0:00 today's video was actually inspired by one of our forum members because people
0:05 like to watch stuff get thrown at you so thanks stab your face for recommending
0:10 that we do the amazon basics thing again with monoprice stuff stab your face
0:14 that's the username well no it's only two words it's stab your face
0:17 got it and what is this look at that spoilers you'll find out soon enough
0:24 and this model price gaming adventure is brought to you by storyblocks well house
0:29 expecting you to say can't tell you that's a spoiler too storyblocks video
0:32 offers you studio quality stock video clips for a fraction of the price check
0:36 them out at the link in the video description
0:48 so the premise is pretty simple yet again we basically
0:52 went on a monoprice shopping spree
0:56 not because they paid us or we even particularly like those guys to be
0:59 perfectly frank with you i don't slide it too much
1:03 whoa whoa it doesn't have doesn't have any feet on the bottom so this thing
1:08 will screw up your desk wow and potentially your day
1:12 jeez you you know you've as you get that
1:17 so obviously this is a dual monitor stand yeah
1:20 if you somehow want to put your dual monitors vertically
1:24 okay so what are the specs of this puppy this is a 2560 by 1440p 144 hertz
1:30 freesync mode 44 hertz yes not bad it also has some kind of quantum
1:36 dots okay and i tested the colors and they're actually pretty good over 99
1:40 coverage of srgb okay and how much do we pay for one of these 400 bucks
1:45 so this was the 36 dollar mechanical feel keyboard yeah which didn't impress
1:50 us much city so it's a 10 keyless
1:55 and it uses otemu brown switches
1:58 how much do i pay for the privilege of a temu browns two dollars more than that
2:02 one 38 dollars total and even though this one has the double shot injected
2:07 keys that light can shine through yeah it's there's no backlight it's not RGB
2:12 and this amazon one is RGB do you hear that backspace when i hit it the key
2:16 stabilization is so bad hold on
2:26 i'd take this i'd give up my number pad i'd give up my
2:30 back lighting i'd give up my macro keys but then i type more than i game
2:36 and when it comes to just wasding around back when i used to game a lot
2:41 honestly i used membrane keyboard anyway so yeah but now you have taste
2:46 wow it doesn't have a forward button please
2:49 tell me this is programmable i saw a lot of reviews saying it's not you know what
2:53 this thing sucks and i hate it one thing it has
2:56 is weight you can change the weight although it says push it actually means
3:00 pull or push on this this is actually a
3:04 cylinder stack of little weight tuning discs
3:09 holy crap brand and check this out
3:13 so my gut feeling on the uh
3:17 the pixel response time motion blur
3:20 look at the trails behind the banner on the LTT website as i move it around that
3:24 is disgusting wow
3:28 see that i thought it was like an important
3:31 parallax effect of the website no
3:36 that is horrendous i've never seen that in my life
3:39 so that's what happens when you take
3:42 a panel that doesn't have adequate pixel response times for the refresh rate
3:47 you're running and just overclock the snot out of the refresh rate the worst
3:51 part we aren't even at 144 hertz yet but
3:54 this is one of those examples of monitor specs being misleading it's like yeah
3:59 144 it's get your gaming gaming
4:02 this is not going to be an amazing gaming experience what keep hitting me
4:06 oh right so their bread and butter is cables yeah so here we have we own so
4:11 many modern price tables this is a monoprice displayport cable
4:16 them way too much money this is an amazon basics displayport
4:21 cable
4:24 the monoprice one better be cheaper because this is a really old housing
4:28 style with the uh the button lock
4:31 this is the one that we had already we didn't just buy this we didn't just oh
4:34 this could be older oh remember how on the amazon video you're
4:39 like why did you buy this we have a million of these
4:42 yes well now i see how it was not
4:46 necessarily better to do it the other way thank you james for
4:50 illuminating that for me so there's two types this is the ultra
4:53 slim one that's four feet for ten dollars
4:57 and this one is the premium one which is six feet
5:01 for 650. premium is
5:04 cheaper than ultraslim right that's probably just because yeah
5:08 this is cheaper to manufacture or you can get a nice braided one from
5:13 amazon basics six feet for eight dollars
5:16 i like the slim one really lightweight and it actually makes
5:20 no difference for a digital signal to have a premium cable that's thicker or
5:24 braided or whatever else having this nice lightweight wire much easier to
5:28 manage super flexible too i like this one monoprice is actually fairly well
5:33 known for their headphones headsets at least
5:36 that's my understanding so these are their 90 dollar active noise cancelling
5:42 gaming headphones interesting
5:47 let's have the unboxing experience here my friends you can put your uh name tag
5:51 in here put like a business card in there so someone could wait what
5:56 is there actually a spot to put it oh yeah there we go it goes in from this
6:00 side okay oh but you can take it out if you want
6:04 so if nothing else you've got a hook and loop business card
6:09 holder even if the headphones are complete garbage and you hate them so
6:13 you've got these in-line controls and i like that it's got that soft touch
6:16 finish yeah they would have done well to put the same finish on the mouse these
6:21 buttons are very rudimentary buttons these are these are cheap buttons
6:25 so they're usb to power the active noise cancelling but audio is actually handled
6:29 via analog is that correct that's what it looks like oh that's an unfortunate
6:33 position for the inline control this thing is heavy
6:37 whoa these are clampy yes no length
6:40 adjustment on the microphone you know what i actually kind of like the bit of
