0:01 all right guys welcome to the live stream we are exactly four minutes early
0:04 I was trying to make that five minutes early but I was a little bit late on that last minute um which makes us
0:10 exactly I think 35 or was it 50 minutes
0:15 earlier than last stream wow significant
0:18 Improvement pretty big Improvement first of all we're before on time so we're
0:22 early in general and then we're earlier than being like half an hour to 45
0:26 minutes late which is I don't know I think that's pretty good personally
0:30 I know that's just me we have some pretty cool topics first two are the BBC
0:35 says that ISP should assume that uh any
0:39 heavy internet V or VPN users sorry are
0:42 pirates so apparently we we we both learned today that we're we're Pirates
0:46 yes I wish I had my old pirate shirt from packs five years ago that would
0:50 that would work perfectly um the ncta says four megabytes per second should be
0:55 enough to be considered broad Broadband which is like Terri un fortunate really
1:01 terrible just sad it's September so we have mobile mobile announcements of the
1:06 butt we'll talk about that later also we have some pretty serious rumors about
1:09 900 series and video graphics cards um
1:12 which we we all know when it's like this level of rumors they're probably pretty
1:16 close to True EXA so we'll talk about those later on as well
1:30 I think we should have a new intro for us where we both actually properly carry
1:34 the coach instead of having that would
1:37 beun take too long to develop but it would be pretty
1:41 cool like up first up we have mod
1:49 24 there we go first up we have mod 24
1:52 it's on September 18th as you can see there starting at 600 p.m. and it is a
1:55 24-hour competition where there will be three teams competing tomorrow sptify
2:00 things and it'll like I said it'll last 24 hours and only one team will win Lis
2:05 and I will be streaming it the entire time so if we manage to make it through
2:09 without dying it should be a pretty interesting stream and if we don't
2:13 manage to make it through and we end up dying then it will be an extremely
2:16 interesting stream so be sure to tune in and check that out on the 18th which is
2:22 pretty soon actually and then next up our next sponsor is linda.com where you
2:26 can learn pretty much freaking anything I know Taran here at Works us it uses it
2:30 to learn uh Premiere because apparently he didn't know enough when we first
2:34 hired him great um and if you especially
2:38 if you're a high school student that wants to go to postsecondary education
2:42 for programming I would extremely highly suggest linda.com check out linda.com
2:47 wow to sign up and I believe if I can
2:51 find this um yeah if you go to linda.com
2:54 wow you get a 7-Day free trial and plans are about 25 bucks a month
3:00 it's a pretty good deal back us that's actually not too bad for what you get
3:03 it's pretty cool and like I said it's it's it's good for programmers but to
3:08 the news of the show do you want to jump into Samsung Gear VR and Samsung Note 4
3:13 immediately or jump into other stuff we we could jump into that I think you you
3:17 should probably talk about the VR I can talk about the Note 4 okay so I tried um
3:22 gear VR a lot of you guys saw my video on that I was actually pretty impressed
3:27 um with how well it looked but I was a
3:30 little bit worried with the demos so to go into more detail than the video which
3:34 you guys should check out um just Samsung Gear VR Linus techtips on
3:38 YouTube you'll find it uh it's it's
3:41 actually fairly nicely built although the the built-in navigation controls
3:45 while they work are very odd because if you want to use it to fire you're going
3:49 to be like tapping the side of your head
3:52 like this to Fire and I don't know of any gun personally that you shoot from
3:57 your face so uh
4:00 and like I know you don't shoot a gun like this either but it feels more
4:03 natural so I would highly suggest using like a Bluetooth controller and
4:07 Bluetooth headset because the speaker on the back as well like it exists and I
4:11 didn't really get to try it while I was there because it was so loud but that's
4:14 inherently a problem right it was fairly loud while I was there so I didn't
4:18 really get to try it because I couldn't hear it it may be loud where you're
4:22 trying to use the device me yeah exactly so I don't know I I was kind of hoping
4:26 considering they put that whole speaker pack there they would have just built in
4:29 uh retractable headphones and my my idea
4:32 when I first saw it I just assumed they did this cuz it would have been pretty cool was retractable like earbud style
4:37 headphones or in your style headphones and then have a plug-in that would
4:41 override so if you wanted to have your own headphones or just have Bluetooth
4:45 overrided if you wanted to have bluetooth headphones but apparently not
4:48 they just went with the speaker so this is an industry that's evolving
4:52 constantly though yeah like the VR industry is changing incredibly fast
4:55 incredibly quick so considering how long ago DK2 came out mhm and had a Note 3
5:00 screen and then now this has a note 4 screen and a massive Improvement that
5:03 basically now to add on to the Note 4 screen the thing that has me worried
5:07 battery life in the industry I work in which I can work 18 hour day sometimes
5:10 battery life is a huge problem yeah and obviously this is not something you're
5:14 working with in industry but you have to survive off your Note 4's battery do I
5:17 have that correct yep I find that to be a flaw that's now there's no wires
5:23 attached though so there's a huge benefit on the other side of that yeah
5:26 no it is and I I did bring this up in the video you're you're attach
5:30 to the note in more ways than you would necessarily want to be one thing is very
5:35 cool because no cables like you're talking about you can freely spin around
5:38 which is interesting for the demos that they showed at the event right because
5:41 like one of the demos that they had was you're you're underwater and there's all these crazy fish and sea animals and
5:46 stuff going around you but you're fixed in a spot so you can sit there and spin
5:52 and look at all these different things around you and it's really cool and now
5:55 that's doable with a DK2 from Oculus but
5:58 you're going to be constant L like holding on to the cable and lifting it
6:01 like above you and like making sure you can spin and like managing this thing
6:05 which completely breaks immersion yeah exactly so it's cool that you can just
6:08 sit there and spin but then at the same time there is a limited spinning
6:12 duration I guess because the battery on the phone right it's if you're playing a
6:16 game it's not going to last forever now there's counterarguments to this in
6:20 saying that you're probably not going to want to stay in this not super well
6:25 refined yet VR environment forever because Oculus DK to gear VR all this
6:31 kind of stuff is still not there yet it's still a little bit jarring so while
6:35 I can stay in VR environments for quite a long time because I've been toying
6:38 with them for a very long time especially if someone's new to it it's
6:42 it's maybe not something you're going to want to do for a massive amount uh of
6:45 time in per session so you could charge your phone between that but it's still a
6:49 little bit I don't know the other thing is you don't plug it into a computer so
6:54 you don't have this massive Powerhouse powering it all you have your
6:58 phone so it's a note 4 is Beefy it is
7:01 but it's not a desktop it's not a desktop so and uh that's going to limit
7:05 what you can actually play and while you could do some like desktop streaming
7:09 stuff um it's still not great and that that's why I said in my
7:14 video as well hopefully they partner with like steam or NVIDIA or someone to
7:19 get a really really good version of streaming like they have for The Shield
7:24 or The Shield tablet because those are very good but the current solutions for
7:29 streaming to a phone while they're pretty good are not really fully there
7:34 and it's going to have to be amazing for it to be VR ready right cuz you can't
7:39 manage like if you turn your head and there's a little bit of lag it like
7:43 makes you feel sick right I've experienced it before it's not fun I
7:46 tried doing a remote streamy thing with some weird ghetto cardboard setup thing
7:50 that I did didn't end up making a video about it because it totally failed um it
7:55 was no good so yeah you're attached to the processor
8:00 but there will be some interesting stuff like they're bringing portal or I think
8:03 they already did bring portal to Android right so you be able to play portal uh
8:07 you can play halflife I Believe halflife 2 even you can play and it's weird
8:11 because it's third person but you can play
8:14 GTA interesting the original GTA were third person right yeah um it's it's
8:20 weird because it's third person but it's
8:23 still kind of cool because it's it's
8:26 like simulating this massive monitor I I don't like how they describe it CU
8:30 they're like oh yeah it's like you're sitting right in front of like a 180 in
8:35 TV and I'm like it's not really the same thing at all sorry um but it is kind of
8:42 it is an interesting different cool way to play but that would be more of a I'm
8:47 going to sit here and not turn at all
8:50 and just like stare straight forward and use my controller to manage all the
8:54 actual camera movement and then at that point like why aren't you just using the
8:57 DK2 and playing the new new GTA when it comes out in a super long time a super
9:03 long best segue ever I wasn't even preparing for that at all okay we we'll
9:08 jump back for note four that's fine the segue was so beautiful we have to go
9:12 forward with this I had to take advantage it's perfect
9:15 so uh they they they announced GTA 5
9:18 release dates for NextGen and PC and I
9:23 was like oh sweet we're finally going to know when it's coming obviously expecting holiday season surprised it
9:28 wasn't announced at P but they're GTA so it probably doesn't really matter mhmh
9:33 Xbox One and PS4 are getting them on November 18th pretty much exactly when I
9:37 expected it to happen but that does not include the PC version I'm sure twitch
9:41 chat is already freaking out about this because I'm sure everybody knows um oh I
9:47 didn't launch the thing because I'm super dumb this needs to be public there
9:53 we go ah okay that's okay got that done um
9:59 the PC version is not releasing until January 27th of next
10:06 year yeah that you know that's when everyone's trying to make their money
10:09 back from Christmas that's when everyone's kind of you know reeling in
10:13 the spending awkward time it it is it is
10:16 sales drop incredibly in January 27th there might be a peak because of all the
10:20 different PC users I know there's a big modding Community behind GTA a lot of
10:24 the older GTA titles you know they get they get modded incredibly while we're
10:27 at Pax the mutual friend showed us the uh a video of where someone basically
10:31 implemented watch dogs that was so cool into GTA it was incredible incredibly
10:36 well done definitely look that up I don't have it in my notes or anything
10:40 but uh GTA 4 I believe it was GTA 4
10:43 Watchdogs mod it's done really really well mindblowing just incredibly well
10:48 done like I might actually go mod it to be able to do that because then it would
10:51 probably run better than Watch Dogs anyways uh but yeah he used uh ice
10:56 enhance and a few other mods and then his own stuff and made the Watchdog mod
11:02 and it's incredibly well done it's if
11:05 you weren't paying a ton of attention you might almost think it's Watch Dogs
11:08 because of how many different things you can do like the the like what do you
11:12 even call them elevating roadblock things perfect description yeah but that
11:17 was the one of the first things in the video so you know you're watching The Right video If this happens but yeah
11:21 then traffic he can hack everything it's it's really you can you can do camera
11:25 hacking which I didn't expect to work at all and you can jump from camera to
11:28 camera you can go prone which I don't believe is something that exists in GTA
11:33 you can go prone because you can can do that on Watch Dogs yeah and he he shows
11:37 going up on top of a train and going prone under one of the the overpass
11:40 things which I don't know that's pretty interesting now jumping backwards with a
11:46 much worse segue uh Note 4 so the Note 4
11:50 um I've been really excited for this phone I've been talking to you about this phone there's been lots of rumors
11:54 about this phone it's the flagship and the note series is really it's the
11:58 really it's a real big hitter these days you know the Note 2 um kind of wasn't a
12:04 huge deal um there wasn't really anything super special about it the note
12:07 three is really when I feel and I I think you would agree that the note
