0:03 And we're live. Welcome to the WAN Show, my
0:08 friends. We've actually got a great show for you guys today. It feels like we
0:13 hardly ever host the show together anymore. It's like probably less than
0:17 50% of the time. Like either you're out of the country or I'm out of the country
0:21 or you're in the country, but lazy.
0:25 That's mean. I legitimately, we were talking about this before the show. I
0:29 legitimately don't remember why you weren't here last week. Where were you?
0:34 Uh oh, that's right. You had the personal thing. Yeah. Oh, that's right.
0:39 So, that's the same reason that I
0:42 probably could not be here today if there were anything that I could do.
0:47 Yes. Um Yeah. Oh, that's right. Our lives are going great. Yeah. It's been
0:52 kind of a rough couple weeks. Um, the good news is my rough couple weeks isn't
0:56 quite as bad as like my grandparents rough couple weeks. So, you know, hey,
1:01 um, knock on wood for the that it
1:05 continues to continue to not be more worse than it already is. Minecraft or
1:09 something. Well, no, no, it's it's like it's a joke because your head's made of
1:13 wood if you're an idiot.
1:19 So, it's time for the land show, guys. Lots of great topics for you today.
1:24 Oculus stops blocking Vive owners from
1:28 playing exclusive Rift games. Basically,
1:31 uh, they needed some good PR, so they went and bought it. Yeah, I think they
1:37 heard my video was coming and they were like, whoa. And then did this. Yeah, I'm
1:41 pretty sure that's what happened. Microsoft pays a woman. So, I'm I'm
1:45 sorry. Did they actually send us a review sample or did they just
1:49 eventually after 2 months prioritize your paid order? I think it was 52 days
1:54 later they prioritized our paid order. And to add to that, it wasn't that they
1:58 like shoved it through the queue when it might have been difficult. They're now
2:02 shipping them at a much faster rate. So got production way higher than it was
2:07 before and then we're like, "Yeah, we can probably give them one of those."
2:10 Microsoft pays a woman
2:13 $10,000 over a forced Windows 10
2:16 upgrade.
2:19 Which Okay, I guess we'll talk more about it later. Yeah, we'll talk more about it later. Tesla driver dies in the
2:24 first crash while using autopilot mode. First fatal crash specifically. First
2:29 fatal crash. Yes. Did I say dies in? Yeah, you said dies in the first crash,
2:34 but there have been crashes. Oh, that's fair. That is fair. Yeah, I mean we may
2:39 not want to be down. US border control could start asking for your social media
2:42 accounts. Oh no. What? Oh no. Actually
2:47 for Okay, we'll discuss it more later, but I might be in favor of this. So
2:51 let's roll the intro and we'll get to all these topics and more. I can just
2:55 take these off my head. They keep like I keep being like what's on my head? I
2:59 keep touching God.
3:22 Visit squarespace.com.
3:27 Actually, it's squarespace.comwanshow. It's not even
3:31 the right link.
3:35 Oh, and now I hate this show. Um,
3:41 so why don't we jump right into our first topic? Um, Oculus stops blocking
3:46 Vive owners from playing exclusive Rift
3:49 games. You know why this actually happened? Um, you know what? Can I do my
3:54 ignorant version first and then can you tell us why it actually happened? Sure.
3:59 Okay. So, original article here is from the Oops. You might be right. website
4:05 that I Hold on. Hold on. It's from The Verge. Yeah. Yeah. Hold on. Let's just
4:10 see if Oh, please work. Please work completely flawlessly in every Oh, no
4:14 way. It worked. Okay, so original article is from The Verge. And
4:19 basically, if you guys haven't been paying attention, Oculus has their store
4:24 where you can buy games and applications and in theory at some point when it's
4:28 not just games, um, where you can buy games. And in that store, some of the
4:34 games are exclusive to the Rift. And so,
4:37 basically what Oculus was doing was
4:40 someone came out and I forget what the pro the project was called. Libra
4:44 something. Libra VR or Libra Vive or something. Libra. Libra VRvive.
4:49 There we go. Libra VRvive. and found a
4:52 way to bypass um the DRM that existed on
4:56 these games that prevented people who did not own a Rift from playing them.
5:02 And then Oculus reacted by tightening down the DRM and making it so that like
5:06 I actually got as far as to launch Ly's Tail and I could like look around and
5:11 enjoy the platformy go, oh, it's a platformer. I should be playing it on a
5:14 screen with a controller. And then you just decided to I actually really want
5:18 to play it in VR. So, I haven't played it yet, though. You actually have.
5:23 Anyway, so I got as far as to be able to look around in the game, but then they
5:27 made it so the controller wouldn't work. So, that was one of the ways that they
5:31 that they locked it down. So, Oculus, having come under fire lately, seems to
5:39 have bought themselves some positive PR
5:43 by discontinuing the blocking of
5:47 uh their their exclusive and DRM games,
5:51 discontinued the blocking of preventing Vive owners from playing them there.
5:54 Let's call that grammatically correct. Okay, what actually happened? Okay. So,
5:58 uh, Oculus had a check in all of the games downloaded from their store that
6:03 just did a headset check. Is this a rift? Is it check yourself? It It should
6:07 check. Does it prevent you from wrecking yourself? Because they did kind of wreck themselves. Did they? Okay. And well, if
6:12 you think Yeah, the PR is really bad, so they kind of wrecked, right? Yeah. Okay.
6:16 Anyway, so that's that's all that LibraVRive was getting around at first
6:21 was is this thing a rift? Yes or no? I I
6:25 think they just like removed that check or they just told it it was a Rift and
6:29 then moved on or something, but it just basically that part didn't matter. So
6:33 Oculus got a little upset, patched in like straight up DRM to not allow. It
6:39 was it was more intense than just a simple check. And then the way that
6:42 Libra VR/revive had to fix that was with a
6:46 complete DRM breaking patch which
6:49 enabled piracy. Oh, the original Libra VIX Revive patch
6:56 did not enable piracy. It didn't help you pirate games. The the new patch, so
7:00 you had to buy the game around the headset check. Yes, that was the
7:05 original one. The new one didn't. And Libravr/Revive was like, "Yo, we don't
7:10 really want to do this, but this is the only option we have to play Rift games
7:14 on a Vive." So, there you go. So, Oculus
7:19 has now allowed people to use games
7:24 bought on the Oculus store on the Vive
7:28 um while saying we continually revise
7:31 our entitlement and anti-privacy
7:34 systems. Um and where is
7:38 it? We believe uh protecting developer
7:42 content is critical to the long-term success of the VR industry. So, while
7:46 they're also doing stuff like uh where's
7:50 the why is it an Apple News link to the Verge? The doc is broken for some
7:56 reason. Well, there's also stuff going on like saying it's solving a major sore
8:02 point between Oculus and parts of the VR
8:05 community. I don't think that was actually the motivation for this. That
8:09 might be a helpful way for them to paint it so that they also get good PR out of
8:13 the move. But I think the problem is
8:16 their action whether they intended it to or
8:20 not was directly resulting in the
8:23 removal of things that stopped piracy in a very widespread way. So, the way for
8:29 them to try to slow down or stop or whatever the piracy that was going on,
8:34 they made a way to keep antipiracy stuff
8:37 in there, but allow people to use it across
8:42 platforms. You notice how at the bottom of these notes, it says LibraVR/revive
8:46 developers have removed their DRM breaking patch. Good. So, that's gone,
8:51 which is good. That's good. All right. I'm I'm like I'm creating havoc
8:56 in Twitch chat right now. Why? by saying that it is pre-recorded because it's a
9:00 national holiday today. Oh my god. Can
9:04 we just like everything every Okay. Okay. So, everyone and their dog in
9:09 Twitch chat wants us to move on to a bit of a different topic here. Um, so the
9:15 original article here is from 9to5 Mac
9:18 and there is some bad news in the in the
9:21 Apple repair world. So, TechServe, which
9:25 has been in business for 29 years in the
9:29 New York area, has apparently decided to
9:32 shutter their doors. Um, citing
9:36 competition from, I think it's four Apple stores, uh, Best Buy, and, uh,
9:42 let's see what else we got going on here, and online sales. So, they're
9:46 saying they're no longer doing enough business on the sales side to make
9:49 continued operation viable. So, they were a third-party Apple product repair
9:54 shop. And this actually would seem to indicate
10:00 that it's possible um that there's more to this than
10:06 necessarily just the business isn't viable. So, Lewis Rossman, uh, who you
10:10 guys may know from the super angry video where the guy was so mad at me for
10:15 putting a video card in an oven that he was practically foaming at the mouth and
10:20 swearing his head off. I have never actually watched the video because I was
10:24 pretty sure it would just annoy me and make it so that I didn't want to work with him. But I decided that, you know,
10:29 my reaction to that video, because he wasn't
10:34 wrong, my reaction to that video should be to show up at his shop and have him
10:39 show me how to do it properly. Sharp guy, nice guy. He was just upset. I have
10:44 to give you props. That was a pretty pretty gentlemanly move. I get it. I get
10:49 it. I understand why he was mad. I totally get it. And you know what? We
10:52 went out for dinner. We we patched our differences and uh and I've actually
10:57 been in touch since then. We we submerged some phones in saltwater a
11:01 little while ago and I got his help as a consultant to help us figure out if
11:05 could could there be any way to revive them. Turns out the answer was no. Um I
11:08 actually owe him an email back. He's like, "Hey, whatever happened with that?" Cuz I emailed him last night when
11:12 I saw this video. Um no, it didn't work,
11:15 bud. Sorry, man. Um yeah, nothing about
11:18 nothing about it worked. Was terrible. They were under salt water for a while.
