okay so last night tried to kind of make
0:03
a stencil for the nuclear logo didn't go very well i used this version and then i
0:08
have some adhesive-backed stencil paper but as you can see tracing things is not
0:13
exactly a forte for me most of these were done on a table so i could barely
0:17
see actually through to the actual logo i need some form of backlight to help me
0:22
so i thought of grabbing the ultimaker turning it on so the white light is
0:26
shining through it and putting it down on the table but another thing that was
0:29
brought up is that i should be tracing it this way
0:34
brandon pointed out that it's a lot easier because of the grid lines and it's a lot easier because it's paper if
0:38
i'm going to be cutting everything anyways it doesn't really matter
0:42
so here we go
0:56
the master case 5 by cooler master gives you the freedom to truly make your mid
1:00
tower pc case your own with a variety of modular parts and accessories click now
1:04
to learn more i love how of all the things that i've
1:09
either never done before in this build or i'm extremely an inexperienced in
1:14
creating a stencil was the biggest roadblock
1:22
all right so that was the first one done honestly it actually kind of looks
1:27
okay so i need to create three more of those and then
1:31
four more that are actually just a circle and don't have the nuclear
1:34
details on the inside this is gonna be a bunch of stenciling so i'll catch up
1:37
with you guys in a sec
1:46
i can probably just tape the crap out of it
1:57
okay so i have my four nuclear three uh
2:01
oh where's one of them anyways i'll find it i have my four nuclear logos now i
2:06
need to cut the shapes and things out of the nuclear logos using an exacto knife
2:09
and a cardboard box we're getting close
2:14
how's that i gotta cut out three more that took forever so
2:38
all right so all my tape markers are on the 3d printed bomb spacer thingy all
2:42
the stencils are cut so now it's time to take the adhesive part of my stencil off
2:48
and stick it on the bomb that doesn't look right
2:52
that's three inches up what the f
2:58
one good thing is the adhesive doesn't seem too strong
3:02
and try to place it down and hopefully it won't be too hard to get off
3:06
logo number two it's with one thingy facing up
3:11
i now need to take off my placement stickers the placement of
3:16
these things admittedly is not perfect
3:20
okay so now it's time to paint the nuclear logos so i wet the brush
3:27
and i'm gonna dip it in that's basically what i know to do so
3:32
wish me luck
3:38
this is kind of supposed to look a little weathered
3:41
so you know what if there's imperfections maybe they were on purpose
3:45
okay okay youtube comments
3:48
we should rename this video make it not even about fallout 4 anymore and just
3:53
call it luke is really bad at arts and crafts
3:57
hopefully i can even that out a little bit on further coats but for now we just
4:01
need to let it dry next in line in the train of nerve
4:05
wracking things that we have to do is cut the bomb because we need i o holes
4:09
we need to cut holes for power audio HDMI and an HDMI coupler
4:15
also we don't have to cut a hole for Ethernet there was an option to just
4:19
screw in an ac wi-fi dongle thing so i'm
4:22
going to do that and then leave it inside the case so before i start
4:26
cutting i actually kind of need to figure out how big the things are that i
4:30
need to cut the holes for so for audio pass-through like this i've just used an
4:34
elastic band and i'm going to use crazy glue to glue them both together so the
4:38
hole can be for both of them for usbs i'm going to stick them all
4:42
together like this and then glue all of these together so that i can have one
4:47
big bank of usb passthroughs that i cut
4:50
one hole for wow these went really fast
4:55
they're already like rock hard
5:00
how's that look okay that was a little close with the
5:04
super glue and the usbs and it drawing really quickly around the elastic band
5:08
but i think we're good so i just need to let these things dry
5:12
okay so we're doing the second coat of paint now
5:16
so we'll see how it goes this time
5:20
so i went outside of the stencil slightly right here oh my goodness you
5:24
can still see it how do i fix that i don't know
5:32
all right so the next hurdle is making sure that everything on the inside
5:36
doesn't fly all over the place whenever you try to move it
5:39
at all and my idea for this was terrible
5:42
so i called my dad who's generally better at these things than i am and he
5:46
came up with a way better idea which was using ready rod to run supports through
5:51
