0:01 All right. So, assuming all of that worked, I am now
0:05 live. Live doing something that I have
0:09 wanted to do for a long time. Ever since
0:13 CES 2016 when I got my first look at the
0:18 marvelous, the magnificent, the
0:22 majestic MSI
0:25 G65 Vortex gaming computer.
0:30 I'm going to be taking it apart. I'm going to be taking every single screw
0:34 out of it and I am going to be reducing it to its mirror components so we can
0:38 find out exactly what makes this thing tick with three camera angles. Yes, my
0:44 friends, I have a dedicated close-up cam. I took all the feedback you gave me
0:48 from my last live stream where I had like the world's shoddiest webcam as
0:52 like my close-up and I uh made it even better. So without any further ado,
0:59 let's get
1:08 started. Tunnel Bear is the easy to use
1:11 VPN service that lets you use the web as if you're in one of 20 different
1:15 countries. Learn more and try Tunnel Bear for free at the link in the video
1:20 description. Yeah, without any further ado, let's start opening this baby up.
1:24 Now, I actually have a full disassembly guide provided by MSI, which is funny
1:29 cuz last time they I they let me see this thing. They wouldn't let me take
1:33 the panels off of it even. But, I'm going to try to get away with not using
1:37 it to the greatest extent that I possibly can. So, here on the bottom,
1:42 actually, I'll get you guys a look at the close-up cam here. So, here on the
1:46 bottom, I've got not a whole lot of much of anything to speak of. Uh, no screws,
1:51 no nothing. just the power input down there. I actually really like the way
1:55 they did the power input and I'm hoping to find out exactly how they handled the
1:59 cable management. It's funny for my review of this device. Um, they actually
2:04 took it apart in my absence. I have never seen the inside of it yet, even
2:08 though our review actually has internal shots. So, uh, so there you go. So, I'm
2:12 looking forward to checking that out. Um, other than that, there's just IO.
2:15 There's six uh security torque screws on
2:18 the back. So, you will need something like an iFixit tool kit in order to take
2:23 this baby apart. And other than that, there's nothing. See, the top is just
2:28 just plain. Bottom's plain. Front just has these plastic panels. So, without
2:33 any further ado, let's uh let's get this baby started. So, I've got not one but
2:39 two iix it kits. This stream brought to you by iFixit. Actually, no. They
2:44 haven't sponsored anything with us in a long time. But it's like
2:48 realistically, well, like I lose track
2:51 of what camera I'm talking to. Hello. Uh, realistically, I What else am I
2:55 going to use? I mean, they they sent us their kits, um, which I used to augment
3:01 the kit of theirs that I already had and already used for everything. Actually,
3:04 speaking of, uh, speaking of I fix it and them not sponsoring this stream,
3:09 where is my Ah, yes. Here's my other
3:13 handy dandy thing from from those guys
3:17 which doesn't have the pen. Why can no one keep anything where
3:23 it's supposed to be? This is my uh this is my handy little little mat that I
3:28 have where I can label where all the screws came from that I took out. But uh
3:33 it's supposed to have one of those overhead projector pens for those of you
3:36 who are old enough to remember overhead projectors. And I don't see it. This is
3:42 a permanent marker. I do not want to use that. Uh perhaps a dry erase marker. Um
3:48 Brandon, could you obtain me a dry erase marker? Be a dear. There's one behind
3:55 you. Actually, very close to you. Yes, that would be perfect. And if that one
3:59 doesn't work very well, I may need a different one. Thank you, sir. All right. So, wow,
4:06 that really, really does not work very well. Um, but we're going to have to
4:12 we're going to have to go with it. So, this is a little magnetic mat that will
4:15 help me keep track of my screws so that I don't accidentally lose
4:20 them. Even better than a magnetic parts tray. I wish it was more magnetic.
4:25 That's sort of the one thing that I could that I could complain about, but
4:29 uh that's okay. So, I'll try and give you guys a good good view of what it is
4:34 that I'm doing here. Sorry. My my monitors for the stream are my laptop,
4:38 which is next to me on my right here, right actually under the camera you guys
4:42 are looking at, and then also the
4:45 computer that
4:48 is over over there. So, I'm going to be
4:53 kind of looking all over the place during the stream, but I'll do my best
4:56 to keep that as nondistracting as I possibly can. I am sort of new to this
5:01 whole u you know, multicamming it myself thing.
5:07 One thing I think I would like to adjust though is that camera's position above
5:12 me. I think it's a little bit too wide of a shot, but I really don't know if
5:16 there's much that I can do about that right
5:19 now. Okay. 1 2 3 4 5 and six. I hate
5:23 security torques. It's one of those things where
5:28 like it's bad enough you put a torque screw on it. Like I can't it's it's hard
5:32 for normal people who don't have a bunch of, you know, tools designed for taking
5:36 apart electric gizmos. Um like it's it's it's bad enough to
5:41 have Torx on it in the first place. Security Torx is just adding insult to injury. Okay, so there you go. Um first
5:46 piece is off. So that warranty sticker is already uh tampered as hell. So why
5:52 don't we tamper it some more? H take that MSI blah blah blah blah blah. Think
5:57 my warranty is void now. Anyway, um that that's from John
6:03 actually taking it apart for B-roll in the video. But this gives us a good look
6:07 at the first plastic piece that I've taken off here. So, actually this Oh, is
6:13 this one metal? No, it couldn't be, could
6:18 it? Interesting. I can't I actually can't
6:23 tell, which is pretty unusual for me. I
6:26 think it is. No, can't be. Wait. Oh, okay. So,
6:31 there's a couple of uh there's a couple strips here for the RGB lighting. So,
6:35 those are just kind of like transparent uh transparent strips here. And then um
6:40 yeah, or actually I don't even know if there's lighting in that part. Maybe.
6:44 Okay. Hard to say. Whatever. There. Now, we don't have that anymore. Okay. So,
6:49 let's see what else we got going on here. That gave us access to a couple of
6:53 more screws here. So, there's one here and here.
6:57 Let's tamper that warranty some more. Uh, yep. There we
7:03 go. Boom. Come on out, you magnetic
7:10 bastard. There we go. And this guy. So, this will take off
7:16 hopefully that uh MSI Dragon
7:20 logo. And I'm going to have to make sure that I do a Oh crap, I just dropped a
7:25 screw. Uh uh oh. Oh, there it is. Ha. All is
7:31 well. Yes, for now. Plenty of time to
7:34 screw that up later. So, I'm going to call this
7:38 next to
7:43 dragon. Dragon. Hopefully that someone
7:46 knows what that means. Okay, that didn't really seem to do a
7:51 whole lot though. I am not able to
7:55 really remove anything extra that I couldn't remove before. I've got a
8:00 couple screws right down here that I can
8:03 access now. But uh maybe we can just pry off maybe we can just pry off the cup.
