0:09 usa.com this unboxing is actually meant to be an unboxing of a couple of
0:13 different things so number one is going to be silverstone's Strider gold
0:18 Evolution power supply the golden standard for PSU performance efficiency
0:22 and quality is what they have to say for themselves about it it delivers 1,000
0:26 watt sustained 1100 Watts Peak and has
0:30 basically just got all the other good stuff about it that Silverstone usually
0:33 has so there's a quiet 135 mm cooling fan this is a Strider series power
0:38 supply so it is presumably fully modular
0:41 although I actually am not 100% sure and
0:44 actually no I'm kidding yeah it's 100% modular um okay there's some manuals
0:49 inside there's some stuff inside here
0:54 um don't worry I'm getting to the second part of the unboxing very quickly here
0:59 so we've got a power cable from do not eat there's that do not eat throw away
1:03 do not eat thank you uh we've got closed
1:06 cell foam which is of course very good for keeping your power supply safe look
1:10 at this that's a nice touch that's a new thing so they've included a magnetic
1:16 dust filter so that's a 140 mm dust
1:19 filter you go ahead and pop that on your power supply or if you don't want to use
1:23 it on your power supply you go ahead put it somewhere else it's up to you it's magnetic so it'll like stick to things
1:29 that aren't your face no doesn't stick to my face okay that's
1:32 okay uh power supply you've got some cable management velcro zip ties as well
1:38 as some regular zip ties some oh look at
1:41 that two sets of mounting screws so they include four thumb screws and then four
1:46 regular black screws for mounting the power supply to your case
1:50 and the power supply itself which has AB
1:53 actually just a gorgeous finish on it so it's got kind of a it looks very similar
1:58 to Mountain mods's black sprinkle finish and you can tell right away with a paint
2:02 finish is it going to be durable is it not going to be durable this looks like one of the nicer this might be the
2:07 nicest finish on a power supply I've ever seen check that out that looks
2:11 absolutely gorgeous okay so uh FF 141 yeah
2:16 magnetized fan filter included 24-hour fully continuous power output with a 40°
2:20 Centigrade operating temperature so that is extremely high um if you're actually
2:25 operating your computer in a 40° C environment then I feel really really
2:29 really bad for you in addition to your computer so that means that in all
2:33 likelihood this power supply can do more than 1,000 watt sustained if you're in a
2:37 reasonable room which is probably more like 20° C so about half of that it uses
2:42 a single 12vt rail to achieve its th000 watt output so that's 83 amps on that
2:47 single 12vt rail which means it can provide almost its entire th000 watt
2:51 output on that single rail meaning it's probably using a voltage converter as
2:56 opposed to having dedicated circuitry inside so it's actually going okay we're
3:00 going to take the ac voltage coming in at the back we're going to convert it
3:03 all to 12vt DC and then we're going to convert that DC voltage to 5vt and 3.3
3:08 volt which are the other rails on the power supply this actually ends up being
3:12 more efficient than the more traditional approach of having dedicated circuitry
3:16 for each one so it's a very very good way to do it and it also means that
3:19 you're not going to be limited in terms of how many graphics cards or how many
3:22 12volt heavy devices that you can plug into it CPUs for example also use 12vt
3:28 uh okay so that's pretty much it for that let's have a look at the cables
3:31 included and then we're going to move on to the most special part about this
3:35 power supply unboxing which is that you don't have to use these cables so
3:39 Silverstone has gorgeous power supplies
3:42 they look fantastic but they're not always necessarily the ones that I would
3:47 want to use for a showcase build because the cables included while they have
3:52 decent sleeving on them I mean you actually can't see the color of the cables underneath too much this is
3:57 better than most of the Silverstone power supplies I've seen before
4:00 often leave a little bit to be desired because these connectors you can see are
4:03 using colored cables and there there's a little bit of bare area and all that
4:07 kind of stuff so I'm going to show you the alternative cables that you can use
4:11 that are the best cables I have ever seen uh so first of all harnesses so the
4:17 first harness here is quadruple Mo
4:20 rather triple Molex with a floppy connector on the end of each one and
4:23 it's about a hm looks like about a Linus
4:27 belly button to tip of Linus ARM in terms of of length all right the next
4:31 one we have these are quad SATA harnesses and they are using sort of the
4:36 uh the upside down configuration so that means you have to run it up to the top
4:40 and then down to an optical drive due to the orientation of the connector itself
4:45 um this doesn't really bother me because generally speaking if I'm going down to
4:48 hard drives I don't mind kind of going like this because they're not that far away and if I'm going down to an optical
4:52 drive I'm usually cable managing up the back of the case but not everyone