11:22 Well, they were under salt water for a while and then they were submerged in alcohol for five weeks because I didn't
11:27 get to them because I was like out of the country for weeks. So, yeah, that
11:31 also doesn't sound great. Everything about it is terrible. Um the the the
11:35 laminated layers of the like screen and
11:38 the glass and the the touch interface just fell apart in my hand. Well,
11:44 because of the alcohol, right? Cuz you just like burned all the glue
11:47 everything. All the adhesive, all the seals, all the O-rings. Anyway, so um
11:54 there may be more to this because Lewis's video from last night
12:01 contained a lot of uh
12:05 unclear sort of wording about things,
12:08 but it was really clear on a few things. Number one is that his business is
12:12 viable. And I could have told you that because I went down I visited him like
12:15 two months ago, three months ago, something like that. And I walked into
12:19 his shop. There was customer in, there
12:22 was customer out. I saw his rate card. I
12:26 saw how many people he has on staff. I've watched his videos. I know how long
12:29 the repairs take. It doesn't take a freaking genius to do the math. He's
12:32 doing just fine. He's built himself a business from nothing and is more than
12:38 surviving. Um, he even offered to pay for dinner, but I didn't let him because
12:42 I knew it was my bad for upsetting him by putting by baking video cards.
12:46 Anyway, so he made it really clear that
12:49 anything that happens to his business, if his business is gone, you know, in a
12:53 month that it is not because it was not viable. Um, he made it really clear that
13:00 there are tools available online that
13:03 will allow you to download the videos of a given channel um to perhaps to archive
13:09 them just in case YouTube was no longer serving those videos. So, what he seems
13:14 to be hinting at very strongly, and you can see for for such a small channel,
13:18 it's got 171,000 subscribers and uh
13:22 372,000 views on this video. So, for such a small channel, I would consider
13:26 that to be kind of semiviral. Um it's about like if we released a video that
13:30 did 5 million views. Yeah. So, that that would be that's a certain amount of
13:34 virality that we've got going on with this video. People are reacting very strongly to this. There's a lot of
13:39 speculation that Apple themselves, who have been
13:44 known to do things as crazy as sick SWAT
13:49 teams on repair shops that are selling
13:53 Apple trademarked merchandise. In the in the case of one of the stories I heard,
13:58 it was actually replacement back plates for iPhones that had Apple logos on
14:03 them. Um, so they've gone as far as to to six
14:07 SWAT teams on these people and closed down their shops. Um, it is being
14:11 speculated that Apple could be behind Lewis potentially losing his YouTube
14:16 videos as well as his livelihood in the
14:20 form of his shop. I have no confirmation from him. I suspect based on that he's a
14:25 pretty outspoken guy. Not real afraid of
14:28 just kind of saying whatever he's thinking, you know.
14:33 firing from the hip a little. Um I I
14:37 suspect that there is um some kind of
14:41 legal imposition on him to keep his
14:44 mouth shut at this time and that it could affect the the proceedings of of
14:48 whatever battle it is that he finds himself in. Um he's not asking for any
14:53 money. He's not asking for really anything. I reached out. I said, "Hey,
14:57 bro, can I do anything to help?" He said, "No, it's just good to know that
15:00 that that you're there." Um, so I guess that's all that's all that I would ask
15:05 guys is uh either check out there's I think there's a thread on Reddit as
15:09 well, but check that out or just uh oh, I guess you guys don't have to watch me
15:13 do this, but leave a comment under the video. Just be like, "Yo, you know,
15:17 whatever's going on, we're there because he's a good guy and there's a bad thing
15:21 happening to him right now." And uh that's pretty much uh pretty much
15:26 where I'm at on the whole Lewis Rossman thing.
15:30 Um, yeah. So, uh, maybe we could move on to
15:36 some good news. One second. How about some good news? One second. Wow. We
15:41 don't have a lot of good news, do we? We have some funny news. What's up?
15:46 Um, no, I don't think I want to get involved in that. Okay. Um, okay. So,
15:52 this the original article here is from Extreme Tech, and this is some pretty
15:57 extreme craziness. A woman wins a $10,000 judgment against
16:04 Microsoft for the forced Windows 10
16:07 upgrade that happened on her computer. Do you want to post this in the Twitch chat? Yep. On it.
16:11 Um, wow. Does this have the potential to
16:15 open the floodgates or is this a one-time thing or uh, hey Microsoft, I
16:19 want my 10 grand. You bricked my computer. Yeah, obviously temporarily.
16:24 So, not really bricked, but like but like it was very inconvenient for me. made it completely unusable until I like
16:30 reformatted everything. So, Terry Goldstein of
16:35 Saucelito, don't quote me on that. Uh, California sued Microsoft after a failed
16:41 Windows 10 upgrade left her system performing poorly, not even in an
16:45 unusable state, which I know you've personally experienced. Yeah, and like I
16:48 know other people have as well. I know people have experienced this, too. So, she's also not the only one. prone to
16:53 crashing and reportedly unusable for multiple days. Goldstein reached out to
16:58 Microsoft customer service to attempt to resolve her issues and filed a suit once
17:03 the company failed to resolve her problems. And you know what? This is
17:06 something that I've always been upset about. Why is it that Microsoft, a
17:11 company that charges
17:14 $110 to $180 depending on the addition that you
17:18 buy, why is it that a company that charges that much for their products
17:22 doesn't have to pick up a phone when you have a problem with it?
17:26 Can anyone else figure that out? Why is it that they just get to have like a a
17:30 support desk? At the tech shops that I've worked at, if someone's like
17:34 operating system is screwed up and we have to reinstall it and use a key and
17:37 the key that's on the side of their box doesn't work because it never freaking
17:41 works and you call them, they're just like, "Not our problem." Every time.
17:46 Like, what the hell? Did you know that
17:49 there are like the the discount for
17:52 system integrators is not as much as
17:56 you'd think? They actually still pay a significant amount of money for for
18:00 Microsoft Windows. So like the fact that they just get to kind of go nope nope
18:04 nope nope nope should be upsetting.
