0:29 um I everyone gets sick at CES it's a whole lot of like sort of breathing on

0:34 each other and like hand shaking and people from just absolutely everywhere

0:39 yeah people from absolutely everywhere exposed to stuff that your body's not

0:42 used to that your body hates you for

0:46 basically's so Slick's goingon to check the twitch chat and make sure nothing's

0:50 wrong we have a particularly ghetto camera setup tonight which is

0:54 awesome we had a pretty exciting Day filming ncx Tech tips today in case you

0:59 guys are wondering why we're always like super tired and none of our equipment is

1:03 set up it's because on Fridays we actually film NCI Tech tips all day so

1:09 all of our audio problems audio problem what we just tested it popping popping

1:16 so the audio popping which is my favorite thing ever um has to do with

1:23 something about X changed even though

1:26 the program did not update at all and did not change at all or something to do

1:32 with our cameras which did not change at all and are

1:36 exactly same popping that we've been seeing yep so basically we have no idea

1:44 now they're saying it's fixed no idea at all we don't know what causes it we

1:48 don't know what fixes it because when I sat down with

1:52 both fs700 xa10 I sat down and I tried

1:57 every freaking scenario I could come up with and every different cable I could

2:02 swap and both cameras and everything

2:05 that I could do I couldn't replicate the issue for the life of me this one time

2:09 and then this other time it happened and I tried to upload a video of a mionix

2:15 naos 8200 three times all three of which now

2:20 I'm getting a call from diesel of all people yes

2:28 sir no we know we know there's popping

2:32 I'm talking about it right now yeah I

2:35 have no idea what we can do about it to be perfectly

2:41 honest uh we we don't have

2:53 the uh the audio on the camera itself is it still

3:07 he's uh he's actually admitted that it's his fault right here on the phone with

3:10 me he's explaining that he uh he broke it so thank you thank you for uh for

3:14 explaining that thank you bye um so the

3:18 naos 8200 I've had people posting lus are you trolling us blah blah blah blah

3:23 blah you've uploaded this three yeah I've uploaded it three times you know what I've also fixed the AV sync three

3:29 times and it seems to be something that is you

3:34 know magically fine in my video editing program and then he says it's fine now

3:39 and if they're saying it's fine now then I guess it's fine now we might as well get going um so if it's something that's

3:44 magically fixed when I fix it and then I upload it and YouTube breaks it there's

3:49 not a whole lot of anything that I can do about that uh the issue I would be

3:54 afraid to even okay yeah he's not plugging in um honestly I don't even

3:59 know what's causing the issue because like I said I cannot reproduce the error

4:04 and all this equipment sort of is finding good as long as it wants to love

4:09 you and wants to work but a lot of the times it does

4:13 not um want to talk about what happened

4:16 with The Forum today I'll let slick handle that one

4:20 while I go adjust the camera to make it level so okay so I was off benchmarking

4:26 a 8800 GT versus a 66 TI just to on like

4:32 a fairly Legacy platform just to show

4:35 how much of a performance increase you would get from swapping out just a card

4:39 instead of like improving your entire build anyways Diesel and Linus are off

4:44 filming lonus goes to toss a flash drive to diesel but diesel has no idea it's

4:48 coming so diesel tries to freak out and grab it real quick but misses it deflex

4:53 off Diesel's hand flies into the open server it would be hilarious if uh Mr

4:58 Wizard's watching cuz I haven't explained this to him

5:01 yet um flies into the open server and hits the SSD that's just like sitting in

5:06 the bottom when it hits the SSD it unplugs

5:10 the SATA data cable and the whole server is just like freaks out I have no idea

5:17 that it unplugged so I'm sitting there talking to Mr Wizard Mr Wizard's like oh

5:22 Drive failures there's Drive failures what's going on what's going on I can't

5:26 control the server I can't shut it down I can't do anything so I start freaking

5:29 out I shut it down start messing with it going to BIOS all this kind of stuff is

