0:07 Welcome to my unboxing of the Kingston
0:10 HyperX SSD. This is their first HyperX
0:14 branded SSD, which to me indicates that
0:17 Kingston is fairly confident in the
0:21 performance, excuse me. Yeah, I guess we'll just keep
0:25 rolling then, of this particular unit. So this is featuring a sandforce
0:30 controller. It runs controller controller. It runs on SATA 3 6 Gbit per
0:36 second. And what they are claiming is that you can improve system performance
0:39 by 60%. And let's find out what that asked based on PC Mark system
0:43 performance suite. Well, I will go ahead and say that Kingston is entirely wrong
0:48 to make that statement. Completely 100% wrong. You want to know why? because
0:54 system performance will increase dramatically more than 60% by going from
1:00 a hard drive to an SSD. That is a very
1:03 conservative statement. Now, in some scenarios, you'll see 0%. This is true.
1:09 However, in other scenarios, like for example, when you are
1:13 uh in the middle of a of an intense task and you all of a sudden you like you
1:17 want to do something else, it can perform double, triple, quadruple, even
1:21 10 times faster than a system that's still relying on an ancient mechanical
1:25 hard drive. So, this particular drive is rated for reads of up to 525 megabytes
1:30 per second and writes of up to 480 megabytes per second. It comes with a
1:34 three-year warranty, 24/7 tech support,
1:37 and it also includes a bunch of accessories that other SSD manufacturers
1:42 do not include, which I will show you when I
1:46 figure out how to get the box open. There we go. All right. It is also by
1:50 far the sickest looking SSD that I have
1:53 ever seen. It is fully Kingston HyperX
1:57 looking. It's got a big metal X on the top of it with a blue background with
2:01 the Kingston guy and the Kingston logo. On the back, it has a SATA power
2:06 connector as well as a SATA 3 6 Gbit per second data connector and some jumpers
2:10 that you probably won't need to use. It has some mounting holes on this side,
2:14 some mounting holes on this side, and some mounting holes on the bottom,
2:18 including a warranty void if removed sticker. So, don't remove that or your
2:22 warranty will be voided. I have no warranty on this particular drive, though anyway. It's very heavy. It's
2:26 quite heavy. uh due to the plastic housing would be my guess and the metal
2:31 housing. It's very thick housing, very robust feeling. Um something to bear in
2:35 mind about those mounting holes that are on the drive is that those are standard.
2:38 This will fit in your notebook. It will fit in your desktop with this adapter
2:42 right here. So here is a Kingston HyperX branded 2 and 1/2 in to 3 and 1/2 in SSD
2:48 adapter. So you go ahead, you put your drive on there, which will look nice and
2:51 sharp. Look at that. See, Kingston Kingston considers things. This is smart
2:58 because when you put the drive on, you can still see the HyperX logo on the
3:02 adapter. Check that out. See little things. We've also got included screws.
3:08 Included other more different screws. So, these ones are for mounting the SSD
3:11 to the adapter. These are for mounting the adapter to your case. We have a
3:15 solid state drive installation guide. Includes hard drive cloning software.
3:18 Very nice. including that hard drive cloning software is a big value ad in my
3:23 opinion because especially for notebook users, it allows you to easily move your
3:28 OS from your hard drive to your SSD.
3:31 They also include a screwdriver. Check that out. So, you got a flathead and two
3:35 different Phillips heads. And it's in the convenient form factor of a pen-like
3:41 object, which you can put the bits back in, you can close back up, and then you
3:45 can put it in your front pocket, and it
3:48 can sit there like that. Proud Kingston HyperX user. All right. Next, we have an
3:55 external drive enclosure. Now, why would Kingston include this? Very good
4:00 question, and I will provide you with the answer. The reason Kingston would
4:03 include this HyperX branded external hard drive enclosure is so that you have
4:08 a way when you unlock it and put your
4:11 desktop, your old desktop drive, your hard drive in there, you will have a way
4:14 to a transfer the data using their cloning software to your new SSD and B,
4:22 you will have a use for your old hard drive now. So, you can just go ahead and
4:26 put that cover back on.
4:30 Put the cover back
4:34 on, lock it in place, plug in the USB
4:37 cable, which they have conveniently included, and now you have an external hard drive to go along with your SSD
4:42 equipped notebook. They've also included a SATA cable, which if you are
4:47 installing it in a desktop, you will need. So, it comes with everything you
4:51 need to install it in a notebook or a desktop or even in your shirt pocket,
4:57 which once again, I'm trying to demo and I don't have one. So, it is not working.
