the Vengeance M90. Yes, I'm doing both of the 90 series Vengeance products at
0:13
the same time here and uh that is because I just got both of them. So,
0:17
there you go. Um has a great box which
0:20
comes apart very easily. I think this is a a wonderful innovation because most
0:25
blister packs I could like get a blister and a cut just trying to open them up.
0:30
And Corsair has solved that problem for me in a big way. So the M90 is pretty
0:35
similar to the M60. Uh just like the K90. That's that's the keyboards. The
0:41
you know M for mouse, K for keyboard. Just like the uh K90 is very similar to
0:46
the K60. Although I'd say the two mice are actually more similar to each other
0:51
than the keyboards are because the K90 has some real like killer features uh
0:57
that the K60 does not have. Whereas the
1:01
M90 is more of a personal preference
1:05
thing as opposed to
1:08
uh just simply having more features. Like the K90 has a backlight and the K60
1:11
doesn't. Whereas the M90 is an MMO
1:15
optimized mouse. You can see all these buttons over here. We've actually got
1:20
nine sidemounted buttons here. Uh and
1:23
the sorry, where was I going with that?
1:27
Right. Whereas the M60 has like a DPI or
1:31
not DPI lowering, a sensitivity lowering sniping button here and a couple side
1:35
buttons because it's more optimized for FPS. So, I'm going to start this video
1:40
by showing you guys one of the other MMO
1:44
oriented mice that I happen to have here in my tech tips room, and that is the
1:49
Razer Naga. So, we're going to compare the approaches that are taken by these
1:53
two companies. Um, the WOW mouse is another example of an MMO optimized
1:57
mouse. Um, and the WOW mouse I personally found very difficult to use
2:02
due to my small hands. I can't reach a lot of the buttons. The Naga I really
2:06
like. Love this mouse. Great sensor, great buttons, great shape. However, I
2:12
never ever use more than about three or
2:16
four of these, maybe the top six because by the time I'm reaching back here, I
2:20
can't tell if I'm this far back or this far back. I don't know what button I'm
2:23
pressing. Yes, they do have dimples on them, but in the heat of the moment when
2:27
you're like, mana potion, mana potion, it's not actually that easy to tell
2:31
what's what. Bring on the M90. So, the M90 positions
2:37
the buttons in a way that you can actually easily feel which button is
2:41
which pretty much regardless of the shape and size of your hands because you
2:45
can you grip it more like in a claw grip. This is the way I would grip this
2:49
mouse, although you can palm it if you want. And then your thumb rests right
2:53
here. See how it has a blank spot? That's another thing that I've heard I
2:56
don't personally have this problem, but I've heard complained about the Naga a lot is that the whole side's a button.
3:00
So, when you go to pick up the mouse, you accidentally mash things. Corsair
3:04
has given you a place to actually rest your thumb so you can easily, very
3:07
easily lift it up. And it's a bit of a heavy mouse and doesn't have the uh the
3:12
weights, the adjustable weights like the M60. So that could be a factor for you
3:16
that you can grip it very easily. Okay. Now, they've positioned the buttons in a
3:21
way that you use a different part of your thumb to actuate almost every part
3:25
of every button, which means that you'll almost never make a mistake. The very
3:28
tip of your thumb goes here. This part of your thumb goes here.
3:33
This part of your thumb goes here. This part of your thumb is used to actuate
3:39
this one. You slide back a little bit and you just kind of mash right under
3:43
the knuckle here in order to press this button. You slide back and you've got
3:48
two options here and here. And then at the bottom you've got here and here. You
3:53
can very distinctly feel, look how big the spaces are in particular between the
3:58
buttons that are very close together. That is so you can easily feel which
4:02
button is which and use all nine of them in a useful manner. Now, we've also got
4:08
uh very similar to the way it's implemented on the Naga, which
4:11
personally I don't prefer. I would the first thing I'll do with this mouse is
4:15
I'll rebind uh back and forward to something on the side is you've got your
4:19
back and forward buttons here. So, you've got a couple more buttons next to the left and the right click, which
4:24
brings us up to 11 buttons. 12 13
4:29
14. Look at that. Plus the middle click. 15 actual places where you can click
4:34
this mouse. Okay, what else we got here? So, it's a
4:37
5700 DPI sensor that is just like the M60 as well. I have used the M90 a fair
4:42
bit. I know I'm unboxing this one, but I have another one already that I've uh
4:46
that I've played around with a little bit. Really like the way the sensor
4:49
tracks. I've tried it on a variety of different surfaces, including just a
4:52
plain tablecloth, cloth mouse pad, hard mouse pad, rough hard mouse pad, and I
4:58
haven't had any difficulty with it whatsoever. Uh, this guy's got 48K of
5:02
onboard dynamically managed memory for storing up to six onthe-go profiles,
5:06
