0:03 it was how many case fans do you need and in what position today we're going
0:07 to be doing another cooling investigation video this one is going to
0:10 be based on cable management so we're going to look into uh how much it
0:14 actually affects your cooling now there's a little bit of a problem here
0:19 which is where most cases these days are actually pretty damn good and have a lot
0:23 of space behind the motherboard and have like very clear ways that you're
0:26 supposed to Route the cables which isn't in places that would affect the cooler
0:31 so you're probably fine but this is more
0:34 of an investigation as a whole sometimes you'll see comments online where someone
0:37 will be like your cooling's going to be terrible cuz you left a few cables going
0:42 in front of those fans so we're going to check that out I don't know the answer
0:46 yet let's test everything

1:11 well pretty good in terms of cable management like this should be our
1:14 Benchmark for clean Cable Management it's not the best that has ever been
1:19 done but it's at the point where I think it's not going to affect the cooling in
1:23 any way so this is pretty bare in terms of setup for cooling we have a hyper 212
1:27 Evo finally I'm not putting it in a T4 and pretending it's a 212 Evo thank you

1:39 complaining about not having one so there's one fan on there there's one 140
1:43 mm fan in the front there's a 140 mm fan
1:46 in the back and there's two 120 mm fans
1:50 in the top so this will be our base
1:53 Benchmark for how this computer is able
1:56 to perform with pretty good Cable Management we we will then record its
2:01 numbers and then I'll start messing with the cables more and making it Messier
2:04 and Messier and just see how far the rabbit hole goes so I've got the case
2:08 all closed up and now I'm doing some testing so this is going to be run for
2:12 about 10 minutes total I'm running furmark on the GPU and recording
2:16 temperatures of the GPU using MSI After Burner and then I'm doing a system
2:20 stability test with ID to 64 in order to push the CPU so this should heat
2:25 everything up and get us to a relatively hopefully High number
2:30 um although this isn't a particularly hot graphics card and the hyper 212 Evo
2:36 is probably going to do fine because nothing's actually overclocked and then
2:41 uh we'll start throwing more cables in there and messing around okay so results
2:45 of the first tests are in again this is more just a benchmark for the rest of
2:50 the benchmarks this is where like okay there's no real cable obstructions going
2:54 on so our CPU is at about 50° and our
2:58 GPU is at about
3:02 82° so we're going to document that make the cables a little bit worse and move
3:06 on okay so I've added some cables I haven't added an insane amount of cables
3:10 I have three big thick ones going across
3:13 the front I have one going kind of through the middle and then I have one
3:18 placed as a pseudo not very well-managed eight pin going like across over the
3:23 power supply by the back of the CPU Cooler and then up to where the eight
3:27 pin placement would be I don't expect this is going to fect much but I haven't
3:31 tried it yet so let's figure it out okay so this one's good to go well okay let's
3:36 be clear if you're building your own system don't leave your cable management
3:40 that crappy but it's good to go for this test for what I need it to do right now
3:45 so walking over to this screen I'm now
3:48 going to set the test back up so yet again fur Mark for the GPU stress test
3:54 and then starting Ida 64 for the CPU
3:58 another 10 minutes we'll record the numbers and see how it did see if it
4:02 actually affected anything I'm kind of thinking it won't or at least not very
4:07 much so that did absolutely nothing 50° on the CPU still
4:14 82° on the GPU we're going to have to make this Cable Management a lot worse
4:19 that's going to be the next step I'm going to add like maybe most of
4:25 this and we'll see what happens side
4:28 panel's on fur Mark is set up Ida 64 is
4:31 already running this test is a go I know I've said this a few times already but
4:36 if this doesn't produce a result there's probably not a ton that I can even do to
4:40 be completely honest and one of the results from this video might be if you
4:43 have a standard kind of Tower and cable management probably isn't that important
4:47 if you have something like a no 202 or you have that bomb that I built for the
4:50 Fallout build check that video up here then it probably matters because if
4:54 you're completely blocking off all of the air inputs that'll be an issue but
4:57 on a big case like this there's enough just open areas that the air is probably
5:02 going to flow um but who knows we'll see soon
5:08 10-minute test okay so no change at all CPUs at 50
5:14 graphics cards at 82 so yeah seems like if you have a mid
5:20 Tower you're probably fine in terms of K management so we're just going to have
5:23 some fun I'm going to put a Snoopy in there a twitch t-shirt a roll of tape an
5:28 iron a Santa hat and maybe that'll do
5:34 something
5:39 God oops I don't know where I'm going to put
5:43 all this
5:47 stuff now if your cable management is so
5:50 bad that you put a Snoopy of Santa hat and iron and a twitch t-shirt in your
5:56 case we'll see how much that'll affect your airf flow system stability oh I
6:02 forgot the tape it's okay while the tests are running I'm going to add the
6:07 last part that I forgot to add which was
6:10 the roll of tape I'm sure lonus is totally okay with all the things I'm
6:14 doing right
6:17 now nice um I don't know where I can put

