0:00 welcome to the wen show we have a great show for you guys today
0:05 which is good because we're you guys have been waiting so very long for it to
0:09 start not the youtube audience um we've got a special guest with us here he
0:13 can't get his webcam working but quite frankly that was the least of the issues
0:17 we had today so kyle from bitwit say hi kyle
0:32 our power is combined yeah
0:36 it is yeah late squared
0:39 oh my god we should do co-op shows called late squared apparently they
0:42 can't hear you what
0:47 wait you're not coming through on the discord your mic is muted on discord
0:52 unmute yourself on discord unmute yourself on discord just done there we
0:56 go oh oh man okay okay
1:02 i'm breathing i'm breathing now okay
1:06 so yes kyle kyle is here
1:12 trust me he's here we have topics uh topic number one is that
1:17 kyle is the first yeah person the first
1:22 creator for the Floatplane platform oh my
1:26 goodness of all time
1:29 except for Linus tech tips yeah that is not though oh yeah yeah
1:36 number two
1:40 um in other news NVIDIA teases another
1:43 titan x the collector's edition we we
1:47 needed this in other news next-gen AMD epic could be equipped with
1:52 an epic 64 course we also needed that
1:56 and in other news razer announced a phone
1:59 for gamers we needed that too i am going
2:02 to roll the intro what we really needed is wow classic servers no i'm really
2:08 officially on blizzard i'm rolling the intro yes i knew he was good i'm so
2:12 excited okay i'm rolling in
2:17 okay um it's weird cause i can't say battle.net
2:21 anymore because that's not what it is it's blizzard app what blizzard just is
2:27 it's so stupid no that's terrible the launcher thing though i'm not playing
2:32 any blizzard games right now but are people actually following suit and
2:35 calling it that or people just like no [ __ ] i'm still calling it battling that i i think
2:39 they're probably like no screw it what's your profile
2:42 battle tent i think i think mostly uh people are
2:46 saying battlenet but um
2:49 i don't really know no intro music by the way oh i don't
2:54 even care yeah
2:57 that's a luxury at this point
3:02 getting the dj to work yeah i don't know how that launched the youtube video
3:06 happened because i like legit did not change that at all publish the youtube
3:09 video no i haven't oh yeah yeah i published youtube video we're good we're good we're good we're live all right
3:14 okay so apparently it's now blizzardbattle.net
3:19 they changed it again wow that's terrible and they should feel
3:24 terrible these are the only the only entity to change their name more often
3:34 oh i wouldn't say you're no longer the worst man congratulations
3:38 oh okay still okay okay so i know you said
3:43 you have to go at five the time is now
3:48 5 46 actually got to take my intermission bio break before the stream
3:52 started it's great no no it's totally fine i
3:56 mean i i don't have like anywhere to be at a specific time i'm just trying to
4:00 limit it to like a half hour so i can get other [ __ ] done
4:03 got it well so much for that uh
4:07 so do you want to talk about some other stuff because i'm sure you'd love to
4:10 talk classic wow uh NVIDIA titan uh
4:13 collector's edition actually there's a lot of really great stuff today so you want to talk some topics with us first
4:17 or you want to jump into Floatplane what do you want to do it's it's up to
4:21 you we've wasted enough of your time yes it's totally your guys's call um i
4:26 mean i guess we can start with the flow plane stuff okay that's that's news okay
4:31 cool um let's do it yeah so uh kyle is the first person to join
4:37 Floatplane and he is having the
4:41 pre-alpha experience that is for sure um how's it
4:46 going so far there it's it's it totally is pre-alpha man
4:50 like i i feel like i feel like jumping in like as the first
4:55 it's almost like i'm the first woman that any man has ever seen
4:59 they're like oh my god there's what is that we've never seen one of these
5:02 before i'm just getting like royal treatment it's it's so it's super cool and
5:07 everyone's incredibly nice um you know like when i first went in there and i
5:11 was like interacting with people and like saying oh thanks i was like replying to everyone individually and
5:16 some guy was like you know kindly was like hey you know like glad you're here
5:20 but by the way you can use like the multi multi-quote yeah that's probably
5:23 preferred and so i was like yeah sure and then like i actually tried it out i
5:26 was like yeah like what do you think of my first multi quote how did i do and
5:29 he's like well you only quoted me so it's hard to say
5:35 i feel like my grandpa on facebook right now um so i mean but it's but it's been
5:40 great like your community's awesome everyone's been super kind and welcoming so far so okay
5:45 well that's that's really cool that's great sweet
5:49 um okay so basically right now the way that
5:53 it works i'm just gonna i'm just gonna fire up the store here
5:57 um is if you go to this so okay
6:01 our plan was actually not to bring on
6:05 other creators
6:09 for poorly so it was just me you created Floatplane just for bit with no no
6:14 no definitely untouched um luke just hasn't slept a lot
6:24 to be fair no one on the Floatplane team really has so um
6:28 because the plan for Floatplane was to bring other creators on
6:33 sometime after Linus media group properties had been
6:37 live on the new site for some time yeah
6:41 oh yeah so like like a while from yeah so like potentially other creators were
6:46 still four to six months out in terms of a realistic timeline and it
6:51 was like okay
6:55 that was kind of the uh you know if i was if i was Floatplane's child i was
7:00 i was definitely the mistake child yeah you were the premature the first one
7:04 being the first person yeah yeah um so basically and i think
7:08 you can partially blame youtube for that right well yeah off all the paid
7:11 channels as of two days ago and as far as i know i'm like one of the only if
7:16 not the only tech uh youtuber that actually had a paid channel on youtube's
7:20 platform so yeah i was really the only one to seemingly get affected by it and
7:25 that's when you guys were like hey like speaking of which we've got an
7:28 alternative that's way better uh well let's not get ahead of ourselves
7:33 well yeah we haven't seen the actual official site yet we're working on it
7:36 but we but we're working on an alternative so so how long were you
7:39 running bit with ultra as a paid channel through youtube before they just
7:44 like canned it um i want to say it's been about a year
7:50 which lines up i feel like youtube yeah i feel like youtube yeah it definitely
7:53 lines up with like how youtube works because they like to like work you up and be like hey look at all these new
7:57 features and things we added and then like it's congratulations it's your one
8:00 year anniversary we're shutting it down um so
8:04 i guess like it just kind of happened out of nowhere but yeah it's been it's been going for about a year now i
8:08 launched bit with ultra which was basically early access ad free
8:12 content um both on youtube and patreon
8:15 simultaneously because there was a huge a huge group of people who weren't able
8:19 to view paid channels on youtube based on the country apparently not all
8:23 countries are supported there so it was a huge huge just sort of ordeal i was
8:27 thinking oh you know it's not bad uploading all my content to a second
8:31 channel that's that's not too much work and then i find out that i have to
8:34 upload it to a third channel now because patreon doesn't actually have a native
8:39 uploader so i actually had to upload i had to create a third youtube channel
8:42 upload all my early access content there have it unlisted and then link it to
8:48 patreon it was just like so okay for the viewers out there
8:52 for the viewers out there that are sitting there going well gee um why why
8:56 are you an idiot why didn't you just upload the video to your bit wit channel
9:01 unlisted a week early and then give that to the patreon people and then just set
9:06 it public and hold on no no there's a legitimate reason for this whether kyle
9:10 himself is actually aware of it or not
9:13 i'm not sure but there's a real reason for this and we've observed that
9:17 algorithmically youtube doesn't entirely forget and i'm
9:23 using finger quotes for forget because youtube is uh not a sentient being um
9:29 although yeah so so far um it is a machine
9:35 that was the worst youtube does it sorry nick was doing the
9:40 stairs behind us he was walking down the stairs behind the show and he's like
9:43 he's like still in like twenty percent of the frame
9:47 i've been walking away um
9:50 so youtube doesn't entirely forget the
9:54 upload date when it does its machine learning
9:57 nonsense about you know sending out your video to
10:01 people so what's weird is like you'll upload something a week early let's say
