Linus Tech Tips coverage of Computex 2013 is powered by Western Digital. Our
0:04
trusted gaming gear partner is Corsair Vengeance and our trusted retail partner
0:08
is NCIX.com. Hey guys, we're here at the Aver Media booth. I really like Aver
0:13
Media stuff because we actually use it for our live stream. We use the internal
0:16
one for when we're doing our general live stream. And we actually use this
0:19
portable one, the live gamer portable, when we're doing our gaming stream. Uh
0:22
my brother's a caster. He's called Cold SC. He wants an A media card. But I'm
0:26
going to hopefully get him one soon so that he can more easily stream things.
0:29
There's not as much stress on his computer. One new thing that they were
0:32
talking to me about is you could already record in 1080p to your computer writing
0:36
on your hard drive. But now on this side
0:39
you can go and put an SD card in and then you can record in 1080p to your SD
0:44
card with a firmware update. This wasn't initially available. you could only
0:48
record to the SD card in 720p, but now you can record in 1080p, which is
0:52
awesome because if you don't have a PC near you, say you're streaming on a
0:55
console or something that like that, you can record directly to an SD card. And
0:58
those can come in very, very big capacity. So, that's great. Another thing that they're talking to me about
1:02
is you can record from PC or Xbox very easily with an HDMI cable with coming in
1:07
the in, not the out as they have it currently. But PS3, they have some
1:11
content protection stuff that doesn't allow you to do that. But they found another way by going through component
1:16
with this AVN cable that they have. You can now record through PS3, which is
1:20
very, very cool because that was previously locked off. Like I was
1:23
talking like I was talking about earlier, if I'm just going to turn this right here. If you wanted to record in
1:29
PC free mode, which is the mode where you're recording to an SD card, you just
1:32
move the switch over there. If you wanted to record in PC mode, where you're recording to a PC's hard drive or
1:36
SSD, you just switch it right like that. Very, very, very nice. The button on the
1:40
top, as you can see here, which is in red or not glowing because it's not
1:44
plugged in. Here, is how you start recording or start streaming. You can
1:47
use this to either live stream or record a media locally. With everything on
1:51
YouTube, with let's plays and game reviews and all that kind of stuff, tons of people are getting into streaming.
1:56
With Twitch TV, which is part of our partnership, you can stream with one of
1:59
these things without putting extra load on your computer very, very easily.
