0:08 the G155 mobility gaming station. Should
0:11 you ever have the desire to travel with your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 Slim, you
0:18 can get one of these and you can game on the go. I am have it all packed up
0:24 inside here and ready to demo, but I just want to show you guys the outside of this case. I did an unboxing already,
0:28 so you can check that out if you want to see it. But, uh, we'll just sort of
0:32 recap for the sake of anyone who hasn't already watched that video. So, on the
0:37 top, you've got your manufacturer logo, which is G A E M S. I guess it's meant
0:42 to be pronounced games, like as in spelled wrong, but still would be
0:46 pronounced games. Okay, so it's the G155. Okay. On this side, you find a
0:51 clip, which can have a shoulder strap attached to it by the look of things. It
0:56 could also have a lock attached to it, whichever you prefer. I don't think that's going to work as a shoulder
0:59 strap. Let's go with lock. So, you can lock the one side, you can lock the
1:04 other side. Okay. On the bottom, you find three rubber nonslippy things. On
1:09 the bottom, you find more rubber non-slippiness. So, whether you put it
1:13 down this way or whether you put it down this way, it shouldn't slip and it
1:17 shouldn't fall over. Now, the unit was unstable when I put it on the table in
1:21 my unboxing. But, see, look. Look how stable it is. Now, the reason is that
1:25 it's meant to have a game console loaded in it in addition to the LCD monitor
1:29 that's already in there. So, that's why it was leaning to one side quite easily
1:33 when it didn't have a console inside. So, I'm going to go ahead and put this
1:37 down. This is the game I'm going to run on it right here. Uncip both sides. Oh,
1:43 yeah. The carrying piece. So, metal, robust rubber here, very
1:48 strong. All right, let's open this bad
1:52 boy up. And inside we
1:55 find our HD LCD monitor, including a
2:00 power button, volume control, brightness
2:03 up, brightness down, menu, and two headphone jacks, an HDMI input, and a
2:09 power input. This two headphone jacks thing is critical because you're
2:12 probably not going to be playing with like four players on something like this. But it'd be pretty cool if you
2:17 were traveling around and you had your your Xbox 360 and you could, you know,
2:21 plug in one pair of headphones to get your friend to plug in a pair of headphones and then you could use the
2:26 two controllers that can be stored in the little pouch on the side here. So,
2:31 I've got two Xbox 360 controllers there. You could also take out the power plugs,
2:37 which I'm going to go ahead and plug in. So, I'll need two. So, I'll go one
2:43 there. And then I'm going to pull out the Xbox Whoops. 360 power brick. And
2:50 I'm going go ahead and take that around there. So, this is the setup that you
2:53 will have to do. The reality of it is you need to uh two power plugs and all
2:58 that in order to get the unit running. So, you know, hopefully you can live
3:02 with that. I'm going to have to unplug one of my lights in here. So, hopefully it's not too bad. Is it okay? Okay. All
3:06 right. So, that's what I had stored in there. Now, I wasn't able to find any
3:10 additional room for games, but I guess you could probably get away with like one game here or something like that.
