel ballistic Burkel
32:04 just start calling him Ballistic Nick we're just BB for short hey B uh okay so
32:10 let's go ahead and pull this up so PC
32:13 PCMRG so peasantry this port fails to
32:17 deliver a quality that is even comparable to consoles frame rate may be
32:20 capped at 30 FPS may not support 1080p or higher optimized poorly mod support
32:25 none uh mods may result in online bans
32:29 servers possibly weak unreliable servers and possible day one DLC with uh
32:35 glitches uh so it goes all the way up to
32:38 righteous this port exceeds the standard set by its console counterparts but does
32:42 not reach the full glory and potential of PC gaming um so 60 FPS capped
32:47 potentially limitless 1080p may include multimonitor support and then glorious
32:51 basically means this is as far as it goes there's no limit to frame rate 4K
32:55 or beyond resolution gloriously optimized complete support for mods
32:59 strong servers with dedicated or custom servers available uh no day one DLC or
33:04 DLC is free so yeah with nearly no
33:09 glitches with nearly no glitches so all the people that rated Skyrim is glorious
33:14 or wrong there's so many glitches in that game
33:20 there is so many did you just Did you just speak out against The Elder Scrolls
33:23 i don't think I've ever No whoa whoa whoa whoa no actually did you just say
33:27 no actually did you just say no hold on you have to ask Elder Scrolls Online
33:34 did you just speak out against Elder Scrolls single player
33:38 well your favorite games of all time i don't necessarily mind the glitches but
33:41 there are glitches i don't necessarily mind that spoken like a true fanboy the
33:47 glitches give it character there's certain games where glitchy crap is fun
33:52 like I was playing Super Mario Bros the other day i was playing Super Mario Bros
33:56 the other day and I used my cape and it completely glitched out and I just
33:59 laughed and keep playing some of them are okay if they're
34:04 like funny if your game um crashes to
34:07 desktop like Skyrim does a lot it's not actually funny and it's really dumb or
34:12 if your mouse clicks through the screen like a lot of Bethesda games do that's
34:15 not funny i'm going to let him keep going as long as uh he's there's where
34:20 the giant will hit you and you'll just go like infinitely upwards um you can
34:25 fall through the floor your your horse can just like fly at certain times or go
34:29 completely vertical ups um I'm going to run out here actually but I'm sure
34:34 there's more i'm sure the Twitch chat can tell me more i just find it funny
34:38 that there's an official PC Master Race rating system that takes one of the PC
34:41 Master Rac's favorite games and doesn't put it at the highest tier
34:47 that being said due to the full mod support you can fix a lot of those
34:52 glitches so that's where the glory comes but does
34:55 it count cuz there's full mod oh my god you're coming full i knew if I let you
34:59 talk about this long enough you were going to come full circle i don't know
35:03 but does it I'm I'm asking you guys should we straw pull this should we
35:06 straw pull this okay does the ability to fix a glitch through a mod rectify the
35:12 problem fixing glitches through
35:16 makes it okay what is that look at this ad on straw
35:22 pole it just popped up while I was creating my straw pole wow you know
35:28 what's funny is we actually have a fastest possible episode coming on ad
35:32 block very soon did I tell you that no
35:38 uh that's joke in the fire i uh I guess everyone watching already knows what it
35:42 is anyways yes and no well I I mean the thing about Fastest Possible is it's
35:46 very search optimized like if you search
35:49 that's a good point for a topic that there's a fastest possible episode for I
35:53 guarantee you it's going to be right up there in the search results and it's designed for that that's what that whole
35:58 channel is is like quick searchable stuff we want someone who's like in a
36:02 store just trying to figure something out really quickly to be able to actually figure it out really quickly
36:06 yeah but like what is this OLED thing
36:10 yeah why is this random BB box store employee telling me this is better and
36:14 just keeps on saying but it's better or not actually has more technology because
36:18 it has more technology so there's the straw pull fixing glitches through mods
36:23 makes it okay or doesn't make it okay
36:26 and and remember this is a very much a a glory of the PC master race thing okay
36:31 yeah cuz I'm I'm honestly just wondering how Skyrim actually fits in their taring
36:35 system because it's just it's weird so we've got 46% of you saying it doesn't
36:40 make it okay with 33% of you saying it
36:44 makes it okay and 21% of you on the
36:48 turnip bandwagon we should do a turnip shirt i'd wear that like I would
36:52 definitely wear that vote for turnip and then it should just have like a turnip
36:56 in a box should look like the vote for Pedro shirt
37:00 we should do a turnip shirt i should do a straw pull for that
37:05 there you go the most straw pulls
37:09 should we do a vote for turnip now this is a really this is an important straw
37:14 poll someone in Twitch chat was like "Ignore the actual question vote for
37:18 turnip." Yes oh awesome all right here we go here
37:23 we go here we go should we do a vote for
37:27 turnip shirt i mean I don't even I don't even know did you put tournament
37:33 yeah i I was wondering about that i was
37:36 like "This has to have the turnup." So troll bro i'm voting for turnip i'm
37:42 going to vote for Turnup too darn it
37:46 yes so we've got a a a whopping 5% of
37:50 you that say there should not be a vote for Turnip shirt who also are not voting
37:55 for Turnip so flashing gang signs yo
37:59 don't pull a neck so this guy okay here let's do let's do a quick uh let's do a
38:03 quick got a quick promo spot come on okay Burkel's going to Burkel's going to
38:07 join us for for a minute here is that box wet uh
38:12 Whoa what
38:19 do we have a leak the hell
38:26 ew feel like I should have just said nothing
38:32 i don't know if I can get on this couch with you guys ew what's back here oh
38:37 just mold glad we're moving okay so um upcoming
38:43 Channel Super Fun for those of you who are not subscribed to Channel Super Fun
38:47 what did we do today oh we went golfing i thought you were
38:52 I'm editing the other I'm editing the other one which I'm thinking about right
38:55 now oh yeah i said "Yeah what I'm doing
38:59 today is editing the other one prior to that one." So you guys I'm giving you
39:03 guys an assignment we have two Channel Super Fun videos coming up that are
39:07 going to be redonkulous if you know anyone who you
39:11 think would enjoy Channel Super Fun and if you're not subscribed already get
39:15 over there get subscribed cuz what okay so the one we did this morning uh we
39:20 played we played golf we played pitch and putt so uh okay but we used
39:25 equipment that we got at the dollar store and that's all I need to say about
39:29 that i can't believe we made it through and for the one from yesterday um do you
39:33 want to do you want to Yeah I think you should I think you should spoil it oh uh
39:38 well the whole explanation yeah yeah well no not the whole explanation but
39:42 just the All I can say is what I'm editing today is just basically
39:46 disgusting footage slow-mo footage of Lionus and Nick eating Jell-O till their
39:51 stomachs are at capacity and it's just it's painful to watch like I'm having a