8:11 Oh, all right. Well, that was easy. Oh,
8:15 easy up until now. This is the thing I just I just hate about it's like I don't
8:20 have an answer for them cuz as far as I can tell it's the only way to do like a
8:24 clean seamless outer shell. But
8:27 like these uh Oh wow. I think I just popped that right off. But these uh
8:32 these screwless designs, they have to use all these really flimsy plastic
8:36 clips, you know. I think I managed to not break any though so far. These ones
8:41 all look intact. Uh that might have chipped.
8:45 Actually hard to tell. These ones all look intact. Not bad. All right. Go T
8:51 minus. Uh here we've got a little cable managed. Um looks like it looks like an
8:56 RGB LED. So I think this actually has to
9:00 sit under here. And that might have been
9:04 uh that might have been popped off as
9:07 sort of a derp when we were taking it apart and reassembling it. I'm actually
9:11 not entirely sure about that. Oh, maybe you know what? No, I think I'm wrong. I
9:15 think it just sits down here. Uh, well, like I think I said
9:20 earlier in the stream, I don't actually plan to put this back together. I'm just
9:24 going to send it to MSI in pieces so they can make sure that it's done
9:29 exactly correctly. Uh, the other thing in here is power for that LED. So, you
9:33 can see there's a little lead right here that plugs into a
9:38 uh there you go into a little spot on
9:41 the highly custom uh PCB that they've
9:45 got going on right here. I mean, look at this
9:48 thing. You've got uh what appears to be
9:52 an MXM slot. So, that would be for one of
9:56 the GTX 980s. Remember, these are 980s,
9:59 not 980M. Then you've got um an M.2
10:04 slot. Then you've got whatever the devil this is. Looks like some kind of a
10:08 support brace. And then you've got like, you know, an RGB LED thing. H more
10:13 warranty stickers. Oh, I am totally totally taking that off. All right. So,
10:16 let's see if we can get the other side open
10:22 here. H. The other one popped off kind
10:26 of from the back. So, where did the I where did the IO even go? Oh, there it
10:30 is. Thought I I thought I lost the USB port.
10:37 Mercy.
10:41 Um. Oh. Okay. All right. Well, this will
10:45 give us a look at the other side here then. So, uh, a lot of a lot of very
10:51 similar. So, we've got another
10:54 MXM graphics card or another MXM slot on
10:58 another custom PCB. Uh, this one does not have an M.2 drive slot on it,
11:04 though. So, you can see this one is just pure graphics card. Is it using the same
11:08 heat sink or have they actually created two separate heat
11:12 sinks? It appears to use Yes, it uses
11:16 exactly the same cooler module. So they
11:19 did manage to reuse that aspect of the design. So that's that's a good thing I
11:23 suppose. And then the other thing that we get access to for the first time over
11:27 here is the four sodium memory slots
11:31 that are actually on a separate PCB yet again. So it looks like because PCBs are
11:37 flat and not round, uh we're ending up
11:40 with very similar to the um well the
11:44 only other trash can shaped computer. you're ending up with kind of an arrangement on the inside of these flat
11:50 surfaces with actually surprisingly little wasted space in this case uh due
11:56 to the curvature of the exterior. So check this out. You can actually see if
12:00 I show it to you from this angle and and they actually didn't go quite straight
12:04 round either. They actually kind of angled it a little bit in the places
12:08 where they could in order to um take advantage of things like the flat tops
12:13 of heat sinks like uh like this one for example. See that? So right here at the
12:20 at the widest points you're going to find the corners of PCBs in all
12:24 likelihood. Let's see if that uh holds true. So over here actually no. Okay. So
12:29 you've got the RAM sticking up in that case. And then I think we've got one
12:33 more of those where yes, you are finding the uh ends of both of the GPU PCBs
12:39 right here at the front. So the graphics cards then here, just giving you guys a
12:42 better look at it now that we've stripped off all the outer shell. The graphics cards are in the
12:48 front with uh the CPU junk and RAM junk
12:52 and IO junk in the trunk, so to speak. So there's your CPU heat sink, which I
12:56 don't think I had specifically pointed out before. And here's the first uh the
13:01 first hint at the nightmare that is to come. I mean, even compared to a laptop,
13:04 this thing is going to be horrendous to uh take apart and put back together.
13:08 There's one of those like awful ribbon cables that if you've ever disassembled,
13:12 you know, your cell phone or your tablet or or a particularly compact laptop, I'm
13:17 sure you've encountered. Um they are they are very fragile and can be can be
13:22 a bit of a pain to deal with. So, now
13:26 we've got all those stripped off. I need to find more screws to take
13:31 apart. It looks to me as though there's got to be ways to
13:38 strip off more of the outer
13:45 chassis before we start pulling out
13:48 PCBs. So, I'm going to try I'm not sure
13:52 if this is going to work, but I'm going to try to take off this front piece
13:56 right here.
14:04 There we go. Oh, there's another one of
14:07 those uh there's another one of those little ribbon connectors. It's actually
14:11 got a black tape over it in this case.
14:14 Whoops. Okay. So, let's put those babies right there. I'm going to find out if
14:17 these ones on the bottom are the same and then I can label them all the same. I may even run out of label slots on a
14:23 project like this. couple down here. Are they the same?
14:28 Yes, they are. Very nice. Okay. I always appreciate that. That's something that
14:32 just baffles me when I see it where
14:36 you'll have a single product and it'll have like for no
14:41 apparent reason, it'll just have, you know, five different screw head types on
14:46 it, for example. So, you need all these different screwdrivers to take it apart. And I just kind of
14:51 go, why? Like, isn't this more work for
14:54 you, too? Every screw, every little tiny oop,
14:58 there it goes. Every little tiny widget is a skew for you. You have to inventory
15:04 it all separately. So, why are you going out of your way to make my life and
15:08 yours more difficult? All right. So, right here we've got the power button.
15:11 So, that was plugged in with that little um that little sleeved ribbon cable
15:16 there. Um yeah, it lights up. It does power. It's uh it slices. It dices. Uh
15:22 some plastic piece. Okay. So, we can put that aside for now. I'm also going to
15:26 label these puppies. So, uh let's see.
15:31 Front
15:34 fascia. Sure.
15:37 Okay. Rock on. So, let's see what we're going to do next then.