10:06 and you'll set it public and the public like the date you see for
10:10 the video upload externally is the date you made it public but the date you see
10:15 internally in your cms is the date you uploaded it youtube still knows and what
10:20 we've observed is that leaving something sitting on the channel for some time
10:26 actually causes it to kind of rot yeah and not only just that but if you upload
10:30 something unlisted with the same name thumbnail and actual video content and
10:34 then release another one that second one will also get tanked
10:39 so and that's exactly why a lot of people were wondering like a lot of my ultra
10:44 subscribers who were you know when it was still on youtube they're like kyle why are you uploading the same video but
10:48 with a different title and thumbnail yeah it's because i was noticing as i
10:52 was getting you know getting situated with with this new model and stuff is
10:56 that like my v by video my view came just started to tank with all these
11:00 videos that were getting re-uploaded you know especially on a different channel
11:03 but still using the same metadata and things like that and then i noticed that
11:07 there was sort of an uptick once i started switching up the thumbnails and then i was like oh my god this becomes
11:11 even more work now um
11:19 to be clear to the viewers out there you know youtubers as a as a whole are not like
11:25 complaining about the hard work that we do to you know come up with a different
11:30 title for the video the second time we upload it or whatever it's just one of
11:33 those things where the honestly where it really runs into a lot of work for us is
11:38 when there's all these little different moving parts that we have to get synchronized
11:42 and then something's wrong and you have to like bail on a family dinner and go figure
11:47 out what's going on and which one you forgot and it's just having a bunch of
11:50 different moving parts when you go to publish a video is just kind of a pain
11:54 in the butt and it can also be more difficult than people realize to actually come up with
11:58 two good thumbnails and two good titles for the same video it's hard enough to
12:01 find one really effective thumbnail title let alone two
12:06 where like it's actually really good and eye-catching and grabby but also doesn't
12:10 piss off your audience for being click bait it's it's a you got you got to find that
12:14 fine line and finding two things on the fine line boy is that ever a balancing
12:18 act yeah
12:36 you know
12:43 such a gap of communication you know
12:46 what's going on behind the scenes between creator and viewers that they understand
12:55 one of my favorite things is that this whole paid channels going down thing is
12:58 on the exact to the day one year anniversary of vessel going
13:03 down is it really did you know yeah november
13:07 first notice i tweeted about it and everything november 1st was was when
13:11 vessel went down and november first was when youtube paid channels went down
13:15 internet so on the anniversary of vessel going down pay channels went
13:20 down and kyle joined full plane huh and it's also i mean because float
13:26 plane started almost to the day when vessel went down
13:29 because those two those two events were somewhat related let's say yeah um
13:34 that's also the anniversary of a Floatplane development actually starting not
13:38 quite to the day but like it was a few days earlier that's a little bit of a strong it's gray it's
13:43 gray well because there's also different stages because like the very beginning
13:46 we're like we put videos on forum you download really
13:49 um now there's like streaming can i tease things a little bit later
13:54 can we talk about it a little bit it's so janky right i know but can we just
13:58 can we just show some of the sure let's just do it okay so first first i'm going
14:03 to show the way that it actually works so kyle and i talked about this last night
14:08 one of the things that Floatplane strives to do
14:11 and the other guy that i don't know if his name is able to be public are going to slap me but yeah let's do it we'll
14:16 figure this out we'll figure this out so um so so kyle and i were talking last
14:19 night one of the things that Floatplane really wants to do is work with the creators on what's going to work best
14:24 for the platform and since kyle joined
14:27 um one of the biggest pieces of feedback
14:30 we've gotten from viewers has been like yo
14:34 right now it's three dollars for Linus media group and it's three dollars for
14:37 bit wit it would be great if we could combine those and do like a combo
14:42 purchase and so i had a call with kyle we talked it through last night i talked
14:46 to luke today and basically the conclusion that we came to is that
14:51 if we were to offer a discount we are either going to be like what it's going
14:57 to turn into is it's going to turn into trying to build a video platform
15:01 as opposed to trying to build a tool for individual creators to use
15:05 and that wasn't really the point of the platform in the first place so we crunch
15:10 some numbers and we figured out okay well what if the Floatplane platform
15:15 itself could just make some pie in the sky assumptions about bandwidth usage
15:22 being significantly lower for one person subscribed to 10 creators versus 10
15:26 people subscribed to one creator and we could just kind of absorb that out of
15:32 there and what we ended up with was a discount level that would frankly look
15:36 kind of insulting yeah and what we also ended up with was a fundamental change
15:42 to the model that we didn't really like so for us
15:45 we want to make sure that we're operating with a safe amount of margin
15:49 to keep the platform sustainable because we don't want to go down on november 1st
15:54 2018. yeah really and the other thing is that if we have
15:59 extra we have no problem giving it back but for us it's a creator
16:04 first platform and we'd love to do things like and kyla this is probably
16:08 the first time you're hearing about this but one of the things that i'd like to
16:12 do is take all of the Floatplane margin that's coming in from your first couple
16:16 of months here and then dump that into some promoted posts on facebook and
16:21 stuff like that to see if we can drive in more subscribers so that's the kind
16:25 of thing that we'd rather do versus just
16:29 you know discount a bundle of three creators by like a dollar
16:33 um so we want to make sure that any money that's coming in is going to
16:37 supporting the creators on the platform so i think we've pretty much made a final decision there uh
16:42 we're not going to offer bundles because it would really either hamper the choice
16:46 of creators in terms of the types of bundles that they want to offer
16:49 consumers or it would hamper our ability to properly develop and support the
16:54 creators and the platform so there you go there's that now let's jump into some
17:00 stuff that nobody has really seen before
17:03 oh geez okay okay actually one one more thing
17:06 this won't be the only time that i pimp this but um
17:10 it is in our best interest now for the first time ever to drive subscriptions
17:16 to another creator which is weird this is like this is like a weird awkward
17:20 position for me so i'm posting some links right now it's only awkward if you
17:24 want it to be right now you actually access bit wit through
17:29 the LTT forum so i'm going to show you guys how that looks
17:33 oh i hope which i i still have not gotten used to your admin again anytime
17:37 i like login like log it log into the Linus tech tips and like go to the store
17:41 i see Floatplane and i just see like my logo like okay
17:45 they're getting ddosed right now what's happening this this doesn't make
17:49 any sense no yeah no it's not it's not uh it's not an error that is a bit logo
17:54 on linustechtips.com super bizarre um so once you're subscribed what
17:59 happens is you'll see this Floatplane section at the top of the forum and then
18:03 you'll be able to go to bit with ultra and uh you will find um okay so right
18:10 now which which ones are early access
18:13 right now uh videos yeah
18:18 so let's see i think there's the announcement wall actually
18:23 right now there are no early access videos as far as like a week early um
18:27 there is just one that can you tell me what's coming
18:33 uh yes i can actually uh the h700i from
18:36 nzxt the new case oh cool it's like 200 freaking dollars um that's that's going
18:41 to be going up very soon um and additionally i think there's what's
18:47 the other one there's there's other stuff there's there's more good stuff coming soon
18:52 there i can't even think of it right now
18:56 that's fine that's a good enough sales pitch don't worry about it yeah yeah
18:59 it's totally great plus it'll look way better than it does on you
19:02 yeah yeah dog yeah and the secret to that is what just
19:06 like higher bit rate because a lot of people in the forum were were saying