12:10 really came into its own and it really separated itself from the pack the Note
12:15 4 is continuing that uh the S Pen has
12:18 incredibly upgraded features with how it can detect with the pressure and uh you
12:23 can write with different kind of like pens it's supposed to feel much more
12:27 intuitive yeah I'd have to go to you and comment on that cuz it's i' I've used it
12:31 a small amount they didn't have a lot of text examples there which was kind of
12:34 lame when they're like a super awesome pen which is great for selecting text
12:37 which we don't have right okay um but it
12:41 it did seem better another problem was that they didn't have a note three there
12:45 to directly compare right so like I was doing it I was like this feels good I
12:51 don't know um so yeah I think it was better well it just shows their
12:55 dedication to the S Pen um to their stylist built into their phone cuz the
12:59 Note 2 it really wasn't anything special the Note 3 it came with a bunch of cool
13:02 little features I know my mom our mom actually uses it quite a bit and then
13:06 they're continuing it on with the Note 4 um another thing is the big battery it's
13:10 got a 3,220 milliamp battery so again they're keeping the battery up again
13:14 processor as well uh quad core Snapdragon uh running at 2.7 GHz that's
13:19 the North American launch I believe the European launch is an octacore um to
13:25 double check it and actually write that um write that one down the main camera
13:28 is a 16 megapixel with the rear cam uh or sorry with the rear camera the main
13:33 camera being a 16 megapixel the front-facing camera being a
13:36 2.7 uh megapixel got a Super AMOLED display gorilla Gorilla Glass 3 and it's
13:43 got a 515 pixel density with uh that makes it
13:47 1440 by 2560 now question I want to
13:50 throw at you was you and lonus talk a lot about the resolution of phones
13:55 that's something I've noticed on a lot of the WAN shows um that I've been
13:58 watching and the differences and you know 720 possibly being a little too low
14:02 um but some of the ceilings being a little too high where do you think the Note 4 Falls in that uh again problem
14:07 being I didn't have a lot of comparison they didn't have a Note 3 there that I could compare against uh my phone is a
14:12 Moto X not the greatest to compar in
14:15 that field um so I needed to pull it out
14:19 of that situation which is why at the end of the review I said I need more hands on time with it but I'm kind of
14:24 thinking because it is such a massive phone at that scale Maybe could make a
14:29 difference right so I'm thinking at that screen size maybe it matters I'm not
14:34 sure I need to get it back here where I can actually compare it against other
14:37 phones I do know in your video you were saying it was one of the nicest screens you've looked at it looks really good
14:41 but then that isn't necessarily tied to resolution right that could just be tied
14:46 to it being a really nice looking Super AMOLED panel that's true uh because it
14:50 did look really good it did look very vibrant uh I liked the saturation all
14:54 that kind of stuff it was a beautiful screen I just don't know if all of that's actually tied to resolution so I
14:59 I'd love to get it back here I know the second you line it up against a G3
15:02 you'll be like yep note looks a lot better because G3 sacrificed all the
15:07 like nice color saturation all that kind of stuff that they could have had for
15:11 the resolution and it seems like uh the Note 4 did not they got that resolution
15:16 in there but then they also didn't sacrifice much for it which is great and
15:19 one thing that people have brought up is the lower battery life thing there's
15:23 pretty simple tricks you can do by downloading apps that I don't even think
15:27 you need to root your phone for which can change your resolution down right
15:31 and you can even have like uh some triggering apps that will trigger based
15:35 on different events launch the app that
15:39 um reduces the resolution on your phone once you hit a different battery
15:43 threshold level yeah I've heard I haven't used any person but I've heard
15:46 of that yeah yeah so there are ways around that of course it's not super
15:50 elegant and I think it would be cool if they built that type of functionality
15:53 into the phone this is really random but greenify have you heard of greenify have
15:57 you used that at all no the same guy who showed us the GTA video showed me
16:01 greenify greenify I'm just going to throw this in here for two seconds it's a great little app uh it's a free app
16:06 but what it does is it controls the apps on your phone now I use this in my
16:09 tablet and my truck um and it's really helped me with battery life um I think
16:13 we might actually do a video about that coming up but I'll I'll show you how it
16:16 works but it's a great app if you're having battery life problems it controls
16:20 your other apps controls Facebook Twitter any of those apps and it won't
16:23 allow them um to basically wake up while they're in asleep mode great little app
16:28 um little now back to the note the odd thing about
16:32 the note compared to the Note 3 and something that I really liked about the Note 3 was that it had USB 3 right it
16:38 was an attachment that allowed you to have a USB 3 connector or a USB 2 yeah
16:42 it was either or um it was I thought extremely well done apparently Samsung
16:47 didn't think so because the Note 4 does not have that feature yeah I I think a
16:51 lot of it was public perception uh people found it one ugly they didn't
16:56 like it because it was just this giant hole in the bottom
16:59 and you had to have the big cable but then you didn't
17:02 have but I think there was also a lot of misconception on that I don't think a
17:06 lot of people realized that it was backwards compatible and you could use your old USB 2.0 cables that could be
17:11 true public perception I think a large amount of it was public perception so
17:14 they were like okay if no one wants it anyways then we'll just go back to we'll
17:18 just go back despite it being a much faster medium uh and I think another
17:22 thing is it's a lot of people are doing file transfer wirelessly anyways that's
17:26 true so updates and everything yeah
17:29 while you're gaining uh wired speed a
17:32 lot of people are just going to transfer files between their computer and whatnot
17:36 wirelessly so makes sense yeah I think I
17:39 think no one really cared and the people that did care didn't want it so they
17:43 just ditched it although I would have liked to still see it there but I don't
17:47 really care either because I'm one of those people that does everything
17:51 wirelessly so and until they come up with that um I'm I'm going to segue
17:56 again right here watch are you ready I'm ready until they come up with that power
18:00 USB power to oh yeah the new something higher power yeah then I would be like
18:05 okay I can see them moving off the USB 2.0 standard so if we can find this
18:09 article in here wherever it is I segue without being perhaps if they had a USB
18:16 3.1 type c there we
18:19 go um so real pictures have started surfacing of USB 3.1 type-c which is
18:25 absolutely fantastic Peak throughput goes through 10 GBS per second from the
18:30 5 GB per second of 3.0 uh which is essentially 1.25 GB per
18:35 second which is pretty cool and USB power delivery 2.0 which not enough
18:40 people care about I don't know why like
18:43 I made a video on 100 watt USB cables at pack not packs CES 2014 yeah this year
18:51 and like no one cared and should care
18:54 and then every time we talk about it everyone's like uh and I'm like this is
18:57 such a big deal it it is really a huge deal um USB
19:02 continues to be an amazing thing I don't know how
19:06 else to say that I'm put that in better vocabulary if you read the article the
19:10 article on uh Linus Tech the USB 31 by Good Bites posted by Good Bites is an
19:15 excellent article it's got a ton of really good pictures you guys should check it out um but it's continuing USB
19:20 is a huge deal again to refer to the tablet in my truck I have it uh attached
19:25 through USB it it's basically through a modified cigarette lighter it just
19:29 slowly trickles power um to my tablet while it's up so a big thing for me is
19:34 making sure it doesn't lose any P power um while my truck's off and that's a big
19:38 thing I have to focus on with this kind of connector I could lose so much more
19:42 power and make all of that back it's it's really would even be that big of a
19:47 deal reversible too which is super reversible we're just going to stare at
19:52 the guys like details of his skin on this photo because I think they focused
19:56 on the wrong thing but it's cool
19:59 no no worries pretty cool I'm excited for that
20:04 especially the power thing I don't even ah as long as stuff works because that
20:09 that's one of the reasons why people get a little bit confused when I talk about I'm going to scroll down to a better
20:13 picture of the connector there um people get confused when I talk about why I
20:17 like USB 2.0 points ports on motherboards and then I was trying to
20:22 defend myself and people were like oh no it always works then I went to go work on a motherboard and none of the USB 3.0
20:28 point worked and then I had to reformat this laptop cuz I put Windows 7 on it
20:33 and they're all USB 3.0 ports and the
20:36 only way I could get data onto it when I reform it to Windows 7 was through the
20:40 the disc tray because it didn't have an Ethernet driver and none of the USB
20:44 ports worked and I was like this is why did it feel ancient did it feel like
20:49 you're going back in time it was so weird I had to find discs cuz usually
20:53 back in the day it was like oh whatever got spindles all over Place spindles for days spind for days now it's like I
20:59 don't I haven't even tried to use one of these in a long time my desktop didn't
21:02 even have a drive so I had to go find an external optical drive thing so I could
21:06 actually I haven't had a drive in my desktop I want to say for six years yeah
21:11 I you know maybe not quite six maybe five but you know I remember one time I
21:16 had to I had to drive all the way here to borrow your uh cdrom USB I think you
21:22 might still have that I probably do yeah cuz I I just had to
21:28 I had to I had to go to the office and get that one because I was like I can't
21:31 find my old I think it was LG I haven't seen it in years it's definitely LG and
21:36 it's definitely in my pile of computer stuff awesome um you can see it in the
21:41 old mineral oil computer video that I have not that I used it there but I had
21:46 it plugged in because I was like oh it looks cool when you you built
21:50 that was that the Vista age or was that
21:53 ke Vista so you still you know you still
21:56 kind of needed it right so it was still helpful exactly through dayto day so the
22:02 next topic which we're going to have a
22:05 Twitter Poll for and I'm going to get this one properly on my screen at the
22:10 start of the topic while you're doing that I just
22:14 want to give a shout out because we're going to be mentioning everyone who posted in the lius tech tips Forum I
22:19 obviously have seen the Forum since the beginning and amazing post on this forum
22:24 like you guys should really Pat yourselves on the back I'm kind of a
22:27 weird line of tech edition kind of free
22:31 contractor for graphics card but um so
22:34 from A View from the outside like you guys doing amazing job and I mean you guys as the guys posting on there I lurk
22:40 I take a bunch of information and uh sorry I digress but really good post
22:44 it's it's really good and we have a post this is from Jericho and this is a very
22:47 good post but we have a post coming up which I'm going to have to specifically call out for I think our iPhone segment
22:53 the iPhone one is was written crazy well by Victoria Secret but we'll get there
22:57 in a second this post was by Jericho so AT&T and Verizon which are a part of let
23:03 me get the name here the national cable and Telecom telecommunications
23:07 Association or ncta which is yeah AT&T
23:10 and Verizon have filed documents to the FCC trying to say that Broadband is
23:15 already fast enough and claiming that 4 megabits per second or
23:20 0.5 megabytes a
23:23 second brutal should remain uh should remain the standard for Broadband the
23:28 FCC has been considering raising the definition of broadband to 10 megabits
23:32 per second which they should um from and
23:35 its original definition was 200 kilobits
23:38 per second which was up to 4 megabits per second in 2010 that was a lot of
23:41 megabits per second that I just said um streaming HD content isn't even really
23:46 possible at 4 megabits per second and I
23:50 am I'm not surprised that they're doing
23:53 this but my heart is sad it's it makes
23:57 me think and I I I can't even do the quote because I'm gonna get it wrong but
24:00 the Bill Gates quote about you know 256
24:03 bits or he's he claims that that never actually even happened really I think it
