0:09 right
0:12 switch oh I didn't check if the intro is working I had hoped to fix that this
0:17 week but uh uh well I'm pretty sure the file hasn't changed so so
0:24 no actually wait no snap because nothing's nothing
0:33 all right so we've got a great show for you guys today Colton prepared the dock
0:37 in what appears to be about 17 minutes there's not a lot of detail in it but we
0:41 love him anyway the Nintendo switch
0:45 debuts March the 3 at 299 oh oh oh terrible terrible terrible
0:52 turn off thank you and that's where the snap thing came from if you didn't watch
0:55 the Nintendo switch keynote whenever they change topics they would go yeah
0:59 which is super Charming um so the Nintendo switch is
1:03 coming the Nokia 6 Nokia's first Android
1:07 smartphone is official Nokia is joining the likes of
1:11 caterpillar now it's everybody has an
1:14 Android phone yeah where's your Android phone we I mean the Luke Droid no that
1:19 is not yours I I mean that is Google's but it is but I bought it no no and and
1:24 you didn't also Fair okay moving on HDMI
1:29 2ot about that HDMI 2.1 announced at CES what do you
1:34 got lonus uh might have stolen project
1:37 Valerie bull bull crap roll the intro I'm going to do a
1:42 search no you will not all lies all lies
1:48 that is not what happened not I'm going to deny it forever I'm going to be like
1:54 um ah who just denies everything in the
1:57 face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary can you think of anyone like
2:02 that uh uh I can't either no yeah no me
2:07 neither not a single person I can't think of anybody like that what's the
2:10 date today what are we a week away from
2:13 uh packs Friday the 13th is today lucky
2:18 right okay moving on uh Nintendo switch should we just jump right into that
2:22 let's just jump right into do it okay let me bring it hold on hold on hold on
2:25 you can't jump into it yet you got to like uh right into the switch you got to
2:30 at least put your bathing suit on you know whoa Nintendo announces the SW I
2:35 mean you don't have to
2:38 jeez Nintendo announces switch specs in an event that we weren't invited to no
2:45 not that we're salty so go ahead and talk pry salty talk about how we're not
2:49 salty I poured an entire can of salt out while watching this uh so it's coming
2:53 March 3rd it will retail for $299 which doesn't sound that cheap but
2:59 is I believe the third cheapest console
3:03 launch ever when adjusted for inflation yeah I remember looking that up like how
3:07 much has Super Nintendo costs in today dollars it's like like Neo Geo or
3:12 something was like ,000 like how much Metals in this thing you know like oh my
3:18 goodness uh anyways the the controllers
3:21 on the left and right are now well I think they're officially called joycon
3:25 controllers joycon wow joycon sounds
3:28 like something else in entirely I didn't watch the event so this is all this is
3:32 all coming to me fresh here I mean it's like coming right at me it's hitting me
3:36 right in the face I want to attend Joy con it's hitting you right in the face at Joy con Joy right in the face at
3:41 joyon man guess how much they cost I mean I missed AVN this year CU they no
3:46 longer run it during the same at the same time as CES right hasn't it not
3:50 been at the same time for like a long time yeah it's been it's been a few years but it used to be that it was like
3:55 two like long hard conventions were in
3:59 the same city of sin at the same time and uh on
4:03 like very polar opposite ends of the spectrum yeah I know it's like people
4:07 who literally get paid to have sex and
4:10 people who have to
4:16 pay I mean I mean there's a lot of cool people at CES too yeah anyways
4:22 there thank you I appreciate it guess
4:25 how much the joyon controllers cost wait
4:29 I thought I assume they would be included they are okay but if you want
4:32 why would you want more oh like if you want to use a derp Square
4:36 controller and you don't just buy a weed I've heard pro contr pro controller for
4:41 some reason yeah I know some people have been saying that apparently they feel
4:45 good I seriously hold on what was it Jimmy Kimmel who unveiled the switch for
4:49 the first time that sounds right I think it was Jimmy Kimmel um so did you hear
4:54 it from him no okay because I was going
4:57 to say he's a giant Nintendo fan boy oh
5:00 did you hear it from a giant Nintendo Fanboy maybe because it looks abominable
5:06 it does no I know the first time I saw it I was like wow that's horrible but
5:09 okay to be fair it looks really good when it's on the side of the switch the
5:12 Wii U controller with the screen in the middle okay I actually love that one
5:16 okay but but when it's on that like box it is weird I don't like that so I
5:22 think it's kind of a shoulder width question oh that could be because this
5:28 is comfortable yeah and this is just not no matter how ergonomic the thing you're
5:32 holding is it's like the whole 10 keyless versus 104 key layout for FPS
5:37 games argument you want that natural
5:40 that natural shoulder width um yeah cuz I really like my favorite controller for
5:44 the Wii U is the the main one with that said let's get in a console gamer
5:49 posture here because right now we're sitting at a desk all right so hold on
5:53 all right okay I'm I'm assuming the position here yeah no that's good and
5:58 you know what I'm actually liking it a lot more now if
6:03 you use the pillow yeah use the pillow
6:06 okay that's kind of all right that's all right but let's flip the pillow the
6:11 other way that's kind of all right too
6:14 like if I've got the controller in the lap which 90% of the time for me if I'm
6:19 using a controller uh it's the one in my lap
6:24 um so maybe maybe we're just not try it
6:27 out yeah we'll have to try it out I maybe we're not giving it a air Shake
6:30 okay hit hit me with hit me with some more Deets well you have you have to
6:33 guess how much they are oh I have to guess how much you want to buy extras I
6:37 mean if there're anything other than $59.99 I'll be surprised because there's
6:42 certain games that you need two full
6:45 sets of those cuz those are the motion controllers oh I see those those have
6:49 Motion in them yeah so you'll have to buy another one and they have like HD
6:54 vibrator things which apparently you can like feel like if someone if you're
6:57 holding like a glass with this thing you could like feel someone pouring water
7:00 in we're going to have to try it we're going to have to try it okay all right I
7:05 get it and so there's going to be like one stupid like quest in Zelda where you
7:11 have to like fill water jugs or some
7:15 crap and it'll be like this completely
7:18 contrived like yell aty DS style thing
7:23 do you remember that I have to blow the feather thing
7:30 that was so stupid they wanted to okay for the DS they wanted to show off how
7:34 like the microphone could be integrated into games so on some weird mini game
7:37 you had to like blow on the DS so You' see people like it was so dumb anyways
7:44 80 us $80 us yeah so $300 for a