19:10 that the 720 on your forum or on Floatplane really is
19:15 looking better and crispier than 1080p on youtube yeah so it basically it's a
19:20 bitrate thing it's more nuanced than that there's like uh how you transcode
19:24 it uh to be able to get more quality and a lower amount of bit rate and all this
19:29 kind of jazz but yeah there's some there's some special sauce going on
19:33 it does look really good yeah wow i don't even have to use my nice camera
19:37 and use my phone and it looks like like all my good stuff it's
19:41 actually kind of like what i've seen a pretty common comparison for and this is not from me
19:46 is that it's one step up kind of so 720
19:49 on ours looks sort of like 1080 on youtube 1080 on ours looks sort of like
19:52 4k on youtube yep and we haven't launched video it'll look like it
19:57 we have uh okay we are getting way ahead of ourselves
20:00 here okay the last the last time i'm gonna get ahead of ourselves today is to
20:04 show you guys what the site will not look like
20:08 oh effectively youtube.com because it's gonna be pretty different from this
20:11 right um sort of oh okay so it's not that difficult to be that different oh okay
20:16 okay cool and never mind i thought i was looking at an old version no okay the
20:19 blue top bar is gone ah because if you click on an individual
20:23 channel like if you click on Techquickie you can see how the top bar being gone
20:27 affects it more there you go ah yes okay okay cool
20:31 okay so kyle you may actually be see no you've seen this because you can log
20:35 into it so right now registration is closed you can't log into the site yeah
20:39 stop it but we are showing for the first time
20:42 what Floatplane may or may not end up
20:45 looking like yeah there's definitely going to be changes uh we're obviously
20:49 not going to have a giant razor logo in there yeah no that's just a random
20:53 placeholder image yep but there will be channel banners like this
20:57 um videos are going to be basically
21:00 the star of the show um there is going to be layout differences
21:04 though there will be layout differences and this is the videos tab so this
21:08 actually might look pretty exactly how it does now but there's probably going
21:11 to be a home tab that looks different right now it's full of placeholder
21:15 garbage like we make videos and stuff cool eh you should probably check out
21:19 Linus cat tips who put that there i i think i think that was uh Linus forzal
21:24 okay brilliant um so here's what playlists may or may
21:27 not end up looking like everything is there's a different yeah there's a different idea for those
21:32 um how close to the comment section is this
21:37 going to be hey here's a comment
21:40 post so there you go guys there's a comment
21:45 wow in real time it says how many seconds ago it was like dislike okay no
21:48 no no no no that's probably not going to continue to be a thing
21:51 hold on
21:55 real time comment counters no probably not that would bury us so fast
22:02 wow wow
22:06 um so here's some you know other videos from this particular creator so these
22:10 aren't hooked into the back end so we can't play the video right now but that's that's not a huge deal um are we
22:15 planning to have the video stay playable at the top as we scroll through the comments yeah so it's gonna stay fixed
22:20 and you'll keep scrolling and this particular screen will scroll yeah yeah
22:23 uh so like major things we need to work on right now is uh being able to
22:28 do payment stuff account creation is doing pretty okay
22:32 we're working on connected accounts so that you guys can log in with your forum
22:36 accounts that you already have for bit wood ultra and
22:39 LMG Floatplane and we'll have access to the things that you've already paid for
22:43 on the new sites you don't need to do anything and then we'll just uh
22:47 incentivize changing overpayment platforms because honestly the one we're
22:51 on right now is terrible super terrible and you should be on the new one but
22:55 we're gonna like try to have some incentives so that you want to be on the new one too um and there's yeah there's
23:00 there's there's definitely more stuff to do on the site but um that's sort of how it will look no
23:07 like crazy major changes outside of that
23:10 um oh
23:14 oh you're not streaming this okay no no i'm not sure i was like all right we're showing that okay well i was kind of
23:19 thinking why not i mean we can we can show we can show how alpha it is hey
23:23 kyle do you think we should show them the alphaness of the cms
23:27 the elvenist sorry my vocabularies
23:30 alpha beta alpha beta okay
23:34 we're gonna do it yes yes the answer is yes a thousand times yes we're gonna do
23:37 it okay everyone oh should i show the settings page too do it uh sure yeah
23:42 so this is the setting none of the other tabs work yeah unavailable
23:47 subscriptions unavailable notifications well
23:51 nothing privacy well this is super private oh yeah it is yeah
23:55 tons of security literally all the security through obscurity that's what that is
23:59 um this is what like it's pretty hilarious it's pretty hilarious
24:04 yeah all right so here's where you would like
24:09 here's where you put in the description totally non-functional but it will eventually and then over here it's like
24:13 it was like yes this is the this is exactly this is a bug yeah this is so
24:18 this is a bug this is a video that i was trying to upload like yesterday and uh
24:23 no it's stuck here no it's just stuck and i can't you can't actually do it
24:27 well the schedule change thing isn't isn't supposed to work right now yeah i know
24:44 oh well there's no reply you can edit them but you can't save any
24:48 of your chat you can save the changes on changing the
24:51 thumbnail so you know some things are there hey oh there's a
24:56 save button so look look i'm not i'm not giving you it's
24:59 only been up for like a day i'm not i'm not giving you
25:06 the point of this i haven't slept in weeks
25:11 look there's been some really good development that has happened okay
25:15 okay no there is actually so most of the work over the last year has been back
25:21 end work there's been a well infrastructure there's been a lot of
25:24 infrastructure work that's happened because guys like we are all about that back end
25:30 so check this out this should be a much more impressive demo this is kyle's uh
25:35 gtx 1070 ti video click what's cracking
25:38 people whoa did you see how fast that's going well today's video is going to be
25:42 very haphazardly thrown together because i'm short on time what else is new time
25:45 i know so apologies in advance for that but i still think the data that you're
25:49 going to be seeing today is going to excite how that's going to go down dude
25:54 um i just want to check with you yeah okay negatory okay that's good that's
25:58 good um by the way i love your profile
26:02 picture it it is literally the best screenshot
26:06 of me on the internet
26:10 i think brandon actually tweeted me he's like this is by far the best video clip
26:14 that you will ever produce in your life okay thanks thanks
26:19 for the stars anymore
26:24 now you just need to get like multiple versions of like alcohol things and have
26:28 all of them hit you in the eye at the same time
26:32 uh paul and i did a uh iron contest for awesome hardware
26:36 recently one of my personal favorites is actually
26:40 on my store right now is uh it's like sort of like a cartoon a cartoonized or
26:44 animated version of of that screenshot and it says beware of bottlenecks
26:49 oh that's that's pretty good that's not bad
26:52 that's not bad huh
26:56 i wouldn't buy one but if you sent it to me for free i might consider wearing it
27:01 how about that yeah you should but you should wear it because i feel
27:04 self-conscious wearing a shirt with my face on
27:08 awkward oh man
27:12 so anyway there you guys go i'm gonna go ahead and i'll link the store one more
27:16 time um here i'll link specifically the join
27:19 bit with ultra one uh go check it out
27:22 uh so you're doing one week early access and i think you had also promised uh
27:27 streaming even though luke and i were
27:31 pretty clear that streaming doesn't work yet um but that's the last thing that i
27:35 think luke wants to update you on live
27:38 what what you guys have been doing some testing yeah so yeah uh yeah well we've
27:44 we've done we've done some testing yeah it's been going okay there's still a lot
27:48 of work that needs to be done we're gonna be working on it tonight my little after party stream is gonna be streamed
27:52 to twitch and our own infrastructure
27:56 which is crazy um and we're gonna see how that goes and do some stress testing
28:00 aj was doing testing from like uploading to a server in
28:05 quebec and then having that
28:08 go over to the eu and then watching that stream off of an
28:13 eu edge server that was like actually doing pretty well
