Yeah, setting up with some things and stuff. I gotta make sure that it doesn't
0:04
really know what's coming because some of my stuff is going to be kind of uh
0:08
kind of fun surprise type things. I don't know how well I'm going
0:13
to be able to conceal this one. It sounds like Stormtrooper armor. Oh,
0:18
it's not Stormtrooper armor, but that's a very good idea. How inconspicuous do I
0:22
look? Okay, I'm ready whenever. Okay,
0:29
one, two.
0:33
Man, this is going to suck. Dragon Age Inquisition had a
0:37
pretty minor bug here or there, but there's nothing too difficult to get out
0:40
of and nothing that was necessarily game-breaking either. At least nothing
0:44
that I came across that was gamebreaking. What was interesting about
0:47
the game was that this included Mantle and the difficulties that come with
0:52
that. If you want to see uh more silly challenges like this, like Lionus doing

1:25
benchmarking with Mantle. The first hurdle was found after I had finished
1:29
all of my NVIDIA testing using Fraps. Mantle doesn't exactly play nicely with
1:34
Fraps. And because of this, I had to toss all of my data and find a different
1:45
solution. You shot him in this game.
1:50
Just the tip just to see if it
1:57
hurts. Enter FCAT. When we're trying to record 4K, we found out that our capture
2:02
card doesn't support RGB input. Unfortunately, by the at the same time,
2:07
AMD cards didn't support YCBCR output.
2:11
Um, the case with NVIDIA was we didn't actually test it, so we didn't know if
2:15
they supported that. Uh what? But it didn't really matter
2:21
because they would both have to work regardless. And after all of this, the
2:24
final proverbial nail in the coffin was that the FCAT overlay required for
2:29
recording these frame times doesn't natively work in Mantle either, just
2:33
like the Fraps overlay doesn't as well. DICE actually hacked support for FCAT
2:39
into Battlefield 4, a solution that Boware as of this point has not included
2:44
in Dragon Age Inquisition.
2:49
We're done. Which brought us to our final
2:53
solution. Regrettably, we had to use the built-in benchmarking utility, which
2:57
unsurprisingly doesn't seem all that precise. And it runs through the same
3:01
canned sections of the game at a super speed and then spits out a minimum
3:06
average frame rate in about 40 seconds or less. The results of these tests
3:11
could v oh my goodness. uh it could vary anywhere from 0.5 to 2 FPS throughout
3:16
the benchmarks. Whereas usually with our own benchmarks, anything from above 0.1
3:22
to 0.2 is completely unacceptable.
3:27
How's your hand? I kind of smoked you with Oh, it's bleeding. Sorry. Oh, it's
3:31
fine, though, guys. No, it's fine. Keeping those issues in mind, our 1080p
3:36
results were quite linear. Something to note here is that while the 290X is
3:41
behind the 780 Ti in averages, it actually beat it in minimums by 0.1. But
3:48
still, it's important to note because losses in minimum FPS is much more
3:52
noticeable than anything else. The story with 4K was more or less
3:58
the same. But please note that I had settings quite hard to demonstrate the
4:03
uh ability for Dragon Age Inquisition to push your system. If running this is a
4:08
little bit difficult for you on your own, definitely just turn down the
4:11
performance a little or turn down the settings a little bit and your performance will be a lot better. Just
4:16
like with 1080p testing, the results were quite linear and the minimums for
4:20
AMD were actually noteworthy with 290X beating the 780 Ti by 0.6 in averages,
4:25
but by a whopping 2.2 in minimums.
4:30
Speaking of things that perform really well, I had to catch those and I'm happy
4:34
I did because we actually needed to segue into our sponsor spot. Our friends
4:38
over at Chiro are offering some awesome holiday pricing on their entire product
4:43
line. You can check that out in the video description down below. But that
4:47
does include stuff like $10 off their flavors lineup of Danboard 10,400 mAh
4:52
battery banks, regular price of $49.99, as well as deals on products we've
4:56
highlighted in the past, like their Dan Board Mini, their flagship Energy Plus
5:00
12,000 mAh, and their teenytiny Grip 2.
5:04
Even though these deals start on Black Friday, they're actually holiday offers,
5:08
meaning that they'll be available until the end of the year instead of just on
5:12
Black Friday. All these products make great gift ideas for friends or family.
5:16
Whether it's for someone who travels a lot or someone who needs power on the
5:19
go, someone who may be a little bit forgetful and needs a nice little backup
5:23
battery bank in their car or say even their backpack like I do. And yes, for
5:28
all of you international viewers, international shipping is definitely
5:31
available through Amazon. We'll post a link to their instructions on how to do
5:35
that whole international shipping thing in the video description down below as
5:38
well. So, don't forget to keep Chiro in mind when you're looking for like cool
5:43
little gifts for this holiday season. They're nice and cheap, so they could be stocking stuffers even maybe. And thank
5:48
you for Chiro for sponsoring this video. All right, guys. Again, don't forget to