39:56 hard time getting through it cuz I want to throw up now and I'm probably never
39:59 going to eat Jell-O again so if you guys liked Jell-O maybe never watch it just
40:04 forget it ever happened great sales pitch send it to your friends though
40:08 yeah yeah cuz I mean Jello is not that great for you anyway so you know if
40:13 you're trying to help someone get over their jello
40:17 addiction we have a jello addiction therapy video coming for you guys
40:21 hotline we'll give you No that might not work watching people eat copious amounts
40:25 of Jell-O is probably not going to help like that's like saying "Yeah if you
40:28 have someone who's addicted to alcohol we'll send you a video of people
40:32 drinking insane amounts of alcohol." What if it was a video well okay hold on
40:36 a second cuz some anti cuz some like
40:39 anti-smoking or anti-drug or Yeah yeah
40:42 like it'll like it'll show like like the it'll show like the the footage from
40:46 above the spinning blades of the fan and there's like the baby in the crib and
40:50 there's like all this smoke in the air it's just like that's what our jello
40:53 video is jello aholic if you eat jello
40:57 you could be like this guy you could have a jello overdose and that would be
41:02 good jel overdose i think that's my signal to leave
41:07 bye what are you doing right now oh my god
41:12 that was fantastic all
41:17 right what's our next topic what topic are we talking about no what have we
41:21 even done any topics we were talking about Batman okay uh so let's talk
41:25 Taylor Swift for a minute here so uh this was posted by It's Me Fuan on the
41:31 forum our original here uh I just want to shake it off want to shake it off
41:35 yeah you're really far over i know but like this corner is like this pillow's
41:40 wet oh that's your pillow though that's
41:43 your No I know but it was wet before I got in here oh that's
41:48 gross all right so Taylor Swift calls Apple Music free trial shocking
41:54 disappointing in open letter and I'm
41:57 going to say right now we've we've we've sort of said that we don't think Taylor
42:02 Swift has sort of um uh we don't think
42:06 she has a firm understanding of what exactly it is that's going on we've said
42:10 that before um happening when uh I think
42:14 she and some other people were speaking out about it she also said some other
42:18 really stupid thing i can't remember what it was i don't really pay attention to that stuff so Oh right yeah she
42:22 pulled all her music from Spotify or whatever because music shouldn't be ad
42:26 supported or something like that and anyway uh the point is this time I think
42:29 she's 100% right and there's one reason for this that a lot of the people who
42:33 are just kind of hating on Swift uh for
42:36 all of this are missing and that was that Apple was offering a threemon music
42:42 thank you for I just wanted to defend her somehow why
42:46 do you even She get she just gets hammered i got to I got to support the
42:50 other side okay so I'm saying she was right she had she has exceptional
42:54 musical talent
42:57 do you even listen to Taylor Swift she's a good person do you even listen to Taylor Swift no but people do right so
43:03 why would you even I was listening to the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 soundtrack
43:07 today i'm not a musical
43:15 authority it was awesome it was so cool
43:20 so the part that people are missing in Taylor's letter whether it's sincere or
43:25 not that she says it's not about me you know I can make it back in concert
43:29 tickets or whatever else it's about the little artists that maybe can't afford
43:33 to go three months giving away their music for free is the fact that Apple a
43:36 company with literally tens of billions
43:40 of dollars in the bank was simply giving
43:43 away the music to people for free during the trial and literally not paying the
43:49 artists for the plays yeah they were just giving it away and I guess hey we
43:53 just won't pay you they won't pay everything's good right yeah it's great
43:57 so what was it like a day after Swift's letter apple promptly went "Oh yep okay
44:03 looks like we weren't going to get away with that in in much more eloquent words
44:07 and uh went ahead and pulled it i think
44:10 that's great i think that calling out Apple on stuff like this uh makes a ton
44:15 of sense with that said I really I don't
44:19 some of some uh Brandon travels in some
44:22 She's not wrong at all she's 100% right but Brandon travels in some more
44:27 photography circles in terms of where he gets his news from and there are some
44:31 folks pointing out that um well uh you know there's you know
44:36 Taylor's not exactly always the most progressive either apparently
44:40 photographers who pay for the rights to photograph at her concerts uh each image
44:46 can only be used for editorial purposes once so they can't actually remonetize a
44:52 single image and not only that but they are not allowed to use the images in
44:56 their own portfolios um which to me is just kind of like if
45:02 you're going to be all about sort of you know digital digital rights and creator
45:06 rights I mean you should probably have a bit more of a progressive um policy for
45:12 the people who are working for essentially promoting you come on let's
45:15 be honest about all this um so yeah that's and oh that's in
45:20 so yeah so an industry photographer
45:23 released an open letter to Swift outlining this so they're forced to sign off the rights to their photos in
45:27 perpetuity to artists while only maintaining the ability to publish them
45:30 and be paid for them once uh stuff like this does exist in many industries it's
45:36 just interesting to see you know these
45:39 open letters yeah flying around back and forth a very different scenario it is a
45:45 different scenario extremely different scenario but if you paid for the rights
45:48 to be there and it's not cheap if you
45:51 paid for the rights to be there and photograph it should you I mean the portfolio on this kind of blows me away
45:56 the way that I and like I agree with the photographer people but I'm trying to
45:59 make an interesting conversation um the way that she is protesting this is by
46:05 taking her music away so if you want to protest that don't go take the
46:10 photos that's a potential argument i agree with the photo guys i'm just
46:14 saying that yep but like you you could try to protest this by just having none
46:19 of your dudes go to take photos but the thing is other people are going to do
46:22 that because it's Taylor Swift so Yep
46:26 i don't know oh well all right so what
46:29 do we got next ah Disney theme parks Ben
46:33 selfie stick the original poster was good bites and the original article here
46:37 is from the verge you got this uh you got this link here all right let's go
46:41 ahead and uh whip this link up selfie
46:44 sticks are no longer welcome at Disney theme parks says The Verge's headline
46:48 after doing its best to accommodate selfie sticks Disney bans them so I
46:55 think the first question here is why hasn't everyone banned selfie sticks
46:59 everyone everyone ever municipalities government countries why haven't
47:04 countries banned selfie sticks they're obviously hazardous um so I got one uh
47:10 for free i didn't buy it i got one for free someone gave it to me i got one too
47:14 i tried to plug it into my phone to use it and it just changes the volume or it
47:19 zooms i'm like
47:22 could work what so yeah that didn't get much use
