0:00 today i'll be unboxing the sharkoon x-static sp this is a stereo headset it
0:05 works on playstation 3 xbox 360 as well
0:08 as pc now this is not a straight headset
0:12 because it doesn't actually have a
0:16 microphone attached to it it uses us built-in well matching but detachable
0:21 microphone so you can just use it as headphones or you can attach the
0:25 microphone and use it as a headset it is powered by usb and it has an inline
0:29 amplifier which makes perfect sense because usb does provide enough power to
0:34 run a pair of headphones like this without any difficulties
0:40 so we're gonna go ahead and open up the box here and see what is inside
0:44 with a gaming headset and this is a gaming headset i mean it says xbox 360
0:48 and playstation 3 right on the front so it should be uh
0:52 fairly self-explanatory with a gaming headset from my
0:56 perspective the biggest things are comfort because a lot of the time it's i
1:01 mean it's fairly uncommon unless you're a complete audiophile to sit and listen
1:06 to music for you know three four hours at a time but it's not all that uncommon
1:10 to get home from work and play your game for three to four hours at a time so
1:14 anything that's going to be uncomfortable you don't want to have any
1:17 pardon so here we go let's see if we can find any english on here
1:22 that i can meet
1:25 no okay well basically it shows you how to plug in a cable it's in color which
1:30 is outstanding and that's pretty much it
1:33 here is the headset itself i'm gonna take my glasses off because
1:37 i can't wear a headset and glasses at the same time
1:40 and then i'm going to figure out how exactly this
1:44 comes out of here slightly challenging ooh accessories i
1:48 think we have accessories yes so let's find out what's in there
1:52 here we have
1:56 huh
1:59 you know what give me a minute because i think those instructions are um
2:04 more in depth than just plug in the cable actually you know what don't give me a minute just bear with me here and
2:09 we'll figure all of this out so here's something here's something
2:13 else oh you know what i bet you okay actually yeah give me a minute
2:18 i have figured it out i figured out the accessories and here we're having a look
2:21 at the uh sharkoon headset here itself
2:25 so you got like a nice glossy finish on the sides you've got adjustable uh an
2:29 adjustable headband on it you've got a nice sort of a puffy pleathery this uh
2:34 looks like a very comfortable headband the ear pads could probably be a little
2:38 bit more cushiony but i imagine like most headsets once you break them in
2:41 they should be quite comfortable i'll go ahead and put them on
2:45 while i explain everything that comes with it so first of all here is the
2:50 cameraman's getting distracted
2:55 by my charm and good looks in this headset
2:58 now he's making a face okay here is the the controller so here
3:03 you can switch it between pc pds3 mode and xbox mode you can adjust your volume
3:09 you can mute your microphone or not mute it you can adjust your voice transmit
3:13 volume and then there's the xbox 360 adapter so if you want to hook it up to
3:19 xbox 360 you plug this into the side you
3:22 plug this into your xbox controller then you plug
3:27 no don't show them that i'm showing them over here that's the point of an
3:30 unboxing not to look at the manual then you plug the audio cable into here you
3:35 plug this into the back of your xbox you plug your speakers into the backs of
3:39 these and then you plug the usb into a usb port and that provides power
3:44 so there you go so the audio signal is completely unamplified and comes through
3:49 here and then you power the built-in amplifier which is presumably located
3:54 inside here with the usb port but you can still keep your speakers plugged in
3:59 you just turn your headphones off and then this is just a pass through so the
4:03 signal will still go to your speakers or your tv even if you're not using your
4:07 headset now for ps3 it's slightly simpler you basically don't need this
4:13 so you plug this in no that's not it you plug
4:17 this in and the usb port and then you are good to go or actually you probably
4:22 need to use the pass-through this is for pc and then this is for power still now
4:26 one more piece that i haven't talked about yet is the detachable mic you can
4:30 see it uses a very clever flexible design which is look at this
4:34 it's actually excellent it's like infinitely adjustable and it actually
4:39 goes in in a fairly smart way as well you can see it's not quite just a round
4:43 interface it has like a bit of a lip on it so if you go ahead and plug it in
4:46 like that and then twist it not only will it sit in the right
4:50 position but it won't come out
4:54 no amount of throwing the headset down in frustration
4:58 will cause the microphone to become detached so you can position it exactly
5:03 where you need it like if you had a mouth on the side of your neck then you
5:06 could put it there and if you don't then you could put it in a more reasonable
5:09 position like right here and other than that you've got
5:12 adjustable earcups so they go all the
5:16 way out just in case your head was sort of like this but really what that's for
5:20 is just to give you good comfort no matter what the shape of your head is you can see it can be easily positioned
5:24 either way and then cameraman wants to see the top of the headset for some
5:27 reason and last but not least you've got a little clip here so you can
5:33 secure it to your shirt or your necktie
5:37 thank you for checking out my unboxing of the sharkoon ecstatic