which is kind of neat. And then we've also got uh indicators over here for
5:11
which profile we happen to be using. Um,
5:15
so that's kind of neat. The aluminum frame. Yeah, let's talk about the aluminum frame and construction. So, the
5:20
uh the K60 has a bit more of like a barebones look because you can kind of
5:24
see the shape of the frame, whereas this one is more like uh more like a
5:28
traditional mouse shape. Um, but it
5:31
still does have that aluminum construction. So, you can see this shape here. You can see there's two pieces of
5:36
aluminum here that come together to form this mouse. So, what that gives it is a
5:40
little bit more weight and it also gives it a very solid feel. Now, people might
5:44
complain about something like the weight of an iPhone 4, but personally, I find
5:48
you go and you build it out of aluminum and glass. Yeah, it weighs a lot, but it
5:51
weighs a lot in the way that an SLR camera weighs a lot. You're like, "Yeah,
5:55
quality." Whereas sometimes things weigh a lot and you're like, "Yeah, heavy
6:00
piece of plastic." Um, so personally, I don't mind if my camera weighs a little
6:05
bit more than average, if my power supply weighs a little bit more than average, if my mouse weighs a little bit
6:09
more than average. You know what? I'm okay with that, too, because it does give it an incredibly solid feel. You
6:14
can see the whole thing is screwed together with screws, not, you know,
6:18
little cheapo plastic clips, nothing like that. Corsair's really overdone, I
6:22
would say, the construction of this particular mouse, which includes the scroll wheel as well. Great rubber
6:28
dimples making it very, very easy to scroll up and down and control it
6:32
perfectly. And then metal rings on the sides, also very, very strong. It's
6:37
like, what do they expect you to do with this thing? Throw it out the wall? that might happen. So, there you go. Uh,
6:42
we've got right non-slippy or rather non-slippy slippy feet on the bottom of
6:47
the mouse covering all sides. That should pretty much cover any direction
6:51
you might want to move the mouse and make sure that you don't uh accidentally
6:55
grip things too hard. I mean, remember when that was like a big deal? It's like, yeah, the mouse has like teflon
7:00
feet on the bottom. Now, they pretty much all do. So,
7:03
all right. Cable length. Yeah. Okay. Okay, so it's just over a Linus arms
7:08
span, which means it's probably around 7 ft. Um, although I'm not 100% sure about
7:12
that. I don't think it matters that much. It's very long. You won't have trouble with it. You've also got
7:17
goldplated connectors on. Actually, you can see them better through the top.
7:20
Goldplated connectors. So, even though this outside part, actually, this is
7:24
funny because a lot of goldplated USB actually it's goldplated on the outside,
7:29
which doesn't make any contact with any any data connection. So, it's totally
7:33
useless. Um, but no, this is actually goldplated where it counts. The reason
7:37
the gold plating matters is because it's a malleable metal. Helps it to make good
7:40
contact with the inside of the USB port. Let me just make sure I haven't missed
7:44
anything here, guys. All right. Adjustable lift distance. So,
7:48
you can decide how far off the table a lift is registered. Okay. And it'll stop
7:54
it'll stop actually moving the mouse side to side. And Corser has such good
7:59
packaging. It's always got like all the information on it. No problem. 15
8:03
individ Yeah. individually programmable buttons. So, you want to go ahead and
8:07
download the software at Corsair.com/vvengeancem90.
8:12
So, they've got a little preview of it here. Um, which is what I usually tell
8:16
you people to do anyway. It's got a 2-year warranty on this guy. Um,
8:24
can change the polling rate. 1,00 hertz,
8:28
500 Hz, 250 Hz, 125 Hz. Okay. tracking up to 16500 in per second and up to 30
8:34
gs of acceleration. Personally, that doesn't mean nearly as much to me as
8:37
when I use the mouse and I go, "Oh, yeah, that sensor feels good." Some
8:41
mice, they're they're really high DPI, but you just you go to use them, you're
8:44
like, "Oh, this is a crap sensor. It's not it's not imaging the surface below
8:48
it nearly well enough." Okay, last thing. Overall texture of the
8:53
mouse. So, it's got kind of a smooth uh
8:56
soft touch sort of grip on the top here. And then it's got a bit of a smooth like
9:02
hard plastic one here, which is fine. But on the other side, they've gone with
9:05
kind of a rough. See, you can actually see it rubbing away some of my skin
9:10
there. Uh, it's quite rough. And I think that's awesome because what that means
9:14
is that it's smooth and soft to the touch where you're resting on it. And
9:18
then it's got enough grip on the sides and enough of a lip on the other side
9:21
that you can easily lift it up, you know, in so in the heat of battle, so to
9:25
speak. I think that pretty much covers it. We've got an illuminated Corsair
9:29
logo here. And we have nice, you know, high quality braided cable here. Thank
9:34
you for checking out my unboxing of the Vengeance M90 from Corsair. Don't forget
