0:00 Why are we doing this?
0:02 I am coming for you.
0:03 Jono, what is this?
0:07 Okay.
0:08 Yeah, this box is like,
0:12 there's holes in it.
0:13 What happened to you?
0:14 In order to get into a package with a screw,
0:17 first, you just, you just give it a poke.
0:20 Power cord, webcam, okay.
0:24 Cable management clip, keyboard and mouse.
0:26 This, ew, this weighs nothing.
0:28 Is there anything in here?
0:30 So there's the power cable.
0:31 It feels like it was half the weight.
0:33 So this, this box lied.
0:35 We're supposed to have a keyboard and a mouse in here.
0:39 Oh, some items may be in separate packaging.
0:41 Okay.
0:42 This actually feels like a hefty keyboard.
0:44 Oh, nevermind.
0:47 Wow, that's substantial for such a slim keyboard.
0:50 They actually, yeah, they don't feel bad.
0:52 Like I don't like this style of keys
0:53 for a desktop keyboard anyway,
0:55 but for what it is, it's not bad.
0:57 Plus you've got brightness controls and stuff,
1:00 basically like Apple.
1:02 It looks nicer than the Apple Magic Keyboard.
1:06 You think that this looks nicer than like aluminum?
1:09 Yes.
1:10 You think it, okay.
1:11 I'm just gonna, just gonna grab it.
1:15 Looks pretty nice,
1:16 but I think the only reason it looks glossy
1:18 is because I'm pretty sure there's a peel under here.
1:21 How about the back?
1:23 Okay, so we've got actually a fairly substantial amount
1:27 of IO here.
1:28 We've got, there's our power.
1:30 Jono clarified that this is in fact, Gigabit Ethernet.
1:32 Which makes sense.
1:34 This should be HDMI 2.1 because I see here,
1:36 there's a little sticker for GeForce RTX graphics
1:40 along with, I believe that's 12th gen core.
1:43 Let's, no?
1:46 11th gen.
1:48 But what are we doing reviewing this thing, Jono?
1:53 Oh, right.
1:54 We're unboxing it.
1:55 Why are we unboxing last year's tech?
1:58 So we got three super speed USB ports.
2:01 Those are not colored correctly,
2:03 but nobody cares anymore, apparently.
2:06 Two Thunderbolt ports.
2:07 That's pretty sweet.
2:09 Have a Thunderbolt dock
2:10 if your onboard graphics aren't enough.
2:12 Plus we have a, I guess that's a headset jack.
2:15 There's more.
2:17 Look at this.
2:18 There's actually IO on the stand.
2:20 We got two more USB ports, another type C port.
2:23 Not sure, I can't see from here
2:24 if that's Thunderbolt or not.
2:25 And also what looks like an SD card reader.
2:28 That's really cool.
2:29 I can't help but notice
2:31 that there's another little thing down here.
2:33 Now, normally what this kind of thing conceals is more IO.
2:37 Maybe there's actually even more than we've already seen.
2:40 So I'm just going to grab this and pull it off.
2:46 That was entirely tool-less.
2:48 It's actually magnetic a little bit, I think.
2:51 It's like, yeah, it's magnetic.
2:52 It stays up like that.
2:53 Then you just clip it in on either side.
2:57 It's going to make a liar out of me now.
2:59 Yeah, just go ahead and yank on this.
3:03 Yeah.
3:04 Yeah, just give it a yank.
3:05 Oh, that's fun.
3:06 Oh wow, it's really easy.
3:07 Yeah.
3:08 Only 16 gigabytes.
3:08 16.
3:10 Well, I told you, this is last year's tech.
3:12 Why are we unboxing last year's tech?
3:14 We need 32 gigs at minimum
3:16 and we need 12th gen core at minimum.
3:18 And we also need all Thunderbolt 4 ports.
3:21 Every one of the USB type A ports
3:23 needs to be 10 gigabits per second.
3:24 And we need to get 10 gigabit Ethernet as well on here.
3:28 And if that HDMI port isn't 2.1 compliant,
3:31 I am coming for you.
3:33 I didn't know he actually, he ordered it.
3:37 Really?
3:39 Yeah, I did order it.
3:40 Why?
3:41 It looked cool.
3:42 It's just too bad.
3:43 Hey, at least you can upgrade the RAM.