7:50 controller and then to equip $300 for a console controller yeah with a
7:54 controller and then another $240
7:59 to equip all of your friends US dollars with controllers US
8:03 dollars to be fair each joy-con controller if you're playing a game that
8:07 doesn't require like the motion in each hand can be split out and turned into
8:12 two controllers sideways yeah but that I mean if we're talking ergonomics that's
8:16 horrible no it actually looks like the worst thing cuz like remotes turn
8:21 sideways are doable yeah they're somewhat usable they're all right and
8:26 but they're a lot wider than the joycon the joyon rollers are way smaller I this
8:31 feels terrible to me and that reminds me of that what was that steel series
8:35 Bluetooth controller that they 70 not 80 apparently that they discontinued almost
8:40 immediately after they launched it um I
8:43 don't remember what it was called but it was awful it was like a it was like a mobile mobile game controller uh $70 I
8:50 was wrong $70 okay so it's $69.99 yeah which is still $10 higher
8:55 than I guessed and $20 you said if they're over
8:59 50 bucks I said $59.99 cuz I think that's what everyone else is at if I
9:03 recall correctly very common I know yeah um I still don't like it and it's 70 for
9:08 a Pro Controller and it's 70 I yeah but the Pro controller isn't going to have
9:13 the two isn't going to have all the motion stuff and when I'm filling my
9:18 jug I won't know how full my jug is
9:22 except for visually yeah right which is where I would be looking and my
9:27 attention would be focused presumably someone said WTF is a Pro
9:32 Controller that's like your more standard gaming controller for the Wii U
9:37 yeah yeah and there's new ones and they look cool they have some see-through stuff going on okay so we're back to
9:44 N64 that's that's back in fashion is Apple going to redo their whole aluminum
9:49 aesthetic and they're going to bring back like the colorful the colorful iMac
9:53 hopefully I've always loved see-through Electronics imagine a okay hold up
9:59 hold up imagine like a glass razor blade
10:03 yeah I'm down 100% down yeah yeah if it
10:06 could like stand up and durability wise y when someone figures out how to
10:11 economically machine and polish glass yeah it will come like sick really clean
10:19 very clean cuz the modern deal is clean not like purple plastic that you can see
10:23 through well that and they'll use it anyway even if like they'll they'll use
10:27 it even if they make it opaque like they could do black glass yeah and it would
10:31 be a fingerprint magnet but at least you could clean it that's see that's my I
10:35 get product managers asking me this all the time why don't you like glossy black
10:39 and I'm like because it's plastic it scratches immediately scch look terrible
10:42 yeah yeah people people call me out like oh you you hate glossy plastic but
10:48 you're cool with tempered glass and I'm like yeah but you can take like a a
10:53 microfiber cloth and like whip it a couple times and all the dust will float
10:56 off and then you're fine and because half of the ISS is static it's
11:00 impossible to clean a piece of acrylic because the second you wipe it you
11:04 generate a static charge and it grabs all the dust within a 5 foot radius and
11:09 like sticks it there that's why we don't like
11:13 it all right what else he got for me hit anyways the breath of the wild is
11:18 launching the exact same day the console is which is surprising to anybody
11:22 because because they've been like moving it is there even another game yet it's
11:26 also a little surprising to everybody because they're are not a ton of other
11:31 Smash Hits coming with the console Smash Hits ah there's no smash coming with the
11:35 conso Mario Kart is called I think Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or something like that so
11:40 I believe it's the same game but you can't put a disc into the
11:45 switch so you're going to have to buy it digitally probably brand new probably
11:50 full price that's my guess or like a
11:54 little bit off but probably not that much CU tons of people are going to want
11:57 to play Mario Kart play Mario Kart with your friends
12:00 switch is mobile right yeah you can play Skyrim you saw that right yeah yeah yeah
12:05 yeah have you seen the new Mario game no I I have I have not I've been living
12:10 weird you can like Parkour in New York literally not kidding and it's not
12:15 coming out until like winter okay um
12:18 okay polygon's list of launch titles or launch window titles here perfect okay
12:23 so launch day is one two switch which is like this uh like basically controller
12:29 demo style Nintendo game you know how they always have those those are often
12:32 very fun wi Sports uh was very good okay
12:36 let me I'm going to say something and it's going to make you cry what it might
12:39 even make you die a little bit inside okay okay so you know my gaming setup in
12:44 my living room right yes where I have the GTX I think it's like a 980 TI
12:48 equipped PC um I've got the 65 in TV
12:54 I've got the Vive uh VR headset
12:57 everything's set up to be simple enough that like my son can turn it on and
13:01 switch between all the different stuff that he wants to play okay so in the
13:05 last month he has spent about 10 times
13:09 more time on the Nintendo Wii playing
13:13 Wii sports playing Wii sports that doesn't make me die inside than he has in VR no I actually totally get
13:18 it I get it like for him where both of these experiences are equally New Motion
13:25 control is actually the more engaging of
13:28 the two well there's motion control yes but pure motion control looking at the
13:32 TV and there isn't a game that's as good
13:36 as we Sports on the Vive Get Wrecked but
13:40 it's true if audio Shield's algorithm wasn't garbage it would be really fun
13:45 but a lot of the time you're just like yeah this music is like so awesome I'm
13:48 pumped Bing yeah yeah here we go and
13:52 it's totally out of beat and everything's sort of weird yeah like if
13:55 I was act like if if they actually DDR
13:58 stop it like like professionally guitar
14:02 heroed it to the point where everything was perfectly in
14:06 tune awesome yeah I would actually just sit and play audio shield for like hours
14:11 cuz even now I put up with a lot of this crap I've basically only found one game
14:14 that I or one song that I really like playing on it and it's a remix of The
14:18 Imperial March and it actually like goes pretty well but it's not
14:23 like ridiculously like fastpac like I
14:26 want to do this a whole bunch so I can remember how I have to move kind of
14:33 will a lot withi it's notes anyways so
14:38 one two switch which is actually probably going to be pretty damn cool because those Nintendo launch weird demo
14:44 game things are actually very fun Legend of Zelda which is going to sell this
14:47 console yeah 100% Legend of Zelda breath
14:50 of the wild is super sick looking it's told going sell the console Skylanders
14:56 imaginators and Just Dance 2017 that's the launch lineup four
