0:00 right guys welcome to the W show here do you want to scooch over where we debate
0:05 whether or not it's okay to say the word but hurt on the W show I personally
0:11 think it's okay because that okay hold on hold on hold on hold on because it
0:15 can't really be uh like okay H without
0:18 this getting too V hold on just cuz it's
0:22 not it's not a sexual preference thing everyone everyone has a butt and there's
0:26 plenty of okay there's plenty of stuff that can be
0:30 of sexual orientation it's not you know a female or male thing everyone has a
0:35 butt everyone's butt can
0:41 hurt yes okay ignoring the gender thing
0:44 entirely you could even take it from The Stance of like well what stance would
0:48 you take it from exactly usually a slight anyways um but
0:53 you could take it from like a fwell skateboarding yeah butt hurt your butt
0:57 would probably hurt as long like a you
1:00 know a rail or anything like that lots
1:03 of things could hurt yes well and like of course while falling while skateboarding anything else could hurt
1:07 but if you f while skateboarding on your butt your butt would probably hurt your
1:11 butt would probably hurt I also know people that have had tailbone injuries which usually reference that as a butt
1:15 injury right unless you were wearing a helmet on your butt yeah yes butt helmet
1:20 Kim Kardashian probably needs a butt helmet a butt I wouldn't think so I
1:23 would think it would be more she has like a built-in air
1:27 bag yeah didn't one of her sisters have her butt in implants leaking or
1:31 something like wasn't that I don't know they're gross I don't even find them attractive to be completely honest no my
1:36 my whole thing is this is I get all of my celebrity gossip from the from the
1:40 magazine stand at the grocery store because I go to the grocery store
1:44 exactly often enough that I'm hearing about it within my tolerance for how
1:50 much I can hear about it and and I'm not
1:53 learning too much you don't like watch TV or anything really but I'll also be
1:57 aware of sort of what everyone else is talking about stuff so I find it's a
2:02 good balance for me right so this this week on The W show
2:06 NVIDIA did a bunch of things and people didn't like it um and so did Comcast no
2:11 one liked those either Comcast did lots of stuff people didn't like um the FCC
2:16 did stuff people liked and what else we got and there's uh Oculus technology
2:21 that can make it so you don't see advertisements in real Oculus technology
2:25 it has nothing to do with oculus and it isn't even it isn't even virtual reality
2:28 it does have stuff to do with oculus well it's augmented reality it uses an
2:31 OC it has to do with Hollow lens it uses an Oculus you use an Oculus it is you
2:37 use an Oculus you can't we're trying to have a debate here and you're ignoring
2:40 the things I'm saying that are
2:44 true seriously look the guy's looking through an Ulus with a camera in the
2:47 front of it I could argue that someone looking through any kind of of optical
2:52 viewing device is looking through an are mainly based off of the windshield yeah
2:57 it's a windshield Oculus
3:02 I hate this show doesn't even make any
3:05 sense our sponsors today our Square Face
3:09 they're going to have a Super Bowl Oculus and Loot Crate you might just be
3:15 looking at your loot through an Oculus craze and finally I fix it need to fix
3:21 your Oculus bam right there they've got the tools for you to get that job done
3:26 so thank you to our sponsors
3:30 let's move on with the show yes it is still Christmas yes we know the problem
3:34 is that Luke's Twitter handle isn't fixed on the non-christmas one and we
3:40 did promise as part of tip Starter by the way we still need to do the body paint one that's going to be hilarious
3:45 but one of our like a few yeah one of our tip starter commitments was to fix
3:49 Luke's Twitter handle so if we undo it now then we're basically terrible people
3:52 toally screwed up okay so let's see we have done the well okay the Twitter
3:57 handle thing we released the Stormtrooper rap audio we did WOW as
4:01 girls we did LTT Under Fire we have not done body paint we still need to do
4:05 clown costume wow and body paint and we
4:08 need to get wingardium get the bleep back to work Luke so we need to get our
4:12 Harry Potter uh Daniel Radcliffe a
4:16 standup cardboard guy to stand over your desk and we need a speech bubble as well
4:20 oh that's going to be awesome it's going to be kind of great I'll look to that
4:23 for inspiration every time I find myself on imager all right so what I think we
4:28 need to do here is is basically just get
4:31 right into the big topic this week I
4:35 mean um there there was an absolute bomb so
4:41 the the the story kind of broke simultaneously on overclock.net and on
4:46 Reddit with people running a utility where they discovered that's usually how
4:50 Reddit works yeah yeah so so users of
4:54 gtx970 graphics cards were running a utility that was showing them the memory
4:58 uh the memory bandwidth they were getting from the board's vram sort of
5:03 block by block as they made their way through the entire capacity and what
5:06 people discovered is that the first three and 1 12 gigs of the four gigs of
5:10 advertised vram were running at full speed and that the last 500 Megs or so
5:17 we're actually running at a speed of about 17th the rest of the vram so initially
5:23 NVIDIA was saying not a whole lot of much of anything and they were just kind
5:27 of going we'll get back to you on that
5:30 and then from there NVIDIA kind of
5:33 reached out to some key members of the press so the articles that I personally
5:37 read were on a non-tech PC per as well
5:40 as tech report since I have a lot of respect for the Ryan and Scott it's like
5:46 ran and Ryan Smith Ryan Shrout they're
5:49 both Ryan I could call them I could call them Shrout Smith and wson there you go
5:56 no one would know what the devil I'm talking about and a Smith and Wasson
5:59 kind of sounds a gun I actually recognize uh and when you fire it it
6:04 goes shout yeah I actually recognize shout more than
6:08 Ryan I don't know why he does go by that okay yeah so anyway so I read their
6:13 articles and basically NVIDIA reached out to these guys and explained in much
6:17 further detail than we had been had access to in the past how exactly the
6:23 memory controller works on the GTX 970
6:28 now the gtx980 is completely unaffected by the issue because it features all of
6:33 the RS all of the cach and all of the
6:36 memory controller goodness of the Maxwell uh excuse me uh GM 204 chip
6:43 whereas the gtx970 has instead of what we've seen in
6:47 the past where we'd have like a a chunk of memory controller R smm caor where
6:53 we'd have an entire unit kind of shut off the gtx970 only has it sort of
6:58 partially shut off so the way that that works in the real world is you don't get
7:03 the cash you don't get the RS but you do
7:06 get to put the memory on the card and you do have access to it albeit at a
7:10 significantly reduced data rate so what that means is NVIDIA's done some Tom
7:15 Foolery with the drivers and the firmware of the card to ensure that the
7:18 first three and 1 half gigs the high performance part gets used first and
7:23 some applications will see that as a limit While others will fill up the rest
7:28 but only once it's done with with the first 3 and 1/2 gigs now this is still
7:31 faster than swapping out to main memory over PCI Express although not by as much
7:37 as I would typically like uh can I help you with something yeah go to that link
7:41 and put it on screen oh yeah for sure uh
7:45 oh your thing's different that's why yeah I'm not signed into what the I got
7:49 signed out too I don't know what's you are logged in successfully you can now
7:54 refresh thanks for that super useless page what the heck was that anyways guys
7:59 give just one moment I'm trying to get a diagram on screen so people can know
8:03 what you're talking about this is the one where it shows the crossbar yeah you I'm sure you've seen this um it's just
8:08 it's helpful there we go there we go okay so got oh oh oh um hold on I can
8:14 just post it in chat but like I want the
8:18 archive viewers to be able to see it okay just Z just Z like you guys too
8:21 just just Z oh um oh that's weird I'm
8:25 going to post it in chat in the meantime oh we didn't check that today oh that is
8:30 extremely unfortunate hold on a second uh well I'm going to let the I got it I
8:34 got it I got it I got it I got it okay we have a directional HTMI cable and
8:38 it's going the wrong way way yeah fun oh I love the show I love the show
8:45 best show on the internet the more I say I love this show the more you guys know
8:50 that I am hating my life right now
8:53 yeah I love this show let's plug this
8:57 baby in it's the best show on the internet
9:01 and let's go it's got the greatest Technologies running it they've got
9:05 completely the improper mic they have a mixer and a condenser which is not even
9:09 plugged in it's not even it's not a condenser what is it it's a compressor
9:13 compressor one does not condense One does not simply condense
9:19 audio all right you could condense audio you just have to take like a
9:23 two-minute audio clip and put it into one minute you just like fast it's like
9:27 fast forwarding audio all right so uh basically the way it works is and this
9:31 is perfectly normal for CPUs gpus RAM
9:35 whatever else the case may be when something doesn't get baked just right
9:40 and there's a couple bits that are broken what they'll do and and this
9:43 diagram shows it pretty well so here's the level two cache that's disabled here
9:47 are some of the SMS that are disabled is what and and they won't necessarily be
9:51 in this spot like if this SM is broken and this one and this one or something
9:56 that's fine too that part becomes a GT
9:59 x970 instead of a 980 so basically we've got all the memory controllers and this
10:04 was something that we'd never seen before NVIDIA being able to with a great
10:08 degree of granularity disable only
10:12 certain parts of the chip so NVIDIA's
10:15 story and I I think I'm with the other guys on this one I I think I believe
10:20 this is that the engineers and the
10:24 technical marketing guys weren't synced up correctly on how this worked and the
10:29 technical marketing guys assumed that they couldn't disable with this level of
10:33 granularity and gave an incorrect spec
10:37 initially for the gtx970 saying it had the same number of
10:41 rups as the gtx980 and the same amount
10:44 of cash which in the end it turned out
10:48 it did not so NVIDIA kind of went yep hey whoa we y we flubbed on this and uh
10:54 and sort of you know that that's all very well and believable but I think
10:58 where people are truly upset
11:03 is because NVIDIA is now saying so we
11:06 we've gotten further into this NVIDIA is saying blah blah blah yes it's by Design
11:11 here we're showing you how the crossbar works and how the communication works
11:14 because NVIDIA is saying that this is by Design I think the reason people are
11:18 upset is because for all intents and purposes the
11:21 gtx970 you said it does have 4 gabes of
11:27 gddr5 memory on it but given that an
11:31 eighth of it runs at only about 50%
11:34 faster than swapping out to system memory the reason people are upset is
