Linus tech tips coverage of computex 2013 is powered by western digital our
0:04
trusted gaming gear partner is Corsair vengeance and our trusted retail partner
0:08
is ncix.com hey guys we're here at the ecs booth to
0:12
check out their new machine and domination line of memory of
0:16
motherboards sorry about that these are dead 87 chipset boards and holy cow if
0:21
you look at the domination ones that is blinging their CPU socket is plated with
0:26
gold and it just looks pretty awesome if you're one of those lucky few people
0:29
that got the limited edition swiftech block that would go so well with that i
0:33
can't even begin to explain how well that would go with that the red color
0:37
scheme is actually the same so these two are z87 h3-ax models they both have an
0:43
external and internal uh Thunderbolt port which is just pretty epic i'm not
0:47
entirely sure what you can use that internal one for but you have that
0:50
option they both have six out of 3.0 ports v-checkpoints tons of fan
0:55
connectors they both support quad sli with 16x um pci express slots they're
1:01
just beast beast motherboards all the on onboard buttons you could possibly want
1:06
gold plated caps it looks like gold plated caps
1:10
they also have creative sound core 3d
1:13
which will help apparently help isolate sound and through in FPS games and other
1:17
stuff as well they've got where was the other thing dual killer gigabit lan
1:22
ports apparently they interviewed some gamers and decided that gamers don't
1:26
like it when they lag which is um i guess anyone could have told them that
1:30
but they interviewed some gamers they support team complexity so they probably
1:33
interviewed them and they decided that it might be a good idea to throw killer networking on their boards when we moved
1:38
down to their z87 h3 a2 x boards which
1:42
are slightly chopped down versions of the previous boards we were just looking at um you lose the dual Thunderbolt you
1:46
lose stuff like that but they're still very very nice high-end boards you still got six set of 3.0 ports you still have
1:52
v-check points you still have all that kind of stuff you still have dual
1:55
gigabit killer lan but it's a little bit chopped down like i just said not quite
2:00
all the options you had before still tons of onboard buttons they're still
2:04
very high in boards they still have the same color scheme so if you don't need
2:08
an internal Thunderbolt header and a few other things that are on the insane high
2:11
end boards you can still get these ones still get the color scheme still get an
2:14
awesome board and still be happy we're going to move on in the ucs booth if you
2:18
want to see all of our computex content be sure to keep watching and we're gonna
2:22
move on alright guys we're still here at the ecs booth they have something very
2:25
very cool going on that i haven't seen anywhere else here at computex they have
2:28
a build log competition if you guys know i run the forum and i love the build log
2:32
section that's why we have a build logs a awards every single week on our live
2:36
stream these things are insane they have a huge
2:39
competition they're giving away a million new new taiwanese dollars to
2:44
whoever wins this competition so we're going to do a really really quick
2:48
one-through of the top five that they have brought here so what you're
2:51
supposed to do is go to www.facebook.com ecs and vote on which one you think is
2:56
the best i'm i haven't had enough time to actually
2:59
see everything here so i'm just going over some really general stuff this thing looks absolutely nuts you can see
3:04
right angle graphics card with an extension which is nuts it's water
3:07
cooled you got dominators on there this thing's insane he's got some custom
3:10
cabling going on he's got custom lights going on he built the whole freaking
3:14
thing this top can drop down to actually actually in my opinion look better but
3:18
right now he's trying to show off all the hardware considering he's at ecs he wants to show off ecx's hardware it
3:24
looks absolutely amazing down here you've got some triggers you've got some
3:28
vandal switches a lcd panel this thing's
3:31
crazy just everything's going on and it's just an absolute beast it's
3:35
apparently called the orthus so if we can back up here and check out the next
3:39
one this one is very very different compared to the last one we're looking at this one's very very minimalistic it
3:44
looks very very classy he sleeved his cables to go along with the board i hope
3:49
it's it's wooden and this is uh plexiglas it seems and just very very
3:54
nice not the insane performance that we saw on the one previously but it's just