15:04 games one two switch that's that's a
15:07 switch that's something
15:12 new okay one one two switch is going to be very cool okay has been Heroes March
15:18 2017 there okay March 2017 is like a
15:21 bajillion things there's one two three
15:24 four okay what do we got you double your amount of Sonic Mania it's a Sonic game
15:29 that does not count I am sitsa no idea
15:33 Lego City Undercover whatever that is in the spring arms arms arms is a little
15:36 rough Super Bomberman R snipper Clips cut Mar Delux is literally just marioart
15:42 is snipper Clips literally like a hair cutting simulator like sniper Clips even
15:46 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe isn't coming till April how hard is it to that should have
15:50 been sniper Clips o yeah oh yeah no
15:55 snipper out it together okay what is
15:58 this wow there's like nothing I can't find oh
16:02 no here here here search instead search instead snipper Clips down down down
16:07 there yeah that one yeah nothing Great
16:10 Clips a local uh local hair salon chain
16:14 apparently comes up before before
16:17 snipper Clips if we try to snipper Clips
16:20 $20 cut it out together it's it's paper
16:24 okay it's paper um is it
16:29 or like I don't know here can you share my screen yeah I can't but I'll uh I'm
16:34 going to bring this up if anyone else is curious what snipper Clips
16:38 is um which uh which site are you on nintendo.com okay here we go wow it's
16:44 been so long since we uh since we switched scenes that I actually uh had
16:48 that screen time out okay so I think it's like paper sex and it's
16:53 really angry Yeah Yeah from the look of
16:57 things oh not able to yeah there we go so it's
17:01 either angry or like one on top is like
17:05 I'm mad but I'm doing this yeah the one on the bottom is just kind of like
17:08 holding it in there but enjoys it smiling everything's okay
17:12 right say so Mar Deluxe yeah 60
17:17 bucks okay so there's basketball um there's a big green
17:22 lollipop and the yellow one is angry oh the yellow one has got it in for the
17:27 pink one there he's going right for it yeah um pink one's like yeah I'm ready
17:32 okay basketball okay so like a puzzle game I
17:37 don't know all right it's a action
17:41 action comma puzzles action comma puzzles cool so Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is
17:47 $60 yeah Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the same cost as breath of the wild so basically
17:52 they're going to sell already own Mario Kart 8 12 million switches on launch day
17:57 and 12 million copies of Zelda on launch
18:01 day and then nothing for months as far
18:04 as I can tell arms looks like like I
18:08 can't believe this is its own Standalone title is it like a boxing game it's an
18:13 arena you want to like play it yeah sure if you scroll down on your if you go to
18:17 the Nintendo thing SC I can't play it cuz they're going to like claim our video oh okay so maybe don't then yeah
18:22 I'll just uh I can play it for you here sure I'm just going to I'm just
18:27 going to bring this up so you guys can at least have a look at it
18:32 so okay yeah not going to play that the
18:35 first fighting game of its kind choose a champion equip your own combination of
18:38 extendable arms then a mix of button presses so it's we boxing it's it's we
18:44 boxing essentially as its own entire game but you're going to need you need
18:49 your own full set of the joycons cuz one
18:53 each one is each ARM it's an arena combat game so it's Street Fighter we
18:59 boxing and your arms extend and if you turn the controller
19:04 while you have your ARM out so you punch and then you turn the controller that
19:08 will curve the fist this is a full price game which
19:12 costs the same amount as Legend of Zelda breath of the
19:17 wild and you can block
19:21 yeah um
19:25 okay so moving on yeah
19:29 um oh right Super Mario Odyssey is the other one I was talking about okay so
19:34 you want to check out screenshots of that yeah yeah we should probably move
19:38 on because this is enough of people sort
19:41 of hearing us hate everything about this
19:45 I mean you're going to buy one anyway I love it I'm going to buy one yeah okay I
19:51 think it's really cool are you going to buy arms no okay I'm not going to buy
19:56 arms I'm going to buy I'm going to buy Super Mario card Deluxe you're going to
19:59 buy switch yeah and you're going to buy breath of the wild then you're going to
20:03 wait no I'm going to get one two switch you're going to get one two switch oh it
20:07 doesn't come with it I don't think
20:11 so the packages that I saw did not say
20:14 that it included one two switch it might I bet you it comes with a demo disy
20:19 thing with other games that aren't
20:22 that Nintendo switch included games uh
20:25 no no bundled games so one two switch is like a full price
20:30 game so I'll buy it with one two switch and breath of the
20:34 wild and then I'll wait until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe comes out and then I think I'm
20:39 I think I'm done for a
20:43 while uh let's see um Mario Kart 8 maybe
20:48 Splatoon 2 but probably not and then it's holiday 2017 far as I can tell not
20:54 going to bother bu Skyrim yeah Skyrim
20:57 not going to buy a basketball game definitely not going buy snipper Clips
21:01 Skyrim for all of the like people who don't own Skyrim on any of the plat sort
21:07 of cool it's on every platform already
21:11 like literally every platform other things that they I don't think this is a
21:15 com wants to play Skyrim this is not a no Witcher 3 never mind Witcher 3 is a
21:20 comprehens Colon's mom doesn't even want to play Skyrim there's no way this is a
21:23 comprehensive list because there was at
21:27 least one game that I saw that isn't on here and there's a few others as well
21:31 there isn't uh man what's that game that Brandon just loves and is actually
21:34 really fun I don't remember it's a jrpg it's really good it's not on here
21:38 there's a few jrpgs that were announced that aren't on here and I saw Minecraft
21:43 in the art stuff that was flipping by and it's not on here so there are other
21:46 things Skyrim runs on Linux polygon's list is not perfect Skyrims on Linux
21:53 nice that's awesome terrible that is actually
21:56 awesome all right you know Two Fire
21:59 Emblem okay like there's there's some
22:03 like pretty major games that aren't not on polygon's list so I don't know what
22:06 they're doing maybe they just don't have confirmed dates for them so I didn't put them on the list 6.2 in display 720p
22:14 multi-touch um two to 2.5 to 6 hours of battery life
22:19 can charge over a USB type-c that is a huge range how do you get six uh well
22:25 they're talking about different games and stuff so if you play that like weird
22:29 snip clip game versus like breath of the wild okay it's probably fair enough yeah
22:35 uh Chargers over type c pretty cool Nintendo not doing a proprietary to
22:38 connect 32 gigs on board expandable via micro SD very nice I'm surprised they're