11:39 because I mean is that really usable it almost doesn't count it's there sure
11:43 whatever I guess you can put that on the box but like it's not really effective
11:47 and that's kind of bull crap now I've seen a lot of different arguments here
11:51 um things like uh AMD tweeted actually
11:54 we've got a we've got a link to this um
11:58 here we go so Robert HCK from AMD tweeted oh oh AMD 4 gigs means 4 gigs um
12:06 which been taking shots all over the place yeah they've been just like
12:11 they've got like NVIDIA in the headlock and they're like yeah how's your kidney
12:14 like that one yeah how about this one yeah um but quite frankly I see some
12:20 parallels that people are drawing that I can kind of get on board with like the
12:24 fact that both AMD and NVIDIA advertise
12:28 dual GPU graphics cards as having 8 gigs
12:32 of RAM or 6 gigs of RAM when anyone
12:35 technical enough knows that effectively
12:38 it's only half that amount a lot of people don't know that a lot of people
12:42 don't know that and to me that has always been a very gray way of
12:48 advertising but honestly that was a confusing thing when I like first got
12:52 into computers and they first started releasing those cards I was like oh
12:55 sweet they just like ramped everything up like even even knowing how that works
13:00 I just assumed that there was just more RAM but that is not how it works so so
13:05 again that's always been very gr to me but the thing that made it somewhat okay
13:10 is that without really doing any digging an educated user could go and read up on
13:15 it and they were always very upfront about doubling a vram by adding two gpus
13:21 each with their own frame buffer does not effectively double the amount of
13:24 texture information that you can store in the video memory with this one
13:31 it really feels like having been at the
13:34 Maxwell launch event it really feels like they were intentionally not giving
13:39 us any more information about how Maxwell worked than they absolutely felt
13:45 like they had to and I feel like even though they screwed up perhaps
13:49 unintentionally in fact I'll tell you what I'm going to say I believe them I
13:53 believe that the r and cash thing was unintentional because there are
13:57 utilities that'll even pick up the GT x970 doesn't have the full two EGS of
14:01 level two cash so this that one we probably should have noticed but the
14:07 fact that they didn't tell us that an eighth of the memory was running at a
14:10 significantly lower speed I don't believe they didn't know that so the
14:15 fact that they decided not to tell us um
14:19 and waited for this to come out means they either thought no one would ever
14:23 notice which again seems very unlikely I
14:26 mean NVIDIA knows that obsess
14:29 like uh like shroud over at PC per the
14:32 guys I listed before Scott at tech report Ryan at a ntech Ryan Ryan Scott
14:37 they they they they know that these guys are going to obsessively poke and prod
14:40 at this thing surely they couldn't have imagined that no one would figure this
14:44 out at some point so was it stupid was
14:47 it mismanagement was it deception I
14:51 don't know Mis communication for like a crazy long time cuz one of the engineers
14:56 must have seen some documentation at some some point in time that was
14:59 released by NVIDIA and been like that's not actually right and even not that's
15:05 not actually right but even just something as simple as a memory
15:09 bandwidth spec I mean if they had done
15:12 something kind of shady like average it
15:16 like if they'd kind of gone okay well like it's a weighted average you know
15:20 seven portions this and one portion that and kind of gone here's the memory
15:25 bandwidth of the card if they had done something like that I kind of mind have
15:29 gone yeah okay they were it's gross but sure I guess super groy and if they had
15:34 been up front and said okay well look we're rating this as and they put an
15:38 asterisk on it look we're rating this as a as an average
15:42 um like I I'd have felt a lot better about it but right now it really does
15:46 feel like we were intentionally deceived about the fact that some of the memory
15:50 doesn't run at a faster speed with that said it's it's like you buy a box of
15:55 cookies and 1/8 of the cookies is 17th
15:58 the size of all the other ones yeah like seven of them have like cream cheese
16:02 icing and like one of them has lard on it and it's like well you probably
16:06 weren't going to finish all seven of those because they're really rich and
16:10 delicious and big so the fact that one of them has lard on it shouldn't be an
16:13 issue to you but I that still bothers me
16:17 if I paid for eight cookies that are cream cheese icing yeah and if you put
16:21 it in the closet for future use when you
16:25 buy your larger stomach are you going to
16:29 work the wordof into here yeah yeah
16:32 that's proof that you haven't mastered the segue yet
16:37 oh but yeah essentially like I think part of the reason why I think a lot of
16:41 people didn't notice yet is I don't know that many or like anyone who's actually
16:45 really gaming at 4K all the time right now yep once that becomes more of a
16:49 thing a lot more people would have noticed a lot faster and maybe not I
16:52 actually I spent some time with the NC Tech tips guys today and they we filmed
16:57 a video about it there as well and they threw a bunch of games at their GTX 970
17:02 at 4K and we're kind of like let's see how much vram we use and what they
17:07 discovered is that until um Battlefield 4 they managed to get over three and a
17:11 half gigs at 4K yeah and what they
17:15 realized is that when it's it's it's that classic how much vram is the right
17:20 amount for a graphics card question because once you start just piling it
17:24 like if you put 16 gigs of memory on a GTX 970 that would be asinine because it
17:30 there's no way that any game that ever exists that would require 16 gigs of
17:35 vram would run on that GPU so what they
17:38 discovered is that running Battlefield 4 at 4K was resulting in such a low frame
17:43 rate that they had to turn the details down which brought the video memory
17:47 usage back into the comfort zone right
17:50 so I understand why owners are mad but I
17:55 understand NVIDIA's statement about the gtx970 still being a rock and awesome
18:00 product and we're not going to cut the price on it because it's still awesome
18:06 at that price and sorry about the miscommunication they need to be for the
18:11 rest of the 970s lifespan they need to be a lot more clear yep because just the
18:16 people that paid attention during this and like 6 to eight months down the line
18:20 when this isn't as well known because it's faded away it still needs to be
18:25 well known and NVIDIA rarely makes a mistake like this twice um I I feel like
18:31 over the last few Generations they've been trying to get you know flirtier and
18:37 and flirtier about sort of how things are actually working how the technology
18:42 Works behind the scenes I mean um arguably because they don't want their
18:45 competitors to learn too much about it and find a way to clone it in their next
18:50 you know lineup of gpus or or whatever else they're they're worried about but I
18:54 hope that this is a bit of a wakeup call that they have to at least clearly
18:59 communicate the speed at which the hardware is running to the members of
19:03 the tech press that are going to figure this out and call them on it anyway and
19:07 I've got a lot of people saying lonus come on don't defend them do I sound like I'm defending them devil zzz is
19:13 like lonus I am disappointed they didn't make a mistake they lied lying is
19:18 different from misrepresentation and I do believe that there had to be a
19:22 significant degree of unintentional
19:25 going on over here because there is absolutely no no way that NVIDIA
19:30 completely missed something like they have the wrong amount of cash on a spec
19:36 sheet intentionally there is something to be said about realizing that and then
19:41 not fixing it though well there's nothing they can really do to fix it
19:44 they can't add more cash no fixing it uh I don't mean in in in that but like not
19:50 notifying the public in any way right they waited for it to God my throat
19:55 today I thought I was better um they waited for it to blow up before trying
20:00 to contain it you know what I mean yeah I and the
20:05 thing is is that I'm not like I'm not sure how long of a delay there was
20:09 between NVIDIA realizing this and I
20:12 can't imagine it that long I don't think it was that long because the thing is is
20:16 that okay like the way this works behind the scenes is when you're launching a
20:20 product whether you're at the retailer side like I would have been or whether
20:24 you're on NVIDIA's side you've got everyone working around the clock to you
20:28 know get the gussied up pictures looking good and get the spec sheets all right
20:33 and get the you know the video you know scheduled to launch on YouTube at the
20:37 right time that's like Tom Peterson being all like oh the 970 is amazing so
20:43 the 980 it's even more amazing that's why I should pay more money for it um
20:47 and then when the launch is over everyone kind of
20:51 goes and then sits and and monitors and
20:55 makes sure everything's kind of going okay for a couple days and then it's
21:00 time to get back to work and there's something new to work on whether it's a
21:03 you know a g-sync you know monitoring
21:07 phase they probably didn't realize yet
21:11 cuz I had imagine okay think about think about this the engineers when you're if
21:14 you're an engineer yeah and your baby gets released yeah you're not going to
21:18 look into any of the release products from your company and the amount of
21:21 Engineers that must have worked on that the amount of Engineers that must have known the specs for that card and then
21:27 seen that release documentation I don't know the amount of not my job
21:31 that I've seen in my life I I got a Wonder like I really got a
21:36 Wonder I've got to imagine there's there's engineers at NVIDIA that care
21:40 enough to look into that documentation I'm I'm I'm willing to
21:46 assume to a large degree I'm not sure but I'm willing to assume to a very
21:49 large degree that there was at least some amount of internal communication
21:53 going on okay well whatever ended up happening
21:58 whatever CU I don't know cuz you can choose to
22:01 believe whatever you will but the reality of it is no one outside of
22:05 NVIDIA will ever know the truth the takeaways here are that they've got
22:09 their tail between their legs right now people are understandably extremely
22:13 upset I mean I've even seen I'd be pissed I don't have a 970 but I would be
22:17 pretty upset I I mean we've seen high level NVIDIA staff on Twitter promising
22:21 to help people get refunds on their cards if they're if they're that upset
22:24 about it um amds come out and offered uh
22:28 yeah Good Good Old Roy oh my God just shots everywhere yeah here I'll pull
22:32 this up uh AMD has has started offering
22:35 people deals on R9 290s with a full four
22:40 full 4 gigabyt of memory uh to anyone returning a
22:44 gtx970 good good Old Roy um does this
22:48 apply to Canadians 2 or am my so nope we love Canucks 2 oh man those guys kind of
22:54 funny actually so I guess what else is there