3:47 Yeah, you can upgrade the RAM.
3:48 There are two NVMe ports on there, I think,
3:50 or maybe one is NVMe and one is SATA.
3:52 I'll have to take a look and see.
3:53 I mean, it doesn't tilt or anything,
3:55 but it does go up and down.
3:59 Doesn't really do side to side.
4:01 Apple could take notes like this one right here.
4:05 Yeah, and in fact, Apple used to be pretty easy.
4:08 There was a button you pushed.
4:09 It opened a door.
4:10 Apple, why can't you do this anymore?
4:13 Why are we doing this?
4:14 Why?
4:24 Apple used to care.
4:25 Oh yeah, the power cord.
4:27 It came in a whole separate box, the power cord.
4:31 Like it wasn't attached to the back of the monitor.
4:33 I didn't have to like check whether or not I was sane
4:36 looking at the back of the monitor.
4:38 Like what is that on the back of the monitor?
4:40 Could that possibly be a power cable?
4:42 Where's the power cable?
4:43 Oh, it is in fact on the back of the monitor.
4:46 Why?
4:47 I don't know.
4:48 Hey, let's try taking it off.
4:49 You can't?
4:50 Oh, watch this.
4:52 There you go.
4:53 Watch that.
4:54 Yeah, yeah.
4:55 And you know what?
4:57 If I, oh, there's actually a little tab here
5:06 and I'm not sure why.
5:07 Cause it's gonna have to come this way, right?
5:09 Wait, what?
5:12 It's not a full peel.
5:14 Is this just glossy?
5:15 It's really glossy.
5:17 It needs a wipe.
5:18 Oh, I didn't even notice this.
5:21 Is that a wireless charging dock?
5:23 How useful.
5:24 So you just throw your phone there,
5:25 which you're probably gonna do anyway, let's be honest.
5:28 And it'll charge.
5:29 Oh man, there's no way I can make this thing look good.
5:31 Like even if, like, just look.
5:32 Looking at it.
5:33 Every time I look at it, there's another streak.
5:35 And it's like, where are these coming from?
5:37 I don't understand.
5:39 I have yet to see a power button.
5:42 Maybe that's where the key,
5:44 like maybe it's the keyboard that does that?
5:46 Computer on.
5:48 Can you see where we can turn, how to turn this on?
5:50 Oh, I love a challenge.
5:54 Well, if I can't turn this on, I guess I'm screwed.
5:59 And first I need to talk to you
6:01 about our sponsor, Manscaped, anyway.
6:02 Thanks to Manscaped for sponsoring today's video.
6:06 Manscaped has partnered with the Testicular Cancer Society
6:08 to help you take care down there.
6:10 This year for a limited time,
6:12 get their new special edition
6:13 TCS Lawn Mower 4.0 electric and waterproof trimmer.
6:17 With its launch, Manscaped will be donating $50,000
6:20 to the Testicular Cancer Society
6:22 to help those impacted by testicular cancer.
6:24 Head to manscaped.com slash TCS.
6:27 And as always, use code CIRCUIT
6:29 to get a 20% off your first order and free shipping.
6:33 How could there not be an obvious power button?
6:36 This is insane.
6:37 Maybe, okay, maybe there's something under,
6:38 like on the underside of it, like if we tip it over.
6:41 You know what, we're getting desperate, so.
6:44 No.
6:45 It took me a while to find it.
6:46 No, I touched, I touched there.
6:48 I don't feel anything there.
6:50 It's the tiniest button ever.
6:52 They could have it pulse light or something,
6:54 so you'd know.
6:56 The dongle does appear to be built in,
6:59 so I don't need these.
7:01 Okay, so what is this?
7:02 It's.
7:03 It's mad at you.
7:04 It doesn't like your phone.
7:05 Clearly.
7:06 Yeah, okay, so I guess it doesn't wanna charge my phone.
7:08 Why?
7:09 Yeah, let me try my phone.
7:10 It's smaller.
7:17 Oh, and the webcam, right.
7:18 How could I forget the webcam?
7:19 Whoa, what?
7:20 Yeah, that's a thing.
7:22 Now, why are you unboxing things?
7:24 Because I don't really get this privilege
7:28 being kind of stuck in my corner full of Apple products.
7:34 It's probably at least partially magnetic, isn't it?
