so today i'll be unboxing a silent x fan and the reason for this is mostly just
0:05
to demonstrate what comes with them what kind of packaging they come with this
0:08
particular one is a blue led fan that is rated at 14 decibels and 72 cfm which
0:14
they say is the world's best noise to airflow ratio i believe that the ixtreme
0:18
a pro series so 120 blah blah blah it's available without leds with red leds
0:23
green leds and blue leds so why don't we have a look at the back here
0:27
revolutionary fan design and the world's best noise to airflow ratio again okay
0:32
so one of the reasons they say this works so well is because the motor here
0:35
and you can see this on the fan itself compared to a normal 120 millimeter fan
0:40
actually takes up very little space inside this 120 millimeter frame so what
0:45
that means is more of this area is actually dedicated to pushing airflow
0:50
okay and it also includes silicone composite fan mounts that dampen the
0:53
vibration okay they say it's a silence exclusive but there are a lot of fans
0:58
that come with those silicone mounts i'm guessing this is fairly old packaging at
1:02
this point okay so inside we will find the little silicone fan mounts but
1:06
they've also included screws if you prefer to use those or if you're mounting it on a CPU heatsink or
1:11
whatever if there's a reason you need screws then it includes them you've also
1:14
got a molex to three pin fan power adapter okay it's a nice little clear
1:19
plastic wire one kind of like that for some reason then you've got a little
1:24
piece of paper which appears to be a quick installation guide so they show
1:29
you how to remove your existing fan place the silicone mounts in place the
1:32
fan on it and then plug the fan into the motherboard thank you for that
1:36
very few fans actually come with um with instruction manuals that's uh that's
1:40
pretty cool okay so then there is the silence fan itself so you can see like i
1:45
said this is a 120 millimeter fan it's got quite an aggressive shape to the
1:49
blade so you can see that it would be designed more for pressure than for pure
1:53
movement of air when you're not looking to move it through something like a heat
1:57
sink or whatever else actually that's something i should mention is cfm versus
2:01
static pressure so cfm is how many cubic feet of air per minute it will move if
2:06
it's just running like into uh into an empty room whereas if you
2:11
talk about static pressure if you're running it on a heatsink or a radiator
2:15
or something that is going to provide restriction so dust filters restrictive
2:18
fan grills things like that then that is going to be a far more care far more
2:22
important characteristic of the fan this is an open corner fan so that means that
2:26
anything that uses wire clips to mount to the fan you will be able to use some
2:30
fans actually have this space all filled in so some mounting systems won't
2:34
actually work with them you've got your oh i just hit myself in the face okay
2:38
then you've got your little shiny silence sticker on the back you've got a
2:42
reasonably long cord uh it's a three pin power connector thank you for checking
2:46
out my unboxing of the silent x i extreme
2:49
a pro fan