18:08 Yeah. Anyway, super frustrating. And then if you buy it yourself, they just
18:12 do the same thing. That Yep. I mean, I've had conversations
18:17 with Microsoft where I mean, a lot of you have probably noticed that in the
18:21 corner of a lot of our screen capture, all of our benchmarking systems, it
18:25 says, "This copy of Windows is not genuine." How on earth are we supposed
18:30 to be using a genuine copy of Windows on a benchmark machine? Every single time
18:33 hardware changes, it invalidates the key. I have spent literally hours
18:38 because it used to be that I would go to the trouble of calling in and
18:42 revalidating it every time that I changed a motherboard, for example.
18:46 Certain components it it it dislikes more than others. Graphics cards are
18:50 pretty good, but not always, too. And not always. I've changed a car a
18:55 graphics card and I've had it get pissed. Boom. So, so basically I used to
18:59 call in all the time and I got to the point where um one of my bench test
19:03 copies of Windows had been reactivated so many times they just refused to keep
19:06 doing it for me. And I'm like, "Well, what am I supposed to do? This is the
19:09 same computer." And they're like, "There's nothing we can do." I'm like, "Well, what am I supposed to do? My job
19:14 is to test hardware and change out the hardware on the machine. So, when I
19:19 change a motherboard, I am not changing the system. I'm just changing a
19:22 motherboard." It's like uh and they're like well there's no
19:27 solution like so I so I just so so what
19:30 I I can't I can't bet you understand there's an entire industry of like
19:35 people who have to test computers and you're basically just telling them all
19:39 to pirate Windows because I have literally no other choice. Actually I do
19:43 have another choice. So the reason that
19:46 that's always down there because if I was pirating Windows it wouldn't be
19:50 there. Yeah. The reason that's down there is because I'm just running within
19:54 the 30-day trial. So, we just have to reformat the machines periodically and
19:59 just not enter a product key. We just skip it. The reality of it is these are
20:03 not production machines and they're just for testing purposes of
20:09 keys. We also have like a shelf of keys just for laws. Just in case, you know
20:13 why? It's in case someone walks in here and is like then we can just be like
20:17 key. It's like Yeah. Like what? And I'm like, "Look, I didn't know what to do. I
20:21 talked to Microsoft support. They couldn't tell me what to do. So, I just bought like a pile of pro keys." Like,
20:26 fine. I don't know what to tell you anymore. Just look here. Here, pro keys.
20:32 Like, I don't know. I don't know the answer. It's not a small pile.
20:36 Um, so the $10,000 figure reflected the
20:40 estimated lost compensation. So, maybe
20:43 she was self-employed or something. Um, maybe as well as the cost of a new
20:46 system. They had to buy her a new computer. Wow. So, uh, they appealed the
20:51 initial judgment but dropped the appeal last month. That is hilarious. The the
20:56 problem I would have here is I didn't contact customer service and I just
20:59 fixed the problem immediately by myself. So, it took me like a couple hours and
21:04 then updates and then I was done. Well, they should have to pay you for the
21:08 training and experience and expertise that goes into having been able to fix
21:12 the problem. That's how life works. That's true. I mean, when you bring in a
21:16 plumber and it takes him 15 minutes to fix the problem, you're not paying him
21:20 for 15 minutes. You're paying him or her for the years of experience that they
21:25 bring into your house in order to fix it in 15 minutes. Speaking of or her, a
21:29 female plumber friend of mine just got engaged. Oh, really? Yeah. So,
21:34 congratulations to them. Not going to say names because I don't know, but
21:38 yeah, I'm not even joking. My dad taught her. Do I know
21:42 this person or uh I doubt it. I went to
21:45 high school with them. I don't think you've ever met them though. But yeah,
21:52 anyways, it was like yesterday or the day before. It was very recently. I
21:56 don't remember. On that positive note, I have more bad news. Um so we're on the
22:01 Tesla blog here, tesla motors.com. And
22:07 yeah, so you know what is the saddest
22:11 thing about this?
22:15 Every additional incident that happens from now on will get less and less
22:21 attention. Yeah. The only reason anyone's paying attention to this is
22:26 because it's the first. But, you know,
22:29 with that said, um Tesla is Tesla is kind of, you know,
22:35 being sympathetic while also protecting their own interests in their statement,
22:40 pointing out that in fact, um this
22:43 shouldn't have happened if the operator of the vehicle was following the
22:48 guidelines that they to be fair, they
22:51 didn't like push on that a ton. No, they didn't. But they did point it out. Yeah,
22:55 I think legally it was a responsible thing to to point that out. But in a
22:59 nutshell, they didn't try to make that the focus or anything, but yeah, the
23:03 autopilot sensors on a Model S failed to distinguish a white tractor trailer
23:08 crossing the highway against a bright sky. So Joshua Brown had put the Model S
23:14 in autopilot mode to control the car during highway driving. The car
23:18 attempted to drive full speed under the tractor trailer. It impacted the
23:22 windshield, veered off the road, crashed through two fences and into a power
23:25 pole. So, um Joshua Brown has passed
23:29 away. Uh the incident was disclosed by Tesla on Thursday night and happened on
23:34 May 7th actually in Willist, Florida. So, it actually took a little while for
23:38 them to start talking about this. They were probably looking into how it
23:43 happened and all that kind of Well, I think they wanted to know what the story is before they start talking about the
23:47 story. Otherwise you end up with you know widespread changing stories and all
23:51 this kind of stuff and you know how the internet loves to speculate. I mean the number of people who think
23:56 uh who was it I think like Google is
24:00 responsible for the uh the Twitter yeah that's not accurate thing that happened
24:04 with us. It is a company but it was not a thing. Yeah. Um just crazy. So, they
24:11 detailed in their statement that this is the first known autopilot death in 130
24:17 million miles driven by their customers. Uh, this isn't in my notes, so don't
24:21 quote me on the exact numbers, but I've got it here actually. Um, so among all
24:25 vehicles in the US, there's a fatality every 94 million miles compared to 130
24:31 that were in autopilot mode. So, they were quick to point out that they're still ahead. Yeah. And worldwide they fa
24:37 fatality approximation is at about 60 million miles. So that's not I don't
24:42 know how apples to apples that is though because I don't think Teslas are all
24:45 over the place in like Cambodia where people drive like they all just make up
24:51 their own rules as they go. Like I think the US but that's why it's lower, right?
24:56 Yeah. Yeah. Because the US comparison is more fair. Yeah. The 60 is not
25:00 specifically not a onetoone. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
25:03 Um, that's still
25:07 not like we're not trying to be like, "No, they did great." Like, uh, still
25:12 sort of sucks. Yeah, still sucks. Um, you know, there's still supposed to be
25:17 other sensors on the car that should have known that there was a very large
25:21 object actually in front of the car. Um,
25:24 but you know, Tesla is taking this opportunity to remind people, some of
25:29 whom have been posting very irresponsible videos to YouTube, even
25:33 like the guy sleeping. Yep. Of abusing their autopilot mode. Um, yo, it is an
25:39 assist feature that requires you to keep your hands on the steering wheel at all
25:43 times. You need to maintain control and responsibility for your vehicle while
25:47 using it. I'm just glad that it didn't carry them onto, you know, a pile of
25:52 school children or something like this could have been worse. Um, and it's a
25:57 really important opportunity for us to
26:00 remind ourselves that they are a two out
26:03 of four in terms of autonomous driving
26:06 standards. They are four is fully autonomous. They are not that they are
26:11 two. Um, keep your hands on the wheel.
26:14 Be prepared to take over at any time.
