So, at long last, we are finally doing something that we haven't done before.
0:05
We are revealing the identity of the cameraman. It's this guy. No, I'm
0:10
kidding. Actually, we're getting a microphone for NCX Tech Tips. We're
0:15
getting a proper microphone that isn't a little uh weird like twinky thing that I
0:21
clip to my uh clip to my shirt. This is
0:24
a proper lapel mic from Sennheiser. It's the
0:29
EW112P and it is a clip-on microphone,
0:32
condenser, omniirectional. Okay. So, Oh, okay. Yeah. It includes a receiver, a
0:36
body pack transmitter, as well as a clip-on mic. It runs off four AA
0:40
batteries, and it has output cables, 3.5
0:43
mm jack, and XLR. I actually don't know
0:47
all the details of this. Uh the cameraman helped me pick something
0:51
because he is kind of the expert on all of this stuff. But uh we have the G the
0:57
PG3. So PG3 here. So we have a setup
1:00
that looks like this. So that's what why don't we just open it? Let's just open
1:03
it. Forget this. It doesn't even come sealed. I was very surprised for a a
1:08
microphone system that retails for $900.
1:11
I had expected it to like I don't know have shrink wrap on it or
1:16
something. But uh okay, here we go. Wow,
1:19
that is a heck of an instruction manual. I hope this is in a lot of languages.
1:23
Yes, it is. Okay, so the languages are
1:26
available are nine. And let's see how long the English section Oh, that's not
1:31
too bad. Okay, cuz I was going to say like an instruction manual this long for
1:34
how to plug in a microphone. That would be pretty bad. Okay, so I don't know.
1:40
This isn't English. English is the second language in there. Oh yeah, Sennheiser. Of course, it's German
1:44
first. Okay, next thing. Additional information.
1:48
Okay, some more additional information in
1:51
German. And here it is, our expensive
1:56
new microphone system. So, I'll have to figure out what
2:01
everything in here does. This appears to be a
2:05
box. Inside, we probably put some
2:09
batteries. Okay. See if I can figure this out. Yeah. Hey, batteries. There
2:14
they go. Okay. So, the batteries go in this way and then that way. So, this is
2:19
either the transmitter or the receiver. They both look the same. So, Oh, no. No,
2:23
they're not the same. Okay. Okay. I got it. I got it. I got it. I'm on
2:27
this. See, computer stuff unboxing is a
2:30
lot more comfortable for me because I already know most of this stuff and I
2:34
don't actually have to try to learn on camera because learning on camera is
2:38
very difficult. So, uh, okay. Here. So, this one is the transmitter because the
2:43
mic line is here. I can also mute it or I guess the cameraman could run up and
2:48
mute me if he felt like being a jerk. And uh then we've also got the
2:53
microphone itself which is here. So,
2:56
this is what I'll be using now instead of that horrible thing. Uh there's a
3:00
little clip as well as a little a little
3:04
cute little cover for the microphone. I wish I had a knife. Oh. Oh, wait. I do
3:08
have a knife. Oh, yeah. I have another thing to reveal in this unboxing. I have
3:11
a new toy. I have a knife on my keychain
3:15
now. Look at that. I got it at House of Knives. Probably spent way too much for
3:19
it there, but it was kind of an impulse buy. I was like, "Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
3:24
House of Knives. I need a knife." So, I went in and I got the knife. Okay, there
3:27
we go. So, I got a little cover for the uh for the microphone. Go ahead and plug
3:31
that in there or cover that there. Okay, there we go. So, it looks like that.
3:36
There's my microphone. And it goes in that little clip somehow. Maybe we'll do
3:40
that, too. It's all made of metal and everything. I was expecting it to be
3:45
plastic. Okay.
3:48
Um, so yeah, I don't know. Maybe this
3:52
goes through here.
3:56
No. Oh, I see. So, it has to go through this
4:02
twisted coil somehow, I think. You know
4:05
what? I'll figure that out later. Okay. So, anyway, we got our mic plugs in
4:10
here. There. Let's keep this simple. There we go. Mic there. Oh, and
4:16
it even screws on. Look at that. All right. And then on this side, we
4:24
have the
4:27
receiver, which goes like this.
4:31
Yep. And that goes into the cameraman's camera. if he had a way more awesome
4:35
camera, which he doesn't. So, we're actually going to use Okay, I better
4:38
unscrew that before I try and unplug it. There we go. So, we're actually gonna
4:42
use this one. So, all it is is just a normal uh normal like 3 and 12 mil
4:47
headphone jack. So, you go ahead and unplug it or plug it in here and then
4:52
plug that into the cameraman's camera. And then in theory, we are going to have
4:57
much improved audio in our future episodes of NCIX Tech Tips. I can try
5:03
and turn this on, but honestly, I don't know how. So, yeah, I guess I'm not
5:09
really going anywhere with this. There the announcement today. We have a new
5:12
microphone for NCX Tech Tips. Be excited. The audio quality will be much
5:16
improved. We hope.