15:46 I'd love to remove more of this back piece, but I'm not actually
15:52 sure how that's going to
15:55 work. Let's see. So, there's some screws
15:58 down here. There's one, two right there.
16:02 Uh oh. Oh, look at that. This has already got some flex to it. So, maybe
16:06 that is just a matter of popping out those screws down there. Let's find out.
16:18 Uh, people are asking why I'm taking note of where the screws go if I don't
16:23 plan on reassembling it. Well, um, I
16:26 don't know. I mean, Cliff from MSI, he
16:30 might get all like mad and threaten to
16:33 threaten to brutally harm me if uh if I
16:36 don't put it back together. So, I'm going to see if I can get away with not putting it back together because I
16:40 mostly just don't feel like it because once I'm done with this stream, I'm done
16:43 with it. I'm sending it back to them. Um, but if they make me put it back
16:47 together, then I will. I try to be a nice guy, you know, except when I'm not.
16:51 Uh, all right. Let's have a look
16:55 here. So, this is definitely looser now.
16:58 See, you can see we've got uh we've got a lot of play in the bottom now, and
17:02 we've still got that play in the top, but it's also not quite ready to let go,
17:07 you know? You know, like all the kids but
17:13 the youngest one are moved out of the house. And you know, mama's like,
17:18 "Little Johnny, little Johnny, stay home. Just live with us
17:22 forever. I'm not ready to let go."
17:26 And little Johnny's like,
17:29 "Mom, I don't know why we have the same voice, but I got a girlfriend now, and
17:36 she really wants me to move out with her." And mama says, "Johnny, you can
17:40 bring your girlfriend here. I don't mind if she's a if she's an ugly skank and
17:45 she hates my waffles. I'll put up with her for you, Johnny. Just stay,
17:50 Johnny." Um, I think this is still attached.
17:56 So, let's go ahead and see if we can see
18:00 if we can remove maybe the top fan will come off
18:04 next. H. So, we've got this little screw here.
18:11 It's actually surprisingly few screw. Whoa, that just that just wanted to jump
18:17 right off. It's like excited here, you
18:21 know.
18:26 And it turns out I was totally
18:30 misinformed. Nick tells me iFixit is
18:33 indeed the sponsor for today's video. So, let me tell you about them. From
18:37 their 19,000 free step-by-step repair guides to their huge inventory of
18:42 replacement parts and tools with lifetime warranty, iFixit has got your
18:46 repair needs covered. And today we're talking about their latest and greatest,
18:51 the allnew ProTek Tool Kit. It's a completely re-imagined design, which
18:56 isn't to say that it's made of flubber or something. It's, you know, still
19:00 metal bits and all that stuff as before and like useful prying tools. It's just
19:05 better. So, it's got the new 64-bit driver kit, which has 10 more bits than
19:10 the 54-bit driver kit I'm using in this video. It's got a more durable case.
19:13 It's held together by freaking magnets instead of like a strap, which is
19:17 actually a huge improvement. It's the one that I use at home. It's longer
19:21 lasting. It's easier to use and just generally faster when you like have to
19:24 repair something right now. And it's got a newly designed swivel top precision
19:29 driver that's actually a lot more comfortable to use. The price on the
19:33 ProTek toolkit has increased to
19:36 $69.95, but it is backed by iFixit's lifetime warranty. And if you head over
19:41 to ifixit.com/Linus linked in the video description and use offer code lionus,
19:46 you can save five bucks off of your purchase. So, uh, that should help you
19:51 out a little bit. I mean, this kit pays for itself after you pay one person to
19:57 repair one thing. So, totally worth it. I love
20:00 it. Two
20:06 screws. Hey. Hey. Just like that, ladies and gentlemen.
20:11 Who am I kidding? There's no ladies watching. Um, all right. So, there's a
20:15 couple things I'm gonna have to do before I can properly remove
20:21 this. So, this
20:24 um Ah, dang it. I need a flathead. I
20:28 need a flathead. There we go. Okay, so
20:32 this and wireless antenna needs to pop off as does this one. So, it looks like
20:37 MSI has
20:40 um put their antenna. Oh, interesting. Oh, there's
20:45 another thing I'm going to have to remove over here. Hold on. Sorry, guys.
20:49 It's kind of hard to It's kind of hard to grab onto now without mashing
20:52 something important. So, uh there's another little fragile connector over
20:56 here that I've got to remove. So, they've put their antennas
21:00 in the in the in the roof here. And then
21:04 we actually also get to have a look at where the fan for the top. So this is
21:08 the one fan that cools the whole thing. So we can have a look at where that fan
21:12 is plugged in as well. This uh right right there. Hoping I'm getting you guys
21:16 a good look at it. But uh sometimes I just have to kind of hope for the Oh.
21:20 Oh, interesting. Okay. What we also have here Wow, there's like four leads to
21:23 this thing. Jeez. What we also have here is the power for that MSI Dragon logo
21:30 that they're so uh so fond of putting on things. So, hold on. Where's my
21:34 flathead? There we go. Come on. Come on,
21:37 baby. Come on, baby. There you go, baby.
21:41 Just Just get off there. Okay. Perfect. All right. So, we've got Jeez,
21:48 no. There's even more than I thought. Okay. All right. Let's have a closer
21:51 look at this bad boy. So, we've got what
21:54 looks like uh four wires for the PWM fan
21:58 custom connector. We've got one wire for antenna. There's actually a metal metal
22:03 housing around this thing. They are they are serious about this fan here. Holy
22:08 crap. Okay, we've got another wireless antenna over on the other side. They've
22:12 got those nice and separated. We've got whatever the crap this is. That's
22:18 another four pin. What is that
22:22 for? I will confess to you that I do not
22:25 know because I don't see anything else up here. There's just the fan and the
22:32 other side of the fan. So, we've got power for the LED. We've got Oh, hold on
22:38 a second. No, I see what it's for. So, this is just a cable management. This is
22:42 just running over to that um that duad
22:45 that we connected from the side panel if I recall correctly. All right. So, that
22:49 that takes care of of everything that that is. All right. So, let's go ahead and catch up on my uh catch up on my
22:53 labeling here. So, this was Oh, crap.
22:57 What was this from? Um, okay. Top
23:03 fan. Top fan.
23:07 Uh. Um. Uh. Bottom IO. There we
23:14 go. I assure you that when I'm not broadcasting live, I am much more
23:18 organized about this type of thing. As you guys can probably imagine, it is a
23:23 lot of things to focus on to be disassembling a computer, broadcasting a
23:27 live stream, and trying to keep track of uh you know, all of the strange
23:31 creatures that are inhabiting your building that you that you work in every
23:36 day. All right, so the next thing we see here is that yes, I was indeed correct.