5:32 not detecting the SSD I have no idea why I have no idea what happened lus leaves

5:38 because he has to go do some stuff um

5:42 and Diesel just gets to witness me absolutely freaking out as my server

5:47 down eventually I figured out that the SSD was unplugged and it was because of

5:51 the flash drive that lonus threw in there in my defense it was a pretty good

5:56 throw that's impressive to have it like

6:00 go from across the entire room and hit a cable on a drive and actually like

6:05 dislodge it is quite impressive and that and the cable on the drive was like

6:09 legit plugged like into it and then the drive itself is bolted to the bottom of

6:13 the case so I can't even like it's probably a one in a million shot oh yeah

6:18 like it's kind of miraculous like you could throw that USB and the thing too

6:22 though is that the way the drive was oriented was the drive was oriented this

6:26 way this is the back of the drive and then the USB um uh thumb drive came in

6:31 at this angle so to hit it from the back

6:35 and unplug it it must have like bounced off of something and then came back out

6:39 or something I don't even know I don't even know it's just absolutely

6:42 miraculous one in one in a freaking million for sure um is our is our

6:48 YouTube video up announcing the live stream yep should be up all right did

6:52 you put the link under the video and everything yeah wow with Slash new on it

6:56 so they'll get the new UI that UI new UI by the way guys if you're watching on

7:01 Twitch TV which is the only way you could be watching um type Slash new at

7:06 the end of your url bar and it'll give you the cool new twitch UI I like it a

7:10 lot you should check it out oh they want to know what happened to my parot zek's

7:13 on the trip I just saw that in the twitch chat um what happened was I um

7:19 got did I what why did I why did that

7:23 okay well I sat on them I sat on them on the plane and I was super disappointed

7:29 about to other results because shoot you know what I don't feel like going and

7:33 getting them right now but basically the ear cups are supposed to rotate 90 Dees

7:37 one way and then stop the other way so that when you put them around your

7:41 around your neck they don't just like flop all over the place and could be

7:46 sort of anywhere so that they stay kind of like look like headphones around your

7:50 neck and when you go to pick them up and put them on your ears they're not just sort of oriented funny um so I sat on

7:55 them and actually forced one of the ear cups 90 de the other direction so one of

8:01 them is correct and one of them goes all the way around

8:05 180° and um so I you know with all the

8:09 things that go wrong around here it's a miracle we release any videos at all I

8:14 was going to say today's live stream how lonus breaks

8:19 things hold on I something else I didn't

8:22 break the audio and I didn't break that na video although maybe I didn't fix it

8:27 properly whatever I just I took off the third attempt it's not there and I uh

8:34 and I'm leaving the one that was not as bad as the first one but there's nothing

8:39 I can do about the audio popping in that video we can't refilm an unboxing

8:43 unfortunately because an unboxing is an unboxing it inherently only has one

8:48 chance of being good yeah um so it's the nature of it's the nature of the Beast a

8:52 little bit and I'm sorry there's really just nothing we can do about that I do

8:57 have something exciting to announce in 15 minutes but I guess I can kind of I

9:01 can kind of wait for that in 15 minutes oh yeah I don't know if you even know

9:05 about this um I guess you can't tell me

9:08 right now no I can tell oh wait no I can't right because they're there we

9:12 could just we could just have some more audio issues and they they could just

9:16 not be no it's fine I'm okay with waiting 15

9:19 minutes okay well here how about this I'll put you on the spot what was your

9:24 highlight of CES my highlight of CES probably the

9:28 Swift Tech really well that was really cool to meet gabri

9:31 Sean okay that was pretty damn cool pretend

9:35 you're talking to them and not to me cuz I know exactly what happened but they don't like the whole

9:40 story okay that's the point of a talk show so we have no time because were

9:46 kind of insane and we pulled ridiculous our ridiculous hours there it starts

9:50 with Project Shield basically cuz we were there the previous day we'll tell

9:55 that part because okay okay I'll tell that part then okay so it's starts with

