0:44 okay do we have
0:47 audio twitch chat do we have audio do we have audio
0:53 what flickers what flickers
1:01 I work we have light are we good does it
1:05 work okay it's all good
1:09 so I don't know what's going on with
1:13 this
1:16 camera but I'm like super not impressed
1:21 right now because we were doing um did you if you saw that uh that unboxing we
1:26 did of the Kraken x40 where we were doing a dual cam setup we we were using
1:30 xsplit to record the uh both both camera
1:35 angles and we were trying to capture audio to the
1:40 fs or through the fs and it wasn't working it was popping and doing a lot
1:45 of crazy sounds and stuff yeah but it wasn't I don't think it was as bad as
1:49 what uh yeah well I think it's the problems that there was already plus the
1:54 fact of like putting it through xsplit which is like barely working and then
1:58 streaming it online to these people like the combination of all those things
2:01 probably just made it so much worse but basically that that puts me in a
2:06 position where I'm kind of sitting here going well how does how's this supposed to work because I can record audio just
2:10 fine to SD on this guy but something
2:14 about outputting to HDMI suddenly doesn't work guys this is the exact
2:19 setup that we were using for live streams in the past and we didn't change
2:24 anything and uh yeah so I mean we're
2:28 sorry but I don't know what else to tell you because tonight we sat down to prep
2:33 for the live stream an hour ago and we should have
2:37 been just ready to go and everything should have just been fine but we got
2:42 about I don't know what half a dozen blue screens on the editing computer
2:47 that ended up irony of ironies being caused by our a media live gamer HD
2:52 which usually is totally solid compared to the black magic cards which usually
2:57 crash and cause all kinds of random horrible problem problems um but I think
3:02 it might be because we were using the bottom PCIe forx slot on the z77 board
3:07 which is routed through the chipset rather than being routed directly to the
3:12 CPU so
3:16 um yeah that sucked yeah um one other
3:21 thing as I've seen a couple times posted in the twitch chat as you may have heard
3:26 the Forum is kind of alive it's down now
3:30 because of physical server relocation meaning DNS servers that are everywhere
3:35 have to repopulate and refigure out where my server is so that you guys can
3:39 go to The Forum good news is um
3:42 everything will be exactly how it was the minute before I brought the server
3:47 down so you're not going to lose your posts you're not going to lose your accounts you're not going to lose
3:51 whatever you had it's just going to be down until something somewhere decides
3:56 that everyone can now see the form and we're really thrilled with how much
4:00 traction there's been on the Forum already I mean you guys have been
4:03 amazing and I don't think even that many of you know about it
4:09 yet um yeah I mean do do any of do any
4:13 of you guys know yet uh there there's a
4:16 few people one guy's saying what is the IP screw waiting for the DNS I can't do
4:20 that um because the HT access file uh in
4:25 my Apache folder is pointing certain things in certain places based off of
4:29 the URL name so if you go to the uh IP address it's just like an FTP
4:36 site basically so that's not really going to help you very much um nexam my
4:41 buddy and I have been spending incredible amounts of time huge thanks
4:44 to him he's done tons of things that I have no idea what he's doing it's all
4:48 voodoo magic he's a huge part of the reason pretty
4:52 much the reason why the Forum was up at all so thanks NEX um but we've been
4:57 slaving away making VB five V bulletin 5
5:01 work at all it's incredible we are the only site that I know of that's actually
5:06 a production website not like not like an example website hosted by vbulletin
5:10 that's actually running this software um and there's a lot of things that are
5:13 broken like editing posts as a lot of you have probably already noticed just
5:17 doesn't work like you can edit the post but when it goes to the edit screen your
5:21 post isn't there so it's it's kind of weird like
5:25 there's a lot of stuff that's broken like that that we can't fix because that's based on V buol
5:30 um there's a lot of stuff that's going around that we can fix that is kind of messed up the V buletin has like hold on
5:34 hold on hold on hold on got it okay go ahead uh was weird for a sec um like
5:41 different sizes for attachments and stuff the defaults for that are very
5:44 weird and not what they actually say when it tells you like oh it has to be
5:48 these Dimensions at this size it's not actually those dimensions of that size
5:51 so we are looking into problem problems that
5:55 we can fix um and hopefully V buletin
5:59 beta 24 is as nexum would say the Holy
6:03 Grail of beta releases and hopefully it fixes
6:07 everything but other than that uh the form's working pretty okay the main
6:10 problem we actually had was speed which is the reason why we did the relocation
6:14 we pulled it from here where it was running on a line that was 5 megabits
6:19 per second up um megabit megabit that's
6:23 is what I said I think he said megabytes per second I meant to say megabites per
6:26 second um to align at ncx head office
6:29 which I was hoping was going to be 40 megabits per second up but is actually
6:33 now that we got there 25 but that's still incredibly faster from what we
6:38 have right now and we'll hopefully get above the bottleneck that we're
6:43 currently sitting on to be clear guys this isn't an NC Forum this is a lonus
6:47 tech tips dedicated Forum they're just uh sponsoring us the bandwidth increase
6:52 that we need for now we're hoping to move either to an off-site host
6:57 somewhere or get some kind of like
7:00 baller internet connection here uh which
7:04 may may actually be an option I mean we can pick ourselves up a load balancing
7:07 router for about 150 bucks and then Shaw
7:12 has a new service they're rolling out here that's going to be 15 megabit up we
7:16 can pull two lines in so we might be able to do 25 to 30 megabit per second
7:21 up from here which would be that would be really cool sort of redonkulous I
7:25 would like to have the server on site we're Hardware guys so it's cool to be
7:28 able to like add actually manage the server here um but you had to do some
7:33 kaj jiggering to be able to manage it offsite with actually you should tell
7:37 them about the config you have going right now it's kind of ridiculous there so
7:41 there's two servers right now there's two servers right now one of them's
7:44 Windows one of them's Linux we're trying to move everything over to the Linux box
7:49 but then um we couldn't like properly SSH into the Linux box so oh NEX and I
7:55 spent ridiculous amounts of time today just trying to make it so that we can
7:58 actually connect to the boxes on nx's network because they have us behind like
8:04 layers of networking so it's kind of odd
8:07 trying to control things when I have no control over the routers or the switches
8:11 so I'm just like calling up the networking guy every once in a while
8:14 being like hey I need this kind of
8:17 changed so that was a very interesting situation hey it's me again hey can you
8:23 can you please do this please I need
8:26 access please and everything ended up being kind of rigged but is working and
8:32 yeah while we're at CES um I've got I've got one super
8:37 moderator set up and I've got a few moderators set up um everyone's kind of
8:41 on a trial basis right now um so watch
8:45 those moderators let me know what you think of them make sure they're all doing fair play um I think they're all
8:51 really they seem like really good guys I like the moderators so far but we need
8:54 to make sure that they're all actually really good guys um so pay attention to
8:57 them but the only admin that's going to be running online so the only guy that's going to be like controlling the back
9:02 end of the site while we're at CES is going to be nexio so good luck to
9:08 you thanks man we appreciate
9:12 it oh what if it goes down uh if it like
9:17 actually if the computer Powers down and doesn't like turn back on so like if it
9:22 doesn't restart or anything like that and we're at CES we're kind of screwed
9:27 um because it's sitting in a room that so basically don't dos us is what we're
9:32 trying to say greatly appreciated don't don't like don't go to the NC head
9:37 office and cut the power lines I mean you shouldn't do that
9:41 anyway these are things I shouldn't have to say so far everybody on the Forum and
9:46 everybody on Twitter and everything has been super helpful that's really nice uh
9:50 reporting problems is great reporting stuff like it's slow like that's good
9:54 that you told me but we know we know it's slow part of it is the 5 megabit