23:43 Uh this back piece right here is being held on by this uh looks Yeah, it's a
23:48 metal brace that is securing it to a few
23:51 different things. So there's the power
23:54 supply. Uh here let me get that centered in the frame for you guys. So there's
23:59 the power supply, there's the GPU heat sinks, CPU heat sink, and then this
24:03 looks like the main like motherboard. I
24:07 mean main board is also a word for motherboard. Don't stress. So, but this
24:12 Yeah, it's not actually secured to that. So, the power supply is secured to the
24:15 main board. And then this rear daughter board is secured to the power supply as
24:20 are the others. So, there's these L brackets that kind of go like this and
24:24 like that. So, the first thing I'll need to do is remove this one. Hi, can I help
24:30 you? Are you streaming this? Yeah. Well, you didn't tweet out that you're live. I
24:33 didn't? No. Oh. Uh, can you do that?
24:36 Thank you. Oh crap. I left my
24:40 screwdriver at home, my orange ones. So, I'm actually a little bit
24:45 ill equipped.
24:49 Okay. Wow, those are really tight. Let's go ahead and pull that
24:58 out. Okay, there we
25:03 go. I see someone saying shoes are optional in the Atlantis Media Group
25:07 office. Actually, that's not true. Uh, shoes are required to be taken off
25:12 unless you have your indoor shoes here. So, some people leave indoor shoes at
25:16 the office and other people just don't wear shoes, which is their their choice.
25:21 Personally, I'm not into the whole no shoe thing because there's only one type
25:24 of footwear I need. Okay, so this baby
25:29 has looks like three ribbon cables, each
25:33 of which are are cleverly labeled, which is helpful, I guess. Let me see if I can
25:37 get you guys a better look at that. There you go. So, you got your L, you got your R, you got your
25:43 the
25:48 K1C_1026026_H39, whatever the devil that's supposed to mean. So, let's go
25:52 ahead and flip these up.
25:55 Flippity. That one's not a flip up one. Hold on. Where's my flathead?
25:59 Technically, I should be using a plastic flathead for this. It's okay. Don't worry. I'm a professional. Okay. And
26:05 then this one right here is not actually the same type. This is one of those one
26:09 of those push down on it ones. So I'm gonna have to lift
26:14 lift. Oh crap. It is one of those. Well, hopefully it's only a
26:19 little broken. How the crap. Oh, okay. Yeah,
26:23 seems fine. Cool. All right. So, let's give
26:26 you guys a good look at this. So, back here you've got actually a lot of a lot
26:31 of action going on. Like there's a mini PCIe card over here.
26:35 which would be fairly baffling to me if
26:41 I wasn't looking at their again very handily and cleverly labeled ribbon
26:45 cables here. So, this one says PCH. So,
26:49 that's for the platform controller hub. That means that the the south bridge,
26:53 the traditional south bridge is actually on this
26:58 daughterboard. So, this is really clever for a number of reasons. Uh, number one
27:03 is that it means that they don't have to
27:07 they don't have to try and use extensions for all of this high-speed IO
27:11 back here. Like we've got four USB 3 ports, 2 GB Ethernet, two HDMIs, um, oh,
27:18 it looks like all the display stuff is down there. Okay, so that's B and and
27:21 audio. So that's basically what we've got back there. So, instead of having
27:25 all that stuff, instead of having the Southbridge, which handles all of those
27:29 things, let me think, not HDMI, unless
27:32 it's using Intel's onboard video in some way. Don't quote me on that. Do not
27:38 quote me on that. I'm actually not sure why those HDMI ports are there, but all
27:44 that other stuff would be handled by the PCH. So, by just having what would
27:49 effectively be traces inside the PCB of
27:53 a motherboard just be done through a ribbon cable like this, MSI has removed
27:58 all of that stuff and they were able to make use of a tiny little bit of space
28:02 inside the chassis. So, you can see here it's just this this bit of space right
28:07 here that lives over top of the CPU heat sink that they otherwise would not have
28:11 been able to or they would have had to run extensions which could have interfered with that high-speed IO. So
28:16 really very cool. Um, let's continue our let's
28:21 continue our look at this baby. So what else do we got going on here? Oh yeah,
28:24 there's a 2 and a half inch hard drive in here. That's another thing that would
28:28 also be on the PCH. So that's where your SATA ports come off of. So again,
28:32 instead of running a SATA cable internally, they've actually just got
28:35 this guy. Uh, is that just like hardline
28:38 plugged in? Where is the port? What the hell?
28:51 What is going on
28:55 here? Oh, is it this? Shut
29:01 up. Oh, very cool. So, what they've
29:04 actually done here, and I guess we might as well Yeah, I did. I did say I was
29:08 going to take this thing apart, so let's take it apart. I'll I'll show you guys exactly what they did here.
29:12 Um, again, more more clever more. Wow,
29:16 that's that's this one's this one's really cool. Haven't actually seen this
29:20 before. Even in laptops, uh, you'll typically just have like a like a
29:25 standard a standard SATA cable plugged into a plugged into the back of a
29:30 standard SATA drive. And and when we dig deep enough, that is what we're very
29:34 likely to find
29:37 here, but with a twist.
29:43 Okay, so the hard drives Hitachi 1 TBTE
29:48 7200 RPM SATA 6 GB and uh am I going to
29:52 need to remove a whole another set of screws in order to get it this bad boy?
29:55 What do we got here? Yep. Okay, there they are. More hard drive screws. Don't
29:59 worry though, guys. For you, I will take this as far as I need to.
30:07 Messiah is not going to tell me I can't take apart their computer. Freaking
30:12 guys. Okay. See if we can slide this
30:20 off. Yeah, there we go. So, this slides out now, which gives us a look at this
30:25 actually very clever little system that they've got here. So, they have
30:29 converted all of the uh Hold on. I'm just going to check my focus. There we
30:33 go. So, they have converted the standard SATA power and data interface into this
30:39 connector. This is that connector that I didn't recognize is actually for the
30:43 hard drive. Very cool. All right, so we've extracted that at this point.
30:47 Let's label my hard drive screws. H
30:51 D. Boom. Oh crap. What were these? Ah,
30:55 yes. L bracket. I'm sure someone will be able
30:59 to read that at some point. Okay.