9:59 Project Shield I don't know if you guys noticed but our project Shield coverage

10:02 went up three four days after everyone else's um so the reason for that was

10:08 that we didn't know about Project Shield because we didn't well I mean we knew

10:13 about it but we didn't know about you know when they were doing press briefings or if they were doing press

10:17 briefings or any of the other stuff um

10:21 diesel wants to be a mod in chat just so you know okay uh so when and if they

10:25 were doing press briefings so so we got kind of we were on the list kind of L

10:29 so we showed up um sort of a couple days afterwards cuz we we weren't at the show

10:33 for the first day and we were like okay so uh can we get in can you squeeze Us

10:38 in and the guys that NVIDIA were like yeah yeah like we really want to get you

10:42 in um hang around for like 20 minutes and uh and we'll get you in so we were

10:47 like okay we only have 20 minutes cuz we have to be on a bus in 30 minutes and

10:53 it's 10 minutes away so that's like cutting it really close we're going to

10:56 be late for the bus so we waited 20 minutes and then as we were walking away

11:01 we had to go we had a bus that was taking us to an event that we had to be

11:05 there for if we didn't catch the bus we'd have to wait in the cab line which

11:08 is what 45 minutes yeah yeah easily

11:11 maybe an hour so like we weren't going to make it to the event if we didn't get

11:15 the shuttle um so we got the we got the

11:18 call from them five minutes after we'd left saying oh we're ready for you and I

11:22 was like crap we can't come we were not planning to go to the show The Following

11:26 day because we had meetings booked and like sweet tours booked all over the

11:31 Vegas Strip like nowhere near the convention center for that day so we're

11:34 like crap this was our chance to get to Project Shield we missed it so we get to

11:39 the bus and someone else is late by like 30 minutes so we're sitting there on the

11:45 bus looking at our watches we don't wear watches but figuratively looking at our

11:49 watches going holy crap whoever that

11:52 last person is like might get might get

11:55 just decked because so the worst part is

11:58 they keep making the bus driver move because he was taking up too much space

12:02 so we just get this like repeated like

12:05 oh we're so close to shield and then back away and then oh we could just go

12:09 in and film it and then back away and we didn't know like how long the bus was

12:12 going to wait we kept we kept asking they kept telling us oh soon soon soon

12:16 so we're like okay okay we'll wait we'll wait um so yeah that backfired so we had

12:21 to go back the next day which means we had to reschedule some stuff we missed

12:25 NZXT and I was really super the depressed about that and the way that I

12:31 had made it because because it takes a really long time to get to and from the

12:34 convention center because of the cab lineups I mean we could hire a limo to

12:38 do it I guess but you no big deal $100 you know each exactly um so I was like

12:45 okay I'll send slick to the Swift Tech

12:48 Suite to just kind of you know talk to them and uh and I'll take Diesel and

12:53 we'll go film Shield so slick didn't even get to see Shield which by the way

12:57 totally sucks cuz Shield's awesome yeah and oh did I mention it's freaking

13:01 awesome watch the video diesel got to just sit and play with it for like 10

13:05 minutes no I know you guys yeah I

13:08 know it's awesome I'm still happy I went Swift did I mention you can run Android

13:13 games and you can okay anyway project Shield's cool

13:18 and for those of you who don't think project Shield's cool you're wrong and

13:21 you're G to find out you're wrong in a year or 18 months or however long it

13:26 takes for everyone to kind of figure out how freaking awesome this is and start

13:30 buying them and start using them so there you go uh you can quote me on that

13:33 so so Project Shield blah blah blah so so I rescheduled Swift Tech I was like

13:37 we can't make it so I get this call from

13:41 slick okay well you have to go log in to Twitch I can't make him a mod all

13:48 right okay right there make sure you pause the video so they don't all get

13:52 hammered by Audio okay so bouncing back

13:55 a little bit this is before the call he got um I show up and walk in kind of

14:00 like knock on the door the door's open everybody's sitting there um gab ran CEO