10:00 connection we've been on part of it is the fact that vbulletin 5 is just kind
10:03 of a dog yeah uh when we browse on it locally there's still that delay like
10:09 when you click on a thread the page populates and then there's like one two
10:14 three steam boats before you can actually click on
10:17 something we we can't stress enough the back end for the Forum VB both and 5 is
10:22 still in a pretty brutal stage of beta
10:26 um so there's a lot of stuff that we can't control one of the members of the
10:31 V bulletin Community was calling it was calling it some kind of a travesty that
10:35 they're even calling this a beta yeah and he's like a pretty esteemed member
10:38 of V bolon Community Max possible reputation points 30,000 posts like
10:44 really big guy and he's raging about it he's like this is an alpha this is not a
10:47 beta yeah and we're running it on production yeah so hang with us things
10:53 will be fixed some of it's out of our control and I'm going as fast as I can
10:57 with nexum to fix everything else that is within our control all right so why
11:01 don't we uh let's do some Twitter shall we or oh okay the angle's a little funny
11:05 we actually don't have the is this going to cause problems we don't have a mount
11:10 for the camera so it's sitting on a cardboard sheet on top of the actual
11:14 tripod yeah I don't have the tools handy
11:17 to remove the stupid mounting plate from the fs and we're trying to get this back
11:22 up as soon as we possibly could so uh
11:25 it's okay it's just not worth it you use a quarter I don't have a quarter on me
11:30 calm down all right so let's do some q& a what's a good mechanical keyboard
11:35 under 70 bucks well they're not under 70 bucks
11:40 you can find them sometimes $69.99 I
11:43 think I've seen a quickfire like the 10 keyless ones $69.99 okay there you go if
11:48 you can find it possibly somewhere ever yeah possibly somewhere ever I mean
11:52 asking for mechanical keyboard under 70 bucks is me being like hey where can I
11:55 get a good like uber gaming graphics card for under 150 bucks
12:00 it's like well sorry it just just doesn't work that way my jacket is
12:08 ugly Matt asks my CPU is an fx 4100 it
12:12 doesn't perform well in CPU heavy games will upgrading to an i5 3570k show me a
12:17 noticeable difference the answer is yes
12:21 um especially once you're overclocking at 3570k will destroy an fx 4100 FX 4100
12:28 is basically okay think think of it this way guys Phenom 1 didn't actually really
12:34 improve anything over previous um what I mean what branding
12:40 did they even use Athlon 64s I think was what they used before that Phenom 2
12:44 improved very little over Phenom 1 it was like an incremental like like like a
12:48 talk and then FX didn't really improve anything over
12:54 fenom 2 and then that's where you're at
12:57 so you're basically running an Athlon 64 whereas Intel has been marching along in
13:03 terms of CPU performance 3570k will just destroy a
13:08 4100 uh editing posts that comes in the
13:12 next beta V bulletin right supposedly but it was also in previous betas
13:18 so this is what I was talking about about brutal beta stage is like features
13:24 that used to be in it are not in it and features that weren't in it before are
13:28 in it like it's it's very much a beta
13:31 and then our version of it like what we've changed and stuff is still also a
13:35 beta so you're basically running the beta stage of a beta is what your forum
13:40 is so yay it's it's hobbling along we're
13:44 doing good but yeah yep uh thoughts on PC 360 I've heard it's a basier version
13:49 of the 350 I'm not a big 350 fan okay so
13:53 it's probably better than 350 I'd buy a 7h personally I I like them a lot more
13:57 than the 350s have you tried the 360 I never tried them uh Harrison's got some
14:02 oh okay yeah they're like actually I like them quite a bit okay for for a
14:06 headset I'm not usually weigh into headsets right I like headphones with a
14:10 mic but for a headset they're pretty awesome yeah they're really good I built
14:14 my first computer today how come you never told me the back of the
14:18 motherboard was Pokey um I didn't think of
14:27 it you know what guys when you're building your first
14:31 computer be careful of the metal on the outside of the power supply it can be
14:37 cold we're teasing you but it's all it's all good it's all good you did good good
14:41 work building your first computer feel free to post a picture of it on Facebook
14:45 post a picture and post the specs and when the forum's up go to the new build
14:49 section and post your build post your
14:52 build cuz that's awesome yeah have you ever built a Hackintosh um that project
14:58 is like kind of ready to go like I have the installer files on my USB drive that
15:02 I'm ready to install on the motherboard
15:06 that we brought back to the back to the lab today so hopefully soon but not
15:11 before we go to CES CES is going to be like
15:15 oh ridiculous all of our time before Zs
15:19 was kind of devoted to like finishing off projects and me starting and
15:22 hopefully finishing but that didn't happen the Forum um might still happen
15:27 it's not going to be finished well it's never
15:32 finished touche sir um yeah but it's
15:37 it's I hope the Forum Comes live soon I'm getting kind of worried um what was
15:43 I where was I going with this CES is bad and we won't finish anything before that
15:46 really no and then even when we get get back from CES for the first day or two
15:50 we're probably going to be just like managing stuff that we didn't get to
15:53 release while we're at Cs and we'll probably be sleeping cuz we'll probably
15:57 be sick I don't s sleep every year I get
16:01 like just super sick right CU there's like a million people there cuz you don't sleep there's a million people
16:05 there from all corners of the world where they've got all kinds of weird
16:09 diseases that I've never been exposed to
16:12 and uh I was going to say I've made it through Pax every year but Pax is a
16:15 weekend not an entire week so this will
16:18 be this will be a new challenge oh yeah CES is is a hall see Slick's never been
16:22 to CES this will be my fourth or fifth year now and it's it is it is people
16:28 think it looks fun but it's not fun lonus will eips make a huge difference
16:32 from a TN panel the answer is yes Forum
16:35 must be up because it's down it won't load for me too much traffic no no it's
16:40 definitely down it's down like not because of too much traffic or it being
16:45 broken we physically moved the server like that's what we were doing this
16:49 morning when he ran out of gas
16:52 um it just hasn't been a good day in
16:55 general actually no not really like the tech tips episodes the ncx tech tips
17:00 episodes we filmed at at NCI HQ today
17:03 one of them was like a build guide in an matx machine that's actually within
17:09 silverstone's classification of small form factor so this
17:14 matx tower system is actually not much
17:18 taller than an matx board it's about this yeah go get it go get it we'll show
17:23 it to them I I'll explain it in the meantime so it's not much taller than an
17:26 matx board we put dual GTX 680s in it we
17:31 put a th000 watt power supply we put um
17:35 I think we changed it is it do you have it already oh here we go all right so
17:39 it's in the Sugo carrying case and holy
17:43 crap this is one of the most difficult machines I've ever built in spite of the
17:49 fact that I did a full build guide on it
17:52 there we go in spite of the fact that I did a full build guide on it at the end
17:55 of the video I had no choice but to say say look guys I don't recommend this for
18:01 novice Builders so check this out it's not actually much bigger than a shuttle
18:05 it's about the same length as a shuttle and it's about this much taller than a
18:08 shuttle it's got a 120 mm intake in the front this is in the
18:12 sg9 okay it's got okay one of the video
18:16 cards is out now but it had dual 680s in it see like I said the matx board goes
18:22 from here to here so it's that that gives you some idea of the scale here
18:26 this is a 120 mil fan AO 140 and I'm
18:30 going to see if I can get this uh this top panel off so uh entertain them with
18:35 talk about uh what we're doing at CES what are we going to do there I'm going
18:39 to have lots of meetings we we've been so busy with other stuff stuff we
18:44 haven't even discussed what we're going to be doing at CES that much so I almost
18:48 don't even know um I know we're going to be
18:53 spending not as much time as I expected on the show floor because we have a lot
18:57 of different sweet to go to within the hotels which will be like uh a different
19:02 vendor uh will have like a suite where they'll show off specific Parts because
19:07 the show floor isn't big enough and not personal enough well that and the show