the bomb bolting them on the outside and then also using ready ready rod to
5:56
support the power supply in the top so we're gonna do that
6:06
but that's way too high up right there how far could this motherboard go down
6:10
because we could basically bring the bolt system down farther then you've got
6:14
room
6:18
like maybe even raise it up a little bit more than that
6:21
okay i got my marks so now we just have to project these straight down
6:41
there's rod number one these might even be too wide
6:45
they are uh we'll need just probably something
6:49
across yeah like we could plastic or even just like a zap strap
6:56
all right so we've changed our minds a little bit instead of actually going through
7:00
the holes on the motherboard we are going to just suspend the motherboard
7:04
from the rods using zap straps all the ready rod holes are now done
7:08
we're gonna have it poke out a little bit past the nut on the end and we're
7:12
gonna chop the end of the ready rod off on this side so both sides look the same
7:15
yeah dad had the idea of using some actual piece of something to make the
7:19
platform instead of just zap straps we're gonna use the meshed part so it
7:23
actually breathes a little bit better and i'm just gonna jumble the crap out of it
7:27
we have made our power supply platform so it fits right into the top like so
7:32
and i'll probably hot glue that in place or whatever and then the power supply just goes
7:37
right on top of it so with sound effects yeah
7:42
specifically that's that's the sound that the power supply makes when you put
7:45
it down okay so the super glue and rubber brand
7:50
rubber brand okay so the super glue and rubber band thing actually did seem to
7:54
work so now it's time to actually cut so the first thing i'm going to put in is
7:59
our audio okay so i just drilled my pilot hole so
8:05
i know on this side where i want the headphone stuff to go
8:10
so what i'm going to do now is drill a bigger hole with a slightly bigger
8:15
drill bit then just file it out
8:20
boom boom okay this is an exciting moment our
8:25
first bit of i o is coming out of the bottom of the bomb
8:28
that is our audio so i'm gonna hop glue this bad boy in
8:32
then we're gonna move on the next one i'm gonna cut is for the HDMI coupler it
8:35
has a little overhang with some bolt holes in it so i'm gonna just cut a
8:39
circle push it in from the outside bolt through the bolt holes and then
8:43
it'll be secured that way
8:50
brandon just pointed out that it kind of looks like a surprised face like oh my
8:54
goodness if you're drilling a hole like this use
8:57
this kind of drill bit save you a lot of trouble i just forgot
9:02
perfect look how snug that is oh my goodness
9:06
so if i can find screws that fit and nuts that fit on those screws i would
9:10
like to bolt it in but honestly doesn't even need it
9:15
usb is next in the row so i'm gonna do usb now and i'll just deal with the
9:19
extra wires dremeling's pretty much gonna be my best bet because it's a long
9:24
rectangular space
9:28
another like impressively close fit
9:32
i'm gonna pull it in a little bit and then hot glue it and we'll be good to go
9:35
i can't get this stuff off me geez
9:38
i got hot glue stuck on my finger okay so i'm just picking the positioning for
9:42
the power about there should be okay
9:48
okay so we have our hole of where we want it to go
9:57
okay boom there is our power cable just need to
10:02
bolt that in and then we're good to go all right so all the i o is done i
10:08
didn't have the feed on while i was actually drilling these this top one for
10:11
the usb 3 works just fine the second one in it's going
10:17
to interfere with this leg pretty quick then the second bottom one
10:21
kind of close if you have some large usbs so when you're doing this again get
10:26
it away from this leg somehow is a good idea
10:38
okay so the final coat of paint has been applied
10:42
i just have to take it off now this is a little bit nerve-wracking because it looks kind of like absolute junk right
10:47
now so hopefully it doesn't after we pull all this tape off so there's a
10:52
little bit of spill over but that's probably my fault somehow i'm
10:56
not a very artsy person so i'll take the blame there all right so most of the
11:02
things we have to do are done now i just need to cable manage because if i don't
11:05
cable manage well enough or at all the computer components will literally just
11:09
not fit okay so i need to make spacers
11:12
i thought why not some cardboard i'm going to
11:16
tape them onto the card here and here i don't know if this is gonna
11:21
work but i gotta give it a shot so here we go