14:05 of a company in Germany like like bunch

14:08 of big guys sitting around on the couches I walk in and they're like hi

14:12 I'm like oh hey I'm a part of the lius tech tips team just kind of here on

14:17 behalf of them just trying to see your demo and gab Bran's like oh lus isn't

14:23 here I'm like no um for context Gabe and

14:27 I go back about four four and a half years so it's kind of a it's kind of a

14:31 jerk move that I wasn't there but I it was that or Shield come on guys

14:37 basically I eventually convinced him to give me the demo and the demo was

14:40 awesome as you guys hopefully saw the videos um there's a little bit confusion

14:44 about like a hand that came in and stuff but no no no it was all fair play it was

14:48 very cool um and I saw the demo I saw

14:51 that you could take it apart like I had heard they were releasing one but I hadn't heard anything about it until I

14:55 got there so he showed me the Hands-On demo theual device and then the demo

14:58 with all the computer set up then I called lonus and was like you have to be

15:03 here because we have to film this because this is awesome so he somehow

15:08 scrambles all the way over there I'm still not entirely sure how and then

15:13 shows up instantly starts filming I leave because they have to film I go

15:18 wait in the taxi lineup and then when he's done filming he runs down gets in

15:23 the taxi lineup instead of me gets in a cab I Sprint back upstairs grab the

15:29 stuff with diesel and Diesel and I run

15:32 to the tte sports Booth while you meet

15:35 with Intel or something yeah and then eventually we meet back up like missing

15:40 that meeting was not an option no and oh

15:43 I actually I guess I never told you this so the way I got to the uh Convention

15:49 Center so quickly was instead of of sort

15:52 of going to one place and then waiting for something and going to another place

15:55 I just hijacked the uh the uh the the ride that we had from Cooler Master cool

16:00 master ride yeah so so I I he was I was like can you take us to the convention

16:05 center after dropping one of our guys off there and he's just

16:10 like um I guess

16:14 so and meanwhile like we're halfway to the convention center after dropping you

16:18 off and he's like getting calls for like other places he needs to be and I'm just

16:22 like I'm sitting in the back I'm just

16:26 like thank you

16:29 but that made all the difference cuz that probably saved us half an hour right there which was all the I was we

16:35 didn't have that much leway time like did not I was in the Swift Tech Suite

16:39 like physically there for probably like 25 minutes that was it so the uh the

16:44 first part um I got briefed on the cooler itself and then we filmed sort of

16:49 together and then I was just like okay we're running out of time Gabe uh why

16:52 don't you give the demo in real time uh and we'll just like we'll we'll do it

16:57 together on this part

17:00 oh my goodness gabri Sean is a really good guy he was really cool to

17:05 meet so no one asked but uh my highlight of the show is going to actually be

17:09 Project Shield um I didn't get to see it I know that it's kind of an obvious one

17:14 but there's a lot of things that I like about this General concept I mean I I

17:19 have like I I have a DS somewhere it doesn't work anymore but I used it when

17:24 I used my DS and this might sound crazy to some of you folks I actually used it

17:28 at home a fair bit Yeah like like yeah I

17:32 used it out and about but I actually used it at home as well because there's

17:35 sort of a different set of games and it's a different set of controls the

17:38 ergonomics of playing games on a handheld console versus playing games on

17:45 what time is it okay eight more minutes till the big announcement um versus

17:48 playing games on the stupid phone or I mean like there are other Solutions like

17:52 there's the uh steel series free which is a little controller but like small

17:57 it's small especially for you and where do you put the phone like here what you

18:01 just find like a friend and just be like yeah can you just we're on the bus right

18:06 I got my Bluetooth thing be like yeah can you just sit there like that and

18:09 hold that for me like it's it's it's not feasible there's something to be said

18:12 for having them pre-attached like that

18:16 and I've seen he's asking to mod him again did you not mod him I you you had

18:20 to log in oh I haven't logged in

18:24 yet oh right okay I haven't logged in yet uh I will soon I will soon diesel um