19:10 floor is extremely expensive and I don't think a lot of guys see the point yeah
19:15 if they can just hold a suite and then get in contact with the exact people they want to anyways it's not really
19:19 necessarily worth it for them um so yeah
19:22 the plan is we've got a pretty epic
19:26 internet connection hopefully so we'll be hopefully shoting out videos actively
19:31 while we're there yeah we've noticed one big problem with reviewers that go down
19:35 to the CES is that they don't release their stuff until like way after and
19:39 then it's usually pretty lackluster so our plan is to be uploading it as fast
19:45 as we can every single night okay check this out sorry stage two of showing you
19:49 guys this machine so this case holds two 3 and 1 half inch hard drives here and
19:53 here we have two ssds in raid zero down there that's two m4s right there you put
19:58 another two ssds here if you want slim line optical drive in the top okay see
20:04 that Tower cooler in there this thing is
20:07 full of stuff plugging in h see I didn't
20:12 look closely at the uh at the instruction Silverstone includes for
20:15 this case RTM guys RTM uh because and
20:20 okay they they also made a slight mistake because they show when you install the motherboard they show the
20:24 CPU heat sink installed on it that's wrong because sounds like a turbo to
20:28 install the motherboard install the four pin and then put the heat sink on but I
20:33 was thinking maybe I could put it on before it settled in or something like that so anyway I had a really hard time
20:37 plugging the four pin in I ended up having to take the heat sink off again
20:41 to plug it in and then and then I realized oh I forgot to plug in the CPU
20:45 fan header not cool not cool at all but uh
20:51 here I want to give you guys a closer look at this I think it's on autofocus
20:54 so you should be able to see so there's a Silverstone uh dual Tower he heat pipe
20:58 cooler there's some high-profile memory in there this is a really cool cooler
21:02 because it has one thick side and one Thin side so that you have enough room
21:07 for all your memory slots good idea hey there's the power supply right at the
21:11 front there with a pass through to uh
21:15 cord at the back see right there that's where that plugs in and then while you
21:20 keep talking about CEs plans I'm going to take off the bottom part of the panel
21:23 so they can see where the graphics cards go again we haven't really talked about CS PL much so I don't know okay if you
21:29 if you commit things to them now then there's nothing I can do about it and
21:32 we'll have to do your ideas so so we're going to be eating out very nicely the
21:36 entire time we're there this is coming out of my pocket all sponsored by the
21:42 company um no no no okay we'll probably
21:45 be eating McDonald's the entire time um you'll be lucky if you get McDonald's
21:51 now um yeah Samsung has an interesting
21:55 TV they releasing they released this press release go to the go to uh go to
22:00 the site uh number number number
22:14 four
22:27 203 e
23:01 cut out the audio is there audio still is there audio
23:16 now okay so we can't show them yeah we
23:19 can it's fixed now is it yeah don't worry I fixed
23:24 it all good all good no audio when you
23:27 switch it's going no there's audio now audio
23:31 fixed everyone's so back and forth okay here tell them tell them about it okay
23:37 so as you can see there Samsung released this picture and then some blurb about
23:42 how like true Innovation comes when you
23:46 like change the shape of things and all we got something along those lines
23:50 basically this huge thing about how they're changing the shape of the TV and
23:54 then they released this picture which makes me think like what why is it in
23:59 portrait mode and that's not really a different
24:02 shape either it's just a rotated shape no you turned it like this like they
24:07 can't see you right now but oh right okay well they turned it vertical into
24:10 Port mod press one okay now they can see us again so I don't understand how this
24:15 is different from taking an existing TV and just I like they they have a driver
24:20 control panel for that I think it's called you know the NVIDIA control panel
24:24 or ATI control panel and you just turn
24:27 your monitor I don't know um I'm kind of hoping it's more than just a portrait
24:32 mode TV because I don't see a portrait mode TV being very applicable maybe the
24:37 point they're trying to make is the extreme realism of the image and like
24:42 how thin it is or something it's an awful lot of hype to
24:46 generate over but then the second you try and watch a movie is it going to be
24:49 like half your screen is gone no there's no way it's a portrait mode TV but look
24:54 at the shape it's in I know but you could just take that shape and go like
24:57 this so what are you just going constantly swiv your TV no I mean it
25:00 might just be thinner I don't know but then this is
25:04 like I said this is a lot of hype to generate over thinner it's a shape and
25:08 brighter and more vibrant and more 3D which is what we probably what it is
25:14 like it since I started going to CES it's been nothing but 3D
25:19 TVs and here we are what three four
25:22 years later and it's still 3D TVs and
25:27 I'm just kind of like okay okay so last year the the big thing was um was 3D TVs
25:32 but not using them for 3D it was like
25:35 having um cisp alternating images so
25:39 that two people could watch TV at something else at the same time or not
25:42 split screen split screen game like uh Playstation TV yes something like that
25:47 has has okay here would love to hear this guys has anyone on Twitter or or in
25:52 the twitch chat actually encountered someone who is actually using that
25:57 solution are we local recording as well I don't
26:02 know yeah local recording yeah oh press
26:09 zero yay okay um what are my old
26:15 roommates where two people are playing the game at the same time seeing
26:18 different oh the that guy yeah oh okay
26:22 yeah so I don't know if it really counts so it was like Black Ops zombies that's
26:26 exactly what it was Black Ops Black Ops Fanboy but only the
26:32 zombie mod I only knew that he did it once I don't know if he did it other
26:36 than that and it was with like one of his buddies who also used to be a
26:40 roommate of ours quite a while ago um
26:44 yeah I'm ready to show them the rest of this system I don't have anything so
26:47 check this out guys so I had two GeForce
26:50 graphics cards in here two gtx680 so they were going all the way to here
26:54 there's the power supply there's the CPU heat sink you can put up to 32 gigs of
26:59 RAM in here just a monster monster machine check out that fan in the top
27:04 just like almost hilariously stupidly
27:08 full of stuff so anyway what I'm trying to say is not that it's not a really
27:12 cool case and not that it isn't a really cool machine but that it was really hard
27:17 to build in and because when you film a how to build a PC episode there's no
27:23 such thing as like running some benchmarks and doing some prep for the
27:29 episode you like you you can prep you can sort of you can read it up on it you
27:33 can sort of like you can bust around with things and see how it all works but
27:38 you have to actually build it you have to actually do every step and some of
27:41 them were just really hard yeah to do I was off in the corner with my crazy
27:46 setup of multiple servers messing around with nexam hearing like oh oh we got to
27:51 redo that I got to take motherboard out again oh I could hear the amount
27:58 frustrated that was on the other side of the room you know what it wasn't as bad as the F3 mini one though that one that
28:03 was just a weird case it's very cool very it's interesting because it's a
28:07 column yeah it's column case and again
28:11 like an impressive amount of Hardware in
28:14 a small space but but very
28:19 dense at least the power supply was a lot easier on this one than it was on
28:23 the F3 because of the short cables because of the short cable kit that you
28:27 can get with Strider series power supplies so uh here let's do some
28:31 Twitter okay you know what I'll just do
28:36 this okay so put that there get Twitter get that where's the twinkie box twinkie
28:41 box is slicks in the way right there all
28:45 right lus what tips do you have for upand cominging tech people read Lots
28:49 Reading Lots is the most important thing for upand cominging tech people go on
28:53 our Forum when it's up yeah hey hey that too going to be lots of up andc coming
28:58 typ people here uh this is for slick where can I get ducky keyboards uh
29:03 tiger Imports Google tiger Imports is a
29:06 CM Storm trigger with Blue switches worth my money what's a storm trigger CM Storm
29:13 trigger didn't you unbox one I was pretty sure you no that was a quickfire