26:18 Um,
26:21 yeah. So, that's a drag. Um, you know what? Maybe now's the
26:26 time for a for a Twitter blitz
26:29 here. I want to hear from you guys. U
26:33 So, tweet at Lionus Tech on Twitter. Um, oh, I guess this is also a good
26:38 opportunity to tell you guys that the Linus Tech Twitter handle is actually
26:42 going to become the official Linus TechTips Twitter handle. And I'm gonna
26:45 be switching over to something else. Personally, it's sort of TBD, but it's
26:49 probably gonna be at Linus G. Sebastian. I couldn't get at Linus
26:52 Sebastian. Darn. Did you contact them? Um, I've tried to contact Atlinus
26:57 Sebastian before. I wasn't able to get through. So, the Oh crap. I need to uh
27:02 get in touch with the Atlinus TechTips guy. He's going to hand that over to us
27:05 as well. So, we have
27:12 atteing a bunch of spam. It was like a bot for a while. And then at Linus Tech
27:17 Tips is coming, but we're not going to switch the Linus Tech Tips cuz ideally I
27:22 would have liked at Linus Tech Tips to be the publication and at Linus TechTips
27:27 to be me. And theoretically, you could do that, but you lose your verified
27:31 check mark. So, I don't want to strip the company of its verified check mark.
27:35 Also, all of the Twitter handles in the
27:39 videos and under the videos would have to be replaced with the official one,
27:42 which is a real chore and I don't feel like doing it. So,
27:49 um, this vehicles, sorry, I'm just I'm
27:53 going to create a straw poll here as
27:58 well. Okay, so let's get that posted in
28:01 the Twitch chat. Want to hear from you guys. want to hear from you guys on Twitter. But basically the question is,
28:07 are you still comfortable with autonomous vehicles? And the answers are
28:11 yes, no, I never was. Or I mean, if you
28:17 want to hit us up on Twitter, then I guess you could say something a little bit, you know, more complex than that,
28:22 but still limited to 140 characters or whatever it
28:25 is. Uh, sorry, I just got to get us signed into Twitter. Do you want to jump
28:29 on to the next topic in the meantime? Then we'll come back to this, please. So, US Border Patrol could start asking
28:34 for your social media accounts. Now, to be clear, this is a um like when you're
28:40 filling out your I believe it's like your customs incoming form or whatever
28:45 the questionnaire thing that you fill out when you enter the country. I don't
28:48 think this is US border patrol as in driving over the border. I think this is
28:53 US border control uh control as in
28:56 flying into the country. Um, it would be added to both electronic
29:02 system for travel authorization and the
29:05 you have got to be kidding me. 94W. Oh, I still had my screen share on. Okay,
29:09 I'm going to have to deal with that immediately. Okay. All right. You should
29:14 do that very quickly. Um, anyways, gonna
29:18 keep uh talking.
29:25 Uh anyways, uh and it would be an optional field. So
29:31 you would have um the option to put it in or not. Uh I
29:37 don't necessarily think that this is the worst thing ever. One, it's optional.
29:40 Two, this would be what is currently I
29:44 don't know. See, it's kind of weird. This would be what is currently public
29:48 on your social media account. So, if you had things that you didn't want people
29:51 to see, you would theoretically have it uh posted in a private way. So, it's
29:56 probably not the end of the world. And you could have like
30:01 uh say you were a like cam girl or porn
30:06 star or something like that, maybe have your work account and your personal
30:11 account and give them your personal account when going over the border. I do
30:15 think it's a little bit weird for things like stalking. You go over the border,
30:18 someone thinks you're attractive, they give you have to give them all of your
30:22 information, including address and social
30:25 information. I don't know. I'm not entirely sure what the inspiration for
30:29 it is. Um, you could theoretically say like,
30:35 oh, like ISIS members and stuff have social media accounts, um, whatnot and
30:40 so forth, but I seriously doubt any of them would give that one. Like I just
30:45 said about the like if you're an adult star of some form, um, you would have a
30:50 work one and a nonwork one. I have a feeling someone who's as blatant as an
30:54 ISIS member with a Twitter account wouldn't put their ISIS affiliated
30:57 Twitter account on a travel
31:01 authorization form to go into the US
31:04 because that is just ridiculous. And
31:07 it's also an optional area. So yeah. Okay. Well, that
31:13 was potentially the end of the world but isn't. Yay.
31:19 Yay. If I could copy this, that would be
31:23 great. Jeez, I've had a bad enough week with that kind of crap going on. That's
31:28 the last thing.
31:32 Yeah. Yeah. No, I know. I No, no, it was much It was much worse than that,
31:35 actually. It was much much worse than just the password. Um, it was uh it was
31:41 that and a backup code. So it was like
31:44 so it was it was the password and the means to uh circumvent my two-factor
31:49 authentication. The best part is too I saw through my administratory stuff that
31:54 people were storing backup codes in that
31:57 and was literally going to bring it up in the Monday morning meeting next week
32:01 that people should not do that. Yeah. Well, there you go. There you go.
32:08 Um sorry, I'm just going to need a minute actually. Okay. Hey, no, I did
32:11 want to weigh in on that topic and I'm actually like I'm good now. That was uh
32:14 that was the only thing that showed up there and it's all it's all sort squared
32:17 away now. Ant Venom being a bro in chat was like you post pictures, you get
32:21 timed out, talk get
32:25 hit. So, uh when crossing the border,
32:29 like honestly, some of the easiest times
32:32 that I've ever had crossing the border have been when I explain who I am and
32:38 show them a video. Because like if I'm going down to attend uh a conference or
32:42 something like that, I'm like, "Yeah, I'm this guy. I make videos about tech on YouTube." And they're like, "Oh,
32:47 okay. So, you're you." Um
32:52 um you're going to want to figure that out immediately. Okay. Yeah, I'll figure
32:55 that out. Um so I have kind of the same thing. Someone will ask me what I'm
32:59 doing. I'm like, "Oh, I'm going for meetings." And like before they even ask
33:02 me like, "Uh, what kind of meetings?" cuz you know the border control guy is
33:06 just like I've had 10,000 people come through here today and I'm tired of
33:11 asking these questions every single time. So instead of just like vomiting
33:15 information at them because they also don't want that either and that makes you look super suspicious. I just have
33:19 my formulated obvious question ready.
33:23 I'm like I'm a YouTube person. I make YouTube videos. I'm going to visit a
33:26 hardware company because I make YouTube videos on hardware and I'm going down
33:29 there for meetings. Um, yeah, it's actually pretty
33:34 straightforward. So, for me, being able to show like here's my Twitter account,
33:38 which is for work, and here's the YouTube channel that we have. It's for
33:42 work, and here's my Facebook page. It's private.
33:47 So, there's my picture, I guess. Cool.
33:51 Um, actually, I don't have any problems with that at all. And one kind of cool
33:56 side effect of this could be that people are more wary about what they put
34:01 publicly on their social media cuz
34:05 man, some people aren't careful with that at all. Like
34:10 Dennis just posting dickpicks on Twitter
34:13 all the time. Yeah. Yes, he does. That's why his Twitter handle is Dennis is
34:18 hung. Yeah. Thought it was Denny is hung. Is it Denny is hung? Oh, it's
34:23 Denny's, huh? Ever so slightly different than that, as in Denny's,
34:27 the uh restaurant chain. Anyways,
34:32 uh talking about another thing that could be seen in either way, Apple has
34:36 granted a patent that can prevent iPhones from recording at concerts. I'm
34:40 going to post the 9 to5 Mac article in the chat so you guys can see it as well.
34:45 My immediate gut reaction is that uh
34:49 sorry, I should probably take this. It's my sister, which of Yep. Yep. What's
34:54 going on right now? I would also recommend going. Yeah. Um,
34:59 so I my immediate Come on, Dennis. My
35:03 immediate knee-jerk reaction is that I don't care at all because cell phone
35:06 recordings at shows are stupid. What we're talking about right now is Apple
35:10 has been granted a patent that can prevent iPhones from recording concerts.
35:15 Oh, what do you think? How How do they prevent that? I'm not in I actually have
35:20 no idea. One second. An infrared emitter can be located near an object and
35:25 generate infrared signals with encoded data that includes Oh, so up on stage or
35:31 something they would blast out infrared. Yeah, you like that. I I hate
35:35 people Snapchat entire concert. Yeah.