18:30 what was I saying right right right so there's

18:34 something to be said for having it attached now I've had some people say

18:37 that you should just be able to take your Tegra or phone and put it in there

18:41 whatever else but there's something to be said for a highly integrated

18:44 experience with purpose made Hardware that's why a PlayStation 3 is able to

18:50 run games better than a similar generation PC that's why they look

18:54 better on the PlayStation 3 purpose built Hardware will all work together

18:58 and they want you to have an experience that's consistent regardless of what

19:01 you're doing so I think there's something to be said for the form factor

19:05 the ergonomics are awesome the fit and finish of the units that people saw it's

19:09 like some of the problems that they're complaining about where they're not perfect by any stretch of the

19:13 imagination my understanding is NVIDIA didn't even intend to show Project

19:18 Shield handson they decided at the last minute oh well everyone's demanding this

19:24 so um okay then okay then with that bracket

19:29 I didn't really get that entirely they just like slapped a bracket on it just

19:32 so it would work at CES that's awesome the bracket is custom made so that the

19:36 cables like normally you wouldn't run it with a bunch of fraking cables running

19:40 out of it so so that the cables won't just like break off the connectors which

19:44 are fragile on the pre-release consoles

19:47 so epic did that that's very cool the thing that's even more exciting about

19:51 all of this I guess is just the idea of NVIDIA a company that really properly

19:57 caters to Gamers we're not talking about Sony or Microsoft where what they really

20:03 want you to do is rent movies through your stupid gaming console we're talking

20:07 a company that actually is games games

20:10 games games games getting into the console race that's what's happening

20:15 here I mean with through Tegra Zone they're encouraging uh Android game

20:20 developers to optimize for Tegra which is basically GeForce with Tegra 4 we're

20:25 going to get a ton more power with dedicated Hardware that goes along with

20:30 Tegra 4 and this console gaming experience we're going to get well a

20:34 physical console to go with it and I'm extremely excited about what the future

20:38 is going to be like I mean I think now's a good time to buy NVIDIA stock and you

20:41 know all the usual blah blah blah I have no NVIDIA stock and I'm not intending to

20:45 take a position I had NVIDIA stock at one point I made a few bucks and then I

20:49 don't have any stocks right now so there you go don't take stock advice from me

20:53 I'm not a hardcore investor but

20:56 um uh find something to talk about

21:00 talk about what we filmed today and I'll go log into twitch and we filmed today

21:03 yeah we filmed a bunch of stuff today didn't we like weekly we film oh talk

21:07 about the upgrade thing that's a cool topic okay okay so as I said earlier

21:12 when he threw a flash drive in and shut down my server

21:16 um the video that I was working on prepping is a legacy system ddr2 kind of

21:22 platform someon 5 uh yeah the x6800 Dual

21:27 Court x68 dual core S 775 machine uh

21:31 this

21:35 one this machine with an 8800 DT as you can see

21:41 right there I benched that running Dirt 3 uh

21:46 Far Cry 3 and crisis 2 um and then I

21:50 benched the exact same thing minus the graphics card but with a 660 Ti on it

21:55 and compared results it was pretty interesting um I kind of expected more

22:00 but then I guess that's because it hit pretty hard bottlenecks but still I kind

22:03 of expected a little bit more um in fact Far Cry 3 we saw about a 15 frame per

22:08 second increase in oh I'm going to forget all these numbers in dirt and

22:13 crisis it was a little bit lower because those are both a little bit more CPU

22:17 Bound in dirt I think it was about eight or nine FPS higher and then in crisis 2

22:22 I think was around 10 I think that's about where it was so that's kind of

22:26 interesting we're going to do a followup video with that about upgrading

22:29 everything else other than your graphics card are we doing everything other than your graphics card uh I think we're

22:33 going to do like CPU upgrade I mean I guess the uh you kind of need to upgrade

22:37 your platform then yeah pretty much I mean I guess the conversation here is