29:16 what's the difference between a trigger and a quick pretty sure you unboxed a
29:21 trigger I guess basically they're good they're quite good keyboards okay yeah I
29:25 didn't know yay tuning in at 5:30 we're sorry we're late guys they have crazy
29:31 problems watch the uh archive if you're tuning in here move closer to the
29:35 camera look at his eyes I'm pretty tired I had no idea why
29:41 you're making me go close to the
29:45 camera uh Buy Canon last time I hate
29:48 Sony you set it back to stock say trust me that won't fix the
29:52 problem and we are using a Canon now which has this Canon camera has its own
29:56 set of issues as well oh yeah okay we're
30:00 back to like 24 minutes ago so uh I saw
30:03 a whole bunch of people posting that they had never seen anyone do the split
30:07 screen monitor thing yeah I jumped over there while you're doing the system and
30:11 like just everyone was like nope no definitely not nope definitely not
30:18 okay uh here's a good question from
30:21 Marcus um what do you expect from AMD on
30:26 at CES expect I'm going to go look for some of
30:29 my topics that I had uh that I had up so I'll get you what do you expect from AMD
30:33 at CES I don't expect much I hope for a
30:38 lot um honestly to be 100% honest they
30:42 haven't been moving that quickly lately over the last few years um but they need
30:46 to so hopefully if they come up with some crazy awesome stuff at CES that
30:50 would be great when was the last time you had an AMD rig uh alha
30:55 64 and then I built one for my parents set was Aon 64x to i l both those
31:00 processors they're amazing great great great processors and then yeah ever
31:06 since then what about on the graphics card side they've been starting to talk
31:09 about 8,000 series particularly they they do well on the graphics card side
31:13 though atti is very strong AMD ATI is very strong that you you can usually get
31:17 more frames for your dollar from what I've seen going with
31:21 AMD cards um whether that makes you buy
31:24 them or not that's totally up to you um
31:28 but yeah usually you can you can pump them really hard you can usually overc
31:31 them like crazy um yeah I don't know
31:36 but I'm worried about the processor side very worried about the processor side
31:40 but then again they could come up with something crazy so hopefully they do that'll be great at CES I mean I'd love
31:45 to see how the whole I mean okay we we talked a little bit about the NVIDIA
31:49 Intel potential merger the rumor just a
31:53 rumor guys right now but we talked a little bit about what that could mean
31:56 for the future Maybe particularly on mobile when you look at Intel's
32:01 expertise on manufacturing NVIDIA's expertise on GPU and their experience
32:05 with ARM and just like what kind of crazy processors we could see I would
32:09 love to see I mean they've talked about how they're going to focus more on it
32:13 and Oh shoot what was his
32:17 name I can't remember one of their CEOs got got outed uh not that long ago
32:22 because he said he didn't care about mobile and it seems like something they do want to do but I'd love to see what
32:28 AMD and ATI could deliver because the
32:31 only reason that Tegra has any huge advantage over anything is that GeForce
32:37 ecosystem and I'm not even talking just the graphics performance of it because
32:42 it's not that competitive compared to something like iPad
32:49 like not today or even or or even some of the
32:55 other Solutions um but the GeForce
32:58 ecosystem is the developer relationships
33:02 it is the the way that they're used to writing games that are powered by
33:06 GeForce compatibility developer relationships stuff always working the
33:10 fact that a Tigra 3 runs pretty much the
33:14 same damn way as a GTX 680 on some level
33:18 just the way that the software and the hardware are interfacing and the way that the game interacts with it so that
33:23 is why Tegra is so important right now
33:26 whereas AMD maybe not quite to the same
33:30 extent as NVIDIA in terms of developer relationships but so much stronger than
33:36 Qualcomm or Intel or I mean name anyone
33:41 else it's it's a two horse race ATI Invidia radon GeForce so I i' I'd love
33:47 for them to just kind of show up to that fight and start doing something
33:53 somewhere somewhere something um um
33:56 something interesting talking about graphics cards Far Cry 3 really
33:59 surprised me with how hard it was to run I don't think lius has played it yet but
34:03 you were a big fan of Far Cry 2 weren't you I no Far Cry 2 was terrible I
34:07 thought you liked it Far Cry 2 was a piece of crap I thought you said you played it a whole bunch of times Far Cry
34:12 1 oh loved Far Cry 1 Far Cry 1 was an
34:15 outstanding game did you ever play it you're a little young for that Far Cry 1
34:20 I play Far Cry 1 what were you like nine when it came out I don't think so I'm
34:24 pretty sure cuz I maybe like 11
34:28 I don't know yeah you were like a kid when Far Cry came out that's weird I
34:31 feel I know weird yeah I feel old anyway anyways yeah Far Cry 1 was
34:36 good no Far Cry 2 was crap the respawning guys oh that stuff was crap I
34:42 okay you know what though I I forgot about this this is a
34:46 good story Far Cry 2 I actually played it a fair bit because I hadn't really
34:50 played like I'd never played uh Grand Theft Auto or like any other sort of
34:54 open world sandboxy right okay yeah so I'd never really done the hold that
34:58 whole thing and the graphics were great and you know the Gunplay is good and all
35:02 of that um I couldn't finish
35:06 it I got a save game like all the way
35:10 deep into the game and did you play Far Cry 2 yeah but really really quickly in
35:16 once okay one of the things is that you're sick do you remember that yeah
35:21 okay you get sick so you have to get like malaria medications like sometimes
35:26 and uh what happened is it gives you like a notification that you need to get
35:30 malaria meds like soon and so one of my
35:33 save games and I I I think it was Auto is it Autos save for that game or
35:37 something like that oh no I going physically too far away to get anywhere
35:44 with meds I tried probably a dozen times in every direction in every possible way
35:48 so I would just die and I was like well I'm not starting
35:53 over cuz the whole game is just a grind my best story with that is more ruined
35:58 you start the game and they give you this package and you're supposed to go
36:01 give it to this guy but it's just like oh yeah give this package to this guy
36:05 and you can sell it so at the beginning of the game you're like oh I want money
36:08 you sell everything in your inventory you're done you can't start the main
36:13 quest but it doesn't exactly tell you what the main quest is because it's a
36:17 like uber definition of sandbox game right like amazing game but you could
36:21 just go screw off like I played this game for months and had no idea what the
36:26 main quest was had never started it had multiple characters always sold the book
36:31 or package thing eventually eventually my dad and I were
36:35 like this game is amazing but we know we're missing a lot let's go get the players guide so we can find all the
36:39 stuff that we're missing B the players guide I was like
36:42 whoa there's a main quest and it's interesting let's go actually start
36:47 playing the game that is so much worse than mine that it's not even
36:51 funny I love morwin Vlog so many hours in that game but without even actually
36:56 playing the game without playing the main quest but that's how good that game
36:59 was like it didn't matter I never got into it I think it doesn't help though
37:03 that I'd already logged like a bajillion hours on Oblivion and then I tried to go
37:08 back and play morrowwind you kind of have to go through it larly cuz I'd never played morrowwind before the
37:12 journal system in mowind is very difficult to just pick up you got to be
37:16 used to it and like once you get I think it's the tribunal expansion it makes it
37:20 so you can actually navigate to individual quests in your Journal but
37:24 before then it's just your guy writing logs about things it's happening and
37:28 it's just like a journal so if something happened couple days ago and you've done
37:33 a whole bunch of stuff to figure out where you're at at that Quest you have
37:36 to like flip through pages and like figure it out like it's not very Noob
37:40 friendly and I I I like I like I fired
37:43 it up once and I got my character and I was going to be like a cat dude and I
37:47 went like down a path and it was just
37:51 like I was like well come on what
37:55 there's no like there's no like Noob friendly like questing Zone at the
37:59 beginning a little bit but not that much the second you step like a little bit
38:03 past the line you're done and like it's got D andd rolling systems for attacks
