0:00 this is probably the most exciting unboxing i've done in a while this is
0:04 the canon xa10 hd camcorder so we are
0:08 finally upgrading our ancient sony hd
0:12 camcorder that we use for shooting ncix tech tips this is an
0:17 sd sdhc sd xc
0:20 um camcorder so what it means is we're recording completely onto solid state
0:25 media which is pretty nice both for speed and for convenience all right
0:32 um all right what do we got here so this is
0:35 probably okay warranty registration card
0:39 oh a transfer utility so yeah we're
0:42 finally replacing the ncix tech tips camera i'm so stoked
0:48 this is a much higher quality much higher caliber of camera than what we've
0:53 used in the past okay we got a transfer utility here
0:57 we got um camcorder music data image mix data disk
1:03 okay sure why not uh register your camcorder now and receive exclusive
1:07 benefits from canon okay uh canon professional services transfer
1:13 utility installation guide woohoo instruction manual so this is like thick
1:18 this is a big old instruction manual one third of it is english so it shows you
1:23 how to change the timeline you know what let me see if i can find something with the general uh specs of the unit so that
1:28 i have something to refer to because i haven't really looked at any information
1:31 about it since i pre-ordered it which was like two months ago uh it's taken a
1:36 really long time to come in stock okay so here's the highlights of the xa10 so
1:41 i'm gonna put that aside for myself to refer back to and let's start finding
1:46 some accessories and whatnots here okay
1:49 oh my goodness i don't even know where to begin with this okay this looks like
1:53 a battery pack we're just gonna like open stuff up
1:57 because we're gonna be using this camera today hopefully yeah intelligent
2:00 lithium-ion battery you see that okay okay
2:04 all right what do we got next next we have a
2:08 remote wireless controller okay
2:12 next we have some screws
2:16 okay those are mounting screws for something in all likelihood another
2:20 little battery
2:23 okay some kind of little clip i better not
2:26 lose any of this stuff looks like there's some assembly
2:30 required here folks here's the lens cover thing put that on
2:34 the end of the camera excellent okay what do we got here uh power brick
2:42 and uh this garbage is gonna start blowing away if i don't find something
2:45 to do with it so here you can look at the power brick while i figure out what
2:48 to do with my garbage i'm just gonna put it in my pocket for now i think okay
2:52 okay we're good so power brick
2:55 uh power cord nothing really exciting there okay now we're getting into some
2:59 cables so our first cable is a component out
3:04 cable so that uses a little interface on the
3:07 camera outputs component for monitoring what you're doing
3:11 all right next we got so this is where our
3:16 looks like our mics plug into
3:20 so we have two channels there little buttons to eject them we've been
3:24 using like a consumer level camera up until now oh look at all this
3:28 so we can like change it and stuff cameraman probably
3:32 knows a lot better than me what all of this does because i'm kind of a camera
3:36 idiot but that's a zoom right that's zoom yeah he's giving me the indication
3:41 that that is indeed zoom some kind of lock start stop oh okay now it's not
3:45 locked sweet so here's a shoe for um i
3:48 don't know flash whatever it is it looks good love it
3:53 okay next we have
3:59 this some other kind of more different
4:02 bracket
4:06 it's got like soft rubber on it here and here
4:10 hold something okay
4:14 look cameras are not my strong point guys you wanted to see a professional camera
4:18 unboxing go somewhere else this is just me unboxing my new toy okay
4:23 usb 2 for transferring files and finally composite output from the
4:29 camera itself so that's just your um
4:32 single video and then stereo audio so
4:36 now i have the xa10 camera
4:39 which is safely packaged inside bubble
4:42 wrap it's actually really small i was expecting it to be a little bit bigger
4:46 so uh here why don't i just read off the packaging what some of the key features
4:51 are ham highlights of the xa10 hd recording with
4:56 a uh digit dv3 processor cool okay one third
5:02 inch cmos sensor that captures video it infects a pixel count of approximately
5:06 2.07 megapixels which is 1080p okay wide zoom lens with a focal length
5:12 at full at wide angle of 30.4 you know i'm just
5:15 going to hold this out here and cameraman can look at it because he knows what's interesting and i don't
5:19 uh emphasis on versatility manual controls at your fingertips face
5:23 detection infrared recording ooh in the dark so we can do like uh night tech
5:27 tips uh relay recording and double slot recording so when your sd card is full
5:32 you can just um oh simultaneously to two memory cards which is a convenient way
5:36 to back up your recordings interesting or you can record to one
5:40 then the other and just swap memory cards as you go so that you can record
5:43 without interruption other features audio you can use the
5:47 built-in microphone mic audio input terminal or the two xlr audio input
5:52 terminals when recording lcd screen and viewfinder why don't we have a look at
5:55 that 100 frame coverage which ensure that you can accurately check that your
6:00 shots are framed how you want them so let's just go ahead and open that up
6:04 nice big wide screen you know what let's see if the uh battery pack has any
6:08 charge on it sometimes they do you never know
6:11 okay let's uh figure out where the button is to do the
6:15 thing oh okay hold on maybe i can mount this too
6:19 so ah so this goes on here
6:23 so that's pretty straightforward oh no no it slides in here first so you slide
6:27 in like lift this up
6:30 lift these up
6:34 slide in like that once you have them lifted up
6:37 sufficiently there we go put that back in there
6:41 make sure it's making good contact screw these bad boys in
6:48 new tech tips camera okay gotta get them lined up before
6:52 they'll screw in that makes sense that's very intuitive
6:57 okay got that there
7:00 so yeah i don't even know what that thing is up there but
7:05 so we assembled it a little bit now uh we did not put the microphone holder on
7:10 since i do use a lapel mic that mounts right here so uh yeah we won't be using
7:14 that at all we'll just be using our little wireless unit and then let's uh
7:18 it's not charged at all so i can't really show you guys any of that we got
7:21 powered image stabilization got our touch screen here that little piece that
7:25 i couldn't figure out what it was that's a stylus so we won't be using that in
7:29 all likelihood okay here we can switch between uh playback and recording mode
7:32 here's where the sd cards go pretty sweet
7:36 yeah yeah infrared on and off it's very
7:39 ergonomic i'll tell you guys that much like the the feel of it is very nice so
7:43 i can very easily reach the zoom controls up here slides very smoothly so
7:48 that'll be good for nice smooth zoom shots from cameraman here's the
7:52 viewfinder if we're not using an external display which we in all likelihood will be using this is
7:57 something no idea okay start stop uh
8:00 here we can change between a few different modes manual auto and cinema
8:05 oh i think this is focus right is that focus yeah cameraman says that's focus
8:09 so we have manual focus now high
8:12 technology for ncix tech tips
8:16 and uh i think that's pretty much it so
8:19 oh okay okay okay we have to do one more shot here we have to do one more shot okay here give me give me this give me
8:24 this okay cameraman has to hold the camera and then i'm gonna show you guys
8:28 a glimpse of the cameraman this is what it looks like when he's
8:32 holding a camera thanks for checking out this unboxing online as tech tips don't