22:42 not trying to sell us like a Micro SD type c $70 uh but you don't get an
22:47 included game but you don't get a game it's like okay we will loosen the death
22:52 grip we have on your wallets for accessories and expandable storage and
22:56 in return you willay pay us for the game
23:00 development we did okay is that okay with everyone cuz we're okay with that I
23:03 mean that sort of does make more sense uh 802.11 AC Wi-Fi and up to eight
23:09 switch consoles at once for local multiplayer because they do their own
23:12 little Wi-Fi thing okay done all right I'm going to get one we're going to have a review of IT everything's going to be
23:17 cool I'm going to buy not that many games but the games that I do buy will
23:20 be awesome and other news uh
23:24 razor prototypes of project Valerie were
23:29 stolen bummer they are offering a
23:33 $25,000 reward uh for any information I
23:38 don't think any information but basically they are offering a reward for
23:41 someone who um helps them get it back or
23:45 returns it and uh everyone is blaming me and Tom
23:53 Syndicate so I want to settle this once
23:56 and for all I will not
24:00 admit to stealing project Valerie you're
24:05 not you got a there you go that was a
24:10 pretty good edit this is circumstantial evidence circumstantial those was a
24:15 pretty damn good at it I am clearly still at CES in this Photograph you know
24:20 it's a little awkward that you would have that at the what that's the AMD
24:24 event um I really don't think that
24:28 anything about the ryzen poster over my
24:32 right shoulder would indicate that I'm mean I'm in the razor Booth here you're
24:35 giving Trade Secrets I'm in the Razer Booth here to AMD clearly in the Razer
24:39 Booth interesting obviously 2018 there's
24:42 going to be an AMD laptop three three screens
24:47 uh and little did they know they stole the worst idea
24:52 ever um this is clearly much better
24:56 evidence uh I don't know why he's talking about
25:00 me there though let's just do that there working see he is clearly poised to
25:06 steal it what I don't get it as for the third
25:11 piece of evidence
25:17 um okay okay now this again highly
25:21 circumstantial this is apparently a post from a post from our Forum our own users
25:27 turning on on me this is from the CES W
25:31 show to the part where lonus tells Austin they have a mutual acquaintance
25:35 who offered lonus double sticker price to steal him or her an Acer Predator
25:42 21x so clearly the offer was to steal a
25:46 predator 21x which didn't go missing not the right one bro yeah so okay I I
25:53 appreciate the evidence stuff and you try to like Dodge it obviously lonus
25:56 didn't steal it that's fine everyone is joking it's cool how the freaking hell
26:01 like I'm sorry Razer that you lost your thing how did you do that so I I asked
26:07 yeah I emailed I emailed my uh my PR guy there I'm like so is this a publicity
26:13 stunt yeah cuz it really feels like it and he's like no so but how hold on hold
26:19 on okay so I'll say this like um my my
26:25 Razor contact is a straight shoot
26:28 yeah I trust him um he's a good guy he
26:33 says no they were legitimately taken one
26:37 of the back rooms was unlocked during the last 30 minutes of the show so the
26:42 thing about the back rooms is that if you've ever been to to
26:46 like in the in the back of a CES Booth before um I saw did did you see the
26:51 inside of the parrot control room that one year when they were doing the bbop
26:55 dancing thing it was incredible it was like an entire additional parrot Booth
27:00 full of like drones and drone repair stuff and like all the sensors and crap
27:04 that were running that that that automatic dance thing anyway um so so
27:09 there there can be a lot of like back room stuff typically those are accessible through a panel that opens in
27:13 the back of the booth so all the razor staff could have been running around
27:18 doing things especially on the last day of a show you tend to be a little bit
27:22 more short staffed cuz some people have flown out early or gotten tired or
27:26 gotten sick by that point in the show so take your prototypes
27:31 home not that easy to transport they're
27:35 very fragile they wouldn't even let me pick it up yeah but so the people leaving early should take them but you
27:40 still want them there in case you have to show them to like a partner or
27:44 something I mean most they probably didn't have meetings so okay I'm saying
27:47 this you're not wrong but I also get it I
27:51 I I don't know if get it I can
27:55 comprehend what they're saying and I think I'm leaving it there that's how
27:58 insane this is I've had like terrible
28:01 things at shows have security sensors on them whether it's like if it goes too
28:05 far away from the booth it starts beeping I've had that not that hard to
28:11 do to be honest I've had like where it's on a cable I've had where there's a uh
28:16 the little key thing I don't remember Kensington lock which that thing
28:19 probably doesn't have but whatever yeah it would I guess CU it's just a Blade
28:23 Pro with a with a does this this doesn't have a Kensington lock doesn't it do all
28:27 the does mine oh I don't think razor
28:30 blades have Kensington oh yeah yeah yeah mine does oh mine doesn't so I guess the
28:35 pro does so the stealth doesn't have one no I don't think
28:39 so huh that's funny CU it's like the
28:43 most stealable one yeah no Kensington lock anyways um there's Kensington locks
28:49 there's there's security tags there's distance whatever fun fact uh LG had the
28:56 uh had the security sticker on a still
28:59 plastic
29:02 wrapped laptop for the LG Graham I was
29:05 tempted to take it off and just see if it would go off I I decided not to I
29:11 decided against it I'd already been yelled at at Sony um people people are
29:15 accusing me of Faking like me getting yelled at there but no like six people
29:21 were like running towards me telling me to get off the stage because I
29:26 legitimately did have permission just like I do normally have permission
29:30 to do the outlandish stuff that I do I had permission from one guy who didn't
29:35 communicate to everyone else that I was going to be jumping up on the stage because they were hardcore about people
29:40 not going up there and looking at Cletus
29:43 which is the um the the the big like um modular
29:49 display thing because if you touch Sony's Cletus it could be damaged
30:02 oh I did not see that kind in all seriousness though the cetus display get
30:06 it is very fragile yep so you don't want to rub it
30:11 too hard just the right amount just the right amount
30:15 um you might misalign
30:19 it I you know we lost it there yeah it's
30:22 cool just forget it everybody just don't worry about it yeah yeah um you know
30:26 what we do have to worry about is our sponsors for today y this W show is
30:31 brought to you by oh I fix it I fix it
30:35 they saved my well actually Brandon specifically a huge unintentional
30:39 sponsor of CES yeah saved my bacon at the show I thought about it I had my
