0:01 - Holy shnikes. - [Andy] It's so smooth.
0:05 - On paper, this thing look absolutely sick.
0:08 Oh, I love the press packaging. This is the Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G,
0:15 Snapdragon 888 processor, 12 gigs of RAM, 256 gigs of storage
0:21 and what they call an impossible curve in the glass.
0:27 I haven't seen any pictures of this yet because I have intentionally cloistered myself
0:32 so I am excited to find out what an impossible curve is.
0:36 It's apparently made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so--
0:40 Oh, that is cool.
0:46 That... Is breathtaking.
0:50 Have you seen this Andy? - [Andy] No.
0:54 - Holy shnikes. - [Andy] It's so smooth.
0:59 - I mean, I am not a huge fan of camera bumps
1:04 but that's not a bump, that's like, it's a contour.
1:14 That's pretty cool. Okay, okay, let's start at the back.
1:17 You've got dual 50 megapixel cameras, so I've wondered this for a long time,
1:22 The cost difference between one sensor and another can't be that much, can it?
1:27 Why not just put a top quality sensor in both your main shooter and your ultra wide?
1:33 Well, that's exactly what Oppo did. Then they have a third camera that's a three megapixel
1:38 that is apparently for like micro photography.
1:42 In the front, we've got a 32 megapixel front-facing camera.
1:45 Obviously then the front would be a front-facing camera and is a hole punch, not a huge fan but let's see
1:51 if this thing can make it up to me in some other ways.
1:56 You know, one of the selling points for this form Oppo is that it's pretty light.
2:00 I actually tend to agree, at 178 grams
2:03 it doesn't feel as chunky as a lot of current flagships.
2:08 I don't know, maybe it's not that much less heavy but it definitely feels less chunky.
2:13 Now you are going to give up some spec for that. They had to use a super thin vapor chamber
2:18 in order to keep the Snapdragon 888 cool in here, and it only has a 4500 milliamp power battery,
2:24 but it does feature their VOOC fast charging,
2:27 including 30 watt wireless charging. Now I've made myself clear in the past
2:31 that I'm not super comfortable with high-speed charging, particularly high-speed wireless charging,
2:36 and it's not the best way to make your battery last as long as possible.
2:40 But at least it's there as an option if you're almost depleted and you need
2:43 to be able to top up a little bit, right before you head out of the house. Thanks to Volta for sponsoring today's video.
2:48 Their Volta spark 60 watt is a nylon braided charging cable
2:51 with their snag safe magnetic connection tip that prevents accidents.
2:55 It also allows convenient swapping between lightning, micro USB and USB Type-C.
3:00 There's another Spark version with a hundred watt support
3:03 with quick charge 4.0 to power your Google and Samsung phones faster.
3:07 So you use the link in the video description below to buy your Volta Spark cables risk-Free
3:11 with their 30 day money back guarantee and lifetime warranty.
3:15 Oh, I am not a fan of the screen protector
3:18 that they've got on this thing out of the box. I appreciate the inclusion but you can see
3:22 it doesn't quite go to the edges of what is otherwise a very,
3:26 I was a huge fan of the Galaxy S6 Edge,
3:29 like way back in the day, and I really liked that kind of feel,
3:33 the Note 7 for that matter, I really loved the shape of.
3:37 And this is a very similar shaped phone, it's nice and sleek, it's slim.
3:41 But the one thing about it that doesn't feel good in the hand
3:44 is this screen protector is not the same experience
3:48 as Gorilla Glass 5 so I'm going to take it off, it's--
3:51 Oh yeah, oh yeah, it's, it's vinyl.
3:54 - [Andy] It's not a screen protector. - Are you sure it's not? - [Andy] No, not for me.
3:59 Not even for me, so. - Yeah, no that's--
4:02 Oh, that's much better. That feels very nice in the hand.
4:07 Now, back to that finish on the back for a second though.
4:12 Probably could to use a little more fingerprint resistance. I've been sitting here for about four minutes.
4:16 (laughing) Let's see if it's at least easy to clean though
4:20 with this wonderful shirt from lttstore.com. (gasping)
4:24 Here's something I didn't think of. Look at this, check this out, Andy.
4:28 Okay, are you ready? Are you ready? - [Andy] Yeah. - Boom, no, dust and grime build-up around the camera bump.
4:34 - [Andy] So nice. - Right? I didn't even think of that.
4:38 Okay, this is a stupid, stupid thing for me to get all hung up on,
4:42 but it really does, it feels different.
4:46 Like it feels different, like here, hold on. I got do, I got to do a slide test.
4:49 I got to do a slide test here. Oh. Okay.