38:08 so if you run up to something you can be like I'm not hitting you cuz you'll just
38:13 keep on rolling and if you're not good enough at that skill so like say dagger
38:17 I can just stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and never hit him like ha
38:21 ha my defense numbers are higher than your dagger rolling numbers I then win
38:26 because of the D andd system right so it's it's not very Noob friendly in that
38:29 aspect right okay well I had a topic for
38:35 discussion um why does Nero bother to still update
38:43 their disc burning software we talked about this a bit
38:47 ago uh the only thing I was able to come up with was compatibility with different
38:52 systems okay let me put it this way it still works on everything I have an
38:57 ancient version of Nero that I bought way back like early XP days back when
39:03 you bought burning software because now there's free okay so okay so aside from
39:08 the fact that it doesn't need any new functionality there's free options that
39:13 are just as good now is that is that maybe the thing then they roll out a new
39:17 version make you buy the new version make you buy the new version how they
39:20 don't make you buy it that same version runs on Windows 8 just fine no no I know
39:26 but like like no cares you have version four to get version five I'm just using
39:30 random want version five I'm just saying if you had version four to get version
39:34 five do you have to buy it or does it update I think you have to buy it yeah yeah okay so it's for people that aren't
39:38 super tech have and they're like oh I need the newest best one what could they
39:41 possibly think they need the newest best one for them I don't know because
39:45 everyone says keep your stuff updated okay why don't they just do this then
39:48 why don't they just lay off their entire development team and just just change
39:51 numbers just change the numbers and CH reskin it hire some designers to reskin
39:55 it yeah Hire One designer and fire your
39:58 entire development team like what new functionality is there in disc burning
40:02 over the last six years uh light scribe
40:06 light scribe M disk M disk doesn't require so special software is that all
40:10 done through the LG drive all done through the special laser that engraves
40:14 into the special medium nothing on the software side all right so that's just
40:17 the drive yeah so light scribe and light
40:20 scribe Blu-ray Blu-ray is it the same on the
40:24 software end okay it's possible we need a Blu-ray software Blu-ray burning who
40:28 would burn a Blu-ray I don't know I'm just saying why there might be
40:35 something okay for all of you out there who have burned a Blu-ray I'm going to
40:39 open your eyes to a fantastic world of
40:43 of amazingness that you are just going to be blown away by it is
40:49 called the archiving your stuff on a hard drive system so Blu-ray discs how
40:55 much do they cost now I don't I've never bought one last time I looked it was
40:59 around eight bucks but I'm sure it's cheaper now let's say they're let's say
41:03 they're $3 just for the sake of argument
41:07 let's say they're $3 how many gigs of data do they store on them it's 25 right
41:11 someone's going to correct us yeah but then you can get uh there's dual layer
41:15 yeah but those cost a lot I'm sure they do yeah those are actually like baller
41:19 expensive yeah so okay so 25 gigs on a
41:23 Blu-Ray so here this is this is a here we're going to do a quick price
41:27 comparison here so
41:30 nci.com we're going to look at how much
41:33 a 2 terb external drive costs
41:38 so around a 100 bucks okay so that is
41:43 2,000 divid 25 25 equals 80 Blu-ray
41:51 discs so Blu-ray it already loses time whoa hold
41:57 on okay these are okay hold on Blu-ray
42:00 disc there we go so single Blu-ray disc
42:04 oh that's a 50 gig for seven bucks okay okay so that's a and there's a
42:07 rewritable for 10 by the way hard drives are all
42:12 rewritable probably more than your rewritable disc okay I can't even see
42:16 like a there's a two pack for 30
42:20 bucks uh how much do these things cost
42:24 these can't be right
42:27 seriously okay this is worse than I
42:31 thought okay so
42:36 four okay so okay so you can get them for as little as around a buck but
42:42 that's like rose will so anything that's like a real a real brand um is probably
42:49 more like more like double that so about about two bucks each so $160 yeah so 160
42:54 bucks is what you're paying for your Blu-ray discs
42:58 oh man guys just don't do it I mean something like this is so perfect these
43:02 backup pluses are great because they come on a little like dock
43:08 thing here's a tech tip for you guys back everything up to hard drives so
43:13 they come on a little dock thing and then look at this it's basically like
43:17 the size of like a VHS cassette so you just have a shelf you like put these on
43:22 it you put a label on the handy dandy
43:25 label friendly spot with some masking tape boom you've archived your media on
43:29 something that is less likely to deade than uh than a plastic disc on something
43:35 that is much more much much more likely
43:38 to still be around in the future in terms of finding something that'll read
43:41 it easily although CD has been pretty resilient but then how useful is a CD at
43:45 this point you can repurpose it for other things you could take the whole thing apart repurpose it for an internal
43:49 drive throw it in a server you can easily swap them in and out just by
43:54 popping them onto a base station just like like that so and you can plug as
43:58 many or as few into your computer as you want you you can sync from one to
44:02 another one so you can back up from one to another they're they're faster to
44:06 write I mean do do I even need to do this the only disc solution that I would
44:11 ever see being better than that is like super super super important documents
44:15 that you write to an M disk yeah M disk I'm kind of sold on M disk is kind of
44:19 amazing but then the capacities aren't that high cuz it's only DVD yeah so use
44:24 like backup hard drives for just like pictures everything and then yeah like
44:28 hard drives for like movies and yeah everything else so M disk is like
44:33 Precious family photos or like your will baby pictures wedding pictures other
44:37 very important things super important documents like you said will stuff like
44:41 that um but other than that just go back
44:46 up hard drives don't burn to Blu-rays and like people think of it in terms of
44:50 the transactional price I think sometimes cuz I've had people make the
44:53 DVD archiving argument and they're like oh well DVD is only a couple cents and
44:56 I'm like okay it only holds four gigs so
44:59 you've got like and how much is your time
45:04 worth I don't want to sit there
45:07 burning like like you said 80 Blu-rays
45:11 and then it's not even it's not even easy to like figure out what you've now
45:16 written to that disc and which disc has cuz Okay think about it this way if
45:20 you're like wedding video part one two
45:23 three did did you burn them in chronological order did you burn them in
45:28 alphabetical order did you burn like the pictures of the hot bridesmaids on the
45:33 one over there so that your wife wouldn't see it like I don't
45:36 know is she watching this you
45:40 think it's probably okay I have no idea she used to watch them now I think
45:45 she got bored of them I mean it's Tech stuff what what does she care timately
45:50 right um what are topic oh yeah uh like
45:54 okay here's another one why do people why do you bother why do you bother
45:57 updating a phone like notepad app why do you bother writing a special notepad app
46:02 let's talk about Slick's phone because he loves his phone so Huggy much tell me
46:06 about S note I hate S note I have a perfect note app though tell tell me all
46:11 about S note I want to hear about S Note why did Samsung write a Notepad
46:15 application why did Samsung write any of the applications on that phone be
46:21 nice okay you tried to use S Note for what a couple weeks yeah I was okay so
46:26 oh did you know that the memo pad that comes on the iPhone works really
46:30 well shut up um not a lot of functionality just text input but well
46:35 that's what I wanted okay to be honest okay why did you start using S Note here
46:38 we go started using S Note for the live streams if you guys see me or lus when
46:42 we're on the streams we're ever looking at our phones it's because we have
46:46 certain people watching the audience we're not interested in talking to you
46:49 people so just no no there's certain people that are in the audience that
46:52 have our phone numbers that will text us if things are going wrong like audio
46:55 really yeah okay I do maybe your friends don't care as much but I don't have any
47:01 friends that's the issue that's unfortunate anyways text me if there's
