0:00 Linus TechTips coverage of Computex 2013 is powered by Western Digital. Our
0:04 trusted gaming gear partner is Corsair Vengeance and our trusted retail partner
0:08 is
0:11 ncx.com. So, you've got three guesses as to which booth we're in at Computex
0:16 right now. And the first two don't count because this right here is one gigantic
0:22 computer mouse. This is the Funk MS3 and
0:25 it is designed for giants who need mice
0:30 that are actually made of foam and don't actually work. No, really. This is just a prop. And what they're actually
0:34 showing off is not the MS3. The MS3 is the product that's in the market now.
0:38 And they are expanding the gaming product lineup to include some pretty
0:42 cool new stuff over here. So, right here we've got the KB 460. Um, you know,
0:47 Funk's really uh sort of really creative about the way that they use numbers to,
0:53 you know, name their products. KB obviously stands for uh cone brilliance
0:59 where the uh the cone is spelled with a K. No, actually it's keyboard. So MS for
1:03 mouse, you know, uh keyboard for games. Okay, so this right here is a mechanical
1:08 gaming keyboard. It features Cherry MX red switches. It's got a braided cable.
1:12 It's got a built-in USB hub. So you got a couple of ports there. It also has
1:17 some software functionality that goes into it. So you've got five different
1:21 profiles which are accessible over here with the F7 to F11 keys. You've got
1:26 built-in media keys that are accessed with a function command as well as a
1:31 Okay. Well, you're going to notice a pretty non-standard layout here, but don't worry about that because the North
1:35 American model will have sort of full size shift keys, fulls size enter keys.
1:39 It does have a red backlight and you can also see it has a red back plate that
1:44 really makes that light more vibrant and really really glow. Next thing is the
1:49 detachable wrist rest. Now, if you're anything like me, you've probably broken
1:52 at least a few of these at some point in your life. Now, Funk's goal was to make
1:57 the wrist rest as simple as possible in the way it attaches, meaning that it
2:02 shouldn't break. So, we're going to go ahead and turn this around. The mechanism is actually not here yet, but
2:06 they assure me it shouldn't break. And if it does break, the idea is they will
2:10 just ship you a new one. No big deal. They'll take care of it. Couple days
2:14 later, you will be back to having your wrist rest permanently attached to your
2:17 keyboard. Next up over here, we have a couple of Funk mouse pads. So, these are
2:22 the F-S series 10L and 10 XL. They're basically using a similar surface to
2:26 what we've got on their existing products, except that they are flexible.
2:29 They are single-sided, so they have a rubberized grip, so they don't move around too much while you're trying to
2:33 move them. And obviously they are optimized for use with the MS3 gaming
2:36 mouse. It glides very nicely over top of them. You get that hockey puck effect.
2:40 There we go. And finally, the HS260.
2:43 This is not a finished sample, but I'll go through the general specs of it.
2:47 Anyway, it's got 50 mm drivers. It's got some of the softest, biggest cushions
2:52 that I think I've ever seen on a headset before. It has, you know, your
2:56 adjustable sizing. It's got I'm going to have a problem here because I can only
3:01 hold this microphone with one hand. Can I get you to hold this microphone for me, sir? Thank you very much. Okay, so
3:05 here we go. I can put this on my head now and don't have to keep stalling for time. Very plush ear cups. There we go.
3:11 You've got your size adjustment just like that. So, you can put it on like
3:16 sort of, you know, like you got like a huge head or something like that. Now, I have two
3:19 microphones. All right. Now, where does the functionality come in? Because
3:23 that's what funk stands for. Functionality perfected. I'm just going to show you the functionality. So,
3:26 number one, you can remove the mic. All right. That's cool. We've seen this before. Personally, I'm more excited
3:31 about the fact that the mic is like this. Well, I mean, I don't want to put
3:34 it here, but I'm more excited about the fact that the mic is pretty much
3:38 infinitely adjustable because often boom mics end up out here for me, which means
3:42 you spit into them a lot and there's a lot of hissing that comes with with S's,
3:46 Sises, and things like that. So, if you can put it right here in the corner of
3:49 your mouth where it's actually optimal, you're going to get a better experience
3:52 for the person on the other end. The next thing is the removable cable. And
3:56 removable cables aren't exactly new, but look at this one.
4:00 There is absolutely nothing exceptional about that cable that that is a standard
4:05 standard headphone jack cable and that's why I like it because it is completely
4:10 standard. You do not have to worry about any kind of proprietary nonsense if your
4:15 cat chews through your cable like what happened to my PC 350s or if you lose
4:19 your cable like I've probably done with something at some point but my memor is
4:23 failing me right now. Now the other thing is you can actually switch these
4:26 around. So you can switch this over here. You can switch this over here if
4:29 you feel like it. The microphone itself has a mute button built into the bottom
4:33 of it. And the headphone left ear cup or
4:36 right ear cup or wherever you want to put it, I guess, has a built-in volume
4:40 control knob as well. Now, this is not a finished sample, like I said, so your
4:45 finished product may vary, but stay tuned because the HS2 likes looks like
4:49 it's going to be pretty sweet. Guys, don't miss any of our Computex 2013
4:54 coverage. We are powered here at the show by Western Digital as well as Corsair Vengeance Gaming peripherals.
4:58 Sorry about that, but dense the brakes as well as ncx.com. Make sure you're
5:03 subscribed to Linus Tech Tips so you catch all of it.
