Welcome to what is to be something of a mass unboxing of several products from
0:12
Arctic Cooling. Well, Arctic Hobby Arctic Hobby. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. So,
0:15
we have Okay, we've got a few things. Let's get the quick ones out of the way
0:19
really quick here. So, we have a charger for batteries. Okay. We also have the
0:25
controller that we have. We have three of these controllers, but I only felt it
0:28
necessary to grab one of them for the sake of this unboxing. So, the controller allows you to control any one
0:33
of these particular
0:37
land riders. Okay, so we've had a look at a few Arctic Hobby products so far.
0:41
We had a look at their tank, their fire engine, as well as their boat, and I'm
0:46
sure there's one more, right? There was an excavator. So,
0:51
so far the overall prevailing opinion from us and our viewers is that these
0:56
are actually a surprisingly good value and kind of neat for the price. So,
1:00
we've got a few more things to check out. So, here's the remote. We haven't
1:04
actually looked at this remote up close yet. So, fairly straightforward. You've
1:08
got your uh cardboard that is apparently too
1:13
complicated for me. Ah, staples.
1:18
That's what was going on. Okay, let's flip it over and we'll use the knife to
1:22
cut the incredibly thick zip tie that
1:26
was deemed necessary by somebody to put on there.
1:31
Take another crack at it. There we go. All right.
1:36
Now, the controller comes out. So, these controllers, there's your throttle,
1:40
there's your other stuff. It has multiple channels that are supported up
1:43
to two channels, so you can race. Oh, that's kind of nice, actually. It's got like a foamy outside on the sort of
1:49
chromy rim looking thingamabber going on here.
1:54
There's your power. It's powered by
1:58
100 billion AA batteries. Okay.
2:03
Actually, not 100 billion, eight. But those numbers are very similar.
2:08
Okay.
2:13
And the functionality changes depending on what you're using. Ah, this is
2:16
interesting. So, this is the crystal module. So, you'll use that to make sure
2:20
that you're on the same frequency as whatever particular card that you are
2:24
using. So, you can pop that whole thing out, should you so desire. Although, I
2:28
really don't see the point, but I'm going to do it anyway. Just because it's
2:31
pointless doesn't mean I'm not going to do it on this show. There you go. So, it
2:36
works like that. Uh-oh. You better make sure you put that back in carefully cuz
2:39
all of those seem to have to go back into the There we go. Okay, so that's
2:43
the controller that comes with any one of these given RC vehicles. Now, let's
2:48
have a look at the vehicles themselves. So, we have the Land Rider 305 onroad
2:52
racing car. We have the Land Rider 307 off-road truck. And we have the Land
2:57
Rider 309 off-road trucky. And I think what they mean is truck/buggy. So, let's
3:02
get these all opened up. I'm not actually going to do the unboxing for them so we can show you the features of
3:06
them because it's going to take way too long to do three unboxings in a row.
3:10
So, we've got them opened up now. It was a bit of a headache to get all the
3:14
antennas in and all that kind of stuff, but we're pretty much done. So, we've
3:18
got the Land Rider 305, 307, and 309.
3:23
So, this is the car, the truck, and the Trugy or, you know, truck buggy,
3:28
whatever you want to call it. We also have the TO1 digital transmitter. Now,
3:31
this can be used to control a number of different models, and you can save different profiles in it. It's actually
3:36
got a fairly complicated menu structure, but the documentation that comes with
3:41
it, sorry,
3:44
spells everything out like this in little uh diagram trees so
3:49
you can follow along for whatever it is that you need to do. You can adjust all
3:53
kinds of neat stuff like exponential steering and uh reversing your channels
3:56
and anything like that that you would want to do. Uh you use the crystal. So,
4:01
we've installed the number two band crystal in the back. This is an AM
4:04
transmitter. So, uh, this is the same crystal that came with all of these
4:08
different trucks, but if you wanted to race them, you need to make sure that you have two separate crystals for the
4:13
two vehicles that you want to race at the same time as, you know, your friend
4:17
or whoever else. Okay, so let's talk a little bit about the various differences
4:20
between these models. So, this guy has very, very low clearance to the ground,
4:25
especially once once the weight is on it, these wheels compress a little bit.
4:28
So, this is an on-road sort of race car
4:32
type thing. shockwise.
4:35
Uh oh, yeah, you Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, Slick wants me to mention that. See
4:39
how these posts have lots of different holes? You can actually use those to
4:43
raise it up a little bit if you want. So, I'll show you guys how easy that is
4:46
to do. Removing the top plastic covers is also the way that you access
4:52
the internals of the vehicle itself. So, there's the heat sink on the motor.
4:55
There's your crystal. So, you can actually change out the crystals not only in the car and the but also in the
4:59
transmitter or not only in the transmitter, but also in the car. There's your on switch.