3:58
very very clean cut it would be very very nice to have this on your desk i'm
4:01
not going to pull this just in case i can break something but i'm assuming that turns off these two lights which is
4:06
just so classy this would be very very very cool to have in your office if you
4:10
are a businessman and it seems to be tuned for that style as a very small
4:14
motherboard and not the biggest graphics card ever very nice build then we come
4:18
down here and we get to your industrial design very very heavy metal sharp sharp
4:22
sharp looks very very nice huge radiators there massive massive
4:26
reservoir very cool we come around this side and you see the water cooled
4:30
graphics cards which are just absolutely awesome very very nice sleeving looks
4:33
very very tight not sure where he got that from but it could be a million dollar pc because of how nice it looks
4:37
it looks like it was all done by him very very nice heat shrink cuts the
4:40
whole thing just looks absolutely amazing like i said industrial design
4:44
we've got a nice lcd panel up here where he can control different fan speeds and
4:49
pump speeds and lighting which is just very very very cool
4:52
come down to another one this is actually two but it's submitted by one person
4:56
again industrial design aggressive looks like a tank not like the classy one that
5:00
we saw previously but still looks like a tank you can see he's got some custom
5:03
painting going on looks very military this one looks just nuts there's lights
5:07
going off everywhere it looks very gundam i'm not exactly sure how he did this but that's
5:11
very cool it's from a vexer so it's probably something awesome
5:15
again i haven't actually interviewed these individual people so i'm not entirely sure what's going on
5:18
unfortunately this one's not on but it's very very very cool now we're coming to
5:22
our last one if i can back up here but there's people in my way hopefully i can
5:26
get back okay this one again comes more with the
5:30
classy style that we saw earlier very very clean it looks really really good
5:34
there's tons of painting going on i'm not entirely sure what this is made out of
5:37
feels like metal isn't metal aluminum it's made out of aluminium
5:42
aluminium there we go very very nice did you cut this all yourself
5:46
that's fantastic it looks really really good i like the minimalistic styles for
5:50
build logs so the big aggressive ones while they're very very cool not
5:53
necessarily my style i like the more subtle ones like the one previously and
5:57
this one like i said previously you guys can go on facebook.com ecs vote which
6:02
one you think is the best they will get a ton of money so make sure you go and support which case which modern case you
6:07
think is the best thanks for watching and we're gonna continue all right guys
6:10
just before we left the ecs booth i came by their Thunderbolt demonstration so
6:14
what they've done here is they put five Thunderbolt drives in here and hooked up
6:18
a Thunderbolt monitor all these are linking together you see all the crazy cables hopefully if you're
6:23
going to do something like this you can get shorter cables because that's just nuts and the cable management enthusiast
6:29
in me just cries when he sees this although the loops are quite nice i
6:32
would like shorter cables and tied down anyways it goes out the back here
6:36
plugged into this machine and then this machine is reporting and showing how
6:40
fast the transfer speeds are going now i asked them which drive they're
6:44
actually reporting this from and they did not tell me but it's i o
6:48
meter so i'm assuming it's an overall that i'm not sure if they're transferring data or doing anything
6:52
interesting like that but this just goes to show what you can actually do with
6:55
Thunderbolt it's one plugin and you're plugging all this stuff in so say you're
7:00
a business user you have a business class notebook or business cast system that you're moving around you can just
7:04
come home plunk down your laptop instantly have all this insane amount of
7:09
storage and a monitor plugged in with no real problems also with some people like
7:14
silverstone hooking up new external graphics card boxes where you can have a
7:17
graphics card in a box and have a plug-in with Thunderbolt that's another thing you can do with this and have them
7:21
all linked together you can have all your storage your monitor and an external graphics card all linked in
7:26
through one plug which is very very clean and i'm very happy that they have
7:29
this on display thank you for checking out our ecs content if you want to see