47:26 you know what's really funny i have used my selfie stick but you're talking
47:31 against what i have used my selfie stick however how much I I what I used it for
47:37 was GoPro footage okay that kind of makes sense but is GoPro footage of
47:42 yourself still a selfie if it's on a GoPro well is a video It was for a video
47:48 I was making is a video a selfie
47:54 it's drop day right
47:58 i think for a video to be selfie it would have to be one of those ones where like someone's pivoting with it which
48:03 you could do with the selfie stick and then your face stays like in the same
48:07 part of the frame all the time you know those kind of shots so then it could be a video selfie i think so i don't know
48:14 okay well you know what just Google selfie the Twitch chat is going to
48:17 resolve the crap out of this for us the Twitch chat knows more than Okay you
48:21 guys are just all voting for turnip turnip
48:26 oh for crying out loud we can't get We're not going to get a straight answer out of you guys for the rest of the show
48:31 are we no no no turnup is a straight answer turnip is a straight answer so
48:35 we've got only 16% of you saying yes a
48:39 video is still a selfie so I guess while
48:43 I have used my selfie stick I haven't
48:46 technically according to 85% of our audience used it to take a selfie you
48:50 count the turnup ones as No yeah yeah that's how I'm counting them turnup's a
48:55 wild card man you can just decide what turnum turnup counts as uh yes turnip so
49:01 visitors who carry one they'll be enforcing this at the gate will have two
49:04 choices leave it at the entrance and pick it up on your way out or don't
49:08 bring it to begin with those aren't choices um they have one choice it goes
49:13 into effect at both Disney World and Disney Land on Tuesday and expands to
49:17 Hong Kong and Paris on July the 1st so
49:21 they're spreading the word through announcements at their hotels and audio messages in the parking lots they
49:26 initially tried to accommodate them by forbidding them on rides but allowing
49:30 them elsewhere on park grounds but people snuck them in people continued to
49:34 take them on rides which is like a whole other level of stupid it's like you have
49:40 a selfie stick that's dumb you use your
49:43 selfie stick to take selfies of yourself that's like super lame you endanger the
49:50 lives of other people with your stupid selfie
49:54 stick now you need like you need to sit
49:58 down and and you're potentially ruining some kid's day you need to sit down and
50:03 get a stern talking to um so yeah this week a roller coaster at
50:08 Disneyland was put out a commission for an hour because a guest uh because of a
50:12 guest using a selfie stick at the ride's highest point so uh yeah so some museums
50:19 and the Canis Film Festival have already banned the accessory
50:23 progressive Disney and honestly like they're kind of annoying i went hiking
50:28 not that long ago in Taiwan and people just in Taiwan
50:33 i know but and I get it but people who didn't have a selfie stick yeah I know
50:38 but people take up so much more space when they're doing it and you're like you're trying to be courteous and all
50:41 this kind of stuff and when you see like the family that pulls someone aside and tries to get the photo taken like sure
50:46 but when it's someone like every 5t like with a freaking selfie stick like god
50:50 you're taking up so much space the trail's really really small already like
50:56 a Yeah a lot of the trail is literally too short for me like there's only if I
51:01 stuck my arms out it's going to be over the cliff like and then they're taking selfies you can't walk past them
51:06 ridiculous apparently Coke's giving them away in the
51:10 UK oh that's a shame all right so let's
51:13 uh Oh we should do sponsors right so our sponsors today I appreciate it
51:18 squarespace squarespace you know what's really weird what i did a Squarespace
51:24 spot today on NCX tech tips
51:30 that is weird yeah they have Squarespace as a sponsor and I was hosting the video
51:33 and I was like "This is weird." So visit squarespace.com and use offer code not
51:39 Lionus use some other offer code which first time huh that's weird no no no no
51:44 but I'm on W show now so today use offer code Linus to save 10% if you want to
51:49 build yourself a beautiful functional website for your blog your store your Oh
51:54 we have something really we're doing something really exciting with Squarespace for um upcoming show my mom
52:01 made a website on Squarespace and it actually looks pretty okay can I look at
52:04 it yeah we can show it okay did you help
52:08 her no I'm going to but I I have not yet
52:12 is it on their Twitter give me a
52:15 sec please have a link to your website why is it so zoomed in what's going on
52:20 oh my god my laptop sucks it's this though look for that um okay okay I got
52:26 this okay um this but no spaces come on
52:31 mom
52:38 there okay so there we go squarespace
52:42 site for Cali Begs have I been duped
52:46 into promoting your mom's thing boom
52:49 wrecked did I just get played that
52:55 hard i didn't actually go about it in that intention
53:02 wow all right so
53:06 basically there's an about page you can
53:10 like look at some stuff on here so she did all of this so she did all of this
53:14 herself okay so let me I didn't help her at all she She was having trouble with
53:18 another hosting service that I'm not going to bring up oh that's Oh so that's
53:21 a dead link uh I'll have to help her with that okay so she does need some
53:26 help oh dear what's going
53:29 on that's not
53:32 good it's cool Mom we'll figure it out
53:36 it just Whoa that just happened
53:40 what i think the everybody went to and
53:43 it brought it down but maybe she's not on Squarespace is she not on it yet she
53:48 told me she I thought she was way to go Luke well that's why the website went
53:53 down there you know what's really funny actually okay well I don't know how I
53:57 don't know how Squarespace is going to feel about us basically showing up one
54:01 of their competitors on a sponsor spot cuz like I seriously thought she was
54:05 already cuz she told me she was going to go they're a lot more professional than
54:08 like calling out a competitor for like straight up getting taken down when
54:13 people go to the site but let's just let's just talk about the benefits of
54:18 There's another Squarespace website linusmediagroup.com yeah you know what
54:21 let's just talk about the benefits of Squarespace and leave it at that so
54:25 what's great about Squarespace is they have scalable hosting and what happens
54:29 is and we've experienced this many times in the past when a bunch of people flood
54:34 to the beautifully created website that's also very functional at the same
54:38 time Squarespace is able to handle that load without any difficulty so you're
54:44 going to want to uh So they've got a bunch of great templates you can choose from i really don't know how I'm going
54:48 to blow this one to the fire so let's say if you guys are building a website
54:55 help your mother i told her I told uh I told her I'd help her and she should go
54:59 to Squarespace visit squarespace.com and use offer code
55:03 lionus so your site doesn't crash when we call it out on the WAN Show
55:10 you've let everyone down today you've
55:14 let down your mother you've let down me
55:17 you've let down the viewers no I should
55:21 have double checked but I was pretty sure oh all right so second sponsor also
55:27 iFixit this spot cannot possibly go any
