0:02 Honestly, I'm not even sure where to start with this one today. So, you
0:06 probably saw our last sponsored video from Lenovo on the yoga book. If you
0:10 didn't, it's right around there. But, uh, here we
0:22 go. Okay, so let's clear some space.
0:26 Raor core, you're out. MacBook Pro, you're
0:30 out. Moneycat. Money cat's in. So, Fab 2 Pro.
0:37 What is this thing? It's a phone. It's a tablet. It's a fabt. It's right in the
0:41 name. So, it's got a Snapdragon
0:44 processor, a static cling screen covered thingaboo. It's got
0:50 64 gigs of storage. It's got uh AC
0:53 Wi-Fi. It's got a 4,50 milliamp battery.
0:57 It's got a massive 1440 screen and Oh,
1:04 look at that. Would you look at that?
1:07 Now, would you look at
1:11 that? It's a headphone jack, right? But
1:14 moving around to the back, this is where we get into the really interesting
1:18 stuff. So, right here is a 16 megapixel camera. 16 megapixels RGB, which
1:24 basically just means it's a camera, but no, no, there's other stuff. So, this
1:27 guy right here is a depth camera. This
1:30 is a flash. So, the flash is normal, too. These are the normal parts. Then,
1:35 there's a fisheye camera and a fingerprint. Okay. A lot of phones have
1:39 those, too. Okay. So, every other thing back here is unusual. Let's go ahead and
1:44 get this baby fired up. Wow, that is a really fast fingerprint sensor. It is
1:50 actually registering them that fast. Discover Tango. An introduction to the
1:56 Tango
2:00 experience. Tango. That must be an OLED display.
2:05 Actually, I can't tell. Oh crap. IPS.
2:09 Oh, wow. Those are really deep blacks. Whoa. Check this out.
2:15 So the idea is that it uses a combination of the sensors and
2:20 cameras to figure out spatially where
2:27 Why is there like a goat or something in my office?
2:31 It's not a deer. I don't know what it is.
2:39 Okay, now I'm really confused. These are
2:42 like wolf deer raccoon things.
2:48 Whoa, look at him go. Oh, he stopped.
2:51 What a loser. Loser.
2:55 Wrong. Oh, whoa. That's like a window into the like real world
3:00 again. Whoa. And we're back to the real world. Okay, so back to the cameras
3:04 again. Why do they need all these cameras and sensors for Google Tango?
3:09 Well, they need sensors that are capable of motion tracking. So, this is
3:12 obviously to help the device understand its orientation in physical space. They
3:17 need multiple cameras that allow Tango to recognize the world around the device
3:21 by utilizing visual cues. This helps to self-correct for errors in the motion
3:25 tracking. And it needs the depth sensor
3:28 that allows Tango enabled devices, right now this is the only one, of course, to
3:32 understand the shape of the world around it. So that way you can interact with
3:36 the world around you in all new ways utilizing the virtual world created by
3:41 Tango. So uh now that we've got that all
3:45 sorted out, let's go try it, shall we? So the idea is that you trash the
3:53 castle.
4:02 Okay, fantastic.
4:05 Now, what happens? That's it. I only get one
4:09 shot. I mean, that's okay. I got three stars, I guess. But I want to go see it.
4:14 Check that out. That's what you can't do in Angry
4:20 Birds. Get in close and inspect the
4:24 havoc you've caused. Oh my goodness. There's so many dead people in that
4:28 castle. You just can't see it cuz you don't have the angle for it. But trust
4:31 me, there's lots of dead people on the It's actually a
4:35 savage, savagely realistic
4:38 game. Size
4:42 matters. Bigger pieces are harder to knock over than smaller ones. All right,
4:46 I'm too close to the damn island. You're too close to me. Okay, this time I'm
4:52 going to strategically
4:55 attack that spot right there. But I'm going to pull it back harder because I
4:59 think that was my problem last time. Oh, I'm sitting in the garbage can. This is
5:03 fine. Everything about what's going on right now is
5:10 fine. What? Hey, where'd you go? Oh. Oh,
5:13 look at him. There he goes. Can I pet it? I actually don't know. Oh, yes. I
5:19 think so. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I got you. Whoa. There we go. Oh. Oh, yeah. We got
5:23 a huge dog. Giant puppy. His eyes are so soulless and
5:31 empty. Ah, he's coming for us.
5:35 Okay, so new idea. Let's go on the green screen and try the dinos among
5:41 us. An experiment in augmented reality
5:44 from the American Museum of National History. National
5:48 Natural. That's not a dino. That's a
5:53 penguin. Can you stop poking me with the camera?
5:56 Jeez. Okay. Velociraptor.
6:01 Oh, that's not nearly as big as I thought it
6:05 would be. No, no, no, no. That's what like real raptors are like. They were
6:09 like turkeys. Really? Yeah. So, they're not like
6:14 Jurassic Park. I mean, there is a dinosaur like that, but it wasn't the
6:19 Velociraptor. Interesting. You know, I've heard about this this whole thing
6:23 where like there's speculation that dinosaurs were much more closely related
6:27 to birds and probably had feathers versus being like reptiles with scaly
6:32 skin like we thought they were when we were kids. Mind you, when I was a kid,
6:36 we thought Brontosaurus was a thing. So, that's how out of touch my generation
6:41 is. Okay, do
6:45 something. Oh, can I make it bigger?
6:48 Velociraptor was a fierce predator. probably had large
6:53 wings.
6:58 Interesting. That's really
7:01 cool. I'm just going to put all the dinosaurs
7:05 around. We're just going to have an office full of dinosaurs. Oh, that's
7:08 cool. It still remembers where I put Velociraptor. That is really cool. Here,
7:13 let's place our last one. Oh, wow. That one's
7:19 big. Hey,
7:22 bud. See? So, there's our uh kadypter,
7:27 our archopterix, and our velociraptor, and
7:31 our
7:34 ornithamus. Oh, I can move. Oh, he put his head down. There he
7:39 is. Yeah. Yeah, that's it. So, let's try
7:43 a game. This is sure a lot less work than uh dominoes when I was a kid. I
7:49 wonder how many dominoes you can
7:53 draw. Oh, how fast can you
8:02 go? Okay, step back.
8:14 Oh, that's not what I meant to do. Oh no, they're going to hit each
8:19 other. We're going to have a domino
8:23 collision. Oh, fail. That's pretty cool
8:27 though, actually. So, tango then. Now,
8:30 I've seen this kind of tech before. I've seen like take a picture and have
8:33 dinosaurs appear in it or whatever the case may be. But it's pretty clear that
8:37 thanks to the additional hardware, the
8:40 whole thing does work better on this. Now, with that said, everything you guys
8:44 saw today was either obviously pretty early stages or clearly
8:50 labeled as an experimental project. So,
8:53 what I want to know from you then is what do you see in terms of the
8:58 potential future for this? Let us know in the comments below. We will be
9:02 reading them. So, thanks again then to Lenovo for sponsoring this video and for
9:06 sending us the Fab 2 Pro. If all this augmented reality looked pretty cool to
9:10 you, you can actually get one of your own. We'll have that linked in the video description. And I think that pretty
9:15 much wraps it up. Thanks again for watching, guys. Don't forget to subscribe and all that good stuff. I
9:20 will see you again next time, but maybe
9:23 in augmented reality.
