0:00 Sometimes we get so focused on the most extreme computers on the planet around
0:04 here, like the upcoming part two of our oil submerged cool PC build log thing
0:11 that we'll be showing off. Make sure you you're subscribed for that. That I think
0:14 we forget that some of the most interesting computers today don't have
0:18 processors made by Intel or AMD, aren't
0:22 powerful enough to solve the economic crisis, and don't require as much power
0:26 to run as a closed dryer. Today's computer, by contrast with the oil cool
0:32 thing, is this tiny battery powered affair that may not be able to tackle
0:37 global issues, but it can let you fly a
0:41 paper airplane around with your smartphone, which is also pretty cool.
0:52 The Cooler Master Neptune 240M features an exclusive pump design and their new
0:57 Sencio fans to provide impressive near silent performance. Click now to learn
1:02 more. The unboxing experience was actually pretty fun because you get a
1:06 whack ton of stuff. Taylor Toys includes the wireless strap-on motor module
1:11 itself, a micro USB cable and 1,000 mAh
1:15 battery bank. four folding templates, although you can print your own later.
1:19 One waterresistant Tyvec Da Vinci style
1:22 template for the Nakamura model plane, spares for the propeller and rudder, and
1:27 finally the user manual, something you will need. The module itself might not
1:32 really look like anything special, but there's actually a ton of technology
1:35 inside. At the rear is a propeller on a variable speed motor and a rudder that
1:40 you'll control later by tilting your phone left and right. Following the
1:44 lightweight carbon fiber stem towards the front, we'll find the processor,
1:47 battery, 55 m range Bluetooth module with antenna, power switch, and micro
1:53 USB charging port that are all protected by a sweet transparent housing that
1:57 clips onto the front of the plane nice and tight like so, and features a soft
2:02 foam nose to protect it during crashes. Now, setup might be a little bit
2:06 intimidating for some people when they see the 48page one language. Yeah, it's
2:11 all one language user manual, but since the battery takes 20 minutes to fill
2:16 anyway, throw it on the charger, and then spend half an hour reading the
2:19 documentation once, folding two templates for the beginner invader plane
2:24 and the more advanced Nakamura. Install the app on your phone. Watch a couple of
2:28 their tutorial videos, some of which are great and some of which are surprisingly
2:32 unprofessional, like the one where the host sneezes in the middle of folding
2:35 the plane and they don't even bother to cut it out. And then you will be ready
2:39 to head to the park and give it a whirl. I'd recommend bringing the manual with
2:43 you for your first few flights because there are some details, particularly
2:47 with respect to the initial fine tuning of your paper airplane, that you might
2:51 want to refer back to. But the gist is you do a test flight with the motor off.
2:56 Make sure it goes straight. Another test flight with the motor on at around 60%
3:01 more if it's a windy day. Although I'd recommend going out on a day that has as
3:05 little wind as possible. And then as long as both of those are satisfactory,
3:08 straight flights, then you're ready to rock. And let me tell you, this thing
3:12 kind of well rocks. Even though it was windier out than I would have liked,
3:17 which made gaining altitude kind of tough for us. Both my cameraman and I,
3:22 uh, this was our new guy, Burkel, shooting this, by the way, had a total
3:26 blast flying this thing around. In the first few test flights that we did, we
3:30 weren't able to achieve the level of performance that the manufacturer shows
3:35 off in their promotional video. But even as an inexperienced, you know, aircraft
3:40 builder and pilot, I was able to have a ton of fun. And the more success we had,
3:45 the more improvements we made, the more I wanted to keep trying so that I could
3:50 get that level of performance out of it because I think it's very doable. You
3:53 just I I think the key to having a great experience with this toy is just
3:58 experimentation. If you just want instant success out of the box and you
4:02 don't feel like working on your plane between crashes to get solid performance
4:06 out of it, then this product might not be for you. But if you're a tinkerer by
4:10 nature and you're looking for something, you know, interactive and engaging to
4:14 do, you know, I don't know, by yourself or with your kids or even with your
4:17 buddies, it's worth every penny. You'll have a blast. Um, back to boring review
4:21 stuff again. I guess range is as advertised. So is battery life. And the
4:25 Android and iOS apps both worked great for us with an Xperia Z2 and iPhone 6.
4:31 Although, guys, double check your phone for compatibility because it does use
4:34 Bluetooth smart or whatever. So, you have to have a newer Bluetooth chipset
4:38 on your phone. Um, but overall, I think Taylor Toys did a great job of
4:42 delivering what they said they would. I do still think there are some things
4:45 they could improve, though. I mean, I would love to see a beefed up version with a more powerful motor and or a
4:50 bigger battery for longer flights. I mean, I hope they continue to invest R&D
4:54 resources into this idea cuz I think it's really cool. Um, but I also think
4:57 the out ofthe-box experience could be a bit better. The manual is excellent, but
5:02 their site navigation is poor and so is the organization of their tutorial
5:06 videos on their YouTube channel, which made things a little bit more difficult
5:09 for me as a novice user than they needed to be. I mean, here's a here's a couple
5:13 of examples. They don't have any letter size templates for letteriz plane
5:17 designs, even though they refer to them and say you can build them. So, if you're in one of those backward
5:21 countries that doesn't normally use A4 printer paper, then you'll have to go
5:25 obtain some somewhere. Um, there's also the completely unnecessary add a $0
5:31 template download thing to your shopping cart and then check out on their site in
5:37 order to even fold more planes on your own and get the templates. Um, so that
5:41 that was kind of annoying, but I mean I guess there there is good news. They do
5:44 have these cool Tyvec Da Vinci templates. Um, I grabbed a 10 pack of
5:48 them when I backed the Kickstarter, so it's not all bad. And really, these are
5:52 all minor complaints. I think overall the conclusion should be this. The
5:55 PowerUp 3.0 know is a great gift idea
5:59 for a son, nephew, co-orker, uncle, or
6:04 female version of any of the above who loves little electronic gadgets and
6:09 paper airplanes. By the way, guys, speaking of
