0:00 it's time for my first handy Tech under 100 and this time we're going to get
0:05 hard and sticky so come along and let's fix your pipe manage your cables and
0:10 then cool you off at the
0:20 end the Arya headphones from Phoenix come complete with a cardioid clip mic
0:24 and acoustic Chambers constructed entirely of Japanese Pinewood check it
0:29 out in the link below starting us off with number one is fiber
0:33 fix it's a resin product that can bond to metal and wood that's available in a
0:38 patch a heat wrap and a repair wrap
0:41 that's the one that I bought it claims that it can Harden like steel sounds
0:45 great I'm in so to put it to the test I cut through a table leg support with an
0:50 angle grinder then I followed the fiber fix instructions by preparing the
0:54 surface around the brake by sanding it down with the included sandpaper a
0:57 little bit and I included some in just to make it go a bit faster then I put on
1:03 my gloves and dunked the fiberfix wrap underwater for about 5 Seconds now
1:08 fiberfix doesn't adhere the same way traditional tape does I had to wrap the
1:12 first few layers carefully making sure they were at least in the right location
1:16 then with subsequent layers I cranked it in a little bit to make sure that it was
1:20 all tight following this I wrapped some of the included vinyl strips on top of
1:26 that also cranking those down and let it sit for about 15 minutes to cure before
1:31 removing the vinyl then it was time to test
1:39 it okay so it did come off but that's
1:44 actually because I deformed the entire pipe against The Rock the problem here
1:49 wasn't the strength or rigidity of the fiber fix it was its ability to adhere
1:54 to the pipe which I did score quite a bit although admittedly I didn't get all
1:59 of the paint off but the fact of the matter is I can still pull the remaining still unbroken
2:04 part out of the end I would suggest using fiberfix along with some type of
2:09 super glue or Gorilla Glue depending on the project I'm very happy with its
2:14 strength but I'm not a huge fan of its adherence watch this real quick you're
2:18 not going to see this completely on camera
2:22 but there I can just pull it right
2:27 out next up we have item number two
2:30 sugru its creators call it moldable glue
2:34 and after taking however much you need out of the package you can stick it to
2:39 loads of different things like Ceramics glass metal and wood along with most
2:45 Plastics and even Fabrics you then have 30 minutes to fix Bond cushion replace
2:51 mold seal and stick things together then
2:54 after waiting 24 hours sugaru will turn into a durable flexible silicone rubber
3:00 that in the vast majority of cases will stay stuck permanently unless you decide
3:05 to remove it sugru can stand up to some pretty intense conditions as well it's
3:10 temperature resistant up to 180° C or
3:13 down to 50° CSUS its dishwasher safe
3:17 weatherproof and even resist the effects of the ever dreaded salt water it's
3:23 shock resistant UV resistant and it's even electrically insulating below 24
3:28 volts acceptable for small electronics projects I had John use it for a number
3:33 of things including some cable management cable strengthening mounting
3:37 and SSD in a computer case and more if
3:40 you'd like to see a huge range of stuff that sugu can do check out their Tech
3:44 DIY outdoors and general tips sections
3:48 on their site I was originally going to make a video on Channel Super Fun about
3:52 this stuff way back in 2014 but ended up
3:56 using it all before we got around to it uh it's pretty great which brings us to
4:01 our third and final handy sticky Product Arctic Silver thermal adhesive this
4:05 stuff is the real deal I mean it includes a warning stating that yes it
4:09 is a permanent adhesive components that you attach with Arctic Silver thermal
4:14 adhesive will stay attached forever your
4:17 7 G of thermal adhesive is split in 3.5
4:20 G Parts across syringe a and syringe B
4:24 you'll need to mix these parts like an epoxy in equal 1:1 ratios on some sort
4:29 of tray that you don't mind throwing away after mixing you can use the
4:33 included mini spatula to apply the solution to your heat sink or chip or
4:37 whatever you're trying to stick together wait for it to cure and voila
4:41 permanently adhered thermal transfer with solid performance to boot it's
4:46 Arctic Silver right so it has 62 to 65%
4:50 silver content by weight pretty intense
4:53 you can learn more about why this matters here but why would you want this
4:57 well if you're doing a mod to a graphics car which will remove the cooling on a
5:01 few chips or just working on a smaller Electronics project it can often be
5:05 useful to be able to add heat sinks in places where there aren't holes to mount
5:09 them by traditional means and since thermal stickers perform worse and don't
5:13 hold very well under any kind of weight load and drilling through the PCB
5:18 randomly is obviously a terrible idea
5:22 this is better than nothing which brings us finally to the full disclosure part
5:26 of these handy Tech episodes lonus originally included this section since
5:29 they're structured more as a recommendation to buy with links below
5:34 to Amazon versus a review I personally think this was a wise choice so without
5:38 further Ado item one the fiberfix was purchased by me to use for work Teran
5:43 suggested we get it when lonus broke the trailer and while he already found a
5:47 solution for that it seemed like a great idea to have some around in the future
5:51 for just any whatever use case item two the sugu was sent to us by sugru
5:56 themselves for use around the office and we told them since we already had
6:00 experience with the product a couple years ago that we were pretty sure it
6:03 would make its way into a video at some point this is that video item three the
6:07 thermal adhesive was purchased by lonus to put the dam 6700k back together again
6:13 because it's been apart for a really long time and the tube of thermal
6:16 adhesive that he had from like 6 years ago happened to dry out if you're not a
6:21 member of Dollar Shave Club and you join today you will get your first month of
6:25 razors for free they will deliver these razors continually if you stay a
6:29 subscriber to your door directly every month membership means that you can have
6:34 a fresh shave anytime you want and you'll get a first class shave when you
6:38 use their executive blade especially when paired with their Dr Carver's shave
6:42 butter which goes on clear so you can see actually what hair you're shaving at
6:46 that point in time which is pretty helpful they ship to the US Canada and
6:51 Australia so head over to dollarshaveclub.com Linus and give them
6:54 a try for free all right guys thanks for watching this video hopefully you liked
6:58 my first debut to Handy Tech if you did
7:01 let me know in the comments down below hit that like button get subscribed all that fun stuff if you hated it dislike
7:07 that's that's fine also if you're interested in any of these things you
7:10 can find them at the Amazon links down below you can check out our shirt store
7:14 also down below and uh check out this video which is the third handy Tech ever
