0:07 welcome to my unboxing in first look at the ASUS G55 V this is a gaming notebook
0:13 that's actually been previously unboxed
0:16 um for the Vancouver men's show however
0:19 clearly the last person who unboxed this product was not the seasoned unboxing
0:24 professional that I am because this is
0:27 upside down
0:33 terrible okay so let's cover what's on the outside first so lithium okay do not
0:37 load a transfer package of damaged got it over here we've got the ASUS ADW
0:42 accidental damage warranty that is included with their notebook so one year
0:46 warranty covering accidental drop spills power searches and fire damage including
0:49 24-hour toll-free support and a Target three business day turnaround time for
0:52 repair and replacement not including receiving and shipping time free oneway
0:56 standard shipping from isus to the user of your repair notebook so you do have to pay to ship it back to them however
1:00 throwing an accidental damage warranty is pretty crazy pretty crazy awesome
1:04 2year international warranty so one year of which is ADW Zer bri. guarantee
1:09 two-way free standard shipping okay I'm still confused I don't understand
1:13 whether it's two-way free or oneway free but 24/7 tech support is backed up by
1:17 both halves of that sticker for certain
1:20 let's have a look at what we got in terms of specs here so this is a 15.6
1:26 full HD LED back lit monitor with with
1:31 not TV and you know what this is a terrible spec sheet forget it I'm not
1:34 looking at that okay let's just open her up yeah first thing we find inside is a
1:41 gaming mouse I'm not even going to bother opening it because it's not very good you should actually probably just
1:46 buy a real Mouse um not that I'm saying
1:49 that you know it's not usable but it's
1:52 like usable on like your sister's computer and then you can steal her
1:57 awesome gaming mouse or something if you can her that the one that came with your
2:01 R gaming notebook is better all right we've got an included
2:07 Rog uh notebook backpack which fits
2:11 theoretically The Notebook that it comes with and I'm going to sort of model this
2:15 for you guys do my little turn on the catwalk so this is what I would look
2:18 like if I was 15 and in high school and I wore a backpack and the joke there
2:23 actually guys is that I do wear a backpack every day so you
2:26 know this is what I'd look like if I walked around with a backpack on so
2:30 there you go let's take that off actually no let's not take that off yet
2:33 let's look inside it so here's our notebook pouch which
2:36 hopefully is oh yeah there I was pretty disappointed for a second there uh
2:40 hopefully is patted on oo that's not a lot of padding okay so yeah it's it's
2:46 pretty cool but be careful you know don't drop your bag down like that if
2:49 you have this particular backpack and you've got your expensive fancy notebook
2:53 It's like got a small it's got a small pad on the bottom so it's not completely
2:56 unpadded or anything and it's got like a nice soft thing going on in here but
3:00 remember guys this is the free backpack that came with your notebook if I was
3:03 buying a notebook like this and you're going to see just how awesome it is then
3:08 I would definitely get myself a wicked gaming mouse and a wicked notebook
3:13 backpack so that I could be all like balling out with my notebook and my
3:17 backpack and my mouse and uh like a boss
3:20 like that okay opening it up I don't
3:24 know if all the accessories are going to be in the right place like I said I clearly un see the mouse wasn't even in
3:28 that box it was here so now you do get to see it it has a DPI change button
3:32 it's got a scroll wheel it's got a couple buttons here a couple over here rubberized grip on the side and that's
3:36 pretty much all she wrote about that guy
3:39 moving right along we have our power brick and like I mean when it comes to
3:45 Bricks you could actually build with this thing because it's big and uh
3:50 here's my iPhone for comparison which I know you guys love so very much bam
3:56 that's how big it is all right moving right
4:00 along the notebook itself this is what
4:04 I'm excited about so we unboxed their g75 quite recently which is a similar
4:09 model but using a 17in screen now personally I find that a 17in screen is
4:15 very awesome and very huge and great as a gaming experience but not quite as
4:20 good as a portability experience and I definitely prefer for myself to have a
4:25 15-in screen which is exactly what is included with this one so here we have a
4:31 couple accessories we've got a cable tie for your power adapter warranty card
4:37 drivers and a notebook users manual including ooh R stickers very nice all
4:44 right let's turn her on give me a second to get it booted up on the bottom we can
4:50 easily see all of the upgrade panels there's your battery upgrade panel more
