0:05 Want a portable power bank, wireless AP SD card, and USB reader for your mobile
0:09 devices? Check the link in the video description to learn more about the ADA
0:13 Dash Drive Air AE400. Now, the irony of a product that is designed to uh prevent
0:19 theft of your devices is that it comes in the most like theft proof packaging I
0:25 think I've ever seen. You can't even open the thing. And now I've gone and ripped up the user manual. It's okay
0:29 though cuz we have another one. This is the Anova Pro Tag. So, the idea of this
0:34 is that it's a card-sized device. So, you can see it's quite slim, designed to
0:38 fit in your wallet or your purse or your passport holder or whatever else that
0:41 helps protect your belongings and makes it harder for you to lose your
0:45 smartphone, which I personally think is a good thing. All right. It uses
0:48 Bluetooth. It's compatible with Android and Blackberry smartphones. It can sync
0:52 to your mobile slot and Okay, why don't we just do what it actually does? Okay.
0:55 So, the phone alarm rings when you exceed the predetermined distance from your belongings, which is preset to 10
1:00 m, but can be adjusted. And it allows you to secure your mobile phone to you
1:03 can track down your stolen phone via SMS. If the SIM card is replaced, new
1:06 number details will be sent to you. That's very cool as well. So, it has 150
1:11 hour long battery life and is chargeable via a built-in USB cable. So, let's go
1:15 ahead and have a look at the actual device itself. So, there's three
1:19 different uh buttons or things on here. One looks like an LED indicator. The
1:23 next thing says power/discovery. And the last one says
1:27 distance. So it looks like that's how you configure the distance. Over here
1:31 appears to be the built-in USB connector. So you can slide that out
1:35 with a simple little thumb slider right here. Slide that in and out. And you can
1:40 charge it for that 150 hour battery. So let's go ahead and fire this up. There's
1:44 an app that you install on your phone, obviously. So let's see if we hold that
1:49 down. Look at that. Comes with a little bit. Oh, no. It's flashing blue and red.
1:53 So, we're going to figure out how to use this, and then we're going to do a quick uh test here. So, there's basically
1:57 three main menu things here. So, number one is the settings. So, you can set it
2:02 up to send an SMS to your saved number when the SIM change is detected. And
2:05 then you can also do mobile tracking with SMSing Protag base password to your
2:10 phone's to your mobile number to track your phone's location. So, there's a default password which you can change.
2:14 You can also change your alarm settings, whether you want it to ring on silent,
2:18 and uh what volume you want it to use when the phone itself is on silent. Next
2:23 up, you've got adding Protag devices. So, all you need to do to do this is
2:27 hold power/discovery until it flashes blue and red. So, hopefully that'll
2:32 happen pretty quickly here. There we go. So, blue and red flashing. Then you
2:38 click add device and it works like pretty much any other Bluetooth thing
2:41 where it takes a second and then fires up.
2:49 So, that takes about 10 seconds. And once that's done, it gives you a little popup showing you how it pretty much
2:53 works. So, you can snooze the alarm if you go too far away from the device. So,
2:58 you can set an amount of time. Don't bother me about this for a little bit. You can stop monitoring until you start
3:02 it again manually, or you can immediately continue to monitor it, say
3:06 if you move closer to it, and you're ready to go. Okay, so we've got Protags
3:10 one and two. So, I'm going to go ahead and call this one. I'm going to change
3:14 the little setting here.
3:18 Wallet. Okay. It helps if you spell wallet right. There you go. So, I'm
3:22 going to take this one and put it in my wallet. So, just for comparison, this is
3:25 3 mm, which isn't quite the thickness of a card, but it's the same shape as a
3:29 card, which makes it sort of something that at least can fit in a wallet. My
3:33 wallet's not that big, but it fits in there just fine. So, the Let's go
3:38 through the rest of the settings for our wallet device. So, there's a last disconnected date and time, last known
3:42 location, which you can check, as well as a proximity alert. So, the device is
3:46 already within range, and connected. Uh,
3:50 delete this device. And that is pretty much it. So, let's go ahead and let's go
3:54 ahead and see how it works. So, I'm going to try and leave my wallet on the unboxing table, and I'll take this one
3:59 with me because I don't want anything bad to happen. So, it's time for a
4:03 practical test. Now, while this isn't the sort of thing I'd see myself using
4:06 every day, it's the kind of thing that maybe while I'm traveling would be
4:10 incredibly useful. So, you throw one of them in, say, for example, your luggage.
4:14 You throw one of them in your wallet and hope you don't lose your phone. So,
4:17 unlike the Kensington Proximo, an alarm doesn't go off cuz that one uses little
4:22 fobs that you can put on your keys, for example. And that one has an alarm that
4:26 goes off on the fob that tells you if you left your phone behind, which is
4:30 kind of neat as well, but only works on iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, whereas this one
4:34 is Android. So, there's there's some different sort of uh advantages and
4:38 disadvantages you got away. But I just want to show you guys basically how long
4:41 it'll take for me to go, okay, wallet secured. So, I'm going to put that in
4:45 the pocket where I also have my luggage pro tag. Then, I've got my wallet
4:49 protag, which I put in my wallet. I'm going to accidentally drop my wallet on the concrete and walk away.
4:55 So, we'll see how far I get. I'm at my motorbike. There's B-roll's
5:00 car. And oh, there it goes. So, I can
5:04 snooze the alarm, stop monitoring, or reconnect. So, you lost your belonging
5:09 wallet. Let's go ahead and go back there. And I'm going to try and
5:14 reconnect and see if it can uh see if it can pick that back up for
5:21 me. There we go. wallet is now secured
5:25 and on now that I have been reunited with it. Thank you for checking out my