47:05 audio problems uh that's why I jump up sometimes I'll hear my phone buzz and
47:09 then just like Dart over and see if one of my buddies is texting me saying there's an audio problem or something um
47:15 and because we keep our notes there I'm looking at pictures of the baby that got
47:18 sent to me throughout the day he's eating green beans it's pretty cute
47:22 sorry carry on um we keep our notes there for live stream so we try and
47:26 think of topics so I was trying to use S Note man that was frustrating ah if I
47:32 did like the slightest thing wrong so it would like go to a different tab with an
47:35 S note or anything like if I clicked on anything that wasn't proper it would
47:39 move away from the stuff that I was currently typing just delete
47:43 everything oh my God so like we'd be on a really long car ride somewhere and I'd
47:47 be like documenting all this stuff we're thinking of and like Googling up topics
47:51 that we can hopefully talk about so live stream isn't boring as all hell and then
47:54 I've got a whole bunch of stuff and I walk out of the car and like just sleep
47:58 my phone and put it in my pocket go open up later it's just like who nope all
48:03 your lines are removed the app is still open but all your lines are removed I'm
48:07 just like ah why so I ended up
48:10 downloading some random app I don't even
48:13 know what it's called it's called like simple note or something and it's Lally just a white screen and like a list of
48:17 the documents that you have and you just like click on them and then it brings up
48:22 just a white screen again and then you can just like type wherever you want
48:26 it's like that's exactly what I wanted all I wanted was a mirror of the notepad
48:31 app for PC that's that's all I wanted
48:34 but they had to add all this additional functionality which barely works and
48:38 then the whole app barely works because everything else barely works H we have
48:42 to do our Windows 8 giveaway so you had a question that you
48:48 wanted to use as our trivia so I'm going to brief them on who's sponsoring the
48:51 giveaway in the meantime while you go remember what it was okay one second
48:56 okay so guys the uh the Windows 88 giveaway is sponsored by Timmy tech TV
49:01 so we're going to go ahead and go to Timmy Tech TV's YouTube
49:08 channel and I'm going to try to freaking
49:12 get this going all right
49:15 youtubes.com slash I can't find the slash on this
49:20 keyboard I've had a lot of people ask me what keyboard This is and it's some AO
49:25 one I actually don't remember it's KB 178 RT KB 178 RT it's not perfect by any
49:34 stretch of the imagination but it works
49:37 and uh it kind of gets the job done and
49:41 we oh oh really no I don't want to stay on this page go away what is this oh man
49:49 British Columbia mom makes $7,000 a month and you won't believe how she does
49:53 it and it's not letting me leave there
49:57 we go leave not sponsored by that sorry for
50:02 that guys Timmy tech TV there we go
50:06 Timmy tech TV channel so he has
50:09 sponsored us four copies of oh look at
50:13 that he featured my channels on his channel that was nice of him uh he he
50:17 sponsored me four copies of Windows 8 to give away on the next four live streams
50:21 so oh another thing guys there won't be a live stream next week because next
50:26 week we will be in Vegas if we manage to
50:29 stream something on Friday oh no no by Friday night we'll be on a plane
50:33 slick yeah not going to happen we can't
50:36 do a we can't do a live stream while we're there yeah that's not feasible
50:40 he's giving me that look like he really want he really wants to live stream while we're there when will we be back
50:44 I'm sorry when will we be back oh we're not live streaming the night we get back
50:48 from
50:51 CES if I can get everything set up I'll drag him into a chair but there's no
50:55 promises I might be I might look like this in the
51:00 chair welcome to I will try but there's
51:04 no promises um so anyway have you have you
51:09 managed to figure this out yet um how do
51:12 how do you watch asy Star Wars in Windows well okay okay guys so the first
51:18 one to tweet the correct answer
51:21 100% letter for letter perfectly the
51:25 correct answer to Slick's question here
51:28 is the winner so I'm going to go ahead
51:33 and we're going to fire up Twitter and uh here we go slick come
51:40 back ask your question how do you watch asy Star Wars in
51:48 Windows and we're looking for like the legit way to do it not like going on
51:52 YouTube and searching for asky Star Wars yeah like how do you like how do you do
51:56 it like you can do this offline like how do you like the whole thing it's
52:03 it's seriously okay let's see so the first one the first one oh hold on we
52:09 have at least one correct answer uh never mind you can actually you have to
52:12 be online okay you have to be online fine but like that's not the point
52:16 that's not what I'm trying to prove like you don't have to open a browser there
52:19 we go okay here we go so wow bam Kevin
52:24 knew the answer I didn't not think that would be that easy Okay Kevin I am going
52:30 to follow you on Twitter so that you can
52:33 private message me private message me you are getting a free copy of Windows 8
52:38 congratulations Timmy tech TV is going to send that to you and uh you should be
52:43 super thrilled because does it work in Windows 8 as well apparently I didn't
52:47 know that it did but apparently so you can go watch your asky Star Wars in your
52:50 brand new copy of Windows 8 thanks guys for participating and I
52:55 hope you found it to be a little bit more organized this week compared to
52:59 last oh last week was a disaster did you watch it I ended up watching yeah it was
53:03 terrible I just I don't blame you though but like it was bad I well okay I that's
53:09 why I tried to pick something more structured you knew what a long day I'd had that day already plus I think you
53:15 have a better understanding now of how much I'm able to sleep at
53:19 night between my cat and my baby it is a
53:22 miracle that I get any rest at all it's
53:26 help for him but yeah yeah yeah it's
53:30 help the for him indeed okay here we go sound card and
53:35 headset for 7.1 gaming first of all get
53:38 a proper headphone or headset with two speakers in it agreed yep 100% 100%
53:45 agreed find some sound card that does some cheeseball surround effect if you
53:48 really want that it will be better it will honestly
53:52 sound better I have owned both and actual 7 .1 doesn't sound as good as
53:58 really good high quality headphones with
54:01 s surround soft software trickery is where it's at guys remember guys two
54:06 ears two speakers is all you need and I
54:09 know that question was googleable but pretty much any question that we're
54:12 going to be able to come up with is going to be googleable and the people
54:16 that answered were really quick yeah they were fast enough that they probably
54:19 knew they probably just knew it um and you'll always be at an advantage if you
54:23 actually know the answer which is which is great kind of the point guys actually
54:26 oh have you have you seen that virtual haircut thing no no okay uh mandatory
54:34 mandatory assignment here guys everyone
54:37 needs to after the live stream of course you
54:41 need to stay and watch us first um search for Virtual Barber Shop this is I
54:48 recognize this maybe I have this is all the evidence you need there it is use
54:53 headphones close your eyes and you basically oh yeah I have heard of this
54:57 yes definitely it sounds like you're getting a haircut if you needed evidence
55:02 that you only have two ears and you only need two
55:05 speakers that is it so there you go if
55:09 you're in a home theater setting 7.1 is
55:12 awesome when when the speakers are directly covering your entire ear it's
55:18 it's so cool though have okay did have you tried it oh yeah definitely I
55:22 thought you were talking about something no no no no iing I you were still on the
55:25 audio topic it's so freaking cool yeah know it's awesome definitely the best
55:28 thing ever you should definitely go watch it listen to it what do we got MS
55:32 DOS also well apparently it works in MS DOS as well cool yeah it works in like
55:37 tons of stuff I think it might work in uh Linux as
55:42 well got a bunch of answers
55:45 here uh
55:50 okay we have one guy who answered Star Wars well yes that would be a way to
55:55 watch Star Wars Windows carefully yeah
56:03 yeah oh
56:06 no offline mode and Safari apparently I don't know who how many people install
56:11 Safari on their Windows machines no it
56:14 yeah I Do download on iTunes and play through
56:19 quick Time Justin you're fired I like it though buy a CD
56:26 it wasn't the point guys she's Windows Media Player these guys are like trying