31:03 So, that leaves us pretty much done here. Oh, yeah. No, no, we're not. Okay,
31:08 this is cool, too. So, the other thing on the PCH, this is so clever. I like
31:13 it. Uh, the other thing on the PCH is four PCI Express lanes that are handled
31:18 by the Southbridge. So, there's the uh the DMI whatever something media
31:23 interface. So, that's that's the traditional that's replacement for the
31:26 um for crap, I forget what they used to call the link between the north bridge
31:30 and the south bridge. Uh was it FSB?
31:34 Can't remember. Anyway, um so most of the PCIe lanes in a modern Intel CPU run
31:40 off of the CPU itself, but it's also got the DMI interface to the chipset that
31:46 has four PCIe lanes effectively running off of it. So that's how we were able to
31:51 have a mini PCIe Wi-Fi card sitting over
31:55 here on this daughterboard. So everything that's on here is stuff that
31:59 runs off the PCH. And I'm not expecting then to find anything that runs off of
32:03 the PCH anywhere else inside the system.
32:07 Uh oh, I never did figure out what that So, one of them, yeah, one of them is
32:10 labeled uh PCH and the other one is labeled PC. No, they're both labeled
32:14 PCH, actually. Very cool. I love
32:17 that. Hopefully, I didn't completely misinterpret what they did here, but I I
32:21 don't I don't think so. All right, now we are really getting
32:26 somewhere. So, the first thing I'm going to do is remove the rest of these uh
32:30 these brackets here. Don't want them. I don't need
32:38 them. I go,
32:46 girlfriend. Wow. Lot of lot more screws than I had sort of anticipated. That's
32:50 okay. I will change the angle to mix things up for you guys. I'm just showing
32:54 off at this point. I love this three camera setup actually. This makes it so
32:59 much easier for me to just work as opposed to trying to tinker around with
33:06 stupid stuff like uh oh well let me grab my webcam and oh now I only have one
33:10 hand to actually do things while I'm trying to show you guys something
33:13 stupid. Um one thing I don't like about
33:17 this setup that you guys actually I don't think can see in any of the angles
33:22 um actually maybe you can see it in this one. Let me see. Yeah, this uh this
33:27 wireless Bluetooth keyboard that I'm using to change scenes, it's broken in
33:31 the weirdest way. Um something about the power delivery is
33:36 broken on it. So, we even tried replacing the battery. That didn't fix it at all. So, it won't hold a charge.
33:40 It won't operate um it won't operate on
33:44 on battery at all. Even with a brand new one, even with one charged in our other
33:50 identical unit, like if the battery is charged up, that doesn't help. And get this, and people are going to call BS on
33:55 this, and I don't blame you because I would too. It only works if it's plugged
34:00 into the wall. I cannot plug it into a battery bank. Not even a good battery
34:04 bank. Not even a 2 amp battery bank. Doesn't matter. I must plug it into the
34:09 wall in order for it to operate at all.
34:12 And that's actually one delayed the stream by another 5 minutes or so
34:15 because I accidentally unplugged it, which unpairs it, and then it kind of
34:19 flakes out. So, I had to I had to completely restart everything. Re-plug
34:23 in the Bluetooth dongle, re undo the Anyway, um yeah, so I have to like I
34:29 that's why the the connector is taped in there. Um it would be really nice if I
34:33 was able to have a wireless one like I use for the main set, but that one's paired to our our camera, so I I have
34:38 not done that. Okay, so all those brackets are off, but that doesn't seem
34:44 to help us much. Maybe I'll leave it to
34:47 you guys. Do you want to see Do you guys want to see Yeah,
34:52 everyone's calling BS on me. I don't even care. Um, do you guys want to see
34:55 the CPU off first or the GPU off? No. You know what? I don't think I'm going
34:59 to get the CPU off first. So, forget it. It's a lie. Fine. Let's stick with this.
35:05 The right side or the left side? Come
35:08 on, guys. Right side. Left side. Right
35:12 side. Left side. Right side. Left side.
35:15 Which one you want? Right or left? Damn, I hate this uh stream delay.
35:21 Everyone's asking for the CPU. Damn, I hate Twitch chat. I'm just going to pick
35:26 one. You guys are so useless sometimes.
35:29 Um I love you dearly, but man, are you guys useless sometimes.
35:33 Uh such trolls. Such trolls. So, let's
35:37 go ahead. I'm going to start removing GPU screws here.
35:43 Everyone calling for the bottom. Free the bottom. Wow. Was that
35:49 it? Hold on a second. Where? Which screws hold this
35:54 in? It's actually very hard for me to tell. Okay, so this is interesting.
35:59 Ouch. I'm going to cut myself on one of these heat sinks for sure. So, aside
36:03 from the screw holding it in, I don't know how well you guys can see this. And you know what? I could zoom this
36:08 actually.Oop boop. Yeah. Oh man, I love
36:12 this setup. Okay. So, there we go. Get
36:15 that focus. Come on, baby. Come on,
36:18 baby. Nice. So, there's the screw I just
36:21 removed uh right there with the uh the copper visible around it. Right next to
36:25 it is a little tab that actually keeps you from sliding the GPU out, even if
36:30 you do have the screw removed. So, I'm going to be have to be really careful with this to make sure that I get not
36:35 only all of the screws, but also all of
36:38 the little tabs that go with them.
36:44 H sorry guys, I'm going to have to stall for time because I'm the most stumped
36:50 that I have been so
36:53 far. Which doesn't mean stumped to be very clear. That does not mean stumped.
37:00 You know what? I think what I actually need to do here is remove this
37:06 entire black PCB in order to get at the
37:11 module that holds the MXM, the green MXM uh graphics
37:21 card. So, let's have a look
37:28 here. Mhm.
37:32 That looks pretty loose. Let's go ahead and try popping it
37:38 off. Nothing to really brace myself on,
37:41 unfortunately. Okay, not stressful at
37:44 all. I mean, it's only a what, $4,000 computer? No big deal. One more screw.
37:50 Oops. Didn't see that one. Her derp.
37:55 Okay. Come on, baby.
37:58 Don't tease me like that. Oh, I've got a ribbon cable here.
38:03 Oh, shoot. What is that connected to? Oh, we got some ribbon cable action. So,
38:10 oh. Oh, it's an SLI bridge. Interesting.
38:15 Okay. Well, that makes sense. I mean,
38:18 that was bound to be in there. I really thought NVIDIA was going to drop the
38:24 whole SLI bridge pretense at some point here.