6:42 tests are currently running let's see how they're going the CPU is currently
6:47 at 50° and the GPU is currently at
6:54 74 what the hell what
7:01 okay okay so it's actually doing fine
7:05 right now which is really
7:09 concerning uh I guess we're going to
7:12 leave it for 10 minutes and then we'll be back 50° on the
7:16 CPU 82° on the GPU I put a shirt a Santa hat a Snoopy
7:22 an iron and a giant roll of tape along with every single cable that came with a
7:26 1200i into a case and it didn't affect anything
7:30 thing next up is boxes I'm going to take all this stuff out maybe put some of it
7:35 back in but use a lot of solid boxes to try to completely block off airflow
7:42 Pathways I want some numbers to go
7:47 up okay so we used the box for the CPU
7:52 Cooler and we used boxes for a bunch of
7:55 water coolers there's one under here or water blocks there's one under here
7:59 there's one to support that and keep it where it is there's one blocking the top
8:03 fans there's one blocking the black back fans so basically every single fan has a
8:07 box currently trying to stop it from being able to work properly except for I
8:12 guess this one there now there's a Santa
8:16 hat screwing with that one now that we've done all this I'm going to put the
8:21 case panel back wait hold up hold up
8:24 hold up can move that out of the way all right I'm going to put the case panel
8:28 back on I'm going to close this up I'm already
8:33 running the tests I didn't even stop them because nothing's changed this
8:36 whole freaking time so we're currently running furmark and currently running
8:41 Ida 64 I'm going to come over here and see if there's been any immediate
8:48 changes the GPU has not increased in temperature despite having a shirt
8:52 shoved into it and a box under it but it looks like we have a slight in
8:59 increase in CPU temperatures oh good we'll check back in
9:05 10 minutes we did it by adding four boxes
9:09 for water blocks one box for hyper 212
9:13 Evo a T-shirt and a Santa hat
9:16 effectively putting crap directly in front of every single fan there is we
9:21 have gotten the CPU to about
9:24 77° and we've gotten the GPU to 86°
9:30 done so yes in the end it took four
9:34 boxes for water blocks it took one box for a CP cooler it took a t-shirt a
9:39 Santa hat and all of these
9:42 cables in addition to the cables that were already inside which totals a pile
9:48 that looks something like this placed
9:51 into the computer in addition to the required components to heat it up so
9:56 your bad cable management in your mid Tower is probably fine this didn't
9:59 include tests for things like really really small cases or very specific
10:04 builds like the bomb we have or something like a node 202 or like an
10:08 rvz01 from Silverstone but yeah it's probably fine if your C
10:13 management is bad but like I don't know how to word this because don't just use
10:19 that as an excuse to have bad kill management we don't want ugly computers
10:23 it's not a good idea don't post a build log on the Forum and go like lol Luke
10:27 told me it was okay to have terrible Cable Management because it's not going
10:30 to increase my thermals very
10:33 much just do it properly everything will be fine apacer is giving away five