30:45 iFix it kit in my backpack and I was
30:48 like should I take it should I not take it because every other year I've like
30:53 brought tools and then not ended up using them
30:57 so then he used it so much this year so
31:00 uh Brandon had it with him so I got to Acer was the first Booth I did and
31:06 immediately I there were a couple things immediately I saw the predator 21x and I
31:11 had to open it I was like I need to see the inside it ended up being kind of
31:15 anticlimactic when I get my unit I'm going to have to spend some real time
31:19 like it's going to take me a couple hours to tear it down because they have like a mid plate and stuff to really get
31:23 at the hardware yeah um but I was like immediately I have to open it and I was
31:27 like I can't believe I left that at home and Brandon's like oh I've got mine and
31:31 I'm like give it to me and he's like oh it's back in the hotel I'm like Colton
31:34 go get it so Colton went and got it um and then the other thing was also again
31:39 in the Acer Booth they weren't sure
31:43 about the drive options in one of the
31:46 laptops remember these are engineering sample laptops like even some of the hardware wasn't final there was one with
31:51 a TN panel and the spec sheet said IPS and I was like what's going on and
31:54 they're like oh uh I don't know we'll find out so they had to call q and it
31:58 turns out that on early engineering samples they just throw Cheapo TN in
32:03 them save some cost and I was like oh you probably shouldn't have that at a
32:06 trade show but sure yeah um anyway sorry I fix it right they make great tools for
32:12 uh oh yeah they've got guides on their website for repairing your electronics
32:16 and upgrading them what yeah what guy super randomly what who like the iix IT
32:22 guy I can't remember his name right now like the guy hopefully he's not watching
32:26 CEO guy oh really yeah Oh I thought you meant like our rep super cool met him at
32:31 HP oh he grilled them with me which was actually hilariously awesome we were
32:37 both talking about the omen and I brought up about how he gave the
32:40 Microsoft Surface Studio a 5 out of 10 repairability score and how that was
32:44 like kind of hilarious and true and uh we talked about that for a second and
32:48 then he like laughed at their case which
32:51 was great no like right in front of them no filter I was like you are so cool
32:58 and I've been like trying to go back and forth this is with this HP guy for a
33:01 while like man like why is your io on your motherboard so lacking and like all
33:06 because they have their own custom motherboard and like he's like uh what else do you want and I was like any
33:11 audio options and I don't know we were going back and forth a little bit and
33:14 then iFix it guy comes up and just like doesn't even wait for the HP guy to like
33:19 possibly come back with anything and it's just like d all right like bye it was really cool
33:27 terrible Savage it was awesome um that was cool anyway so iix it is all about
33:32 repairing and upgrading your electronics yourself with their step-by-step guides
33:36 and their huge inventory of replacement parts and tools with lifetime warranties
33:40 for the tools not the replacement parts um so today we're talking about their
33:45 latest and greatest allnew prot Tech tool kit which you've seen
33:50 featured on the W show and on normal
33:53 lineus tpes content in the past including like scrapyard Wars and can I ever tell you about the time that I
33:57 specifically said in a video that I was just using an iFixit kit and it wasn't
34:01 sponsored by iFixit then the video production schedule got shifted and it
34:04 ended up being sponsored by I fix it was that left in the video yeah oh that's
34:09 awkward yeah anyway it has a bunch of prying tools suction cups poking tools
34:14 cutting tools uh plying tools anti-static
34:17 tools a whack ton of screwdrivers and bits that have been enough for me to
34:22 assemble or disassemble pretty much
34:26 anything and I'm going to do this this again I've done this before and I feel
34:29 kind of terrible about it but I'm going to criticize or uh offer constructive
34:32 criticism about the product uh on during
34:36 during a sponsor spot for the product the one thing that gets me sometimes is
34:41 uh deeper um like deeper holes you'll find
34:46 them in the in the bottoms of laptops sometimes
34:51 where the where the plastic the plastic hole is really deep until you can get to
34:55 the screw so there is a workaround and this saved me on the Predator was it the
35:00 Predator whatever one of the laptops I almost didn't get open so there's a
35:04 workaround where you use one of the sockets and then you put the bit into
35:10 the socket but it would be nice to have like like a longer shaft like a super
35:16 slim longer shaft extension type thing
35:19 um that would be that would be even better but as it is I've only very
35:24 rarely been defeated when I have an iix IT kit in my hands anyway what are we
35:28 talking about again uh the longer shaft that you would like no that's not wow
35:33 okay so grab an all new Protek toolkit or their less expensive Essentials
35:38 electronic tool kit by heading over to ifixit.com Linus and use offer code W
35:43 show to save five bucks on your purchase of $10 or more highly recommended I fix
35:48 it we love their stuff we really do your shaft is plenty long I think that you
35:53 can work on all of those laptops completely fine
35:59 you be careful I might work on you that's why I know it's pun anyways fresh
36:05 prods fresh Books Okay so if you're a
36:09 freelancer um not that kind of freelancer not that
36:15 kind of I'm pretty sure most of them
36:19 work sort of under the table cash deals ca cash cash deals I'm pretty sure most
36:23 clients I don't think you can accept roses on Fresh books
36:28 wow um Wow Fresh books is totally
36:31 dropping us restarting okay so uh note for Colton on
36:37 when you're linking the sponsor leave the time stamp a little later yeah leave
36:40 the time stamp a little later for the freshbook spot one normal topic here to
36:45 like give some extra no we'll just pretend so hold on give me one
36:49 second so that's why I was telling those guys that I really just think peaches
36:54 make absolutely no sense in this context it doesn't work with the I know I know
36:58 like why Peach case yeah anyway we
37:02 should uh start up one of our sponsor spots here fresh books so fresh books is
37:06 the easy to use invoicing that that helps small
37:10 businesses look professional and get paid faster you can try freshbooks
37:14 completely free for 30 days at freshbooks.com and make sure you type w
37:18 in the how did you hear about section no time stamps why would you maybe do that
37:22 um so fresh books lets if you run a small computer repair business or a
37:27 counting or uh John apparently needs Luke for something in the closet over
37:31 there and uh if you have any questions you can reach out to their support staff
37:35 right okay so fresh books lets you create your invoices send them you can