22:58 to really say about this other than people are people are people are butt
23:02 hurt which is why we were debating whether or not we can use that word and
23:07 we've decided apparently yes yeah yes we can because we're not relating it to
23:11 other things people are butt hurt their butt hurt because they got screwed and
23:16 how hard they got screwed well it's really difficult to say we're not
23:19 relating it to other things their butt hurt because they got
23:22 screwed damn it uh have you ever heard of something
23:26 called a quk screw oh if you were to stick that into your gluteus maximus
23:30 that would hurt that yes that yes all right so now that we've put that issue
23:36 to bed yes damn
23:40 it um always home free and then you're like
23:45 no I guess all that's really do you want to straw pull this like why don't we
23:49 just why don't we just what we what are we straw pulling straw pull um you know
23:53 H gee I don't know how about just let's straw pull misspelled it let's straw
23:58 pull how upset are you about gtx970 so
24:04 uh option one should be storm in a teacup which I've seen a lot of people
24:08 I've seen a lot of people use that exact wording for it and not to sort of sway
24:13 the results of the poll at all but I think that's a load of malarkey um so
24:18 you know six or let's go with I'm upset
24:22 but you know I'd still buy a
24:25 970 and then let's go with um upset
24:30 would not buy a 970 and then let's go with upset would not buy any NVIDIA
24:35 product anymore so we want we want to we want to cover the whole Spectrum here
24:39 and then we'll put in the usual like I don't know um cucumber diama or
24:48 whatever all right are you posting that in twitch chat yep all right I'll I'll
24:53 get the link from there so we'll
24:56 uh we'll go ahead to do straw P ones cuz you have to go to the results page sure
25:01 yeah no problem are you not logged in twitch why you do this to
25:06 me Monsters has to load the chat
25:10 separately because it's not running their own thing I'll load your chat
25:14 separately come on spinny wheel please Sarah please Sarah don't worry about it
25:19 is that the name of the spinny wheel no all right okay uh can you just Google
25:24 Google Chat it to me yeah I can do that I mean Hangouts it
25:28 that is not catchy at all it's like binging things like nobody Bings things
25:34 you want to hang out with me on my browser because no desktop application
25:37 or I guess there is but it's garbage yeah yeah so there's
25:42 that the chat never loaded wait what's
25:46 up oh my gosh you know that obnoxious BS
25:50 thing that Google does where if you rightclick um copy Link in the Google
25:55 search like you should control C control V there no no it it no no not that the
26:00 one where instead of just being the link it's a Google trackable link oh yeah
26:05 yeah uh so they've they're doing it in Hangouts now really so the link I posted
26:09 in here instead of just being straw poole. is like Google do whatever yeah
26:15 pretty pretty obnoxious whoa I've never see it's new whoa that's gross that's
26:21 really long like can you just not can you just actually stop doing that thank
26:25 you Google that would be great wow that's garbage like I see what website
26:29 I'm going to you butts all right speaking of butts um
26:34 upset but I'd still buy 970 I think this is the reaction NVIDIA is kind of hoping
26:38 for here is they I'm sure it is they know people are upset but
26:43 they kind of are like well the 970 is
26:46 still awesome so yeah uh two and you
26:50 know what's kind of funny is I remember thinking when the 970 launched that it
26:55 was so close to 980 and yet the price
26:58 Gap was so big it's almost like whoever
27:01 was doing pricing knew that they were
27:05 cutting it down a lot more than whoever was doing technical marketing yeah if
27:09 that makes sense yeah yeah that actually does make sense so a lot of uh a lot of
27:14 cucumber diarama um a lot of upset would
27:17 not buy a 970 a lot of storm in a teacup uh not a lot of butt hurt and uh
27:22 surprisingly little upset would not buy any NVIDIA product I bet you a large
27:26 amount of that um is people that weren't going to anyways yep AMD guys I mean to
27:32 imagine that we have fewer than 7% sort of team red members in our audience
27:37 would be completely ignorant of us so yes all right we've spent enough of this
27:43 show on butts and this topic so let's move on to
27:47 NVIDIA is in another bundle of hot water
27:51 can you have a bundle of hot water um so
27:54 this well I guess if you had like a waterproof Satchel of some
28:00 sort so that was in a bundle I'm going to go ahead and post this link in the
28:03 chat like if you had a waterproof jacket B Boop oh right I have to spam it now
28:09 all right so this was uh a great little discussion on the PC per YouTube channel
28:15 as well as uh on an article on pcp.com but there were reports running around
28:20 and this was post by m
28:23 mvi m mkin sure mkin on the Forum and uh
28:29 there were reports on the internet of some guy uh sorry did you yeah I posted
28:34 already of some guy like supposedly modifying a GT uh a GTX
28:40 980m notebook to run g-sync on its
28:44 integrated panel and I saw the rumors
28:48 late at night and I kind of didn't have time to look into it and I kind of
28:51 forgot about it which is kind of embarrassing because I really should have looked into this it's a huge deal
28:55 but PC per ran out a ained that exact
28:59 model of notebook got their hands on the
29:02 driver that the guy supposedly modded turns out they didn't mod anything it
29:06 was just uh it was an alpha level driver
29:09 that someone in ASUS's like Nordic
29:13 support team or something gave to a customer to try to fix a different
29:18 unrelated issue and then they had the desync notification pop up in the corner
29:23 and it turned out that it worked yeah um so so that's how that driver got leaked
29:27 out there and basically what they did was they took the laptop verified that
29:32 it worked and it did so NVIDIA's pendulum demo works perfectly you go
29:37 vsync on no vsync you get your tearing you go gsync and you get no stutter and
29:41 no tear and then they completely tore the laptop apart piece by piece and they
29:47 claimed to have pictures in their article but I'm going to go ahead and uh
29:50 here we go so they completely tore apart I tried to get Ryan on the show today
29:55 actually but I think he he's I think his
29:58 wife told him he couldn't come or something like that so uh wow you guys
30:01 can give him a hard time about that on Twitter but they they tore this baby
30:05 apart even peel back the LCD examined every component there is no gsync module
30:12 so this raises a lot of questions about NVIDIA's communication with respect to
30:17 gsync as well because they've been telling us we need a special module to
30:23 communicate with the graphics card and obviously the same is not true for free
30:28 sync or for adaptive sync the Vasa spec
30:31 upon which free sync AMD's equivalent is
30:34 based because AMD is not making any claims about having a special module the
30:39 only thing they're saying is they have to have a GPU that supports it correctly
30:43 so NVIDIA's been telling us we need this module and that it does some stuff like
30:47 it goes ahead and compares the data from the previous frame to the data on the
30:51 next frame with a little built-in buffer and they uh actually PC Pur discussion
30:57 of this whole thing says that nidia's claiming they have some additional
31:00 functionality they can potentially unlock with the gsync module in the future we don't know if this is true we
31:04 don't know if it's untrue we don't know anything right now but um basically
31:10 there is no g-sync module and this raises questions about well why exactly
31:15 did we need a g-sync module in the first place I'm going to bring up some things
31:19 first of all this is very much one of those things that I um well okay this is
31:24 actually not very much but a little bit one of those things that I don't like where it's heavily kind of it's not a
31:29 rumor because we know officially fromia but it's so early on and there's been
31:33 one call and there's a ton of speculation they're like okay it exists
31:38 let's tear apart this one laptop and then not find something and then slam
31:41 them for it which is Justified definitely to a certain degree but a lot
31:46 of the things that are being said including by you I don't think are necessarily fair not necessarily needed
31:52 a g-sync module they may no longer need a g-sync module so and
31:58 and NVIDIA's claim that they will be able to add more functionality with a
32:03 gsync module with its own built-in memory buffer and all that stuff could
32:07 be very true yes that could be 100% true
32:10 and 100% valid in fact it could be that mobile g-sync which for power reasons
32:16 and complexity reasons may never use a g-sync module it could be that mobile
32:22 gsync may not be as good as desktop GYN
32:26 in the long term GYN M or something it could be an entirely different version
32:31 um and that would make a ton of sense as well like we're I I feel like because
32:36 we're pitchforking I'm using pitchforking because I don't know what
32:39 the chat's doing but those look like pitchforks those are pitchforks um because we're pitchforking NVIDIA so
32:43 heavily for the 970 thing we just immediately started re pitchforking them
32:47 for this one before gaining a ton of information was an early driver that
32:52 that frankly doesn't work correctly I mean actually again shout from PC per
32:56 did a great job of covering this because they even talk about like guys look it's
32:59 not working we did manage to dis they did manage to discover that the panel on
33:05 this laptop actually is a 100 HZ IPS panel which I certainly didn't realize
33:10 it's rated at 75 and we've got one of these laptops as well and so that's
33:14 super cool but then they also discovered that it's running with g-sync but uh
33:19 when you go particularly when the frame rate drops or drastically dips and it's
33:23 funny they used Assassin's Creed Unity to demo that but when it drastically
33:27 dips it can actually cause the screen to disconnect temporarily or even for a
33:32 while so it's it's not working yet and
33:37 their speculation based on the conversation with NVIDIA is that mobile
33:41 gsync Bas because we've got better
33:45 scaler technology now than we did back when NVIDIA was developing gsync and
33:49 this whole thing didn't exist yet is that mobile gsync may end up being more
33:53 of a certification yeah process similar
33:56 to the free sync idea as opposed to just Hardware now to be clear the one of the
34:02 differences between the way AMD works and the way NVIDIA works is that AMD has
34:06 a freesync certification process but that doesn't mean that a monitor that
34:11 has the supported Hardware but does not have the certification will not work we
34:15 had this conversation with Theus where they didn't intend to certify one of
34:19 their monitors but we have heard I don't
34:23 have one of those monitors yet that freesync works on it just fine with
34:27 NVIDIA I would not expect that to be the case because that's the way they
34:30 function they validate a use case
34:35 thoroughly and then they put their stamp of this is the experience you will have
