0:00 not long ago we released this video it was the brief overview and introduction
0:04 of the Gigabyte G1 gaming 980 TI at computex 2015 and at that time we could
0:10 obviously see the card aesthetically but the effectiveness of the cooling and the
0:14 performance of the card especially when its various clock speeds were
0:18 unannounced was a mystery now that we have the card in hand it's time to go
0:22 over everything in more detail and get the under the hood look at this bad boy
0:26 to see what it can really do by the way Brandon and I visited an amazing new
0:30 tech Mall in Taipei and took a bunch of fancy b-roll footage and whatnot and
0:35 we'd like to show you guys what's up with that Tech M because it's honestly
0:39 kind of fantastic but lonus is rather unsure about it so slam that like button
0:43 and let them know you want to see
0:52 it freshbooks is the super simple invoicing solution that lets you get
0:56 organized save time and get paid faster click now to try it for free
1:01 first Up Performance Hardware gigabytes Premier gtx980ti is rocking a stock base
1:05 clock speed of the 2816 Kuda cor equipped gm200 chip of
1:11 1190 and a boost clock speed of
1:14 1291 although this isn't really what you
1:17 actually get in a good way though don't worry if that's confusing we'll get more
1:22 into the performance later on by the way there are two modes for this card gaming
1:26 mode and OC mode even if you're not overclocking just run the card in OC
1:30 mode gaming mode just Nerfs your base and boost clock by about 50 MHz compared
1:34 to OC mode and that's just silly Gigabyte was a little less aggressive in
1:38 the memory Department running the stock amount of RAM at 6 GB at a speed of
1:43 about 7,010 MHz the G1 gaming 980 TI is
1:48 cooled by the same 3x 600 W cooling system as the previous G1 gaming 980 but
1:54 it has some various aesthetic changes which I think look great first up they
1:58 added some silver coloring to the outside of the Cooler's front which
2:01 looks really sharp and a lot more active than the previous all black design but
2:06 could also potentially conflict with some color setup builds I think but
2:11 almost all cases will be fine with it due to the still generally muted color
2:15 palette then we have the LED backlit windforce logo on the top of the card
2:19 which isn't technically full RGB but can be set to white yellow blue purple red
2:26 green or teal to match almost any build you might have you set these colors
2:30 through the Gigabyte OC Guru 2 utility software which you can download from the
2:35 support and download section of the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980ti website on each
2:40 side of this back lit logo is a button to stop the fans if you want to move
2:44 into a silent operating mode and we turn the uh main logo LEDs off and turn the
2:50 white LEDs behind said respective buttons on I do have a gripe with this
2:54 some people might bring up that having a button on your graphics card is not
2:58 going to be all that helpful for most people that will probably have this card
3:02 inside of a computer case and they don't want to take off their side panel and
3:06 press a button inside their computer when they could just control it with
3:09 software but I'm not going to complain about added features when they don't
3:13 really hurt anything my problem with this is that one of the buttons says
3:18 silent and the other button says stop please if you're going to have two
3:23 different buttons that do the exact same thing at least name and label them the
3:28 same way anyways moving on this card
3:31 also comes with gigabyt flex display technology which allows you to plug in
3:35 up to four monitors at the same time using some various plug groupings you do
3:41 this by choosing an additional DVID or
3:44 two additional DisplayPort plugs over your already existing DVI DisplayPort
3:49 and HDMI plugs a great feature for adapting to your various potential
3:53 display adapter needs the windforce 3x cooler has three fans 5 8 mm heat pipes
3:58 and 1 6 m heat pipe the fan blades have a special striped design or stripped
4:04 design that Gigabyte claims to increase air flow by 23% compared to traditional
4:09 fans and also reduces air turbulence other than that we have a fairly
4:13 expected setup on top of the right hand side of the card you have your standard
4:17 set of dual 8 Pin power connectors SLI fingers on the left side and a black PCB
4:22 hidden under all of those fancy aesthetic improvements that we mentioned
4:25 earlier we don't have an acoustic chamber yet maybe in the new office
4:30 lonus maybe I don't know either way it
4:33 wasn't that bad under load and was able to even keep the card quite cool with an
4:37 ambient temperature of 32 freaking de C
4:41 just before we get into the performance section I'd like to remind you guys that
4:44 NVIDIA has some tech inside this card including Classics like SLI Cuda and
4:49 GeForce experience and all the new stuff that was introduced with the gtx980 ti
4:53 like g-sync fullcreen Window mode support direct
4:57 x121 support and VR rendering optimizations for rendering fewer
5:02 unnecessary pixels which you can learn more about in Linus's original 980ti
5:06 launch video by clicking here overclocking the G1 gaming 980 TI was
5:12 odd but unsurprising I mentioned earlier that it had an 1190 stock clock and a
5:17 boost clock of 12291 but in actuality without any
5:21 tweaking or changes on my end it was able to achieve a boost clock of
5:26 1370 all on its own that's quite an improving over the already existing
5:31 boost clock this has been going on for a while now if you haven't noticed yet and
5:36 we're actually looking into making a video comparing a whole bunch of the
5:39 same card to see all their various boost clocks on their own but it's a little
5:43 difficult to round up enough cards to make the sample size actually mean
5:46 anything so don't hold your breath waiting for that one for actual
5:50 overclocking manually it did pretty well to a core clock actual of 1480 but one
5:57 problem I did have was some weird voltage issues my card got upset when I
6:00 applied any additional voltage to it at all which is a little weird and I would
6:04 expect most people to get around 15 25
6:07 to, 1550 with this card as my overclocked power draw and thermals
6:12 really didn't get that high due to the voltage causing the card to crash
6:16 prematurely in terms of performance it did really well even beating out the
6:20 previous King the Titan X at stock speeds and absolutely running away with
6:24 things when overclocked in every single game that we tested with no out standing
6:29 issues anywhere in conclusion the Titan X just got wrecked for gaming we all
6:34 knew it wouldn't last although I must admit this was a little faster than I
6:38 had expected having the G1 gaming 98 TI walk all over the Titan even when not
6:43 overclocked was damn
6:46 impressive and M drop so we've got a
6:50 drop for you guys today visit draw UPS
6:53 SL Linus Tech tips and actually this is
6:56 a deal from our buds over at Sennheiser this is the gorma zero I think they mean
7:02 game but it's lead speak or something along those lines it's a pretty awesome
7:06 gaming headset from senheiser one of the Hallmarks of Sennheiser gaming headsets
7:10 is their excellent boom marks boom marks
7:13 boom microphones and you can get this one for 179 instead of 249 which is the
7:19 MSRP as long as at least five people
7:23 jump on to the drop which is good news for you if you want to get it at that
7:26 minimum price because as of the time of filming this there's already 15 people
7:30 on it so uh yeah basically our work is
7:34 done and we haven't even started what work are we doing well we want to tell
7:37 you guys about mop.com great site they

7:44 if we can find enough people to buy this thing how low can you go manufacturers
7:49 and Distributors come in and they say okay well if you can get 10 to buy it
7:52 you get this price if you get this many you can get an even lower price and the
7:55 whole Community works together for basically coordinated group buying so
8:00 you can visit draws linest techtips for whatever deal it is that we're on about
8:05 or you can just browse the M drop site where you can find all kinds of cool stuff from gaming headsets to keyboards
8:10 to knives to well you get my point we
8:13 picked up an audio recorder there not that long ago so uh check it out now
8:19 awesome site become a member it's free until you start buying a bunch of stuff
