0:00 the Oculus touch controllers are finally here which means that the rift can
0:04 finally and more properly compete with the HTC 5 what does this mean for the
0:10 rift and the virtual reality Community as a whole actually a lot this is a big
0:16 deal and you should be excited no matter which team you're on I'll explain why
0:21 after we take a look at the controllers themselves and the rift's experience
0:25 with the new members of the family
0:37 tunnel bear is the simple VPN app that makes it easy to browse privately and

0:45 off if you have any questions about the rift headset itself check out this video
0:50 from about four months ago reviewing the rift without the touch controllers just
0:55 by itself not much has changed on the headset side of things other than well
0:59 the inclusion of the sensor that comes with the touch controllers but I'll talk
1:03 about tracking and occlusion later on
1:06 for now controller ergonomics and the degree to which you can have hand
1:11 presence in VR the touch controllers just feel amazing in your hands you know
1:16 when you put your hands down on a familiar keyboard and mouse setup your
1:20 fingers and palm they just naturally form to them the fingers on your left
1:25 hand comfortably rest on W A and D because you're probably a gamer and your
1:30 right thumb Finds Its comfortable back button for efficient web browsing it
1:35 just it feels like home this is similar to the touch controller experience but
1:39 it's like that from the first time that you ever try them they're so naturally
1:44 comfortable that I rarely even need to tell people the control bindings for
1:49 games even when games don't do it themselves they just play because the
1:53 touch controllers feel like a natural extension of your hands the thumb stick
1:57 and buttons on the top of the controller feel solid the grip button on the side
2:01 of the controller is very light and feels great when you're actually trying
2:05 to hold something in the game because it fades away into the body of the
2:10 controller just so well the trigger does
2:13 leave a little to be desired in shooter games it could be described as squishy
2:18 but in other games like say the unspoken where you're casting spells it feels
2:23 great and overall I think they found a happy medium here considering other
2:27 titles on the platform like well medium
2:30 which isn't combat focused at all I personally think that they found the
2:35 right balance wrapping up the physical Impressions the touch controllers are
2:39 also very light which can be a good or bad thing depending on what experience
2:43 you're in they've got this really cool magnetic release cover for the single
2:47 ablea battery per controller which seems to last about 30 freaking hours which is
2:52 more than any reasonable person could possibly need in one play session not a
2:57 challenge by the way not a
3:02 Challenge and finally easily one of the most interesting features is the
3:07 capacitive touch that is seemingly everywhere that your hand will actually
3:11 be even the thumb stick this makes it so that the controller not only knows how
3:16 far down you're pulling the trigger but whether or not your hand is on it at all
3:21 or any other part of the controller for that matter which makes it so that you
3:25 can do more complex hand gestur like pointing waving thumbs up up or even the
3:30 crowd favorite giving someone the finger
3:33 this is more important than it seems at first as it deepens your immersion in VR
3:38 makes you feel more connected to your character which matters a lot now don't
3:43 get me wrong here the vi wands were great and they came out like eight
3:47 months before the touch controllers this gave Vive users the greater part of a
3:52 year to enjoy hand presence in VR before Oculus even showed up to the damn party
3:58 but now they're here and they're better but that being said valve hasn't been
4:03 asleep for 8 months either they've been working on their own prototype
4:06 controllers that ditch the doughnut formation on top for a sensor bar that
4:10 wraps around the back of your hand this
4:13 is a very early demo But it includes things like the halfway closed hand and
4:18 various other hand gestures that we saw on the touch controllers also included
4:23 in the box with the touch controllers is an additional sensor so if you've bought
4:27 the headset and the controller separately you now have two so that means that in
4:32 Oculus recommended desk Mount configuration you can move around a
4:37 little bit but you can't really turn around they also support 360° tracking
4:43 with two controllers but they don't recommend that you stand while trying it
4:48 and you just put the sensors in opposing Corner configuration but for the best
4:53 experience a third sensor purchased separately is recommended then you can
4:58 stand and turnar around radical the
5:02 superior three sensor configuration will get you to a play Space of 8.2x 8.2 ft
5:08 by comparison the VI's maximum tracking area is 11.5 ft x 11.5 ft or 15 x 15 if
5:15 you go with Allen Yates now assuming you have the space for it and can drill into
5:19 your walls or find some other solution the Vive out of the box is still a
5:24 better experience than the rift tracking wise that being said there is content on
5:29 line with people showing off that four Rift sensors works very well if you've
5:35 got an additional $80 uh beyond the already 80 extra dollars that you've
5:39 paid for the third one so for the first time ever I feel like I have both the
5:44 finished Vive and the finished Rift with which to craft a conclusion there are
5:49 many positives and negatives in each Direction I personally prefer the
5:53 ergonomics of the Oculus touch controllers a great deal the included
5:57 headphones on the rift are great the ergonomic ICS of the rift particularly
6:01 its lower weight are great but its tether is too short and The Vibes
6:06 tracking out of the box is considerably better you can also hook the Vive into a
6:10 backpack rig while the rift sensors need to be plugged into the USB ports of the
6:15 computer running the rift so that's not a realistic option with those trade-offs
6:20 in mind the choice is yours instead of it being a clear decision like it was in
6:24 the past I see very justifiable reasons to go with either experience and as most
6:29 people don't have massive areas that they can clear out for VR games I
6:34 suspect many will go with the rift but there's one last thing to bring up the
6:38 touch controllers are launching alongside over 50 made for VR titles a
6:43 few of which are bundled with the touch controllers which is pretty damn cool
6:47 these games were a highly controversial topic when I wrote my Rift review back
6:51 in the day where Oculus was paying developers to launch on their platform
6:55 first but the word first being key here it doesn't mean exclusive the touch
7:01 controllers finally launching is great for Rift users obviously but it's great
7:05 for Vive users as well not only because valve is trying to make theirs more
7:09 similar which is better in my opinion but because the huge group of developers
7:14 working on their games for the touch launch may be able to start developing
7:18 for Vive if you want that to happen hit your favorite game developer up on
7:21 Twitter and let them know you're interested I know I sure will verdig
7:26 gear sells racing chairs and gaming styled chairs they have two two main
7:29 racing lineups as well as their new trigger series of Gaming Chairs they're
7:34 easy to assemble and they Glide smoothly on any surface they have adjustable seat
7:38 Heights and the seats themselves can be locked into five different tilted
7:42 positions their chairs are made with steel frames which helps keep the chair
7:46 stable while also keeping it lightweight most mechanical parts are covered by
7:50 leather which makes the chair easy to clean and the plus line is designed for
7:55 Comfort giving the user more space inside of the chair the S line is
7:59 smaller and more ergonomic you can check them out in the link in the video
8:03 description thank you guys for watching it's an exciting time for VR even though
8:07 most people are off the bandwagon but I understand that if you like the video
8:10 like it if you dislike the video dislike it get subscribed comment down below and
8:15 uh hit us up on the Forum where you can talk to other people that aren't YouTube
8:18 commenters about things and stuff which
8:22 is a phrase that lonus absolutely hates stuff and things I think is more
8:25 specifically what he hates I kept it out of the main body of the video I brought
8:29 it up in the conclusion it's fine don't worry about it down below you can go to
8:32 Amazon and buy some stuff including a shirt like # out of ideas this is
8:37 possibly uh my favorite shirt out of like all the ones we've made so far if
8:41 you want to watch another video check out this one it is my Rift review just
8:44 the headset that I mentioned earlier in this very video and I will see you next