56:31 to legit answer like the question and it's like no no it's it's it's a trick
56:35 it's like a trick question I didn't want to say it was a command line input
56:39 because yeah cuz that's like yeah that's too obvious yeah because you could just
56:43 say like I wanted the Google search to be at least not 100% straightforward by
56:48 getting a job and buying it yes the extreme Computing you are the
56:53 winner of tonight's live stream you don't get a copy of Windows but you get
56:57 our respect you get all the internet cookies all the internet cookies OMG
57:02 slick is so hot and I think Julie isn't
57:06 the only girl who actually thinks
57:09 so no don't continue onwards keep going I will
57:16 hurt you just keep going just keep going
57:19 keep
57:25 going okay okay okay we're moving on we're moving on
57:30 uh oh big NVIDIA announcement at CES
57:33 okay I'm kind of curious about this Deacon usually tweets pretty good
57:37 stuff live from Las Vegas how to tune in
57:41 to NVIDIA's news oh we're missing this we're not going to be there in time so
57:45 whatever's yeah we're we're going down on um oh wait what
57:49 Sunday no it's during the day Sunday we
57:53 don't arrive till Sunday night oh so so
57:56 yeah we're we're missing we're missing it there's like a live show it's like a
58:00 big event I'll watch it then I have no
58:04 idea what they're uh what they're talking about but it should be should be
58:07 pretty cool maybe it's the their things can no it's probably a lot bigger than
58:11 that yeah the GeForce experience is cool but I don't think this is going to be
58:14 it's probably a lot bigger than that yeah they're making like a really big deal out of this uh what case 300 r or
58:19 692 Advanced did I say 600 R cuz I meant to
58:23 say 300 R yeah I saw that uh
58:27 um I don't know I'd go 300 R I probably
58:30 would just the more the more modern feature
58:34 set just is a good thing um I've built
58:37 in the 300 R more yeah which gives it kind of an unfair Advantage because I I
58:42 kind of know it I only did a 692 Advance
58:45 build a long time ago but it's a good case I haven't built in one I've just
58:48 seen it really no it's really good like it's easy to build in everything's
58:52 really intuitive Cooler Master does such a good job of that no I know I know uh
58:56 just I've built in the 300 R lot I haven't built in the other one so that's why I didn't actually ever give a
59:01 suggestion but I kind of would just lean towards that one cuz that's only one I
59:04 have personal experience with slick looks
59:08 familiar hey you could easily be like a a mesh
59:13 between these two guys and this
59:17 one I need a haircut well
59:21 yes I might need a touchup before we go as well
59:26 I'm like f i was you you can ask my
59:29 roommate I'm like I was planning to get a haircut literally like 3 months ago um
59:34 just never Happ Chris Barry wins all the internets we have to take the internets
59:38 away from whoever won it last time because that is the most creative
59:41 spelling of Wednesday I have ever seen there's even a
59:46 space it's not capitalized like let's try to find how many things are wrong
59:50 with this it's not capitalized capitalized there's a space there's a
59:54 space the the the D and the N the D and the N are reversed uh there's a missing
59:59 e there's a missing e
60:02 k it has like a 15 exclamation marks the
60:07 sentence isn't capitalized you don't need a like
60:11 there okay yay
60:16 Chris we love you man welcome to the
60:19 internet I have what's bit cass's infinite drive I'm not familiar with
60:23 that unfortunately maybe we should look into that after
60:28 sure um Blu-ray burners for giving others huge amounts of data without
60:32 giving them a whole hard drive and bdxl is 125 gigs okay but how much does a
60:36 bdxl cost so that still holds with sort
60:40 of what we're saying and if I ever give people huge amounts of data um it's
60:45 usually not like here archive this it's usually like here take this really
60:48 quickly and I would use I was going there
60:53 yeah I would use a flash drive man I would use a flash drive or I would like
60:58 FTP it to them or I would use a Dropbox system so for the cost of your Blu-ray
61:03 discs to match that 2 TB capacity you could buy your 2 TB hard drive and a big
61:08 fat USB drive and they're
61:12 rewritable again yeah but and you could get like a baller one like this that's
61:16 impossible to destroy Survivor Stealth for the win they're pretty epic but like
61:21 I I I understand he's trying to play devil advocate he's trying to like spur
61:25 the conversation but I just still don't think it's feasible what Summoner name
61:28 do you play and what region do you play on shout out to Henry
61:33 fam yeah I back up my Wii and PS2 games
61:37 on okay yes you can back up your games
61:41 on that's a legitimate reason to have well sort of legitimate reason to have a
61:44 burner he's actually doing it hey look at that look how the color changes when
61:48 I switch these it's better on this one see how yellow we look cuz you can have
61:51 different settings in the scenes I know but I think I must have messed up scene
61:54 one well we were in kind of a hurry in my defense yeah whatever at least it's
61:58 working want to replace my two see this is the problem that I have with the case
62:03 guys who don't use standard fan sizes and I mean I know 200 mil and 160 mil
62:08 and 180 mil and 230 they're all kind of standard fan sizes but I mean by
62:12 standard like someone actually makes replacement fans for it yeah um bit
62:17 Phoenix is doing a good job of supporting the fan sizes that they
62:20 generate and bit Phoenix fans look really cool they're one of the only
62:24 Brands they perform okay yeah no I know they Alchemy Pros are good fans I'm not
62:28 saying they don't just like a lot of people like I love KN to a fans but look
62:33 at them and then put one beside a bit Phoenix fan and just like get a
62:37 13-year-old kid to pick which one he thinks is cooler okay like the bit
62:41 Phoenix fans look awesome by that lot okay so what I should make all the
62:45 decisions in my life based on what 13-year-olds think are
62:48 cool do you have any of those in your system they're like your favorite fans
62:53 do you have any of them in your system
62:57 no but they're the best come on you know
63:01 they come on why am I fist bumping you you just
63:05 burned me I shouldn't be acknowledging this at
63:08 all they just look atrocious and like
63:12 okay if you have okay fine I will put nff 12s in the basement of my tj07 in
63:16 the basement key word actually I won't put them there I
63:21 knew you wouldn't cuz you're going to put silver Stones aren't you yeah I have air penet 21
63:26 there are okay okay okay fine here let me put it this way then if I was
63:31 building it oo I was going to say if I was building
63:36 a machine that had a closed side panel I'd use them but my wife's machine does
63:40 not use noas I have I have a test bench
63:44 with nas on it is the that's the point of the test
63:49 bench though isn't it to perform really
63:54 well no to portb sounds and stuff for fans you're using a Consolidated fan
63:58 format no no not that one no no the other test bench the one with the cougar
64:02 power supply oh we never used that one
64:06 we do sometimes we never used it has p12s on it we used we used it for months
64:11 we used that test bench almost exclusively for months because no not
64:15 almost exclusively because I needed another test bench and you said here's a
64:18 bunch of Hardware build one and I grabbed those
64:21 fans no I changed no no you don't
64:25 remember because because I changed them out when I was trying to do acoustic
64:28 testing on video cards I needed fans
64:32 that could run near silent on the actual
64:35 CPU Cooler itself so that I could take sound readings from the video card on an
64:40 overclocked CPU system without the CPU fans ramping up like crazy they are the
64:44 best fans but you didn't care about the look of it because it was on a
64:48 performance-based test bench but if it was a choice between
64:53 these and ones that didn't perform well at all I would go with these oh of
64:57 course yeah no I I love Noctua fans I just can't bring myself to install them
65:01 in my system because they're ugly but AP 121s are like they look great and they
65:05 perform they're 90% as good gentle typhoons
65:09 are you could argue as good but I
65:12 wouldn't run them at those kinds of RPMs so I would take a knock to over gentle
65:15 typhoons to be perfectly honest gentle typhoons don't look that great but I
65:18 think they look better than GED Wings aren't that great but they're pretty
65:22 good and they look really good they look really good UV UV in my system is like
65:27 awesome
65:32 yeah uh okay there was someone I promised to do a uh there was someone I
65:37 promised to do a shout out to this week and I I gotta go I gotta go
