0:00 if you watched our recent review of dell's ultra short throw laser projector
0:04 the s718 ql known affectionately around
0:08 the office as kylo ren then you already know that it's a badass 4k HDR projector
0:14 with insane brightness that works just about anywhere
0:18 but what you didn't know is that we actually have not one
0:22 not even two but three kylo ren's and today we're
0:28 gonna do something big with them
0:31 something big and wide
0:40 okay so first thing we need aside from projectors is a rig powerful enough to
0:45 run three 4k displays in games at once so
0:50 what we're using is three quadro p5000
0:54 gpus then we needed a platform that
0:57 could not only support all three of these quadros but that would also have
1:02 space for an additional expansion card
1:05 so we're using an x99 ews from ASUS a
1:09 core i7 6900k eight core processor with
1:13 a hundred and twenty eight gigs of g skill tridency RGB RAM because
1:18 why not and then because our goal isn't
1:21 to display the same image from three projectors no no we want to make one big
1:26 image we need an NVIDIA sync 2 expansion
1:30 card this is the same one from our 16k
1:33 gaming build which you can check out right over there
1:36 powering the whole thing we've got a platymax df platinum 1200 watt power
1:41 supply with sleeve cables right out of the box we've got an equal lens tempered
1:45 glass case although the glass is off right now so i can point at all this
1:49 stuff with high density soundproofing insulation in the front top and side
1:53 we're using a lick max 2 240 millimeter aio cooler that can handle up to a 350
1:59 watt processor and we're using lipa chopper advanced led fans all courtesy
2:05 of enermax who get a big shout out for sponsoring this video
2:09 so then we've got three projectors
2:13 we've got a pc to power them now's the big reveal
2:18 we are going on a little field trip outside where
2:23 we're going to be creating one gigantic
2:26 image on the side of our neighbor's
2:29 building hey i think i solved the network problem
2:35 uh we had a network cable running over to the laser cutter uh so i threw a
2:39 switch here i think for i think we're actually pretty close to the 100 meter
2:44 limit though for Ethernet on that subject
2:48 i think we've got every extension cord in the entire building
2:54 daisy chained together we got enough power out here because we're running
2:57 three 5 000 lumen projectors projectors it's
3:01 cold sorry projectors so yeah they're laser they're efficient
3:05 but still so there are a number of challenges that
3:10 we have to address before we're going to be able to game on this
3:14 number one is that all these projectors
3:17 need to be level off the ground so the innovative strategy that we've come up
3:22 with is a combination of these rocks
3:27 these rubber papers and then we got some printer paper to
3:31 kind of do the fine adjustments at the end problem number two that we have to solve
3:37 is that they all have to be exactly the same distance
3:41 away from the wall although what's cool is that they don't have to be the same
3:45 distance away from each other because the quadro sync card in our
3:50 configuration here allows us to fine tune NVIDIA's mosaic settings on a pixel
3:56 by pixel basis so that we can get them to butt up right against each other
4:01 problem number three is that each one of them has to be
4:05 keystone because we can make all the pixel by pixel
4:09 adjustments in the world that we want but ultimately
4:13 if you have some overlap at the top and a gap at the bottom the mouse movements
4:17 are going to be really unnatural problem number four
4:20 is that our office is right next to a train
4:23 obviously we couldn't do this inside because we wanted to project you know
4:28 like a freaking 80 inch diagonal screen that's been 80
4:32 foot 80 foot sorry imperial is not my strong point
4:36 okay i'm not quite sure how you intended these runs james one for beanbag maybe
4:40 one for beanbag do you want me to help you um help make a spot in it for you
4:45 okay
4:49 okay come on over here okay hold on let me put at least two or
4:54 three is it that heavy yeah it's pretty heavy oh okay okay so
5:00 we've got them good enough because we're not gonna stay
5:04 out here all night um now it's time to make some fine
5:08 adjustments so with monitors you use bezel correction to make it so that when
5:12 something passes over a bezel you don't end up with it misaligned like this
5:17 but now we want overlap i feel like i'm giving a presentation or something so
5:22 now we're just going to you know click the mouse over there you know it took a
5:26 lot of tweaking but once we got it working
5:31 it was absolutely freaking
5:35 sick like james you are actually
5:41 like 40 feet from the start menu right
5:44 here here you go bud guide me in
5:49 you're trying to try to get
5:57 one of the things we learned is that just because it's awesome
6:01 doesn't mean that it is actually usable
6:04 no there now there's trees in the way yeah we did not think this through
6:09 clearly some games operate better in 48 by nine aspect ratio than others do oh
6:15 then your weapons you lost like a couple hp on the jump oh look at the ammo i
6:19 have how much do i have
6:22 yeah that's quality is this resolution
6:25 maybe i don't know what any of these are can you see something that looks like
6:29 system so it turns out that just because you're using three 2500 graphics cards
6:35 that doesn't mean that you can actually game at 60fps
6:39 three times 4k is a lot of pixels you know how gta
6:44 tells you how much video memory you're gonna need for the settings you pick
6:48 it wanted 14 gigs so thanks for watching guys a huge shout
6:53 out to dell and enter max for allowing
6:56 us to uh come out here in the middle of the night
7:00 in the cold and have an utterly unique if not particularly um
7:06 advantageous gaming experience if you guys dislike this video you can hit that
7:10 button but if you liked it hit like get subscribed maybe consider checking out