24:07 was like what was it 56 kilobytes of RAM will be all you ever need or something
24:11 it's something I can't remember the quote Yeah he he claims it never actually happened or it was taken out of
24:15 context or something I don't remember what but but I feel like this is going to be the new one do you know what I
24:19 mean like this is going to be the extreme underestimate the undere exaggeration of
24:24 what we currently need and what we're going to need as everything is going on
24:28 online and just to segue a little bit I use Hangouts on my phone for my text
24:32 messaging app trying to explain to my mother and grandfather about how you can
24:36 have an SMS message and a Hangouts message and they're in the same thing
24:40 and one uses data and one like that was very difficult everything but my my
24:45 emphasis with that is everything is going online you know what I mean like
24:48 when we try to jump a a border we use the internet right everything is going
24:52 to the internet you know you can if you're a Seahawks fan you can download
24:55 if you're a Canucks fan any of these fans you can download packages to watch
24:59 their games online through your computer you can stream them you pay them a
25:03 specific fee instead of the cable company it's starting right everything
25:06 is going Netflix everything is going to broadband and we'll be talking about
25:10 that even more later on but this is just ridiculous this is painful it's stupid I
25:16 guess I'm streaming the stream which is fantastic I need to go back
25:20 to here here um I I I'm not surprised
25:25 they're doing it because I think what they're trying to do is keep the definition low so they can still charge
25:30 people a lot for a service that sounds
25:33 by its naming better than it is and part
25:36 of the problem is with a broad name like
25:40 Broadband um let me see here one second
25:44 yeah with a broad name like Broadband I had to say that sorry um it needs to
25:48 have its definition changed from time to time because the standard of what you're
25:53 going to do on the Internet is going to change we no longer look up well we
25:57 still do sometimes but like the Space Jam website is an example that I use all
26:01 the time uh let's look up Space Jam
26:07 here is this it yes the old school Space
26:12 Jam website which still runs this is not the kind of Internet that we're using
26:15 now these are still clickable images
26:19 with like random like this little spinny
26:22 thing right here like that's that that was super cool that was like the height
26:27 of difficult internet data but like we
26:30 don't do that anymore it's a lot harder people are trying to stream Netflix all
26:34 the time people are trying to stream high high quality YouTube videos YouTube
26:38 is streaming into trying to get up to 4K and stuff now we have 3200 people
26:42 streaming this show there exact streaming is very difficult to do on
26:46 your internet connection if you have Broadband at 0.5 megabytes per second
26:51 it's not going to be that great and especially when stuff like YouTube and
26:55 twitch are trying to get into 60fps streams the FPS uh is going to be a lot
27:00 more data than like like we we have a
27:03 video on this um the 792p WTF video
27:08 where I talk about how a GTX 480 a super old I think it's like fivey year old
27:12 graphics card it is a top tier graphics card but still a 5-year-old graphics
27:15 card is beating out modern consoles um I
27:20 I talk about in that video yeah I talk about the next gen consoles makes me
27:24 giggle sorry I talk about uh in that
27:28 video how it's much harder to ramp up
27:31 the FPS than the resolution so when they're running at 30 FPS 792p that's
27:36 really depressing that they couldn't just up to 1080p because it's really not
27:40 that hard what would have been hard for them to do is stay at 792p and jump to
27:44 60 FPS so that's a lot more data that
27:48 you're that you're pushing through way more
27:51 so you can't you can't just keep this
27:55 definition static I don't know how much we actually need to talk about this because I'm sure I'm just preaching to
27:59 the choir at this I like what you said though just to add one last thing on I
28:02 never thought of it as a money grab
28:06 right we we can set the standard to be this low if you want something
28:09 acceptable what we would consider what most people what everyone watching would
28:13 be consider to be acceptable you're going to have to pay here never really thought of that before that I think
28:16 that's the biggest Point yeah I I wouldn't be surprised if that's it um
28:21 because you see
28:24 uh it it's much easier for a company
28:28 that has to do deployments to increase
28:31 their infrastructure to try to stay stagnant right because then if they can
28:37 just keep pushing out the same service all the time then they can just take
28:40 subscription fees you're just stacking money you're just stacking money yeah
28:44 essentially so if they have to go around and upgrade all this
28:49 stuff that's just money out right it's just directly money out I don't know I
28:55 don't know hear you see this this could be an education thing too
28:58 if we can just teach people to start interpreting raw speeds instead of terms
29:04 that could help but then like Mom is
29:07 never going to want to figure out how fast in relation to what she's doing
29:12 these different speeds are she's always going to want to know oh broadband
29:15 connection I'm good that would be way more helpful for herly if it's not your
29:19 hobby you're not going to be as informed you know what I mean for us for a lot of
29:22 people watching this is your hobby you're very well informed for those that
29:26 you know your hobbies lies elsewhere yeah you know you're you're going to be
29:29 getting screwed by these companies um yeah I don't know
29:36 it's it's a sad topic that's that's all I really have to say it is depressing
29:41 and moving on to more depressing topics but kind of awesome at the same time top
29:46 websites have joined the internet slowdown day in symbolic protest of Fast
29:50 Lanes so if we can jump here to The Forum yet again
29:58 clicking on the scene that says Linus' screen is confusing when lonus is not
30:02 here um so a topic posted by Dietrich W
30:07 I hope I'm saying your name correct Le is showing how top websites join the
30:10 internet slow day we did not I'm sorry I wanted to I was very busy with my trip
30:16 down in Vegas um I was kind of hoping
30:19 that Mr Wizard was going to jump on that but I also didn't tell him to it was it
30:24 was a mess but I think enough of our
30:28 members go to enough websites that did
30:31 it that it was probably okay I know know that's not a very good excuse Netflix
30:35 did it I think Reddit did it which is huge yeah uh I wish I had a list here do
30:41 I have a list here of everyone that did uh yeah Reddit Vimeo Four Square
30:46 WordPress boing boing were among the major ones and you said Netflix did as
30:51 well which is pretty cool I don't actually know for a fact I didn't try it
30:55 but uh there was an announcement that I read that netfli said they were they
30:59 were joining so right uh where is it
31:02 here I wish I had metrics on how many
31:05 people emailed out due to that but the
31:08 the FCC website got a ton of comments
31:12 and emails and calls to different senators and stuff I'm not exactly sure
31:15 how American politics work but many things happened which should hopefully
31:20 help American politics I don't know basically that's about it join the
31:25 fastlane.com is a very I was just showing the doc again derp join the
31:29 fast.com this is this is a parody website which I don't know if you saw
31:33 this which is talking about um it's essentially pretending we're in
31:39 the future where there there is a fast
31:42 lane and there's all this bull crap I I didn't actually I wish I clicked this
31:45 link I'm I'm very interested it's pretty funny so so they they spoofed some
31:49 companies so there's video tube there's movie flicks and there's soundify
31:54 obviously instead of YouTube Netflix and Spotify so as you guys can see on here
32:00 soundify fast lane exclusive only available for Fast Lane subscribers uh
32:04 movie flick available 20 summer of
32:08 2018 uh which like you you get fast uh
32:11 essentially Netflix that's what they're trying to pretend they are uh titles but
32:15 then not everything is even available uh video tube you buy 500 megabytes of
32:21 priority streaming uh this is all super depressing stuff and obviously it might
32:25 be a little bit exaggerated once you get down to the prices I was
32:29 just waiting for you to scroll this is my favorite part yeah best deal extreme
32:33 $200 a month for 12 monthsa it's send unlimited emails
32:38 unlimited emails oh my God unlimited free download of The Fast laning client
32:43 which probably actually means 2,000 cuz every single time I see Unlimited on
32:47 anything there's fine print is like actually 2,000 so not unlimited at all
32:51 not even close there's definitely a cap which is very reachable
32:55 um it happens literally every month to like a lot of our subscribers uh yeah so
33:01 it's exaggerated but it's a really good point and I think I think it's it's
33:06 helpful to show off to people frag like a pro 15 bucks a month to get faster
33:10 Network speeds when you're playing games
33:13 like gross this is why we need net
33:17 neutrality to like take care of things
33:20 and make sure we don't all get completely screwed so again I don't have
33:24 a ton to add because American politics I don't really know it is very important
33:29 though and I have sent emails to FCC
33:32 people and stuff uh this was a while back I don't know if you can do it more
33:36 than once I should probably just do it again as maybe a different person or
33:40 something I didn't say that though you didn't hear that here um yeah I don't
33:45 know bad things we're going to move on to good things because things are
33:48 getting depressing what do you want to jump to I
33:52 don't know we have 900 series rumors may
33:57 not a bad idea it's kind of fun all right so Zotac GTX 970 and 980 prices
34:03 were leaked of course this is still kind of rumor mail level stuff um but
34:09 previous rumors had them at$ 3.99 for the 970 and $4.99 for the 980 and now
34:17 it's looking a little bit more extreme like the 980 being at around 700 to
34:22 $770 and the 970 being $430 to $500 um
34:27 but again these are rumors and one really big thing that I'm thinking about
34:31 which I've seen other people post so this isn't necessarily an original idea
34:35 I should bring this up rip I'm not usually the one that controls the screen
34:40 so it's very foreign for me to do this this was posted by Tech fanatic on the
34:44 Forum um our resident AMD awesome man
34:50 and I think a lot of it has to do with being being the first and leaking it and
34:56 I've heard somewhere that you can do pre-order so it's definitely going to be more
34:59 expensive if you're going to be able to pre-order we see that a lot of times with especially computer hardware where
35:03 in some Industries they're like $5 off if you pre-order or one really crappy
35:08 low grade skin that you're going to buy the other ones for anyways in a video
35:11 game um but in this one it's like no you pay more money so kind of unfortunate
35:17 I'm hoping that the price drops uh I know inidia was talking about how it's
35:21 supposed to be cheaper I'm hoping they weren't just saying how it would be cheaper for them to manufacture and
35:26 honestly I really expect that there's going to be pretty much no difference I
35:29 expect it to cost pretty much the exact same amount as this year's did I
35:34 wouldn't be surprised if the the tier grades cost the same amount as the
35:38 previous tier grades so a 980 will probably cost just as much as a 780 dead
35:44 why they skipped 800 oh and 300 I was confused enough
35:50 when they skipped 300 I'm like just why just why it's a name my buddy has a 460
35:56 I have a 260 is that massively better or
36:00 is that just like a normal amount better really kind of annoying I'm I'm
36:04 wondering you and I were actually speculating what what NVIDIA is going to
36:08 do yeah what are are they their number cap because
36:12 AMD not so great on the naming scheme not a fan it should not go 280 285 280X
36:20 that should never have been possible should not be a thing and I really hope
36:24 NVIDIA doesn't doesn't throw it under the bus we forgot to do a twist TW Blitz
36:28 Twitter Blitz Twitter Blitz we wanted to Twitter Blitz about um we're not going
36:32 to do it here actually we're going to do it on the desktop where it looks better
36:38 Twitter here we go so what we're talking about right now is the net neutrality
36:43 thing and um the 4 megabits per section
36:48 uh shouldn't be upped for Broadband so this guy says numbers on
36:53 net neutrality thing I'm not going to be clicking on very many links but this is fairly interesting you guys can't see