22:41 should you upgrade peace meal or should you not I mean what would you recommend at this point uh probably a bucket

22:48 upgrade um basically the idea is

22:52 upgrading just your graphics card or upgrading your whole system so as we saw

22:56 today like I said I expect a little bit bit more from just your graphics card so I'd probably just recommend upgrading

23:00 your entire system um that's pretty much just how it goes you kind of I see a lot

23:05 of people that are like oh I I make this much a month that I can spend and I want

23:10 to build a computer over the next eight months so I'm going to buy a part every

23:14 month and then just slowly piece together my computer that's not usually

23:18 the best way to go about it because by the time you get to your last bit of

23:21 Parts all your first stuff is kind of outdated and not that great anymore so

23:26 what is probably a better idea is just saving up for that x amount of months

23:30 and then buying it all kind of at once or buying it all within the same month

23:33 so you can hit multiple sales something like that AMD guys stealing from NVIDIA

23:38 oh my goodness um in our netlink weekly we covered a topic about AMD no it it

23:44 was yeah am employees of AMD taking

23:48 100,000 documents putting them on like flash drives and external hard drives is

23:52 apparently what they're saying um and then quitting joining NVIDIA and serving

23:58 all those documents to NVIDIA so that's 100,000 like confidential documents and

24:02 this isn't like patent stuff this isn't like release stuff this is confidential

24:07 AMD documents so not entirely sure

24:10 what's in them um but I'm assuming like

24:13 new technologies that AMD is working on etc etc so that's not cool like not cool

24:19 at all this isn't like where Google sues

24:22 someone because they use some they used round edges not cool this is like you

24:27 could totally screw over a company not cool um what are your thoughts on it um

24:33 I think that it is absolutely insane to

24:36 do that not only is it wrong but it's just like it opens them up to personal

24:41 liability in a huge huge way um one

24:47 interesting thing that I read was that NVIDIA was uh in the know about this as

24:52 it was happening apparently allegedly

24:55 allegedly yeah so we're not in ly sure about that yet but that could bode well

25:01 could not bod well for NVIDIA if that's true and like is it really worth doing

25:06 that that's one thing I find with the employees like you're stealing all this

25:10 stuff from an employer that employed you for a really long time and going to

25:14 another employer that new employer is probably not going to trust you that

25:17 much in general because you just stole so much stuff from your ex-employer so

25:21 why should they believe that you're not going to do that to them and if anyone

25:25 ever hears about it like they did you you're pretty much screwed because

25:29 that's all on you that's also on NVIDIA if NVIDIA knew about it we're not

25:32 entirely sure about that yet but I don't know totally not worth

25:36 it um The Forum if you guys have noticed over the last kind of day or two there's

25:41 been a couple kind of sketchy down times um last night was a beta upgrade to Beta

25:48 25 okay hold that thought

37:07 think about this particular skew of graphics card I think it's a graphics

37:12 card I think that everything you need to know about it can be extrapolated from

37:15 the information in the manufacturer specifications the overclock tells you

37:19 how much faster it is than a regular one and then everything else particularly

37:23 EVGA I love EVGA because just by reading the name of the I know exactly what it

37:28 looks like I know if it has custom cooling I know if it has a back

37:31 PL it's just kind of awesome I think that it's a great card I think that

37:36 you'll be very happy with the frame rates you'll get and I think that 4 gigs

37:39 of RAM is mostly optimized for multiple monitors or highres monitors so don't

37:45 worry too much about it if you're running at 1080p just get a 2 gig

37:49 version how safe is it to overclock a 660 Ti with GPU tweak um safe yeah yeah

37:57 yeah if you start seeing artifacts just back it on back down and you know don't

38:01 go too crazy on the voltage I know that NVIDIA gpus you can't really you can't

41:43 was really really cool meeting him he got to see who diesel was um he's a

43:15 outside world without actually having Windows in their homes they can just put

43:31 your walls and TVs in your walls so it'll just always feel like you're outside yeah or if uh you know like okay