28:17 uh we need to get multi-resolution working we need to get a live chat uh we
28:21 need connected accounts working so that people can use their accounts to
28:24 actually talk in the live chat there's a bunch of work that still needs to be done but um yeah it's coming along
28:32 cool sounds promising all right do you guys
28:36 want to do some actual tech news i mean this was tech and it was news
28:41 tech news all right so this was originally posted
28:44 by max settings on the forum and the original article is this youtube video
28:50 from NVIDIA so everyone has to be quiet! for a second here because i think the
28:54 audience actually has sound off my laptop this week so one moment here
29:15 um it was red and green yeah so it's probably RGB
29:19 oh yeah no no it's not NVIDIA is not releasing a
29:23 red graphics card um
29:27 so they released a teaser this morning for the new titan x collectors edition
29:31 no mention of specs it does look like a new
29:35 cooler design with more lighting with a green light clearly eliminating the
29:39 vapor chamber and heatsink fin array lighting may be customizable because in
29:43 a couple frames there's a second glowing red graphics card and it also seems like
29:47 the fan could stick out from the frame with its own acrylic element
29:52 the scuttlebutt is that they could announce it at ces 2018
29:56 um considering it has a scheduled keynote at the show
30:00 i actually doubt they would tease it two months ahead of time it must be coming sooner than that
30:04 yeah i don't know kyle does the world need another titan um no i
30:10 maybe someone's gonna argue for i i don't
30:13 think we need one so what we have the titan x
30:17 the titan x pascal the titan
30:20 xp and the titan x collector's edition
30:25 like i think it's stupid but i also don't care like if someone wants to buy
30:28 it sure go ahead i don't know wait is it any is it going to perform
30:33 any different no one knows okay
30:36 it might it might just be like an upgraded shroud
30:39 i mean it is possible it could just be an RGB it's possible that this is volta based
30:45 wait oh it says titan x not titan xp though
30:52 yeah but like i think doesn't have the p yeah
30:56 oh yeah you're right 13 second video
31:00 uh looks like the lighting could be customizable
31:04 yeah there's we don't really know anything about it like it is it is
31:07 possible that this could be volta based i mean NVIDIA has had obviously working
31:11 volta hardware for months now and just because AMD hasn't given them any
31:16 compelling reason to release a better product within the price segments where
31:20 they compete with them um
31:25 here's the real question Linus is the lighting RGB
31:30 it looks like it might be theoretically yeah but but i don't see how that's the
31:33 real question i'm trying to talk about well no the architecture here that might
31:37 matter a lot see the thing is i don't know if people care about architecture
31:40 anymore as long as you've got lighting there's there's two fans for a hundred dollars that are
31:45 selling what really yeah thank you two fan
31:49 package hundred dollars what time is that
31:52 the light loops are a hundred dollars for two fans
31:55 i actually didn't know that two 140 millimeter fans of course you get the
31:59 lighter node pro or whatever the lighting node pro
32:02 which okay makes you do pretty effects and stuff but it's
32:06 still two fans for a hundred dollars i bought it like last week and did a
32:11 video on on Floatplane you bought it
32:15 it's a good video it's on Floatplane yeah he did it yeah does Corsair not like you
32:20 no they do it was i wasn't planning to do any coverage on it and then impromptu
32:24 i was like i need a video idea i'm not planned out like fine
32:29 so i was like i don't want to wait for Corsair to ship it and stuff so i'll
32:33 just buy it and pick it up the same day or whatever from new egg and did you get
32:36 some sticker shock there uh some what did you i mean did you did
32:41 you know it was gonna be a hundred dollars before you were like oh cool
32:44 i did and i thought that's what made it an interesting video because it was two
32:49 fans for a hundred dollars check them out and what's the deal it is genuinely
32:53 really good video i'm not to lie i'm not going to say why i did this but i've
32:57 seen it like six times or seven times
33:01 from beginning to end i don't think i've watched it once
33:04 i can probably quote your video
33:07 i spent a benjamin wow see
33:12 see confirmed here i got you confirmed
33:16 freaking brilliant i mean i don't know if you guys like saw the uh
33:21 that it's kind of old now but like the tempered glass RGB video was like a
33:26 stupid sketch that i did a while back yeah i actually did see that one yeah
33:29 it's like it's funny because it's it's like one of those like it's funny because true but also kind of sad
33:34 because it's true type of thing have i have played up the the RGB
33:40 enthusiasm and all that like i've had a lot of fun with it and i've played both
33:45 sides of the character i've played the the one who tries to build the anti-RGB
33:51 computer by literally painting an entire computer including the components black
33:55 i remember that one killing the motherboard in the process not a popular
33:58 video not a fine moment for the channel um
34:01 all the way to building the ultimate RGB pc including me wearing RGB shoes for
34:07 the build like we've we've gone to both ends of the spectrum here
34:11 and um pun intended i have to i have to
34:14 confess though that i like RGB like
34:18 in the sense that like i think it's cute and i think it's cool yeah but i have a
34:24 Corsair k70 RGB like their first RGB
34:27 keyboard um on my desk at home
34:31 and the thing about that particular RGB keyboard is that it defaults back to its
34:35 red except for white on wasd and the arrows color scheme every time you like
34:40 unplug it or like don't install the driver or whatever so there were a
34:44 couple times where i like bothered to set it up yeah and then i got tired of
34:48 it and for well over a year it's been read with white wasd because i just
34:53 can't be arsed well i feel like i feel like with keyboards it's a little different
34:57 because there's literally like over a hundred
35:00 little things that you can configure and customize right it's like it's like
35:05 sensory overload but i feel like if it's just more
35:08 straightforward it's like okay here's a headset or a motherboard you're not
35:12 going to have that many variations of what you can really do with it and most
35:15 people like you like you said like most people are gonna set it and forget it right like okay i like this profile i'm
35:20 gonna keep it just set it this way and it's it's that way for like the next 18
35:24 months or whatever it is so
35:28 i don't know but but at the same time like i've gotten spoiled by RGB like i
35:31 think i realized i really i don't know why everyone thinks it's me because i
35:34 had the first generation of the k70 RGB as well yeah and i was like this is
35:39 stupid i'm not going to pay x amount for just having this lighting and it can
35:44 change colors and stuff this is dumb and then like the more updated like the next
35:48 generation came out and i was like wow like the lighting's so much brighter
35:52 and it looks so much better i'm like why doesn't my stupid first generation board
35:58 right vibrant RGB lighting and i was like oh my god oh my god i like RGB
36:02 lighting so you went like i'm not caring to carry so much that you want premium
36:06 RGB like i went the other way like intellectually i know it's dumb and
36:10 gimmicky and stupid but like my eyes are just like give me more
36:15 it's like high porn you know the funny thing is like i think the pc enthusiast
36:19 takes a lot of flack for caring about RGB lighting but then for some reason
36:25 actually no we do make fun of car enthusiasts for their big spoilers never
36:28 mind okay forget it spoilers are just silly
36:32 the point that the point the point i was trying to make died before
36:38 i i was so excited for argentina rotting flesh
36:41 wow um back when like the ducky RGB was
36:44 coming ducky shine yeah yeah i was so excited and then like we got some in at
36:49 work i got to see the Corsair one early at ces and all this kind of stuff and
36:53 right when i saw it i was like oh
36:56 i don't know if i care and then have never cared my personal keyboard at home
37:00 doesn't even have lights i'm just like nope and even if it did i
37:04 have keycaps that cover them and i would not swap out my keycaps because i prefer
37:08 my pbt ninja printed gold key caps way over any lighter there's
37:13 such a door absolutely i feel like it's also one of those things where like if i didn't have
37:19 if i had like a keyboard that didn't have RGB i prefer it to have zero
37:23 lighting whatsoever it i think it's just when you give me
37:26 one option that's when i want more but if you just