34:39 on it and that is how they control their ecosystem s stuff like GTX 770 and GTX
34:45 680 they're the exact same damn card
34:49 with the exception of the GTX 770 has faster clocked memory there is no reason
34:55 why the GTX 770 couldn't have its memory clocked down and run an SLI with a GTX
35:00 680 at least without you know extensive
35:05 tweaking of firmwares and drivers or whatever else to make it work there's no
35:08 real reason those couldn't run an SLI that's not the way NVIDIA does things
35:13 AMD on the other hand allows Crossfire to run on an r9280x and a 7970 or a 7970
35:20 GHz Edition all of which are sort of
35:24 different cards although they're based on the same GPU with the same memory
35:27 configuration in much the same way that 770 and 680 are
35:31 so it's a different philosophy I mean another great example NVIDIA slii
35:36 requires an SLI certified board even
35:40 though there's no technical reason it couldn't work on any board as we've seen
35:43 with hacked drivers in the past and requires 8X PCIe operation regardless of
35:51 the fact that that doesn't matter PCIe
35:54 gen 34x is plenty fast for SLI with a modern card you can quote me on that but
35:59 NVIDIA doesn't allow it they say look 8X is the is the minimum that's what we
36:03 validate for so that's it that's final
36:08 so the mobile g-sync one I think the takeaway is we need to wait and see we
36:13 need to wait and see I don't think they lied I think they wanted desktop gsync
36:17 in our hands a lot sooner hence the event that happened like months and
36:21 months and months before we actually got our hands on retail monitors um and I
36:26 think in that time a development happened a lot faster than NVIDIA
36:30 expected on on the on the third party scalers that could be implemented in
36:34 monitors for another solution like adaptive syn and I I think this this was
36:38 not supposed to be talked about yet this was an accidental leak that turned into
36:42 a now kind of huge thing and as we've
36:45 seen from freaking star seon when you have uh fan interaction before something
36:51 is ready it's sometimes ugly so that's
36:55 why I brought up the rumor thing at the beginning no it's not a rumor
36:58 but we just kind of need to wait until
37:01 we get like an official working driver
37:04 um stuff supplied from them to be like yes try this experience and see what
37:08 it's like um yeah I think we're going
37:12 wait and figure it out and I think like you were saying that there's going to be
37:16 different g-sync there'll be g-sync mobile and Gynt and there going to be I
37:19 think very different experiences especially because they explicitly said
37:23 that there's features that they still have to unlock on the actual g-sync
37:26 module and there's no doubt in my mind whatsoever that NVIDIA is developing a
37:31 better g-sync module than the one they have I mean back when they did the event
37:35 before it even launched they said look this solution's really expensive and
37:39 produces a lot of power we need to shrink it down and I'm sure they haven't
37:43 been sitting on their butts for the last year and a half so yeah I mean I'd
37:48 expect to see a gsync module that allows for more inputs than just DisplayPort
37:52 for example cuz that's like stupid you buy a $1,000 monitor with one in I come
37:58 on it's not like NVIDIA hasn't thought of this maybe it should have HDMI in or
38:02 something be helpful for like like yeah I mean they're the only video card maker
38:06 in the market with HDMI 2.0 on their graphics cards and then their own
38:10 display controller doesn't accept HDMI 2.0 in it doesn't make any sense many
38:15 monitors that I use on a daily basis have more than one of their inputs plugged in so I can swap between inputs
38:20 that's that's a thing so the exciting thing here is that mobile g-sync is
38:24 coming uh the unfortunate thing is owner of the g751 I doubt very much that
38:30 they're actually going to get it because it looks like this is a very Alpha thing
38:35 right now but um very cool stuff I I I
38:38 wish that NVIDIA was more upfront with us I understand why in their competitive
38:44 clo and Dagger industry they're not but
38:48 I don't understand how people in the chat are trying to say that this is an NVIDIA sponsored stream when have we
38:53 been not slamming on them this stream anyways sorry keep going that was stream
38:57 is sponsored by Squarespace uh Loot Crate and I fix it I just thought I'd
39:02 clarify that you know what let's do our sponsor spot I'm excited about mobile
39:06 gsync but I think that can that can actually wait so let's start with
39:10 Squarespace these guys are kind of crazy
39:14 this is the second time they have done a Super Bowl commercial so I'm going to
39:19 show you guys the uh the teaser here we also have like an animated lower third
39:23 from them now that I'm we had this last week did we well I don't know how much I
39:26 like it I think it should go for a little while
39:31 and then stop yeah maybe okay wow they
39:34 have like maybe if maybe if these lines and dots come on screen and then like
39:38 form something like maybe if there isn't the for free trial and 10% off click get
39:43 started and those lines and dots like form into that that would be pretty cool
39:47 or if that's there and then the lines and dots form into the Squarespace logo
39:51 like the lines turn into the letters and the dots turn into the two
39:55 s's um branding yeah so I completely
39:59 lost track of what you were talking about that's cool because you got that set up I'm gonna go ahead and uh and
40:04 play this so this is their this is their Super Bowl commercial teaser I love
40:09 we're in the corner listening to intriguing sounds
40:14 when I drift off into my
40:18 dreams others might
40:31 you don't have audio right now do you I've I've seen this oh yeah okay I told
40:35 you before that I listened to the whole album and everything so um You released a whole
40:40 album on Squarespace have you seen have you seen any of this yeah yeah so um you
40:45 can you can hear Jeff's album so this is Jeff Bridges the dude from the big
40:50 Labowski it's super weird it is actually
40:53 super bizarre now something I didn't know about this Pro so his site is
40:57 obviously built with Squarespace and he's collaborating with Squarespace on
41:00 this Super Bowl ad and and all that stuff but what I didn't realize is that
41:04 this isn't some weird contrived Squarespace thing this is something Jeff
41:09 Bridges was legitimately working on um
41:12 this Ikea one is pretty bizarre yeah so you can buy the album
41:16 digitally and the proceeds go to no kid
41:19 hungry which is pretty cool or you can buy a physical copy if you're into that
41:23 sort of thing when I die there will be no I think the proceeds this
41:31 could I have contracted with space Mater
41:35 toor my remains aboard an etern a
41:39 satellite so I'm not actually sure that any of this would help me sleep any
41:44 better than um than I otherwise would on
41:47 own there's parts of it that would cuz there's parts of it where he isn't talking but parts of it where it gets
41:53 super bizarre a lot of his speech stuff though is is intended to make you uh
41:58 dream about weird things that will throw you into a dream state like there's
42:01 there's reasoning behind a lot I don't know if it would work for me there I'm
42:05 just saying so you can get an LP or cassette even if you want yeah you get a
42:09 golden LP or a normal LP or a cassette or I think digital I don't even know if
42:13 you can get a CD so we've talked enough about Jeff Bridges and his like Jeff
42:18 Bridges project that's going on over here sleeping tapes we'll talk a little
42:22 bit about Squarespace so they allow you to make your own website that's scalable
42:26 fast runs great on your desktop it runs great on mobile phones they've got a
42:30 bunch of great templates all that stuff they have that super annoying jingle
42:34 that I think about every single time I do a Squarespace spot uh oh is that site
42:39 up yeah it's terrible I'm still working on it oh okay we'll show we'll show it
42:42 later okay um oh and I'll save actually got a one of okay I got the best
42:46 testimonial we've ever gotten from anyone about a sponsor spot about
42:50 Squarespace so I I saved it and I'll uh I'll uh I'll I'll share that with you
42:54 guys another time but basically don't miss the Super Bowl so that you can see
42:59 squarespace's commercial or any of the other reasons
43:03 that you might want to watch the Super Bowl also for a free trial and 10% off
43:07 visit squarespace.com Linus and use offer code Linus I
43:12 actually don't know squarespace.com Linus works anymore but use offer code Linus all right yeah I don't I don't
43:17 think it does but the offer code does work all right so next up we've got our
43:21 I fix it sponsor spot which I sincerely
43:25 hope that I have the video file that goes with so iFix it ah yes so
43:29 ifixit.com Linus use offer code wow2 to
43:33 save $10 on your purchase of $50 or more
43:37 so this is actually just some footage that we took of my iFixit tool kit that
43:41 I use all the time see that antistatic strap boom it goes on a wrist it goes on
43:45 an ankle which is where I usually keep it um we've got a bunch of little priers
43:49 and pokers and knives and all kinds of
43:53 different driver bits and all kinds of cool stuff like that I basically I'm a
43:57 big fan of the iFixit tool kit before they came on and started sponsoring the
44:01 show I had already done an unboxing of their prot te tool kit that I had
44:05 purchased for myself that I use all the time and Nick's coming in here to tell
44:09 me I did something wrong wo 02 wo
44:13 02 wo wo 02 so this that is you know
44:19 that if you put a zero before a number it doesn't matter in mathematics but it
44:24 does in URLs and code
44:28 cuz it still counts as a character all right so uh so guys they've got all
44:33 kinds of great tutorials you can fix basically anything we used their
44:36 tutorial for our iMac tear down which I definitely would not have been able to
44:40 do and might have even hurt myself if I had tried to do it without it yeah honestly iMac tur Downs super suck so
44:46 and finally Loot Crate use offer code Linus to save 10% which amounts to
44:52 like not a lot of money but that's okay
44:55 it's still an amount of money and if you sign up for a whole okay if you sign up
44:59 for a whole year then um then it's more
45:04 yeah it'll add up more yeah hey do you want to do the uh do you want to do the
45:07 webcam thing and we'll do our live unboxing we may actually do another live
45:11 unboxing on the show today oh dang people don't know what
45:16 that is D xps13 suckers so uh stay tuned for that
45:21 but yeah let's get the uh let's get the webcam going on here add camera let's do
45:25 the Logitech one cuz it doesn't suck it's way better yeah oh it's not in wide
45:29 screen why does it always forget okay well don't look at me they can already
45:32 see me look at my junk the junk in this
45:36 Loot Crate package um we do you have the software
45:40 for this software it's super easy to make it go into WID screen there's software oh for oh for I thought for The
45:46 Loot Crate I'm not too worried about it okay see it looks like a nest and then
45:50 there's the controller plugins and stuff oh that's cool yeah it looks like an