35:39 One thing once the Snapchat gets out you can't hear anyways because it's
35:43 just like Yeah. Yeah. Oh, if you Snapchat two story of this
35:48 concert is fine, but if you snatch an entire story,
35:52 that's not good. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you
35:55 can sit on the show if you want. Go ahead. Okay. Let's finish this topic. Um
36:01 I think I think this they have right they
36:05 have like copyright thing, right? You cannot record a lot of concert that you
36:10 are not allowed to record. Mhm. I don't know in here in Taiwan. That's and like
36:14 even outside of because I agree and that makes sense and if I was hosting a
36:19 concert I would want people to just go instead of just watching recording. So I
36:23 get that but even just like people standing there like this recording with
36:27 their phones being obnoxious and super annoying and like getting videos from
36:32 people that are like okay this is even even you recording when are you going to
36:36 look at it again? You're never going to watch that again. You can't hear the
36:40 music properly. like it's going to be blown out because all the lasers and
36:43 lights and crap. I don't mind they do that taking pictures or anything before
36:49 the concert actually start. I think still pictures are probably fine. Yeah.
36:53 But if you want just like one momento of like this is cool click or like selfie.
36:59 Yeah. Or something. But like no selfie stick though. No selfie stick. That's
37:04 That might be better cuz then your arms aren't way up in there. No, it's too annoying. It's very crowded and takes up
37:10 too much space. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I was thinking if they go like
37:13 straight up. No, even some place some places in Japan they b Yeah, they banned
37:19 Disneyland did too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's too dangerous.
37:22 Yeah. Um apparently there's more positive uses
37:27 for the technology as in museums.
37:32 Um Oh, that could be cool. So, museums
37:35 could use it in a different way. while you're trying to take a photo of something, they could display relevant
37:40 information about it. That's cool. That could be pretty sweet. Is that what's
37:45 Oh, okay. I'm not sure. It sounds like
37:48 there's too much potential for misuse, though. Cuz if they can display things
37:52 on the screen about what you're pointing the camera at in a museum, could someone
37:57 not use it to just put black over your screen so you can't see what you're
38:00 trying to film or record? You mean when they are in the museum?
38:04 No. Like as a civilian,
38:09 I feel like someone could use this to like Oh, to see your stuff to No, to
38:14 like block people from taking photos of different things when theoretically
38:18 you're allowed filming or taking photos of whatever you want on public property.
38:22 Someone could try to block you from doing so by using this exact same
38:26 technology. Am I being like way too tinfoil hady?
38:31 I don't know what you're talking IR blasting a license plate number. Yeah.
38:35 Like someone's saying if you had like the museum thing, right? Yeah. So, if I
38:39 try to take a photo of my wallet. Yeah.
38:42 I'm at the museum and my wallet is somehow important even though it's
38:46 really not. Um it it says on screen,
38:49 this was so and so's wallet. He he got it here and used it in the great battle
38:54 of buying things at Walmart. Um that's kind of interesting. Was it on Black
38:58 Friday? Probably. Yeah, that's funny and
39:02 relevant. Um, you could theor, if say
39:06 this is someone's license plate, they could have the same technology blasting
39:09 so that when you try to take a picture or video of their license plate, it's just black
39:13 or it covers your screen with something.
39:19 I could be way too tinfoily. That's probably I don't know that
39:23 situation, but I agree with that. Um they that's a
39:28 cool thing if they use that in a concert or
39:33 maybe some meeting submitting is like
39:38 um confidential. Okay. Maybe that would
39:42 be cool if people try to record things.
39:46 So like if we tried to do like a factory tour and if we have that technology in
39:50 our office no prank then no pranks.
39:55 I'm sure you'd appreciate that. Then you can't get Burkel back though. Oh, we can
39:59 do outside the office. Okay. Yeah. At
40:02 your house. Are you saying we can prank you at your house? No, I'm moving.
40:08 Oh, right. Actually, that's not funny. Um
40:14 Oh, do you know those channels uh mainly
40:18 in Asia where you can watch someone eat? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Stream. Twitch is
40:22 allowing that now. They banned that before. They're Yeah, they did. Before
40:27 um they didn't have a section for it. Twitch likes having a section for
40:31 different things. So, they now added a category called social eating. What? It
40:36 sits along other non-gaming categories like Twitch creative. Creative I've
40:41 actually used a fair amount. I don't know if I'm going to use social eating although people have commented that a
40:45 lot of times if I'm and a section called life or life. Yeah. What? Because social
40:51 eating is weird. What? I don't know what that term what does that term mean
40:55 social eating but the the the Asian
40:58 streams where they just eat on camera that's social eating. You're eating and
41:02 you're you're you're talking to the people that watch social media eating
41:05 eating show. Eating show. Yeah. Sure. I
41:09 mean if you can have a cooking show, you should be able to have an eating show, right? Yeah. But if you can eat, you can
41:15 also have a different washroom show. You
41:19 want a washroom show? I'm sure they have that because you this is what that's
41:23 your logic minus.
41:27 So you just you just took it to the next step when you get rid of the food. So
41:30 when you make the food when you consume the food and then you get rid of the food. Okay. But we know the full we know
41:34 that Twitch has um nudity guidelines. So
41:38 So if you were going to have a washroom show, it would have to be what? Like
41:42 neck up and just facial expressions. You can have your shirt on when you're on
41:46 the toilet. You can have your shirt on when you're on the toilet. So like so like like waist like medium just above.
41:52 Yeah. Here like right there. Okay. Oh, I think it
41:58 makes sense. No one's going to watch that. Is there any pretty sure someone
42:02 would watch that? Yeah, someone would. Is there any like obscenity problems? I
42:06 don't I don't think so. I mean, it's a natural thing. You know, going to the
42:11 bathroom is very natural. But okay, but sex is also natural. Sex is Well, it can
42:16 be pretty unnatural.
42:20 Oh, right.
42:23 Okay, fair. Speaking of speaking of Twitch
42:29 streams for going to the washroom, Android N is called Nougat. Um, Android
42:34 7.0 Nougat. Here, I'm going to jump in. Okay. Thank you, Dennis, because I got
42:37 to do our sponsor spots. Yes. Are we doing sponsor spots before
42:41 Nougat? Yes. First sponsors, then Nougat. Okay. All
42:46 right. So, the new site that you might get.
42:54 What? The new site that you might get. New get. Oh,
43:00 that's awful. Yeah. Uh, might be on Squarespace. They've got 24/7 support
43:05 via live chat and email. They feature responsive design in all of their
43:10 templates, which means your website looks great on any device. They've got
43:13 commerce built into every website, so you can create a free online store.
43:17 They've got their cover pages feature, which lets you have like a onepage
43:20 online presence. If you're a web 2.0 company and you think that more pages
43:25 isn't cool, personally not a fan, but if
43:28 you must have that kind of site, then I guess Squarespace can do that for you.
43:32 And they've got lots of other tools, too. everything from their easy inline
43:35 text editing to their just kind of move
43:38 things around, move pictures around interface to the fact that it's all
43:42 cloud-based and finally to their logo creator. And I'm sure there's a million
43:47 things that I'm not thinking of, but basically it makes it easy to make a
43:51 website. Your website will be uh reliable. The only time ours has gone
43:56 down was entirely caused by someone else, not Squarespace, that's for sure.
44:00 And technically, the site didn't go down. you just couldn't find it. That's
44:04 true. If you had gone to the IP directly, then that would have worked
44:09 just fine, actually, now that you bring that up. So, Squarespace did nothing
44:14 wrong. Nope. Um, you can start a trial with no credit card required and start
44:18 building your website today and everyone can now publish content in Apple News
44:22 format directly from their Squarespace blog, making it available to millions of
44:26 potential readers. No, I mean if if if
44:30 you're blogging about like your your washroom streaming show, then actually
44:37 there's probably millions of potential viewers for that. Okay, fine. So, when
44:41 you decide when you Oh, when
44:48 you everything is awful right now. Uh, when you decide to sign up for
44:52 Squarespace, make sure you use offer code WAN so you can save 10% on your
44:56 first purchase. Thanks to Squarespace for supporting the WAN Show. You should
45:01 keep doing it so we can build our show. Beautiful.
