0:00 we have got two huge announcements for you guys today number one april 14th i
0:06 am going to be here at the new memory express location at 1900 west broadway
0:11 in vancouver for a meetup i'm going to be giving away swag i'm gonna be giving
0:16 away tech advice if you're into that sort of thing and just generally hanging
0:19 out number two right there's a new memory express here
0:24 at 1900 west broadway they're a relatively new face in bc but they've
0:29 actually been in business in canada for over 20 years with stores in calgary
0:35 edmonton and winnipeg let's go have a look inside
0:48 it's actually kind of bizarre for me walking into this place because back
0:52 when i was a product manager they were one of my key rivals in fact i remember
0:56 one boxing day staying very very late
1:00 into the office waiting around for them to post a new deal dropping our price by
1:05 two dollars only to have them five minutes later drop theirs by another two
1:10 dollars and going back and forth and back and forth i mean now they've got
1:15 their uber price beat policy which takes any authorized canadian price online or
1:20 in store and beats it by 10 so that takes some of the fun out of it but
1:24 i guess it's good for customers right now this is one of their smaller stores
1:28 they've actually got a gigantic one in richmond bc but they've still managed to
1:32 pack a pretty impressive amount of computers
1:36 technology and system components so let's have a look at what they got
1:40 closest to the entrance they've got the key essentials
1:44 Ethernet cables
1:48 and RGB fans sorry before anyone gets triggered
1:51 over here we've got gaming chairs power supplies
1:55 coolers and then tons of peripherals so gaming
1:59 peripherals brands like razer and Corsair and then less gaming peripherals
2:05 so this is mostly dominated by logitech and microsoft we've got your phones
2:10 tablets small compact laptops i
2:14 i think it must be some kind of a law that you're not allowed to open a
2:18 computer store unless you have like adorable kittens on mousepad somewhere
2:24 anyway got your cleaning supplies got your external drives external drive
2:29 enclosures if you prefer to provide your own drive got your gaming laptops so
2:34 everything from sort of compact mid-tier performance stuff all the way up to like
2:39 gtx 1070 based devices you've got gaming
2:42 pcs from vendors like ASUS lenovo and MSI and then on the other side you've
2:48 got gaming monitors from lg benq MSI
2:52 also ASUS and so what you can do is you can have the gaming experience of the pc
2:56 on the gaming monitor and kind of demo both of them on one island
3:00 this is a weird one they have gift cards in here
3:04 for everything from stuff that makes a ton of sense like memory express league
3:09 of legends team xbox google play
3:12 two things that make absolutely no sense
3:16 like burger king usually my significant other can tell
3:21 when i forgot and i just grabbed something from the computer store but
3:25 this way nobody ever has to know tons of gaming headsets right on the other side
3:29 of the gaming mice and then this is
3:33 monitor demo land where you can watch someone who's got way cooler ARM tattoos
3:39 than i will ever have build a computer also they've got some other demos that
3:42 they run on here throughout the day networking land has everything from
3:46 simple usb to Ethernet adapters to those like massive routers that look like
3:51 scary upside down crabs attack its weak point
3:55 and never one to abide by these sorts of
3:58 restrictions from your mortals criminal scope i'm gonna bring you guys around to
4:02 the back as well so this is where you'll find memory cards uh more external
4:07 drives this is where actually the bulk of the external drive stock is and then
4:11 the good stuff oh so
4:15 many cpus and then even more important than that motherboards they've got all
4:20 the major brands so you got your Gigabyte you got your MSI you got your
4:23 where's ASUS they've got their whole loan section
4:27 here and this is cool if you buy CPU RAM and motherboard they will actually for
4:32 free mount the CPU and the RAM check and make sure everything's working and even
4:36 install the latest BIOS so that you don't have to deal with the hassle
4:39 pretty cool moving over here we've got the even more exciting stuff they've got graphics
4:44 cards what 560s 570s 580s gtx 1050 tis
4:49 1060s 1070s 1070 ti 1080s 1080
4:54 ti do you guys have look at them all look at all of these things do you guys
4:59 have any idea how much these things are worth you got them just sitting here
5:03 like any random jackass could just you know
5:07 get come out of here and like
5:10 come around to the back this is where you'll find anything that's being held
5:13 for a customer or anything that doesn't look as sexy on the shelf so you've got
5:18 all kinds of ssds two and a half inch NVMe wd samsung kingston you pretty much
5:24 name it RAM is also back here all the major brands so you got your kingston
5:29 you got your g skill you got your Corsair desktop laptop pretty much all
5:34 back here they've also got hard drives back here lots of different selection
5:38 there and even more graphics cards
5:43 look at this that's where the shortage is coming from
5:47 memory express was hoarding them all for their grand opening over on this side
5:51 we've got all the kind of less sexy looking stuff so you got your
5:56 battery backups that you know still have packaging like it's straight
6:00 out of the 90s although they are important you got your backpacks you got
6:05 your you know bathrooms a small office this is printer corner full of printer
6:09 toner that kind of thing they've got some monitor overflow they've got some
6:13 cases they've got wow look at this
6:19 spindles of dvds
6:22 people still buy those closing out the tour customer service
6:26 land is a big part of the customer for life philosophy so they do
6:30 15 day returns and exchanges with no restocking fee on approved items with
6:35 all the original packaging and accessories and then around this corner
6:39 they've got their on-site technicians who handle rmas system build system
6:44 repairs and they even do it business solutions so come check it out it's
6:48 going to be on april 14th they're actually open already and there's free
6:53 parking in the back the vancouverites be like what free parking wow that's the most
6:58 exciting thing about it but it's actually not on the 14th i'll be here