37:39 track your hours you can track your expenses you can see when people have
37:43 seen your invoices which takes the guessing games out of that whole rigma
37:47 rooll and if you have any questions you can reach out to their support staff
37:50 where you'll speak to a real human no phone treat no escalations nothing like
37:54 that and they just got a Mobile card reader so check them out at Fresh b.com
37:58 /w and try out a free trial
38:02 today wow Al righty then so I'm by myself now
38:08 which is fine Colton everything's okay is everything okay everything is
38:13 okay everything is fine everything is
38:16 awesome uh Norway becomes the first country to kill FM radio this is posted
38:22 by dat speed on the Forum wow that poor Colton he didn't even get to say
38:26 anything um just
38:30 gone discover where Trump's America meets the world what is this this is an
38:35 ad for subscribing to The Washington Post which I definitely won't be doing
38:39 okay what am I looking at please sign in I don't think you can read
38:44 it uh uh I don't think you can read it uh
38:51 okay well whatever that article was from
38:55 The Washington Post now it's from end
38:59 gadget.com it's like why this model doesn't work
39:05 online in a
39:08 nutshell Norway killing FM radio only a
39:12 quarter of the cars on the road are ready for the switch which is more than
39:17 I would have thought cuz the switch was just
39:22 announced yeah literally get it yeah um
39:26 so Norway has started switching off FM transmitters as of January 11th 2017
39:31 becoming the first in the world to dump the 80-year-old standard they're switching over to digital audio
39:36 broadcasting this will give citizens more stations better coverage program
39:41 time shifting which is actually kind of cool so that's like VOD but odd just in
39:45 case you didn't know the acrm for that is dab digital audio
39:50 broadcasting dab I'm not even gonna yeah um that's
39:55 all that's all as far as I go uh we'll give the majority of people are against
40:01 the transition we're simply not ready for this year um someone like actually
40:07 yeah though like looking at numbers like they actually aren't it reportedly costs
40:11 between $ 120 to $230 for a dab car radio
40:17 adapter dab has been running alongside FM in Norway since I've never even heard
40:23 digital audio broadcasting yeah is this just serious I don't think so or like no yeah
40:28 no yeah I honestly I've never even heard of it I'm sorry pretty sure we've talked
40:33 about on W show but like a ridiculously long time ago like okay in my real life
40:38 outside of like a news article that I read somewhere well Canada doesn't okay
40:43 we're not going to do that in a long time okay I can pretty much guarantee you it's going to be quite a while FM's
40:47 like still pretty legit right seems mostly fine it works there are okay
40:52 there are I don't remember what they are I've read not quite
40:58 I'm stressing out right now you're fine don't worry about it um it's
41:05 ah I only it's fine there there's benefits I it's been a long time so I
41:09 don't want to say what they are because I'm probably going to get 90% of it
41:12 wrong but there are benefits to dab
41:15 whatever a broadc is cool like there's
41:19 some cool stuff but then if I was just going to like listen to podcasts then
41:24 like I don't think it's that every radio show I listen listen to has a podcast
41:28 version that I could use as a as an
41:31 audio on demand like time shift thing anyway I think it's
41:36 different
41:39 um blah blah blah blah blah blah across
41:43 Europe and Asia Pacific well that explains why I haven't really
41:46 encountered it much yeah I'm sure everyone in twitch is just telling me
41:49 I'm a complete idiot but they're saying daab not dab
41:54 whatever yeah who cares that was it learn it learn to learn to love it cuz
41:59 it's not going away we're not the only ones that are going to make that joke either um okay the signals are so bad in
42:06 whatever uh dab will suck because FM you
42:10 can still hear with a bad signal dab is All or Nothing yeah okay sounds about
42:14 right that sounds terrible
42:17 um yeah I I I think I sort of get it uh
42:21 the the dab standard was initiated as a
42:24 European research product in the 1960s the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation
42:29 launched the first dab channel in the world so they're trying to do that again
42:33 okay cool um well good luck with
42:37 that I really do feel like an old person though cuz I was about to say like it
42:41 was halfway out of my mouth to say whenever I turn on the radio I just want
42:45 to hear whatever's on there right now like I have no I have no use for
42:49 fiddling around with it but I sound like my parents talking about like too okay
42:54 but there's both cuz you'll also listen to other stuff like through your phone
42:58 and stuff and I will do Bluetooth through my phone or if I'm like that's
43:03 screwed up or it's paused or whatever I don't feel like pulling it out whatever
43:06 FM on and it goes on to one of the two radio stations that I listen to and I'm
43:09 like cool I have something that's all I really care about for now I'll fix sit
43:13 later or if I'm going on like a long drive I'll make sure it's all good my
43:17 podcast whatever right book from Bill NY whatever I'm currently listening to I
43:22 don't think we've had audible book audible as a sponsor for a while yeah it's been a while but I listened to
43:26 books through there all right so uh in other news the Nokia
43:31 6 Nokia's first Android smartphone is
43:35 official and it is totally different from every other Android smartphone
43:40 smart totally different four gigs of RAM
43:43 Snapdragon 430 64 gigs of storage micro
43:47 SD 16 megapixel main camera which means nothing by the way 3,000 milliamp hour
43:51 battery 5.5 inch display 1080p resolution Android nougat OS 245 bucks
43:57 launching in China it will go on sale in early 2017
44:02 available exclusively through retailer jd.com see that's different the price is
44:06 good yes the retail exclusivity is
44:09 different not good at all um well do you
44:14 really want one no so even if it's not good it's not bad it's just well it's
44:19 bad for people that do want one who would want one I don't know it
44:23 represents the modern design ethics of a smartphone except for
44:31 ashes good call okay well thanks John in other news
44:37 uh HDMI 2.1 was announced at CES so the
44:40 original post here is actually from ABS Forum yeah so it includes this is like a
44:46 very significant upgrade so HDMI 2.0 which took long enough to get adopted
44:51 went from 10.2 to 18 gbit per second so that gives us 4K 60 Herz HDMI 2 2.1
44:57 looks to be taking on DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 head-on uh 48 GB per second so
45:05 HDMI 2.1 is designed to handle 8K
45:09 resolution at up to 60 FPS 4K at 120 FPS
45:14 although that math doesn't quite work out with support for dynamic HDR
45:18 metadata so Dynamic HDR is different from static HDR which is what we have