45:08 I like it. Nick's not here to yell at me anyway. Yeah. All right. way.
45:14 What have we got for our next uh next topic here?
45:19 Uh well uh Nougat, right? Android N. The
45:24 N word. Nougat. Yeah.
45:29 Uh the original article here is from Android
45:33 Police. Let's go ahead and Oh, you did
45:37 it. You beat me to the punch. I was going to I was going to do it. I was
45:40 just like I was in I'm not here with Luke because he's away last week mode
45:44 and and lots of other weeks. And lots of other weeks. Android N is now officially
45:48 Nougat. Yay. Um I really wanted them to
45:53 make it Namy McName face. Did you see about the one that got like voted the
45:57 most or something? I It just it they put it in like a teaser trailer and I was
46:02 like just do it. I know you do your candy thing, but like it's funny and it
46:07 it's cool. I actually think Nougat has got to be like the worst. It's pretty
46:12 boring. And do people even know what it is? Blocks.
46:18 Like do people even know what Nougat is? Like I know what Nougat is only because
46:21 I love Toblerones. That is the only reason I know what Nougat is. I know
46:26 what Nougat is probably because my mom
46:29 likes it. I believe someone that I know
46:32 has liked it a lot. I think it might have been my mom. It could have been someone else. I don't know. And Tlberons
46:37 are awesome. They're just too expensive. Yeah. So, Naimo Bar, what else? Well,
46:43 Naimo Bar, remember, I think that's sort of more relevant to us because we live
46:47 near like is is that the origin of Nimo Bar or is it a thing? Uh, I don't know
46:52 if that's the origin of Naimo bar or not, but I know it's not just a Canadian
46:55 thing. Like Naimo bars are they're pretty cool. Okay, let's find out the
47:00 origin because if it's like a local thing. Yeah. From Naimo, the name of a
47:04 city in the Canadian province of British Columbia. So, I don't think I think that's probably worse than Nougat. Okay.
47:08 Can we do a poll to see if people know what Naimo bars are? Sure. Because I
47:12 feel like they're Let's not say if they know what they are. Let's hit a poll if
47:17 they've tried one. Okay. Yeah, cool. I like that. Okay, that makes sense. Let's
47:21 do it. So, have you tried uh Nimo bar?
47:27 See, look. Spell check didn't even recognize it. That's not a good sign.
47:31 No. And don't worry, we are going to get back to that Twitter blitz. Uh hopefully
47:35 if we can find all of the I feel like it's a bigger It might not be. I could
47:40 definitely be wrong. Kind of lived here forever and
47:44 stuff. So, yeah. So, it's hard for us to really say, but let's go ahead and and
47:47 try and think of what some of the other uh I mean, there's not a lot of Wow.
47:54 Yeah. There you go. Get wrecked, son. All right. Cool. They're not very good,
47:58 quite frankly. I think they're gross. So, you're not really missing. They're
48:02 very strong. Yeah. My mom loves them.
48:05 Yeah. Absolutely loves them. Yeah. I I
48:08 think we just got told here that that the results are clear. All right. Thank
48:13 you, everyone. That's enough results. At the same time, how many like little pastry cake style thingyamajigs have
48:19 different people tried? Probably some, you know. Yeah.
48:25 Um, okay. So, let's go ahead. Like, what
48:29 what what were the other options here even? Because I I remember hearing
48:32 Nougat and I remember also hearing some ones that were better. Nerds. Oh, yeah.
48:38 That that's a that's a company thing. That's terrible. Uh, Nutroll. Ooh,
48:45 Nutella. Okay, I gotten behind Nutella. Isn't Nutella Is that a brand thing?
48:49 It's a brand thing, isn't it? It is, but Oh, they also did Kit Kat. Yeah, but
48:53 they did Kit Kat and they reached a deal with Nestle. This was one of the
48:56 suggestions. Android Nestle Crunch. Uh, this list is coming from Fandroid over
49:00 here. That's cheating. That's like saying that's like if it was H and it's
49:05 like Android Honda Civic.
49:10 No. Android Napoleon. Android Noodle
49:15 Pudding. GH Nish Tart. Android Nimo.
49:21 Yeah, they're all awful. They're just all terrible. Yeah. Android.
49:27 I'm on Wikipedia under list of desserts
49:30 and I'm going through all the different categories and looking what they have for N and there's not much. Oh, what's
49:36 that? Nonivot. I've never It sounds like another Canadian thing to be honest.
49:41 Nam Kangai. Yeah, that doesn't sound
49:45 Canadian unless it's like in Richmond.
49:50 Nuns Puffs. Wow. Nuns Puffs.
49:54 That nun nut roll. Yeah, nut roll. That
49:58 that one was there. Wow. Is N just not
50:02 like uh not very not a delicious sounding first letter or something? I
50:06 don't don't get it. Well, there you
50:11 go. Huh. Go figure. All right. Yeah,
50:15 there's like really not much. Let's go have a look at that uh let's go have a
50:19 look at that Twitter blitz that we were uh Oh, they probably should have came to
50:24 a
50:27 um agreement with Nutella.
50:32 Oh crap. Did you just do that again? No, no, no, no, no, no. There we go. Okay.
50:39 No, no, no, no. Sorry. I'm not I'm not
50:42 operating at It's all good. I just wanted to make sure you didn't do that
50:46 cuz if you did, I was going to be like, "All right, you need to blitz and fix it again
50:51 and I'll keep doing whatever." Um,
50:55 hold on. I need a minute. All good. Florida man, um, who at this point has
51:01 probably been in jail for an obscenely long time and owes a lot of money. Um,
51:05 has Florida Man. Florida Man. Yeah. You don't know that thing? No. There's a
51:09 subreddit called Florida Man. Okay. Well, whenever you hear like crazy
51:14 complete idiots, whenever you hear crazy news, it seems to be like Florida man
51:18 dies after threatening an alligator with a chocolate bar, like just like crazy
51:23 stuff. It seems to end with like or start with like Florida man. Oh, cuz
51:26 it's just like so it's not a specific from Florida, not Florida man. But how
51:31 the news does it Florida man blah blah blah. Anyways, Florida man sues Apple
51:36 for10 billion US. What? Says he invented
51:39 the iPhone in
51:43 1992. Uh yeah, there's a Gizmodo Gizmodo
51:47 article. There's also a comparison picture which is
51:51 fantastic. Um that is his drawing. Oh,
51:55 hold on. I gota I got to bring this up. Hold on. Hold on. Okay. Okay.
51:59 Sorry. Florida man. Florida man for 10
52:04 billion US dollars he wants. Okay, so
52:07 here's the comparison picture. Here we go. The iPhone according to Florida man.
52:14 The iPhone according to Apple.
52:18 So, I mean, at what point does Gene
52:23 Rodenberry start selling people or start suing people for inventing things
52:29 and like or George Lucas, I mean, when
52:32 someone releases a lightsaber, actually, you know what's
52:36 you know what's kind of crazy is Disney
52:39 probably would be on that.
52:42 What if someone created a lightsaber? Do you think Disney would try to claim that
52:47 they own all the applicable rights? Like a real life lightsaber? Yes. I feel like
52:52 if they tried to call it a lightsaber, then they'd have a problem. But creating
52:56 a a theoretical fantasy depiction of
52:59 something, I don't think gives you the rights to its actuality.