43:45 legit flexible like they just take the thing and they just kind of go like this

43:52 they could make a like and oh the transparent uh transparent screens so if

43:57 they could make a transparent screen that can be either opaque or transparent

44:03 then you could have either a window or a

44:07 scene or something in between so you can

44:11 have like the outside with like bubbles

44:14 coming up from time to time which would actually be kind of

44:19 ridiculous that would be really cool I mean that might be coming 30 50 years

44:23 from now where it's like no glasses through 3D so the bubbles actually have

44:28 depth and it's just you look outside and Bubbles come up like across the

44:31 landscape it reacts to your mood so you get really angry and then all the

44:35 Windows are like yeah like like lightning comes down well that again

44:40 okay that brings us to the perceptual technology demo at Intel where they're

44:44 talking about how they want to build sort of webcams well they want computers

44:48 to be aware of you so they'll have infrared sensors and uh you know who

44:53 knows what they'll have in the future maybe temperature sensors plus cameras

44:56 they'll be able to read facial expressions and they want your computer to know if you're reading something on

45:02 Facebook and you like it then it can just like it for you and little random

45:08 things like if you pick a movie and you've watched that movie be like

45:11 similar movies before and you didn't look like you liked it like the computer

45:15 perceives that you did not like it it'll be like oh I don't recommend this movie

45:18 you didn't like this type before yeah so so that brings us to our you know our 3D

45:25 room sort of that that would actually be kind of the coolest thing ever we're

45:28 getting close to Hol de yeah we're getting close to like the pathetic fallacy actually being all around us so

45:34 that that'd be like the best thing ever I want a hollow deck you want a hollow

45:38 deck I think you're I think we're a little bit too too old to actually

47:46 hyperthreading and then some nonk that we don't care about like okay I'll just

47:52 stick with my and then after all the song and dance that Intel went through

47:56 about how the reason that Ivy Bridge didn't overclock well like I mean

48:01 generationally better than Sandy Bridge was because as the dies keep shrinking

48:05 we're reaching that point of we we we

48:09 can't Crank It Up anymore we can't just pump more volts through it Heat's going

48:12 to become a factor for us like quick fast so we were kind of looking at it

48:16 going okay well there's probably nothing special overclocking wise that was around the time those rumors were coming

48:21 out that Intel was going to do away with sockets entirely so we were like okay

48:24 they don't care about enthus anymore blah blah blah blah blah no read the AMA

48:29 because he drops a couple bomb hints

48:32 like will be like the best thing ever

48:35 basically going to be the bee's knees he said it'll be uh an overclocker dream an

49:24 platform that had a CPU that was slow enough that it sucked I mean even right

49:29 after that we got LGA 1366 Bloomfield 920s are like still

49:35 kicking my dad's running one yeah and like running it well he folds on it

49:40 constantly well he uses uh boink yeah he

49:44 uses boink can still run any game and while running boink he plays whatever he

49:49 want yeah so I mean that that that

49:52 architecture was so strong and we have we've seen small generational

49:57 improvements from them but think about it this way we haven't actually seen

50:00 that many cuz Bloomfield to lynfield was just a socket change it was the exact

50:05 same architecture and then from there we went to uh we only got lynfield on 1156

50:11 right I think so yeah and then from there we went to Sandy Bridge yeah from

50:15 there we went to Sandy Bridge so we got a generational bump there and then we

50:20 got Sandy Bridge e which was just that again but on a different socket and then

50:24 we got Ivy Bridge which corporate instructions per clock

50:28 actually didn't change that much from Sand Bridge so since Bloomfield we've

50:33 actually only probably increased clock for clock around 20 to 30% and clock

50:38 speeds really haven't gone up that much you can overclock a Bloomfield CPU to

50:41 3.6 3.8 easy so yeah think about that

54:18 for a programming Forum that's weird we weren't going to have it at first because we're like a hardware show but a

