So, down in LA, we checked out NVIDIA's new full desktop grade 980 in a laptop.
0:05
It's pretty insane. And if you haven't seen our quick on the spot coverage of
0:08
it, click up here because it's pretty great.

0:31
greatl looking laptops. And when you pair NVIDIA's design philosophy for this
0:35
product of more cooling and not only an unlocked GPU, but an unlocked CPU as
0:41
well with the hopes of the user overclocking both of them, that leads to
0:45
some really tasty sounding laptops. I'll start with the Clevo. Some of you may be
0:49
wondering what Clevo is exactly. Well, if you haven't heard of them, that
0:53
doesn't mean you haven't used their laptops. Clevo is an ODM or an original
0:58
design manufacturer, meaning that you will find their designs under many other
1:02
brands who will make either minor tweaks or even just rebadge them and sell them
1:06
as their own. Their main offering here is the P870DM.
1:10
This laptop comes equipped with a GTX 980, as you'd probably expect, and a
1:14
desktop grade 6700 K along with 16 GB of
1:18
RAM and a 1080p G-Sync display all running Windows 10. So basically a
1:23
desktop in your backpack. On the lefth hand side, you have a gigabit Ethernet
1:27
jack, two USB 3.0 ports, a USBC
1:30
Thunderbolt port, an SD MMC slot, and a
1:33
USB 3/A combo port. On the back, there
1:37
are two full-size display ports, a power jack, and an HDMI port. On the right
1:41
hand side, you have a slot for a lock, four 3.5 mm audio jacks, and one USB 3.0
1:46
connector. And lastly, on top, you have a very nicely backlit keyboard and a
1:50
fingerprint reader for stuff like logging in and encryption. Next up, we
1:54
have the Orus X7, which is considerably thinner than the previously mentioned
1:57
Clevo for easier transportation experiences. Comes with the same GTX 980
2:02
graphics card, but with a Core i7 5700HQ
2:06
this time around. Also with 16 GB of RAM, a 1080p screen, and G-Sync
2:11
technology built in. All running, oddly enough, Windows 8.1, although you should
2:16
be able to pretty easily upgrade. On the lefth hand side of this guy, you've got
2:20
two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one mini DisplayPort, and an SD card
2:25
reader. On the back, there's also a USB 2.0 connector, and a power connector
2:30
with the right hand side having two 3.0 ports, one HDMI connector, one mini
2:35
DisplayPort, and an SD card reader. And last, but not least, we have the MSI
2:39
GT72. This gu is closer in thickness to the Clevo than the Orus. It's still
2:44
rocking the GTX 980, which is like kind of the whole point, so not too
2:48
surprising. a Core i7 6820HK,
2:52
16 GB of RAM, and a 1080p G-Sync panel,
2:56
all running Windows 10. On the left hand side of this one, there's four USB 3.0
3:00
ports, four 3.5 mm audio jacks, and an SD card slot. It also has a party in the
3:06
back with power, Ethernet, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, USB type-C, Thunderbolt,
3:11
and a security connector all kind of hiding back there behind the screen. On
3:15
the right, it has an optical drive, which is actually pretty surprising
3:18
these days, and two more USB 3.0 connectors. The top also features a
3:23
backlit keyboard and a bunch of settings buttons along with the power button over
3:26
kind of on the left hand side. Considering the sheer amount of raw
3:30
power in these laptops, I'm pretty excited to see what kind of splash they
3:33
make on the market. I ended up playing E Valkyrie on the Clevo, and honestly, the
3:38
experience was smoother than a number of demonstration PCs that I've tried it on.
3:42
That may speak more to the lack of performance in the demonstration PC than
3:46
anything, but still these laptops are packing some power. Just before the end
3:51
here, I'm going to throw up some performance graphs, but if you actually do want to see the proper performance of
3:55
these laptops, I recommend again checking out the previous video over
3:59
here where we actually check out the technology behind the GTX 980, not M
