0:00 so today i'll be unboxing a pretty cool product this is the strider series 1500
0:06 watt power supply from silverstone and what makes this unique is the fact that
0:11 it is a 80 plus silver certified and b
0:15 it is one of the highest wattage power supplies available on the market
0:20 it is also a 100 modular design and i
0:23 will show you what that means in a moment but why don't i get the cameraman
0:26 to take a quick look at the actual specs for this unit so you can see it is an
0:30 eight rail power supply so that means it has
0:33 eight 12 volt rails each specked up to a
0:36 max of 25 amps each okay so it uses probably yeah 135
0:42 millimeter silent fan and they're saying that the noise level is as low as 19
0:48 decibels so that's incredibly silent and that is again one of the things they've
0:52 called out right on the front this is a low noise power supply now let's get
0:57 this thing open oh hey here we've got a summary of all the connectors on it too
1:00 so you have a 24 pin connector an eps eight pin connector uh which is
1:05 also a for a four plus four and then you have an eps eight pin just native
1:10 connector four floppy connectors that's a lot of those actually
1:13 four six pin pci express four six pin
1:17 six plus two pin pci express then you have 12 molex and 12 SATA so you can
1:23 connect pretty much whatever you could possibly want to this power supply as
1:27 many as wow i guess you could do four graphics cards depending on how
1:32 they've configured the uh the modular cable design which
1:35 we will have a look at in just a moment here if i can get the box open it seems
1:41 to be caught on something ah there we go okay
1:44 let's just caught on that okay power supply this power supply is capable of
1:48 drawing a very high amount of current and electricity be attentive to use only the
1:53 power cord included with the power supply and do not use an extension cable
1:58 or a power strip with this power supply 1500 watts is a lot of juice folks so
2:02 this is the dream psu for computer enthusiasts okay awesome and remember
2:07 too that if you're if you're powering your pc with 1500 watts you're actually
2:11 drawing more than that from the wall because even though it's 80 plus it should be
2:15 around 86 to 87 efficiency you're
2:18 actually drawing that extra few percent from the wall even though you're not
2:23 able to use it so this is power power supply
2:26 interesting okay so this is your manual it's available in a bunch of different
2:30 languages how to install a bunch of basic information on the power supply
2:35 itself including the pin outs for all the different connectors okay that's great let's take this foam out uh okay
2:40 you know let's do the rest of the accessories first so inside here what i
2:44 think we're going to find is a power cord and that is what we're going to
2:48 find but we're also going to find uh like a pouch to hold your extra modular
2:52 cables in okay so that's kind of nice and then here's like a super thick power
2:58 supply cable and it actually uses a non-standard configuration so this is
3:03 designed to be used only with this power supply and i think i've seen a couple
3:07 others before that are like that okay we got a couple adapters here so
3:11 this is uh six plus two PCIe and it
3:14 takes two six pins at the back okay so
3:17 it's an adapter i don't like to see adapters like this on a fully modular
3:21 power supply it seems kind of unnecessary we've got some velcro cable management
3:26 ties as well as some thumb screws as well as some regular zip ties for cable
3:30 management and then here we go this is a long power
3:34 supply wow this thing is absolutely ginormous
3:39 as if that's a word there you go so that is a 135 millimeter
3:45 fan and even so you've got large strips of unused area on either side of this
3:50 unit i mean this thing is huge so there's your general specs again
3:54 on the side as well as your cautioning blah blah blah okay got
3:59 a silverstone stamp on the top you've got a regular honeycomb grille with your
4:03 special power supply cord input on the side and then nothing over here now at
4:09 this side of the power supply we're going to find what is one of the coolest
4:12 features of this unit the 100 modular interface that it has so you can
4:18 plug in up to four per let me see i'm going to
4:22 make sure i'm right here before i say this up to four peripherals so this is
4:27 molex or SATA and then the bottom ones
4:31 are up to six one two three four yeah six pci
4:36 express connectors along the bottom and then you even the 24 pin atx connector
4:42 is modular on this power supply so that's very cool i mean there's no
4:45 reason you wouldn't have that plugged in oh i'm sorry okay no it is for pci
4:49 express and then these two on over here are the two 8-pin eps connectors sorry
4:57 sorry okay so why don't we have a look at which connector silverstone deems
5:02 necessary to include by default with this unit
5:05 here we go okay
5:08 so but yeah pci express we've got
5:12 oh okay so they're using actual actually like two pci express connectors per plug
5:18 at the back so by default it comes with
5:22 two six plus twos three four six plus
5:25 two connectors and then four additional six pin connectors so
5:30 eight pci express connectors just right out right out of the gate and then it
5:34 also includes those adapters to turn your other six pins into an additional
5:39 two six plus two pin so that's six
5:42 six plus two pin connectors that's ridiculous wow okay so there's your eps
5:48 and your atx four pin four plus four and then they've also included
5:54 yeah two molex and two SATA attached by default and then you've got the
5:59 additional ones here so you can switch to whichever cable configuration you
6:03 would like because it's a modular power supply thank you for checking out my unboxing and product overview of the