65:42 check uh I don't know what to discuss I don't have any topic Twitter QA Twitter
65:47 Q&A I forget how to do this right ah
65:50 noobs can play Shout Out shout out to noobs can playay peace bro
65:58 why did you get a no record found um uh
66:03 uh we're not going about we're not going to talk about problems with the search
66:06 function on nx's website uh have you heard about lus has
66:11 you have you heard about Vortex based video no no I've never heard of this
66:18 either I use my iPhone Notes pad Notes app all the time that's one thing I do
66:22 have a problem with is the notes app on
66:25 iOS products is kind of awesome and I have a lot of problems with the one on
66:28 my Android but then like I said I downloaded a new one which is an awesome
66:32 thing about Android and then it totally solved the problem okay we have another
66:36 Samsung topic to discuss the Evolution
66:40 Kit you mentioned this but didn't go into detail so this is this is some CES
66:45 News they first unveiled this last year so the Evolution Kit get
66:53 this this face should give you some idea how stupid I think this is I was already
66:58 kind of like uh the Evolution Kit allows
67:01 you to take your 2012 model Smart TV and
67:05 by adding a pack to the back of it to
67:09 meet the ongoing you know memory and
67:12 processing and power requirements of
67:15 smart TVs and the media and everything that's happening you can upgrade your
67:20 2012 Smart TV to the 2013 version by
67:24 putting this pack on the back
67:28 back I feel like if I was in the store I would buy it just so you would go
67:33 away just go away so you get the latest
67:37 Suite of applications you get um why do you need a pack for
67:41 applications well this is the first question that I was sort of thinking oh
67:45 okay continue sorry well I guess actually no my first question is why do
67:49 you need a smart TV at all why don't you buy a pivos AOS and hook it up to your
67:52 TV and then you'll get firmware updates for free 100% And I've heard a lot of
67:57 pro problems with the gestures tons of problems with the gestur do you remember
68:00 that Samsung all-in one that we had that we did an unboxing of yeah I tried to
68:04 demo the gesture thing I didn't get a single bit of usable footage it just
68:08 doesn't work and the gestures on the TV
68:11 at the keynote at the Samsung Canada thing the guy on stage was trying to
68:15 demo it and it didn't work at all gestures are going to be incredible when
68:20 they work really well but we're not there yet here's the thing to actually
68:24 build in the hardware that would be required to properly map the human body
68:30 in any kind of remotely reasonable real time and I'm not talking connect with
68:35 like you know a half second delayer okay it's not a half second but with it with
68:38 any kind of leg or any kind of ambiguity as to what you're doing for it to
68:42 actually work perfectly so that it can recognize you whether you're standing
68:45 like this or whether you're like you
68:48 know on the couch like this the I mean it would basically need
68:52 a computer in it and like there's a lot of little companies and some bigger
68:56 companies making some really interesting hand gester M uh programs for computer
69:00 and stuff but there's still tons of problems with them tons of problems I
69:03 mean the closest I think will be is like a glove have you seen yeah have you seen
69:08 that like weird crazy multicolored glove uh no I haven't seen that I can't
69:12 remember what they're called but it it looks like you like spilled a whole bunch of different colored paints on a
69:15 glove okay and they wear them and the gestures you can do with them are
69:18 insanely accurate okay see something like that could work and guys please for
69:22 the love of peanuts um stop asking us if
69:26 we have heard about the leap motion yes we have heard about the leap motion yes
69:31 it's cool it is not out yet I cannot
69:35 unbox it yet I have been in touch with them we're going to arrange to get
69:39 something going once they actually have units that they can ship but uh yeah I'm
69:44 super excited about it I think this could be Bridging the Gap between the
69:49 touchscreen interface and the totally not touchcreen you know for those folks
69:53 who don't want to touch their screen for folks who are too far away from their
69:56 monitor and this is uncomfortable they could still come up and go like this um
70:00 if it works then like awesome it should be really cool otherwise you know we'll
70:05 all forget about it at some point
70:10 uh apparently S node is really good on Note 2 because of S Pen support that's
70:15 kind of cool to hear but doesn't help all the incredible amount of S3 owners
70:19 of which by the way is more than any other smartphone
70:23 ever bam so like that's awesome and I'm
70:27 happy it works good for you and Spen is pretty cool but like there's a billion
70:30 of us maybe more than that I was trying to just pick a really big number that
70:35 that's a good idea do you think it's the transparent OLED display they were showing a while back no cuz if they
70:39 they've shown it before I kind of doubt it yeah because they're talking about
70:43 like whole new design and like shape of
70:46 the TV and stuff so unless they took that and shaped it
70:50 differently um I am building an x79 rig
70:53 now and Slick runs a z77 rig now so I
70:57 guess both of us will be waiting for the next chipet before we make any
71:01 upgrades I use Blue-ray for backing up my Blu-ray movies no you should use a
71:05 hard drive for backing up your Blu-ray
71:10 movies okay whoa that's a lot of sorry
71:13 if you tweet that many times I'm going to have to skip yes we are going to have
71:16 an x40 and x60 and a review comparison and conclusion we haven't had time we're
71:21 going to use the standardized test bench I'm actually going to have to do some
71:24 fancy dremeling to make the x60 fit in it but that's okay we're going to do it
71:29 um so yeah we will do that but it'll be once we get back from CES Yin Yik I am
71:34 very sorry if I'm pronouncing your name wrong um
71:41 J I get it you're GNA do it again when I start
71:45 talking at you okay so I don't know probably not
71:49 for an incredibly long time but if you're interested in that kind of stuff Google up Oculus Rift that's the closest
71:54 thinging be getting in the near future they're awesome look it
71:59 up you can pre-order them what are you
72:03 talking about which which one easily
72:06 dies sorry you those are totally totally
72:10 different things in every possible way no I wouldn't really recommend a GT 640
72:14 anything under a hundred bucks for a graphics card is not a good value and I
72:19 don't mean it's not cheap it is cheap but it's not a good value because value
72:24 is I I think of in terms of frames per second per dollar I actually had someone
72:28 giving me a really hard time on uh on Twitter because I wouldn't recommend a
72:33 GT uh or a GTX uh 650 to someone and I
72:37 was like GTX 650 is not a good value I
72:40 said and they're like oh lus not everyone you know blah blah blah can get
72:44 the best card and you guys are so focused on GTX 660 Ti and 670 like well
72:49 no actually it's you can get a 650 TI
72:53 but the difference in performance between a 650 and a 650 TI is like this
72:59 and the difference in price is like this value is FPS per dollars not just
73:05 dollars so a 640 is never a good value
73:09 because it costs like 80% of what something way better costs but it'll
73:15 perform like half as well so it's a terrible terrible value never buy entry
73:18 level video cards you got to look into the price for performance curves and
73:23 like if you're buying like a a card like that it's going to be obsolete so quick
73:28 yeah do you know where I can buy modded cases I don't know no I mod them
73:35 myself buy a Dremel and some like panels from Home
73:40 Depot or wherever you buy okay Home Depot stuff well I think that wraps it
73:45 up for now thank you guys for tuning in to our shortened live stream hopefully
73:49 two weeks from now when we do the next live stream you guys will be able to um
73:54 tune on time because we'll be like ready
73:58 and I'm sure we'll have tons more topics it's been kind of dead lately because
74:01 everyone's just kind of Calm before the storming because of CES so so we're
74:05 going to have way way too much stuff to talk about yeah instead of just like
74:09 might have to do like a deluxe like longer live stream or something maybe
74:13 we'll talk about it in the uh in the cool down from CES we'll plan like one
74:17 like a debriefing maybe we do like a three or five hour live stream or
74:21 something like that as long as we get a huge list of comments I mean uh topics
74:26 and people are willing to come around I'm cool with it yeah okay all right
74:29 good night guys thanks for tuning in