11:24
okay so our custom ghetto cardboard spacers are done they're taped on and
11:30
i'm gonna try to fit this guy i actually think that's gonna work
11:35
one more problem that i have is actually this guy jut out of metal at the end which could
11:39
touch the end of the motherboard so i'm gonna have to do something about that
11:43
okay so i grabbed some like shelf material stuff i don't even know
11:48
what this is but it's not conductive
11:51
i still have no idea how i'm just gonna actually even have this on there but
12:00
as you can probably already guess the airflow in this system is going to be
12:05
horrible so we're going to have to address that and we will do that by
12:11
testing it first with no additional airflow
12:14
measures and then we'll try to add a few things here or there and see what we can
12:18
do to improve it now i know i said that
12:21
we're going to be hanging the motherboard off the support bars with
12:24
zap straps but it like doesn't move at all
12:29
so i'm gonna zap strap it anyways but
12:33
realistically there's no point all right so moment of truth we're gonna
12:39
turn it on oh i'm really nervous um
12:56
oh
12:59
hey oh
13:03
okay whoa the computer works
13:07
okay the computer works oh i was really worried about that for
13:12
so many different reasons um but all right i need to figure out
13:17
thermals real quick so running i did 64 on the CPU within like a couple seconds
13:22
we had a CPU throttle of about 30
13:25
so yep one thing i'm going to try to do is
13:30
try to fit an industrial ppc Noctua in there i don't know if i'm gonna be able
13:34
to make it fit i might have to do a smaller fan but this would be nice
13:39
that does seem to be helping the cooling although i really don't think that's
13:42
gonna fully solve the problem whoa oh yeah there it is
13:47
CPU throttling now one thing that i'm actually going to
13:51
try to do is maybe just turn off turbo
13:54
turbo mode disabled
13:57
so what we're going to do is try to jump into our
14:01
crisis 3 skybox test if it's able to pass that then
14:05
it's probably fine
14:13
well i've never had a complete computer red screen before
14:18
that's a first no idea what that means but it's not
14:22
good eleven one i broke everything is what
14:27
this one's called okay so last night Linus saw us moving around on the motion
14:31
sensor things and kicked us out told us to go to bed um i came in this morning i
14:35
had missed my alarm picked up the bomb didn't realize that
14:39
there was something over top of the legs
14:42
and two of the supports on the legs this
14:45
one and this one actually completely broke off so i super glued them and then
14:51
when i went to go put the bomb down immediately after breaking it there was
14:55
something holding on to the switch cable and it ripped the red wire completely
15:00
out um so i stripped both ends of that
15:04
soldered that back together this is working again
15:08
um at that point i was pretty pissed off and i was like i just want this freaking
15:11
thing to work i recable managed a whole bunch of stuff
15:16
and then i dremeled and cut out two pretty massive holes actually on the
15:21
bottom and then grabbed some really low profile 60
15:25
millimeter fans from some stock AMD coolers that we had and i'm gonna mount
15:30
those in the bottom as air intakes so
15:34
those should help quite a bit and with in between the clips up here cut out
15:39
there should actually be airflow this time so
15:42
let's try finishing the build a second time
15:46
hopefully i don't massively break anything else
15:49
and yeah let's go
15:53
i have noticed that there is actually some extra room here so i might actually
15:57
try to upgrade the CPU cooler the silverstone ar06 is in uh it was a
16:03
bit of a tight fit on the back had some problems there but it's fine also
16:08
the RAM didn't fit as nicely as i'd hoped so this second inner stick of
16:13
course their lpx uh got a little bit of a unique
16:17
treatment the caps for the heat pipes on the cooler
16:21
were a little bit too big and pressed against it and made it lean into the
16:26
other stick so i took a dremel to it
16:29
and uh kind of
16:32
cut some grooves where man this looks horrible where uh
16:37
the heat pipes would actually be trying to go
16:41
so now you can put it in uh
16:44
it actually fits just fine so um once Linus sees that i might not have
16:50
a job so hopefully you guys like this video a lot
16:54
the 300 watt is no longer needed this
16:58
thing served me well for the time i had it but
17:02
the 450 watt has finally showed up got
17:05
it got it got it which is good because last night when we were testing we did