37:29 give me no options and it's not lit up at all then i'll be like oh it's
37:33 perfectly fine but if you give me a keyboard that's just like oh you can
37:36 only be red for i'm like well why not green green
37:40 what the [ __ ] man why not red and green like christmas is almost here i love
37:44 what you call these greens like one of those bumper stickers on my
37:48 keyboard yeah speaking of green uh this
37:52 next topic so we'll do one more topic then we'll do our sponsors and then you
37:55 can bail if you want or you can sit through the sponsors if you're not too
37:58 bored by them um speaking of green the razer phone
38:02 officially announced um scrappy z dog posted on the forum kyle have you seen
38:06 this have you heard about this razer phone uh what yeah
38:10 phone for gamers it's for gamers totally totes i've watched for gamers watch
38:15 austin's video on it and i think i watched uh mkbhd's yep
38:21 so i don't watch anyone else's video but yeah
38:24 all right so thoughts hit me okay actually you
38:27 know what luke you look like you have something to say you look like you want to go first
38:33 people complain on this show that i never let you talk you look like you
38:36 need to talk right now what do you have to say about this so i was just going to say like what are people playing on it
38:41 because the first thing that jumped to my mind was like oh clash of clans and
38:44 you don't need a gaming phone to play clash of clans but then also right after
38:48 i said that like come on now you don't need this you need eight gigs to like
38:52 build a castle in 18 months like no it's fine um but then i was at twitchcon the
38:59 entire time that i was at twitchcon the like biggest most ridiculous booth was
39:02 lineage 2 which blew my freaking mind because i played that like before wow
39:07 came out and i'm like why are you two yeah
39:10 what the heck exactly like that game from way before i i just
39:16 assumed you were talking about something else entirely no
39:19 but it's called like ascension or something and it's a mobile game and
39:23 it's like arena combat i have no idea how all of this came together but it was
39:27 i mean it was an mmo i know i don't all i saw was arena combat it
39:32 might have just been the pvp portion of the mmo i'm not sure but it's called
39:35 lineage two and then something and it's this crazy phone game and there's
39:38 graphics all over the place and stuff so maybe people
39:41 that like decide that they need to play a pvp mmo on their phone
39:49 and like if they're targeting the right audience yeah no i know that's the thing and if
39:53 they're targeting the right audience apparently this lineage 2 game is like
39:57 top grossing in south korea and japan
40:00 wow and like they had day 9 on stage the entire event and had conan o'brien up on
40:05 stage with him at one point in time like at twitchcon live on stage
40:11 so they got money conan o'brien he's like still relevant too like that must
40:16 have been a million dollars yeah but a lot of money remember there's
40:20 a difference between okay so i love day night well you know how
40:23 much clash of clans brings in every day yeah
40:26 yeah like wow yeah like that was that's a weekend the
40:32 second i noticed that day nine was on stage all the time i was like that's
40:36 really expensive and then out of nowhere on i think saturday conan's just
40:40 up on stage with them and i'm like that's i don't care at all yeah cause
40:44 like here's the thing like internet famous people have like
40:48 appearance fees like i'm not gonna i'm not gonna lie like if if someone is like
40:52 yeah we really really need you to be there i'm like well like i have to travel i'm away from home
40:57 i'm away from the office i'm not working videos like i yeah i'm working so they
41:02 cost money but like my understanding is
41:05 that for like a slash b list celebrities like conan's
41:09 a big deal who are relevant like just to like talk is like a million
41:14 bucks okay yeah potentially really yes i don't
41:18 know either way just like have a steel booth and it was weird because you watch
41:22 you're at this booth and everyone's extremely soon that they can't see me
41:26 everyone's extremely seriously up on stage like game face this whole team
41:30 versus that whole team on their phones and i'm like what what the what
41:35 what is this so like apparently there's a market for it
41:39 okay and razer's from where uh singapore
41:42 yeah so they're pretty close to where that game is grossing really highly so
41:45 yep okay so why don't we run i'll run
41:49 through the quick specs and then let's hear your thoughts kyle um 5.7 inch
41:52 1440p um sharp display
41:57 uh 120 hertz that's a big deal like obviously i'm not going to poo-poo
42:01 them about that because i made a a huge deal of the ip of the latest ipad pro
42:06 having a 120 hertz variable refresh rate display
42:10 um huge deal big fan i love it i love this move some
42:15 people in my uh stream chat when i was talking about this while they were doing
42:19 it were like oh that's stupid because 120 hertz is just a waste of battery uh
42:23 no it's variable refresh rate so it refreshes when it needs to so you could
42:27 turn it down you could save the power or you could turn it up you could have a butter smooth experience and i expected
42:32 games it'll try to crank up and then you're like the home screen yep it's not
42:36 going to love this movie exactly and then and the battery's pretty massive
42:40 isn't like 1000 milliamps or something four thousand million power battery so
42:43 they're saying seven hours of gaming continuously eight gigs of RAM 64 gig
42:47 storage with expansion uh stereo front-facing speakers with dolby atmos
42:51 though i'm not especially convinced that dolby atmos
42:55 has a ton of value when you have a stereo speaker configuration i'm not
42:58 sure snapdragon 835 and they're saying because of their cooling it's the best
43:02 performing snapdragon 835 on the market how thick is the phone it's it's not
43:07 thin but it's not like a completely ridiculous brick either it's not that
43:11 it's not that far off what i would consider reasonable no
43:15 120 mil 700 bucks
43:19 no headphone jack okay kyle go headphone jack yay or nay
43:24 breaker honestly it's it's it's one of those things where
43:28 i have just like every phone that i've ever had even like super crappy
43:33 headphone jack so psychologically it weirds me out to think about using a
43:38 phone daily that doesn't have one but when i think about it realistically in
43:42 the last like six to 12 months with my google pixel first generation
43:47 like i have probably used that jack once
43:51 so really logistically
43:56 and that's why it's a never-ending discussion is because it really just boils down to the end you
44:01 are you someone who uses a wired head like wired headphones or earbuds with
44:05 your phone you know um and i typically don't you
44:09 know i when i listen to music i am either on my desktop and i've got you
44:12 know my my cans there or i'm in the car and
44:16 um and i'm using bluetooth so for me
44:20 it's it's one of those things that i could live without it's nice to have
44:24 but it's not necessary for me personally but i
44:27 completely understand how some people value that sort of thing especially like
44:30 you know when you get onto the audiophile spectrum and you know you're
44:34 having uh phones like the like what's lg's latest one with the d30 back in it
44:39 yep yeah the v30 so i mean yeah i get it i get it you know pushing it forward and
44:43 stuff like that but for me personally i it's something that i could do without
44:47 assuming that the rest of the phone is exactly what i'm looking for
44:52 especially with certain mobile gaming titles coming out with like voice chat
44:56 and stuff built in yep like the the need to be on headphones
45:01 actually sounds pretty major and i know
45:05 there's a big battery but they're talking about a gaming phone i know they say seven hours that's going to go down
45:10 yeah if you're using a bluetooth headset that goes down yeah and that's going to
45:13 go down over usage of the phone as well and the more you load it up with stuff
45:17 you add voice chat in that's more things that need to be processed like i'm using
45:20 my headphone jack right now yeah to listen to you kyle
45:25 so you might say that i'm not really that's a really better off that's a really sad argument it's a really sad
45:30 case wow wow
45:33 but it's it's one of those things where you're really not going to care much or
45:38 you're going to be like desperately in need of it there's i feel like there's zero gray
45:42 area here with that said i have i have
45:46 gotten used to not having a headphone jack mostly
45:50 because i've been working on my pixel 2 review uh i was working on my review of
45:54 the iphone 8 and the 8 plus um there's at least one other yeah i was working on
45:58 my review of the xiaomi mi mix 2 and these are all phones that don't have
46:02 headphone jacks and i'm just used to now carrying around
