0:14 Samsung Canada, who's going to be showing us the Galaxy Note 3, which is
0:18 their latest and greatest. Tell us what
0:22 you guys have done to improve this over the well legendary at this point, Galaxy
0:27 Note 2. Sure. I think what people will find it's slightly narrower, slightly
0:31 longer, has a a larger screen size. We've been more efficient in terms of
0:35 the use of the bezel. All of the hardware is updated. Processor, 3 GB of
0:39 on onboard memory, 32 GB of storage
0:42 that's standard. And it's also though in in many ways familiar for Samsung folks,
0:47 a you know, a product that we've put a lot of thought into the into the design.
0:51 Otherwise, you're still able to get inside of the device, even though it has
0:55 this nice sort of luxurious feeling kind of leather background or leather feeling
1:00 background, but in fact, it's still the same flexible light casing that we've
1:04 always had. NFC supported through the battery, 3200 milliamp battery, able to
1:10 add external storage, 13 megapixel
1:13 camera, and for those that have been following along, this is a device that
1:17 borrows a lot from the Galaxy S4 in terms of its functionality, but in it's
1:21 also able to take high-end video, more so than any other device from Samsung.
1:25 Now, you've covered spec a little bit here. So, it does 4K video and also
1:29 1080p video up to 60 FPS, which is pretty awesome. But tell us uh what
1:34 else? What do you mean by latest and greatest hardware inside? Sure. Um, so I
1:38 think that well I think actually the other uh functionality that I wanted to
1:42 cover is more related to the stylus itself where we're kind of bringing
1:46 forward the use of the pen because what is signature about the note more than
1:51 any other device in the family is the fact that we have this option for for
1:55 folks who want to use a pen as part of a natural uh functionality if it'll just
2:00 come out of here just like I rehearsed it. Right? So, the first thing you'll
2:03 notice is that there's an air command feature. So, this is using that hovering
2:06 technology that we first saw on the G on the Note 2 actually and then also
2:11 extended on the Galaxy S4. And you'll see that in fact, I'm able to call up
2:15 certain commands just by hovering the screen. And then I use the the button
2:19 that's on the pen itself to fire up some of those commands. Things as simple as
2:24 being able to take an action memo. So, I' I'm able to take a quick note or I
2:28 can create a new window inside of the inside of the device. And also, it's
2:33 able to sort of navigate now without having to put the pen down. And that's
2:37 the biggest advantage of the Note 3. Show us that window uh that window
2:40 feature. Sure. So, for example, if I if I invoke this pen window functionality,
2:46 you see that I just click that quickly, then I draw a
2:49 square, and then I'm able to run certain utilities or programs inside of that
2:54 window. So let's say I wanted to do so this is sort of replicating you know I'm
2:58 taking notes or I'm doing something else on the phone gez I need to make a quick calculation how can I sort of call that
3:03 up or I want to see a quick video or do some other functionality and being able
3:07 to take advantage of this sort of advanced hardware um without having to
3:11 disturb what I was doing otherwise. So obviously one of the big stories with
3:16 the Note 3 given that it's launching at the same time is integration with the
3:20 Galaxy Gear smartwatch. So tell me how
3:23 these two are are a match made in heaven in your eyes. Sure. Well, I think that
3:27 there are as powerful as smartphones are and there are still some transactions
3:31 that you might have that are are more immediately served by something that's
3:35 more intimate to you. So, for example, being able to take a quick picture or
3:39 get a notification that I'm responding to, rather than seeing that on the
3:43 device, I can have that in a place that's actually closer to me. And
3:46 there's a piece of software that actually is tightly coupled to the use
3:50 of the of the device itself, which is called the gear manager, which is how
3:53 you would actually use the two devices together. So, what would you expect to
3:58 do using the gear versus actually pulling your massive phone out of your
4:02 pocket? Um, sure. Well, you know, a
4:06 couple of examples might be taking a quick picture because it still takes
4:09 some time to, you know, be able to take the the camera out and set it up and so
4:13 on. And if you wanted a high-end picture, that's great. If you wanted a
4:16 quick snapshot to take a video memo almost that it might be better served
4:20 with something that's more closely at hand or get notifications that are are
4:24 sent to me while the device is, let's say, docked or in my pocket or something
4:28 like that without actually having to respond or even take a call, which I
4:31 could do without actually having to, ironically, take out the smartphone and
4:35 use it. I could actually just take that call right from the actually the Galaxy
4:38 Gear. So convergence is dead then. And it's it's we're we're now we're now
4:42 taking the phone functionality out of the phone and putting all the other
4:45 functionality into the phone. Well, I think we've recognized that mobile
4:49 communications is now the hub of what this is doing and that's a much more
4:53 powerful idea than just emailing and phoning. There's a number of things that
4:56 people are going to do in terms of running applications. So then the
5:00 question is is that you know how can we improve the convenience of how a mobile
5:04 communication device works and we think that having something close at hand and
5:07 on your wrist is going to be part of that answer. Awesome. Thanks very much,
5:11 Ken. And without further ado, I'd like for uh the viewers to direct their
5:15 attention to some nice glamour footage of the Galaxy Note 3, which if you're
5:19 into big phones, is very likely to be your next tablet.