36:58 this very well here we go you guys can see it a little bit so 2, 39,500 people
37:04 took action 33,099 calls were made let try and
37:09 scroll down very small amounts uh there we go
37:13 2,679 to emails sent to Congress that's pretty intense
37:18 72236 4 comments filed to the FCC and
37:22 4.7 million comments filed since March 1st wow that's awesome good work
37:28 everyone but now we can't click on any more links because now the troll links
37:31 are just going to start exactly links are
37:34 done over no Rick asle uh at control alt
37:40 delete you know he got his Link in and it's it's over now good work at control
37:45 delete Ashley says four megabits per second is way too slow I think that's a
37:49 very accurate kind of General consensus someone else tweeted uh I want to get
37:54 his name here shoot I can't see it someone tweeted that his phone gets gets
37:59 better speeds it probably does it
38:02 probably does Cory Barnwell there we go Tommy Boy 5025 says there should not be
38:08 a set standard for Broadband as bandwidth is always increasing and
38:11 Broadband standards should move with the trend I completely agree um that's aces
38:15 in my book boy 5025 I think you already called them out fluid yeah fluid terms
38:20 should not be fixed they're fluid terms
38:23 it's literally in the name yep uh I don't know if that's actually the
38:27 official name for what they are but like it's it's not a static definition so it
38:30 shouldn't be a static definition that's what I'm trying to say uh another guy
38:34 confirming that 2 million people sent emails to Congress because the internet's slow day like how do they not
38:38 get this by now I it's money it's got to be America go
38:43 back to being land of the people claim what is rightfully
38:47 yours uh now if you buy out a Samsung
38:50 phone it's obviously more expensive no one should pay for a Samsung phone NEX
38:54 phone but when you get a plan like I do all the the time cuz I don't buy out my
38:58 phones cuz I'm not that balling we we've talked on the show before it it really
39:02 depends what's happening because if you're if you're jumping on a contract
39:06 that completely breaks the game if you're buying out of course I I don't
39:10 see anyone buying yeah I don't see anyone buy anything outside of like
39:14 Nexus OnePlus and maybe a motor maker phone so like a Moto X that's that's
39:20 pretty much maybe I'm wrong maybe there's something else in there I might be missing something I don't know anyone
39:24 who buys out a Samsung device yeah the
39:27 way I have mine the way my mom and dad have theirs the way my buddies had
39:32 theirs when they were grabbing S3s people are kind of splitting off now we had a big S3 rush in our group of
39:37 friends when it came out but uh yeah everyone seemed to grab one up but
39:41 they're all through contract and the contracts don't really change maybe
39:44 minorly you know maybe $50 or or nothing and that's on your startup for your
39:49 three years yeah so it kind of it's all different but uh yeah and I don't think
39:53 I can knock a mode anyways so moving on um
39:58 you know what just slow down the entire internet actually let's just kill it
40:02 it's the best option for them all I would prefer not I like my job yeah I
40:06 like the internets here here's the uh comment from Corey Barnwell that I
40:11 believe you read earlier my phone gets better speed than broadband that's just
40:15 like come on guys for most people four megabits per
40:19 second is fine Average Joe doesn't care about HD but improvements is always better especially for the future I don't
40:23 actually necessarily agree with you by the way you're awesome I met you at packs and that was actually really cool
40:28 but Average Joe is now watching Netflix
40:32 and Average Joe watching Netflix is going to tell when his screen goes and
40:36 looks more Pixy because Netflix jumps down a section because his internet
40:40 takes a tiny dip and he has crappy 4 megabit per second and probably isn't on
40:45 high def anyways and I know a lot of
40:48 Average Joe that are going to be watching Netflix on their TV are really
40:52 into the fact that they have a nice 1080p TV exactly and they're going to
40:56 notice with when their Netflix content looks way crappier than their other
41:00 content and they're going to want something more so I I don't actually
41:04 agree with you in this stance um because because of Average Joe watching so much
41:09 Netflix now if you go back a couple years see I can see where he's going
41:13 like I can see the idea behind um but
41:16 especially now with phones like you know you see all these Average Joe guys and I
41:19 know when I work with a lot of truckers who are just totally not in Tech at all
41:23 their phones are getting bigger and crazier and they like them you know what
41:26 I mean like when my my dad just picked up an S4 got it real cheap yeah would he
41:31 did not care about his phone he was telling me he wasn't going to go through with the deal if it wasn't you know if
41:35 it was too expensive he won't put it down he will not get off the phone cand
41:40 Crush Candy Crush that's not the only but he's playing a bunch of different
41:43 games and he's always like he's talking to it you know using Google now he's I
41:47 just bought him a CH cast yesterday you know what I mean he's using the Chromecast like he's all over it and uh
41:53 I think more and more people with the technology sitting in their hand you
41:56 know like got a background that when you swipe it changes blew her mind right
42:02 which is cool like she's happy I'm happy right everybody's happy but I think the
42:06 average Joe because of phones especially and because of Netflix like two things
42:10 basically television and the phone in their hands is becoming uh bigger
42:16 stronger devices which consume more inherently um I think the average Joe
42:20 staron talked about it we turned this blitz into a into a long discussion yeah
42:25 yeah we drove down camped out for the long battle um but yeah no it's the the
42:32 average Joe is starting to consume more and I think that ties back into a
42:35 comment that was said by someone else and by me earlier which is where it's a
42:39 fluid definition that's changing because what the average Joe is doing is fluid
42:43 and changing
42:48 uh I'm gon to go uh go the top I don't know how to
42:53 pronounce this name that's why I was kind of hovering above it
42:57 super cool but I don't know how to say that oh I'm going to say suin suin suin
43:03 d fuk fugang fugl he yeah too bad we get
43:08 a sound clip of him saying it yeah I have no sorry if I just butchered the
43:12 crap out of your name he says and that's why we don't like AT&T as a sponsor for
43:15 the show please jump on the Forum I think you'll be able to find the post
43:19 specifically through Linus's Twitter and he has a post talking about the
43:23 sponsorship thing way in there um because because lus will be reading
43:28 everything in that topic and we'll see where to go from there other than that
43:33 that's about all I have to say going up very slowly in the comments uh way more
43:39 notification no I shifted to the side here I'll move my laptop that you got a
43:44 room we're good uh I got 100 megabit
43:47 down and 5 megabit up I think IP should
43:50 really only stop should really stop only make a
43:56 synchron internet connection
44:02 avilable scroll down to the next one I
44:06 get way faster on my 4G than pile of crap 4 megabit per second that's
44:10 actually pretty Beast now I got a question for you and something that I
44:14 hope some of our viewers are wondering about because I've always wondered this cuz I've never done it have you ever
44:17 uploaded from your LTE phone we
44:21 did I don't remember what the results were because the stats it gives you are
44:25 insane and I just want to see if the stats actually measure up to real real
44:29 life experience but I guess that's one for another time but it's
44:34 it's I hear you again those are that'll
44:37 be Mega bit and a lot of times when you're doing file transfers the file
44:40 transfer is red in megabyte right so it doesn't feel like you're getting the
44:44 same you feel like you're getting jipped out but it's because there's that like 8X ratio between them because of like a
44:50 bit being a single I still pronounce it wrong and and mess them up I still I I
44:55 really got to tighten that down I noticed it in the it's a pet peeve for
44:58 me just because I've taken so many networking courses but I noticed it in
45:02 the intro I think oh did I do right bit
45:05 did um not a big deal poke plun uh says
45:09 I don't know what you get there in Vancouver but here in Edmonton 4 megabit
45:13 per se is considered value and um I hear
45:17 you the internet connections AR out here aren't fantastic either we have to pay a pretty hefty amount to get above that
45:22 but that doesn't mean that the definition should necessarily change just because the internet in Canada and
45:27 places like Australia I always have to call you guys out whenever we talk about
45:30 internet because it's horrible over there the next comment is actually
45:33 perfectly about Australia is it there we I'm I'm going to move down not to leave
45:38 you but keep talking about previous one um just because we are lagging behind
45:44 doesn't mean that the definition shouldn't change what people are trying
45:47 to do in our areas is still increasing
45:50 at the same rate we are getting these options that are available around the
45:54 world that's not necessarily true I was just going to say Netflix Netflix isn't
45:58 actually available everywhere no I think so is available around the world with
46:02 certain things like vpns which apparently makes you a pirate despite
46:06 paying for the service but whatever
46:09 um and and we the definition shouldn't
46:13 be held back by us just because our isps
46:16 are jerks and push people like Verizon out over the country when while I might
46:21 not necessarily be a huge fan of Verizon competition competition would have
46:25 helped and I was stoked for them coming in not because I would have switched to
46:30 their service but because hopefully our services would have either improved in
46:34 um their deployment so I would have been able to get a faster internet connection
46:38 or would have gone down in price I was hoping for honestly either one of those
46:43 um this is scary America is making Australian internet look good I don't
46:47 know if it's at that point yet I don't know because their internet connections
46:51 are still much faster in most places uh they're just not changing the
46:55 definition Australian internet's pretty bad man I know you're probably trying to
46:59 like give yourself a plus one but it's pretty bad
47:05 um a lot of people are just talking about using a VPN is not ation for badp
47:11 problems it may avoid IP filtering but doesn't solve the underlying problem I
47:15 completely agree with you that's not what I was trying to say I was just trying to say VPN so you could get
47:19 Netflix which is getting out of filtering um or allowing yourself to
47:23 actually buy the service or allowing yourself to get the American one which
47:27 usually has way more stuff on it I wasn't trying to say that you like yeah
47:32 that's that's not what I was trying to say I think we're done with Twitter Blitz for now that was like you said we
47:38 carved some trenches we did uh we dug deep we built fortresses we didn't
47:42 really Blitz we we we built a defensive line andow forward one we specifically
47:48 blitzed yes yeah yeah um but anyways
47:52 moving on I just I had forgotten that we had said we were going to do that
47:55 Twitter Blitz I'm going to jump down and do sponsor spots now because our
47:59 sponsors are awesome this week and
48:02 linda.com so if you go to linda.com wow
48:06 you get a free 7-Day trial I believe it was $25 a month if you want to jump on
48:09 it I know one of our editors Taran who's unfortunately out right now because
48:14 linda.com um couldn't teach them how to not have tendonitis because that they
48:19 don't even try that's makes no sense at all but it could teach him how to be a
48:23 better editor so he's been learning Premier tricks on there for a long time
48:27 and you can actually see that in a lot of our fastest Possible episodes because
48:30 he's done a lot of the editing for that and they're really just jump in again
48:34 complimenting you guys on the Forum I like it when you jump in because you
48:37 just make us look cool fast as possible is fantastic I love that stuff this is
48:42 not it isn't unfortunately my full-time job I don't get to delve into it
48:47 constantly it's an excellent Channel I've learned a bunch yeah part-time job
48:52 but I I have learned a bunch from that channel if you're unfamiliar with that
48:55 channel check it out it's a exactly as they say it is it's very quick it's very
48:59 efficient they get to the topic sometimes it's a little funny like you
49:02 get a little laugh in there you get a bunch of information and you're done it's it's beautiful sorry we're