17:09
actually run into some power issues so very happy to see that got our new
17:14
cooler on the motherboard time to start trying to put things back together
17:17
it's unlikely that it will melt a lot of computers are plastic too
17:22
hot damn all right so inside you can see we've
17:27
got some space in front of the CPU for it to breathe
17:31
we've got our two sticks of RAM like we were talking about this y cable for the
17:34
fans goes to the two fans that are in the bottom this windy SATA cable kind of
17:39
tries to keep itself out of the way and then plugs into the SSD which is back
17:42
here we have our anti
17:47
mat thing which is going to try to keep the back of the motherboard protected
17:51
from things shorting it out we have our nano which is held away from
17:55
the motherboard a little bit by our custom cardboard spacers and our blue
17:59
painters tape our Wi-Fi card
18:03
is actually keeping the SSD away from
18:06
the back of the graphics card because
18:09
the SSD is closed in metal and i don't want it to short the graphics card and
18:14
all together it fits all under the top
18:17
crossbar which is the ready ready rod or whatever
18:22
um so that we can put the plate on top
18:25
of there we can put our new watt power supply on top of that
18:30
plug it into here plug in the graphics card plug in the motherboard 24 pin and
18:36
8 pin and then plug in the SSD and then we're going to see if it
18:40
runs okay so there's one thing left that could ruin everything um
18:46
the top of the bomb gets this ring on it and then this cap goes on top of that
18:50
ring but on the inside part of the idea that we have for air to
18:55
be able to escape out the top is for these sections between the clips to be
19:00
cut out if i miss i could take out one of the
19:04
clips and then it might not actually go in here and then there's just going to
19:08
be a hole in the top of our bong which will look super dumb
19:13
one random note i haven't shaved since we started this
19:17
because i've literally been working on this or sleeping
19:20
i showered have a shape
19:24
all right so the top is on um it's clipped in there we left a
19:29
little bit extra on each side so i could click it in and then we taped it on so
19:34
that it shouldn't rotate and then fall in so that those air gaps should
19:38
actually stay there now i'm a little bit worried because there's some weight to
19:42
it and those legs
19:46
are maybe not as strong as they used to be
19:49
in their young days so it's kind of go time wanna make sure
19:54
this thing works
19:58
okay so the legs go in
20:02
it's plug-in time
20:12
okay so fans installed on the bottom new
20:16
CPU cooler the CPU was thermal throttling within seconds before now
20:21
we've been running it 64 for a little bit we're floating between 60 70 degrees
20:25
depending on what core you're counting
20:29
i think we might have done it
20:36
tunnelbear the easy-to-use privacy app for mobile and desktop internet browsing
20:40
you can use tunnelbear on iOS Android mac pc or even a direct chrome extension
20:46
that lets you tunnel or browse the internet as if you're in up to 14
20:50
different countries with ease this allows you to access things like
20:53
geo-blocked websites which can be very frustrating to deal with it's super easy
20:57
to install and use and if you encounter any issues have friendly support bearers
21:01
standing by 24 hours a day to help they currently serve over 5 million users and
21:06
you can join them by becoming a free user today with 500 megabytes of data
21:10
usage allowed every month but if that's not enough for you they have unlimited
21:14
plans starting at 6.99 or better yet head over to tunnelbear.com LTT and you
21:19
can save 10 all right
21:22
that is it it works the computer runs i've
21:26
already ran crisis 3 on it everything's fine it's not thermal throttling it's
21:30
got some good stuff going on
21:33
it's been it's been a while i've been working on
21:36
this thing since monday at 9 30 a.m until about midnight every single day
21:41
and now we're finally here it's seven something on a thursday i don't even
21:46
know what happened to this week hopefully you guys liked the video give
21:49
it a like if you did honestly that will help because if everyone appreciates
21:53
this i can maybe do this for other game launches or say movie launches like star
21:58
wars in december anyways that's about it
22:01
like i said like the video if you liked it dislike it if you didn't but like
22:04
come on man damn it's like rude and stuff anyways
22:09
these are amazon affiliate code to buy stuff from there check out a t-shirt