46:06 this weird stupid multi-dongle adapter thing that i built
46:10 myself so that i just have something on hand at all
46:14 times shut up i didn't know you strapped it all together
46:17 yeah because this way you like made your own multi cable so i can run this one
46:22 through here and then the whole oh wow
46:25 oh wow actually this was not my idea this was uh this came with the
46:31 moto uh z force okay and i liberated it and then i
46:36 included i came up with the idea of putting multiple adapters on it so
46:39 that's all that i contributed to this i tried to find one to buy because i was
46:44 like i should get some spares of these yeah and i couldn't i don't even know
46:47 what to search for in amazon yeah like the dongle the dongle holder dongle
46:53 holder headphone adapter pro waterproof
46:57 we should do it as like an LTT merch item yeah that'd be cool just like get
47:01 like 5 000 of them may be like yep yeah we invented this like kyle's fidget
47:04 spinner we invented this out of motorola's included accessories did you
47:08 really do a fidget spinner i did you're a monster
47:12 they sold those didn't they yeah yeah so well
47:15 yeah and but you know what i i haven't replenished them as soon as they sold
47:20 out that was that was the only stock because that's literally about how long
47:23 that yeah that would have been pretty risky
47:27 yeah oh yeah all right so there you go razer phone
47:32 um i had a lot of people i don't know hold up i don't know where people are getting this from there's some people in
47:36 chat being like this is so annoying they said it's not a gaming phone no we didn't we didn't say it's not a gaming
47:40 phone oh i thought they were saying razer said it's not a game it's only a gaming phone that's totally a gaming
47:44 phone who said it's not a gaming phone i don't know where the chat sort of got that from it's a gaming phone yeah it's
47:49 a gaming phone everyone agrees it's a gaming phone yeah we don't know why it's
47:52 a gaming phone other than the high refresh rate display and that razer said it is it's got some
47:57 RAM yeah battery yeah but it doesn't have like okay this
48:01 is the okay i find razer very frustrating sometimes um and this is not because
48:06 they didn't send me a phone and they did send some to other tech youtubers that's
48:09 not why i'm upset um i did have a call with them about
48:13 that so we definitely talked about it but
48:16 yeah it's all good not salty but i did blow up their facility yeah which is why
48:21 i'm not salty anymore oh apparently they're upset because they called it a
48:24 phone for gamers not a gaming phone uh
48:27 wow i don't care okay so the problem with with so razor
48:32 frustrates me sometimes because they do this stuff they're like and it has the
48:36 most amazing battery the best battery
48:40 the biggest battery my friend's in the flagship that's an amazing
48:43 amazing battery and he really did sound like that a triumph did you watch the
48:47 keynote amazing wait did i watch what the uh the tremendous battery basement
48:52 no i did not watch the keynote okay it's it's pretty uh it's pretty amazing it's
48:57 tremendous it's the best um anyway the point is
49:00 they're just like and then they show how big the battery
49:04 is and it's 4 000 milliamp hours and i was like uh okay you do realize that the
49:08 galaxy s8 active is arguably a flagship phone because it's a galaxy s8
49:14 oh and by the way it has a 4 000 milliamp hour battery so yes while
49:18 technically you do have oh and also it ignores the
49:22 mate 10 so that's a whole other thing um but you could make the argument that if
49:26 they're not competing in the same markets then it's the biggest in a
49:29 flagship phone no no there's no way there's no way to defend
49:32 um so there was so there was a lot of embellishment and razer does tend to do
49:37 these things i actually have a bit coming in my upcoming review of the
49:41 razer blade 4k um where there were three things in
49:45 their reviewer's guide that were either that ranged from misleading to outright
49:49 false um and i'm just sitting here going what are
49:53 you guys even doing um it's good do your job there's a lot
49:57 of companies that do look it up there's a lot of come on yeah i was just i was
50:01 finding it particularly cringe-worthy during the year it's frustrating during
50:05 this stream the other day um apparently the p2 has a 5100 milliamp
50:10 hour battery so so there's that you know what though i don't want to take
50:14 anything away from them about the front-facing speakers and the 120 hertz
50:18 display both of those are very cool both of those things make it enough of a
50:22 gaming phone that i'm not going to razz them too hard
50:26 yeah i agree i think the refresh rate i mean there's there's so much emphasis
50:31 on pixel pushing like we have the highest resolution phone
50:36 ever no we have the highest price and like everyone forgets about refresh rate
50:40 so it's kind of cool to see a company like razer who's always been sort of
50:43 more gamer centric to come in and be like look res pixel count isn't the only
50:47 thing that matters you noobs and you know actually do something about it so
50:50 that's cool it did drive i do appreciate that it did drive me pretty crazy when
50:54 they were talking about how this was the first mobile device with a variable
50:58 refresh rate 120hz display because the last time i checked the ipad pro is
51:02 technically not a phone but it's definitely a mobile device
51:08 everything's mobile device if you try hard enough that's true uh
51:11 technically a desktop is a mobile device if you if you're willing to
51:16 sort of put the saddlebags on the pony
51:20 you should do a tech quick it's a mobile yeah oh lordy well people in chat are
51:25 asking what is a gaming phone i think a 120 hertz phone is a gaming phone right
51:29 now yeah i think that's fair yeah yeah it's got extra RAM it's got extra
51:33 battery life it's got a nice screen forward-facing speaker so you can sit
51:36 there and play your thing sure i mean i i can see why people are upset about no
51:40 uh headphone jack on a gaming phone also razer's camera looks pretty trash they
51:46 just want you to be really obnoxious on the train from the demo shots
51:49 and they didn't really okay i did tune out of the stream before it was
51:52 completely over but they didn't really talk about the front-facing camera at all during the like
51:57 the may the meat of the announcement not a selfie that bad huh um but well i
52:02 don't know maybe it's great but i would expect a gaming phone to have a great
52:07 front-facing camera
52:10 wow yeah streaming yeah streaming yeah for streaming yeah yeah i would expect
52:14 the front-facing camera to be like as good as the rear shooter if you're gonna
52:18 say yep this is like the gaming phone yeah
52:21 so we'll see that makes sense um all right so we have to do our
52:25 sponsors now so kyle did you want to peace out i know we've kept you an hour
52:29 and a half after when you said you had to go or do you want to hang around yeah
52:32 guys as much as i enjoyed all right probably going to have to bow out all
52:36 right so uh one last time guys kyle is now
52:41 available on flow plane it's the best the best Floatplane the
52:46 best Floatplane it's the greatest it's insane this Floatplane
52:50 insane i mean at being a plane that can float
52:55 it's pretty bad but being a website that streams things i mean it also doesn't
52:59 exist yeah it's not but at serving video through a forum we're doing pretty good
53:04 yeah yeah so uh you can head over
53:07 well yeah you can head over there it's uh so you're aiming for one week Windows on
53:12 your content saw one week early access is that correct
53:15 that is true so there you go guys go check it out bit
53:18 with ultra and uh you can see the video that we were talking about earlier the
53:22 best rg the best RGB fans on the market
53:25 the best what's going on guys welcome back to the channel
53:29 today um it's a good video it's a good video and i i will say i enjoyed your
53:33 testing as well it was good oh thanks luke yeah see this is why i
53:38 like him do you see that buffering do you see how fast that video is buffering okay
53:42 arguably we're on 360p yeah so yeah i did mention that earlier i'm cheating a
53:46 little bit i'm cheating a little bit even better
53:50 still still come on come on baby look at that responsive player look at that
53:54 responsive
54:02 all right and i will start pimping our sponsors for the win show today all
54:06 right see you kyle bye guys thanks bye
54:12 all right so number one
54:16 is synergy oh my goodness can you believe how late
54:21 it is i'm sorry you can leave two if you want that's so late no i will stay
54:25 synergy is the solution to your problem of having multiple computers with
54:30 multiple keyboards and mice and not wanting to do that anymore
54:34 yeah you don't need that anymore this this is terrible oh i know though that