4:55 like removal and like putting back in if you need to for whatever reason uh here
4:59 we have access to our memory as well as our hard drive so that covers that let's
5:04 do the external of it so ultimate fighting machine ASUS gaming notebook
5:07 Rog Arsenal presents taking off the
5:11 sticker so that we can see what the notebook looks like without it because most people won't keep it on on this
5:15 side we've got a Kensington lock two USB 3.0 ports microphone headphones and a
5:21 DVD multi-drive on the back we find
5:24 ventilation so check this out we've got a full-sized heat sink that runs all the
5:28 way from here to here the rest of this is actually plastic filler so it looks
5:32 like you know a massive heat sink was enough to take care of the 660m as well
5:37 as the Intel Core i7 quad core processor
5:40 inside this machine I'm actually just going to take this off as well because
5:44 that's sort of interfering with the gorgeousness uh the back of the unit has
5:48 a soft touch feel which personally I quite like
5:52 um everyone's got a bit of a different opinion about soft touch but I really
5:56 like cases anything that I'm not going to touch too
6:01 much I like to see the soft touge finish on because it can wear out like I have a
6:06 G9 mouse that really wore out and then it kind of peels off but if you're not
6:10 going to be all over it all the time it looks really good it stays really clean
6:15 looking all the time and uh yeah I like it so shiny ASUS logo Republic of Gamers
6:19 logo on the back as well moving around to the other side we've got gigabit
6:23 Ethernet power VGA
6:27 Thunderbolt yeah a HDMI as well as two
6:31 more USB 3.0 super speed ports now you
6:34 notice the lack of an SD card reader bam there it is right in the front as well
6:38 as all of your indicator lights for things like hard drive Wireless caps
6:41 lock number lock and all that good stuff speaking of number lock in spite of its
6:46 15inch form factor this notebook has a full desktop is keyboard meaning it's
6:51 got a properly laid out set of arrow keys a full number pad as well as a
6:57 fullsize backlit keyboard I want to get you guys a view of the backlighting on
7:01 the keyboard if I could even move in the room here at all right now there's so
7:05 much stuff all over the floor there we go how's it look awesome and white love
7:10 it all right I'm actually I think white
7:14 is probably either my favorite or my second favorite backlit keyboard color I
7:18 do really like green as well speaking of soft touch they have a more durable type
7:22 of soft touch here this has a texture to it so this will actually be far less
7:26 likely to wear off when you have your palms resting on it all the time they've also got a nice big widescreen touchpad
7:31 as well as left and right clicks which are to be expected at this point in time
7:35 uh 2.3 GHz quad core processor I don't know if I mentioned that before so
7:39 that's a 3610 qm it also has a GTX 660
7:43 so with its bigger brother you get an boot SSD you get a more powerful
7:47 graphics card you do get a um I mean
7:51 those are the biggest things you get the bigger screen
7:55 um yeah one thing that you get with both
7:58 of them though is the 3D capable display
8:02 so your emitter is embedded in here somewhere all you got to do is Source
8:05 yourself some 3D glasses they're about 100 bucks I think and you are ready for
8:10 3D gaming as soon as you can say Bob's
8:13 your uncle and you configure it in the NVIDIA driver and I personally think
8:17 that's pretty awesome so remember it's not only good for games but also for movies and whatever else you want to do
8:22 in stereoscopic 3D if you have the
8:25 supported applications installed has dual fans apparently which is kind of
8:29 cool it also has 12 gigs of RAM as well as a 750 gig hard drive now there's no
8:33 SSD that is disappointing but you can always go with the g75 or you can rip
8:38 the drive out and throw in an SSD very easily if you want because it's uh very
8:43 accessible on the bottom and the cord fell out so apparently it does have a
8:47 battery and I mean unlike the 17-in
8:51 bigger brother it is much lighter and much more portable so it's just a matter
8:55 of deciding what you want out of it oh yeah hinge durability is one of the
8:59 things that that ASUS has done a fantastic job with on their G Series
9:02 notebooks look at these heavy duty hinges I really just don't expect them
9:06 to break in in any way at any point in time love it and then finally the sound
9:12 is done via the speakers all along the top here uh once again another upgrade
9:17 that the g75 has is the subwoofer on the bottom this one does not have that so
9:21 the g75 is clearly the higher end machine but it is clearly designed for
9:26 the more hardcore gamer that is willing to sacrifice the portability to get
9:29 those extra bells and whistles so thank you for checking out my unboxing and first look at the G55 V from isus don't