4:53 Hah. Hah.
4:57 Oh, Andy.
5:01 That... - [Andy] That is very smooth.
5:04 - That needs to be the future. Where's Apple with this stuff?
5:07 Included in the box, you've got a charger and a charging cable.
5:11 Yeah, 65 watts, so, we've got a fast charger and a charging cable.
5:15 Unfortunately this is not appropriate for my region. That's okay, minor details.
5:21 Oh, hello. Whoop.
5:25 Oh, these look like crappy cases,
5:29 Lo and behold, they are. It would be a crime.
5:33 Actually, It doesn't feel that crappy. That feels pretty nice.
5:36 It would still be criminal, it would be criminal to have a phone that looks this good outside of the case
5:43 and put a freaking case on it, I don't approve.
5:46 It's too good to put a layer between you and the enjoyment.
5:49 Let's set up the in-screen fingerprint sensor here, see if it's responsive.
5:54 It seems a little slow, but it remains to be seen if that's just the training period.
5:59 Positions a little bit lower than I'm used to and probably not where I prefer.
6:04 Oh, they've got face unlock though. Still not sure.
6:08 Wait, what? Oh, that was, that was very fast.
6:12 Okay. I don't know how much I trust face unlocks that are not using like the topography of your face as well.
6:20 Yeah, I like it up a little bit higher, but the advantage of this approach
6:23 is that it's a little bit easier to landmark the spot without looking at it.
6:27 Oh, there it is. I'm trying not to look at it here.
6:30 It's got a 120 Hertz display that runs at 1440 by 3216.
6:35 So whatever aspect ratio that is basically means it has extremely high pixel density
6:39 at around 516 pixels per inch. I really, with all these features, don't know
6:44 if I would expect amazing battery life out of it cause it also boasts 1300 nit peak brightness
6:51 on the OLED display. So, if you're watching HDR 10 plus content, for example,
6:55 you'd expect this thing to get pretty flipping bright.
6:59 Volume rockers over on the side, two separate buttons, then you've got your lock button over on the right.
7:04 On the bottom, we've got USB Type-C for charging as well as a dual SIM SIM slot.
7:09 Nothing on the top, but what's really nice is they managed to cram stereo speakers into it
7:14 so you've got an amplified earpiece speaker right here and then a bottom firing speaker that,
7:20 let's actually have a quick look here and see how balanced the stereo effects is.
7:24 (music playing on phone)
7:33 Typically with a very small device, my expectations are a little bit lower, but this is great.
7:38 Now I'm really curious about this three megapixel camera, Oh, and I missed one of the cameras before.
7:43 It actually has a total of five cameras, including the front-facing one,
7:46 there's also a 13 megapixel telephoto camera with a 5X hybrid optical zoom and 20X digital zoom.
7:53 So, 5X hybrid optical, let's find out what is actually optical.
7:57 Okay, so there's our little figurines
8:01 that we take pictures of there. Here it is with our main shooter.
8:05 Okay. Well, that's either an indictment of the main shooter
8:08 or an indication that these telephotos are actually pretty strong.
8:12 A little bit of noise in here, but definitely a cleaner image than the main one.
8:16 One cool thing about this device, should you decide to take advantage of it, is full support for 10-bit color.
8:21 So, sensor, firmware, software and of course the display itself are all capable
8:27 of displaying a billion colors. Now whether that'll make a difference
8:31 to you in your day-to-day life, hard to say, but it could give you a little bit more flexibility
8:36 in post if nothing else. So it's setting that you're going to have to adjust here for your photos.
8:41 Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, just like that. And it does warn you that not everything
8:46 is going to be compatible with your 10-bit pictures.
8:49 Hold on, Andy, I'm going to go for a little walk, okay? - [Andy] Sure, yeah. - I'll be right back.
8:55 Okay, let's have a look at this.
8:59 That is not bad.
9:04 So you can see it's kind of compensating there as I turned around the corner.
9:11 It's not perfect, but if I was like desperately trying
9:14 to capture something and I was in a situation where I'm kind of all over the place,
9:20 this is a lot less jitter than I'd normally be stuck with.
9:23 Not perfect. I guess the only thing left to say then is it has IP68 water resistance,
9:27 so it's supposed to stay under, I think a meter and a half of water for half an hour,
9:31 which is pretty darn good. This is a fine, fine looking
9:37 and feeling device, man. So we'll probably have a link to it in the video description
9:42 and you guys can go check out more details if you're into it, make sure you subscribe to ShortCircuit
9:45 so you don't miss more of these initial impressions. Okay, so it's dirty, right?
9:52 Oh, yeah. Perfection again.