45:54 orange Nast do you know what's in here already uh maybe you cheated Nick cheated oh
46:01 Nick cheated oh that's right he did okay so we've got a lot crate rewind oh so
46:06 this is kind of like the YouTube Rewind concept where they pick like cool stuff
46:10 from like the previous year oh no it's just retro stuff yeah it's just rewind
46:15 in general oh rewind in general yeah all right so we got a shirt I haven't
46:20 actually seen the shirt there we go that's pretty nice I
46:24 love what a great values these things are cuz like even just a shirt is like
46:29 10 15 20 bucks a lot of the time to get like cool shirts with neat patterns on
46:33 them speaking of which lonus techtips has shirts available for
46:37 $19.99 more than a Loot Crate much more expensive than an entire Loot Crate
46:42 which also has other things in it a nice 8 bit glasses yeah and these are like
46:46 like UV protective like non- terrible ones cuz usually when you find 8bit
46:50 glasses they're like the garbage $5 like these ones suck eight bit glasses oh I
46:55 wouldn't give them too much credit that UV doesn't look like anything special
46:59 but they're better than any other apic glasses I've seen I will give them that
47:02 a yeah I might not have seen very great ones but they are better and they're
47:06 orange and black these are pretty cool actually
47:09 these these go pretty well with the lest
47:12 Tech tips thing that we got going on here the 8 bit shirt he needs 8 bit
47:17 glasses now yeah all right what else we got in here sweet it's shaped like a
47:21 nest cartridge what is it it's like a dude you have to build it really yeah
47:27 so analog retro inspired products yeah
47:31 take it out so there's your your cartridge but then you he has like feet
47:34 and stuff which is in there oh so he's
47:38 like a little guy we should do this like we should have the the cameraman like
47:43 pre-research products then you just do unboxings for them so it's like Linus's
47:47 discoveries but the cameraman knows what's actually happening yeah so if
47:51 you're confused about anything I can be like hey yeah no it's this it's cool and
47:55 then you can be like waa that's super cool cool L's First Impressions plus
48:01 knowledge The Best of Both Worlds yeah
48:05 and then you you can put like the gun in his hand I did actually figure that out
48:09 on my own thank you yeah I just wasn't sure okay oh sweet it's a light gun yeah
48:15 nice and like it it's often not like
48:19 this is kind of Back to the Future um if
48:22 you can see the like like it's Back to
48:25 the Future e and and then the the other one that we had was a doctor who styled
48:30 one so they're not necessarily Nest games but they're
48:34 necessarily oh I didn't even plan that one out oh dang all right what we got
48:40 here this I actually don't know what it is black tie
48:43 geek okay when you when you do the like established thing it needs to be not
48:48 like two years ago yeah um I'm assuming this is just a clip
48:53 on tie oh look at that is it oh no it's an actual tie tie tie and it's kind of
48:58 cool I always forget and this is embarrassing how much are loot crates
49:02 again I don't know I don't think they're
49:05 very much though that's not bad that's pretty cool
49:09 that's like a a decent tie that's fun I
49:13 would wear that look at that space invader's tie yeah I think it's a little
49:16 thin for you unfortunately no thin ties are a thing oh are they a thing yeah I'm
49:20 not fashionable I I'm not either so they might not be a thing anymore they were a
49:24 thing at at some point
49:27 pocket notebook 64 panel sheets a notebook for when inspiration strikes
49:32 cartooning tips and a ter balloon template for pych character studies and
49:35 yeah it's like a cartooners yeah comic book did you really forget how much loot
49:40 crates are yeah I don't know 1337 1337
49:43 thank you Nick worth it so far all right they always they always come with this
49:47 thing so they have like people wearing Loot Crate
49:51 stuff whether you're a fan or not it's impossible to not love Nintendo for
49:54 being a source of nostalgia for their games worlds of characters unless you're a Sega fan cool stuff yeah unless you're
49:59 unless you're a Sega fan then you probably hate on Nintendo pretty hard
50:02 mention that it's 1337 for one month and less if you order more months at a time
50:07 oh good okay so you could save anywhere from
50:11 a137 I think or $133 with our offer code
50:15 to more but proportionally less if you order more at a time so here's a little
50:20 uh pop out foldable controller that goes
50:24 with the uh now this is I thought this was really cool be careful it's a I'm
50:29 going to go and make it worthless what all right that's actually probably valid
50:34 you might as well show them yeah I might as well have a look at what's going on in here see I'm a Star Wars geek so you
50:39 can kind of get my attention with Star Wars stuff all right well it's starting
50:43 off about like I might have expected okay
50:59 huh that's fun I wonder is this like a
51:02 is this like a copyright infringement thing if we read a comic book on
51:07 stream I'm not reading a comic book like
51:10 I don't know what you're talking about let's players would argue it's not look that's the audio setup that's not fully
51:15 set up yeah I know right all right so
51:18 thank you to our sponsors the Squarespace Loot Crate and I fix it for
51:22 making the W show possible let's move on to our next topic
51:28 which is I have no idea I don't know we actually have a lot of topics left and
51:32 there's like do we half an hour left cool so cuz all we've made it through is
51:37 it's like the NVIDIA and people you want
51:40 to slam on EA yeah it's been so long
51:43 yeah what did EA do oh yeah that's awesome yeah okay oh I can't contrl F EA
51:49 I'll control F micro transaction wrecked
51:52 uh this was posted by and then there was one on the Forum have you posted in
51:56 twitch I'm ready I'm ready I got this
51:59 all right contr v wait what oh I think I did it wrong
52:05 wait really oh Google freaking Google Docs does it now too oh really
52:12 yeah jeez guys you're killing me here
52:17 all right well it's from Android police and EA that's why I haven't noticed I
52:21 always do it that way I open the website and then I link it all right EA will be
52:25 charging for gas in the ironically named
52:28 Need for Speed Unlimited or No Limits excuse me no limits which is totally
52:32 different from unlimited um so basically well I don't
52:37 know cell phone companies might actually agree with you unlimited for cell phone
52:40 companies is 2,000 whereas No Limits might be
52:44 something else entirely no no no no oh no no limits is
52:49 actually 500 no no there's no limit when
52:52 you advance and you're a cell phone provider oh it's a 90 song You Don't
52:56 recognize it do you no I kind of do oh that's a shame all right well at any
53:01 rate um the brand tough Meter whatever that oh this
53:08 is a different language fuel fuel meter I was like what are you trying to
53:13 read I haven't read the rest of it yet um so basically you can use in-game
53:17 currency to buy gas for your car or you can sit and wait for your gas to refuel
53:22 on its own which is exactly how the real world works I'm sure someone
53:27 someone on the team was like how will we make people feel like microtransactions
53:32 are a more natural part of gameplay wait racing okay so you can buy things for
53:36 your car everyone needs to fuel their car bam instant success executive
53:41 promotion one thing that executive promotion one thing that I'm not
53:45 entirely sure about because I couldn't really find it and watch it be in the
53:48 article but um wow people are doing the Pitchfork thing and then putting an A on
53:52 the end so it's a pit EA Pitchfork because it would normally have the e
53:56 already cuz the that's awesome um
54:00 Pitchfork not instead of digging so oh
54:03 EA pitchforks Ubisoft digs eventually
54:07 we'll have a full Farm of game
54:10 developers NVIDIA back
54:13 hos shovels weren't fast enough for them this
54:16 week yeah um anyways I I think it might
54:20 be a free-to-play game yeah in which case that's totally expected because
54:24 that's how every single free to-play game works ever and this isn't new yeah
54:27 it's just annoying yes it is annoying one thing that I kind of found was funny
54:31 though is that they still used
54:34 gold like what like you you couldn't use like like
54:39 Karma or something I know need for speed's done that before haven't they
54:42 wasn't it karma I know I don't no I don't Kudos I haven't played Need for
54:46 Speed since underground that's probably a good
54:49 choice so right there underground was pretty good yeah it was underground was
54:53 great what game was it that used Kudos maybe it was a different game maybe I'm
54:56 thinking of a different racing game twitch chat's going to slam and all
55:00 right well end gadgets article here the
55:03 FCC redefines
55:06 Broadband I'm a little confused on this topic I thought they already did this no
55:10 they were talking about it and it was looking like it was going to go through
55:14 so now it's like totally definitely through yes it's done okay it's done but
55:18 the truth of the matter is this doesn't really change anything because it's not
55:23 like it's not like the Telos have to
55:27 start giving you 25 megabit down they just can't call their crapp Broadband
55:32 anymore yes that's the only change this only changes in America um one of one of
55:39 the folks that was uh that was voting on the issue said something or oh I hope
55:43 she was one of the people voting control F 100 uh FCC commissioner
55:48 Jessica Rosen Mor still stated today that she thinks the BR Broadband
55:52 threshold should frankly be 100 megabit per second a move would finally put the
55:57 United States in line with the Speedy connections available in countries like South Korea so was 25 enough some would
56:04 argue no um I would probably agree especially if we're trying to call like
56:09 Broadband what's the what's the implication here yeah and a big problem
56:13 with this too is when's the next time we're going to redefine this not for a
56:17 long time so it should have been a lot higher 4K TVs are affordable today and
56:23 25 megabit down is not going to be especially with the kind of data cap
56:26 that's going to come with that speed of connection is not enough for you to be
56:30 watching your 4K Netflix all day mind you if you're watching 4K Netflix all
56:34 day I mean what do they have like four shows in 4k I mean you probably watch a
56:37 lot of the same shows slick as sick slick as
56:41 sick there we go what do you mean he says he's going to start a monthly
56:44 subscription if you say that till what uh probably the Forum Netflix The Forum
56:49 oh The Forum oh okay so now he has to
56:52 contraction comp or contraction contract
56:55 completed contract completed what are you a Hitman I just I
57:01 I saw video game mechanics in twitch chat and I had to like I was it was like
57:05 Quest acquired say this twice and I was like sure completed the quest contract
57:11 completed he now has to go sign up on the Forum boom done all right so we
57:14 haven't done some of the uh credits for people posting things on the Forum the
57:18 Bony King posted at least one of the bazillion topics on the Forum related to