45:22 today the final spec to be announced in Q2 of 2017 at which point all of your
45:28 fancy new HDR TV and 4K whatever can
45:33 just get wrecked well this is great because no
45:38 matter how cool DisplayPort and stuff is HDMI sort of
45:43 wins this is fun the original article here is from Liv science or
45:47 livescience.com this the US Army wants
45:50 biodegradable bullets that Sprout
45:54 plants make love at the same time as
45:59 War cuz it's all like hippie and whatnot right you know you got plant some plant
46:03 some plants I think it's cool kill some people so here's what I
46:10 here okay so currently here's the
46:13 explanation currently the US Army manufactures and consumes hundreds of
46:17 thousands of training rounds oh training
46:20 rounds so they don't intend to actually
46:23 plant plants in the countries that they are stomping on yeah now it makes more
46:29 sense back home these rounds are fired at Proving Grounds and training ranges
46:34 in the United States and around the world the materials in the current
46:38 training rounds need hundreds of years or more to
46:42 biodegrade so the US Army Corps of Engineers cold regions research and
46:46 Engineering laboratory skur has
46:50 demonstrated bioengineered seeds that can be embedded into the biodegradable
46:54 Composites and that will not germinate until they have been in the the ground
46:57 for several months so if you just like change your
47:02 targeting range every several months then it'll turn into a patch of trees I
47:06 guess or plants in general that's
47:10 cool okay hooray Consumer Reports now
47:14 magically recommends the MacBook Pro well it's not magic it's a software
47:17 update that apparently fixed the battery life issues what I want to know is how
47:21 fast the processor is running now but that's a whole other conversation um so there you go
47:26 basically uh one model ran at 18.75
47:31 hours on a charge which is pretty
47:34 fantastic uh they tested each model multiple times using the new software
47:38 following the same protocol that they apply to hundreds of laptops every
47:43 year um so earlier when they evaluated
47:47 them the results were highly inconsistent anywhere from 3.75 to up to
47:51 192 hours between charges which is obviously a bit bit of
47:57 a problem so what I another another option cuz you ran into some serious
48:01 issues when you were trying to do battery life testing on Windows 10 yes
48:04 where you would have ranges of hours like many hours on the same laptop yes
48:10 doing the same test back to back um so
48:14 Luke's theory is that it has to do with a bunch of telemetry and um background
48:19 services and processes fun stuff that Windows 10 is doing and even with a lot
48:22 of there there a lot of guides like stop Windows 10 from creeping on me guide and
48:27 stuff which turn off a lot of it but it's still fishy right there's still
48:32 weird stuff Windows 10 and it's hard to
48:37 monitor because if I'm going to monitor it it just like massively increases the
48:41 time that I'd work on the project and it changes it like you have to actively be
48:45 there and there's a lot of yeah it makes the scale kind of
48:50 ridiculous Chrysler pulled a VW cheated
48:53 their emissions test oh still loading and gadget.com
48:56 but the EPA says Chrysler is violating
49:01 the Clean Air Act how long is the Clean Air Act going to
49:07 last well actually probably a long time now CU they're just going to sue the
49:11 crap of them oh um blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
49:18 Trump also made specific and ambiguous promises about energy environmental
49:22 statutes like the Clean Air Act um blah
49:26 blah oh okay well not sure okay okay I I
49:30 had thought I had read something saying that he had act an actual plan for it
49:33 but I must have been mistaken uh okay I love how software
49:38 like this must have been a really rough week because like slack being on the
49:41 Windows store yeah well we I mean that's the
49:46 thing about CEs it's like there's nothing the week before then it's like
49:50 boom and then there's nothing right after and then there's nothing right
49:53 after um unless like something that happened the week before CES gets stolen
49:59 for example yes yeah then there's something yeah um so or is HDMI
50:03 basically the EPA is alleging that they installed software in some of their
50:08 diesel vehicles that increased emissions beyond the company's claims EPA says
50:12 that light duty model year 2014 2015 and
50:15 2016 Grand Cherokees and Dodge RAM 1500
50:18 trucks with 3 l diesel engines sold in the United States are releasing excess
50:22 nitrogen oxide emissions they alleg that approximately 100,00 Vehicles were
50:27 covered in the claim uh so it's to a lesser degree yeah uh than vw's
50:33 controversy it's only about a fifth as many vehicles um so what Fiat Chrysler
50:39 automobiles is denying any wrongdoing at this time so we'll see how that goes
50:44 yeah I would be interested to see what a
50:48 law would look like that punishes
50:51 offenders more severely for denying it
50:58 I would be interested to see like if be if you screw up in a way
51:03 that's like cheating if the money that you have to
51:06 pay goes towards competing Industries H
51:11 so if you have to actually so if Chrysler had to pay Ford like if somehow
51:15 let's well no no no no competing Industries so it would be like say like
51:20 solar panel companies somehow cheated at something yeah they'd have to like pay
51:25 Big Oil yeah probably going to go in reverse just to
51:29 be fair but like it would be interesting to be like yeah if you cheat and you get
51:33 caught you will directly Aid your competition very interesting like
51:37 industry competition not like the
51:40 company that's doing the same thing as you I think that would be interesting
51:45 and not like you wouldn't give it to like Tesla but you'd give it to like the
51:48 grants that Tesla gets interesting you know like the the like electric car like
51:53 you buy it and you get money off or whatever it like goes towards that so
51:56 would be subsidizing people to buy
51:59 things that aren't yours into a competing technology that would get so messy so
52:05 fast yeah it would uh so there's a rumor
52:09 over on um wccf Tech that the 1080 TI could
52:14 possibly be released at PAX East I
52:18 personally doubt it me too I don't know
52:21 anything for sure but I doubt it has NVIDIA cared about PX East since when
52:27 has anyone cared about oh game tabs I guess yeah because it's like the first
52:30 packs of the year so that's actually why packs Prime interesting stuff in terms
52:35 of games at Hardware does not have a
52:38 very strong presence there yeah we know that from experience yeah it's really
52:42 hard to make videos at paxis it's it's it's easy to make videos
52:49 at CES they're just often isn't like my
52:52 problem would be like okay this is my 14th case um
52:57 I don't know if I can make another video about cases without people getting mad
53:01 uh but like at PX East I bring a case
53:06 please show me something there's like