38:27 They still claim that there's some high-speed communication that they do
38:31 over it, but that interface is really not very fast by modern standards. Um, I
38:38 mean, we're talking SLI bridge came about back in the PCI Express
38:43 1.0A or whatever days, back in the back
38:47 in the age of the dinosaur when I was a computer
38:52 enthusiast. All right? because, you know, the internet would
38:56 have you believe that I am no longer an enthusiast. I've lost my touch, you
39:00 know. Whoops. Oh, I'm sorry about that. If people get motion sick, I'm sure
39:04 they're motion sick now. Okay, so let's try and pop this other PCB off. See if
39:08 we can remove both graphics cards at the same time, which is funny because that's what some of the trolls in Twitch chat
39:11 were telling me to do. I hate it when they're right. That's the worst. Hold
39:16 on. I need a plastic prying tool. I'm actually going to do this one properly
39:20 because um I'm a little bit worried about what I'm prying on
39:28 here. Shoot. There we go. All
39:32 right. Okay. Okay. So, let's pull those
39:38 graphics cards off. Oh, there we go. Oh, thing of
39:43 beauty. Wonderful. So, let's put the base aside for a
39:49 second here. Just going to put this over here. Oh, they fell. Okay. Um Okay,
39:56 let's investigate.
39:59 Ah. Mhm. Damn it. They scratched my
40:03 laptop.
40:14 Well, things I do for you guys. All
40:17 right, so I really don't know if I'm going to go
40:23 to the trouble to remove that SLI bridge.
40:27 Um, I mean, unless you guys peer pressured me into it, then we'll then we
40:32 would we would see. But let's have a look at first the more boring of the
40:37 two actually. Oh, what the hey. Let's just let's just keep tearing, shall we?
40:43 Okay, so first I need to label these screws I took out. So, um, these are for
40:48 the GPU daughter
40:53 boards. All right. All right. All right. I'm doing it. I'm doing it. Shut up,
40:57 Twitch chat. Okay. Where do we start?
41:02 Let's start with the simpler one. So, I'll start with the one that does not
41:06 have um additional stuff on it. This one
41:11 appears to be just straight MXM
41:20 module. So, let's pull the heat sink off the GPU. That's a big beefy heat sink on
41:26 here, man. I mean, compared to what you would
41:30 normally see in a laptop, but then, you know, with how quiet the fan is, I
41:34 suspect it's not getting like a whole ton of air flow. So, let's have a look
41:38 at uh let's have a look at that heat sink, then, shall we? Check this out.
41:43 So, we've got a total of three heat pipes. It's using what appears to be a
41:47 vapor chamber down here. So, that spreads out the heat from the GPU so
41:51 that each heat pipe sort of gets an equal amount of it to disperse. Then two
41:55 of the heat pipes are connected simply to this um this thinner part of the heat
42:01 sink assembly right here with a third one dedicated to bringing heat out to
42:06 what is actually probably about I'd say
42:09 40% of the overall mass of the heat sink. Remember removing heat is
42:14 basically surface area and yeah
42:18 basically surface area. So that's probably given the identical thickness
42:21 of the material, more mass equals more surface area in this case.
42:26 Um, interesting. And you've got a little pad here for keeping the mounting
42:31 pressure even, I guess, because you got a lot of I don't know, weight here. Anyway, okay. So, that gives us a better
42:37 look at the MXM module, which unfortunately is kind of hard for me to
42:40 lift right now because they're attached by the SLI bridge, but you can see
42:44 there's your uh Oh, and I'm going to screw this up.
42:47 GM204 if I recall correctly. I can never
42:50 remember the code names. Whatever. It's a GTX 980 right there. And then around
42:55 it is actually 8 gigs of GDDDR5 memory.
43:00 So, I'm going to see if pulling off this heat spreader gives us a bit of a better
43:04 look at
43:10 that. Oh, there's another warranty void to remove sticker. Ha. Eat it.
43:17 Hey, Luke. You look stressed.
43:22 Oh, I was hoping that he wasn't stressed and that he just looked
43:27 stressed, but he was. H. So, that's not popping off very
43:33 easily. I hope I'm not going to need like a heat gun or anything. Oh, no.
43:38 There it goes. Boom. Okay. So, let's get
43:41 you guys a good look at that. So, you go. There's all your There's all your
43:45 thermal pads. Pretty much this entire
43:48 aluminum heat spreader is covered in thermal pad
43:53 material. Um, you can see what it's for. So, what
43:58 would normally be a massive, you know, 10 and 1/2 in graphics card with a
44:03 cooler this thick on it is now this tiny
44:06 thing. So, I'm not sure if the memory
44:10 modules are double-sided. We're going to pull this off and we're going to find out later. But there's some of your
44:13 DDDR5 memory. There's the GPU I showed you before. And this is the VRM. So
44:18 that's the power delivery. Now,
44:22 normally, huh, that's interesting. Yeah. Normally in a desktop computer, it looks
44:27 like I'm going to need a special tool for this socket
44:33 tool. No, I need a bigger one.
44:38 Normally in a desktop computer, a GTX 980 class card would have um an external
44:43 PCI Express power connector, but here everything seems to
44:48 come from the MXM slot. I don't know much about MXM, like
44:53 I don't know if it has additional power pins or anything like that. Um but here,
44:59 so I'll try and give you guys as good a look at this as possible. There you
45:04 go. There you go. The SLI connector is
45:08 free, which gives us a great look at uh
45:12 I'm going to bore you guys first. So, here here's the MXM
45:17 slot. Here is what appears to be a PCI
45:20 Express 16X slot that is leading over to
45:24 the uh the bottom PCB, which we'll get to later in the main uh in the main sort
45:29 of well bottom of the chassis. Okay, so this is this is the daughterboard that
45:34 has one job and that is you can actually see there's no traces here really like
45:38 there's almost nothing going on here. Um, so it has pretty much one job to
45:43 take PCI Express 16X and turn it into pretty much PCI Express 16X. So this
45:49 card, uh, here I'm just going to spread these
45:53 out. So this card has to be much more power efficient than a desktop GTX 980
45:58 would be. All right, let's have a look at the
46:02 back. Yes, this Wow, this is a really I mean I know some of the weight is this
46:07 heat spreader that's still on the back, but this is a very heavy
46:11 um heavy PCB. There's a lot of lot of
46:16 copper. You'll never catch me
46:20 copper. All
46:24 right, there is no way I'm going to be able to put this back together. I'm not
46:28 paying close enough attention.
46:32 Oh well, it is what it is. So, more thermal
46:36 pads. There we are. More heat spreader.
46:40 And it turns out that yes, indeed you
46:44 do. There is more memory on the
46:48 back. Oh, more VRM junk, too.
46:51 Interesting. Brandon, you ever seen a GTX 980 this big? Oh, that is really
46:56 small. Yeah. That's what she said. Impressive. Small,
47:00 but powerful and impressive.
