0:00 well we've got a memory oriented sort of unboxing today but it isn't RAM this is
0:05 the Corsair Dominator airflow fan and this is not the original one this is the
0:10 new one which is as you can see wide
0:13 enough for six modules to fit underneath it now the old one was about this thick
0:19 and used little tiny 40 mm fans that quite honestly were just too loud they
0:23 were obnoxious fans awful just awful but
0:26 these ones are 60 mm fans and though I've never actually turned them on I'm
0:30 going to assume they're quite a bit quieter the optional airflow fan unit
0:33 contains 260 tachometer controlled fans to provide impinging air flow to the
0:39 memory subsystem with the moderate RPMs required to provide adequate forced air
0:43 the airflow fan is nearly silent there you go they say it's quiet the fan
0:47 easily clamps onto most motherboards now something that you should bear in mind
0:50 is that you do not need to use Corsair RAM in order to take advantage of the
0:54 Dominator airflow fan you can actually use it with any RAM but the height that
0:58 it sits at is just right for their dhx or their Dominator modules so I mean
1:04 obviously designed to work best with their product so the first thing we'll
1:07 find inside is hopefully some kind of installation instruction oh yeah there
1:11 we go there it is that's clever see they've gone and they've taken that backboard and they've turned it into
1:15 your installation manual so figure one clip on the retention levers figure two
1:19 clipped over the modules figure three plug in the airflow figure four
1:23 completed so it is a four-step actually three-step because the fourth step is
1:27 that it's done uh installation process I've installed it before it's really
1:30 easy it comes okay first we find the two little Clips those go on either side I'm
1:34 dropping things all over the place tonight there's another there's another
1:38 clip okay then we have oh there they are okay so then we
1:43 have the actual Dominator airflow module itself you got a nice long little
1:47 sleeved fan connector there that's a three pin connector so the easiest place
1:50 to plug this in is going to be somewhere on your motherboard into one of the fan headers and then right in here you have
1:55 a little baggie of screws and washers and they're mostly pre-applied to the
1:59 thumb screws okay so these are really easy to apply all you really
2:03 do is position this clip under here just
2:07 like that so you can kind of see what I've done there and then you can move it
2:10 around to get the best positioning over your memory modules and then you take
2:14 the little thumb screws and you thumb them in there and then these will be
2:18 mounted to either side then you take the whole thing and
2:22 clip it clamp it over the memory retention clip so you don't actually
2:27 clip it to the sides of your memory modules you pull it over just a little
2:30 bit more so that it will hold the memory modules in place by holding the clips
2:34 anyway that was pretty much it thank you for checking out my unboxing of the
2:37 Corsair Dominator airflow module I'm
2:40 actually going to give you like a couple seconds of like closeup we got like some
2:44 like some panning action here check it out oh yeah there's Corsair air flow on
2:50 the side airf flow okay that was it