49:07 constantly hunting for more definitions the way I like describing it we're we're
49:10 off the linda.com thing but the way I like describing it is if this is how I
49:14 describe it to non- techies because I'm trying to like make them understand what
49:18 the point of the channel is because there's stuff on there for techies too because there's some pretty highend
49:22 terms but there's also like very simple things as well so how I
49:26 try to describe it is if you walk into a store and you're reading a label and you don't understand one of the terms on the
49:30 label you should be able to go to Techquickie type in that term and there
49:34 should be a fastest Possible episode on it a great way to describe it and if there isn't yet suggest it to us and
49:39 we'll try to get one done anyways linda.com can teach you a whole wack ton
49:44 of stuff uh they I think they have over like thousands of courses and they add
49:48 new ones all the time so it's great uh and I especially suggested I do this
49:52 every single time I talk about linda.com but I especially suggest it for people
49:56 that are say in high school and want to even if you're not but say this is my
50:00 use case specifically if you're in high school and you're into programming and
50:04 you want to go to postsecondary for programming you can get a huge massive
50:08 very uh like noticeable leg up on people
50:12 by jumping on linda.com and learning things like Java and Python and your
50:16 your more introductory languages because you'll probably be learning that for if
50:21 not your first term your first two terms
50:24 like there a lot of different places are they start you off with Java and stuff
50:28 so if you can learn the fundamentals before you go to school to learn the
50:31 fundamentals you'll you'll get really good grades in those classes and be
50:35 rolling more easily and then when they when they hit you with new stuff it'll
50:38 be easier for you to transition because you'll hopefully be still carrying along with linda.com it'll be just less
50:43 stressful that's that's exactly my point
50:46 and you can manage uh you can you can deal with other stuff which could be
50:49 stressful like living in a new area and have not having your friends there and
50:53 having to figure out how to buy food and dealing with having no money and other
50:57 stuff you have a lot of stuff to deal with I think we both went through it yeah kind of different experiences but
51:01 kind of the same and again he wasn't joking they're going to hit you with
51:04 Java if you were going down this path they're going to hit Java not every
51:07 school hits you with Java immediately but I I can pretty much guarantee you
51:11 that you'll be learning Java at some point tryy and Escape it there there's your challenge yeah despite what I may
51:15 think of java not a huge fan personally
51:19 um you you'll you'll learn it at some point the next sponsor is kind of a show
51:24 actually it's mod 24 it's happening on September mber 18th at 6 p.m. lus and I
51:29 have to somehow figure out how to survive for 20 hours on stream I was
51:32 going to add that Nick was going over the schedule and I was kind of listening
51:36 while I was I was prepping for the for the show we're doing
51:42 here I know you're pretty tough I know you're pretty tough you know and someone
51:46 was asking I am the older brother I brought you up a little tough I think yeah good
51:51 luck it's going to be rough you were in for it ah yeah my intro thing was if we
51:58 don't die it'll be an interesting stream and if we fantastic stream I thought
52:02 that you know they're assuming there's much more exaggeration than what is actually going on your guys' schedule is
52:07 nuts we're going to be working a full day the day before and then we're going
52:10 to have to plan and pack and everything that night and then take off at a pretty
52:14 early flight land have two or three
52:18 hours before we have to be at meetings for the pre-show then stream for 24
52:22 hours and then do the W show right right
52:26 afterwards so we're going to get
52:30 like six seven hours of sleep and then
52:33 be awake for like 40 hours yep and be on
52:37 camera for like almost the whole duration no it'll be probably 25 and a
52:42 half hours on camera yeah cool uh don't know how we're going
52:48 to survive that I know we have a few plans kind of that we're bouncing back and forth like kind of shift work kind
52:53 of thing one thing I really want to do which I don't know if going to be able
52:56 to get working is if you've watched the the old Iron Chef not the American Iron
53:01 shf I don't remember where it was actually technically from but the old Iron Chef uh when when the guy goes out
53:07 amongst the cooks he like squeeze on this is happening super cool I want
53:12 to be that guy I want to be out amongst the builders uh squeeze on or sorry
53:17 lonus this this cool guy is cooking up an amazing computer uh I don't know I
53:22 think that could be awesome so tune in 600 p.m. September 18th watch L and I
53:27 die while a whole bunch of modders try to actually make really cool systems
53:31 there's three teams there will be one Champion come watch to figure out who it
53:34 will be come check it out I'll be watching it on my my second monitor
53:37 there I'll be in chat so I'm I'm G to try and pay attention to the chat as
53:41 much as I possibly can and see if someone can make it through the entire
53:45 time oh wow see yeah there the one name
53:48 and like I'm going to track you too I want you to show up to W show as well O
53:53 So 25 and a half hours I want to see if anyone can make it cuz I don't know it's
53:57 going be pretty intense we will see and that's it for sponsor segmenty stuff and
54:03 types and things I feel like Philip Franco uh types some things type some
54:08 things yeah Destiny makes two uh almost just said $250 million the real number
54:13 sounded too ridiculous Destiny makes $500 million in the first 24 hours of
54:19 sales which is insane it is the biggest
54:22 new IP launch in gaming history the previous record was held by watchdogs
54:26 although the totals are not readily
54:29 available probably because after their immediate launch the sales went like
54:33 that because it was not what it was said to be and I know the PC guys at least
54:38 were totally not stoked and I know the console guys were like it's not really
54:43 as cool as you thought it was going to be
54:46 th a pretty interesting word yeah everyone got it said it was going to be
54:52 um it is the highest selling one day
54:56 digital console release in history which that's not nearly as surprising because
55:01 as time goes on we're doing a lot more digital
55:04 stuff now with all that said are you excited for the PC
55:08 version like if I said that wrong if
55:11 there is a PC version yeah if that world
55:15 exists as far as I know it's kind of a no at this point but at the same time as
55:20 far as I know they haven't actually said no which as far as we've seen
55:26 is actually pretty indicative that it will happen just months later yeah
55:30 exactly probably after the seon yeah exactly G when no one has any money left
55:35 in January I think 27th GTA 5 uh it'll
55:40 come out at the worst possible time I'm I'm pretty stoked it looks cool to be
55:44 honest I just it doesn't look by a console cool no I haven't seen anything
55:49 that looks by console possible yeah yeah
55:53 well buy a nextg console cool I know many things that are by a console cool
55:57 because they're on Wii U I was just going to say Wii U Wii U is pretty awesome and I still
56:02 think it has more high def games than
56:06 next gen I wonder how long that'll last that's pretty great hopefully forever um
56:11 yeah with the new like Smash Bros coming out and stuff and those new DLC for
56:14 Mario Kart I'm pretty stoked on Wii U lately I don't know it's it's
56:17 interesting that they made a whole butt ton of money but I I don't really care that much because it's not on PC at
56:21 least yet are you are you interested for it
56:25 coming to PC is that I am and I think it's completely because of all the
56:29 history with Halo yeah like I I fell off kind of at 3 but one and two were huge
56:35 like two that was when I was going um very small school in the states and the
56:40 school was very Tech focused and so we all had land Connections in our room
56:45 which was kind of a bigger deal because it was 2006 yeah and we all plugged in a
56:49 lot of guys had Xboxes and we would play Halo against each other and it landed
56:53 incredibly well it worked incredibly well and we had t
56:57 are legit Halo lands are Halo 2 was huge you know when we'd be in our dorm rooms
57:01 and you know you'd kill somebody and then you'd hear them running down the hall and they'd hit you with something
57:05 you know like nothing ever like you know a pillow or something you know what I
57:08 mean like or they'd yell at you and then they run back to their room and maybe
57:12 you could kill them before they got there you know but there was just it was
57:15 a lot of good warm fuzzy feelings you know that came from playing that game um
57:21 so yeah it kind of has me a little bit excited I'm also kind of excitable but
57:24 uh hopefully you know if comes out it could be pretty cool cuz the other thing
57:28 is just to keep rambling on about it there's not a lot of PC shooters that
57:32 have me really excited right now you know there's go um but counter- strike
57:36 will always be a thing yeah hopefully and it's continuing to grow
57:39 Counterstrike goes great check that out but there's not a lot of like lately the
57:43 games I've been playing there's really no shooters that I can really maybe I'm
57:46 missing something maybe you guys let me know in the twitch chat or maybe you can let me know but I'm not aware of any big
57:52 shooters that I'm really interested in right now because Cod just like drained
57:56 the whole killed the industry yeah I'm wondering if someone's going to pipe up
58:00 in twitch chat and bring up a name of a shooter that I haven't really been
58:03 thinking of Tribes Ascend yeah but also
58:07 no Tri that's something I could look into see CS TF2 I did play TF2 when it
58:13 originally came out but it's not I I think you're talking more about new
58:16 games a lot of people are saying toxic that's a good point um toxic I don't
58:20 know much about out yet though I knew somebody would let us know
58:24 why is it not doing the scrolling thing but toxic is supposed to be a PC only
58:28 thing right I can't even select the chat to Google search it right now it's uh
58:32 it's not spelled right though I talked to it on a previous stream I know I have
58:36 it's yeah it's it's spelled weird it's
58:39 someone will say it right Warframe not into Warframe played that wasn't super
58:44 stoked I haven't heard of toxo that's definitely something I have to look it's
58:47 so hard to read it's going so quickly and it's not
58:51 doing the scroll lock thing for some reason
58:54 tox I I think I saw that tox I
59:00 KK you got that you got that backwards a little bit
59:06 TX ik KK there we go there we go okay now I
59:11 think this is like a PC only I'm actually pretty stoked for this I can't
59:14 believe I didn't think about this I talked about it on a on a stream earlier
59:18 it's my favorite thing about their trailers they talk about all the things it's not there's no like leveling system
59:23 there's no none of that crap and then they're like free to play and I'm like
59:29 oh God and then not and I'm like yeah I
59:33 was so happy man it was so good I
59:36 remember that stream now because I was watching the trailer uh yeah you you'll be able to
59:41 you don't even really need the music to be completely honest so you can check that out and maybe I'll move on but this
59:45 is actually a super cool trailer Yeah by
59:48 reactor they like spelling things all craziness back to its roots it's
59:53 actually pretty cool so it's it it looks kind of unre no yeah no classes no
59:57 leveling system like all this kind of stuff and it's nice because it's a trailer for a game where they're like we
60:01 don't have all this junk instead of look we have all this junk it's like it kind
60:05 of looks like Halo 1 and two the feel like you were saying unreal it's kind of
60:11 yeah I see the Halo one and two stuff not exactly obviously but yeah no reload
60:17 I actually think that's super cool Rel I know we're not showing this on stream
60:20 I'm sorry guys it's on the wrong thank you to those who threw that in the chat
60:23 because again this is something I just wasn't aware of yeah I told forgot yeah
60:26 frag leg this 1999 I thought that was cool double jumps Dodge and double jumps
60:30 super cool yet again I'm okay with the vehicle stuff I'm sure they'll have uh
60:35 levels without vehicle stuff like this one probably yeah which again you guys
60:39 can't see I'm sorry apparently the toxic site went down good work
60:45 everyone well done fantastic you got to
60:48 go you got to go back a little B see the freeto playay not thing okay it's at the