7:36 Yeah, it is magnetic, but it's.
7:37 Yeah.
7:38 Why would you do that?
7:39 Tell me what you think.
7:40 I like a chunky webcam.
7:41 There's something substantial about it.
7:42 I would prefer a chunky webcam that looks good
7:45 to a sling webcam that doesn't.
7:47 Yes, yes.
7:48 Also, here's something we can do about that.
7:51 Hey, hold on, let me add this, add this.
7:54 Just goes right into these holes,
7:55 and once it's all the way in,
7:58 it is held together with those magnets.
8:01 Yeah, this is a 4K ultra wide, is what this is.
8:03 It's 2160p tall, 5120 pixels wide.
8:08 Let's see.
8:09 HDR compliant.
8:10 It doesn't look like it is.
8:12 God, why would you maximize a window
8:13 across an ultra wide like this?
8:15 So they call this a 5K panel.
8:18 Not true.
8:23 This is anti-glare.
8:24 They definitely failed on the anti-glare.
8:27 I don't really see any effort put into anti-glare here.
8:32 No?
8:33 Like I don't really see any like frosting
8:35 or anything like that.
8:36 No.
8:36 In some cases, if you've got a lot of ambient light,
8:39 but not a lot of direct light,
8:41 a glossy screen can be more readable than a matte screen.
8:45 But if you do have direct light,
8:46 like a window or studio lighting coming in at you,
8:49 then you're going to see shadows
8:51 and all sorts of other stuff.
8:54 But get out of here.
8:55 What was this used for?
8:56 Get out of here.
8:57 You're adding nothing.
8:59 Welcome to today's episode of Pack Address,
9:01 where we talk about Hewlett Packard devices.
9:04 So this, okay, straight away, laptop GPU.
9:07 So they definitely do not have a desktop class GPU in here.
9:11 The CPU, yes.
9:12 But it checks out.
9:13 I mean, the display in this lighting, it's difficult to tell,
9:15 but it looks pretty good to me.
9:17 So far from what I've heard of the little Windows chimes,
9:20 the speakers are rather nice.
9:23 They are by Bang & Olufsen.
9:25 I see we've got McAfee LiveSafe pre-installed.
9:28 What else do we have here?
9:29 Adobe Offers, MyHP.
9:30 Okay, so MyHP is probably fine.
9:32 Dropbox promotion, why?
9:34 Anyway, they got Duet Display, which is interesting,
9:36 which means you could use Duet Display to use a tablet
9:41 or some other machine to extend your display,
9:45 your desktop onto.
9:47 This mouse is actually a problem.
9:48 Like I'm sitting here trying to set up OBS
9:50 so I can screen record for you guys.
9:52 And like the tracking sensitivity is not good enough.
9:56 Basically, I went down, hit apply or okay, and I hit cancel,
9:59 just because like the tracking is so weird.
10:02 Yeah, it's really good.
10:04 I don't think it has local dimming,
10:06 but the contrast ratio and the brightness
10:09 is actually pretty good.
10:10 It gives a fake effect of HDR just looking at it like this
10:14 as a result of that.
10:14 Because it has that 500 nit peak brightness,
10:16 it's the same as the Apple Studio display.
10:19 So it looks really good,
10:21 but it doesn't have that HDR tone mapping, you know?
10:24 Just as Alex walks in.
10:26 Oh, wow.
10:29 It doesn't get as loud as I thought it would,
10:30 but the top end is pretty sharp.
10:38 It's not terrible.
10:39 High is really good, mid's really good.
10:42 The sound, like the bass is, it's good,
10:44 but it's like, it doesn't go too far down.
10:46 Like, you know?
10:47 Yeah.
10:48 It's, it doesn't have...
10:50 It's not rumbling your butt.
10:51 Yeah, well, they got the,
10:52 oh, they got a bang on the Olsen sound control.
10:54 Oh, the bass is cranked a little bit.
10:56 It's at 69%.
10:58 Nice.
10:59 So what if I were to turn all of this off?
11:01 What does it sound like now?
11:04 Oh.
11:05 Oh.
11:05 Oh.
11:07 Turn it back on.
11:11 The stock setting is actually pretty good.
11:12 Oh, nice.
11:13 They do have it.
11:14 The display control.
11:15 That's what I wanted.