55:30 worse than the last one
55:33 ifixit.com is where to go if you need
55:36 help taking apart your devices and repairing them or upgrading them or
55:41 whatever the case may be and their flagship product you guys is the iixit
55:46 tech tool kit which is freaking awesome
55:50 luke and I both have them we love them how often you use yours uh I used it
55:55 yesterday good are you sure you didn't use something from iFixit's competitor
56:00 yesterday would you like to pull it out and show the audience i could go get it
56:05 no it's okay so the point is the uh the Protek tool kit has a 54-bit driver kit
56:11 with specialty and security bits it's got like pry tools it's got a bunch of
56:16 tweezers it's got a magnet for pulling crap out of places it's got an ESD wrist
56:20 strap it's basically freaking awesome we love them and if you use offer code when
56:26 you can save $10 off a purchase of 50 or more which means you can get the ProTek
56:31 tool kit for 55 bucks plus shipping
56:34 brandon used it to take apart the Fury X here we go what are you trying to do to
56:38 me i'm sorry man ah I didn't know here's
56:42 our i Fix It Kit that's Luke's i Fix It kit you can tell we like we like marked
56:47 our territory on our iFix it kits because like the thing that's great
56:52 about the tech tool kit is that it has all these little pieces so if someone
56:56 else borrows your tech tool kit and they lose
56:59 your piece All my pieces are still here yeah do are they well are you missing
57:04 one no oh okay never mind did you think I was i was missing one in mine for a
57:09 little bit oh really yeah yeah i dropped one of them in a shipping box that I
57:12 shipped out the day after I realized I wonder if I dropped it in that shipping
57:16 box i was missing my magnet oh the
57:19 magnet is like super handy it's just a bit for the screwdriver that takes out
57:22 the magnet did someone Did you get it back yeah yeah yeah i dropped it in a
57:26 shipping box and right before I packed it up I was like "Oh maybe I dropped it in there." I thought you were saying
57:30 like you realized it the day after sorry yeah no I got it i got it so um I'm
57:34 sorry i fix it offer code when And that offer code changes all the time you guys
57:39 so don't sit on your butt and think that you can use the offer code later
57:43 necessarily if you want one of them 14 days it's good for 14 days so get on
57:47 that and uh save your 10 bucks so um
57:53 so Nick Nick is going to get like a
57:57 heart attack or like some other kind of
58:01 crippling crippling injury a heart attack i'm so done with you check your
58:07 check the last email I just sent to you oh what oh jeez do I even want to know
58:12 yeah yeah uh okay uh blah blah blah blah
58:17 blah blah blah blah blah do I have to uh no what i don't think so last email I
58:22 just sent you you sent me an email yeah yeah oh oh oh oh no way those look like
58:28 the All right okay okay so I think it's
58:34 going to be the last straw poll of the day and I can trust you guys i can trust
58:39 you guys on this straw we have done no tech news today yeah we did we have done
58:45 like four stories we have done a low amount of tech news today what is this
58:51 show even i don't know wang show every
58:55 week fridays 400 p.m pst 4:30 p.m pst
58:59 and not always PST could be PDT yeah
59:02 just PT yeah Pacific part time part time
59:06 you're You're going to be part-time at this rate
59:10 semi you've you've made your Yeah
59:15 I'm just going to slash your pay my My hour availability will be like the
59:20 availability of Fury X's oo oh
59:27 okay so I'm going to show you guys option one and option two for vote for
59:34 turnip shirts and I'm going to download these so I don't show you guys please
59:37 don't do that all my emails who did this anyway me oh you did it really nice well
59:42 they're not like crazy good i think they're crazy good i think we should go
59:48 with the this style i think I actually didn't know how I was going to like the
59:51 second one and I kind of like the second one better oh don't influence don't
59:55 influence the viewers okay so we want you guys to vote for option one or
59:59 option two but first I'm going to show you the options this is I zoomed in too
60:04 much this is vote for turnip option one
60:09 with the turnip okay and this is um a
60:14 look at my Dropbox uh progress bar uh
60:18 that's a a W show thumbnail okay give me a second just give me a second
60:25 oh my god that is professionalism that is my pictures folder maybe you should
60:29 host your pictures on Squarespace and this is the I don't even want to hear
60:33 about anything from you to do with Squarespace for the rest of the show
60:37 this is the regular vote for turnup shirt so option one is with the picture
60:42 of the turnup option two is just with
60:45 the text i'm going to go ahead i'm going to post that straw poll right now this
60:49 will influence the turnup shirt whichever one wins okay you guys but on
60:54 that straw poll will there be a vote for turnup option no should I should there
60:58 be no no no we need a decision we need a
61:02 decision we need a decisive decision well cuz both of these are voting for
61:05 turn rather than going rather than going option one option two you should say
61:09 with turnip picture without turnip picture it's done
61:15 to be fair Nick was very right
61:19 wow it's a dead heat look at that maybe
61:22 because they don't know what the options are so option one is with the picture of
61:25 a turnip option two is without the
61:28 turnip option one costs us more cuz there's more ink colors can we make a a
61:33 war a war of the turnips
61:37 what the hell are you talking about like a turnup fight you are not having a good
61:41 day
61:45 okay no but you could have like two two
61:48 waring Teespring campaigns and then you
61:51 see who wins that couldn't work damn
61:57 cuz like with Kickstarter you have to like put your money on your vote yes but
62:02 like if we could make it so that everyone had to vote and then you just get whatever one wins wow that would be
62:07 like a whole new shirt buying paradigm that absolutely no one would
62:12 like you just buy whatever shirt everyone decides they're buying it's
62:16 like tea fury but you don't get to pick it's like mashdrop plus teespring plus
62:22 like plus like the haunted house where you put your hand into the bucket of
62:26 like spaghetti and like grapes and then you pull out a handful and eat it that's
62:31 what that idea is i get your idea and I like it but I
62:35 think it might be ripping off TF Fury huh tf Fury no cuz No they always have
62:41 like two and they It's like buy Yeah no but my idea is you don't get the one
62:46 that you necessarily voted for you get whatever one wins you're the worst
62:49 person ever
62:53 why are Why did you even wake up this morning wow i meant why did you get out
62:57 of bed not why did you wake up wow yeah i wish you were sleeping
63:02 forever wow what a way to break up with someone
63:06 right
63:09 this is the worst show ever no it's it's not it's There's like 7,200 people
63:14 watching it's not you i just wish you were permanently sleeping i bet you why
63:19 did you get out of bed i don't wish you I don't wish you were dead it's still
63:24 okay if you consume oxygen but I never want you I never want you to talk or
63:32 move i hate this
63:36 show okay so it looks like the one with
63:39 the picture of the turnup one and I guess we should probably do some tech
63:44 news cuz we have like 20 minutes left in
