0:00 this video is brought to you by the Corsair Vengeance k70 and k95 these
0:04 fully mechanical keyboards are designed for performance gaming visit Corsair.com
0:08 Vengeance gaming to learn more now we've all seen those cheap Korean uh
0:14 IPS um greater than HD resolution
0:17 monitors on eBay okay so we're familiar with those they're actually fairly
0:22 inexpensive All Things Considered you know considering that you're getting an
0:25 IPS screen that runs at 2560 by 1440
0:29 they're usually 27in models but not everyone is comfortable with buying from
0:34 these weird sort of direct from Korea
0:37 eBay sellers and not everyone is comfortable knowing that they are
0:42 getting a non-ag grade panel or
0:45 sometimes non A+ grade CU there's a wide
0:48 variety of different grades of LCD panels so not knowing what they're
0:52 getting and obviously not having any recourse if there are dead pixels or
0:57 whatever else so that my friends is
1:01 where nixus comes in they have got their
1:04 own version of what would be these 27in
1:08 uh not quite A+ grade panels but the key difference is that you have a North
1:14 American company to go to assuming you live in North America so you have a
1:18 North American company to go to if there's some kind of a problem and you
1:23 have someone actually doing like some rudimentary quality control on them as
1:27 opposed to just going with sort of off the the not quite correct manufacturing
1:33 line and just shipping them out to you so that's nix's value ad here is they're
1:37 Q seeing it they're giving you a support contact that you can actually talk to
1:42 here in North America and they are delivering you an IPS screen that is
1:47 capable of 2560 by 1440 resolution also
1:51 known as uh what was the
1:54 2.5k and they have also made some modifications to the monitor that make
1:59 it a little bit better than the Cheapo ones as well so check this out uh number
2:04 one is you have multiple display Imports
2:07 so HDMI DVI VGA and DisplayPort
2:10 although it should be noted that the only two that are capable of displaying
2:14 at Full Resolution are going to be DVI and DisplayPort that's dual link DVI
2:19 not single link DVI single link DVI has only the resolution of HDMI which is not
2:24 quite enough they've included all the accessories you need to get it mounted
2:28 up I think this is the first time I've ever seen um like a mounting ARM that
2:33 just Clips onto a standard vase amount on a monitor like this so we're going to
2:37 have to go ahead and sort of figure that out I guess I should finish showing you what's on the bottom so other than that
2:41 there's audio as well as DC power in and
2:45 you've got all your ventilation holes on the bottom as well as on the top of the
2:49 monitor up here now the front of the monitor this is a 27 in screen so you
2:53 can expect a little bit of a wider bezel but it's not super wide it is a glossy
2:57 monitor so it's glossy on the bezel as as well as on the screen itself and all
3:02 of your on screen menus are controlled by the buttons down here at the bottom
3:07 so I'm actually going to throw this together off camera and we'll be back in a moment all the mounting hardware is
3:11 helpfully labeled so we're going to start with the uh the screw for
3:15 connecting Monitor and shaft as opposed to the screw for connecting the base and
3:20 the shaft so we just position this guy
3:24 right here over the four holes and then I guess I probably should have opened up
3:28 uh this little baggie there we go so those are four Vasa compatible screws
3:33 and just go ahead and position those right there you can see that the M the
3:37 uh the ARM is height adjust which is really nice to see just because
3:41 especially with these larger size monitors it's uh it's nice to be able to
3:46 to move them around to suit sort of your your individual uh viewing style because
3:52 they're so heavy and so so large compared to smaller monitors now while
3:58 this is an LED back model it's still a little bit on the thicker side and
4:02 heavier side again because of that size and uh yeah because of that size now I
4:07 have a lot of people sort of you
4:11 know Wonder ask me what are the advantages and
4:15 disadvantages of uh larger resolution
4:18 versus lower resolution and so I would say well there's a couple things so
4:22 Advantage number one is having that pixel density gives you more clarity to
4:26 the image so it is going to look nicer this disadvantage number one is expect
4:31 to be upgrading your graphics card a lot more often if you are wanting to play at
4:36 Native resolution which will obviously look a lot better than if you play at
4:40 sort of not a native resolution where you'll have that uh that interpolation
4:45 that you encounter with that you can see there's a bit of uh bit of play there so
4:49 let's see how sturdy it is once we've actually got it fully attached here so
4:54 there it is eight screws to get it set up and you can see I've positioned it on
4:57 the included styring so that but it ah
5:00 there we go isn't resting on the screen
5:03 itself once it's on your desk I guess that it's not too bad actually that's
5:08 probably not going to bother you so you've got swivel like that little bit of tilt not
5:14 much tilt little
5:19 bit oh okay it looks like it clicks into place for some
5:23 reason oh okay it's just caught on the plastic a little bit so there's the Tilt
5:27 go ahead and show you guys what degree of
5:30 there we go see there's a little plastic piece there that just catches like that
5:35 not a problem okay and then last but not least you do have height adjust which
5:40 goes all the way down to here and all the way up to
5:44 here uh right included accessories so
5:47 they do have an audio cable uh USB extension cable and finally a dual link
5:53 DVI cable nice black cable looks pretty slick and there's obviously instructions
5:58 for all the stuff that we we just did and I think that pretty much wraps it up
6:01 thank you for checking out my unboxing and first look at nix's 27in 2560x1440