57:22 the NVIDIA thing Carlos Rex also in there the m night narwhal was in there
57:27 somewhere Sergeant ballistic posted the FCC thing and top war gamer posted this
57:32 next one the original article here is from Venture beat so let's go ahead and
57:37 drop that in the twitch chat we'll drop
57:40 that drop that drop that that Venture
57:45 beat God one thing that's been
57:48 constantly confusing about this article for me is they didn't drop uh Flash no
57:54 but they changed the def fault yeah but like the title is freaking dropped like
57:59 I saw this everywhere before I read it and like the title everywhere is oh they
58:03 dropped Flash and I'm like wow that's a really aggressive move this is going to
58:07 be a lot of like older stuff that's Flash and it's not going to work at all
58:11 it's like how you're intended to read the title yeah how the title actually oh
58:16 wait that by default just like kind of hitched on the back I'm like okay
58:21 sure all right so um this brings with it
58:25 a few sign significant advantages so number one and this is going to be great
58:29 for folks who had their nonb Broadband
58:33 redefined but haven't actually had their speeds increased uh we are going to get
58:36 adaptive bit rate streamings to quickly and seamlessly adjust resolution and bit
58:41 rate depending on the network connection uh media Source extension so oh that was
58:46 what I just said uh the vp9 video Codec will be used Which is higher quality
58:51 video and an average bandwidth decrease of 35%
58:56 um okay encrypted media extension soel lets content providers use a single HTML
59:01 5 video player across a wide range of platforms web RTC so realtime
59:06 communication lets internet users communicate in real
59:09 time oh my God this is amazing uh so using a
59:16 compatible browser from broadcasting tools from within the browser and full
59:19 screen API immersive full screen experiences with a standard HTML
59:23 interface cool so HTML 5 is doing what
59:26 it's supposed to be doing making the web seamless and good and content rich just
59:31 generally better yeah this isn't this might not be new for everyone because I
59:35 know a lot of people have been using uh Force HTML 5 and Firefox for a long time
59:39 and various other Solutions and various other browsers but it's always cool when
59:43 they change defaults y because there's a lot of people that aren't going to
59:47 change the defaults on things and they didn't just change the default on Chrome
59:50 which has been kind of a Google thing it's like Yay the latest experience if
59:54 you use Chrome haha uh they've changed it on Chrome i11 Safari 8 and beta
60:00 versions of Firefox which knowing Firefox that means you'll have it pretty
60:03 soon yeah you know what I was using um uh my
60:09 wife uses Firefox still as her default browser and so I was using her computer
60:13 and I went to search for something and I was like WTF Yahoo search and then I was
60:18 like oh right yeah that it's fine it
60:21 yeah yeah I told you about that I know I didn't I I didn't believe you yes but uh
60:25 but is terrible and like immediately Yahoo is powered by Bing in the back end
60:31 how is this possible mind explosion and Bing is apparently uh why is Bing so
60:36 crap Bing judging by Google Blog which I
60:39 don't really know if is actually Google or not at this point uh is bang is
60:44 apparently stealing from Google but that was a long time ago maybe they're not
60:47 anymore not that long ago and like the the the way that they figured it out was
60:52 actually really good it was like the old cartographer trick thing you put the
60:56 fake town and then you see if other people copy your fake town is the same
60:59 idea they put a completely fake search thing and then they searched it on Bing
61:03 and it came up with the same thing that Google did and it was totally fake it
61:06 was to some like random website that had nothing to do with the string that they
61:09 typed in it was nowhere on the website and then it showed up on Google because
61:12 they Implement implanted it there and it showed up on Bing as well so apparently
61:17 Bing was stealing stuff from Google okay apparently Yahoo officially takes things
61:21 from Bing so like it's all possibly
61:24 flooding down from Google but then the other ones aren't as usable why is it
61:27 that Bing's results are always so bloody useless then I don't know and I
61:31 installed Windows 10 I told you that for a little while Cortana was garbage
61:36 completely ignoring the fact that she like is never able to do anything so
61:41 forcibly opens a new tab and Bing searches it which is the least elegant
61:45 way of doing that like if you don't know the answer please just don't answer or
61:50 tell me that you don't know don't be like I'm going to just open either a new
61:54 window if you don't have one open or and like force it to the front or I'll open
61:59 a new tab force that to the front of everything that you're doing and just
62:02 Bing search it which will never give me the right results but yeah her her
62:06 ability to pick up speech is very bad in my opinion I don't know that was a
62:10 terrible experience but hopefully they fix it hopefully Timmy Tech's watching
62:14 because he was he was not super happy when I was complaining about Cortana but
62:18 it's garbage so there you go there's my there's my overall impression if you
62:22 don't if you want to do anything other than like start playing a random music
62:26 on your computer there's no point in having that's something that you know what's funny is I found after our
62:30 discussion last week about uh voice control and where we got all annoyed
62:34 with each other I'd say that was probably about our fourth best our
62:38 fourth best on camera Tiff um yeah I was
62:42 I was using I think voice control is extremely important yeah yeah yeah I don't want to have will be great the
62:47 point is this week I found myself using it a fair bit and uh and using it for
62:52 things where it was really useful and then using it for things where it was
62:57 totally rubbish and the funny thing about that is one of the experiences I
63:00 had with it where I was just like yeah this is never going to be useful for this was playing music and you were I
63:05 remembered you telling me well no the the the only reason why it was useful
63:09 was you just say hey C Cortana can you play some music well yeah but I could do
63:12 that play Okay Google Play
63:17 Music and it's like here we go I'm going to play music and it's like what what M
63:23 what music are you playing do I do I even want to listen to that oh I don't
63:26 want my twitch stream turned off wait stop okay Google don't play
63:29 music whoa that worked oh no you paus it finger okay I was like holy crap one
63:34 thing that's really annoying with Cortana too is you know how with um like
63:38 Okay Google or Okay Google now yeah it it will hey shut
63:43 up it will hear you and then go like B
63:47 and then you respond to it right like it's it's it hears you lets it lets you
63:51 know that it heard you and then you respond this is how a conversation works
63:54 it's fairly natural with Cortana which is supposed to be like talking to your
63:58 computer you have to communicate like me yeah like yeah there's no there's no
64:03 Gap C to do this yes yeah and if you don't it's like what was that and then
64:07 turns off the mic what are you kidding
64:11 me what was that I'm just not going to listen to you and the thing stays up and
64:16 like the circle stops spitting but just sits there and I'm like are you are you
64:19 are you still listening the next big step for natural interaction with voice
64:23 control has to be angry interaction yeah
64:28 shut the hell up and your phone has to stop doing everything it's doing and
64:31 shut up yes that should be a thing when that happens then we'll talk again hey
64:36 Cortana stop that should be like a yeah that
64:40 should work that should definitely work and like there needs there needs to be
64:44 more settings especially for the desktop one because man having it open a window
64:48 or a tab and bringing it to front and being searching something not cool and
64:53 like it again if you if it didn't know the answer I'd be totally fine with that
64:57 if it was like uh sorry I don't know I'd
65:00 be like okay I'll go open a tab and I'll
65:04 freaking thing in when I want it when I want to which is probably not now if I'm
65:08 busy with something and you're going to Bing search the whole point of using voice control was I had stuff to do yes
65:13 yeah like so I'll do that later and I'll use Google so go
65:18 away um politicians are supporting
65:21 Comcast's Time Warner Cable merger with
65:25 letters ghost written by Comcast yay United
65:32 States we should be interesting to be a politician sometimes because
65:36 like the people that are paying you to do things don't even trust you enough to
65:41 do them so they just do it for you so do you actually have to do anything don't
65:45 they have like 33 days off or 33 weeks off couldn't be I don't
65:50 Congress or something has something insane I don't remember what it I don't remember what it is but it's a lot and
65:54 then like when they do decide to actually go to work it's like oh well
65:57 this was Ghost written by someone else so just there you go I'll just sign it and put our official you know letter
66:02 head on it and all that stuff so basically um email correspondence was
66:06 obtained through a public records request so nothing special uh showed
66:10 that the letter from the mayor of Rosewell Georgia was actually written by
66:15 a VP of external Affairs at Comcast the letter was part of what Comcast called
66:20 an outpouring of thoughtful and positive comments about the controversial merger
66:26 um this was money of many letters that were the same or similar in origin and
66:30 neither the corporation nor the states that the officials represent made any
66:33 attempt to notify the public that the corporation had any role in writing the
66:38 letters um so this got me thinking sorry
66:41 I'm going to completely change gears I don't think we really need to have a long conversation about how this is BS
66:46 and needs to not happen so here's what I was
66:49 thinking what if we brought politics
66:53 into the 21st century
66:56 so I run for office just wait I run for
67:00 office buy gas hold on hold on okay I
67:04 just thought you you know the campaign bus you could buy gas for the campaign anyway sorry keep going okay so I run
67:09 for office with the campaign promise
67:12 that every day when I wake up in the morning with the exception of when I go
67:16 to the bathroom or am being intimate with my wife or whatever the case may be
67:21 I wear a GoPro seriously a streaming GoPro a
67:26 streaming GoPro so if anyone wants to know
67:31 anything that I any Shady underhanded
67:34 dealings that I was participating easy though oh I'm with my wife again and
67:40 just go to a meeting okay but I think people were going to figure out that
67:44 like I'm at the office and someone goes bing bong and I'm like oh it's my wife I
67:50 mean that that's inexplicable right there what's my wife doing at work why
67:54 are we having relations in the middle the day at the office well maybe you
67:58 maybe her name is Monica Lewinsky I don't
68:02 yeah I don't know I I have to imagine it would be too easy to get around but it