53:03 I think if that was a problem, but could they make the argument that it is so
53:08 culturally pervasive that the inspiration would have had to come from
53:14 Star Wars? I think once we got to the
53:17 point where we could make something that was like that powerful based on mostly
53:23 like light. I don't remember how it works in the Star Wars universe. What is it exactly? It's an crystals emitting
53:28 energy, right? Um, so it's a basically a laser, a crystalline thing that is
53:33 emitting energy which is somewhat like a laser, but only goes out a little bit
53:37 and has obscene amounts of power, but only goes to like a point that looks
53:41 like a sword. Once we get to the point that we can do that, I don't even know
53:45 if Star Wars will still be relevant. Or maybe it's all going to be like
53:50 galaxy quest all over again and we'll think that they're historical documents.
53:57 Yeah. rewatched that recently. Still very
54:01 good. I love Alan Rickman. I've actually heard that. Yeah. Oh man, that sucks.
54:07 Sorry. Um, anyways, I haven't rewatched
54:11 it in a long time, but I've heard from a lot of people that whenever they rewatch
54:15 Galaxy Quest, they're like, "Holy crap, this movie is awesome. It's still just
54:18 as good. It is equally relevant."
54:21 Um, yeah, it's it's not that often that you get a movie that that ages that well
54:27 because nerds are still exactly the
54:31 same as in 1994 or whenever that movie
54:35 came out. I think it was actually a little later than that. Quest
54:38 uh 2000. No, what couldn't have been 2008? That doesn't make any sense. Maybe
54:45 it came on DVD then. 1999. 1990. Wow, it
54:49 is pretty old. Holy crap. So, in 17
54:52 years, nerds have not progressed at all. Not to mention the movie was probably
54:56 being written a couple years before it was actually, you know, and then it went
55:00 through filming and editing. So, like in 20 years. Yeah. Yeah. Not not a thing. I
55:05 think you could say that. Um,
55:08 okay. Let's see. Wow. We've actually covered a lot of the a lot of the best
55:12 topics for today already. Um, oh yeah, the AMD RX 480 is a thing, but like we
55:17 have a video on that. So, so another thing to add to the Florida man thing,
55:22 um, yes, the US Patent and Trademark Office declared the application
55:26 abandoned in 1995. Oh, I've been screen
55:29 sharing for a while again. Great. I'm just really like not on my Did you do
55:33 anything crazy? I don't think so. Okay, cool. Um, so yeah, there was that. Um,
55:39 it also like if you scroll down a little bit, he had one where it's like
55:43 basically a book and it like closes.
55:47 Yeah. Okay. So, I think there's like writer and reader mode.
55:52 Okay. So, it looks more like microphone antenna speaker optional solar cells.
55:59 So, basically this is just like the scribblings of a of a dreamer. Yeah.
56:04 He's like, "What's a cool thing? I'm going to put it in here." Awesome. Three
56:09 and a half inch discat drive. How big is
56:13 it supposed to be? It's 5 in by 3 and How is he planning to put a 3 and what?
56:18 How's he planning to put a 3 and 1/2 in discet drive in a 5 and 1/2 in? And how
56:24 big is this? So that's three and 3/4 in. Rechargeable battery is here. That's
56:28 where the rechargeable battery is. Page forward is here. Uh numeric. So the
56:34 whole typewriter keyboard with a spacebar that big is in half an inch because it's 5 and a half inches, right?
56:38 No. Five and five inches to here by three and Oh yeah. No. Well, it looks
56:42 maybe an inch. Let's let's say an inch. Wow, it's really small. Okay. Features
56:48 each device 80386 SX processor 16 MHz 80 megabyte
56:54 hard drive writing device 160 megaby D
56:58 RAM reading device reading device options either A or B
57:06 uh calendar clock typewriter keyboard
57:11 magnetic latch that's a good idea oh more solar cells
57:16 Back lit LCD super twist display screen
57:19 monochrome or color. Okay. All right. Okay. Okay.
57:27 Okay. Well, good luck with that,
57:32 buddy. Good old Florida, man. You know,
57:35 it would be kind of fun if the iPhone had an 80 megabyte hard drive and 2
57:40 megabytes of RAM and a 16 megahertz processor. That
57:46 sounds like the iPhone. Uh, what's the next topic? I
57:53 don't know. I don't really know if I see much much else here. Oh, uh, this is
57:57 just a quick one. Samsung has a 1 terbte
58:01 M.2 NVMe SSD. the
58:06 SM961. So, right now it's an SM961. So,
58:10 that's an OEM OEM product. Tom's Hardware has a review up, but it is
58:15 speculated that this would be uh this will be rebadged as some kind of a of a
58:20 some 9 something Pro at some point here.
58:24 So, maybe a 960 Pro or something along those lines. Very very
58:30 interesting. It's like wicked fast. like what what one one terabyte at 512 bucks
58:37 and 512 gigs at 280 bucks is pretty
58:41 cool. That's pretty cool. I mean one honestly 480 gigs to 512 gigs is the SSD
58:48 size where I really don't feel limited by it anymore. Yeah. Um I'm pretty
58:53 comfortable with 256 still unless it's a
58:56 gaming machine. Um, but if it's a gaming machine, I want my 500. I want my 500
59:01 gigs, but one terabyte is at the point where I feel like I can be like a data
59:05 packrat and I don't really have to clean up any after myself anymore. Yep. Not qu
59:09 with the amount of I have a NAS. Yeah. My only thing is you said gaming
59:14 machine and game load times can still be
59:17 nicer. Yeah, but I don't mind putting a
59:21 games that aren't important like Lego Batman is on a hard drive. Yeah. Yeah.
59:26 just have a couple Steam libraries. There's no real reason not to do that.
59:29 It's very easy. Actually, I made a video on it. I think it just came out. It's
59:33 SSD hard drive optimization thing. It's really easy to have Steam have different
59:38 save locations and it'll ask you every time. And it's it's actually really
59:42 nice. Um there's where is it? Uh Activision
59:47 issues DMCA takedown against developers of Orion Prelude. And then there's
59:53 comparison images in there that you got to check out. I'll post the Steam
59:56 article, but check out the comparison images here. I think the bottom one
60:01 might be the best. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
60:06 yeah. Um, yeah. Wait, sorry. So, this is
60:12 supposed to prove Yeah, that Orion ripped off Black Ops. Yeah.
60:20 So, uh, apparently it was taken down
60:23 from the Steam stores due to the DMCA request. It is now back in the Steam
60:28 stores. Um, the official quote says, "On
60:31 behalf of Activision, who alleges that the game Orion used weapon art content
60:35 from Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. The weapon art
60:40 in question includes the M8 A7 rifle,
60:43 the Haymaker rifle, and the BAL 27
60:46 rifle.
60:54 What? Uh, the developers of Orion Prelude were not contacted or notified
60:58 before their game was removed from Steam at all. Wow, that's pretty
61:05 brutal. Um, a Reddit post on RPC Master
61:09 Race goes into how the DMCA claim may be legitimate. And apparently some of the
61:13 main uh points address that parts of the
61:16 3D models are apparently exactly the same. So if you click on that one um
61:23 yeah, let me bring up the uh the thingaboo here.
61:32 That is actually a more interesting look at it because that's actually how you
61:35 hold the gun in the game. So the images that were given up were of side isolated
61:40 models that you don't really see in the game. Mhm. This is more when you're holding the firearm.
61:46 At the same time, the red dot site is more telling
61:51 to me than the iron sight because like the little area with the lights on it uh
61:59 here and here. Yeah. Are actually just
62:03 like a button panel. Mhm. And that could
62:06 be taken from some other gun. I'm not sure. Um, and iron sights are pretty
62:11 generic. And the side of that gun looks pretty generic. Um, the red dot site on
62:17 the right, which they can't see. I'm sorry
62:20 about that. Oh, sorry. Um, also
62:23 looks a little generic, but I kind of
62:26 see where they're probably coming from.
62:30 Mhm. Okay. All right. Well, we'll see how this plays
62:33 out. I'm not going to be the uh I'm not going to be the judge on this one. Yeah.