53:09 never anything there some RGB some tempered glass just just just something
53:13 make something out of RGB and tempered glass we'll be fine the problem is all
53:17 the hardware guys just went to CES yeah
53:20 so like the uh I don't know okay I'm going to tease an upcoming video cuz I
53:25 just can't oh man and really I just can't contain this speaking of RGB
53:34 okay I have a video on how you to can
53:37 own the world's most I'm not going to show it to you guys too too too well
53:42 here but the world's most shiny RGB
53:46 keyboard
53:50 ever someone's just going to grab that
53:53 frame and then have it yeah yes I don't
53:57 know if you can recreate that though you really have to like see it in Glam
54:00 footage um we should do like a build
54:03 called like the RGB build yeah we should and have but no no no no we should do
54:08 that too okay that we I think they were they were supposed to pit it to someone
54:12 but anyways yeah um we've been meaning to do that forever you know Kyle just
54:16 did one right yeah yeah whatever I wonder how long that's been on the list
54:20 I should go back in like the uh the like the doc like history and see when we
54:25 added it the original like Corsair RGB keyboard we can one up him though I
54:29 found an RGB SSD at uh yeah at CES
54:32 there's and I have some more plans too I want to like sink with room lighting and
54:36 stuff anyways um chroma I want to do an
54:39 RGB build where we have like it would probably have to work with like levers
54:43 or something but like manually literally
54:46 just red green and blue and you can like change the colors of the panels on your
54:54 case maybe was like cloth and it like
54:58 rolls up you just show it here's what
55:02 I'll say about this idea some of your ideas are really
55:07 good I
55:12 think we should totally do it come on Twitch chat you just want you just want
55:17 a pizza heating PC for 2017 don't you oh
55:21 I'm going to make number two I think number two Pizza Machine yeah I need to
55:25 work with some someone cuz I want to make it like really nice but I have some
55:28 ideas I need it like machined and stuff
55:32 like it's going to be sick what I also want to have like a pizza oven like
55:35 built into it so you could cook it and then like keep it heated no we we've got
55:41 some ideas Pizza heater 2o is going to be
55:44 real we better get more dislikes this time anyways um real RGB
55:51 PC yes yes yes oh wow you can't put all
55:57 yeses in the answer for a straw pole I didn't put all yeses I just put three
56:01 yeses no terrible there's just three
56:04 different yeses okay well while you guys are voting on that um I will use this
56:09 opportunity to tell you about the flow playe Club hooray
56:14 hooray and I'm going to post that instead of Luke's garbage so that yeah
56:20 it's going to be a competition for you shouldn't be you shouldn't be fighting against my Floatplane Club posts you
56:25 want Floatplane Club to be a success right I want to say that's right people
56:30 that are on the Floatplane club I'm sorry about the CES stuff the plan was
56:34 you guys were going to get videos like as soon as we're done editing them and you're going to see them early and then
56:38 like eight of them didn't go up so I'm
56:41 pretty not stoked on the fact that that
56:45 happened and uh but the idea behind it
56:48 is that we have our own Early Access platform which is actually a lot better
56:52 than the last time we talked about it 20% of people are saying no 20% of
56:58 people are saying no that's a lot for like a video suggestion yeah maybe we
57:03 don't have to do it the real RGB PC oh yeah no no we do not have to do that um
57:09 maybe so so it's basically it's our Early Access platform uh the way it
57:14 works is oh it's 19 now maybe we should
57:18 maybe we should yeah 20 is like a hard stop that's a hard threshold oh it's
57:22 back up to 20
57:28 terrible um I want to see if there's any
57:31 way for me to show this without showing anything that I shouldn't show I don't
57:35 think so there might be you'd have to like do a weird Zoom but
57:39 maybe okay so that would
57:42 work okay so basically here we go I will
57:46 do this very carefully oh God I will do
57:49 it very care like ours I will do it very carefully okay so this is John and this
57:54 is his post hi John post of a video
57:58 there's a video that I can play Hey look
58:01 how fast it started playing hey look at that wasn't that cool and then I
58:06 could hold on hold on and then I could go full screen oh dang it careful when
58:11 you come back out of it maybe maybe switch to full screen I'm not going to
58:16 come back I don't know but it was really
58:19 scary so anyway that's a Techquickie video that right now is not on YouTube
58:25 so basically Luke Al built uh a video
58:30 streaming platform Luke Al Al it's um
58:33 it's like and Company Oh e t a l yeah um built a video
58:40 streaming platform there's still a lot of stuff that is very much in progress
58:44 there's some really cool things that I think I want to like how much do you
58:48 want to talk about okay I think I want to relase you want to show that page video no we can't show that page even if
58:53 we don't show the IP let's not show that page you that page see my theory is I
58:58 think I want to launch a video on the Floatplane Club about those pages okay
59:03 all right so we show it to Floatplane Club first yeah fair enough okay anyway
59:08 so what we're working on is better image quality we're going to have Early Access
59:12 uh we're going to try and have a less toxic sort of community Vibe compared to
59:16 YouTube which was something a lot of vessel viewers were really upset about
59:20 losing uh right now everything is done through the Forum but in the future and
59:25 development is is how in progress very
59:28 much so in progress and it looks amazing
59:31 I just want to say like damn for everyone that's worked on it back end
59:35 front end middle CMS low end Top End
59:40 Eric cat lonus but not this one
59:44 different lus actually everyone that's been like oh very good very very
59:51 good um all
59:55 righty Henry on Twitch says who the
59:58 three asterisks
60:02 asteris thinks we're toxic wow twitch
60:07 chat twitch chat twitch
60:12 chat anyways I think anyway link one
60:15 more time there so you guys can join um that's what we're calling it it's three
60:20 bucks a month yeah right now it's very very early
60:25 access but um yeah I think that's pretty
60:28 much it right yeah do we have anything else nope okay you have to get to your
60:32 thing yeah I got to go I've got like badmon classes I need to like leave I'm
60:36 saying like you need to go okay bye yeah
60:39 bye everyone animation I don't think there's
60:42 music one it's like YouTube isn't toxic you're
60:46 toxic that's you saying that is toxic
60:49 chiz Pizza Bear YouTube comments are canc are worse than cancer and I've had
60:54 cancer I don't believe you actually had cancer if you say something like that
60:58 I'm pretty sure cancer is actually like very terrible compared to YouTube
61:02 comments good night everybody