63:48 the show
63:52 we're sleeping forever mattress
63:59 okay okay i like Burkel's version i am so thirsty right now i've been like
64:04 talking and laughing too much it's illegal to rip CDs if you live in the UK
64:11 yeah so this was posted on the forum by a Ming the original artic article here
64:15 is from f.org this is the stupidest thing ever because
64:20 ripping CDs is not sharing CDs
64:25 so I don't understand what the issue here with
64:30 ripping CDs is um yeah sure thank you
64:34 yeah I I could use a drink thank you very much um
64:38 I think I think his desire for my permanent sleep means that I'm not
64:42 getting a drink but it's okay i understand um
64:46 so court strikes down law allowing users
64:49 to rip their own CDs i don't have much to say about this there their there
64:53 possible like ways to get around this is to supply evidence um that the copyright
64:59 owners suffer no or minimal harm from uh personal copying or impose a new tax on
65:04 users to compensate the industry for that harm
65:09 i mean we already have that tax in Canada so there's that
65:13 it's really funny though because the tax is on if I recall correctly blank media
65:19 and then I think MP3 players
65:23 so like the two deadest categories ever
65:28 peace media industry hope you enjoyed that levy while it lasted i was in um
65:33 you know how I made the video about the Taipei Tech Mall
65:36 I haven't watched it yet i feel bad i should watch it it's a weird It's not a
65:41 normal video so it may be interesting um beside the brand new shiny fancy tech
65:46 mall there's the old building which is the old tech mall which isn't shiny at
65:51 all it is very unshiny but there's tons of tech i think there's like 11 floors
65:56 or something and they're all just tiny little stores that are jammed completely
65:59 full of just stuff one of them was a
66:03 blank media store they sold DVDs and CDs
66:06 and there was people shopping really do
66:10 they not have USB drives i walked by and was just like "What?" You know what's
66:15 really funny is uh a friend of mine in high school and uh I'm dating myself a
66:21 little bit here um a friend of mine in high school Wow
66:26 i think it was a trip to Hong Kong okay
66:29 or Taiwan i'm not sure which one so I don't want to don't quote me on it but
66:34 this is like back when I was in like grade eight so USB thumb drives were
66:39 like the the [ __ ] okay like it was a
66:43 16meg and like he got a 32meg because he
66:47 like splurged on himself but still that
66:51 was like a really nice gift because all of a sudden I had a USB drive and like
66:56 everyone else was slumbing it with floppy drives floppy discs straight up
67:00 okay so um so I'm kind of wondering how
67:04 is it that we've come full circle here
67:07 there was there was flash media stores there was there was a store that um I
67:12 know I sold only flash stuff they sold flash drives they sold uh M.2 things
67:18 they sold SSDs right so like a memory store only flash stuff no hard drives no
67:23 hard drives wow yeah just flash what does that say
67:28 hard drive stores there was everything there was like five different places
67:32 that sold like basically the exact same thing on a floor it was ridiculous um
67:38 anyways that's really all we probably have to say about that I'm assuming so
67:43 the court accepted that the EU copyright directive does not require that sellers
67:48 must be able to extract the every last gram of value from the copyright so the
67:53 personal copying exception may have resulted in loss of sales um for example
67:58 a consumer may have refrained from buying an extra copy of their favorite
68:02 CD for their car uh so the government
68:05 failed to provide any evidence that these lost sales were zero or minimal um
68:10 you should be able to refrain from buying extra copy of CD for your car you
68:13 absolutely should that's so dumb if you're buying something that you're
68:16 licensing rather than something that you're owning then you should straight
68:20 up have a personal license to it i mean that's the way that anything sensible
68:26 actually works i mean Office 365 is my
68:29 license for the computer no that's the direction the world's going the licenses
68:33 for me personally and the five devices that I want to use it on freaking
68:38 awesome that is the right direction um
68:41 so yeah this this is I buy certain soundtracks like I'm I'm a huge fan of
68:45 Super Giant Games and I really like their music department like the music
68:49 for Bastion is fantastic i listen to that soundtrack while I run a lot uh the
68:53 music for Transistor was also very good i think Bastion was better but
68:56 regardless I bought the Transistor soundtrack you actually found the disc for it
69:00 that's because I ripped it and then completely forgot about it since the
69:04 game came out because why would I care about the disc whatever i don't know who
69:10 cares um so this was posted by Twisted
69:14 Dictator um original article here is from
69:17 pcgamer.com and it's Assassin's Creed
69:20 news so this is either this is either Ubisoft kind of
69:28 you know pulling their heads out of their butts and uh you know really
69:33 committing to PC gamers that they've uh they're taking it seriously now and
69:37 they're like ready to ready to do things properly or this is going to have to
69:43 Okay if Assassin's Creed Syndicate is a mess on the PC do we do Keep on Digging
69:49 V2 do we do another keep on digging
69:52 shirt keep on keeping on digging or something
69:57 like that keep on Oh my god you could make it like the keep on keeping on and
70:01 then just put the digging in the middle of the text yes like those yeah anyways
70:05 that would be an awesome That would be a really cool shirt actually um so
70:08 creative director tells PC Gamer at E3
70:12 "We've got an internal team that's dedicated to the PC version and one of
70:16 the things I'm happy about is that we're really taking our time with the PC
70:20 version to really make it shine we want the game to really work well on the PC
70:25 on day one which is why it's not the same launch date as the Xbox One and PS4
70:29 versions it will come a bit later in the fall but I think it will be worth the
70:33 wait." Haven't they said this before so they're taking a page out of Rockstar's
70:37 book where Okay yes pc gamers yeah but
70:41 GTA V came out pretty okay but it also took a really long time so I think
70:45 they're finding a Well that's exactly it so they're taking a page out of Rockstars book people were upset at all
70:50 the delays but you look at the amount of upset people are over Arkham Knight
70:55 versus the amount of upset people are over GTA 5 where on Arkham Knight it
71:00 translates into bad reviews and people not buying the game and with GTA 5 oops
71:06 I almost just flipped the bird at the audience whereas GTA 5 it translates
71:10 into people buying copious numbers of copies jack from NCX was telling me he
71:14 literally owns two copies of the game one for the Xbox and one on PC so that
71:20 extra features they built into PC can be enjoyed again and one really smart thing
71:25 that they did was your online character could transfer so you could bring them
71:29 from the console version to the PC version so there's people that were like over level 100 on day one PC which was a
71:35 little insane but it's not really that big of a deal in that game so who cares
71:38 so um so yeah so that's basically all there is to it so it's going to come on
71:42 the to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 23rd and um they're saying a bit
