0:07 Welcome to my unboxing and first look at the MetaDOT Dask Keyboard Professional
0:12 S. So, the Dask Keyboard Professional S. First, let's start with what Metadot has
0:16 to say about the Dask Keyboard. Mechanical key switch key switches for
0:20 maximum speed and comfort. This much is true. It also has full end key rollover,
0:25 thus avoiding key jamming, which is a big problem, especially with very fast
0:30 typists. So, yes, you will be more comfortable. Yes, you will be faster.
0:33 Everyone you put a mechanical keyboard in front of, even if it's not ideal for
0:36 them, will type faster in double-digit percentages more often than not.
0:41 High-speed USB 2.0 hub, extra long cable, and requires some kind of
0:46 computer as far as I can tell. All Microsoft, Mac, and Linux operating
0:51 systems. I mean, I guess if you like
0:55 were running
0:59 Android on your desktop, maybe it won't work, but it probably will. So, moving
1:04 right along. It comes with a little cleaning cloth, which is good because the Dask keyboard has a bit of a glossy
1:08 finish to it. I'm going to go ahead and pull this out of here and pull this out
1:13 of here. It also comes with a little installation guide, which basically
1:16 means plug the thing into the thing. There is no driver required for the DOS
1:21 keyboard. Now, Meta Dot has four
1:25 different variants available. Okay. There is an ultimate S for al sorry,
1:32 there's an ultimate silent and there's an ultimate clickie. And then there's a
1:36 professional silent and a professional clickie. So, we went with the
1:39 professional silent and the ultimate clickie for what's upcoming on the NCIX
1:44 tech tips channel where we're going to do a Thank you. Uh, we're going to do a
1:49 mechanical keyboard roundup because that gives us a good representation of
1:53 everything available from MetaDOT. The ultimate versus professional moniker
1:57 means that it either has
2:01 I'm sorry, I'm just going to pull off a key cap here. It either has printing on
2:04 the top of the keys or they are all completely blank. And then the silent
2:08 versus clicky means that it either is using quieter key switches or ones with
2:14 more of a distinct click. So, we're going to talk a lot about different key
2:18 switches as well in that upcoming episode of NCX Tech Tips. So, you can
2:23 clearly see here that the dusk keyboard silent version uses Cherry MX brown
2:28 switches. And the brown refers not only to the color of the switch, but also to
2:32 the characteristics of it. So, the characteristics of this switch are that
2:35 it has a bit of a smoother travel
2:38 and a much quieter travel compared to the ones that are used in the clicky
2:42 version. Now, that doesn't mean that it's necessarily silent. A mechanical
2:46 keyboard is almost always going to be louder than a membrane keyboard. And
2:51 this is partly just due to the quality of the construction because
2:55 if you come right down on it, you'll bottom it out. And they're generally built out of much more solid materials
3:00 than well your standard cheapo keyboard. And quite frankly, from a typist's
3:05 perspective, as well as from a gamer's perspective, I don't see a good reason
3:09 why you wouldn't use a mechanical keyboard with so many options available
3:13 on the market. On the back of the keyboard, you see we've got little feet
3:16 for inclining it slightly should you see fit. It also has four rubber pads that
3:21 keep it in place so it doesn't go anywhere when you put
3:26 it down, which is good cuz keyboards that run away are bad. Okay, in terms of
3:31 layout, everything is fairly bog standard on this guy. Long shifts, enter
3:35 and backspace, and a completely standard layout for the rest of the keyboard. So,
3:39 what it comes down to is the build quality of it. Nice long cables
3:43 included. So, we're going to just open that up. There. There you go. It's
3:46 approximately 1.15
3:50 Linus arms bands, which makes it about I guess 7 ft. Okay. Also comes with two
3:56 USB ports at the end of it. So, one of these is for the hub, which is oops,
4:00 sorry, here. And the other one is for
4:05 the actual keyboard itself. So, you can see they're clearly labeled keyboard and
4:10 hub, which is very helpful. So, if you put this here, it won't do anything
4:14 useful. Uh, it comes with a PS2 adapter just in case you do want to use your
4:17 keyboard with PS2. And I think that pretty much covers it. So, remember
4:21 guys, you can get the D keyboard in four different varieties. You can get it
4:25 clicky or non-clicky. And you can get it with printing on the keycaps or
4:29 completely blank if you're one of those elitists who doesn't want people to be
4:32 able to sit down and use your computer, which I mean I can't say there's anyone
4:36 in this room like that. But thank you for watching Landers Tech Tips. Don't
4:40 forget to subscribe.