3:15 But, you can see how the Xbox 360 is strapped in. So, this pad on the bottom
3:19 protects it. It's very, very soft. You can flip it over the other way for the
3:23 PS3 Slim or for the Xbox 360 slim. And then what you do is you take these
3:27 straps, you strap in your console, and it is not going anywhere. So, I have it
3:33 plugged in. Let's go ahead and power it on. I've actually not yet turned this
3:38 thing on before. And I hope I have batteries in
3:43 my Xbox 360 controller. I do. All
3:49 right. Okay. Give me a sec here, guys. I'll wait for it to boot up. Sorry about
3:54 that, guys. Okay. So, we have the G155
3:58 gaming station. I've got it all set up and the Xbox 360 is booted up. And I
4:03 also have a helium balloon. So, I'm feeling pretty
4:07 lightheaded right about now. Oh, that's better. Okay. So, I just want to show
4:11 you guys basically how it works in terms of the viewing angle, in terms of any
4:15 sort of ghosting or motion blur that you're going to see on this particular
4:19 screen. So, uh I mean I think you pretty much got the point. Here's something
4:23 that it bears noting. Uh, it's really
4:27 hard to move around once it's deployed because of the rubber grippy things on
4:30 the bottom, which is good. You don't want it to just sort of randomly move
4:34 around. But, um, all your ventilation holes at the back have ample room
4:39 between the back of the Xbox and the screen. Your ventilation holes here are
4:42 not Did I just do something? Oh, I just ejected the game. Whoops. Um, are not
4:47 too obstructed by the straps. And then the ones on the bottom are also not that
4:51 obstructed. So, your Xbox 360 shouldn't run into any more uh overheating
4:56 problems than normal uh when you're using the
4:59 G155. Now, in terms of the speakers that we're equipped with here, I guess uh
5:04 give me a sec to get the game booted back up now that I now that I broke it,
5:08 and then we can uh we can listen to the speakers. So, just a sec. So, here's the
5:12 viewing angles, you guys. It is a TN panel, so it's not going to be perfect
5:16 by any stretch of the imagination. But I'm so far away at this point that uh
5:22 really realistically, you're not going to be playing with four people on something like this. So, if you got two
5:27 people, you're sitting at a reasonable distance. You got kind of person one
5:30 here, it's going to look about like that. And then you got person one here,
5:33 and it's going to look about like that. So, uh that's pretty much how it's going
5:37 to go down. Now, in terms of the volume, let's go ahead
5:42 and crank this up. I mean, I don't want you guys to
5:46 have unrealistic expectation. Okay, we're probably not going to crank that
5:49 all the way up because it's getting pretty loud to be perfectly
5:53 honest. So, go ahead and start the game. Continue
5:57 story. So, here, why don't I just kind of leave this here, and I'm going to go
6:02 ahead and adjust the screen. No, apparently I can't do that. Okay. So,
6:07 what I could do is I could put a game box
6:11 here and I could put that
6:14 there. So, it is a glossy screen, so you are going to get a little bit of
6:18 reflectiveness. So, I'm going to go ahead and kill the light that's right
6:21 behind it. And the other light. There we
6:24 are. Hand to hand gives you the ability to execute. Okay. Whoops. Okay. I
6:31 haven't really used the Xbox much, so uh
6:34 I'm not an expert. Is it loading right now
6:39 or? There we
6:42 go. Come on. Sooner we get this loaded up, the sooner we get it to the
6:46 Americans at the airport. Sooner we do that, the sooner we get paid.
6:52 Oh, was that a guy? How we doing?
6:58 Yeah, no kidding. Any idea what's in the big box?
7:03 Okay. Apparently, they didn't notice that.
7:13 I've actually never played a Splinter Cell game. A to jump. Oh, that one.
7:17 Okay, there we go.
7:21 Here we go. Left trigger to drop. Left.
7:25 Oh, wow.
7:29 Cool. And they didn't notice that somehow. I think they're even facing
7:34 over there.
7:41 Okay. Well, the general point of that was that the speakers are pretty loud.
7:44 Definitely a satisfactory gaming experience. So, thank you for checking
7:48 out my uh first look and gameplay video
7:51 with the G51 portable gaming station, and I hope
7:55 you enjoyed it. Don't forget to subscribe to Linus Tech Tips for more unboxings, reviews, and other computer
8:01 videos.
8:04 You know what? Just to give you guys some idea, it looks better in person than it looks on the camera. There's a
8:09 lot of reflectiveness that the camera's catching and that you really can't see
8:13 in person. I'd say this zone kind of right here is representative of how the
8:18 screen actually looks. Because with that light behind me, it looks fine. Yeah,
8:24 it's just the lens is having the camera's having a hard time adjusting to
8:28 the uh the back lit screen. So, I'd say the color is sort of more like this than
8:34 like this at all. This is This is more like it.