71:48 later in the fall so that means we're not going to be looking at 2017 for a
71:52 release i mean given that Assassin's Creed is on a yearly release cadence
71:56 it's not like they can wait that much longer like they can't be launching you
72:00 know Assassin's Creed uh you know Amazonia or whatever sort of local they
72:06 end up going to next amazonia would go on the Xbox and then Yeah that would
72:12 actually be awesome jungle Assassinations could be pretty badass so
72:15 cool i really want that game now um maybe not made by Ubisoft but I really
72:19 want that game oh come on okay I want to say two things about this real quick
72:23 first off I believe they said exactly this crap before we're focusing on the
72:28 PC version it'll be better it'll be good it's coming out speaking of which our
72:31 next news topics are Microsoft with the exact same crap anyways but I'll give
72:37 them the benefit of the doubt i'll try this one i'm not going to pre-order any of that crap but I'll try it cuz we're
72:41 probably going to bench it anyways yeah you're going to wait for our bench comment yeah yeah and then if it's good
72:46 I will not finish it and go back and try the other ones and any of them that are
72:51 playable I'll try to play through and catch playable
72:55 wow gatorade you are drinking it
72:59 needs like an H on here it's blue it
73:02 works for I'm surprised you drink Gatorade i would think that has too much
73:05 sugar in it for you it does but there was two two things of liquid you took
73:10 one of them i'm really thirsty it's crazy hot i thought this was for me i
73:14 thought that was like your Gatorade cuz I don't have Gatorade he handed him that
73:17 where did the Gatorade come from it's not mine i think it's Snicks oh he gave
73:21 you his Gatorade i guess he That's why I said thanks he doesn't hate you that much he doesn't want me to permanently
73:25 sleep anymore yeah that's nice or maybe he does kind of fill me with sugar it's
73:29 just not horrible all right Microsoft this was posted by
73:34 Jaws on the forum just made millions off
73:38 of Windows XP software that is literally
73:41 over 10 years old with that said it's
73:45 not like um it's not like the way that a company sometimes makes money off of
73:51 10year-old software where they actually don't have to do any additional work and
73:56 it's just money in the bank uh this is a contract between the US Navy and
74:00 Microsoft to continue to provide security updates and patches for Windows
74:05 XP for the
74:09 100,000 workstations that they're still busy transitioning um to newer operating
74:15 systems so I guess for the US Navy you know given how many workstations they
74:21 have uh going on that are relying on Windows XP Office 2003 Exchange 2003 and
74:27 Windows Server 2003 um the uh the
74:31 contract which could extend up to 2017 could be worth the 30.8 million to not
74:37 have to have the software that runs on those PCs cuz you could even look at
74:42 that and go really 30.8 million like they could just buy a bunch of like
74:47 badass like Digital Storm gaming rigs
74:50 for 30.8 million running Windows 8 which
74:53 they could upgrade to Windows 10 and then not have to worry about this for a
74:56 while that would be so weird just like you walk into a Navy thing and it's like
75:00 digital storm water cooling it's like okay i don't know i'd expect much more
75:06 like industrial style stuff but the issue is the software that won't run on
75:11 newer versions of Windows that would have to be rewritten and that they're
75:14 kind of still working on well that's why like people was it the Omron video
75:18 they're like "Oh l Windows XP." And I'm like "Yeah never connects to the
75:22 internet does the same thing all the time it's probably okay." Like I don't
75:26 know anything that doesn't connect to the internet could be running Windows 95
75:29 for all that matters like it it never and you don't plug anything into it
75:34 like whatever it adds a keyboard and mouse and then you do stuff whatever
75:38 doesn't matter Windows 10 Insider this
75:41 has been huge news this week this was posted by
75:45 Kodiak and the article here is from Ars
75:49 Technica microsoft clarification kind of clears up the
75:54 Windows 10 license confusion because this has been some confusing stuff going
75:59 on right now so Microsoft can't make up their mind about what's going on with
76:03 Windows 10 licensing so first the rumor was that that people running pirated
76:08 editions would get Windows 10 and then they were going to get upgraded to
76:11 Windows 10 but it was going to be with the same restrictions as the pirated
76:15 edition or something whatever whatever that means which is okay and then it was
76:20 uh insiders were going to get free copies of Windows 10 and then it was
76:25 insiders are going to get um upgrade
76:28 copies or something like that so they would have to install the wait something
76:31 okay people who have Windows 7 and Windows 8 they get an upgrade copy they'd have to reinstall the old one and
76:35 then install again over top of it the whole thing's been confusing but the big
76:39 one has been that Microsoft said they were going to give insiders so the folks
76:44 that have been essentially uh beta testing the software a legit full copy
76:50 of Windows 10 for nothing and they have clarified it now the requirement is that
76:56 whether you're on the fast track for new builds or the slower track for new
77:00 builds you have to stay in the insider
77:03 program in order to get the free ongoing
77:08 legitimate product so to opt out of the
77:12 insider pro uh program you will need a valid Windows 7 8 or 10 license because
77:17 without a suitable license the operating system will eventually expire you know
77:22 one thing I've been wondering about with the pirate license thing this isn't 100% on topic but if you have you know how
77:28 you can like there's there's there's there's ways to get your computer to
77:32 make it think that it's activated for a little while and then a lot of times Windows will figure it out and nuke it
77:37 and then you go unactivated or whatever if you are kind of like fakeo activated
77:43 are you going to get your key overwritten and then be permanently activated on Windows 10 i don't know if
77:49 it's very clear right now there's still a few things that are up in the air but
77:53 the point basically was hey um the
77:57 insider program is looking pretty cool if you don't mind beta testing software
78:01 for Microsoft and the fact that this is on an ongoing basis really points to a
78:07 really different uh philosophy for
78:10 Microsoft Windows i like it with it
78:13 sounds like much more rapid releases and much smaller feature
78:19 upgrades i mean that that is really cool really exciting and thank you to all the
78:24 insiders who are uh who are who are testing all this stuff and giving
78:28 feedback so that we can get you know better versions of Windows as time goes
78:31 on i'm liking this whole I'm liking this whole new Microsoft thing that's going
78:35 on i wasn't sure that a CEO change was
78:38 going to make a difference and it really looks like a lot of times it doesn't but
78:43 a lot of times it really does nothing yeah it's just like it's like an on the
78:49 surface sort of change whereas this looks like a thing but they hired him
78:53 from internal and they hired him from like the cloud team or something didn't
78:56 they i think so so they they hired a fairly technical dude to kind of take
