0:00 Welcome to Linus Tech Tips at CES 2013. Our trip to the show this year is
0:04 powered by Corsair, maker of quality PC components and peripherals. Our trusted
0:09 storage partner is Seagate Technology and our trusted networking partner is
0:13 Blinkis.
0:17 In the ASUS booth, they have booth suite, whatever you want to call it,
0:21 they have the Cube. This is a Google TV
0:24 ready device that has a lot of very, very cool stuff. So, I'm going to show
0:28 you the cube first. This is an ARM processor. It's got 4 gigs of onboard
0:32 storage. It's got a USB drive. It's got 1 gig of RAM. It's got Ethernet. It's
0:36 got HDMI in and HDMI out. And that's cool. We're going to show you why
0:40 actually. Well, it's kind of behind me already anyway, but no big deal. Uh IR
0:43 out so you can synchronize it with uh with an IR blaster and make sure that it
0:48 sort of acts as a hub for passing signals through to whatever else you
0:51 need. Power in and it basically looks like well a cube. So that's
0:55 appropriately named. More important than that is the remote. So, it's fully
1:00 Netflix ready. Okay. It's got a touchpad
1:04 and buttons so you can decide how exactly you want to use that there
1:08 device. So, the home button takes Oh, yeah. It's got a full keyboard on the
1:11 back. Did I mention that already? I'm pretty sure that I did not. It's got all
1:15 of your main buttons that you're going to need. Your back, your uh your microphone. There's another microphone
1:19 button here that is for controlling the device with Google Voice. Volume up,
1:23 down, channel scroll. And now let's take
1:26 it over to the working model that hopefully I haven't ruined. So it's
1:31 running Android Honeycomb and they have done a custom UI here that is very
1:35 visual. So here should I move over sort of this way. So I want you guys to look
1:39 at this. Basically you navigate it with the remote. So you can see all of your
1:44 uh frequently used
1:47 if I'm not doing I might be doing this wrong somehow.
1:51 We'll be back in a moment. I figured it out. I'm in touchpad mode.
1:55 See, I changed it to touchpad mode when I was tinkering with it. So, let's go
1:59 ahead and switch that out of touchpad mode. So, now we can click the buttons.
2:02 We can navigate. We go Netflix prime time. So, prime time is Google's way of
2:06 aggregating all of your content, whether it's web content or whether it's uh the
2:11 actual your your TV service providers content. You can browse all that stuff.
2:15 IMDb is on there. We're going to flip it around here. So, you got your movies,
2:18 your games. This also is motion sensitive, so you can play motion
2:21 control games. I actually clicked the microphone button, so I'm using Google
2:26 Voice right now. We'll see what it comes up with here,
2:30 guys. I was talking for a while there, but it'll do its best. Go Google. You
2:35 know, you know, we love you. Click the microphone. So, I'm using Google Voice
2:38 right now. See, look at that. It's like bang on. So, now I just have to go back
2:43 so that we're not looking at that anymore. There we go. So, games, social,
2:47 and life. So, you've got a full web browser. Chrome is on here. You can set
2:51 things up exactly the way you want. So, TV. There we go. If I go to Here we go.
2:56 There's the app store. I guess it's called Google Play now, not App Store.
2:59 That's totally the wrong thing to call it at all. And now, oh, I see. So, I was
3:03 in the education hub. So, ah, it's contextual. Very cool. On the side, it's
3:08 totally different stuff depending on There you go. what you're looking at.
3:12 So, let's have a look at the uh at the prime time UI.
3:17 Okay. And last but not least, I want to show
3:21 you guys the live TV button. So, this not only allows you to just switch to
3:25 and watch your live TV, but also you click it. So, you go to your live TV.
3:31 Now, you go to the home screen and it'll actually still play in the background
3:35 while you're doing whatever it is you want to do. So, very cool stuff. And
3:38 don't forget to subscribe so you can check out all of the CES 2013 coverage
