so today I'll be unboxing a product that while I didn't buy it I actually bought
0:06
one about six months ago for my parents and the reason I bought it is because
0:11
it's kind of a unique product so this is the Logitech cordless media board Pro
0:15
for PlayStation 3 although you are not actually limited to using it with the
0:20
PlayStation 3 they're actually using it for their Media Center PC and I'll
0:24
explain how they're doing that in a minute but why don't we go through what Logitech says about it on the box first
0:29
of all they say is a keyboard second of all they say it is with Bluetooth
0:33
wireless technology so it does use a
0:36
Bluetooth interface there are no cords you just put in a battery and off you go
0:40
cordless media keys and it has a touchpad and scroll bar so you can see
0:44
right here that it actually has a mouse or like a touchpad built into the
0:48
keyboard it's slim okay and then we go
0:52
around to the back and we find that it works up to 30 ft from your PlayStation
0:56
3 it has an integrated touchpad offers an easy way to enter text and type mess
0:59
messages on the Playstation 3 or a computer it is perfect for the
1:04
PlayStation Network it is lightweight perfect for living room use and it has
1:07
quick media Keys give instant access to Media control panel movie menus and more
1:13
so I will be opening the seals with my
1:17
ruler knife which actually belongs to the cameraman not to me at all but I was
1:22
like oh I have no knife but the difference is that I thought of it
1:26
before we started filming today so the cameraman gave me something to use
1:30
okay so inside we will find um a blank
1:34
white area surrounded by black and green
1:38
when we remove that we will find a keyboard okay so it's held in by a
1:43
couple pieces of foam right here so you can see it's actually quite well secured
1:47
even without the top uh half of the Box on it we can just go ahead and pull this
1:52
out and let's see what we've got in terms of manuals and accessories like no
1:56
accessories just a manual so let's open this up
2:02
got a part number sticker on it okay that's helpful okay important
2:06
information let's start with this it's in Portuguese and French and English yes
2:12
English so U duration of implied warranties National statutory rights the
2:18
Logitech address battery warning follow the batteries instructions as well as
2:22
these important safety chips okay so mostly safety so safety is important
2:26
thank you Logitech next we have the installation manual for the media board
2:30
Pro and I have to confess I did end up needing this when I installed this for
2:34
my parents um so you put in the
2:37
batteries that's pretty straightforward you turn the keyboard on by sliding the
2:41
onoff switch that is not the step that I got stuck on I was not stuck on that
2:46
step um then you adjust the keyboard feet for Comfort if required also not
2:51
where I got stuck next you use the media keys and
2:57
then you oh whatever come on where's the step that I got stuck on oh yeah right
3:02
right right right right here okay so how you actually register the keyboard with
3:06
your with your Bluetooth adapter when pairing so you actually need to enter um
3:12
wow they don't actually say maybe they've changed the procedure but I had
3:15
to enter a password in order to get it to syn with the Bluetooth dongle that
3:19
was connected to the computer so that's the part that I found challenging
3:23
because this keyboard was actually the first time I had ever used Bluetooth for
3:28
anything I'm not a phone guy and I tend to stick
3:33
with wired for all of my peripherals so that's that's what I was using Okay so
3:37
the media board Pro it's a very comfortable keyboard actually you can
3:41
easily sit and I'm going to get the cameraman to move for a little bit but
3:45
you can easily sit on the couch and hold it in your lap it's very very
3:48
comfortable in this kind of a position because it's so lightweight and so thin
3:52
so you just kind of hold it where you're sitting wherever you happen to be
3:56
sitting and then here let's have a look here so in terms of media Keys you got a
4:00
menu key back play forward and Blu-ray
4:03
DVD menu uh these all work on PC but I'm not sure what this one does in that
4:08
context logitech's put a very glossy finish on this particular keyboard it
4:12
does make it a bit of a fingerprint magnet but it's not the worst I've seen
4:16
by a long shot keyboard is very as I said comfortable and the layout is very
4:21
very standard uh so you have a fullsize backspace shift enter and other shift
4:26
they haven't done anything particularly stupid but one thing that you might
4:30
notice is that there's no Windows key so
4:33
these are actually right and left click so you can use you have a couple of
4:38
different options you can either use the keyboard like this back out cameraman so
4:43
with your right finger on the touchpad and these are your right and left click
4:46
over here or you can use it like you would use a laptop with your left finger
4:49
on the touchpad or vice versa and you can use the right and left click over
4:53
here power button switch rather is over here so just slide that into the
4:57
position that you require it to be in in and then on the bottom you will find the
5:02
structural bracing and this also allows it to be a little bit lighter because
5:06
they haven't just filled the whole thing in with plastic and then the battery
5:10
slots here are the little adjustable feet that the I assure you this is not
5:14
the part that I got stuck on when I was installing this and then so the thing
5:18
that is missing if you're using this with a computer is a Bluetooth dongle
5:22
because it's designed for the Playstation 3 which has built-in Bluetooth it does not include one so
5:27
that means that you'll need to buy I mean you can get for as cheap as like 5 10 bucks so you just grab any Bluetooth
5:33
dongle a generic one and then you can actually pair it to the keyboard it
5:36
takes probably about 5 minutes so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the
5:40
cordless media board Pro