60:53 very end but either way I was pretty stoked for that
60:57 actually Luke are you going to Iraq
61:01 nope I don't think they're going to have any Tech conventions there for a while I
61:05 saw that in the twitch chat I was I was clicking back to the dock and I was just
61:08 like I feel like I need to address this one I don't know if there's maybe a
61:12 rumor going around or something but no um Windows 9 screenshots have leaked and
61:17 they look pretty much exactly like we kind of thought they looked now are you
61:22 excited for Windows 9 I am because it's not Windows 8 uh um which I know that's
61:27 super basic but it's also the second like XP was good right yeah should we
61:32 even the one after that was not good
61:35 lonus likes it cuz he's crazy balls u lonus liked it cuz he had like 24 gigs
61:39 of RAM and the fact that it was super inefficient didn't matter because he's
61:43 like I have a lot of RAM so it should be okay for everyone I'm like that's not
61:47 how that works if he went down to four could he notice the difference um he might uh seven I like
61:55 seven seven was great and then I'm not a huge fan of eight at all not a huge fan
62:00 of eight either I think there's definitely some improvements there's stuff like every once in a while I'm
62:03 like oh man that file transfer is so cool it is the file transfer is cool and
62:07 like task managers task manager fantastic if you could take Windows 7
62:12 give me that transfer and give me the task manager and the performance Windows 8.1 actually performs better in games
62:16 than Windows 7 does true which isy take
62:19 those three attach those to Windows 7
62:22 super stoked I'm happy for a decade like I and then the next thing is I just
62:26 don't like how it looks which brings us to Windows 9 I don't really like the
62:31 blocky style the squares the rectangles I don't Windows 7 looks really good look
62:36 at this start button down in the corner oo yeah it's nice it's a circle it's
62:41 like they made a square image and put a circle in the middle and then had a
62:45 transparent background whoa groundbreaking instead of putting a big
62:52 color on the screen and then putting a white block for whatever your icon is
62:55 for everything why are you doing that stop
62:59 it doesn't no go away I don't know this might not be shed for everyone it's an
63:02 aesthetic thing so there's definitely people out there that are going to like it um and that's just me but there's
63:08 some cool stuff I don't actually mind the new start menu I'm hoping that it
63:11 has a few different things I'm hoping one that there is an option to get rid
63:15 of the metro styly stuff on the right even though I will leave it on if you're
63:20 able to custom configure everything that's there which I'm sure you're able to because it would be cool to be able
63:24 to put different games and stuff especially if games mainly mainly games
63:30 um and not like their games app but individual games would have these
63:34 different size block icons that you could utilize because that could be
63:37 pretty cool especially if like the main game that you play if you wanted the wide landscape mode button for it and it
63:43 had like a really cool looking Metro button or if you could pick what is the
63:48 image for that button right you upload your own or screenshot your own and crop
63:52 it and then put it on which that might even be a thing I think that could be
63:56 pretty cool it could be pretty cool so I don't necessarily mind that something I
63:59 stole from you which I'm not even sure if you do still but is no icons on your
64:03 deskop yeah I do that I still do that it's sweet it looks so cool I can't even
64:07 it was so long ago that I was like your icons are gone and I was a little
64:11 confused but it was beautiful at the same time and then I completely adopted
64:15 that and I still do that today so like you were saying if you could have that
64:18 as you can see on well you can't see my hand here but if you could change those
64:21 icons out you could have your beautiful desktop background with your beautiful
64:25 monitor that you paid a bunch of money for and everything just looks great and
64:28 then when you open your start menu you can have all the icons you want with the
64:31 pictures you want really cool because if you if you do all the pictures you want
64:34 for the for the again I'm going to say games but I just the reason why I'm
64:38 saying games isn't necessarily just because we're Gamers but it's because I
64:41 feel like you get a lot of really cool artwork yeah so I think it makes sense
64:46 um I'm I'm excited I I think it'll do pretty well I'm just looking at the chat
64:49 there seems to be a lot of people who do like Windows 8 and I don't hate Windows
64:53 8 but there's some things I I don't really appreciate for me it's like the deeply rooted
64:57 permission stuff um and I know you can get
65:01 around a lot of the start menu problems which is why I haven't brought that up
65:05 by installing your own start menus and stuff which you should not have to do
65:09 for one but I find whenever I use Windows 8 for an extended period of time
65:13 no matter what I do something always creeps
65:17 through something will always creep through and mess with me I know I know
65:20 taran's system has serious issues because he's running dual monitors which
65:23 should not be a thing I don't like that yeah the the the the the like highlight
65:28 popup stuff which you can make go away but then sometimes it's frustrating
65:32 again the search is just craptastic I
65:35 don't know I'm not I felt like the Windows 7 search was completely Superior
65:39 yeah I for at least how I use it uh the Windows 7 search I I felt was a lot
65:44 better yeah native arrow is good as was
65:48 happy to see I mean I'm happy to see that
65:53 um yeah I don't know not a ton of
65:56 information just some random like screenshot leaks I know Microsoft has
65:59 not commented yet
66:05 um let me see here I pretty excited for it though I yeah they're still not uh
66:09 finalized The Verge says that the screenshots are genuine so honestly they
66:13 probably are um that new search button thing just just to the right of start
66:18 there's a like a magnifying glass search button thing despite there being a
66:21 search thing on the start so I'm not sure what that's there for
66:26 um I guess we'll see you later and Microsoft has not commented sorry what
66:29 were you saying I was just saying I'm I'm pretty excited for Windows 9 yeah I
66:34 think a lot of things could come together to make a a really great operating system again again uh just
66:39 like we did with Windows 8 probably not immediately at launch but a little bit
66:44 afterwards we'll do performance benchmarks because that's one really big
66:47 thing with Windows 8 is you get better system performance uh especially when
66:50 playing games it's like a huge awesome benefit yep definitely uh uh um here's
66:57 an interesting article that I'm not really sure what I feel about uh
67:01 including with the guy who posted its name
67:05 because this was posted by anal
67:10 powder I was just going to call him uh butt powder but butt powder AP when I
67:15 was casting some Starcraft there was an individual named um poo to Great
67:21 Starcraft player I remember that intelligent person
67:26 why would he name himself that I don't know but we would refuse uh the guy I
67:29 was casting with him myself we would absolutely refuse to call him that so
67:32 we'd come up with an absolute abundance
67:35 of of ways to refer to him um but yeah
67:38 we just refused so we can you can do that with for members too you know you
67:42 could change it up as much as you want I'm going to call him baby powder access
67:46 point access point because AP I like it
67:49 I like it you are now named access point so access point on the for anyways the
67:54 gtx980 will not beat gForce GTX 780 Ti
67:58 this was on kit Guru and that's actually all I'm really going to show of that
68:01 screen because it's not helpful to you guys see that because it's all text um
68:07 and apparently what's going on here is the GM 204 chip is not supposed to
68:12 replace or outperform gk10 necessarily
68:16 so cards like 780ti and Titan black
68:20 should apparently not outperform a 980
68:24 because it's not supposed to replace those ones it's more there to replace GK
68:29 104 which
68:32 is I guess maybe but all this really
68:36 means is that when they launch with their Flagship of 980 and then tear down
68:41 a little bit we're just going to have to wait even longer for them to release
68:46 like 980 TI and then that one will be faster than
68:50 the 780 Ti I guess it's a little bit weird again we're getting swamped in not
68:56 very good graphics card naming schemes
69:00 why is that a thing could that just not be a thing we just write a letter with a
69:05 pen and like paper and an envelope you know those letter things that we used to
69:09 have can we write a letter and be like please stop I wonder if
69:13 thatp stop stop just I wonder if that
69:16 would work for net neutrality if we wrote physical letters we like hey can
69:20 you read this maybe you can't read emails cuz your internet's so bad you
69:25 think Broadband at 04.5 megabits per sec
69:28 or megabytes per second is a thing I don't know of course reading emails on
69:32 that is fine I just feel like naming shouldn't be hard no like I just I don't
69:37 know if if I don't know also the cards
69:41 are said to have uh 4 gigabytes of gdr 5
69:44 which is not necessarily higher than certain other cards but other later
69:49 versions like custom cooler featured cards should have 8 GB maybe we're
69:54 expecting that would be option so it's not super surprising rumors just kind of
69:59 disappointing because we're all hoping for that Flagship card to just Crush everything in its path and move on so
70:04 it's it's possible that it will not again though nothing's released and we
70:09 have no official benchmarking numbers so let's all just kind of hold tight and
70:13 wait because that makes the most sense in my opinion and then we will see what
70:17 happens next up I keep on going to reach to change what screen I'm on before I've
70:21 opened the correct uh screen next up is
70:25 a cursed entity talking about how the uh GTX 770 will be have a reduced price
70:30 lots of NVIDIA news this week but this is actually kind of AMD news at the same
70:34 time because they're reducing this price for it to compete with the 285 because
70:38 the 760 uh kind of lost and that was its
70:42 thre competition so I think they're dropping the 770 to try and make it look
70:45 more attractive for people looking at that price point I believe it is still
70:49 uh like $25 more roughly the same price as Factory
70:53 overclock 285 so not reference ones uh
70:57 it's it's about $25 American more
71:00 expensive than the cheapest 285 uh interesting I don't know I'm not
71:06 surprised at all NVIDIA seems to be doing this and this actually ties into
71:10 the talk earlier where we were saying even if we didn't want to switch to
71:13 Verizon it still would have been better that they came into Canada because
71:17 competition Nidia would not have dropped this price if it wasn't for the 285
71:21 coming in and actually doing quite well the 285 didn't come in and look very
71:26 attractive for people wanting to buy graphics cards NVIDIA wouldn't have
71:29 dropped the price of the 770 because all they're trying to do is they saw the
71:35 possibility of a surge of people no longer buying their graphics cards and
71:38 they were like hey you should probably buy our graphics cards because look oh
71:42 my God they're cheaper now and they wouldn't have done that if it wasn't for
71:46 285 coming in and stomping them no of course not yeah um yeah that's again
71:53 that's about it there's not a ton of in-depth stuff for the graphics card news this week but I don't know still
71:59 still interesting it's another as if we needed more of them reference as to why
72:05 competition is good the next article that we have we're looking at the dock
72:09 again which is fantastic the next article that we have is uh by Victoria
72:14 Secret and this is the article that we were talking about this is an amazing
72:18 Forum post yes what kind of started me on that launch of you know you guys are
72:22 doing a fantastic job um this one
72:25 started so if you scroll with me yeah we're going to look at the sizes here iPhone 5S sporting a 4 in screen uh I
72:31 know my grandfather was up visiting for a little bit he's got a 5S um it really
72:35 felt tiny it felt small minuscule maybe I guess you could say apple realized
72:40 this and kind of I'm kind of a hater um
72:43 the iPhone 6 will now have a 4.7 in screen and the plus will come out with a
72:48 5.5 in screen um so they're going big I
72:52 I found it quite interesting that they didn't even have an option at all for a
72:58 4in screen which would have parred their previous phone especially with how jobs
73:03 always used to talk about offering the like the the I don't remember what he
