0:00 welcome to Linus Tech tips at CES 2013 our trip to the show this year is
0:04 powered by Corsair maker of quality PC components and peripherals our trusted
0:09 storage partner is Seagate technology and our trusted networking partner is
0:16 linkis three cases that are actually designed around the same chassis in
0:21 spite of the fact that they look completely different from each other in
0:26 pretty much every possible way so the concept with this classy design was to
0:31 take a proven design that that we've seen from silverstone's 90° rotated
0:36 motherboard concept where they have the uh where they actually have all the AO
0:40 coming out the top and take that performance that cooling performance and
0:43 put it in an upright design so in this case we have an inverted motherboard so
0:49 the io is down at the bottom and the expansion slots are up here at the top
0:52 with the power supply at the top back you are expected to have your power
0:57 supply fan facing the top of the case there's a filtered in take right here at
1:01 the back it's got room for six 3 and 1/2 in drives it's you know your standard
1:05 ATX eight slots so okay okay okay so you
1:09 don't see the work that went into it yet but here at the front so this is the rv4
1:14 we've got this is the plastic design case Guys these are prototypes so don't
1:17 mind the manufacturing sort of anomalies
1:20 here so you've got a plastic front with an open side so this is what makes the
1:26 air flow so strong in this case it's completely open here it's not as good
1:30 for noise cancellation as what you're about to see with the F4 but it does
1:35 give you the air flow you need so here they've also redesign the grills and I
1:39 hope I can figure out how to get it out there we go I'm going to pretend
1:44 that's the right way to take it off so they've redesigned the grills the older ones allowed 60% airf flow transmission
1:50 these newer ones are 90% so that again
1:53 is how they are able to achieve that they've used ap11 fans so these are high
1:58 pressure fans and able to create that positive air flow or positive pressure
2:03 inside the case and as well as moving
2:06 air through a restrictive Grill although in this case the grill really isn't that
2:10 restrictive now we're going to move over to this guy right here the F4 takes
2:16 everything that's good about the rv4 and steps it up a huge notch in terms of the
2:20 quality so it's using Alum unibody
2:23 aluminum here on the top and here in the front check this out from the side this
2:27 is a single piece of aluminum that it's actually been like I don't even know how
2:31 they did this with the folds see this shape here this is a single piece this
2:36 is not a manufacturing trick and it is not made of plastic they've also added
2:40 noise dampening to the F4 on all the panels so front top and side panels and
2:45 they're using a higher quality AP 181 fan so instead of the Raven case series
2:51 case's switch is here where it's got a high and a low speed setting this one
2:55 has a dial so you can take it all the way from 500 RPM to 2,000 RPM m to
3:00 fine-tune the case for how much noise you want to hear versus How much cooling
3:04 performance you want to have the way that they achieve the air flow that they
3:07 need in this one is to have these vents
3:10 here don't worry I'll reposition the case to have these vents at the back so
3:13 these point to the back this is also part of what makes this case more silent
3:17 because instead of directing air towards the user sitting in front of the case
3:20 rather air noise towards the user it directs the noise out the back of the
3:24 case so there's noise dampening noise dampening noise redirection but still
3:28 plenty of air flow because this is quite open and free
3:33 flowing which leads us to the internal
3:36 nickname is apparently the mammoth this is the mm1 so they took this case and
3:41 they went okay we got these high pressure optimized fans we got this great cooling performance this is all
3:46 really cool and sweet but not everyone needs that much cooling performance so
3:50 why don't we take this optimized design and turn it into a total Beast that is
3:55 dust free so yes this is a dust free case and I'm going to show you why in
3:59 just a moment so this is obviously very early prototype this is just like
4:04 basically a hunk of metal that comes down and reveals your IO so you got your
4:08 USB 3 your front buttons all this kind of cool stuff so I'm going to put that
4:12 away this right here is if I can figure
4:15 out how it comes out there we go check this out
4:22 guys I know right basically they've
4:26 decided to put a car air filter into a
4:29 case now because they're using AP 182 fans which as I said before are
4:34 optimized for pressure they're still going to be able to deliver enough air
4:38 flow to the inside of the case to take care of a reasonably sort of mid to
4:43 high-end system so no I wouldn't recommend running four GTX 680s in here
4:47 but running something like a single 680 you're going to be fine so there's those
4:52 this is where you see the resemblance to the other chassis a little bit better
4:55 than uh than what you were able to see before so it's not only dust proof but
4:59 they're also saying it is spill proof because of the fact that the top is one
5:04 solid piece and all of the vents on the front and the back are directed
5:08 downwards so if you were to spill a cup of coffee on the top of this case it
5:12 would all go down it would get on your carpet but at least it wouldn't wreck
5:15 your computer I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to try and turn this okay
5:19 we're going to go to the other side of it so that I can uh show you guys what
5:23 the back looks like so the back is a
5:27 very similar design and what they've done is they've put a space between the
5:30 io and the back of the actual enclosure outside where you can run all of the
5:35 cables that you need just like that last thing we're going to check out in the
5:38 Silverstone Suite is over here and this is very very cool and I'm not going to
5:43 reposition these too much because then you'll see my entire production crew
5:47 through the uh the mirror that's behind it actually if you guys want to move over here a little bit then you can get
5:51 an angle that's more like from that direction so I'll take the mic and uh
5:56 let's go right over here this is a dual monitor stand
6:00 that is capable of 360° rotation it can
6:04 move in pretty much any direction you could possibly want check this out it is
6:08 built out of there you can hear that solid
6:12 aluminum and it is extremely robust feeling so you can take that move it all
6:17 the way down here move it all the way back up here there's no there's no Force
6:20 required to move it around just like that we can rotate it as much or as
6:25 little as we want to in whatever direction we want align the monitors
6:28 this one right here is a touch screen and I am just very very impressed with
6:33 this particular product I don't think I've seen anything before that allows
6:37 this degree of flexibility so there's no pricing available for this one yet
6:41 because I'm sure you guys were going to ask but it's just I don't know I kind of
6:45 geek out when I see stuff like this oh yeah I had forgotten these were back
6:49 here so there's an ITX enclosure this is the M5 using an sfx power supply they've
6:54 done away with 3 and 1 half in drives entirely to save on space and it accepts
6:58 ITX with low profile expansion cards and you got 280 mm fans over there on the
7:03 right for cooling the last case over here on the right so I'm just going to
7:08 sneak past you here and move this monitor out of the way ah so convenient
7:12 is the M4 so this is a continuation in their Milo series and basically it adds
7:18 a lockable front panel just a gorgeous
7:21 thick aluminum front panel to an otherwise sort of very very plain very
7:25 elegant looking home theater case this is the kind of thing we're used to seeing from Silverstone don't miss any