54:25 lot of our fans come from a lot of different disciplines and a lot of people ask for programming for them so I

54:39 couple posts in there but I think it's mainly because people didn't know it was there so if you're into programming you

56:17 kind of deeper it doesn't have so much of a sharp edge to it it's just kind of

56:21 it's more chunky and they weigh more so it's if you have big meat hands and you

56:26 just like smash your keys it's really really really nice I've seen a couple

56:33 awesome that's exactly what I want I love greens I hope to get my hands on a

56:49 Cooler Master is going to be bringing that to Market soon I think the

58:56 um as it would Harden My cables and then as I moved my cables around they' if if

59:01 I was if I manhandled them a little bit they'd crack now this is you can detach

59:05 the USB cable on it so I'd take it around all the time because I really

59:09 really like my keyboard and stashed my USB cable in my bag so it started

59:12 cracking over time and then the keyboard

59:15 stopped working I thought this was because the cable so I swapped it with

69:19 think Rogers didn't have something equivalent and my contract was up and hers wasn't so I would consider going

86:27 idea Surface Pro I think I have to wait

86:35 surface one once apps are better and once it's running Tegra 4 because Tegra

86:40 4 is going to be way faster than Tegra 3

86:43 um so surface is sort of Achilles heel is the speed of the CPU surface Pros

86:48 Achilles heel is the power efficiency of the CPU so so it's going to be Surface 2

86:54 versus Surface Pro 2 where we really find out which of those platforms is the

86:59 real deal because by then Intel will have launched their Haswell based low

87:04 power CPUs which will be just like Destructor in terms of performance and

87:10 should have power consumption that's right down there with the mobile stuff

87:14 Surface Pro is probably like okay it

87:17 only gets three to three and a half hours of battery no no no I'm saying surface like that line like the Service

87:22 Pro Line is probably the first tablet that I would legitimately like okay when

87:25 netbooks came out all the students were like oh yeah I can have this tiny little

87:29 thing that I can take to class and everyone's like wow this sucks and then

101:42 everything else that's going on and if we're going to have a chance of being on

101:47 The Cutting Edge of some of the technologies that are coming whether you

101:51 like them or not things like uh IP gaming it's coming they will be able to

101:56 roll that no but think about it imagine if you were on a fiber gigabit

102:00 connection I just want my own rig who cares at that point though I just want

102:04 my own rig why cuz I like what if the latencies were like 3 milliseconds I

102:09 have what is it okay altogether I have like aund and something gigs of cloud

102:14 storage available and I used like 24 megabytes well that's cuz it's so

102:17 inaccessible what if you could access it at full gigabit it's still pretty

102:21 accessible for documents and stuff and I just don't that's irresponsible though I

102:26 like it I like having local stories do you have a raid backup of it I have a

102:42 fired now you know and knowing is half the battle um

102:50 so like any anyways uh okay IP gaming is

102:53 coming whether guys like this believe in it or not 30 years from now a gaming PC

102:57 will be a relic I know it's coming it's coming so we need the latencies or well

103:02 we need to not have the latencies we need to have two 3 millisecond latencies

103:07 in order for a technology like that to even make any sense to have the image

103:11 rendered in the cloud and then beam to us and have our inputs going to that

103:16 that cloud-based uh rendering solution

103:19 so um fiber is the only solution so in

103:23 order for like cuz countries like Japan are going to be able to roll out fiber

103:27 to all like that because they have this population density you run like a

103:32 kilometer of fiber and you reach like a bajillion people in their highrises that

103:38 can now all be tapped into these these wide wide

103:42 backbones we can't do it here and that's fine but it means that North America is

103:46 going to fall behind on the technology curve so Google's doing their part to

103:49 kind of step up and make that out of reality put some pressure on those guys

103:53 I love it I'm happy to see it and i' I'd hope that within the next 3 to 5 years

103:57 I'll be able to get a beast connection here I mean already now over copper I

104:01 can get 250 down I just wish the isps would stop being so stingy about upload