79:00 over that spot liking the whole liking the whole change going on over there all
79:05 right now we should do we should stick on the
79:09 Microsoft news bandwagon because this is actually what I thought you were going
79:12 to bring up um after the Ubisoft thing because it
79:17 would have made a ton of sense um to go right after the Ubisoft thing i don't
79:21 know if you even knew this was in the dock though so uh Xbox Phil Spencer I
79:26 want to give people a chance i called this out in the topics at the thing that
79:32 we when we say things that Who posted this one twisted dictator this was Twist
79:35 the Dictator again yeah and this is very similar to the Assassin's Creed one that
79:40 is not it though wow that's really funny i uh Okay I got to show you guys this so
79:46 I clicked the link I thought and Oh wait
79:50 oh I clicked the wrong link anyway I clicked the link to the Assassin's Creed
79:53 one by accident so uh so it's not that
79:56 one anyways he he he states that he wants Xbox to be the best TV gaming
80:01 platform but also give the users a choice to play games when they're not
80:06 around the TV and he says "As a gamer I
80:09 play games on PC i want to be able to play the games where I want to play them
80:14 i want to give people a choice." Um and basically he goes through saying that if
80:18 if you want to play where does he call out titles here he calls out titles
80:24 somewhere here we go so if I if I want to play Killer Instinct if I want to
80:28 play Gear if I want to play Fable I should be able to do that and I
80:31 shouldn't have to force people to buy something by um excluding their
80:40 choice xbox says a lot of crap and then
80:44 never does anything about it but aren't they bringing Gears to PC
80:50 um I think so i don't think they're I
80:54 don't think they're doing the entire back catalog so the assumption would be that you've already played all the Gears
80:58 games on Xbox or else you're going to get dumped into the story in the middle
81:03 of whatever's happening in Gears i don't play Gears cuz it's not on PC yeah i
81:08 don't know i know there's some really jacked dudes and they fight aliens i
81:13 know that there's a gun and they have a saw on the bottom yeah that's cool yeah
81:18 um and like a chainsaw well I think there are chest high walls if yatsi is
81:23 to be believed yes so
81:27 there's blood on the chainsaws that are on the gun right but that's only if you
81:30 kill dudes with it or you or you like slip and cut yourself and then you hide
81:35 in a corner and you heal i would assume that there's gears but the blood doesn't
81:38 dry ah yes yeah yeah okay anyways I I
81:43 think they have actually been stepping in this direction so this is a whole
81:47 bunch of words that technically have no actionable items behind them and no
81:51 promises that they're doing anything at all so it could mean literally nothing
81:56 okay cool but I'm hoping that it kind of does and especially with the Xbox app on
82:01 PC there is a ton of potential here because if they want to start doing
82:04 crazy amounts of crossplatform stuff that'd be cool speaking of crossplatform
82:09 um I've been doing a little bit of work on the Shield Android TV thing you know
82:14 what's really cool there's um War Thunder
82:20 on Android TV yeah I knew that and it's not just Android TV that you play on
82:24 it's crossplatform so I can play with my buddy on PC while I'm on my Android TV
82:29 on Android TV that's very cool y there isn't like I've been messing around with
82:33 uh Android TV and so so the stores are
82:37 weird i finally realized that like if you really want to use it you should
82:40 really use the NVIDIA store because the Google Play Store for Android TV is crap
82:45 but the NVIDIA store is actually really good they actually do the Shield store or the Shield Hub they do a really good
82:50 job of curating everything and it's like "Yeah here's the stuff that should be
82:53 relevant to you if you own a Shield." The Android one it's so fragmented like
82:58 I was trying to find games with Nick and we'd be like "Oh okay here's a list of
83:01 games." There'd be like five and I'm like "Wow this is all the games they
83:04 have on this platform what?" And then like half an hour later we're in some
83:07 other menu with a whole bunch of them but they're all unsorted and there's no ratings i'm like "What?"
83:13 But then yeah the Shield Hub had ratings and more stuff so it's no wonder Google
83:18 is like buddy buddy with NVIDIA um like
83:21 NVIDIA for NVIDIA is investing really
83:24 heavily in Android as a gaming platform you can really see it things like the
83:29 fact that my Shield Portable is probably the oldest device that I own that is
83:33 still getting Android updates um NVIDIA's doing a really good job of
83:38 trying to support these devices i sure wish instead of that they would bring us
83:42 Shield Portable 2 instead of things that hook up to your TV and things that are a
83:47 tablet well not instead of in addition to I mean those are good things too i
83:50 just I really want a new Shield Portable the Tiger X1 i hope I
83:55 hope if there's something that is viable I guess I would understand but I really
84:00 want them to just stop calling their new device just the
84:04 Shield like give it give it a full name
84:07 so that when something else new comes out that you're also going to call the
84:10 Shield it's not just called the Shield again and then that old one gets a new
84:14 name cuz isn't the Shield console actually just called the Shield i think
84:18 it's called the Shield Android TV which is the stupidest thing ever it's a
84:22 really long name but at least at least it's self-explanatory yeah yeah i Yeah
84:26 it's it's really it's really confusing i I wish Yeah i Yeah i don't know what the
84:31 naming so like you can tell they're kind of making this up as they go yeah and
84:35 they're just kind of like trying things throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks i mean the thing that
84:38 they're the thing that they've been really clear about from the beginning is
84:42 that the software is important
84:45 so they're really focused on making sure game stream rocks they're really focused
84:49 on making sure the Shield Hub is like Shield Hub has been completely
84:52 redesigned at least once since uh since I've been using it yeah um very good but
84:58 the hardware they're just I think they're just kind of trying stuff like
85:01 next we might see a shield backpack i I I don't know well I was kind of think
85:06 when when I said like I don't know what devices you would come out with the first thing that popped in my head was a
85:10 drone the battle drones that we've been talking about oh that would be so if you
85:13 had Android drones that you could fight virtually
85:18 like the virtual fighting drones already kind of exist but if it was like a
85:22 proper good game made for it that could be kind of cool like shield drones
85:26 shield drones yeah NVIDIA drones my drone would be shielded straight up you
85:31 couldn't take it down well what are we talking about considering they'd
85:34 probably be the same so would mine and then that would be a boring fight cuz
85:40 two paladins with divine shield is really boring for about six or seven
85:43 seconds all right so there's a rumor that Apple will be moving
85:47 away from the home button yeah so full
85:51 full screen screens yep they are apparently developing a chip that will
85:55 allow that functionality that functionality to be