73:08 called that size but like what he kind of thought was the best size the optimal
73:11 they're going completely away from what he said they were going to do they would
73:16 never release a budget iPhone iPhone 5c came out very quickly they would never
73:20 release a tablet I believe he stated what size the iPad Mini is smaller than
73:24 that so they're actually going away from a lot of things that he said they would do well we'll see how it plays out for
73:29 them in the long run um because if you look at the history of Apple basically I'm going to guess not well yeah it it
73:35 could it could get worse for them like there's silly things like um I think you
73:38 can see it on the screen right now we're seeing that the iPhone is Getting
73:41 Thinner oh God which I don't believe even I'll find the camera at
73:46 my at my fire hall there's a guy who has every Mac device on the planet his whole
73:51 ecosystem is is Mac he had the 3Gs the
73:54 four the 4S the 5 the 5S will now have the 6 Plus um he's confirmed with me no
74:00 one cares about the thinness of this phone no one does what they do care
74:05 about is the battery which they instead
74:08 of you know keeping the phone at that 7.6 millimeter which I can't tell you
74:12 what half a millimeter is I I can't do that Canadian school I can't do that
74:16 with my fingers it's too small um
74:19 where's the really the battery should have been improved is what is what I'm trying to say yeah there's what there
74:24 this is the picture that I liked no it wasn't where is it he has one in here
74:28 one his post is so good that there's too much
74:31 information uh it's not in the watch stuff so I'll jump back up to here you
74:35 can see a big bump on the camera I'm going to circle with my mouse right now
74:39 big old bump and what a ton of people have been saying this is we're not the
74:43 first people to say this at all is they should have just left the phone a little
74:46 bit thicker and not had a freaking bump on the camera and had a bigger
74:51 battery how did you not think of these things I know why because you don't have
74:55 jobs anymore what are you doing my this
74:58 is going to be a little odd comment but if it's laying down flat how is that
75:02 bump going to awkwardly affect how it sits also if it moves across like a
75:06 table if there's something to catch where it would be sliding you know flat
75:11 will it catch will that become a problem will become possibly be good for it a
75:15 fragile point will it I'm assuming now I don't know and I probably should have
75:19 looked into this that they're going to have like a bumper style cases which
75:23 will I'm sure the camera I'm I'm sure
75:26 the cases will have to coordinate for it but a big thing is I know you've said
75:30 that you don't like cases on your phone no like one of your big problems with and we forgot to actually talk about the
75:34 actual how this the Note 4 is constructed yeah you're a really big fan
75:39 of How It's Made very solid you really hated the backs on the old Samsung
75:43 phones right personally I don't really care that much because if I grab my
75:47 phone I'm pretty much always going to have one of these guys on it yeah I don't have my phone on me but I pretty
75:53 much never have a case on it but it's just it's an excellent and we don't
75:56 actually differ on that much but that's just one of the random things that we differ on but it makes a difference how
76:00 your phone is going to fit especially with a premium device yeah it matters
76:04 how your phone is going to fit without a case without that extra you know
76:09 protection it needs to function on its own so people like Luke and and people
76:13 like yourself can can have that experience how I know because and I was
76:17 really excited when I saw this video because I was like Yay he agrees with me
76:20 uh but Marcus brownley released a video on why he doesn't use a case on his
76:24 phone so so if he's releasing that video that automatically means that a whole
76:27 bunch of people aren't going to be doing it because yeah a lot of people follow him which is fantastic cuz he's really
76:31 good that he does um but you can't just
76:36 I don't know it seems like such a crap
76:39 compromise and not something that would have been done if Steve Jobs was still
76:43 there to leave the ship I I I just make
76:46 it that what was it 0 five I could be wrong got to scroll back up here to see
76:49 the numb I believe .5 mm like you know take it up to that slightly slightly
76:54 larger thickness that no one cares about
76:58 and insert a better battery you know just grab grab some more milliamps that
77:02 like your the biggest conversation that goes around right now with smartphones and even smart watches is battery
77:08 batteries and smart watches is huge we're going to talk about the 360 in a
77:11 minute or two here first we'll talk about the Apple watch I almost said I
77:15 watch batteries are a huge deal batteries are what's holding back the
77:19 entire industry you could put an i7 in your phone you can't power it you know
77:24 batter batteries I'll stop my rant right there but batteries are the issue one of
77:28 my favorite things I'm trying to find it right now here it is yeah uh I like his
77:34 commentary Victoria's Secret commentary through this amazing post uh oh [ __ ]
77:38 it's about to go down sorry for swearing um I think and then it's like one more
77:42 thing which you're at an Apple conference so just so you know we're not
77:46 done yet because they say one more thing every single time then he's like watch I
77:51 mean con no I mean watch uh awesome I
77:55 love his commentary through this it's fantastic I I really like what U brown
77:59 ninja and Victoria Secret have been doing making their posts very much their
78:03 own um their watch looks super boring
78:07 except for the band which is awesome but then again the actual watch is like not
78:11 interesting at all um I've heard tell
78:14 that the 18 karat gold version is going to be like $1600 or ,700 or something if
78:19 you're buying an 18 karat gold version Apple watch you're probably not watching
78:23 this let's just be serious yeah and you probably don't care that it's that expensive but still um they they they do
78:29 other than the ridiculous things that are potentially on your screen with the
78:33 icons they do look pretty cool um
78:36 because of the band again and all the different customizable options you can
78:39 have with the band they're nailing the band which I believe other SmartWatches
78:43 aren't yes necessarily but they're nailing the
78:46 band especially the qualcom talk they didn't nail the band on that one but the
78:50 not necessarily the actual watch this like weird astral storm of icon bubbles
78:55 that you have to like zoom in on with your side dial what the heck excuse me
79:00 what the heck is that it it moved him to hiccups it that's how amazing that was
79:04 what the heck is that what is going on they're saying they're saying that it's
79:08 it's not it's not big enough of a screen to propably do like pinch and whatever
79:13 unpinch is what is this the moving your fingers naming it
79:19 unpinch okay uh fing spre they say it's
79:22 not big enough to do that properly with then don't don't don't the other eyew
79:26 watches actually get or eye watches don't the other smart watches get around
79:30 that you sound like those I'm going to segue a little bit you sound like those uh the the the the NFL guys that called
79:36 they're calling all the surface they put what is it like $440 million NFL got a
79:40 $400 million contract to to show off the
79:44 Microsoft Surface and then the announcers called them iPads then they
79:48 keep calling them iPads oh and imagine
79:52 you were the Microsoft rep I would be so
79:55 cheesed how can you not be cheesed they're they're literally advertising
79:59 for their opponents after they put in a ton of money and if you look um I
80:04 actually saw a picture on that same article when they go see the replay like
80:07 the side of it says Microsoft Surface HD and all this kind of stuff they have the
80:11 naming in the appropriate spots but and they even have these these coaches where
80:15 if you don't follow football you won't you won't know any of the names but that's totally fine they have these
80:18 older School coaches using them and S and actually using them on the site not
80:22 just product play like they're actually using them it's kind of a big deal and it's
80:27 especially bringing advertisement um to a market that might not be extremely
80:31 educated on things like the surface yeah and yeah wow screwed by the announcers
80:36 it's just ridiculous not even in the dock I just I thought about it no it's
80:40 not said the the I your dog is up
80:45 again there we go I'm in the right one God I'm never the one that controls the
80:49 screen so it's so weird for me to do it now um again the bands look really cool
80:54 but I'm just super not stoked and speaking of super not stoked let's move
80:59 on to the Moto 360 because I was like I
81:03 am going to buy this and then now that people have actually been talking about
81:07 it you guys were talking about on your last stream I believe you were saying
81:10 you might be yeah cuz I was pretty sold on a Moto 360 and a Moto X and now I'm
81:14 not entirely not entirely sure if I'm sold on either awkward it's been one
81:21 week that's Tech that's why we need fluid definitions oh yes things change
81:26 in a week exactly in a week yeah um
81:30 speaking of you Broadband jumping down here a little bit this is geekbench this
81:36 is not what we're looking for battery life Android Wear notification
81:40 test what's up Moto 360 verle nothing's
81:44 up they're dead they're recharging right now I am interested in like I'm hoping
81:49 we get one for review not even necessarily to keep it because I want to
81:53 actually it and see how long it actually
81:57 lasts um because and how useful you find
82:00 it that's the thing I'm really cuz a watch is a fashion statement now can you
82:04 combine that fashion statement with you know some interesting notifications and
82:08 interacting with your phone well and staying alive that's a big thing it's
82:12 just dead on your wrist what's the point but right sorry I'm going to interject
82:16 you for when you said Staying Alive the first thing that clicked in my head was like survivability like it it maybe has
82:21 a detachable knife or something I don't know sorry keep going
82:25 um I don't know I'm just I'm I know you guys were talking about it last week and
82:30 this is completely your guys's industry and it makes sense I know lonus is all
82:33 about it and that's awesome we need people like that I'm not sold on SmartWatches yet yeah they have not sold
82:38 me and the 360 sold me on the look yeah
82:41 and I I believe we have a comment here I'm not even going to try a shot at that
82:45 calls the 360 beautiful outside ugly inside it is beautiful on the outside
82:48 it's the first one that I've even thought that the Apple watch you know usually the band is nice they're well
82:53 known the band is nice they're well known for making visually appealing to
82:57 most people um products I'm not sold you
83:01 know I'm I'm just really not sold on the whole Market there's my lius uses it and
83:06 like honestly if I didn't know lonus so well and if I didn't work with him I
83:10 probably wouldn't be sold on them either but seeing him use it through his
83:14 day-to-day and seeing his use case for it makes way more sense and has me
83:18 interested in it because he's not trying to see that's awesome to he he just
83:22 reads it so if he receives a text he can go like this go okay not necessarily
83:28 important don't have to deal with it right now and goes back to what he's doing another thing I read online um
83:32 that was interesting was it's because we have the whole kind of push I forget
83:35 what it's called but you remember when you know you put your phones in the middle of the table when you're out to
83:39 eat you can't pick up your phone and phone stack yeah things like that it
83:43 kind of helps enable things like that because you're looking at your wrist and
83:46 you're reading something you're and you're putting it away without the whole I'm bringing my phone the problem with
83:50 phone stack is emergency calls yeah so
83:54 if if you get a call from like your mom maybe you can break the phone stack game
83:58 but if you get a call from your buddy then you can be like H I can't pick it
84:01 up because it's just my buddy and that makes more sense um but just the idea of
84:05 keeping your phone in your pocket a little bit more and trying to get away
84:08 from us that's exactly because I feel like I get a lot of messages like emails
84:14 and whatnot all the time and I I'm constantly checking my phone but a lot
84:17 of the time it's like oh I went to another convention and I had to sign up
84:21 for my badge and you have to put your email in and it's another tech conven so
84:24 they give it to every single vendor and host there so I'm just getting spammed
84:29 like crap and it's another email that I don't need to check but it has me