62:38 I don't really know. I don't know how that legally plays in. I think we'd both
62:41 need to know a lot more about different rifles. Like if that red dot site was
62:45 taken from like something in real life, then who cares, right? Uh there's more
62:52 rumors. So, original article here is Nintendo Inquirer.com. More rumors that
62:56 the NX will be cartridgebased. Wow. Blast from the
63:02 past. Possibly a good move to be perfectly honest. I think that's kind of
63:06 cool. I might be the weird one there. I mean, I I don't see I've been wondering
63:10 why media doesn't come on SD cards for a
63:14 long time. Like a really long time. Well, not I've been wondering. I
63:18 understand why. It's because they're cheap. It's because the companies that
63:22 sell this stuff to us don't want to spend another, you know, 82 cents on uh
63:27 on the media that they're giving us. They'd rather have something that costs
63:31 82 cents less, a disc. Um, but basically
63:35 in the final months before it's formally unveiled, blah blah blah blah blah blah.
63:39 Admitted hoaxes, etc., etc., etc., but there's been, it looks like a trademark
63:44 app. Um, hold on. So, NeoAF user
63:48 Athereos noticed something in Nintendo US's trademark for The Legend of Zelda:
63:52 Breath of the Wild. User goods and services section. Both video game discs
63:56 and video game cartridges are listed.
63:59 This contrasts with other Wii U software trademarks. So, it could be Nintendo's
64:05 just updating their verbiage so that they can use the same thing for our
64:08 portable games, which already use cartridges and um full-size console
64:13 games. But I choose to believe that we're going to have a cartridge-based
64:17 console again. That would be cool. Which would mean Nintendo only ever had three
64:22 disc based consoles then.
64:25 Yeah. Uh then again, so has Sony for that matter. So has
64:30 Microsoft. So there you go. Right. the GameCube. I always forget about the
64:34 GameCube. Yeah, the Gamecube was a thing. Just because no one cared.
64:37 Doesn't mean that it wasn't a thing. It's the I didn't have an NES when I was
64:41 a kid. Um I had friends that had them. We just didn't have one. So, I had a SNS
64:45 and N64. Then I never had a GameCube. And then I like very luckily got a Wii
64:51 pretty early on. And then I have my Wii U. So, I just completely skipped that
64:55 whole segment. All right, let's go ahead and uh fire up Twitter over there. I
65:00 don't even know if it Yeah, it's not really set up anymore. We don't really
65:04 use it that often. Let's just go ahead and boopity. Right about there.
65:08 Ohippity. Oh, that did not work. Oh,
65:12 that was supposed to work. Uh, add
65:16 screen capture.
65:22 Um, okay. Let's see if that works this.
65:26 No. Okay. Okay. Well, then I will just I will just read tweets. Um oh, uh I've
65:32 had this problem before. I I think it might be that browser. Um but what you
65:38 do is minimize the browser, highlight the area where it is, bring the browser
65:42 back up, and it works. What a chore. I know. It's super
65:47 annoying. I don't know if it's exploit or if it's the browser or what. Kind of
65:51 guess it's like thereish.
65:57 Oh yeah, this is my pain. I had to do it
66:02 during the charity stream that I did. Was super annoying.
66:10 Good enough. All right, there you go. Uh, bring back Dennis. Cheer up you two.
66:16 You're both so down today. Well, we both had kind of rough weeks. Uh, Twitchbot
66:20 is timing everyone out for using the uptime command. Is this intentional? I
66:24 don't know. I wanted Nutella. Hail poodles. Uh, I'm just glad
66:30 the media didn't make as big of a deal as it as they usually
66:34 do. Um, I think there's still time for
66:37 them to do
66:41 that. You need some tech tips. JK just
66:45 did a little love W show. Oh, we've got people commenting on
66:50 my uh on my leak there. That's okay. All
66:54 that information is completely out of date now, which is really good. Yep. Yay
66:58 for doing things quickly. Whoa. You get over the border easily.
67:03 What? Um, still safer
67:07 than 100% people on the road. Yep. So,
67:11 that's a good point. Oh, yeah. So, a lot of Oh, I don't like autopilot. I like to
67:17 drive by myself. All right. Yeah.
67:21 Yeah. See, James says, "My uncle's Model S tells you to constantly keep your
67:24 hands on the wheel." Yeah, that's what it's supposed to do. Time magnets. How
67:28 do they work? Would you consider buying an autonomous
67:32 car and Yeah. No, I would. Too expensive. Well, okay. Right. Other than
67:37 that, I would consider it.
67:40 Fair. I Yes. Okay. I would as well. And then I would go, it is too expensive.
67:44 And then I would stop considering it. Okay. Let's bring up the uh let's bring up the straw poll results since it seems
67:49 like that pretty much tells us the answer
67:53 here. 74% of you are still comfortable
67:56 with autonomous vehicles in spite of the death. Well, you're talking to nerds. Um
68:01 nerds are probably done with math. I prefer to call them a techsavvy
68:06 audience. Nerd. I know. I think it's okay when you call
68:11 yourself the thing. Anyways, um they're probably more down with numbers and
68:15 statistics and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah and they're seeing
68:19 mathematically it is better. So they're going okay mathematically it's better
68:24 until we have a bigger sample size and maybe it's not better anymore. That's
68:27 also true. I mean we could have another death tomorrow and all of a sudden that
68:31 would make it uh sign as much worse than
68:36 people operating vehicles as now it is better. And there's also the thing that
68:41 I've been seeing from the start. Yeah. Um, which is what I'm afraid of is
68:47 uh it potentially going haywire instead
68:50 of just not detecting something, driving through it and crashing, right? It going
68:54 nuts. Um, that's scary because a human driver
69:04 unless can Yeah, they can they can go haywire. Unless malicious isn't going to
69:08 like if they crash into something I don't know like cuz that's
69:14 going to cause the big the big media problem. Oh, like if one just spazzes
69:20 out on one decides between the driver's life and the pedestrian's life
69:25 when there's a valid problem there which is if someone goes nuts and drives over
69:31 a bunch of people Yeah. you put them in jail. Yeah. If an AI goes nuts and
69:36 drives over a bunch of people, you go, "Oh my god, this thing is installed in
69:39 everything." Yeah. What do we do? Yeah. And that's a valid question.
69:45 All right. So, thank you guys for tuning in to the WAN Show. We hope you enjoyed
69:49 the show as much as we did this week. Actually, it was kind of a nice distraction today. Um although actually
69:55 for a lot of today, I was working on a really cool project. Uh, I am calling
70:00 this project the most comfortable gaming
70:03 setup ever. And Luke thought I was like,
70:07 what what did you think I was doing with this? Uh, I thought he was trolling. I I
70:11 I thought that you were uh How much can
70:15 I describe it? Um, I haven't disclosed
70:18 what makes it comfortable yet. I have So
70:21 here, so I have tweeted uh pictures of
70:24 the room. Okay. So I've tweeted like this. So that room is really small. I've
70:29 been in there. I've tried to stand in there, etc., etc. It's small and like
70:34 kind of cramped. Yeah, exactly. So I've
70:37 I've experienced the room. So when he says the most comfortable gaming room
70:42 ever, and I know the the back cramping
70:45 that I had to do in order to get in there, my mind is going he's going to
70:48 shove a whole bunch of tech in there because he's told me what he's shoving in there and it's going to be way too
70:52 much. He's going to be cramped and he's going to make like a funny video about
70:55 how he just had to have all these things so he made it work. That's what I
70:59 thought the plan was. I thought it was going to be a funny video. No, it's
71:03 going to be a badass video. Yeah. All right. So, we will see you guys again
71:07 next week. Same bad time, same bad channel. Thank you very much for
71:11 watching. I don't know what that means. Oh, the
71:14 intro. The intro. Oh,
71:18 Canada, our true north's native stream.
71:22 Can you find out what he's talking
71:35 about?
71:39 Squarespace. You should