6:45 resistance to the articulation of the ear cups though because it means that
6:48 they're not constantly like fighting you and that active noise cancelling is
6:52 basically just like someone going
6:57 in your ear you're trading hvac for a hiss
7:01 well if you don't like the 90 premium ones you'll love the 30 or i
7:06 should say 28 worse ones oh wow these are
7:11 these barely even have padding in the top they're probably better than what i
7:15 was using for 28 bucks back when i was like first getting into gaming
7:19 but this is one of those things where i'd really recommend saving up or
7:24 waiting for a black friday promotion or something in
7:27 our cheap gaming headset roundup there were
7:30 other sets for 25 dollars that were better they're done they're done i'm
7:35 giving these a recommendation over these
7:39 because for ninety dollars you can get some pretty good stuff
7:43 whereas for like 30 bucks yeah you can certainly get stuff that's a lot better
7:47 than this but like
7:50 yeah i don't recommend either
7:54 none of what i just did is should be construed as an endorsement
7:58 this is the monoprice desk cover modesty panel with wire
8:02 management you know your desk you're very privileged there's a wall there but some
8:07 people might have you know other colleagues desk cover
8:10 modesty panel so you can man spread without your privates exposed on kilt
8:16 day so what the idea is you hang this off
8:19 the back of your desk with these clips you actually screw this onto your desk
8:24 and then you just take your excess cable and just like
8:28 put it in your pocket here well i think you run it this way
8:33 and there's these little velcros that you could
8:36 tie it in there with see that
8:41 28 bucks 28 bucks
8:45 yeah if it was me i'd probably just get a tablecloth or like
8:50 would you believe it has no reviews on amazon yeah i would personally i think it's
8:55 great if you're the type to uh stick your boogers to the bottom side of your
8:59 desk david ratcliffe how else can monoprice
9:02 improve my gaming experience today gaming i don't know but they have
9:07 other verticals that they specialize in like smart home stuff with their stitch
9:11 line oh interesting what appears to be nintendo switch joy-cons so this is a
9:16 door window sensor when it gets opened it'll make an audible beep
9:21 but apparently it's not that loud but in addition you'll also get a notification
9:25 your phone no matter where you are in the world because it's wi-fi not just
9:28 bluetooth so really today's theme is not home security though in home automation
9:33 it's like your desk set up right so the way that i see it you got something
9:38 really you know valuable in this drawer here or something wait let's put
9:42 something valuable in that drawer yeah so if i were to
9:45 come in here and steal yours hey
9:53 oh there it is
10:00 hey let's see if i can get a tamper alarm pull off the big one sure
10:06 hey you tampering with my stuff
10:12 oh you are tampering
10:15 nice that's not a bad delay either bad boy i probably should have given you this
10:20 earlier this is the monoprice 5 port 10 100
10:26 1000 megabit per second unmanaged gigabit Ethernet switch for 18
10:32 that's not even a great price actually hey man it's got five ports even though
10:37 the product page says eight um
10:44 and this has the fakest review ever it says
10:47 works great i love all monoprice products i buy and
10:51 they stand behind the quality look i'm not saying i'm too good to wear a
10:55 headlamp i'm definitely not too good to wear a headlamp i'm just saying you got
10:58 to have the top one because these straps wear out and that's what will actually
11:02 hold it in place now with that said this seems pretty alright yeah so you
11:07 can get a tp-link switch with a metal housing for 14.99 with prime this thing
11:12 is done it's done it's not it's out it's
11:16 out it's done you don't blow you just hum
11:19 no other way other way
11:25 why the hell do they have this because they sell music stuff
11:31 i know you're gonna do i should
11:36 i should have just bought the 150 guitar
11:41 well i'll be keeping that in my high security drawer unless anyone tried to
11:44 steal it from me that's a bargain to eight dollars and 26 cents although keep
11:48 in mind 22 percent of people gave it a one star
11:51 for not working at all so for 65
11:54 i got us you know james i think you're really stretching
11:59 the definition of desk accessories here what are you
12:02 talking about this is diy phone case
12:07 dude i'm making a screen protector right now shut up i figured we're not we're
12:11 going to vacuum seal your phone all right where's the vacuum sealed vacuum sleeve
12:15 oh yeah baby isn't this the vacuumer
12:20 this is an accessory hose
12:27 seems pretty sealed i think you just hit the release buttons now
12:34 can you use it oh yeah sure oh hell yeah
12:39 hold on let's see if my fingerprint sensor works
12:42 no hold on no maybe if i
12:45 okay nope no fingerprint sensor let's try the
12:48 iris scan come on baby can you work through that
12:55 come on work with me here
12:58 no match can you please keep your phone in there
13:01 until the end of the day but i can use it can you keep it in this your rancho
13:04 no come on please no i'm not doing that i mean how am i supposed to put in your
13:08 hoodie okay that's awesome look it's a quick release
13:12 so overall then you know what i'm uh
13:16 actually kind of disappointed so do you
13:20 so does that mean that you don't think that monoprice is clearly better than
13:23 amazon basics no i i really don't think i would say
13:27 that at all i think they come out ahead on the keyboard even though these
13:30 switches are really inconsistent feeling um
13:35 but i just the mouse isn't great the mouse pad's
13:39 alright i think i'd have a pretty hard time recommending this monitor
13:44 uh it's just nothing special
13:48 stick to cables monoprice yeah good cables monoprice
13:53 good cables and uh i mean this thing seems all right too i