4:55 prefers that so I'm going to go ahead and let you guys make a decision similar
4:59 length on that guy 24 pin connector very
5:02 short for the 24 pin connector which I do like to see because you don't need a
5:06 long 24 pin connector you don't route them that far all modern cases pretty
5:10 much have a nice place to put them uh these PCI Express cables have capacitors
5:15 built into them this can actually uh improve the performance but it's not the
5:21 kind of thing again that I'd like to see on the best cable managed system ever so
5:25 there's two 6 plus2 connectors that have individual connectors on the ends and
5:29 then there's two more that have a 6 plus2 and an additional six pin and
5:33 these are ideal for graphics cards that have two connectors so you only actually
5:37 have to run one cable over to the whole thing and then you can plug in two
5:41 connectors to the graphics card itself so it's a total of four 6 Plus tws and
5:45 two six pin connectors and finally you've got two 4 plus4 connectors for
5:49 high-end motherboards that ask for two of them
5:54 now I promised to show you guys the best
5:58 sleeved CA that I have ever ever
6:01 encountered ever and if I could figure out where my knife was then I would do
6:05 that here we go so we're going to cut it open that felt
6:10 violent and there we have it so these
6:13 are not these are better than MD PCX folks these are the best I've
6:18 encountered they actually are using more of a cloth Braiding on them as opposed
6:23 to a so they're individually sleeved and they're using not plastic no plastic and
6:29 it's um yeah just oh absolutely
6:32 beautiful I mean part of the point of sleeving is for looks part of the point
6:37 is for better air flow in the case which individually sleeving the cables kind of
6:41 kicks in the teeth but it's fashionable right now so people do it um but the
6:45 last point of sleeving cables is actually to make them more durable so if
6:49 you were to accidentally slip with a screwdriver and hit something or with a
6:52 knife or scissors or pretty much almost anything else you'd actually have a
6:56 really hard time cutting these cables because they have an extremely durable
6:59 leing or if you had like a cut out in the in a CPU tray or some or a CPU hole
7:04 or something and it rubbed up against it for a long time if it was a just not
7:08 covered in sleeving at all if you had two cables that wore out they could
7:11 short on each other whereas this that will not happen so I have a 24 pin I've
7:16 also got uh some other ones here so I've
7:19 actually got a wide variety of these cables you can pick them up they're good
7:22 for any uh okay for Silverstone power supplies only refer to website for
7:27 details is what they have to say for themselves but but they're available in
7:30 a wide variety of different configurations and I think that pretty
7:34 much wraps it up so okay yes the Strider 1000 watt beautiful looking power supply
7:39 kind of ugly cables but you have the opportunity to put the nicest cables
7:44 available on it all right guys so this is officially the most gorgeous looking
7:49 power supply that uh I think anyone here
7:52 in the studio has ever seen so we've got
7:56 a number of different kinds of connectors here so this guy right here
8:00 is an individually sleeved 6 plus 2 the great thing about these individually
8:03 sleeved cables is if you want to run just a six you don't have to put the two
8:07 right next to it you can actually just tuck them away somewhere here I me you
8:10 could even cut them off if you really wanted to but I'd feel like like I'm
8:14 destroying a work of art with this uh particular power supply this one right
8:18 here is a 6 plus 2 plus a six so that
8:21 way you could run one gorgeous sleeved cable to a video card that needs two
8:27 connectors I'm just going to put this down here so here's our 24 pin which
8:31 also oh wait no it isn't that's two 4 plus 4S there we go so those are for
8:36 your CPU connectors oh looks so good so good like
8:42 So Pro so much better than even like Pro
8:45 sleeved individually done power supplies because if you even look at where
8:50 they're terminated there's no heat shrink on any but a few of the
8:54 connectors so this one's special because there's two wires going into into that
8:57 one so you can see that there's just there's nothing it's completely clean
9:01 it's very very rare that you see someone put the time and attention into plastic
9:06 sleeving to get that right because you'll actually have to pre-plan the way
9:10 the cable's going to curve to have them all terminate like that see something like Molex it's a little bit tougher to
9:15 do that because of the way that the pins are done but with anything like um here
9:20 we go where are they
9:23 uh yeah there we go so there's the four pins so the four plus fours where are
9:27 the SATA ones SATA ones look very clean as well so there's no color to them
9:32 whatsoever I think they're using black wires inside but it's so hard to tell
9:36 because this sleeving is so so opaque
9:39 you just can't see through it at all so absolutely gorgeous um I think these
9:44 wires are a little bit no they're about the same length as the stock ones that
9:48 were included so I think that pretty much wraps it up thank you for checking