84:33 constantly doing this and it would be nice if I could just look at my watch
84:37 and go oh it's spam and then just be like whatever I'll deal with it later
84:40 and then once I get down to a desktop just select a whole bunch of things and
84:44 Report spam and then move on yeah well another thing um that just kind of
84:48 popped into my mind because I'm always worried about battery life is would that
84:52 not inherently the battery life on your phone using
84:56 your watch but you are constantly
84:59 pushing through with Bluetooth that's
85:02 true yeah interesting unfortunate good
85:06 point I wonder how much Bluetooth pushes compared to turning your screen on every
85:10 like it's actually right when you said that like I know it drains because of
85:14 the Bluetooth but I'm really interested now in a benchmark comparing that H
85:18 because screen kills especially like we're looking at this iPhone with a 5
85:22 point five 5.5 I think it is screen yeah I
85:26 think 5.7 is the Note 4 and Note 3 um I
85:30 don't have it up anymore but that screen that's what kills your battery you know
85:34 is having that screen on like people would complain like I use mine a ton at
85:37 work for GPS it's not the GPS that's killing the battery it's that the fact
85:41 that your screen is constantly on you know constantly being lit that's what
85:45 kills your battery so yeah that that would be an interesting little test I would like to try that because
85:48 especially with like my Moto X and stuff I can pull it out without fully turning the screen on because it just has the
85:53 quick notification
86:01 Ito low power or whatever anyways a lot
86:04 of this is due to it using a 1 gz single core Texas Instruments omap 3 so which
86:10 so that's straight out of the old calculators from grade eight or is that
86:15 that's pretty ghetto that's a 2010 era processor when you're like oh 2010
86:18 wasn't that long ago when you're talking about mobile game 2010 is ancient um mom
86:23 has a a tablet that I looked it up is
86:26 from 2011 it feels like a dinosaur yeah yeah exactly you know in this in this
86:31 technology it is that's a dinosaur it it's in the same league as the iPhone 4
86:35 not even 4S or the Nexus one uh it's
86:40 it's I don't even know what they were thinking it's what is it 48 nanometer
86:44 process I don't see it in the notes 45 nanometer process which like dudes how
86:48 did you think that was possibly going to be super great on battery life um it
86:53 it's it's slow it's battery up to par is not up to par scrolling performance is
86:57 not great and like I know people talk about how performance benchmarks on
87:01 watches are kind of dumb and honestly I kind of think they are too but if it
87:04 lags when you're trying to scroll through that's a problem it's going to
87:09 look bad it's going to feel uncomfortable that's not going to be good at all I just totally lost internet
87:14 which is not good um I lost it earlier
87:17 actually but uh it came back but yeah
87:20 it's I think you were saying you don't really like benchmarks on on watches on
87:25 wearable things like that but I think the most notable one to pay attention to
87:28 is the battery life yeah battery life Benchmark is huge because these these
87:33 thing they're not going to last for multiple days you know I think it was the pebble that has the ink push I'm
87:37 saying that wrong and I'm sure I'll be corrected about a hundred times in twitch chat but um with how it uses the
87:44 ink you know the battery life is obviously incredible um but with with
87:48 you know using full screens battery life is a big deal you know another device to
87:52 charge every single night on your bed stand right mhm otherwise it's not
87:56 useful wait someone just said the stream's down I don't think it is though
88:00 I think they're lying so I think we're fine anyways don't worry about that I
88:04 got it um yeah he's the only one that said it so I think we're totally
88:09 fine should be
88:14 good someone said next topic time though they are right about that yeah okay so
88:18 let's move on
88:21 to we've been jumping around so much I know that's actually kind of a problem
88:25 we could talk about NVIDIA starts a legal battle with Samsung and Qualcomm
88:29 over patent infringment see I really
88:32 think we talked about this last week did we it says last week never covered but
88:37 I'm like pretty freaking sure we did you
88:41 know I might have missed it because because I remember I remember lonus and
88:44 I were talking about how NVIDIA seems
88:48 really big in our industry but compared to Samsung and Qualcomm they are a very
88:51 small man um they're definitely and
88:55 reading through the posts on the uh we won't we won't beat this one up just in
88:59 case you did do it last week and I always watch the time stamps because I'm
89:02 usually working at this time so I always go back watch the Youtube time stamps
89:05 but someone was saying you know oh NVIDIA's going to crush but really
89:09 Samsung Samsung is the Giant in that Arena Samsung's kind of a big deal and I
89:14 I got to say again brown ninja good work um that
89:17 screenshot it's beautiful I'll show
89:22 everyone oh absolutely fantastic um and
89:26 dro the mic thing too it's just pretty funny uh yeah I don't know that's going
89:30 to be an interesting battle for them because it is not going to be an easy
89:34 battle for them at all uh those are two
89:37 really big players but they do seem to be in the
89:40 right but then again it's a kind of a
89:45 messed up system so sometimes it doesn't matter if you're in the right it matters
89:49 that you have a super awesome lawyer so I don't know we'll see money and your
89:53 lawyer matter more than anything yeah although again to refer to the amazing
89:57 post on your forum for way too many times which will win the Titan or the
90:00 dragon just it's just it's just really
90:03 funny right makes it personal makes it uh makes it cool to watch so thanks a
90:08 lot I believe we had something interesting I can't find it in Rapid
90:13 Fire ah I feel like we're missing something
90:19 right the Samsung uh gear blink which is
90:24 uh it's supposed to be a rival for Google Glass because we totally need
90:27 those right now yeah is Google Glass dead or what as far as I know yeah I I
90:33 did I tell you I tried it and just was not impressed I I remember saying that
90:37 lonus grabbed it and was like oh yeah I'm going to do like one of our I switched episode things and tried out
90:42 for like a month and see how well it goes and then I think he lasted two days
90:47 and just ditched it entirely because it's just not good I saw one guy at PA
90:52 with one yeah 74 are just kind of standing there I remember cuz I saw him
90:56 as well him that one person the individual out of what 75,000 or yeah
91:02 and you know he's wearing it just because people are like oh cool yeah um
91:06 again I didn't click on it and then I went to go switch screens now I got to
91:11 go back click on this so yeah if they're
91:15 filing for patents with these good luck bro they look like safety glasses yeah
91:20 yeah and I like the interest what this is the the weirdest thing to pull out of
91:25 this but did you prepare what I said last time it just it's so like I don't
91:30 know I never read that yeah it it just seems so direct and
91:35 forceful I guess they like did you prepare the chicken salad
91:40 sandwich like they could have gone with something else maybe that's what he
91:44 means by what I said last time maybe they're trying to make sure that they didn't offend anyone ever but it's just
91:50 weird and like the typing with a hand thing is is cool I
91:54 I'm not sure same time I have to see how it's implemented obviously that's something you're going to have to use
91:58 before you can really yeah you know this one of a rapid fire topic so we don't
92:02 have a ton of research on this one um what I'm super stoked for though is the
92:06 what is it the Microsoft headset or is was the Intel
92:10 headset I think it was the Intel headset let me let me look it up real quick I'm
92:14 going to turn my screen onto not looking at what's on my screen because that's
92:19 cool and stuff and then go to Intel
92:22 Jarvis headset yeah the Intel Jarvis
92:25 headset looks so cool but then there
92:28 hasn't been kind of anything about it at all this one is not there we go you can
92:34 see in that picture so I'll share my screen again thanks for the pivot thing
92:38 going on so you can see in this picture it's not really it's not like a heads up
92:43 display on his glasses it just kind of wraps around his ear and it's much more
92:48 focused around being Jarvis instead of
92:53 which is freaking cool could that be
92:56 yeah and it's uh part of the idea is local local recording and local uh
93:02 analytics of what you said instead of like the horrible like it's cool but
93:07 still horrible Okay Google Now blink
93:10 blah blah blah blah blah blah blah yeah that's it's sits waiting waiting waiting
93:16 because it sent out to a server then it has to figure out what you said then I have to send commands back like that
93:20 being said it's incredible that whole process happens yes but we need to step
93:24 forward it needs to be local on the phone it needs there therefore being way
93:28 quicker way more efficient not using your data plan you know we're talking
93:32 about you know cell phones and our plans and how we pay for them and all that
93:35 kind of stuff it's still using your data might be you know a micro amount of data
93:39 but there's those guys out there with a 250 megabyte monthly plan I have 500
93:42 megabyte you have 500 megabyte it's horrible if I forget to turn on Wi-Fi
93:47 and I go home one night and I accidentally watch like a YouTube video
93:50 I'm screwed you're in a lot of trouble yeah so those little micro
93:54 we could call them transactions microtransactions of data matter right
93:58 it it matters so it's it's it's a big
94:02 deal if you could have that local on your phone it would be so much quicker so much more efficient and also if
94:06 you're not in you know if you're out in a forest like we were shooting you know
94:11 way out in the middle of a forest shooting this new movie and the data
94:15 your data didn't work you can't do any of that stuff without data period right
94:18 so it's just over and if you've got Jarvis in your ear it's not over could
94:22 still work unless he has to Google things and then it won't work yeah which
94:26 would be unfortunate either way guys I believe that is it for the show this
94:31 week I'm going to play our intro which is exactly the same as our outro and
94:35 it's going to be awkward because I forgot to take the one overlay off and
94:38 there's actually two overlays on there so it's going to start playing and then I'm going to like drag these things off
94:42 but we'll we'll be okay everyone will
94:46 survive awkward there we
94:50 go nope I'm dead
94:55 I'll carry my part
94:59 cou we should just no what it should be is lineus drops the couch and then you
95:03 just run in and pick it up I got
95:11 this award long pause I forgot her name that was awkward
95:17 um mod 24 mod 24 is going to be
95:20 fantastic if we don't die um and if we
95:24 do die it'll be fantastic for you but severely not fantastic for us there will
95:29 be three teams competing to build a super awesome mod they will have 24
95:33 hours and there will only be one champion whose Cuisine will reign
95:38 supreme sque we have a really interesting mod going on on the floor
95:42 right now I really want to do that anyways uh hopefully you guys will tune
95:45 in it's on September 18th at 6m I'll be tuning in come watch it should be really
95:50 cool I hope it's really cool and I really want to see people in the chat I
95:53 want to see if someone lasts through the whole 24 hours of mod 24 and then
95:58 watches the full duration of the WAN Show right afterwards because we're
96:01 apparently doing the W show right afterwards because we will not miss a WAN Show and then moving on we have the
96:07 wonderful the beautiful linda.com with her very good Educational
96:12 Tools which is not necessarily what you expect after that intro if you go to linda.com wow you can get a 7-Day free
96:17 trial and if you think that 7-Day free trial is super duper awesome you can
96:22 subscribe for I believe 25 bucks a month yep and you get to learn a whole bunch
96:26 of stuff I know Taran here at Works learns video editing that way none of
96:31 our other editors do because they're slacking off and um if you are in high
96:36 school and you want to learn programming because you're going to take it in postsecondary I would highly suggest
96:39 taking Java little courses things on
96:43 l.com because that would be very very helpful thank you guys for watching and
96:48 we will see you next time are we are we going to do a short Afterparty thing are you going to hang out I'm down you're
96:52 down all right we're going to do a short after party thing uh so keep watching if
96:56 you want to keep watching