86:00 integrated into the touch screen and based on that they've already got force
86:04 force touch on the Apple Watch which by the way is horrible compared to force
86:08 touch on the MacBook yeah it's like here okay I'll I'll I'll show you because
86:12 it's like it's just dumb okay um Oops
86:17 okay so force touch so like press and then like press harder you notice how
86:21 fast the screen turns off isn't that hilarious it's like we don't have very
86:26 good battery life screen off screen off screen off as quickly as possible always
86:29 so go ahead force touch it like just press and then hold no no the
86:35 screen okay now you've got Siri open
86:40 press harder that's weird yeah so it's
86:44 just a vibe on your wrist whereas did you ever use the MacBook's touchpad no
86:48 oh okay okay well then you don't even know what you're comparing i have no idea what you're talking so it sounds
86:53 cool you press you press harder on the trackpad and then haptic feedback makes
86:58 it feel like there's two layers of click when actually on the MacBook there is no
87:03 downward movement at all okay can you
87:07 Okay so let's move on to our next news topic anyway I think force touch on a
87:11 touchcreen is gonna be super dumb but but I also got sold on it on the MacBook
87:18 so there you go uh this is from Kit Guru originally posted by Buu PCI Express
87:24 4.0 uh the new data rates and new
87:28 connector to be finalized by
87:31 2017 so we're going to get a doubling to
87:35 16 giga transfers per second uh of the
87:40 available uh communication bandwidth so
87:44 that is something along the lines of oh balls what is it i think it's like 2
87:47 gigabytes per second per lane or something like that hold on hold on yeah
87:53 um yeah a 1x interconnect will transfer
87:57 up to 2 gigabytes per second when you compare that to the 250 megabytes per
88:02 second of Gen One wow now I believe optics are going to be
88:08 involved um Oh really not in not uh so
88:14 not in this one necessarily but a fifth generation is going to almost definitely
88:20 rely on optical rather than copper links but this one is still copper you're
88:25 still going to be able to have risers but they won't be as long and it's going
88:29 to be a new connector so this is a tricky thing backwards compatibility for
88:34 the first time is not going to be a given
88:38 so PCI Express Gen 3 cards will work in
88:43 a Gen 4 slot but a PCI Express Gen 4
88:47 card will not work in your old Gen 3 motherboard so what's going to be really
88:52 interesting to see here is if AMD once again doesn't have the R&D to develop
88:58 the latest PCI Express standard we could
89:01 see a pretty devastating impact on their
89:05 CPU sales at least for for upgraders because I don't know if a lot
89:10 of you even realize this there is not an AMD chipset that supports PCI Express
89:15 3.0 But they're like their graphics cards do but they literally have that
89:20 only for the benefit of people plugging them into Intel they're talking about making that new CPU though right have
89:25 they said what socket it's on probably new socket i'm sure they know
89:29 about this oh that's 2017 yeah yeah pci Express 4.0 is 2017 so um Zen should be
89:35 coming next year so hopefully AMD is laying the
89:39 groundwork now to support PCI Express 4 cuz not being able to get a new graphics
89:44 card in one year not being able to get a top-of-the-line
89:47 new graphics card in one year would be pretty rough it's uh yeah the the 20
89:54 Well remember too the spec will be finalized by 2017 uh so it won't really
89:58 be out on consumer boards for quite a while so it'll be it's going to be a
90:01 while but you know if it was 2017 I
90:04 don't know that I would necessarily invest in like an Uber rig if PCI
90:08 Express 4.0 is around the corner yeah uh with that said I mean just cuz you want
90:12 to be able to put new cards into it we could see yet again we could see it
90:17 happen again where top tier cards could be released for both interfaces we've
90:22 seen this before in the AGP to PCI Express transition era you could buy an
90:27 X800 XT uh AGP or an X800 or X850 or
90:32 like whatever it was there were PCI Express and AGP versions of like similar
90:38 power graphics cards at the time so I
90:42 don't know and it probably won't matter i don't know how it'll be handled
90:45 graphics cards probably still won't be too fast by the way yeah like I don't
90:49 think you'll need the extra bandwidth it's just Well I mean it depends what we're doing with graphics cards like if
90:53 they find a way you know maybe HBM memory and like you know your new VR
90:58 setup are going to have some like crazy fast interconnect or something like you
91:03 know imagine this for a second what if you had like a hyper high resolution
91:07 display for VR that required literally a
91:11 PCI Express link to your computer like what if you couldn't run over display
91:15 port think about that for a second
91:18 like what if you had to have like like like PCI Express with like repeaters in
91:24 order to get enough distance to like But what if you could play at like 16k or
91:28 32k or something crazy like that there's got to be a a visual fidelity limit or
91:33 whatever yeah but I don't think we're anywhere near it no I Is 8K the limit
91:38 you think i have no idea 4k isn't the limit we know that much no idea i think
91:42 Carmarmac wants 4K because that's what there is not because that's the limit
91:47 yeah but there's the other problem is there's other stuff that needs to be increased too yes there's a lot of stuff
91:52 so like we won't even know what the limit is because it say if we're there
91:56 and there's other problems you won't necessarily know yep you have to leave
91:59 it to other things so speaking of no clue what it's going to be leaving to do
92:04 other things i think that's it for the WAN Show today thank you guys very much
92:08 for tuning in a huge thanks to our sponsors for putting up with this guy
92:12 i'm sorry thank you to Squarespace for Oh I can't even believe that i love you
92:17 Squarespace i can't believe build it beautiful i can't believe we dodoed your
92:21 mom's website
92:27 okay I have an assignment for you move her to Squarespace by the next time we
92:32 do a Squarespace spot on WAN Show so next WAN Show her site needs to be on
92:37 Squarespace so that we can show it not going down that's fine on Squarespace i
92:41 honestly thought it already was and I know she wants to so I'll just probably
92:45 do it for her okay all right or I'll walk her through it okay she made that
92:49 one all by herself though and that was even harder so it's probably going to
92:52 look better on Squarespace it probably will and like I even noticed the page
92:56 wasn't loading that fast and I was like I was looking at it earlier today and I
93:00 was wondering why there wasn't a a purchase button on one of the things and
93:04 I was like "What the heck?" Cuz the site's broken
93:08 so we'll we'll fix that a So thank you guys for tuning in and we'll see you
93:12 again next week same bat time same bat channel and do we really have 7,200 of
93:17 you every week to look forward to now that school's out you guys rock school
93:22 should always be out am I right am I right woo woo
93:28 oh wow did he just say what I think he said
93:33 yes
93:50 say you know what's really funny is I was I was even going to tell you on the
93:53 show today that Squarespace just logged in as like our sponsor at CVS oh we're
93:59 not streaming are we yes I think so they didn't oh they didn't all right well the
94:04 show's over