54:38 th those headphones i mean they're they're like
54:41 they literally are like the communal bicycle except yeah the communal
54:45 monitors they're pretty og i'm gonna take them back to the room like those are pretty those are pretty used they've
54:49 been around for a long time yeah um synergy lets you use one keyboard and
54:54 mouse across multiple computers you just literally drag your mouse across the
54:58 screens after you configure synergy and you just kind of say where all of your
55:01 displays are and boom you're using a different computer and the keyboard
55:05 works with that one now you can even drag and drop files you can copy paste
55:09 um the pro version includes encryption for the data that's passed between the
55:13 computers and in my opinion the coolest thing about
55:17 synergy is that it is cross-platform Windows mac and Linux
55:24 so whether you have like a gaming box and a separate dev box or whether you
55:29 uh you know run apps that are only available on mac my
55:33 biggest have ones that are only available on Windows my biggest thing
55:36 every time is if you have a laptop for work a lot of people do that these days
55:40 you have laptop for work you take it home you just plunk her down
55:44 turn it on you're already done yep pretty cool so it all runs over the
55:49 network and you guys can head over to seamless s-y-n-l-e-s-s dot com synergy
55:54 when two and you can save fifty percent
55:58 on synergy today that's some serious discount that is some serious discount
56:02 and you know what's not discounted squarespace whoa except that it is oh
56:08 don't use our code wow wow so squarespace lets you build
56:13 your own beautiful website just pick one of their great templates and
56:17 boom you put in your pictures you put in your text you can actually have a site
56:22 up in a matter of minutes if you just want one of those simple one-page sites
56:26 it's all cloud-based so there's no like oh no i forgot to upload that thing or
56:31 whatever you just go ahead make all your changes click save and instantly your
56:34 site is visible to anyone on the web and they are they have been extraordinarily
56:40 reliable for us i don't think i have ever gotten a complaint that
56:43 linusmediagroup.com has been down in the last four years and we've tried to like
56:48 intentionally bring it down oh yeah we've tried to zerg rush it by being like okay everyone on lan show go hit it
56:52 now we've seen it slow down for like a second but
56:57 it actually usually is like okay i'm good yeah yeah
57:03 so uh squarespace starts at just 12 a month your site looks great on any
57:08 device because they feature resp because all their templates feature responsive
57:11 design so whether it's a desktop laptop or even a mobile device it'll look
57:15 awesome and they've got tons of great
57:18 modules built in like commerce which actually now includes extra information
57:23 it's not in my it's not in my notes here but actually the commerce module has
57:26 been upgraded uh so the commerce module now includes oh we have to pull that up
57:30 is that a squarespace site that someone built uh no oh okay never mind yeah
57:34 should we control this wrong no we shouldn't no okay there's a new reason
57:37 why we should um oh yeah i will show you in a moment oh okay well at any rate
57:42 head over to squarespace.com when and use offer code when
57:47 to save ten percent uh which leads us to our last sponsor
57:53 who is actually giving away three different models
57:57 three models of their desktop z box mini
58:01 pcs so they're giving this is zotac and wow this is awesome they're giving away
58:06 one pi225 so this guy is fanless so zero noise two
58:11 usb 3 ports uh wireless ac an Intel n3350 processor i believe
58:17 that's quad core and four gigs of lpddr3
58:20 memory so super compact fanless machine i was going to say one of the really
58:23 guys of a two and a half inch SSD yeah one of the really cool things about this
58:28 thing is it's so freaking tiny this is i believe the successor to the
58:34 one that i used when i was trying to do the uh build a pc in a fridge project
58:40 oh really yeah remember that super tiny one that they had that was kind of plasticky this one looks a lot nicer
58:45 actually it's really sharp
58:48 it kind of looks in a slightly nostalgic way it kind of looks like a
58:53 like i don't know it's like a battery bank or like it looks like a lot of different things to be fair this looks
58:57 like a like it doesn't look like it at all but like a 3.5 inch floppy with the
59:01 like sliding thing on top i see your point i see where you're coming from
59:05 like no but also sort of they're giving away an mi 553 so this guy's higher
59:10 performance a core i5 7300 hq quad core
59:14 it's got it's ready for octane memory it's got Thunderbolt 3 so you could even
59:17 hook up an external GPU to it at some point if the prices ever come down on
59:20 those and basically this would be like a very
59:25 portable pretty slick little low power workstation and finally they are also
59:29 giving away a zbox 1070k dash u
59:33 so this guy is available in a gtx 1060 or 1070 configuration and has a core i5
59:39 7500t processor so that's a quad core processor this one the one that we're
59:44 giving away for that one comes with the gtx 1070 but it's a bare bone so you're
59:49 gonna need to add your own drive and RAM so the giveaway will be running for two
59:52 weeks from today and the link is actually
59:58 i'm gonna post that in the twitch chat and we're gonna have it below the archived video on youtube so go check
60:03 that out guys go join the parte
60:08 boom all right
60:12 this was a week where we actually had a lot of tech news to cover and then just
60:15 didn't um so should we try and go through some of this stuff do you want to talk about blizzard um i mean i'm
60:20 down i don't actually have a ton to say surprisingly
60:23 um okay so supposed to buy genres on the forum the original articles from pc
60:27 gamer i can keep it kind of short there's a lot of places that
60:30 this was trending on twitter which just shows how many people are actually into
60:34 it i think that's actually kind of cool um there's a huge amount of gaming news
60:37 articles that all announce this at like the same time uh i believe yeah this one
60:41 actually had some details from blizzard's vice president which was kind
60:44 of cool they are bringing back classic servers this is a commitment to do it
60:49 this is not a it's coming now um they've
60:52 asked for people to be patient i'm kind of suspecting it's going to be like a
60:55 year it's going to take time because while some of what they said about why they
60:59 couldn't do it sounded like bs there are legitimately
61:04 probably some things that will have to be revealed they're hiring a staff
61:07 specific specifically for this which is one problem they're going to run into is
61:12 trying to find people um that and they're trying to make it so the staff
61:15 is all passionate about this project right so they're trying to find very
61:19 specific people i'm sure there's tons of them but they're gonna have to vet them and all that kind of stuff
61:23 they are changing certain things they're they're they're not making it so
61:27 this cross server you will be on one server which is very cool that was one
61:31 thing people are really worried about there's no looking for group there's no looking for raid both of those were very
61:36 important to people but they will be changing some things i wouldn't be
61:39 surprised if there's like achievements and you can like buy certain pets and
61:44 like some of the some micro transactions yeah 2017 stuff yeah maybe you can buy a
61:50 certain mount that's like from the store only like they do in the modern games i
61:54 have no idea but i wouldn't be surprised if there's some micro transaction things
61:57 going on but i don't think it'll be anything major i really hope they don't
62:01 add a character boost i don't think they will i think it'll be okay um but who
62:06 knows yeah no date it's gonna be awesome i'm definitely gonna be on it a lot of
62:10 people i know are gonna be on it which is gonna be cool uh if you wanna come
62:14 play with me i'm super down let's do it up
62:17 that's all i really have to say cool yeah i'm very happy that they
62:21 actually did it
62:25 let me have a look and see if uh actually some of this stuff we can watch
62:29 the yeah i don't know
62:32 um it's at the top of the thing if you want to watch it i kind of wanted to talk
62:37 about this posted by aluminium tech on the forum original article from the
62:40 verge um apple fired the engineer whose daughter's hands-on
62:45 video of the iphone 10 went viral
62:50 um when she published it
62:55 um a lot published early yeah
63:00 oh yeah and a lot of people are siding with
63:04 the engineer here basically what went down was
63:07 she published a vlog that included a trip to the apple campus to visit her
63:10 dad and see an unreleased iphone 10.