47:04 All right. So, let's put that baby over there. And do you guys really want to
47:08 see me take apart the other one? I mean, do I really have to do two of the
47:11 basically the same thing or can I just show you the differences on this one? I
47:15 think I should just show you the differences and then we'll uh Oh, sorry. I'm talking to the wrong camera. I think
47:19 I'm just going to show you the differences on this one and then move on because there's not a whole lot more a
47:25 whole lot more to it as far as I can tell. I'm just going to kind of sneak a
47:29 peek under there and see if maybe there's like some kind of a some kind of
47:34 a PCI Express hub or some kind of thing like
47:39 that that's going on, but it really doesn't look like it. Like what I do
47:42 suspect is that since this is a
47:47 Z170based system, each of these GPUs is
47:50 only running at PCIe 8X speed anyway. So
47:55 what I suspect has happened since you guys may or may not have noticed that
47:58 this one actually has two M.2
48:04 slots. There you go. So those are for PCI Express SSDs. What I suspect that
48:08 MSI has done is they have played some clever games with this not being a real
48:13 PCIe16x um electrically slot and they've just
48:18 kind of gone, okay, well, we're going to reuse a slot that we have lots of in
48:21 inventory anyway and we're going to completely rewire everything and um
48:25 we're going to have our we're going to have our PCI Express hub or our PCI
48:29 Express switch or whatever else it is that we have over somewhere else. Um,
48:34 and that is how they're able to get the bandwidth that they need to run two of
48:38 these PCI Express SSDs. Incidentally, these are what are they? Model MZ
48:47 VPV1280. Oh, S SM951. So, these are
48:50 Samsung's older NVMe drive, not the 950
48:53 Pro, the new flagship. All right, so let's go ahead
48:58 and put that aside for now. Oh, we are running out of
49:01 space. And let's get back to the main
49:04 kahuna. Let's get my fan over here. This
49:08 heat sink over here, this one over here, and this one over here. All
49:13 right, so now this doesn't have a lot of
49:16 This doesn't have a lot of structural rigidity to it, does it? I wonder if I
49:20 can just like pull the whole thing right off.
49:25 I mean, if I could, that would probably be a terrible idea, but um hey, hey, it
49:30 wouldn't be the first time I did something that was a terrible idea. All right, so let's remove the CPU heat sink
49:35 first, I
49:44 guess. Oh, good. Captive thumb screws.
49:47 Love it. Or not thumb screw, captive screws. Wow. Whoever put this thing
49:53 together really uh gave it a beating around the screw holes
49:58 here. Doesn't really seem necessary. There's a lot of There's a There's a big
50:02 opening there. Unless they had like a powered screwdriver or something that had a really short bit on it and they
50:07 were kind of trying to mash it in there. That's probably what happened
50:12 actually. Okay, so there you
50:16 go. We are There's not a whole lot of surface area to this. You can see
50:20 actually, and this is true of the GPU heat sinks as well, you can see that MSI
50:25 intends to keep the air flow going through the system quite uh quite low.
50:31 So, they're counting on keeping the RPM of the fan low, but the overall air flow
50:36 high enough to to cool these things very quietly. If you have a heat sink that's
50:40 optimized for high RPM, high static pressure fans, it's going to have a much
50:44 more dense fin arrangement than this one. So, um, yeah, MSI is just kind of
50:50 going for gold here with what for a a 6700K is actually a very, um, small heat
50:58 sink. So, they're they're really counting on that fan to be very, very
51:01 efficient. Um, also here, so we've got
51:04 the 6700 K that I just mentioned. I'm not going to take that out. You guys
51:07 have seen me take out a CPU a million times. I'm not going to not going to
51:10 bother risking damaging any of the pins or anything. Uh, but you can see here
51:14 we've got the VRM for the motherboard. We've got, um, I'm going to have to
51:19 figure out where power goes in at some point. Here we've got what looks like
51:23 another physical PCI Express 16x slot
51:27 right here. We've got Oh, cool. So,
51:30 we've got the other end of that PCH ribbon cable right here. So, that's what
51:35 is taking the Yep. So, you can actually see the traces here. It looks like Oh,
51:41 hold on. Maybe not.
51:45 Shoot. Sorry, I'm not sure. I thought this was the DMI interface coming off
51:49 the CPU and coming down to here, but I could be wrong. Don't quote me on that.
51:53 So, what's interesting here though is anything mounted on this board would
51:57 have to be attached directly to the CPU. So, the CPU has the U memory controller.
52:02 So that's why your four sodium memory modules, in this case they're each 8
52:06 gigs, giving us a total of 32 gigs, are going to be uh connected directly to the
52:11 CPU. And then the other thing is the PCI Express controller. So that's where that
52:17 comes in down there. Then DMI. So yeah,
52:21 there's pretty much actually nothing nothing on there because the PCH is what
52:26 has all your USB, your SATA, your Ethernet, and all that kind of nonsense.
52:32 Cool. I hope this is as interesting for you guys as it is for me because I'm
52:36 having a blast. Actually, this is what I wanted to do back at CES and they
52:40 wouldn't let me. The bastards. Um, oh
52:43 crap. Oh, this was bound to happen eventually. Where are these screws from?
52:47 Oh, they're from the GPU. So, let's label that
52:52 MX M. Boom. All right. So top down view
52:57 is actually probably good for you guys right now because it gives us some idea of what's going on with this. So this
53:02 looks like a support brace for the power supply and no it's it's no no that's the
53:08 support brace for those other two. Ah I see uh for those other two daughter
53:12 boards that have the GPUs on them. So I think we actually have to take it
53:18 apart in order to pull them off and then they should slide out for us.
53:26 Oh, two
53:38 screws. Where's all the green stuff you promised? Hey, this computer has NVIDIA
53:43 graphics cards in it. I'm staying true to my
53:47 word. All right, so there's those guys giving us a
53:53 really good look at the power supply. So, chickeny power technology
53:58 uh DC output 457 watt. Huh. Just like
54:03 that. Eh, 37.5 amps on the 12vt
54:07 rail. But how do you plug
54:10 in? Well, let's find
54:15 out. This explains why the power connector is on in the middle of the
54:19 bottom like it is though, which is
54:23 interesting because that's where the power supply is. It's right up the
54:27 middle of the
54:32 unit. Poor MSI. I am definitely not putting this
54:36 back together. Far too many
54:42 screws. Oh, okay. Okay, we just got to look at the uh there's the ground for
54:47 the
54:50 chassis. So, that's going to be connected to the uh the ground prong of
54:54 the power plug that we will eventually
55:02 find. Someone in the chat just spelled a wrong. Can we ban that guy? Just like
55:07 that. A like like capital A. It's
55:11 spelled eh actually. All right. Sorry. I'll cut back to the angle that shows us
55:16 anything cool here. Um,
55:20 okay.
