0:07 Welcome to my unboxing and first look at the
0:10 HPM1217 NFW MFP. It's okay. The MFP isn't actually
0:16 part of that ridiculously complicated part number. That stands for
0:20 multi-function printer. So, this is a pretty basic multi-function printer
0:24 except for one key fact. Not only is it
0:28 a network multi-function printer, it supports e-rint, which is cool because
0:32 you can use not only a computer, whether it's a PC or a Mac, you can also use an
0:39 Android smartphone or an iOS device or
0:42 even just from anywhere you send an
0:45 email of the thing you want to print. And as long as you've configurated the
0:49 e-print feature of this printer, then it'll just print it for you, which is
0:53 pretty cool. So, let's have a look at Okay, we don't need to see the contents
0:56 cuz we're going to open it. Here's the minimum minimum system requirements, which are basically like don't have a
1:01 crap computer from the 80s. Um, start printing right away with
1:06 effortless setup. No CD installation required using HP Smart Install. Print
1:10 from virtually anywhere in the office with wireless connectivity. HP Oh, it's
1:13 wireless, too. Oh, neat. Okay. HP's most complete, affordable wireless MFP.
1:17 Features an automatic document feeder with 35 page capacity. Send and receive
1:21 documents using the 33.6 6 kilobit per second
1:24 facts. Yeah. All right. So, that's pretty much
1:29 it. So, it's like wireless and like installs as fast as 5 minutes. And we're
1:34 going to put that to the test because we're going to be using this printer for an upcoming NCX tech tips showcasing the
1:40 e-print feature and basically finding
1:43 out if it's as like bees knees as HP
1:47 seems to think that it is. So, included is a USB cable.
1:51 Oh, a phone cable. Wire. It's only two
1:54 wires. So, is it like a wire or a cable? It's a
1:59 wires and uh contract return
2:05 checklist. Okay. What else we got in
2:10 here? Laser
2:13 jet printer. Okay. Oh, there's more stuff in there.
2:18 Don't take it away, Slick. All right. More documentation. Power
2:25 cable. Ah, trade receptacle
2:30 doodad. And
2:37 uh are those like EMI shield things? It's an EMI shield thing for the cord.
2:42 Okay. discs, including Rediris Pro for
2:53 HP. Oh, I dropped my lens cap for the
2:57 camera. Put that away. All right, so here's the printer
3:01 itself. It's taped so that it doesn't totally fall apart in shipping, which is
3:06 good because if it totally fell apart in shipping, then by the time it reached
3:10 you, it would have totally fallen apart.
3:14 Okay, taking off some tape. This is part of the unboxing
3:19 process. Unpacking
3:22 taping. And it looks pretty much like a
3:25 multi-function printer if I do uh if I do say so. So, there's
3:32 a thing. Give me a sec. Slick and I have spent a fair
3:37 amount of time determining the ins and outs of this multi-function printer. For
3:41 the most part, paper goes in and comes out and ink goes in and comes out. So
3:45 that is the conclusion that we came to at the end of it. So up here is the
3:50 feeder tray style paper input for the uh scanning,
3:55 copying, faxing functionality. Down here is the flatbed style. So it goes in here
4:00 and comes out here and it goes in here and then also comes out here because for
4:04 a flatbed there actually is no feeder system for the paper to come out when
4:09 it's done. Okay. You can also lift this up completely and access where the paper
4:15 comes out for printing or for
4:19 copying but not for scanning because with scanning paper doesn't come out at
4:23 all. And you can install this piece right here which then extends and then
4:28 extends again in order to keep the paper from falling off because you want it to
4:31 come out but not off. Okay. We can also
4:37 access nothing and the ink cartridge.
4:41 So, this is a mono printer. So, there's only black and no
4:46 color. Monochromatic
4:50 world. Put that down. All the functionality of the functionaliness is
4:56 done through here. So, there's your screen, there's your Wi-Fi button,
4:59 there's for dialing numbers to people who you want to send things to. Ideally,
5:04 not black pages. Come on, grow
5:07 up. Okay. Also, your navigation here.
5:11 Can fold that in. One step, two step,
5:14 red step, blue step. And then down here,
5:17 you can load paper, which again has
5:20 that, you know, transformer like unravelingness
5:25 that happens. Um, so it's a 35 page loader.
5:31 Something about no paper clips or staples cuz they're bad. And really it
5:35 comes down to errint. So we're not going to be talking about that right now
5:39 because that's for our NCIX tech tips episode. Let's put that back. On the
5:44 back IO, we've got your power in. We've
5:47 got your Kensington lock. We've got your modem plug as well as phone line and
5:54 other like not quite phone line but more different phone line. I'm guessing this
5:58 is plugged for a reason. Oh, it's probably a pass through for the phone.
6:01 But I mean, who uses a phone anymore? I mean, I haven't seen a phone with a
6:05 cable coming out of it in like months. USB as well as Ethernet, so you
6:12 don't have to use wireless, but you can. Thank you for checking out my unboxing
6:17 and first look at the Laser Pro M127 NFW, which is not the same as an
6:24 SFW.