63:14 uh the video was quickly picked up by sites like nine to five mac and spread
63:17 even further on youtube um this so her dad basically violated a company rule by
63:21 allowing her to film the unreleased handset as filming on apple's campuses
63:26 is strictly prohibited the video included footage of an iphone
63:30 10 with special employee only qr codes a
63:33 notes app was also shown on the iphone 10 in the video which appeared to
63:37 include code names of unreleased apple products
63:40 wow so a lot of people are kind of defending the engineer
63:46 and that is super dumb yeah basically yeah
63:50 this was literally in
63:54 okay i haven't personally read an apple engineer employee agreement because i'm
63:57 not an engineer and i don't think i'm sure this is a huge deal within it but
64:02 like yeah that's really bad take this from someone who has never worked at
64:07 apple and probably will never work at apple i know
64:11 that this would get me fired from apple
64:14 it is not rocket surgery to figure out how secretive apple is and
64:20 how seriously they would take something like this and even if they didn't want
64:25 to do it they would have no choice
64:29 they are completely backed into a corner on something like this if the whole
64:33 thing had been quiet and the video hadn't gone viral and they had like seen
64:37 him doing it been like whoa yo remember you're not supposed to film here
64:41 that wouldn't have been fireable probably if they could have just kind of
64:45 gone okay we all dodged a bullet there but the fact that this went viral the
64:50 fact that it was his daughter so they knew exactly who it was everyone in the
64:55 company would see this and go oh well if he can do it then
65:00 hashtag yolo who cares i can do it too
65:03 apple is so secretive and the development time on a project that apple
65:08 would release whether it's an iphone 10 or an apple tv or who knows maybe it's
65:12 the apple car whatever it is could be anywhere from six months to 12 months to
65:18 24 months to 36 months a company like that is working on tech that you won't
65:23 see for years and they have to take that kind of thing
65:26 seriously because you look at how quickly their competitors will try to
65:31 clone what they're doing with the level of secrecy that they've
65:35 achieved and now imagine if their competitors knew that that was the
65:39 direction apple was going you know a year or two years or three years in
65:42 advance they cannot afford that that is apple's entire value as a you know
65:47 whatever however many billions of dollars of con that they're worth
65:52 that's apple's value is that they are
65:55 for better whether you agree or not that they're innovators that they are trend
66:00 setters that they are forward thinkers because the iphone itself as just
66:06 a piece of cellular communications hardware is not that special i think we
66:11 can all agree on that
66:14 and they just they had no choice sorry
66:17 people are saying in the chat that he didn't know uh unfortunately it doesn't
66:21 actually matter no one cares yeah no it doesn't matter and and like someone in
66:25 the comments on the official post from i believe it was the verge was saying like
66:30 oh this might be really good for them actually because some other company will just pick them up not necessarily that's
66:36 a that's a big mark on your name in that industry like uh
66:39 microsoft has fired people for this before and nintendo has fired people for
66:43 this before i believe sony has fired people for this before
66:46 probably whether we hear about it or not the fact that it's apple and it's the
66:49 iphone 10 is probably the only reason that we're hearing about it nintendo
66:52 fired not only one parent but both
66:56 really yeah and one of them had like super nothing to do with it they're just
67:00 like nope your family but that's nintendo yeah
67:04 and nintendo's also very vicious about these types of nda banks and they always
67:08 have been
67:12 in other news broadcom to acquire qualcomm
67:16 i actually had no idea that broadcom was that big they should rename to comcom
67:22 you don't like broadcall
67:28 oh my gosh uh people apparently line up for the iphone 10 so while um a lot of
67:33 analysts were super concerned about the fact that no
67:38 one seemed that amped on the iphone 8 uh
67:41 bloomberg has this fantastic little uh chart in their article on this
67:46 where they show lineups and i don't oh
67:51 there we go lineups for iphones i don't know how exactly they measured this number of
67:56 people lining up in the mornings yeah what whatever anyway it kind of makes
68:00 sense this kind of makes sense that plus
68:03 and c would have had big lines because all of a sudden there was a cheap iphone
68:07 which was kind of neat i guess um iphone 4 was sort of a big deal yeah
68:12 it was um iphone 6 6 plus was a huge
68:15 deal and then like nothing's really changed since then
68:19 um and then iphone 10
68:22 showing that even though the iphone 8 8 plus was literally the least exciting
68:27 iphone of all time uh the iphone 10 is
68:30 right back up there with the five even if it's not up there with the four the
68:33 5s 5c and the six and six but then again the four and the six and six plus were
68:38 were freaking huge yep so there you go maybe apple's not going
68:42 out of business yet after all i don't know um
68:47 what else we got going on here razor phone let's see you know what i'm
68:52 done okay great show great show today everyone thank you for tuning in we'll
68:56 see you again next week same bat time same bat channel bye
69:01 boop i feel bad for james when we only cover
69:04 like a third of his topic and this was a really good dock too yeah it was
69:08 actually an excellent doc of any week to not cover
69:12 topics this was the wrong one because there was actually a lot of really good topics yeah i know we i could have
69:16 talked about AMD epic getting 64 cores yeah i don't think we talked about it at
69:20 all NVIDIA's ai faces which were like amazing which were like actually kind of
69:23 cool so tech synergy
69:27 but you know if people wanted tech news would they really tune into the land