5:05
There's your front shocks. Fairly meager on this model, but you guys will see on
5:09
the other ones. That's not to say that all of them are like that. Pretty good
5:12
on the back. Uh there is your battery
5:15
here. Your battery pack includes six cells. So, in order to charge it, all
5:20
you do is unplug it from here, run it out from under the plastic cover or not
5:24
under the plastic cover, whatever else, and you charge the battery up without
5:27
actually removing it from the car at all.
5:31
You can see here's the receiver. So, we've only got a couple of different uh
5:35
channels that we're using on that. So, basically throttle and then uh this guy
5:40
right here. Seems actually fairly well built and just like the uh just like
5:44
some of the other ones we've looked at. Like you can see it's got like real tires on it and all that kind of stuff.
5:51
Pretty neat. Okay, so let's go ahead and put that one aside for now. So, that's
5:56
the on-road racing car. Next, we have the off-road
6:01
truck. And this one is actually my personal favorite based on our limited
6:05
experience with these vehicles so far because check this out. This one just
6:09
looks absolutely built inside.
6:14
Looks like the same actual motor, okay?
6:17
Same uh receiver, same number of channels being used. All of this stuff
6:22
looks pretty darn similar. There's your on switch. Okay. But look at how built
6:27
the shocks are on this guy.
6:30
So, you got a lot of give there. Actually, tires are like beast. Lots of
6:36
traction, all that good stuff. You got your front grill, you got your back
6:40
grill. Rear tires are just as built. And what I like about the shocks on this guy
6:44
is, check this out. They've got a lot of uh here. There's a bit of a delay before
6:50
they come up. So, they're very, very cushiony.
6:54
even if it's bouncing around out there, you're going to retain whatever traction
6:59
you happen to need. So, that's I think that's pretty cool. So, there's that
7:03
one. And then finally, we've got the Truggy. And this one is once again more
7:07
built than the on-road car because it's meant for more like uh an off-road type
7:12
scenario. Once again, fairly similar internals,
7:17
but only one set of shocks and using a
7:20
significantly wider spacing of springs. So, they're more bouncy and less
7:24
cushiony. So, depending on the scenario you have, this one is probably going to
7:28
protect you from a fall a little bit better, but not necessarily as good for
7:32
keeping all the tires on the road at any given time because there's a little bit
7:35
more bounce to it, a little bit less stability going on there. So, they all
7:39
use the same cells inside right here. So, the parts are very interchangeable.
7:43
You can see once you look at the internal guts, they are very, very
7:47
similar in terms of the platforms that they're built on, much like a Toyota
7:51
versus a Lexus. But, um, it's just in
7:54
the detailing where the differences really come out. So, thank you for
7:59
checking out my unboxing and first look at the Land Rider car series from Arctic
8:04
Hobby. Don't forget to subscribe to Lance Tech for more unboxings, reviews, and other computer videos.
8:09
So, it's breakfast time and trying out the Land Riders time. This is the 309
8:14
right here. So, uh the one that we're actually going to be testing in the
8:18
video here is the 307. They're all built on the same platform. It's just varying
8:22
shocks anyway, right guys? So, uh there's the 30.
8:28
Shoot, which one is that? No, sorry, that's the 309 out there. So, I've got
8:32
it in my backyard. I am actually super impressed with the performance of this
8:36
thing. So, for one thing, the throttle is uh is not just on off. It's uh
8:44
whatever the word is for that. You can adjust all the trims on the controller.
8:48
The whole setup process takes only a couple minutes. Uh your wheels are uh
8:53
not just straight on off, too. So, you have a lot of granularity in terms of
8:56
your steering control. You can turn a little bit, you can turn a lot. Okay, so
9:01
here we go. Check this out.
9:04
And this is not just the burst of energy it gets um when you first power it on.
9:10
This has been going for about 5 minutes already and it's still got a fair amount
9:14
of gustoa. You can see that my lawn is very uneven. Um
9:19
but in spite of that, it still performs admirably
9:23
just climbing over everything here. I'm going to head out into the other part of
9:27
the yard as well. So you I can go like over the rocks in the middle. Can you
9:32
see? Here we go.
9:41
Can get a fair bit of speed going. It can obviously go faster if you bring it
9:44
out onto the concrete. You can see it speeds up quite a bit on the concrete,
9:48
but yeah, the uh the off-road I mean off-road RC vehicles when I was a kid
9:53
certainly did not handle uh off-road Did you lose it? Certainly did not handle
9:59
off-road scenarios very well. But it looks like that has changed. So, thank
10:04
you for checking out this video of the uh performance and the unboxing. I guess
10:09
I'll just amend this to the end of the unboxing. Don't forget to subscribe.