55:25 Interesting.
55:32 So, yeah, I'm going to need uh I'm going
55:35 to need some clever cleverness here, which is unfortunate because I don't
55:39 have a lot of that. So, I gota I've got
55:42 to hit this clip. Hopefully, I can give you guys a better look at this. Let's have a Let's see if we can. Okay. So, in
55:49 there, I've got kind of like a like a computer power supply type connector.
55:54 Hopefully, you guys can see that. So, I've got to press this clip while pulling on it to get
56:00 the Oh, well, that was easy. Okay. So,
56:04 there. So, these are the There's the AC
56:07 power in. So that's just wired up directly to that plug in the middle. And
56:13 then there's the third prong. So that's uh that's the ground wire going to the
56:17 chassis. Just like that. All
56:21 right. Then this is interesting. the whole
56:27 power supply. And this like I'm sure the
56:31 electrical engineers watching this are going to be,
56:35 you know, snickering at me or whatever, but this blows me
56:40 away. Uh, hold on. You know, no, I'm going to I'm going to do one more thing
56:43 before I talk about it, though, because it looks like it is actually finally
56:47 time to take
56:50 off the main board. So, I'm just going to pull out this PCH connector here.
56:56 And oh no, I got to undo that
57:08 ground. Oh, shoot. And I gota actually I should do a round of labeling, too. What
57:12 the hell is all this stuff? Um, PSU PSU as far as I can
57:19 remember. Uh, ground
57:25 Okay. So, back to that angle. Oh. Oh,
57:29 ball sack. Okay. Well, now there's another thing I have to undo. I got to
57:33 do these two screws right here, I think. Although, I may only have to loosen
57:36 them. I might even have to take those out. It looks like they just prevent it
57:40 from sliding forward. Nope. No. I'll just pull them
57:45 out. Okay. Oh, no. Those weren't from the
57:49 power supply. These were from the
57:54 PSU. Whoops.
57:59 Bracket. Boom. And then these are from
58:03 the motherboard
58:09 support base.
58:12 Okay. Okay. For real this time. Here we
58:17 go. So, there it is. That is the closest
58:22 thing that this device has to a mainboard. So, it's got a skeleton
58:27 uh back plate thing here that's actually attached to the main board with the uh
58:32 the socket hold down screws. So, that's these screws right here that actually
58:37 keep the the socket cover on. I have never seen that before. So, that's
58:42 different. A lot of stuff about this thing that's different. Um, these are
58:45 the hinges that those two uh they make a
58:50 triangle here. So, they they come out like this that the two support braces
58:53 for the GPUs attach to. And then uh there's that PCH connector that I was
58:58 trying to show you guys before, but it's kind of hard with it attached to the base. And uh yeah, very cool. And
59:06 there's that. See, it looks just like a standard graphics card connector PCI
59:10 Express 16x. But of course, you know, a connector is just a physical connector.
59:14 A wire is just a wire. So, they can rewire it for whatever they want if
59:17 they're going to if they're going to go full custom on something like this.
59:22 Okay, which leads us to the thing that blew my mind a second ago when I was
59:27 talking about the power supply. And this this runs sort of, you know, everyone's
59:31 trying to sell us on, you know, um like
59:34 PCI Express 8pin connectors have always been something that have kind of baffled
59:39 me because I'm looking at it going, "Okay, so it's rated for I forget what
59:43 the numbers are, but it's like 275 watts now versus 150 watts TDP or
59:49 whatever the numbers are. It's like significantly more. Like a PCIe 8 pin is
59:53 rated to deliver significantly more power than a six pin." I'm looking at it going, all you've done is add two
59:58 grounds. You didn't actually add another
60:02 12vt wire. And I mean, my understanding
60:05 of the capacity of a connection to carry
60:08 DC current is that it pretty much comes down to the gauge of the wire and how
60:13 many of them there are. Um, and so in the desktop, we're trying to be
60:17 convinced all over the place that we need these like massive power supplies
60:20 and like the all these like massive wires and all these connections. And then I'm sitting here looking at this
60:25 going like, are you kidding me? This is the only connection between
60:32 the 457 watt power
60:37 supply. That's it. This is the only connection and the entire rest of the
60:42 system. this connector. This I'm going to zoom in so
60:48 you guys can grasp the full the full amaze ballsness of what I'm showing you
60:52 right now.
60:56 This if I could focus on it that would be great. Thanks camera. I hate
61:04 you. Um well maybe if I zoom out a little bit
61:08 more. Sometimes it has trouble focusing.
61:12 Can you focus? I'm trying to make a point here. There we go. This powers the
61:20 entire system. Everything. 12volt rail, 5vt rail, 3.3
61:26 volt rail, all the grounds, all the GPUs, the CPU,
61:30 everything. Does the whole thing. How is that? How is that even
61:37 possible? So, there you go.
61:42 which leaves us finally with the base.
61:46 Um, and this pretty much just acts as like a as like a traffic traffic control
61:52 station. Uh, so you can see we've got
61:55 the the power just comes through there.
61:58 Okay. Power goes in here. So this is what routes power to this PCIe 16x
62:04 physical interface, this 16x physical interface, and this 16x physical
62:09 interface. This goes off to the CPU and then this goes off to the two GPUs. One
62:13 of them goes to that M.2 slot. Um, and then you've got all these little ribbon
62:18 connectors that go to a bunch of places that I forget now because it's been a
62:21 long time since I started doing this. Uh, which I guess kind of concludes our
62:25 stream. So, thank you for tuning in to
62:29 this complete tearown of the MSI Vortex
62:33 G65. I hope you guys enjoyed it. But if you didn't, of course, you can dislike
62:37 the video. That is to say if you're watching it on YouTube later. But if you did, you can like the video, you can get

62:58 we go on the road very often, although I did recently. I went to New York, so that was on the road and I did do show
63:03 things there. And now I've kind of lost track of what I was talking about. I have a standard outro and I Right. Yes,
63:08 we have other videos you can watch. Maybe check out our last live machine
63:11 disassembly where I did the seven gamers one CPU machine which we will hopefully
63:15 have linked up there on the YouTubes. Thanks for watching guys and I will see
63:18 you again next time. See if this hotkey
63:22 works.
