Welcome to my unboxing of the Belulin
0:11
Wimo, which is not related to the Wii at
0:14
all. Spelled differently even. And the new Wii is the Wii U, not the Wimo. Uh,
0:20
okay. Sorry. Sorry. Enough of that. This is actually really cool. So the whole
0:25
like um like wireless home control thing
0:29
like we've been talking about this for years now you know you're on your way
0:32
home so you want to like preheat your oven so you you know turn on your oven
0:36
or whatever like like network controlled devices you know we've got smart TVs now
0:42
this is a way of taking dumb devices or
0:45
well devices that don't have any built-in logic and controlling them
0:49
using your iPhone. So they're calling it the iPhone home remote and you can set
0:55
things up. Evidently, we're going to be doing a full NCX tech tips about this.
0:58
So, you know, stay stay tuned, right? So, it's great for controlling things
1:01
like your Okay, I can't imagine why you'd need to control like
1:06
an like an iron. You're going to iron shirts. You turn your iron on with a
1:11
with a remote. Okay, whatever. Uh hair curler. Okay, heater. There we go.
1:15
Heaters and fans. This this I believe because you know on those summer nights
1:19
you can't fall asleep first because it's too hot and then because the fan is loud
1:24
so you can like tinker with it you know from bed with your with your iPhone
1:28
whatever else. You can set schedules which is kind of neat. So you can do
1:31
that with the software as well. Uh with multiple Weimo switches you control as
1:35
much or as little of your home as you'd like. Weo runs on your iPhone and your
1:39
Wi-Fi network is all easy to set up and use. So, it works on anything from an
1:42
iPhone 3G, I believe, up to Yeah. iPod
1:46
Touch third generation, iPhone 3GS and later, and any iPad generation of
1:51
products. So, let's go ahead and Okay, apparently I missed two of the half a
1:56
dozen or so stickers on the back of the box here. So, we can go ahead and check
2:00
it out. I'm not expecting to find anything sort of revolutionary in terms
2:04
of the hardware in here, but I'm really excited to check out the software app.
2:08
So, there's your quick install guide. Plug the thing in the thing. Download
2:13
and install Weimo app from the app store. Settings and so connect to your
2:17
Wi-Fi network. Oh. Oh. Select Wi-Fi. Connect to Weimo network. Launch the
2:21
Weimo app to complete the Oh, okay. So, you'll be able to complete the setup once you're in there. Oh, okay. That's
2:26
kind of cool. So, this is fairly straightforward. You've got a three-pronged plug. Although, if you're
2:30
in a different territory, it's likely that the PL plug plug plong the plong
2:35
the plug will look different. Uh, we've got one switch. This is disappointing. I
2:39
would have really liked to see two switches with some kind of a with with
2:43
two like two passroughs with two full sets of logic inside and one wireless
2:48
chipset. I think that way we could have gotten more functionality out of this
2:52
device without actually adding necessarily that much to the cost of it.
2:55
Although what do I know about what they cost? Uh there's a power button here.
2:58
There's a wireless indicator. There's a restore button
3:02
which use indoors only. Restore factory settings. Ah okay. So to restore factory
3:07
settings for whatever reason you wanted to do
3:11
that. I don't know what else to say about this. So let's move on to the next
3:15
one. This is the Wimo Switch Plus motion. So not only do you have this
3:19
software wireless switchness going on, you've also got a motion sensor. So you
3:26
can turn it on, turn it off, and you can activate it with motion. And you can
3:29
control all of that. See, look. I want my stuff to turn on, then off. Turn off
3:34
or on. Turn on slash off if motion. So,
3:38
that's pretty neat. Let's just kind of open this up
3:44
and find out how much different it is. So, it's basically another one of these.
3:48
Okay. And then one of these, which is
3:52
Oh, okay. So, this is two completely separate like dooddads.
3:58
No, this is this is similar. Oh, neat. Okay, so once you Okay, so basically
4:03
once you synchronize and and get all of
4:06
your all of your Weimo devices set up within the app, you should be able to
4:10
kind of tinker around with it on a pretty granular level. So, we're really looking forward to checking this out.