68:07 is an interesting idea it's completely impractical for a lot of different
68:10 reasons you know there's all the privacy concerns I like what they're doing with
68:15 the the police where they're getting the police to wear the cameras and all that
68:18 kind of stuff I think that's cool I don't know if it makes sense for your
68:21 president for someone like a president obviously not cuz there's a lot of top
68:24 secret stuff but for someone like a municipal official I can't imagine
68:28 they're doing anything top secret I see no reason why people shouldn't have a
68:34 live feed to the conversation we're having about why the toll on this bridge
68:38 is so bloody much and you're doing this other stupid thing with the taxpayers
68:42 money I do think that should be a thing and every like like the municipality of
68:48 whatever on their website they should just have an area where you can click on
68:52 it just has a log of all the videos they just have a YouTube account and just
68:55 every meeting every every Gathering of people that they have just whatever just
69:00 stream it but I I just I was thinking some dude is going to be interesting the
69:03 social media politician would be a really interesting New Concept well the
69:08 social media astronaut is a big deal right now so the social media politician
69:12 would also make a ton of sense and certain politicians have done that to a
69:15 degree some of them have done it a little bit but I think they I think they
69:19 no one's really outed themselves over controversial decisions that they've had
69:23 to make or they've been involved in whereas I think the true social media
69:27 politician would have to just say and and you know what they'd end up they'd
69:30 end up getting kicked out immediately like we knew this was going to happen but it would be an interesting
69:34 experiment because it would be like you know blah blah blah had this
69:38 conversation blah blah blah obviously doesn't understand the issue and then
69:42 the next day you know when it turns out that other person was right they'd have to be yep turns out you know I was
69:47 completely wrong this like if we actually had a stream of Consciousness
69:50 feed that'd be interesting I actually wouldn't mind that because one thing
69:54 that I think is a little all right apparently Rand Paul is doing this who
69:58 the devil is Rand Paul got to be American that's an American yeah yeah
70:02 some dude said that he's going to sign up as a contributor to The Forum for a
70:06 year if I say AMD eats NVIDIA so I just said that thanks for your wow that you
70:12 you could be a politician Contrition you know yeah I don't know that could work I
70:17 could rally for more internet and better
70:21 better computer Labs and high schools
70:24 and yeah stuff like that investment less into
70:28 Hollywood and more tweets fake phone call between Jeb Bush and someone fake
70:34 phone call that wasn't I think really what we meant by all of
70:39 this slams Bush hypocrisy on something
70:42 something anyway um I think I think the the like the video feed of meetings
70:47 would be really interesting like if we could if we could just see what complete
70:51 idiots a lot of these people are um I think that would heavily affect
70:57 voting all right so let's move on uh Cooler Master is doing the case mod
71:01 World Series and this was it's actually you know what's really funny is the most
71:06 unusual thing about the case mod World Series was
71:10 um I I keep like someone that I used to
71:14 work with at ocz started like favoring my tweets and replying to stuff that I
71:18 was saying all of a sudden I was like what the what the devil does Jess want all of a sudden we haven't talked in
71:23 like 2 years and uh and it turns out that ocz is one of the sponsors of the
71:27 case mod World Series I was like oh okay she's following the stuff that I'm
71:30 saying about this so what's cool about this is that you've got about a week to
71:35 enter so not a whole lot of time but
71:38 unlike a lot of the other modding contests where it's like yeah we've got
71:42 great prizes of Hardware that the top modders have unlimited access to uh this
71:47 one has some prizes provided by Dremel which is a little unusual like tool
71:51 companies get involved in like car modding stuff but generally not in
71:56 computering stuff so this is like a whole other level of acknowledgement
71:59 that's super cool the community's never seen Dremel is a big deal in the PC
72:03 Community but like the fact that they're acknowledging that they're a big deal in
72:06 PC Community is actually kind of cool that's really neat and the other really
72:09 cool thing about this one is anyone can register and unlike most case moding
72:13 competitions that I've seen um there are different tiers so you don't have to
72:17 compete against heavyweights if you're a beginner modder so um so yeah you guys
72:22 should check it out how do the tear work it's mod. coolermaster decom I think
72:26 there's about $25,000 in prizes uh up to
72:30 $2,000 cash prize so first place X1
72:34 second place X1 Tower builds uh scratch
72:38 build people's choice Rising Star so
72:41 there's a new category where our judges select the most promising young star in
72:45 the modding scene so someone who's relatively unknown very very cool so
72:51 there you go there's a bunch of cool stuff mod. master.com
72:55 they've got the winners from last year this isn't the first time they've done it it's sponsored by Intel ASUS Cooler
73:00 Master presumably although this is funny they're logo is not down
73:04 here I mean they have one up here but like sponsored by and Cooler Master is
73:10 not on your Cooler Master case mod World Series sponsored by these guys hey we're
73:14 a media partner that's cool Nick does all kinds
73:18 of things some days I'm not sure what it is
73:22 but you're not the First Media partner no apparently bit tech.net is first damn
73:28 you
73:31 bitn bit man then I said dot neck we're
73:36 not doing great right now did you have another one of those
73:40 weeks bit
73:44 neck no actually oh that makeup uh
73:48 pirate B staff kicked from the website no one caught that one now in Revolt
73:52 well I did I show up to the office and he's getting
73:56 he's getting our makeup artist who's actually here to make us up as Paul and
74:01 Kyle applying makeup to his neck I'm like gee I'm sure glad you're using
74:05 company resources for your covering up your personal
74:11 time all right so go watch this and just be like
74:16 a so this article is from Torrent freak.com Pirate Bay won't make a full
74:22 comeback staff revolt so basically some
74:25 admins and mods on the Pirate Bay are butt hurt we've decided that word is
74:29 okay to use over the fact that um they
74:32 basically have been shown the door with the new lighter Pirate Bay that figures
74:37 it doesn't need a whole lot of Staff in order to do its thing yes and as someone
74:42 who at least knows the administrator for
74:45 a fairly popular but not nearly as well trafficked as the piratebay.com orse or
74:51 whatever it is they're doing these days site I will say that they are probably
74:55 right yeah although I'm sure they're like comment moderation wait wrong
75:00 they're probably wrong that they don't need people that's what I meant to say
75:03 yes yeah yeah I'm sure their like comment moderation and stuff is not
75:07 really like I bet you most of those guys are mainly focused on just keeping the
75:11 website alive more than anything like I bet you it's it's slightly different
75:16 than what we do so basically um the the
75:20 guys that are splitting off are going to make their own site with Blackjack and
75:24 hookers presumably and uh basically they have a backup of the
75:29 Pirate Bay site before it went offline and they're just going to start their
75:33 own thing the the seemingly lead guy behind it the WTC swe is very openly
75:41 very mad yeah something along the L pretty golden quotes horse plop or
75:47 something yeah you know Brandon do you know the number of
75:52 times I've had the conversation with him about how bleeping works online as Tech
75:55 tips he left the word h [ __ ] I know in one of our episodes recently he's like
76:00 well I didn't know I was supposed to bleep that whereas he bleeped ass in the
76:04 Stormtrooper rap and I'm just like TV
76:07 rules Man TV rules you watch TV he's
76:10 like I watch HBO and I'm like but one am
76:14 I one of I I still don't understand this about our censorship which you think is
76:18 okay I still don't okay we're going to straw pull this cuz I know where you're
76:21 going I'm going to straw pull this if you're if you're saying a word
76:25 and like let's say it's f u c k and you say you you can fully hear someone say
76:31 you can fully hear someone say F and then you hear them start the U like uh
76:37 and then they drag it out for a long time and you bleep and then the bleep
76:41 goes away before the U is done being said so f u uh bleep uh c k so you def
76:49 obvious what you said you definitely hear every single part of the word there
76:54 is zero if you cut out the bleep it is the full
76:58 word and it was pronounced remember we're talking a one syllable word here
77:02 in this case where it's like okay so here here's the straw pull guys so we're
77:05 talking a one syllable word so but you're not even you're you're if you
77:10 have the the sound of the first letter and the sound of the last letter there's
77:13 it's obviously going to be clear what you were intending to say which I
77:18 maintain is is the correct type of censorship because you're not actually
77:23 trying to take away the meaning of what the person's saying you are just trying
77:27 to make it so you didn't word like the U or the c or or both I mean like you
77:33 didn't even chop out the middle of the word you didn't even fully chop out one
77:36 letter well I think the issue with the one that you're all butur about is that
77:41 it was a beep over top of the audio track instead of cutting the audio track
77:46 during the beep so that's part of why you could hear it so very well okay I'm
77:51 talking about more than one but that is probably that was probably the the one
77:55 that me to start talking about it yeah it looks like people are divided 5050 on
77:59 this issue well see so we're both right are exactly aligned with how we should
78:05 be part of this is I bet you some people are saying that it oh bleep middle of
78:09 the word bleep the whole word yeah see I bet you the people that are saying bleep the middle of the word again it's not
78:15 you're not bleeping the middle of the word that's part of the problem you you
78:18 you didn't bleep out a whole letter yeah like like there was it it was not
78:23 effectively bleeped at all and then there's some people that are going to argue that it just shouldn't be bleeped
78:27 and like there's yeah I left that out because I was more interested in how it
78:31 should be bleeped as opposed to that you know the I think we can all see a lot of
78:34 people in chat are saying no bleep and like that that has its own Merit but I'm saying if you're going to anyways you
78:40 might as well do it effectively instead of just but not cutting any I would make
78:44 the opposite argument you might as well not do it effectively because I don't
78:48 think we need to censor the word anyway if you're going to say the word say the word and to me the bleep is like the