11:16 What I really like is that you can do the auto color,
11:18 because then you can go from like Lightroom
11:20 to your websites and stuff,
11:21 and it'll automatically switch like SRGB and Adobe RGB.
11:25 All right, let us try out that webcam.
11:29 Okay.
11:30 Oh, hey, it's got facial recognition.
11:31 It knows when people are in frame.
11:33 It looks like it's doing autofocus a lot,
11:35 which is kind of weird.
11:36 And there's Jono.
11:37 Oh, I can set the autofocus.
11:38 Set where it should be.
11:39 Oh, I see.
11:40 So it actually has like kind of a built-in ring light.
11:43 That's interesting.
11:44 I'm not sure how actually useful it is,
11:47 but I guess it's better than nothing.
11:50 What do we have here?
11:51 Oh, okay.
11:52 So I can adjust the aperture of it.
11:53 I can adjust the temperature of it.
11:54 So that's warm.
11:56 And that's cool.
11:57 That actually does make a difference.
12:01 It auto rotated.
12:02 What?
12:04 Whoa.
12:06 Is that built into Windows?
12:07 Yeah, you can just have,
12:08 you can straight up just have it down there.
12:10 In fact, there's a reason why it's a little bit,
12:14 a little bit halo-y.
12:15 And we forgot to do a peel.
12:17 You're gonna get to see a peel from the other side.
12:20 You are the peel this time.
12:22 Oh, here it comes.
12:26 Whoa, it's so much sharper.
12:29 I thought it was just a bad webcam.
12:30 So yeah, I guess we are hearing presumably
12:33 the speed of the microphone array
12:34 that is built into this display.
12:37 And wow, that actually, yeah, that looks really good.
12:41 Let us play some games.
12:43 Yeah, it's hovering around 60 FPS.
12:45 I'm wondering if I have V-Sync on.
12:48 It doesn't seem to be when I'm in the menu.
12:52 V-Sync is off. Okay.
12:53 So it only does about 60 FPS max at these settings,
12:59 which is 1440p wide, ultra quality.
13:04 This thing's got a really, really quiet little fan in it.
13:07 This thing is clearly struggling right now
13:09 because the CPU is gonna be hit pretty hard
13:11 in a game like Doom.
13:13 And the GPU is obviously struggling
13:15 because it's got a whole bunch of stuff going on right now.
13:18 But if I mute the audio while the game is running,
13:22 I don't, I don't hear anything.
13:24 Like.
13:25 I think I hear our server even better.
13:27 Ooh, oh, it is pumping out a lot of heat up here.
13:30 I had to say, despite the fact that I went into this,
13:33 like kind of crapping on the specs,
13:35 it's really good overall.
13:36 Like it's a good all-rounder.
13:38 Long story short, it's got a good display.
13:40 It's not the best display, but it's a good display.
13:43 It's got a good webcam.
13:45 It's not the best webcam, but it's actually pretty strong.
13:47 It's got good speakers,
13:48 if only because it has the good software.
13:51 Okay, well, this is not so good, but it works sometimes.
13:54 It's got pretty good IO.
13:56 I don't have any major complaints, to be honest,
13:59 aside from all the complaints that I've been doing.
14:00 I've been complaining this whole time
14:02 about like bloatware and stuff.
14:03 Would you buy this?
14:05 Oh, should you wait until this is the 12th?
14:08 I would say, wait for the 12th gen model.
14:11 That being said, if you get this on special in the meantime,
14:14 because the 12th gen model is gonna come, then sure.
14:18 Like this is the kind of computer
14:19 that I would buy for my grandparents.
14:21 For somebody who doesn't, you know,
14:22 need to upgrade their computer super much,
14:25 like maybe they just need to upgrade the RAM later on,
14:28 or they need to add more storage, then yeah.
14:32 This is actually super easy to get into.
14:34 And so for somebody who's not technically minded,
14:36 you could walk them through doing that very easily.
14:39 I came into this kind of not being impressed with the specs
14:43 and not being impressed with, you know,
14:44 some other aspects of it,
14:45 but it's actually really good overall.
14:47 I like it.
14:48 And I like you and the fact that you like ShortCircuit.
14:51 So get subscribed and I don't know,
14:54 maybe comment down below
14:55 what other machines or otherwise
14:57 that we should take a look at.