78:53 bleep is like appeasing the censorship deities that's all it is uh okay see if
78:58 that's the goal then that's fine then that's fine goal that's all I want to do
79:01 cuz I don't really care about the censorship stuff either and but I think we can all agree the wrong way to do it
79:06 is the way we did it on Stormtrooper rap where the music it cuts the that was not
79:12 how that was no was I know why there were time constraints yeah yeah
79:17 basically I know why it was a problem but yeah that wasn't that wasn't the
79:20 right way to do that that was a draft that was a draft of the song that was
79:24 was never the finished version yeah um
79:28 wow we have a lot of stuff left does
79:32 does any of it matter yeah um The
79:35 Witcher 3 stuff is all kind of bull why don't we just do kind of headlines sure
79:39 so there's new evidence of Counter-Strike Global Offensive match fixing not surprising so basically CSG
79:46 go is a gigantic pile of garbage right
79:49 now in the competitive scene and we should all be completely ignoring it
79:54 because there's match fixing there's cheating at the very highest level and
79:58 until valve can get their game figured out basically quit yeah until the
80:03 tournament organizers can figure out how to fix this it just needs to completely
80:07 go away and all these people involved in this crap need to stop making money
80:11 which is a real shame because for the honest players out there this is their
80:15 livelihoods that are being damaged by the actions of others which is UN out
80:19 there I mean it's it's kind of like if honest YouTubers like us that are making
80:23 a living by making YouTube videos um all of a sudden have the credibility of
80:28 YouTube as a platform damaged by other people who are I mean I can't imagine
80:32 what you could do on YouTube that would be equivalent to this but but it it's
80:37 totally unfair and it's crappy but until
80:40 people vote with their wallets and just don't watch and just don't get involved
80:44 it's not going to go away uh so that was posted on the Forum
80:47 by Rahi Kumar SP speaking of Rahi Kumar
80:51 SP he also post posted that Bill Gates
80:54 tricked Jimmy Fallon into drinking poop water which is a bit sensationalist as
80:58 far as headlines go but this is a great segment and we're just going to play it
81:02 for you guys it's awesome hopefully CH it down a little
81:06 bit it's yeah yeah yeah it's like four minutes I'm going to skip to the uh the stunning conclusion so basically um
81:11 Bill's talking or Mr Gates is talking about um hold on we have to get the
81:16 Princess Bride uh sequence in here um so
81:20 is talking about this water purification system where um it's inexpensive and
81:25 produces both electricity and clean water from sewage so um Mr Gates
81:31 challenges Mr Fallon here to choose whichever glass he prefers one of which
81:37 he says has poop water and one of which has regular bottled water so oh you
81:42 can't oh you can't see that he's not looking he's just like look I don't I
81:45 don't I don't I don't know I I trust you to be a good person and give me the
81:49 glass with the with the non poop water
81:52 yeah so they both drink I'm going to turn the audio on
81:58 here what do you think which one did you
82:02 get making sure that you drank it all
82:05 right no no I I I this one actually tasted pretty good you just drank yours
82:12 cheers you watched this right I actually didn't oh it's great wow I didn't just
82:18 cuz I I I knew what the conclusion was going to be but I probably should watch
82:22 I'm pretty confident that that was this was the bottle of water I
82:28 didn't realize I did a spr thing which is really was all all poop
82:31 water so there you go guys the whole thing the whole thing was poop water um
82:37 always falls off his chair he does that like all the
82:41 time uh but basically it tastes fine
82:44 it's perfectly safe looks absolutely fantastic um Mr Gates wants to get this
82:49 rolled out in Africa as widely and as quickly as
82:53 possible um it's much much less expensive I mean
82:57 it's not like technology doesn't exist like this already today I mean it's it's space station where do you think they're
83:01 getting water from recycling uh your TAP where do you think
83:06 you're getting water from recycling so
83:10 just I mean it's not a new idea it's just this new inexpensive omn processor
83:15 way is uh I know someone who works at a water recycling planted BCS less
83:20 expensive who does I know someone who does you don't know them yeah probably
83:23 gross yeah gross me out to see what they're doing but it is what it is I've
83:26 been near their work disgusting yeah
83:30 yeah doesn't smell good what else we got Witcher three footage is out obvious
83:35 texture downgrade from the old videos so uh this was posted by death Jester on
83:39 the for that's a great name for someone posting about something like this yes
83:44 it's like serious joke
83:47 there's there's a lot of like okay just
83:50 just don't pre-order it like you shouldn't have anyways and just wait
83:53 till it comes out we'll figure it out then feel like a
83:58 broken record sometimes just trying to get like the rumor stuff to just like
84:01 shut up and wait till they figure it out and trying to get this to just just just
84:05 shut up and wait till it comes out don't pre-order it don't buy it right now
84:09 don't do any of that junk just freaking wait till it comes out we'll figure it
84:12 out down sampling is not going to be or Uber sampling sorry is not going to be
84:16 there when the game releases that'll be a big deal once it's available um it's
84:20 freaking CD project red so there's going to be DLC like crazy for free um after
84:26 it's out so like don't pre-order it and
84:29 probably don't even buy it right away just wait they are saying that the uh
84:33 the minimum the recommended settings are targeted at 30 FPS but they don't say
84:38 it'll be locked to that and I really can't imagine it would be from those
84:41 guys and they're not saying PC and console will look the same just that
84:45 they'll be based on the same starting point so I think this is a lot of freaking out over nothing and I think
84:49 what they're probably doing is just demoing the same version across the
84:53 board so they're not setting un realistic expectations for the users of
84:56 one platform versus another one which as far as marketing things go is pretty
85:01 benign it's fine just wait till it comes
85:05 out it doesn't matter oh my God I know
85:08 so many people have been freaking out and my general message so far has been
85:11 it's very possibly a lost and translation thing cuz he said something
85:16 that sounded kind of like it could be taken poorly so one just exploded over
85:20 it but it's probably just an equalization for expectation like he was
85:25 talking about and you'll if you have a
85:28 NASA supercomputer you'll probably be able to run it great it's a CD project
85:32 Red game so for the first little while that it's out it'll be very hard to run
85:35 and then better Hardware will come out and it'll be totally fine um but yeah
85:40 just a little more reason to wait and buy it later yes uh so our next our next
85:44 topic here oh for crying out loud this is really making me mad now that I have
85:49 to uh now that I have to open it and
85:52 then copy the link from URL bar of my new town this is why I used to do it for
85:57 you is I thought you were doing this cuz that's what I was doing it takes so long
86:02 ah okay so next one's this is uh Intel's
86:06 y gig 7 gbit per second wireless docking
86:09 Tech that looks pretty freaking awesome you know a fair Mo about this cuz you did the laptop thing at CES right this
86:14 was posted by a Ming on the Forum and oh
86:18 that site is not a thing anymore or that
86:21 article uh this was actually we were going to talk about this last week and
86:24 we didn't get to it yeah but you have firsthand experience with this right no
86:28 I haven't tried it Oh I thought you had a I thought you tried a laptop with this so it's very short range 60 GHz and
86:34 delivers up to 7 gbit per second and basically like by short range we mean
86:38 like short range like within sort of
86:42 your your desk um but the idea is that you'll be able to run things like
86:47 displays peripherals even highspeed USB
86:50 devices wirelessly as long as you are
86:53 close close enough to your docking station so this would be like a triple
86:57 Band Wi-Fi 2.45 and 60 GHz where the 60
87:02 gz would be used for this uh y gig docking technology truly wire free in
87:09 the triband AC 17265 um Wireless module so you've got
87:15 your fast AC you've got your 802.11 a y
87:18 gig and any laptop tablet or twoin one featuring this technology is already set
87:22 up to seamlessly pair with a DOT featuring an Intel wireless gigabit sync
87:27 cool pretty freaking I'd love to test
87:30 this out yeah me too I really want to try this yeah yeah yeah um let me just
87:35 see it can auto dock with your Dev with your desktop wirelessly
87:40 uh yeah I guess that's pretty much it can support up to two full HD displays
87:46 so we're talking like two 1080p monitors can you can just wirelessly dock with
87:50 them and I their claiming latency is very low so pretty exciting I'm
87:56 excited Ireland apparently will accept selfies for passport photos it's not
88:00 it's it's like a kind of more of a local tra uh travel thing and within the EU
88:06 thing it's not like a full world passport so it's a passport like ID card
88:10 available for about 40 bucks passport like it's not a passport all right Apple
88:15 made a ton of money qb1 earnings of 74.6 billion in revenue and profit of 18
88:21 billion biggest quarter ever for Apple uh by contrast Samsung's profits fell
88:27 significantly it's hard to be an Android phone maker hey it's like yay we have
88:31 this free OS that we don't have to pay for but we still can't make any
88:36 money super unfortunate
88:41 uh qualcom confirms loss of a large
88:44 customer speculated to be Samsung this was posted by GeForce FTW on the Forum
88:48 by the way the last one was from Sir numbers um Q4 earnings release the
88:53 company revealed expectations that our Snapdragon 810 processor will not be in
88:57 the upcoming design cycle of a large customers Flagship device speculated to
89:02 be Samsung as they're set to use their own exos CPUs in the next Galaxy S
89:05 because of overheating of the Snapdragon 810 so qualcomm's expected earnings fell
89:11 only by .8 billion from between 2.8
89:14 billion and 2.6 2 28.8 billion and 26.8
89:18 billion to 28 and 26 LG has already confirmed it plans to use the 810 and
89:23 its upcoming G Flex 2 which should make up for the losses due to this galaxy
89:26 srop who wrote that no it won't but a
89:30 Flex 2 is going to be equivalent to the upcoming s whatever I think
89:36 not oh no I just swiped something away I
89:39 think I just archived something and that is incredibly bad who was that uhoh who
89:45 was that email from I should not play with my phone no during not looking at
89:50 its screen time anyways uhoh is is this the show over
89:54 should we after party sure okay while I try and figure this out I'm going to
89:59 start playing roll the outro that's not the music can I just
90:03 fix this well you broke it so yeah you broke it look at how you're breaking it
